Show Recap —

There was a video package of the Usos beating RK-Bro to unify the tag team titles on Smackdown. Riddle will team up with the Street Profits against the Usos and Sami Zayn tonight. Jimmy Smith said it was a surprise to see Riddle wrestling tonight after being splashed through a table on Friday.

Riddle entered alone. The crowd chanted for him. Riddle was disappointed. He was also emotional.

He called Randy Orton his best friend, his dude, his bro. Riddle said the last couple of years have been hard for Orton — particularly the past few months. Riddle said Orton had a bad back and could barely walk before the unification match. Riddle said Orton knew how much the match meant to him and to all the fans so he went through with it.

They lost the match and he wanted to give the Usos credit but he hated that they lost the way they did. He called Roman Reigns a tribal piece of trash and promised to get his vengeance on the Bloodline before his career was over.

Riddle loved and appreciated Orton but he didn’t know what the future held for RK-Bro. He wasn’t sure they’d ever team again. He knew Orton was watching at home so he led the crowd in an “R-K-Bro” chant.

********

The announcers ran down tonight’s card. There was a countdown to Cody Rhodes’ match against the Miz. Rhodes’ segment will once again be at the top of the 10pm hour.

The Usos cut a pre-match promo saying they accomplished what they said they would. They took out Orton, ended RK-Bro, and had kids and grown men crying.

Riddle attacked the Usos during their entrance and the Street Profits joined in. Officials tried separating everyone as they went to commercial break.

(They did the opening Riddle promo, went to break, did the remaining entrances and Usos promo before going to break again. The match started at 8:23pm.)

Six-man tag team match: Riddle & The Street Profits defeated Sami Zayn & Tag Team Champions The Usos (12:36)

Zayn wrestled in a Bloodline t-shirt. They went to break just over four minutes into the match after the Usos superkicked Montez Ford outside the ring. Ford attempted a comeback but the Usos wiped out his partners. Ford returned the favour by knocking Zayn and Jimmy Uso off the apron before giving Jey Uso an enziguri.

Riddle made the hot tag and hit Jimmy with a knee strike before handing out forearms, suplexes and sentons to Jimmy and Zayn. Angelo Dawkins took out the Usos before Ford wiped them out with a dive.

Riddle gave Zayn a draping DDT before chasing the Usos off the apron. The Usos decided to just leave so Riddle planted Zayn with an RKO for the pinfall win.

Riddle, Ford and Dawkins all did Orton’s pose after the match.

********

They announced a rematch between Bobby Lashley and Omos at Hell in a Cell.

Bobby Lashley’s All Mighty Challenge

Lashley was in a good mood after beating Omos in a cage match last week but he knew their war wasn’t over and wasn’t surprised to learn they’d be fighting again at HIAC. Lashley invited Omos and MVP to enter and they did.

MVP complained about last week’s result and blamed it on faulty equipment. (It probably would’ve been better to claim it was entirely due to Omos’ incredible strength.)

Lashley announced his challenge: he would wrestle MVP tonight and the winner would pick the stipulation for HIAC. MVP said he made Lashley before Lashley said he’s the one who made MVP. Lashley threatened to put MVP down with the Hurt Lock.

MVP tried a poorly planned sneak attack as Omos distracted Lashley but Lashley knocked him off the apron anyway.

(This wasn’t much of a segment and it felt like they could have just had Lashley announce this quickly backstage.)

********

[SECOND HOUR]

They announced their next show in Saudi Arabia.

Backstage, Dana Brooke told Adam Pearce that she wanted a future Women’s title match. As she left, Becky Lynch barged in wearing Jerry Seinfeld’s pirate shirt. She complained about Asuka cheating to win last week.

Pearce signed a rematch against Asuka tonight and if she won, she’d get a title shot at HIAC. Lynch was delighted to hear it. She was less enthused when he said that if she’d won, it would be a triple threat.

The Judgment Day segment

Edge, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley entered at 8:53pm but their segment didn’t start until 9:01pm.

They spoke for a while, encouraging people to join them. Edge said he wasn’t chosen to be a top guy like John Cena, he was a miracle of his own hard work. He went on again about the fans being sheep who just do whatever their bosses tell them. He said anyone who joined them would have the opportunity to crash through the glass ceiling the way he did many years ago.

Edge wondered who their next member would be. Maybe it would be Tommaso Ciampa, Corey Graves, Alexa Bliss, Drew McIntyre, Liv Morgan, Finn Bálor or AJ Styles. He told Styles that if he joined them, his kids could refer to him as Uncle Edge.

Mixed tag team match: Rhea Ripley & Damian Priest (w/Edge) defeated Liv Morgan & AJ Styles (11:37)

Morgan took control over Ripley and wiped her out with a dive before Styles clocked Priest with a sliding knee off the apron. Morgan and Styles were getting a fair bit of offense before Ripley distracted Styles, allowing Priest to slam him onto the apron leading to break.

Styles gave Priest a Pelé kick and made the hot tag to Morgan who knocked down Ripley with a missile dropkick and Codebreaker but Edge put Ripley’s leg on the rope to break up the cover. Styles attacked Edge and after Priest tried to save him, Styles knocked him down too.

Morgan attempted Oblivion but Edge held Ripley’s pants to help block the move. Morgan fell and Ripley cradled her for the pinfall win.

— Styles went after Edge after the match but the trio teamed up on him. Edge and Priest gave Styles their spear/leg sweep move and Ripley powerbombed Morgan.

********

Miz told Kevin Patrick that he, like Seth Rollins, was sick of Cody Rhodes and said you can’t trust a man with a neck tattoo. Miz said Rhodes could never beat him six years ago and now his ego was so out of control that he had more fireworks than the fourth of July. Miz called himself the Kim Kardashian of WWE because people always wanted to know what he was doing. He plugged his show and told Patrick to go away.

********

Jerry Lawler’s King’s Court with guest Veer Mahaan

Lawler asked Mahaan his secret to success. Mahaan just stared him down. Lawler asked why he has targeted the Mysterios. Mahaan said nothing.

Lawler thought it was because of a joke that Rey supposedly told him: Mahaan was so hairy that when he walks his dog, people pet him. And Dominik told him that Mahaan was so hairy that Big Foot took a picture of him.

Mahaan grabbed the mic. He called Rey a legend but he was too concerned with his boy. That made Rey weak so he took them both out. Mahaan wondered if he smelled fear on Lawler. Lawler said it was just his cheap cologne.

Mahaan threatened to go after Lawler but Rey and Dominik marched out. They managed to fend off Mahaan who decided to back off.

********

Sarah Schreiber asked Alexa Bliss about Sonya Deville’s recent actions. Bliss sarcastically suggested that Deville seek therapy since he helped her so much. Bliss was looking forward to facing her old partner Nikki ASH and was happy to be back.

(As Nikki entered, Graves mentioned that Sasha Banks and Naomi left last week and disappointed the WWE universe.)

Alexa Bliss defeated Nikki A.S.H. (w/Doudrop) (3:00)

Bliss won fairly quickly with Twisted Bliss.

********

Patrick interviewed Seth Rollins about Cody Rhodes. Rollins said the fans used to sing his song every night in every city but now all he hears are “Cody” chants and it made him physically ill to hear that name. He couldn’t believe there was a Cody countdown clock and wondered where the countdown clock was for him. He said there was a clock in his head and asked, “what happens when the clock strikes zero?” He cackled.

*********

Cody Rhodes entered. He gave his weight belt to a young fan in the front row.

[THIRD HOUR]

There was an Asuka video package followed by an interview. Asuka told Schreiber that Lynch was not ready for her last week because she was too busy crying and she cried so much that she got a rematch. Asuka planned on beating her again and turning her into “Big Time Baby.”

Cody Rhodes defeated The Miz via disqualification (8:56)

Rhodes entered at 9:54pm. The match started at 10:03pm.

Rhodes was in control until Miz crotched him on the top rope and booted him to the outside. After a break, Miz was in control but he runs so slowly that Rhodes was able to dodge a corner clothesline. Rhodes followed with a powerslam, Cody cutter and a Figure Four but Miz got a rope break.

Rhodes went to the top, perhaps for a moonsault to the outside, but Rollins ran down and shoved him off for the DQ.

— Rollins and Miz double-teamed Rhodes after the match. Rollins drove Rhodes into the steel steps and Rhodes sold it like his knee was injured.

As Rollins was leaving, he yanked Rhodes’ weight belt away from the fan in the front row. Rollins hit Rhodes in the back with the belt before leaving.

Rhodes slowly got back to his feet as the fans chanted for him. He grabbed the belt, limped to the fan and gave it back to him before leaving with help from the referee.

This match was a waste of time but that last bit with the belt was great.

********

Ezekiel defeated Chad Gable (w/Otis & Kevin Owens) (4:24)

Owens sat at ringside near the commentary table. He wasn’t technically on commentary but he loudly yelled at them for lying about Elias.

Otis tripped Ezekiel which allowed Gable to attack and target his leg. Ezekiel got his feet up on a moonsault attempt and followed with a Stinger Splash. Otis decked Ezekiel as Gable distracted the referee but the ref still figured out what happened so he tossed Otis from ringside. (We just had a DQ for practically the same thing in the previous match.)

The ref turned around just in time to see that Owens was able to attack Ezekiel so he got tossed too. Ezekiel then rolled up Gable for the pinfall win.

— After the match, they tried to attack Ezekiel but he bailed through the crowd. Owens said he was sick of this and challenged Ezekiel to a match at HIAC. Ezekiel accepted.

********

Patrick interviewed Rhodes as he left the trainer’s room. Rhodes was dinged up but he could still put weight on his leg which was good news for him but bad news for Rollins. He said it was dawning on Rollins that he was about to go 0-3 against him. If Rollins wanted to finish the job at HIAC, Rhodes would be waiting for him.

********

MVP (w/Omos) defeated Bobby Lashley via count-out (3:07)

This was so dumb.

MVP stalled before feigning an injury to distract the referee which allowed Omos to deck Lashley with a clothesline. This was a different ref than the last match and he was too stupid to figure out what happened. MVP followed with a running boot but Lashley came back with a flatliner before driving MVP into the ring post.

Omos was about to attack Lashley outside the ring but Lashley fought him off and the ref called for the bell. I initially thought this was a DQ but it was actually a count-out. You’d think the ref would give Lashley a break considering he was being attacked by someone who was not in the match.

Lashley was disappointed that he got counted out and he put MVP in the Hurt Lock anyway.

(MVP and Omos get to pick the stipulation for HIAC.)

********

Lacy Evans returns to action next week.

********

10:39pm: Bianca Belair enters. Commercial break.
10:44pm: Asuka enters. Lynch enters.
10:47pm: Match begins.
10:49pm: Commercial break.
10:52pm: Match resumes.

(I wasn’t going to post the times this week but this timed out almost precisely the same as last week. This match did get an extra 90 seconds, though.)

********

Becky Lynch defeated Asuka (11:27)

They collided with clotheslines which led to duelling chants. Asuka followed with a German suplex, running hip attack, strikes and a sliding knee for two. Lynch tried a cover with her feet on the ropes but Asuka kicked out and hit a Codebreaker for two. Asuka followed later with a superplex off the middle rope for two.

Lynch dodged a running hip attack and applied a Disarmer between the ropes. Asuka fought back with strikes before knocking her out of the ring with the running hip attack.

Asuka hit a knee strike and Lynch fell into Belair’s lap (she was watching at ringside). Asuka tried a kick but Lynch ducked and Asuka nailed Belair in the head.

Lynch drove Asuka into the table before Asuka scrambled back in the ring to avoid a count-out but Lynch rolled her up for the pinfall win.

The title match is now a triple threat at HIAC.

Each wrestler has local ties to the team that they announced selections for, as The Miz is from Ohio, Corbin is from Kansas, O’Neil is from Florida, and Steveson attends the University of Minnesota.

Miz and O’Neil’s appearances were announced ahead of time in a press release by WWE last week.

The first round of the NFL Draft was held on Thursday night, while rounds two and three were held on Friday. Rounds four through seven will be held on Saturday.

Mustafa Ali returns to WWE TV on Raw, faces The Miz

Mustafa Ali returned to Raw tonight, confronting The Miz and Austin Theory.

Miz was talking to Theory on Miz TV when Ali interrupted. After The Miz made a crack asking if Ali still worked in WWE, Ali said he was talking to official Adam Pearce when he saw that Theory would be on Miz TV and wanted to challenge Theory to a United States title match. After Theory rejected the challenge, Ali said Theory was running away from a fight like The Miz. A match was eventually made between Ali and Miz, with Miz telling Ali that after their match, Ali would wish that he would have gotten his walking papers.

The two proceeded to have their match, with Ali getting the win after reversing a figure four attempt into a roll-up. As he was walking to the back, however, he was attacked and laid out by Tommaso Ciampa.

Ali’s return to television tonight follows a report from Fightful Select on Sunday that a return to television was being discussed for Ali. He had requested his release from WWE back in January after Ali reportedly had an argument with Vince McMahon over the direction of his character. The release was not granted. He had not been on television since the October 29 edition of SmackDown.

WWE’s The Miz, Titus O’Neil to announce selections at 2022 NFL Draft

WWE’s The Miz and Titus O’Neil will take part in the 2022 NFL Draft next week in Las Vegas.

WWE revealed today that Miz and O’Neil will announce draft selections for their respective hometown teams, with O’Neil representing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Miz representing the Cleveland Browns.

It was not stated which picks the WWE stars would be announcing beyond O’Neil’s appearance coming on the second day of the NFL Draft on Friday, April 29, also O’Neil’s 45th birthday.

“I’m honored to represent my Hometown NFL team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, at this year’s NFL Draft. As a person who holds a great relationship with many of the players and someone who enjoys an impactful partnership with the Bucs organization serving the Tampa Bay Region through my Bullard Family Foundation, this is truly a special moment. This opportunity to announce the name of the next great contributor to our community both on and off the field is an honor that I’ll never forget. It’s also the BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT ever as I get to celebrate on my birthday this very special occasion with the NFL, the Bucs, the Tampa Bay community, and the player selected,” O’Neil said in a statement on WWE.com.

“I am thrilled to head to Las Vegas to represent my hometown Cleveland Browns at the NFL Draft. As someone who grew up a huge Browns fan, the opportunity to play a small part in the future of the franchise is a dream come true. This is going to be AWESOME,” Miz said in a statement.

WWE Raw video highlights: Cody Rhodes vs. The Miz

On last night’s episode of Raw, Cody Rhodes had his first televised match on the show since 2016.

After a Miz TV segment with them earlier in the night, Cody defeated The Miz in his return to action on Raw. Seth Rollins watched Cody vs. Miz from ringside and then stepped into the ring after the match.

Rollins said — because Cody was a surprise opponent for him — Cody had every single advantage when they faced off at WrestleMania 38. Rollins challenged Cody to a rematch. Cody accepted, and Cody vs. Rollins II was made official for WrestleMania Backlash.

Also on last night’s show, The Usos confronted RK-Bro in search of a Tag Team title unification match, Sonya Deville named herself as Bianca Belair’s next challenger, and more.

Cody Rhodes to face The Miz on WWE Raw

Monday’s Raw will feature Cody Rhodes’ first televised match on the show since 2016.

WWE has announced that Cody will face The Miz on Raw this Monday. Cody made his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 night one last Saturday, defeating Seth Rollins.

The former AEW executive vice president then cut a promo on the Raw after WrestleMania. Cody said that, ever since he was a child, his dream was to win the WWE Championship for his father. Cody said he thought that dream died with Dusty Rhodes. But even though Dusty may not physically be here anymore, it’s still a dream Cody can accomplish. Cody vowed to do it for the fans, himself, his family, and Dusty.

Rollins appeared after Cody’s promo. When they went face-to-face, Cody extended his hand for a handshake. Rollins accepted the handshake, cackled, and told Cody “welcome home.” It wasn’t clear what Rollins’ intentions were.

Cody defeated Kevin Owens in a dark match after the post-WrestleMania Raw went off the air.

The Miz & Logan Paul defeated Rey & Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania. Following the match, Miz turned against Paul.

WWE has also added a VIP Lounge segment with MVP and Omos to Monday’s Raw. After Bobby Lashley defeated Omos at WrestleMania, MVP betrayed Lashley on Raw and aligned with Omos.

Monday’s Raw is taking place at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Here’s the updated lineup for the episode:

  • Cody Rhodes vs. The Miz
  • AJ Styles vs. Damian Priest
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Naomi defend against Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan
  • Rey Mysterio vs. Veer Mahaan
  • The VIP Lounge with Omos

Logan Paul’s deal with WWE included babyface turn

Logan Paul’s deal with WWE included an agreement that he would turn babyface.

Following their victory over the Mysterios at WrestleMania 38, The Miz turned on Paul and gave him a Skull-Crushing Finale. Our own Dave Meltzer noted on Monday’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, that Paul turning babyface was part of his agreement with WWE.

“When they made the deal with Logan Paul to do this angle, part of the deal was when the angle is over, he’d be a babyface. That was the idea. That was negotiated, that was negotiated in the deal,” Meltzer said.

During an interview with TalkSport last month, Paul said he was interested in helping behind-the-scenes and with creative in WWE.

“If I continue my involvement in WWE, hopefully I can bring stuff to the table that switches it up. I’m an innovator and I’m always here to pitch ideas and at the end of the day I’m creative. If I can get more involved in the behind the scenes stuff with Vince’s approval, that would be fun,” he said.

The Miz turns on Logan Paul at WWE WrestleMania 38

The partnership between Logan Paul and The Miz was short-lived.

The two defeated Rey and Dominik Mysterio tonight during the first night of WrestleMania 38. After the match, the two celebrated briefly before The Miz laid out Paul with the Skull Crushing Finale. Paul was stunned as Miz exited the ring and continued to celebrate.

The finish of the match had The Mysterios going for the finish on Paul. However, the Miz tagged himself in and and slammed Domink into Rey. Miz then hit Rey with the Skull Crushing finale to pick up the win.

The Miz originally introduced Paul as his tag team partner, challenging The Mysterios to a match at WrestleMania due to the Miz feeling that Rey Mysterio didn’t respect him. Miz went as far as stealing Rey’s mask and presenting it to Paul in the weeks leading to tonight’s match.

Jake Paul, Logan’s brother, appeared in the pre-show panel prior to tonight’s WrestleMania event and hyped the tag team match.

WWE NXT live results: Miz TV with Dolph Ziggler

The Miz makes his NXT 2.0 debut tonight for a segment with the new NXT Champion.

Tonight’s show will feature a Miz TV segment with Dolph Ziggler. At Roadblock last week, Ziggler defeated Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa in a triple threat match to win the NXT Championship.

Breakker will likely be out for revenge after losing the NXT title without being pinned. After Robert Roode interfered to help cost Breakker last week’s title match, Ziggler pinned Ciampa to win the title.

Santos Escobar and Cameron Grimes will clash in a Stand & Deliver qualifying match tonight. The winner will become the first challenger to qualify for the ladder match for Carmelo Hayes’ North American Championship at NXT Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania weekend.

NXT UK star A-Kid also makes his NXT 2.0 debut as he takes on Kushida tonight, Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta will face off to determine who is the better woman, and Sarray faces Tiffany Stratton.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opens with a tribute to Scott Hall.

A video recap shows the finish of last week’s main event, where Dolph Ziggler won the NXT Championship with help from Robert Roode.

This week’s episode kicks off with a main roster segment. Like an episode of Monday Night Raw, it is of course a talking segment.

Miz enters the soundstage for MizTV. The new NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler is the guest for MizTV, along with Roode.

The former champion, Bron Breakker, showed up earlier today at the Performance Center in a rage. Breakker had his sights set on Ziggler, yet Breakker was unable to find him. Coaches apparently got him to leave, and Breakker burned rubber out of the parking lot is his sports car.

Ziggler and Mix were hamming it up when they were interrupted by LA Knight, since it would not be an authentic talking segment on a pro wrestling show without an interruption.

The crowd inside the soundstage loudly chant for Knight. He soaks it in, and then he turns his attention to Ziggler. Knight cuts a promo basically challenging Ziggler, but Ziggler blows him off. Ziggler says he is a fighting champion, but he “only fights superstars.”

Miz sarcastically put over Knight before saying Knight would be a major player … just not yet.

Knight removes his leather jacket, and he at first admits he isn’t a superstar. Knight proclaims he is a megastar. Knight says he can take that title from Ziggler at any time, and he even actually used the word “title” when saying it.

Ziggler earlier said he is NXT, a takeoff on the “we are NXT” slogan. Knight corrects Ziggler, saying NXT is his show. Knight gets the crowd to chant for him. Knight says Ziggler has his title.

Ziggler responds by saying “the world needs ditch diggers too, kid.” Odd response, but Ziggler follows up by saying the champ only wrestles in the main event. The day Knight figures that out he will find Ziggler. Okay., sure.

Miz this screams that Ziggler will defind the championship against Knight in the main event, so the match is apparently official for later tonight.

NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams enter the soundstage. They are guest commentators for the next match, which is a qualifier for the title ladder match for Hayes’ championship at Stand & Deliver.

Cora Jade in a backstage interview says that Raquel Gonzalez is out of action for four to six weeks, after an injury at the hands of Toxic Attraction. Jade in turn stole the NXT Women’s Championship and Women’s Tag Team Championship belts, which belong to Toxic Attraction. Jade smirks as he walks away with the three title belts.

Santos Escobar (with Legado del Fantasma) defeats Cameron Grimes in a North American Championship Qualifying Match

Escobar pins Grimes, so Escobar qualifies for the ladder match at Stand & Deliver.

Hayes and Williams were entertaining on commentary. They howled with laughter when Legado del Fantasma distracted Grimes, allowing them to waylay Grimes.

Escobar with the underhanded advantage as the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break. Escobar still in control as the show returns from the break. Grimes was a babyface in peril.

Grimes fights back and he makes a comeback. Grimes is running wild. Slight mix-up at one point, but they recover quickly. Grimes goes for flying crossbody off the top rope, but Grimes gets his knees up to block it. Near fall for Escobar.

Grimes counters Escobar to execute his version of a running Spanish fly. Escobar kicks out at two. Grimes signals for his Cave In finisher, but Grimes glances at Hayes at ringside for a split second. That allows Escobar to deliver a Phantom Driver, and he covers Grimes for a three count.

Escobar qualifies for the ladder match at Stand & Deliver where he challenges Hayes for the North American title.

In a pre-tape promo, Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray cut a promo vowing to win the Women’s Dusty Cup.

Toxic Attraction in a backstage skit were looking in the locker room for their stolen championship belts. They ran into Wendy Choo and Dakota Kai. My guess is this segment was supposed to be comedy, but the faction has history with Choo & Kai.

A-Kid defeats Kushida (with Ikemen Jiro)

A-Kid in his NXT debut match pins Kushida.

At the start of the match an announcement proclaimed this match a qualifier for a qualifying match. The winner of this match goes on to face Grayson Waller next week in a North American Championship Qualifying Match.

Kushida and A-Kid had a grappling clinic before A-Kid springboards into a tornado DDT. Awkward landing by Kushida, and A-Kid covers him for a pinfall.

Santos Escobar is backstage flanked by Legado del Fantasma. Escobar is cutting a post-match promo after his victory. He is wearing a Legado del Fantsama tee shirt that spoofs the LWO. Pretty rad.

Rey Mysterio appears in NXT cameo

Escobar is suddenly interrupted by Rey Mysterio and his son, Dominik Mysterio. Escobar shakes Mysterio’s hand, but the meeting soon turns to shade.

They trade barbs at each other, leading to Dominik challenging someone from Legado del Fantasma to a match. Raul Mendoza accepts the challenge. Escobar warns Mysterio that Mysterio is making a big mistake.

Tiffany Stratton defeats Sarray

Stratton pins Sarray in a quick match.

Stratton attacks Sarray backstage before the match. Sarray is unable to “transform” into her gear, so she has to wrestle the match in a schoolgirl costume.

Stratton wins after a short match. Sarray took a spill to the outside at one point, and Stratton soon delivers a Muta handspring elbow. Stratton follows with a corkscrew splash, and she scores a three count.

LA Knight and Gunther are arguing backstage, so they will likely meet in a match soon.

Cora Jade had a trap ready for Jacy Jayne. Jade is able to lock Jayne in a cage like when Sting and friends were trapped in at Clash of the Champions back in the day.

Tony D’Angelo challenges Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa enters the ring for a monologue promo. Ciampa waxes about his career, and he talks about his run in NXT. Ciampa says he ran with the ball when it was given it him. He was grateful for that.

The crowd with a thank you chant as Ciampa discusses his NXT career. Ciampa shifts his speech to him thanking the fans.

“Please don’t go” chants from the crowd. Ciampa says he does not know where he goes from here.

Ciampa mentions having to vacate the NXT title before a TakeOver because of injury. He wanted to right that wrong be being champion heading into Stand & Deliver, but he failed when he lost his match last week.

Ciampa wonders to himself is this a perfect way to close this chapter. The crowd chants for one more match. Ciampa says he does not have an answer, but you don’t always get the opportunity to say thank you. So, Ciampa thanks the fans. He thanks them from the bottom of his heart.

Tony D’Angelo suddenly appears standing behind Ciampa. D’Angelo says he could have jumped Ciampa, but he instead stands in front of him for a challenge. D’Aneglo wants somehow to defeat that would put him in the history books. Who would make him a top guy in NXT?

D’Angelo challenges Ciampa to a match at Stand & Deliver. Ciampa accepts the challenege, and he and shakes D’Angelo’s hand. D’Angelo with a cheap shot low blow, and he stands over a fallen Ciampa. Looks like Ciampa against D’Angelo at Stand & Deliver.

Indi Hartwell defeats Persia Pirotta

Hartwell pins a distracted Pirotta. This appears to build towards a mixed tag match.

They both share an entrance like this was a tag match, except they bicker on their way to the ring. The bickering soon turns to fighting.

The strained friendship can only get worse as Duke Hudson comes to ringside. Huge pop from the crowd as Dexter Lumis crawls out from underneath the ring. He stares down Hudson.

The arrival of Lumis also distracts Pirotta, allowing Hartwell to roll her up for a pinfall.

Pirotta and Hartwell after the match face off with their lovers be their side. Pirotta and Hartwell try to one-up the other with PDAs. The couples make out in the ring.

Cora Jade sets another trap for Toxic Attraction. Gigi Dolan is lured into a trash dumpster, and in a callback to a feud pitting the New Age Outlaws against Chainsaw Charlie & Cactus Jack, Jade uses a forklift to trap Dolan in the dumpster.

Dominik Mysterio (with Rey Mysterio) defeats Raul Mendoza

Mysterio pins Mendoza in short match with a lot going on at ringside.

The match gets underway, but it is soon overshadowed by happenings at ringside. Elektra Lopez interferes, which brings out Fallon Henley. She pulls Lopez off the apron. Lopez and Joaquin Wilde gets into Henley’s face. Out comes Briggs & Jensen to back up Henley.

Meanwhile, Escobar is knocked off his feet by a forearm from Rey Mysterio at ringside. Dominik with a 619, and he follows up with a frog splash on Mendoza. Dominik then covers Mendoza to score a pinfall.

Briggs, Jensen, and Henley celebrate with the Mysterios after the match.

Scott Hall is honored with a video tribute.

Cora Jade is outside the building with the stolen NXT Women’s Championship. Jade also has a can of what appears to be spray paint. Jade gets into a SUV with the title belt and the spray paint can.

In keeping with the theme of this running skit spoofing famous angles of the past, Mandy Rose pops up like when The Undertaker scares Stephanie McMahon.

Jade and Rose brawl in the parking lot, and Rose pummels Jade. Rose says Jade will never be on her level. Rose then sprays paint on Jade.

Tag title triple threat set for Stand & Deliver

The Creed Brothers are in the ring with Malcolm Bivens, and they are angry. The Creeds want their attackers to reveal themselves. They were attacked last week by mystery assailants, and this week they are pissed off about it.

MSK comes out to confront the Creeds. They deny attacking the Creeds. The crowd heels on MSK.

Bivens chimes in to cut a promo on MSK when MSK starts talking about getting a title shot.

NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium interrupt the confrontation. Imperium is on a perch overlooking the ring. They say neither team can take the titles from them.

More bickering among the teams. Imperium then says they are willing to put their titles on the line in a triple threat match at Stand & Deliver. Add another match to the Stand & Deliver card.

Cameron Grimes in a backstage interview is distraught over not having a spot on the Stand & Deliver card.

The Creed Brothers and Malcolm Bivens in a backstage skit accuse Grizzled Young Veterans of being the mystery attackers. This sets up a match between the two teams for next Tuesday on NXT.

NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler (with Robert Roode) defeats LA Knight to retain his title

Ziggler pins Knight to retain in a decent enough match. After the match, Breakker challenges Ziggler to a title match at Stand & Deliver.

They were going back-and-forth early on. Knight fires up to execute a powerslam for a near fall, just before the show cuts to its final commercial break. Ziggler was able to cut off Knight during the break, and Ziggler was working over Knight when the show returns from commercials.

Ziggler with Knight grounded on the mat with a sleeper, but Knight miraculously is able to escape. Knight goes on to block a Famouser.

Knight begins a comeback, and he is a house of fire. Knight feeds off the crowd as he kicks butt in the ring.

Split-screen cutaway to the parking lot where Bron Breakker is back. As if Breakker is the new Stone Cold, he looks to be on his way to open a can like it is 1998.

The match continues in the ring, and they build to LA Knight executing a superplex on Ziggler. That leads to a close near fall.

Roode interferes, but that interference backfires at first. Knight counters with a version of the Burning Hammer, and he covers Ziggler. Roode puts Ziggler’s foot on the rope to break the count, thus saving the title for Ziggler.

They counter each other’s signature moves. Knight misses a charge into a corner, and he eats a superkick from Ziggler. A three count later and Ziggler retains by pinfall.

Bron Breakker enters the ring after the match. Breakker confronts Ziggler. Roode tries to step in between them, but Breakker decks Roode with a punch.

Breakker confronts Ziggler and challenges him to a title match at Stand & Deliver. Ziggler holds up the title and Ziggler accepts the challenge. Looks like the main event for Stand & Deliver is set.
