MJF-Hangman Page face-to-face part of updated AEW Dynamite lineup

A face-to-face and the Brawling Birds are part of and updated AEW Dynamite lineup.

It was announced on Saturday that MJF will meet Hangman Page in a face-to-face after both were successful at Grand Slam Australia. In the main event, MJF retained the title over Brody King. But as he was celebrating, Hangman Page came out with his title contract and signed it, placing it on MJF’s feet as the champion began talking a big game. Page turned around to leave but then faked MJF out which caused the champion to fall to the floor.

Earlier in the show, Hangman Page emerged victorious over Andrade El Idolo, establishing himself as the next contender for the AEW World title after many AEW stars, including Swerve Strickland and Kenny Omega, expressed interest in a future title match.

The Brawling Birds, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor, will also make their television debut. The two have appeared in vignettes together in recent weeks establishing themselves as part of the women’s tag team division. They made the save for Kris Statlander on Dynamite after she was attacked by all three members of the Triangle of Madness.

World title match official for AEW Revolution

Hangman Page is heading to Revolution.

Page defeated Andrade El Idolo at Grand Slam Australia, pinning him after hitting the buckshot lariat. With the win, he will now head to Los Angeles for AEW Revolution on March 15 where he will challenge MJF.

AEW held a mini-tournament to decide MJF’s opponent for LA next month. Andrade defeated Swerve Strickland and Kenny Omega to get the chance to face Hangman Page, who defeated Mark Davis ahead of his match in Sydney.

Page lost the AEW World title to Samoa Joe at Full Gear thanks to interference from Hook, who turned heel and joined The Opps. However, that title reign ended after a month when MJF won a fatal four-way match, defeating Joe, Swerve, and Page to win the title for a second time. He will defend it later on Saturday when he faces Brody King, who quickly defeated him on a recent edition of AEW Dynamite in a title eliminator match.

MJF credits Cody Rhodes, Tony Khan, Adam Sandler for where he is today

MJF wouldn’t be where he is today without the support he’s received from Cody Rhodes, Tony Khan, and Hollywood star Adam Sandler.

On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, MJF said he and Rhodes still remain in touch despite working for different companies. It was Rhodes who got MJF booked on the first-ever All In back in 2018, and MJF will always appreciate Rhodes for making that happen.

“Yeah, absolutely,” MJF responded when asked if he and Rhodes are still in contact. “Look, I’m not sitting here without Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes booked me for All In, which got me in front of Tony Khan, which got me signed to a contract. Like [CM] Punk, I hope whatever he’s doing, he’s happy right now. And, I mean, you would think he would be.”

Rhodes and Khan were critical to helping MJF’s wrestling career get off the ground. As he branches out into Hollywood, MJF feels that same level of gratitude toward Sandler after working together in “Happy Gilmore 2.”

“When I got to work with him, it was so apparent to me how — obviously, you already know how talented he is, but how much of a good down to earth human being he is,” MJF said. “Like, whatever happens to my career now is because, no different than Cody and Tony taking a chance on me, in my career in LA, is because Adam Sandler took a chance on me. And that’s something I’m never going to forget. And when I make it big, which I will, it’s something I’m never going to let him forget.”

The next movie role for MJF is “Violent Night 2,” which is scheduled to be released this December. In AEW, he is the current World Champion and has a title defense this weekend against Brody King at Grand Slam Australia.

    • I’m extremely proud to be NXT champion and I know that you say it’s the developmental brand, but look, we’re on Netflix here in the UK. That’s huge. So in order to be put in this position, we have to be the absolute top of our game and the competition that we had in that ladder match, I think the quality of the show of NXT is unbelievable and I think if someone hasn’t seen pro wrestling before or they haven’t watched for a little while, that NXT would be an amazing place to start and go and check out because it’s a high energy, action-packed professional wrestling show and it just is everything that a professional wrestling show should be. So I’m so proud to be NXT champion and I’m excited to see where we can take the brand.

Other Wrestling

  • On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, MJF said he feels like he still has a lot to prove in AEW:
    • There’s still a lot for me to prove here. I think it’s very easy for somebody to watch what I’ve done here and be like, ‘Well, Max has proven it.’ It’s like, to me, my first reign was about being the longest reigning World Champion. This reign is going to be about being the best World Champion that this company’s ever had since its inception.
    • I want to drive up business, and that’s something I take a great deal of pride in. I’m not saying it’s not going to be a rollercoaster. We’re going to go up some weeks, we’re going to go down some weeks, but I think we’re going to see a steady increase in 2026.
  • MJF discussed the importance of ticket sales as a business metric:
    • I think people will look at the thing they want to for their narrative. All I know is year-over-year in every single market, we’re up in ticket sales. That’s a proven barometer for that, has been since the dawn of time for professional wrestling that is televised. If you are selling more tickets, that means more people are watching your show. That’s just how it goes, right?
    • So WWE had that big boom period. I feel right now, we’re slowly but surely coming into a new boom period and a new era. And we have young hungry dudes on top of this card that want it.
    • And, really, we’re living in an era in AEW where anything can happen and anybody can come for me for this [title], and it’s exciting.
  • All In 2026 is being advertised on signage at Wembley Stadium following the announcement that tickets will go on sale next month (March 16 pre-sale and March 20 general public on-sale).

MJF names two WWE stars as dream opponents

Two current WWE stars are on MJF’s list of dream opponents.

During an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, MJF named Kevin Owens (as Kevin Steen) and Seth Rollins as two people he would like to face. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and John Cena are some of his other dream opponents, but MJF did not select them due to the Piper match being impossible and Cena now being retired.

“Piper’s always going to be the answer. Alive? I think this answer is going to shock people, because also I will say I can’t pick people that are retired. John would have been my answer, but he’s retired,” MJF said. “So I’m going to say Kevin Steen. [Not Kevin Owens] No, I want Kevin Steen, the one that I watched in Ring of Honor. Not saying Kevin Owens isn’t spectacular. Kevin Owens is one of the best wrestlers in the world and it sucks that he’s hurt right now. It kills me. But Kevin Owens can’t exactly say some of the things that Kevin Steen was able to say back in the day.

“So I want Kevin Steen. That’s a dream match for me. I think that that would probably go down as one of the greatest matches of all time and one of the greatest promos of all time. I think I also have to say Seth Rollins for sure.”

Owens underwent neck surgery in 2025 and does not have a return date yet. He’s set to be featured as a coach on the next season of the A&E series WWE LFG (Legends & Future Greats).

At Super Bowl Radio Row last week, MJF and Rollins met up for what was a pleasant interaction between two top stars of rival companies.

MJF — the AEW World Champion — did not choose any AEW names as dream opponents because it would be a boring answer, but he noted that Swerve Strickland, Andrade El Idolo, and Tommaso Ciampa are among the first-time opponents he would like to wrestle.

The next match for MJF will take place at AEW Grand Slam Australia this Saturday with him defending the AEW World title against Brody King.

MJF: The things CM Punk said in AEW ‘do go against’ what he’s saying now

It’s not MJF’s place to call CM Punk a hypocrite, but he does believe there are some contradictions between what Punk used to say and what he’s saying now.

On a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, MJF looked back on his rivalry with Punk from AEW and how it helped MJF in his career. MJF said he hopes Punk is happy in WWE and is able to enjoy his accomplishments. However, it’s hard to tell if what Punk is saying right now is the truth given that it goes against what he used to say.

“I hope he’s able to enjoy what he’s accomplishing over there. I have no idea, because the things that he said in my company do go against the things that he’s saying now. Some people might say that’s hypocritical. That’s not my place,” MJF said.

“All I know is, since I’ve jumped into pro wrestling, I’ve been saying the same thing since the jump. My tune has not changed. I’m Maxwell Jacob Friedman and I’m better than you and you know it. I also won’t sit here and lie to you and tell you that I didn’t learn so much through my hatred of that man. I learned the difference between good and great. That’s what I learned. Now, do I like him? Again, I’ll reiterate: no. I wouldn’t p*ss on him if he was on fire to put that fire out. But I’m not going to sit here and pretend I didn’t learn from him.”

MJF said he’s learned that, when fans view you as “good,” you can get away with slipping up from time to time. But when you’re considered great, you are not afforded that same forgiveness.

During his AEW feud against MJF, Punk took a shot at WWE by referring to multi-night WrestleManias as a “buy-one-get-one-free extravaganza.” Punk now says he does not differentiate between whether night one or night two of WrestleMania is more important. Some fans have called Punk a hypocrite for that, but Punk says he was just cutting a promo. Punk believes fans who get caught up in things like that are the easiest to work.

MJF stressed that he does not want anyone to make it seem like he’s speaking badly about Punk or WWE. The two are both World Champions at the moment with MJF holding the AEW World title and Punk being the World Heavyweight Champion in WWE.

MJF says WWE is still ‘very much so interested’ in him

According to MJF, WWE still has significant interest in him despite being under contract with AEW.

The AEW World Champion appeared on a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet and reflected on the “bidding war of 2024” storyline where it was teased that he could be leaving AEW for WWE. MJF said WWE was very interested in him at the time and still remains interested to this day.

“You know the answer, there was a lot,” MJF responded when asked how interested WWE was in him. “I had some nice calls with some nice folks who are high up on the chain, and they were interested in me. They’re still very much so interested in me. And I understand why. But I am, for all my faults, one thing I am not is unprofessional. If you put a contract in front of me with the right amount of money, I’m going to do this. I’m going to broadcast how important those three letters [AEW] are. Those three letters are just as important as these. Because you’re paying me to say that. Now, do I believe it’s true? You’ll never know. And that’s the beauty of it. No matter what promotion I’m working for, I’m going to shamelessly shill what’s going on. That’s the beauty. Now, can I look in the camera and say, I really do believe everything I’ve said prior to this? Yes, I can. But they’ll never know.”

MJF sung the praises of AEW on Insight, calling it a great alternative that makes gourmet food. He pointed to himself, Hangman Page, Swerve Strickland, Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, Samoa Joe, Darby Allin, and Will Ospreay as AEW stars who are household names.

When MJF first decided to signed with AEW in 2019, he spent two hours on the phone with Tony Khan discussing their love of old-school territory wrestling. Choosing AEW over WWE was a “no-brainer” for MJF at the time.

“I know I would have been successful if I went over there. I know I’d be successful if I go over there now. That’s why they’re still interested in me,” MJF said about WWE. “I respect what they’re doing. I respect their product. I know that they respect our product because they’ve about a million times tried to counter-program us, slash us any way they can, hurt us any way they can, which, by the way, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. That’s smart business. Try to kill me. Try to kill me before I kill you. It’s f***ing smart. I’m not going to take that away from them.

“But I knew I would have a better opportunity and I would be given more of a leash [in AEW]. Now there’s no leash at all because I’m just stupidly over and I just do whatever the hell I want. But I know I’d be given more of a leash based on the way my now-boss was talking about what his vision is for professional wrestling.”

MJF said he’s proud to be part of AEW and, while he doesn’t know what the future will bring, he believes it is where he will stay. He views his job as AEW World Champion as being responsible for driving ticket sales, ratings, and ensuring TV deal renewals.

MJF appearance announced for AEW Collision

AEW World Champion MJF will appear on this Saturday’s Collision in video form to address his loss to Brody King this past Wednesday.

In a title eliminator on Dynamite, the champion was defeated quickly by King who earned himself a title match at this month’s Grand Slam Australia with the victory. MJF was distracted by Hangman Page, giving King an opening to choke out MJF, followed by a cannonball and gonzo bomb for the quick win.

MJF’s “exclusive” comments were taped following the defeat.

MJF: Other companies are giving you fast food, AEW makes ‘gourmet burgers’

MJF believes AEW’s authenticity is what sets the promotion apart from its competitors.

While making the rounds at Super Bowl Radio Row on Thursday, MJF sat down for an interview with former NFL player Ross Tucker. MJF discussed the formation of the company and the success they’ve had since launching in 2019. He credits that success to how AEW has differentiated itself as an alternative, offering “gourmet burgers” while other promotions are giving fans fast food.

“It’s massively successful,” MJF said about AEW. “Tony Khan is a visionary. He’s a mark, but he’s a visionary. He loved professional wrestling and he saw that there was an opening in the marketplace for an alternative to WWE. Where there is Coke, you can have Pepsi. Where there is McDonald’s, you can have Burger King. And so on and so forth. And they just jumped in and they were able to pitch it in Hollywood. And here we are seven years later, and we’re killing it. We’ve had events with 82,000 people in a stadium at Wembley that I main evented and won, no big deal. We have pay-per-views almost monthly. We’re always normally in the top five on cable and streaming for our shows for Dynamite and Collision. And we’re proud of what we’re doing right now, man. We’re up year-over-year in ticket sales with me as champion — duh, must-see.

“And the thing that I would want to impart on people who, if you’re not a professional wrestling fan or if you are a professional wrestling fan and you haven’t given us a look yet, I think what we bring is, it’s an authenticity. You know, the other companies, it kind of feels like McDonald’s. They’re giving you fast food. We make gourmet burgers. And I think that was a part of Tony Khan’s pitch for sure.”

MJF pointed to the “f*** ICE” chants from Dynamite this week as another way AEW is unlike its competitors. He feels anyone else would have censored the crowd, but AEW listens to the fans, regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum.

“Another thing that’s great at AEW is our fans have a voice. Literally last night, we were in Vegas and they started an ‘f*** ICE’ chant. Now, I don’t care what side of the political line that you land on, there’s no other wrestling promotion that wouldn’t censor the fans,” MJF said. “But we don’t do that, we’re the listening company. So if all the fans want to chant that, we’re going to let them chant that. And I think that that’s inherently really cool and awesome. And I think that’s what makes my company special. We don’t censor the fans. It’s nice. It’s really nice.”

MJF, Brody King respond to news coverage of anti-ICE chants on AEW Dynamite

MJF and Brody King have both responded to NBC News coverage of the crowd chants at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

As the main event was set to begin, the crowd at The Pearl Theater in Las Vegas began chanting “F*** ICE.” Several news outlets including NBC News, TMZ, and others have covered the story.

On Thursday, NBC News wrote, “Fans at an All Elite Wrestling match broke out into an anti-ICE chant that briefly paused the pro-wrestling match and appeared to startle one of the wrestlers in the ring.”

This led MJF to respond that he was not startled:

“The world champion wasn’t startled. He’s better than you and you know it.
Watch @AEW Wednesday night on TBS and streaming on HBOMAX.
And watch AEW on Saturday nights on TNT and streaming on HBOMAX.”

King responded to the same NBC News post, writing:

“I’m glad that we could both see how visibly frightened @The_MJF was of me.
Watch me end his title reign next Saturday 2/14 across the world at Grand Slam Australia on TNT and streaming on HBOMAX. @AEW”

Referee Bryce Remsburg also indicated on social media on Thursday that he may have delayed the opening bell to allow the chants to be heard for longer. He wrote, “It seems like the referee may have waited to ring the bell so these could resonate longer? Oh no. Whoops.”

Before Wednesday’s match against MJF on Dynamite, Brody King shared that his recent fundraising efforts for the Minnesota Immigrants’ Rights Action Committee Education Fund through Headlocked Comics and Edgemen Printing had raised $58,904.09.

King defeated MJF following a distraction by Hangman Page in the main event of Wednesday’s show. They’ll meet again for the title at Grand Slam Australia on February 14.

WWE and AEW stars meet up at Super Bowl Radio Row

At Super Bowl Radio Row on Thursday, one of the top stars in WWE met up with the current AEW World Champion.

Seth Rollins and MJF were both in San Francisco on Thursday for Super Bowl week media appearances. While there, the two took some time to have a conversation that was captured in a brief clip by Bleacher Report. Another video showed Rollins and MJF jokingly facing off before then exchanging pleasantries.

“I appreciate you, man,” MJF told Rollins.

“Somebody’s going to get mad. But, hey, it was awesome, dude,” Rollins responded.

Rollins is a huge football fan and has been branching out into sports media more over the past year. Currently sidelined with a rotator cuff injury, Rollins has used the free time to take on more of those opportunities. He was not able to compete at the Royal Rumble due to his injury but is hoping to make it back in time for WrestleMania 42 this April.

At Radio Row, MJF’s appearances included guest spots on Mostly Sports with Mark Titus & Brandon Walker and The K&C Masterpiece. MJF is coming off a loss to Brody King on Dynamite last night, which set up that he will defend his AEW World Championship against King at Grand Slam Australia on February 14.

CM Punk and Big E were among the other wrestling personalities at Radio Row this week for interviews. With so many eyes focused on the football game and an abundance of media outlets in town, celebrities from all forms of entertainment are brought in to promote their products.

Referee Bryce Remsburg indicates he encouraged ‘f*** ICE’ chants on AEW Dynamite

As the main event of AEW Dynamite was about to begin last night, it appears that referee Bryce Remsburg gave fans an extra moment to continue chanting before ringing the bell.

The Dynamite main event on Wednesday saw AEW World Champion MJF face off against Brody King in a title eliminator match. Before the bell rang, the fans in Las Vegas broke out in a “f*** ICE” chant, which has drawn attention today extending outside of the wrestling bubble. King is a vocal critic of ICE (United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and has released merchandise calling for the law enforcement agency to be abolished.

Remsburg was the referee for last night’s match and indicated that he delayed signaling for the opening bell to ring so fans could have more time to chant.

“It seems like the referee may have waited to ring the bell so these could resonate longer?,” Remsburg tweeted in response to a clip of the moment. “Oh no. Whoops.”

The role of ICE has been a significant point of contention in Donald Trump’s second presidential term, with criticism of the organization ramping up following the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis last month.

King was the victor of last night’s Dynamite main event, setting the stage for him to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship at Grand Slam Australia on February 14.

MJF vs. Brody King World title match set for AEW Grand Slam Australia

After a shocking squash match, AEW World Champion MJF will defend against Brody King at this month’s Grand Slam Australia in Sydney.

King defeated MJF in a World title eliminator that headlined Wednesday’s Dynamite, one that King won in mere minutes thanks to a distraction assist from Hangman Page. King took advantage with his apron sleeper and after getting MJF back in the ring, he hit his gonzo bomb for the quick victory and the title shot.

Page and Andrade El Idolo will also square off on the card for the right to challenge the World Champion at March’s Revolution. Those two men, MJF and King were all part of the show’s final segment that saw King standing tall.

It will be the third title defense for MJF and the first appearance in the country for the champion. King is looking for his first AEW singles title in this, his first AEW World title shot.

Current AEW Grand Slam Australia card | February 14 | Sydney, Australia

  • AEW World Champion MJF defends against Brody King
