Brian Pillman Jr. to challenge for MLW World title at Zero Hour

Brian Pillman Jr. is getting a World title shot at MLW’s first show of the year.

MLW announced this morning that World Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu will defend his title against Pillman at their Zero Hour set of television tapings. The show is taking place at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas on Saturday, January 11.

MLW hyped up the title match:

There is unfinished business between CONTRA Unit and the remaining members of the Hart Foundation.

CONTRA Unit struck fast and with violence late last year when they took out Teddy Hart. Now young Brian Pillman readies for retribution and his first World title shot as he looks to conquer the seemingly unconquerable in the 300 pound Fatu.

Pillman, who along with Davey Boy Smith Jr., have vowed payback on CONTRA Unit, campaigned for a title match following his breakout performance in the 2019 Opera Cup. Matchmakers agreed that Pillman’s ranking in MLW’s top 10 in Pro Wrestling Illustrated warranted consideration for a championship bout.

Now official, Pillman will look to do what eluded his father: win the World Championship. Can the 2018 Rookie of the Year dethrone the undefeated World Champ?

Fatu has been MLW World Heavyweight Champion since winning the title from Tom Lawlor in July 2019. Fatu defending his title against CIMA has also been announced for MLW’s Fightland tapings in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 1.

Here’s the updated card for Zero Hour:

“Alicia brings a passion and quality to MLW broadcasts and coverage unmatched in the sport,” MLW’s Court Bauer said. “We are very pleased to formalize Alicia’s future with MLW.”

Atout, who has previously done work for Impact Wrestling and AEW, noted that this is the first contract she’s signed in professional wrestling: “HUGE NEWS!! I’ve officially signed my first ever contract in professional wrestling and it’s with @MLW! Damn it feels good having a place to call home.”

National title match set for MLW Zero Hour tapings

Aerostar is getting a title shot when he appears at MLW’s Zero Hour television tapings next month.

MLW has announced that National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone will defend his title against Aerostar at Zero Hour. The show is taking place at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas on Saturday, January 11.

Aerostar is one of four Lucha Libre AAA wrestlers announced for the Zero Hour tapings. Drago, Puma King, and Taurus are also set for the show.

A working partnership between MLW and AAA was announced at MLW’s Saturday Night SuperFight pay-per-view last month.

Hammerstone became the inaugural National Openweight Champion by winning a tournament for the title this June.

MLW also announced today that Erick Stevens will make his debut for the promotion at Zero Hour. Here’s the updated card for the event:

  • Jimmy Havoc vs. Mance Warner in a no ropes barbed wire match
  • Ross Von Erich vs. Tom Lawlor
  • National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone defending against Aerostar
  • Marshall Von Erich vs. MJF (If MJF wins, The Dynasty will get a Tag Team title shot against The Von Erichs. If Marshall wins, MJF can’t challenge The Von Erichs for the titles again.)

Marshall Von Erich vs. MJF added to MLW Zero Hour tapings

A match with Tag Team title implications has been added to MLW’s Zero Hour television tapings.

MLW announced today that Marshall Von Erich vs. MJF will take place at Zero Hour. The match has a stipulation where — if MJF wins — The Dynasty will get another Tag Team title shot. If Marshall wins, MJF can’t challenge the Von Erichs for the titles again.

Marshall & Ross Von Erich won the titles by defeating The Dynasty (MJF & Richard Holliday) at last month’s Saturday Night SuperFight pay-per-view.

After the angle where Tom Lawlor turned heel and cost him an MLW World title match against Jacob Fatu, Ross Von Erich is facing Lawlor at Zero Hour.

Zero Hour is MLW’s first event of 2020. It’s taking place at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas on Saturday, January 11 and will also feature Jimmy Havoc vs. Mance Warner in a no ropes barred wire match.

Tom Lawlor vs. Ross Von Erich set for MLW Zero Hour tapings

Tom Lawlor will face off with a Von Erich brother when MLW makes its return to the Dallas area next month.

MLW announced today that Lawlor vs. Ross Von Erich is set for their Zero Hour television tapings in North Richland Hills, Texas on Saturday, January 11. The tapings are taking place at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

The match comes after an angle where Lawlor turned heel against the Von Erichs by costing Ross his match against MLW World Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu. That title match aired on MLW Fusion’s Thanksgiving special, with Lawlor hitting Ross with a steel chair and then saying “F*ck CONTRA” and “F*ck the Von Erichs” after.

Ross & Marshall Von Erich are the current MLW Tag Team Champions. They won the titles from The Dynasty (MJF & Richard Holliday) at last month’s Saturday Night SuperFight pay-per-view.

The Zero Hour tapings will also feature a no ropes barbed wire match between Jimmy Havoc and Mance Warner.

MLW announces no ropes barbed wire match for Zero Hour tapings

MLW has made their first match announcement for their first television tapings of 2020.

It was announced today that Mance Warner and Jimmy Havoc will face off in a no ropes barbed wire match at MLW Zero Hour. The tapings are being held at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas on Saturday, January 11.

MLW hyped the stipulation for the match: “Why a barbed wire match? The answer can be tied [to] Jimmy Havoc brutally attacking Mance Warner with a coil of barbed wire that ultimately put Warner in the hospital. Since that time, the two men have fought and bled in and out of the ring including a Stairway to Hell match that saw Havoc once again bludgeon Mance with barbed wire. Now league officials look to contain both men by having them enter a ring to settle their feud once and for all in a match where the perimeter is wrapped in barbed wire.”

The  NYTEX Sports Centre also hosted MLW’s War Chamber tapings this September.

MLW’s final show of 2019 will be their Opera Cup tapings at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York on Thursday, December 5.

MLW returning to Dallas area for Zero Hour tapings

Ahead of this weekend’s War Chamber tapings, MLW has announced a return date for the Dallas area.

MLW will be back at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas on Saturday, January 11, 2020 for a set of television tapings. MLW: Zero Hour is the name of the event.

Tickets for Zero Hour will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday (September 10) at 10 a.m. Central time. MLW noted that fans attending Saturday’s War Chamber show will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets for Zero Hour.

War Chamber will be the first MLW show to take place at the NYTEX Sports Centre. It’s being headlined by Tom Lawlor, Ross Von Erich, Marshall Von Erich & Low Ki vs. Contra Unit (Jacob Fatu, Josef Samael, Simon Gotch & Ikuro Kwon) in a War Chamber match. The match has War Games-style rules and can be won by pinfall, submission, or surrender once everyone has entered.

Kevin Von Erich will be in Lawlor, Ross, Marshall & Low Ki’s corner for the match. There will also be a tribute to the late Gary Hart at the event.
