Two more matches announced for tonight’s AEW Dynamite

Two new matches have been added to tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

Kenny Omega & Hangman Page will team up to take on Kip Sabian and Shawn Spears. Page recently left The Elite, prefering to go his own way.

Luchasaurus, meanwhile, will take on Sammy Guevara in a singles match. The Jurassic Express confronted Inner Circle leader Chris Jericho last week, which will lead to a match between Jungle Boy and Chris Jericho on next week’s broadcast.

Already announced tonight is a Texas Street Fight between The Young Bucks and Santana & Ortiz, as well as Emi Sakura vs. Big Swole, who has officially signed with the company.

MJF will also have an answer to Cody’s challenge that he made last week. Cody will also be in action, teaming with QT Marshall to take on The Butcher & The Blade, who attacked Cody two weeks ago.

Dynamite will take place tonight at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.

Luchasaurus returns on AEW Dynamite

Luchasaurus returned from injury tonight at AEW Dynamite, helping his friends ward off The Dark Order.

The Dark Order had defeated the team of Jungle Boy & Marko Stunt on tonight’s episode of Dynamite. After the match, Evil Uno asked Marko Stunt to join them. Stunt didn’t seem interested. The Dark Order, along with their minions, attacked Stunt and Jungle Boy and was about to put their mask on Jungle Boy when Luchasaurus arrived and laid everyone out. The trio then hugged afterwards.

Luchasaurus had been out for several weeks following a hamstring injury that he suffered just hours before the October 16 edition of AEW Dynamite. He was originally set to team with Jungle Boy to take on The Lucha Bros. in a AEW Tag Team tournament match. Marko Stunt ended up teaming with Jungle Boy instead in a losing effort.

Luchasaurus noted his return in a short and simple tweet on Twitter: “I’m back”.

Report: Luchasaurus injured, out of AEW tag team tourney match

According to PW Insider’s Mike Johnson, Luchasaurus has an injured hamstring and is out of Wednesday’s tag team championship tournament match on AEW Dynamite.

Filling in to team with Jungle Boy is fellow Jurassic Express member Marko Stunt. The duo will face the Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr and Fenix) in a first round bout.

Johnson said the call was made to pull the big man from the match this afternoon so he wouldn’t further aggravate the injury.

AEW debuts in Philadelphia tonight with that match, Best Friends vs. SCU in another first round tag tourney match, AEW women’s champion Riho defending against Britt Baker, Jon Moxley and PAC vs. Adam Page and Kenny Omega, and AEW World Champion Chris Jericho vs. Darby Allin in a street fight for Jericho’s title.

Last week in Boston, Private Party advanced to the semifinals with a win over The Young Bucks and will face the winner of the Jurassic Express-Lucha Bros match while the Dark Order earned a first round bye and will face the winner of SCU vs. Best Friends.

AEW holding fan vote to decide final team for Tag title tournament

AEW is holding a fan vote to determine the final team for their Tag title tournament.

On Twitter today, AEW opened voting to decide whether Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy or Angelico & Jack Evans will be the final team in the tournament. Both teams having winless records was the reason given for the fan vote.

As would be expected, Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy are solidly in the lead at press time. They have 85 percent of the vote to Angelico & Evans’ 15 percent.

Voting ends tomorrow (Saturday, September 14) at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time.

Angelico & Evans lost to Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) on the All Out pre-show last month. After the match, there was an angle where Angelico & Evans turned heel by attacking Private Party.

The Dark Order got a first-round bye in the Tag Team title tournament by defeating Best Friends (Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor) at All Out. A first-round match between The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) and Private Party has been announced for week two of AEW TV on Wednesday, October 9. The rest of the teams for the tournament have yet to be revealed.

The semifinals of the tournament are set for week four of AEW TV on Wednesday, October 23. The inaugural champions will then be crowned on week five of AEW TV.

Stunt accompanied Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy for their three-way tag match against The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) and Angelico & Jack Evans at Fight for the Fallen last month. It was later announced that Stunt has officially joined the AEW roster.

During his appearance on the Steve Austin Show last month, AEW’s Tony Khan said the Tag Team title tournament will be “one of the main focuses” of AEW television when it debuts this fall.

Luchasaurus joins All Elite Wrestling roster

Following his appearance at Double or Nothing, Luchasaurus has joined the All Elite Wrestling roster.

AEW posted a graphic on Twitter tonight announcing that Luchasaurus is officially All Elite. Luchasaurus, whose real name is Austin Matelson, was formerly signed to WWE developmental and wrestled using the name Judas Devlin. ROH, Lucha Underground, and Bar Wrestling are among the promotions he’s wrestled for as Luchasaurus.

Matelson was also on season 17 of CBS’ Big Brother in 2015.

Luchasaurus appeared in the Casino Battle Royale on the Double or Nothing pre-show. He made it to the final three before being eliminated by Hangman Page, who then eliminated MJF to win the battle royal. Page will face Chris Jericho to determine the first AEW World Champion, though the date and location for that title match has yet to be revealed.

Luchasaurus taking part in the Casino Battle Royale was announced when he appeared on the Being the Elite episode that was uploaded on May 20.

AEW notes: Brandon Cutler signs, updated list of battle royal entrants

– On today’s episode of Being the Elite, it was announced that Brandon Cutler has signed a full-time deal with AEW as a wrestler and executive content producer. The Young Bucks talked about how hard Cutler works, how he’s back in pro wrestling after a seven-year break, and how the contract will help with his family’s financial situation.

– Cutler had already been announced as one of the entrants for Saturday’s Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing. Luchasaurus and Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) are also now set to take part in the match. Luchasaurus is former WWE developmental wrestler Austin Matelson, who has wrestled for Lucha Underground and ROH during his career.

AEW announced last month that Private Party had signed with them and would be part of their tag team division.

There will be 21 entrants in the Casino Battle Royale. The match will start with five wrestlers in the ring, with waves of five entering every three minutes after that. The 21st wrestler will then enter on their own. Whoever wins will receive a future shot against the first AEW World Champion.

Jimmy Havoc, Billy Gunn, MJF, Michael Nakazawa, Jungle Boy, Glacier, Sonny Kiss, Joey Janela, Ace Romero, Brian Pillman Jr., Sunny Daze, and Dustin Thomas have also been confirmed for the battle royal.

– The PAC vs. Hangman Page match from Wrestle Gate Pro’s show in Nottingham, England this past Saturday will be made available on AEW’s YouTube account at noon Eastern time tomorrow (May 21). As Dave Meltzer reported, the match was done because it will no longer be taking place at Double or Nothing.
