Lucha Underground results: Ultima Lucha IV build picks up

The Takeaway —

Matanza continued his murder spree, killing Jack Evans this week. Killer Kross arrived with El Bunny and Paul London went full Mad Hatter, as they eye The Reptile Tribe’s Trio titles. The Mack has returned and challenged Mil Muertes to a death match at Ultima Lucha, and it appears he’s going to try and kill Muertes once and for all.

Fenix and Dragon Azteca Jr. continued their feud, with Azteca saving Melissa Santos from Fenix yet again. Fenix seems very, very conflicted, but when attacked — he does not hesitate in fighting back.

Meanwhile, Pentagon Dark was able to defeat Muertes (with some help from The Mack), Dragon Azteca Jr. (due to brawling with Fenix), and King Cuerno to set up a match with Marty the Moth at Ultima Lucha IV.

The Recap —

The show opened with Matt Striker reading a letter from Antonio Cueto saying that the main event was going to be King Cuerno vs. Mil Muertes vs. Pentagon Dark vs. Dragon Azteca Jr. The winner will go on to face Marty the Moth. Vampiro admitted to not paying attention, and he looked very distracted.

Jack Evans was in the middle of the ring, and he said he can’t work for a company that lets XO Lishus wrestle. He said that if he was at Johnny Mundo’s wedding he would have ripped Matanza’s head off. Evans then quit Lucha Underground. Antonio Cueto came out and said that if Evans can win his match tonight, he can leave. But if he doesn’t, he’ll never leave here again as he’s about to be sacrificed.

Matanza defeated Jack Evans via Death in a Sacrifice to the Gods Match

Evans tried to run away, but the doors wouldn’t open for him. He turned around and looked at the ring, and Matanza came out of the doors behind him. Evans managed to run down the stairs, but Antonio tripped him with his cane.

Matanza powerbombed Evans on the apron. Evans managed to expose a turnbuckle and drove Matanza into it before hitting a 630 splash, but Matanza sat up, holding Evans, and hit a Wrath of the Gods for the pinfall victory. Evans was then sacrificed to the gods.

Before the next match started, Paul London came out and introduced El Bunny and The White Rabbit Tribe (Killer Kross).

Lucha Underground Trios Champions The Reptile Tribe (Kobra Moon, Daga & Jeremiah Snake) defeated Ivelisse, XO Lishus,& Joey Ryan to retain their titles

Ryan offered his lollipop to Jeremiah Snake, and he took it. Ryan threw Kobra Moon into Snake and tagged out to XO Lishus, who did some lucha and took Moon down. Moon tagged in Daga, but Snake came in and attacked Lishus instead. Snake then threw Daga into Lishus and continued the beatdown. Lishus hit a stunner on Snake and made the tag to Ivelisse.

Ivelisse hit a Code Red on Daga, but Snake broke it up. Ivelisse kicked Snake in the face and rolled to the outside. Moon tried to seduce Ryan a little bit, but Ryan threw her over the top rope onto her teammates. Lishus faked out the other team before Ivelisse hit a flip to the outside on Snake. Lishus hit a tope, then Ryan put another lollipop in Snake’s mouth and superkicked him off the apron.

Daga grabbed Ryan and armbarred him for the finish.

El Bunny came down to the ring as the crowd chanted “Tick Tock,” and Bunny and London took out Ivelisse, Ryan, and Lishus. Kross came down to the ring and said “Tick Tock” to all three of them and called off London and Bunny.

Jack Strong defeated Aerostar & Drago in a Nunchucks Match

Striker said that Cueto was able to get this match sanctioned in California. Vampiro called him an idiot. Vampiro was right, because we literally just saw a murder in the ring earlier. There’s no way any of this is sanctioned, because Lucha Underground is an underground fight ring.

Using double team work, Drago was able to climb the stairs and grab the nunchucks. When Strong turned around, he caught Aerostar after a dive and then beat on Drago around the ringside area.

Drago spit poison mist on Strong, then hit him with the nunchucks. Strong responded by throwing Drago through six rows of chairs. He went to powerbomb Aerostar, but Aerostar caught a ladder that was going up to the balcony above. Aerostar climbed up and grabbed the other nunchucks. Strong caught up to him, throwing him off the balcony!

Drago beat on Strong for a little bit, but as Strong made his comeback, Aerostar came diving off the balcony and took out Strong! Aerostar and Drago took it to Strong here, but they were unable to defeat him. Strong dumped Drago outside of the ring and hit a massive powerbomb on Aerostar before locking him in an ankle lock for the win.

Drago saved Aerostar from an ankle break, so Strong broke Drago’s ankle instead.

Pentagon Dark defeated King Cuerno, Mil Muertes, and Dragon Azteca Jr. for a shot at Marty the Moth’s Lucha Underground Championship at Ultima Lucha IV

Muertes started the match attacking everyone. He hit a TKO on Cuerno, but as Muertes focused elsewhere, Cuerno was able to attack him and send him to the outside. Pentagon hit a big enzuigiri on Cuerno, and Azteca hit a satellite tornado DDT. As this was happening, Fenix came out and threatened Melissa Santos. Santos saw something in his eyes, and she ran away.

Dragon Azteca Jr. hit a tope con hilo that drove Fenix into the announce table, then Azteca Jr. and Fenix brawled out of the Temple. We might need Karl Stern to dedicate an episode of DragonKing Dark to finding out what went wrong in Fenix’s resurrection. If anyone can figure it out, Karl can.

Cuerno hit a suicide dive on both Muertes and Pentagon, and Muertes somehow ended up in the ring first as Pentagon and Cuerno brawled on the apron. Muertes knocked them both off, but The Mack came out and hit two stunners on Muertes before Pentagon hit a Canadian Destroyer on Muertes for the pinfall victory! Pentagon will challenge Marty the Moth at Ultima Lucha.

The Mack challenged Muertes to a death match at Ultima Lucha. Mack said he wasn’t afraid of dying anymore.

Lucha Underground results: LU title change, Chelsea Green debuts

The Takeaway—

Fenix continued his path of insanity, but he seemed to show some restraint when confronted by Melissa Santos this week. However, when Dragon Azteca Jr. came out, he snapped and laid him out with a Dark Fire Driver. He also did the same to Aerostar, the man that brought him back from the dead, in their match.

Dragon Azteca Jr. lost his Gift of the Gods Championship to Marty the Moth because of the attack from Fenix.

Paul London murdered the other members of the White Rabbit Tribe off screen as a sacrifice to Killer Kross. Kross, noting that the tribe has lost two members, asked London to show him the way to the Lucha Underground Temple.

Pentagon Dark successfully defended his title in a three-way dance, but after the match, due to a ruling by Antonio Cueto, Marty the Moth cashed in his Gift of the Gods Championship and defeated Pentagon with the help of the debuting Chelsea Green.

The Recap—

Matt Striker opened the show saying that if this was on pay-per-view, they’d be doing a pitch, but they’re giving it away for free. Time will tell if that’s a responsible business decision. Striker announced Marty the Moth vs. Dragon Azteca Jr.

Vampiro announced the main event as Pentagon Dark vs. King Cuerno vs. Mil Muertes in a Three-Way Dance of Destruction.

Fenix defeated Aerostar

Fenix nearly killed Aerostar in the opening seconds of this match, but Aerostar followed up with a few moves and a codebreaker. Fenix countered with a jumping spin kick and then a cutter, but Aerostar kicked out. Fenix started hitting ground and pound on Aerostar, which was very uncharacteristic. Aerostar got up and hit a headscissors takedown and followed up with a plancha to the outside of the ring.

Fenix did a cartwheel off the apron, then picked up Aerostar and smashed him into one of the guardrails at ringside. Fenix passed by Melissa Santos on the outside, and looked at her with anger. Fenix hit a dropkick, sending Aerostar onto the ground before sending him back into the ring, hitting a moonsault and a Swanton Bomb for a two count. Fenix took out Aerostar with a kick, and the crowd looked on horrified.

Aerostar managed to turn Fenix, picking him up into a Canadian Destroyer and then hitting a slingshot DDT. That was incredible. Fenix kicked out. Aerostar hit a series of big boots, but Fenix ate them all and kept getting up. Fenix kicked out after a Code Red. He drove Aerostar to the corner before hitting a dropkick and a Black Fire Driver for the pinfall!

Santos spoke to Fenix after the match, saying “This isn’t you!” — and he left the ring and grabbed her. He seemed to calm down a little, but Dragon Azteca Jr. came out and stood between them. Fenix then beat up Azteca before hitting a Black Fire Driver on the floor!

Antonio Cueto said that he was now a believer in Dragon Azteca Jr., and he thought he was going to defend his title all the way to Ultima Lucha. Cueto, however, stripped him of the title since he couldn’t fight.

Dragon Azteca Jr. said he was going to fight, even in pain, and Cueto was impressed. He decided that the match would happen now, and Cueto told Santos to announce the competitors.

Marty the Moth defeated Dragon Azteca Jr. to win the Gift of the Gods Championship

Marty the Moth looked a lot different than normal here, seeming very intense. He opened the match with a big boot to Dragon Azteca Jr. and threw him across the ring. Marty yelled at the referee trying to stop the beatdown. Azteca Jr. hit an arm drag, but Marty caught him while he was trying to do a wheelbarrow and tossed him into the turnbuckle before pulling on his mask and driving his face into the turnbuckle repeatedly.

Dragon Azteca shoved Marty to the outside, hit a flying hurricanrana to the outside, and then landed a massive tope con giro. Dragon Azteca hit a DDTJ, but Marty kicked out. Dragon Azteca went for a hurricanrana, but Marty blocked it before hitting a massive implant DDT and pinning him to win the championship.

Paul London showed up to talk to Killer Kross, and he talked about how he sacrificed the other White Rabbit Tribe members to impress him. Kross had an idea, since they were short two members, and asked to be led to the Lucha Underground Temple. It looks like Killer Kross is coming soon.

Lucha Underground Champion Pentagon Dark defeated King Cuerno and Mil Muertes in a Three-Way Dance of Destruction to retain his title

Pentagon and Cuerno tried to double team Muertes a bit, but Muertes is a monster and beat up both men with lariats in the corner before chopping the crap out of Cuerno. Cuerno and Pentagon hit a double superkick that took Muertes to the ground before attempting a dive. Pentagon cut Cuerno off with a kick, then hit a tope con giro on Muertes.

Cuerno hit a suicide dive on Pentagon before Muertes hit a shoulder block on him. Muertes ripped at Pentagon’s mask and left his face partially exposed. Pentagon ran at Muertes before getting hit with an arm drag up and over the guardrail into the front row! Cuerno and Muertes ended up back in the ring, and Cuerno hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Muertes before Muertes hit a powerslam. Pentagon came in and started fighting with Muertes again.

Pentagon dodged out of the way from a spear, and Muertes hit the ring post and Pentagon hit two slingblades soon thereafter. Pentagon climbed to the top rope and hit a big double stomp on Muertes. Cuerno hit a sunset flip and rolled through into a knee strike on Pentagon. Cuerno hit the Thrill of the Hunt, but Muertes broke it up. Muertes hit a chokeslam on Cuerno, but Pentagon hit two backstabbers on Muertes before hitting a package piledriver on Cuerno for the pinfall victory! I expected more from this match, but it was still very good.

Marty the Moth rolled into the ring and immediately attacked Pentagon. Marty hit Pentagon with his own title before hitting an implant DDT. Marty then hit a curb stomp on Pentagon.

Antonio Cueto came out and said that Marty had a good idea last week, and the Gift of the Gods Championship could be exchanged for a title match at any time, instead of one week in advance.

Marty the Moth defeated Pentagon Dark to win the Lucha Underground Championship

Marty immediately covered Pentagon, but Pentagon kicked out. Marty attacked, but Pentagon kicked out again. Marty tied Pentagon’s mask to the middle rope, as the crowd showered him with boos. Marty untied the mask after beating on him for a little bit, but Pentagon kicked out again.

Pentagon chopped the crap out of Marty when Marty tried to do a move off the top rope. Pentagon jumped off the middle rope and hit a Canadian Destroyer.

Marty the Moth rolled to the outside of the ring. The debuting Chelsea Green then came into the ring and hit a Canadian Destroyer on Pentagon! Marty the Moth hit a package piledriver on Pentagon and got the pinfall.

Your new Lucha Underground Champion is Marty the Moth. I’m not a fan of this. We’re going to have to see how it goes.

Lucha Underground results: Fenix is broken, Trios titles on the line

The Takeaway—

Something is very wrong with Fenix. His resurrection seems to have gone wrong. My theory is that it has something to do with Catrina’s soul possessing him, but we shall see how this plays out. Fenix turned on Aerostar and Drago, and even shoved Melissa Santos to the ground. This is going to be very interesting.

Ivelisse agreed to form a tag team with XO Lishus & Joey Ryan. Mil Muertes, King Cuerno, and Pentagon Dark will wrestle in a triple threat match for the Lucha Underground Championship next week.

Marty the Moth made his return, requesting a shot at the Gift of the Gods Championship.

The Recap—

The show opened with Matt Striker talking about how they received news that Fenix is somehow back from his Three-Way to the Grave match.

Gift of the Gods Champion Dragon Azteca Jr. defeated Ivelisse to retain the title

Dragon Azteca Jr. has made his intentions to cash in his Gift of the Gods Championship for a Lucha Underground title match at Ultima Lucha 4 known, but he wanted to gain experience before getting there, thus defending his title now. Azteca controlled the early portions of this match with some basic offense. He locked on a Boston crab and transitioned into a headlock. Ivelisse countered and hit two forearms and a tornado DDT, but Azteca kicked out.

Ivelisse was sent to the outside with a flying arm drag, but she dodged a plancha from Azteca, and he crashed into the railing of the stairs with a huge thud. Ivelisse hit a Code Red, but Azteca kicked out. Ivelisse hit a kick, but he kicked out again. Both wrestlers ended up on the top rope, but Azteca managed to knock Ivelisse down and hit a leg drop from the top rope, scoring the pinfall. Good match.

XO Lishus and Joey Ryan came out and said they wanted to form a trios team with her to take on whoever wins the Trios titles match tonight.

King Cuerno came out for his match. Antonio Cueto announced that he would be taking on Mil Muertes and that the winner would go on to challenge Pentagon Dark next week.

King Cuerno and Mil Muertes went to a no contest

Muertes was out here without Katrina, who he murdered last week. It doesn’t seem to have effected him too much, as he hit a superplex off the top rope early on. Muertes appeared to soak in the cheers from the fans, which is very different from before, including playing to them.

Muertes jumped off the middle rope, and Cuerno nailed him with a flying knee. Both men exchanged strikes while on their knees, then rose to their feet and kept going. Both wrestlers spilled to the floor.

The striking battle continued on the outside of the ring, as the crowd’s support for Muertes grew. He might be a monster, but he’s their monster. The referee tried to get them back into the ring, but both shoved the referee, who went crashing into the people in the front row. The referee disqualified both men as they continued to brawl up the stairs.

Antonio Cueto was displeased at the ending to the match, but informed Muertes and Cuerno that he doesn’t punish violence, he rewards it, and next week will be a three-way match between Cuerno, Muertes, and Pentagon Dark!

Lucha Underground Trios Champions The Reptile Tribe (Kobra Moon, Daga & Jeremiah Snake) defeated Drago, Aerostar & Fenix to retain their titles

Before the match started, Jake Strong came out and said he’d challenge Drago, Aerostar & Fenix for the Trios titles himself if they win. He promised to snap their ankles. Fenix, meanwhile, did not look like the old Fenix. Something was quite off. It seems his resurrection didn’t quite go as planned.

Jeremiah Snake took it to Drago right away, as Melissa Santos looked on in concern at Fenix. Daga got the heat on Drago for a little bit before tagging out to Snake. Drago managed to make a comeback, but didn’t tag out immediately. However, Fenix made a blind tag, rolled in, and hit a great cutter on Snake. Fenix immediately started stealing the show with his killer offense, and there were flashes of the Fenix of old, but he didn’t even think of going for a pinfall.

Fenix scared Kobra Moon back to her corner and looked far more bloodthirsty than previously. Fenix tagged in Aerostar, not by tagging his hand, but by chopping him. Aerostar came in with some fast-paced offense, hitting a cutter before getting cut off by Snake, who tagged in Daga.

Aerostar flew to the outside, taking everyone out. Drago tagged in Fenix, who seemed to wake up, but something was clearly off. Fenix helped Drago and sent him flying onto everyone. Back in the ring, Fenix nailed Aerostar with a massive kick, and followed up with a Fenix Driver. Snake picked up Aerostar and hit Get Out of Here for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Melissa Santos walked up to Fenix, who looked like he was in another world. Fenix shoved Santos to the ground and left as all the people in The Temple looked on confused. Dragon Azteca Jr. came out and helped Santos up.

The show closed with Marty the Moth appearing at Antonio’s door, trying to purchase a Gift of the Gods title shot for next week. Antonio agreed. Marty also had another request, but before we could find out what it was, the show faded to black.

Episode Death Count: 0 (shockingly!)

Lucha Underground results: More death, Pentagon faces Hernandez

The Takeaway —

Catrina has fallen to her death after a battle with Melissa Santos. Mil Muertes was given the chance to save her, but just like how she left him at the start of the episode, he decided to leave her. Leave her hanging in mid-air, that is, and she fell from the top of the Temple to the ground below, apparently dead.

Aerostar took Santos’ half of her amulet and Catrina’s soul and traveled back in time and returned them to Fenix. Fenix returned with Aerostar to the present, but he was not completely himself, as his eyes showed.

Meanwhile, Matanza continued his warpath, killing Joey Wrestling in a Sacrifice to the Gods match.

Killshot and Son of Havoc’s feud intensified as Havoc stole Killshot’s mask, and Pentagon Dark reigned supreme yet again, defeating Hernandez. However, King Cuerno attacked Pentagon after the match, clearly setting his target on the Lucha Underground Championship.

The Recap —

The show opened with Catrina and Mil Muertes, and Catrina said that she is done. She said that she was never in love with Muertes and that the man she truly loved (implying Fenix) gave her freedom. Catrina gave Muertes the stone she had in the first season and told him that he can remember her with it.

Melissa Santos attacked her at the start of the episode, and both women started to fight. Santos put Catrina’s head through a window, and Catrina threw a chain at Santos. A double kick knocked both down. Catrina put Santos in an armbar, trying to break her arm. As she did, Catrina said that Fenix loved Santos, but Santos said that she was going to kill Catrina.

After brawling out to the roof of the temple, Catrina tried to kill Santos with her necklace, but Santos threw her over a guardrail. She was about to kill Catrina when Mil Muertes showed up and stopped her.

Muertes grabbed Catrina’s arm. He said, “This is to remember me by” and put the rock in her hands before dropping her. Catrina fell to her apparent death.

Aerostar showed up and told Santos that he needed her half of the amulet. He then appeared to suck the soul out of Catrina, teleported back through time, and raised Fenix from the dead before returning to the present, to the joy of Santos. Aerostar warned that Fenix was taken out of time, and it would take a while for him to return to normal. Something looked wrong in Fenix’s eyes, though.

After the attack from last week from Matanza, Johnny Mundo would not be wrestling tonight. Vampiro said that he was hearing that Mundo might never wrestle again. However, Joey Wrestling (the former Joey Mercury), was here to defend the honor of his friend and he wanted to fight. Antonio Cueto gladly put him against Matanza.

Matanza defeated Joey Wrestling via death

Matanza threw Joey around the ring as Striker informed us that this was the sixth sacrifice that Matanza was making. Matanza grabbed Joey in a bear hug, but Joey broke free with a few punches, hitting a Death Valley Driver. Joey sent Matanza to the floor and smashed his head off the table before sending him back into the ring.

While the referee was distracted, Joey hit a low blow and a superkick, followed by a Pedigree. Matanza no sold it as Striker said, “No one gets up from the Pedi…” which was actually really funny. Matanza hit The Wrath of the Gods and got the pinfall. The lights went out, and when they came back, Joey was gone. Another sacrifice to the gods.

Killshot defeated Big Bad Steve (w/ The Beautiful Brenda) via pinfall

Son of Havoc came out at the start of the match with some popcorn. The fans chanted “We want popcorn.” Striker speculated that Killshot was a spy or agent of some sort. Killshot took out Steve’s knee a few times and slapped Steve. Steve hit a Saito suplex, driving Killshot to the mat. Steve went for a fireman’s carry into a press, but Killshot switched in mid-air and hit a double stomp.

Killshot kicked him in the face for his trouble, then went to the knee again. Steve hit a pop-up cutter. Steve hit a powerbomb into a facebuster, but Killshot got his feet on the ropes. Steve hit a chop and went for a superplex, but Killshot slipped out and hit the knee again before hitting a springboard double stomp. Killshot hit another and got the pinfall.

Killshot knocked the popcorn out of Havoc’s hand. Both men started fighting, but Havoc ripped Killshot’s mask off and he ran away.

Pentagon came out and issued an open challenge. Hernandez answered and said that he’d take the title from Pentagon.

Lucha Underground Champion Pentagon Dark defeated Hernandez via pinfall to retain his title

Pentagon started quickly with two kicks and a hurricanrana. He followed that up with another hurricanrana on the outside, and he started chopping Hernandez and sending him into the row of chairs. Pentagon hit the ropes and Hernandez hit a flying shoulder block and a dive to the outside. Hernandez told the fans to move, then flipped them off after they did.

Pentagon hit a series of low kicks, but Hernandez overpowered him with a shoulder block and then a Canadian backbreaker. Pentagon hit a superkick and a slingblade, but Hernandez kicked out. Pentagon hit a chop and a clothesline. Hernandez went to the top rope, but Pentagon cut him off and went for a superplex. Hernandez countered with a strike and a big splash. Pentagon hit an enzuigiri and countered a flying shoulder block with a superkick. Pentagon hit the Pentagon Driver to get the pinfall.

Before Pentagon could break Hernandez’s arm again, King Cuerno hit Pentagon with his title and then hit Thrill of the Kill onto the belt! The show closed with Cuerno leaving Pentagon in a heap.

Episode Resurrection Count: 1

Lucha Underground results: Last Man or Machine Standing

The Takeaway —

Mil Muertes continued his reign of terror, defeating The Mack in a Haunted House Match. The reasons for placing this match here were questionable, as it was so greatly overshadowed by the main event that it seemed a bit pointless. It was a decent match, though.

Meanwhile, Catrina viciously attacked Melissa Santos and left her laying. I have to think that this is building to the return of Fenix at some point to destroy Muertes, but time will tell.

Jake Strong continued his rampage but found opposition in Drago. The Worldwide Underground prepared for the wedding of Taya and Johnny Mundo, and Ricky Mundo continued to go deeper into insanity, killing a person trying to get into the party.

Pentagon Dark continues his reign as Lucha Underground Champion, defeating Cage in an excellent match. It had several unprotected chair shots, which were quite uncomfortable to watch. Despite that, working over Cage’s head played into the story of the match. Pentagon pulled off some incredible moves, hitting a Canadian Destroyer from the top rope through a table, and hitting a package piledriver through the chairs. Absolutely spectacular match

The Recap —

The show opened with Melissa Santos and Dragon Azteca Jr. talking about Fenix. Azteca told her that Fenix is still alive in her heart, and he put her half of a medallion around her neck.

The Lucha Underground Temple was filled with weapons and a steal cage surrounded the ring with Halloween-themed weapons attached to it. It looked like they might have originally expected this to air around Halloween.

Mil Muertes (w/ Catrina) defeated The Mack in a Haunted House Match

Before the match started, Catrina insisted that Melissa Santos introduce her properly. Santos refused, and Catrina attacked her. Catrina sent Santos into the steel cage, then grabbed a flower vase, gave Santos the lick of death, and smashed the vase over Santos’ head.

The Mack attacked quickly, kicking Muertes in the head, but Muertes no sold it and proceeded to beat the crap out of The Mack with a garbage can and a kendo stick before grabbing a crowbar. The object — not the wrestler from WCW. Muertes hit a powerslam that almost planted The Mack on his head. The Mack nailed him with a pumpkin, and it looked like it sucked.

The Mack hit a DDT on Muertes. Muertes drove The Mack through one of the cage walls to the floor, then hit a DDT on the floor. Muertes grabbed a table and introduced it to the ring before scaling the cage and hitting a flying crossbody from the top rope. The table that Muertes set up in the corner had the word “Booooo!” written on it, while the other had “Spooky” written on it. The fans chanted “Spooky” in response.

Muertes grabbed a knife from the cage wall and hit The Mack with it. The Mack was busted wide open. The Mack somehow hit a spinebuster through one of the tables, but Muertes speared him through another. Muertes set up another table, but The Mack hit three stunners on Muertes and put him on the table.

The Mack climbed to the top rope, and Muertes cut him off and hit a flatliner from the top rope through the table. Muertes won in a decent match. Catrina refused to do the lick of death on The Mack.

Famous B took over the ring announcing, sitting at ringside in a wheelchair. He was quite upset that it was Jake Strong coming out next.

Jake Strong defeated Aerostar

Aerostar took it to Strong quickly in the early portions of this match, using fast-paced offense to keep the bigger man on his toes. Aerostar went for a dive off the top rope, but Strong grabbed him and tossed him off the top rope before locking on an ankle lock. Aerostar tapped out quickly.

Strong went to break his ankle, but Drago ran out and made the save.

The Worldwide Underground were together celebrating the upcoming wedding of Johnny Mundo and Taya Valkyrie. Taya gave Johnny a picture of him holding a title as a gift. Taya said she secured a title match for him after the wedding.

Ricky Mundo was outside guarding the door, and the doll told him to take care of the guy that came to the door requesting to be let in. He was insulting Ricky, so the doll said, “do to him what you did to Angelico!” Ricky proceeded to kill him brutally, stabbing him with a pen.

Lucha Underground Champion Pentagon Dark defeated Cage in a Last Man or Machine Standing Match to retain his title

This started with a brawl outside of the ring. Cage slammed Pentagon on the floor and ripped his mask. Pentagon broke a bottle over Cage’s head, but Cage no sold it and busted Pentagon open with a bottle of his own. Cage grabbed a table and brought it into the ring in the corner. Pentagon grabbed Cage and hit a Death Valley Driver into the table.

Pentagon went for a chair and hit Cage with an unprotected chair shot to the head. That was very uncomfortable. Pentagon hit a flying double stomp onto the chair on Cage, and Cage rolled outside before blocking a superkick and powerbombing Pentagon into a guardrail. Pentagon grabbed a garbage can and nailed Cage with it. Cage used the lid and hit Pentagon before superplexing him through two tables on the outside of the ring

Cage grabbed another table and placed it ringside. Cage went to powerbomb Pentagon off the apron, but he hit an enzuigiri. Cage countered a package piledriver attempt, but Pentagon hit another unprotected chair shot to Cage’s head before hitting a Death Valley Driver off the apron through the table. Cage hit a spinning clothesline back in the ring and hit a Drill Claw. Cage grabbed yet another table, making The Dudleyz jealous.

Cage grabbed a cinder block before Pentagon hit him with a garbage can lid and hit a Canadian Destroyer off the top rope through the table. Holy crap! A series of six chairs were set up in the middle of the ring, and Pentagon hit the package piledriver through the chairs. Pentagon has repeatedly attacked the head of Cage in this match, and went to break Cage’s arm. Pentagon succeeded, and broke his other arm too.

Pentagon broke the cinder block over Cage’s head, and the referee counted to 10. This was a great match. The unprotected chair shots were really uncomfortable, but it did work into the psychology of the match. Nonetheless, there were better ways to do it.

Lucha Underground results: Worldwide Underground vs. Reptile Tribe

The Big Takeaways —

  • Antonio Cueto’s weakness has been exposed. He is easily persuaded by money and sex.
  • Paul London didn’t think twice about choosing Mala Suerte as his sacrifice to the Cuetos.
  • Thus far, nobody has posed any sort of a legitimate challenge to Matanza.
  • Jack Evans really dislikes XO Lishus. Joey Ryan may be warming up to him, however.
  • Jeremiah Crane has been reborn as a snake.
  • Aerostar appeared, teaming with the Worldwide Underground to defeat Drago and the Reptile Tribe, who Aerostar has plenty of history with.
  • Johnny Mundo, as a favor to Aerostar, forced The Reptile Tribe to free Drago.

Show Recap —

Mariposa’s Offer

Antonio Cueto finished up a phone call in his office before Mariposa walked in. She sucked up to him, calling him handsome and saying she always fantasized about being with a Cueto. She said she was there to ask for a Gift of the Gods title match. Cueto said that she didn’t deserve it.

Mariposa flirtatiously said her family has a lot of money and always gets what they want. It didn’t take long for Cueto to agree.

Paul London’s Sacrifice

The Rabbit Tribe made their way to the ring to compete in a trios match. Cueto interrupted their entrance and said that London needed to pick just one of his stablemates to be sacrificed. London said that since Mala Suerte had failed the White Rabbit, Suerte will be facing Matanza Cueto.

Matanza Cueto defeated Mala Suerte via pinfall

Suerte’s jocular antics didn’t go over very well with the monster, who no sold some offense before easily winning a squash with the spinning powerbomb.

Joey Ryan & Jack Evans defeated XO Lishus & Ivelisse via referee stoppage

This was a fun little match. Striker dubbed the new team Ivelishus. Lishus did a spot in the corner where he banged Ryan’s face off his backside while having his head scissored with his feet, then smiled at him. The crowd chanted, “Joey likes it!” It appeared that Joey did, indeed, like it.

Ryan and Evans controlled most of the match, wrestling a typical heel tag match while Lishus and Ivelisse mostly did kicks and comedy spots. After a brief melee in the ring, Evans slid to the outside while Lishus took control of Ryan, but Evans was still the legal man. He was able to surprise Lishus, then applied what Striker called a “modified locoplata.”

Lishus didn’t tap, but the referee stopped the match after he passed out. Evans kept the hold on after. Ryan yelled at his partner to release the hold, but Ivelisse came in and made the save.

Evans said that it’s not over until he kills XO Lishus.

Gift of the Gods Champion El Dragon Azteca Jr. defeated Mariposa via pinfall to retain his title

Very short, uneventful matchup. Azteca hit a 450 splash, but Mariposa kicked out. Mariposa hit the Butterfly Effect, but also only got a two count. Azteca hit a bodyscissors into a folding press, crossing Mariposa’s legs for a three count.

Worldwide Underground (Johnny Mundo, PJ Black, Taya & Aerostar) defeated The Reptile Tribe (Drago, Daga, Kobra Moon & Jeremiah Crane) in an atomicos match via pinfall

The stipulation here was that if the Worldwide Underground won, Kobra Moon had to grant one wish to Mundo. If the Reptiles won, Mundo had to join their tribe.

Moon introduced her newest servant, “Jeremiah Snake” (Jeremiah Crane), whom she resurrected with venom, apparently. He joined the Reptile Tribe in the ring.

Mundo said that this match was one job that Ricky was not going to do, and told him to go play with the doll, because he couldn’t count on him. Since Evans is afraid of snakes, he had to find somebody else to cut off the heads of them. He introduced Aerostar as their surprise partner.

The match got off to a chaotic start, with everything quickly spilling to the outside. Pretty much everybody attacked everybody else with some form of a dive. It was basically a series of innovative ways to throw one body at six or seven others, but the crowd ate it up.

Eventually, things wound up back in the ring. Mundo hit the End of the World to pick up the victory for the Worldwide Underground and Aerostar.

Mundo used his wish for Aerostar, freeing Drago. Aerostar released him to a nice pop. Taya called Mundo an idiot and cried. Mundo said that Kobra Moon couldn’t grand his wish because only Taya could. Mundo ended the show by asking Taya to marry him (in a very Randy Savage style), and she said yes!

Backstage, Evans and the Doll cut a spooky promo, passively threatening to kill Mundo and Taya as the show faded to black.

Lucha Underground results: Pentagon Dark vs. Brian Cage

The Takeaway —

Mil Muertes has been removed from the Gift of the Gods title match, and he can’t be pleased. The Mack better watch out, as Muertes has a history of killing anyone that opposes him. Muertes clearly wants to challenge for the Lucha Underground Championship again, and The Mack just got in his way.

We also saw the feud between the Worldwide Underground and the Reptile Tribe continue, with some tension between Jack Evans and Ricky Mundo. It has been heavily implied that Ricky murdered Angelico. Meanwhile, Pentagon Dark has continued to defend his championship successfully, but Cage was not content with the loss and beat down Pentagon after the match. It looked like that feud is far from over.

The Recap —

The show opened with Paul London making his entrance.

Dezmond X defeated Paul London (w/ The White Rabbit Tribe) for a Gift of the Gods medallion

London started the match by having the White Rabbit Tribe distract Dezmond. Dezmond is learning quickly that the Temple is a place that doesn’t necessarily offer a fair fight. Dezmond had to constantly fight against interference from the White Rabbit Tribe, and managed to hit a hurricanrana on London to get the advantage.

X hit an enzuigiri in the corner and a back handspring Pele before missing a 450 splash. London hit double knees to the chest of Dezmond. Dezmond reversed a suplex attempt into a cradle for the pinfall.

Antonio Cueto entered and asked all the winners of the Gift of the Gods medallions to come out and place their medallions in the belt. Dragon Azteca Jr., King Cuerno, Ivelisse, Dezmond X, Son of Havoc, The Mack, and Mil Muertes all came out and placed their medallions into the Gift of the Gods Championship.

Cueto wanted to have a little fun, and announced that only six people will compete for the championship. He announced all seven people will wrestle in an over-the-top rope battle royal, with the winner choosing who does not compete.

The Mack won a battle royal (the winner decides who doesn’t compete for the Gift of the Gods Championship)

Mil Muertes ran wild early on, eliminating Cuerno, Ivelisse, and Dezmond X. Muertes tried to powerbomb Dragon Azteca Jr. over the top rope, but as he did so, Havoc and The Mack sent Muertes flying outside of the ring. The Mack and Son of Havoc were left in the ring. They are two-thirds of the Trios Champions, so Son of Havoc decided that he would dive over the top rope onto everyone, eliminating himself.

The Mack then cut a promo saying he’d like to say that he isn’t scared of anyone, but Mil Muertes scares the crap out of him. The Mack then chose Muertes, so Muertes will not be competing in the match. Muertes did not take kindly to this. Catrina left ringside angry, and Muertes proceeded to attack everyone on the outside.

Vibora (w/ Kobra Moon) defeated Johnny Mundo (w/ Taya Valkyrie)

Mundo tried to use his speed to overcome the bigger man, but Vibora hit a big forearm and sent Mundo to his knees. Taya grabbed Vibora’s feet, and Kobra Moon grabbed Mundo’s. Taya and Moon both got in the ring and fought each other.

Mundo hit a sequence of kicks, ending with a standing Shooting Star Press. Vibora caught Mundo and hit a fallaway slam. Vibora hit a big boot and a killer knee right to Mundo’s face. Vibora hit a Burning Hammer, but Mundo kicked out. This was followed up with a chokeslam attempt, but Mundo slid out and hit a reverse hurricanrana and another hurricanrana. Mundo climbed onto the top rope, but Vibora recovered.

Mundo, with nowhere left to go, dove onto Kobra Moon instead. Vibora chased Mundo around the ring, and PJ Black nailed Vibora with a chair. Mundo hit the End of he World back in the ring, but Vibora kicked out.

Johnny Mundo decided to superkick the referee. Black and Taya held Vibora as they put a chair on his head, looking to injure him.

Drago and Daga saved him, sending the Worldwide Underground to the back. Vibora blocked a chair shot and hit a superkick and a chokeslam, but Mundo kicked out. Ricky Mundo pulled Johnny out of the ring, but Vibora hit a triangle moonsault to the outside. Back in the ring, Mundo hit a series of superkicks, but Vibora managed to grab him as he went for a springboard, and hit a chokeslam. He then pinned Mundo. This was a very good match.

Both groups ran down to the ring, and the Reptile Tribe and Worldwide Underground had a huge brawl.

Ricky Mundo was backstage with his doll and Jack Evans. Ricky confronted Evans about not being there to help the rest of the group. Evans said he doesn’t mess with Reptiles. Ricky’s doll suggested that he do to Evans what he did to Angelico. It’s heavily implied that Ricky killed Angelico.

Lucha Underground Champion Pentagon Dark defeated Brian Cage to retain his title

Cage went right after Pentagon, using his superior strength to toss Pentagon around ringside. Cage slammed him on the floor. Pentagon ended up hitting a few chops and choking Cage with a camera wire. Cage slammed Pentagon on the apron, then threw him into a row of chairs. Pentagon was sent flying into the barricade at ringside, and Cage tied Pentagon’s mask to the guardrail.

Cage borrowed Matt Striker’s chair, but he didn’t get to use it. Pentagon used the chair and hit a slingblade on the outside before hitting a double stomp from the top rope. Cage kicked out. Pentagon hit a leg kick and went for the package piledriver, but Cage hit a flying knee and a pumphandle slam. Cage hit a bucklebomb and a deadlift suplex from the apron into the ring.

Pentagon hit a lung blower and a codebreaker. He played to the crowd, but Cage grabbed him and hit an electric chair drop. pentagon hit an enzuigiri, a superkick, and two Canadian Destroyers on Cage! Pentagon then hit a package piledriver on Cage and got the pinfall. Really solid match here.

Cage tried to hit Pentagon after the end of the match. Pentagon ducked and hit him with the title belt. The fans chanted “Break his arm!” Pentagon went for it, but Cage powered out and hit an F5 right onto the title. The show ended with Cage holding up the Lucha Underground Championship.

Lucha Underground results: Mil Muertes vs. Cage

The Takeaway —

Matanza continued his warpath as Antonio Cueto had another sacrifice to the gods. Ivelisse earned a Gift of the Gods Medallion — as did The Mack and Son of Havoc.

In a must-see match, Mil Muertes and Cage tore the house down in the main event. Muertes entered the arena with Catrina, who has now returned to the land of the living, and he defeated Cage. Catrina did not give Cage the lick of death. Muertes now holds an Aztec Medallion, continuing his momentum. Pentagon Dark will be facing Cage for the Lucha Underground Championship next week.

The White Rabbit Tribe murdered Mascarita Sagrada at the request of Killer Kross. Odd segment, but very bloody. I’m interested to see where they go from here.

The Recap —

Mil Muertes will be taking on Brian Cage in the main event of this episode, challenging for a Gift of the Gods medallion.

Cortez Castro opened the show in the ring. Antonio Cueto confronted Castro and accused him of being a police officer. Antonio wanted to report a homicide, as he booked Matanza in a Sacrifice to the Gods match.

Matanza Cueto defeated Cortez Castro via Death

This match only lasted a few seconds, and Matanza hit the Wrath of the Gods for the pinfall victory.

Matanza raised his hands to the sky, and the lights flashed red, went out, and Castro was gone. Matanza has made his second sacrifice, solving the police problem (for now) for Cueto.

Ivelisse defeated Joey Ryan via Code Red for a Gift of the Gods Medallion

Ivelisse tried to slap Ryan, but he blocked it and tried to get her to grab him by his junk. She fought it off, and was soon hitting a series of hurricanranas. Ryan hit a right hand. Striker said, “Don’t feel sorry for her, she’s been in tougher fights.” Vampiro said, “Punch her harder, I mean it’s good for the business, right?” That was super uncomfortable.

Ivelisse locked on a headscissors submission, but Ryan hit a superkick. Ivelisse kicked out. Ryan hit a spinebuster a little while later, but Ivelisse kicked out again. Ivelisse ended up hitting a massive German suplex, but Ryan kicked out. Ivelisse countered a powerbomb and hit a Code Red and scored the pinfall, winning one of the medallions.

This was a decent match, but it was harmed greatly by Striker and Vampiro’s commentary, which was advocating for violence against women. If Ivelisse is the babyface (which she was), saying “Don’t feel sorry for her” completely takes the sympathy off her.

The Mack defeated Son of Havoc and Killshot via Stunner for a Gift of the Gods Medallion (Havoc also won a medallion)

This match saw the Lucha Underground Trios Champions facing off against each other for a chance at the Gift of the Gods. The one that isn’t pinned or submitted will also receive a medallion. This match was incredibly fast paced with all three trying to drop one another. Havoc hit the ropes, and Killshot went over with a leap frog while Havoc did a suicide dive onto The Mack.

The Mack hit a killer kick and did a tope con giro to the outside onto Killshot and Havoc both. Killshot hit a big kick to the arm of the Mack, then began to work over the Mack’s arm. He hit a superkick that sent the Mack to the floor. Havoc and Killshot exchanged blows, and Havoc hit a tornado DDT. The Mack dodged a handspring elbow from Havoc and hit The Pounce. Killshot hit a German suplex on the Mack, but he no sold it and hit a lariat. Killshot hit a double stomp in response.

Havoc went for a Shooting Star Press on The Mack, but Killshot grabbed him by the beard and hit a Death Valley Driver on the apron. Killshot hit a double stomp on Havoc, and The Mack hit a stunner on Killshot for the pinfall victory.

The Mack hesitated about which guy he should pin. Mack and Havoc walked out with a medallion each, while Killshot was angry at both men. This was an excellent match.

Mil Muertes (w/ Catrina) defeated Cage via Flatliner for a Gift of the Gods Medallion

This started with both men brawling and exchanging a series of hard strikes. The crowd came alive for this one, as two of the favorite monsters of the LU fans faced off here. Muertes hit a headscissors takedown and both went to the outside of the ring. Cage was sent into the barricade, but he hit a superkick and threw Muertes into the same barricade before hitting a series of forearms. They continued to brawl at ringside.

Cage hit a big kick and a deadlift superplex from the apron to the inside of the ring. Muertes went for a spear, but Cage leapfrogged him. Unfortunately for the referee, who was behind him. Cage hit a lariat, but Muertes kicked out. Cage killed the second ref, then Muertes hit a flatliner on Cage. A third ref came down, but Cage kicked out. Muertes chokeslammed the ref. All three refs were down. Cage hit a tope con giro, which was absolutely incredible.

Muertes hit a huge lariat and introduced a chair into the equation. He didn’t get to use it, though, as Cage took him out and grabbed the chair. A fan behind Cage stood up and took off his jacket, and it was Pentagon Dark! The crowd exploded as Pentagon hit a kick and a chair shot. Muertes hit a flatliner and got the pinfall, winning the match. This was an absolutely awesome match.

Pentagon said that Cage shouldn’t be sad because he’s going to get a title shot next week. Pentagon then said he was going to break Cage’s arm.

The show closed with a skit with the White Rabbit Tribe, which was all sorts of weird. Paul London asked for guidance after being taken to Killer Kross by Mascarita Sagrada. Killer Kross demanded he kill Mascarita Sagrada, and London did.

Lucha Underground results: King Cuerno vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.

The Takeaway —

Antonio Cueto is looking to make sacrifices to the gods. Mr. Pectacular was the first of what looks to be many deaths at the hands of Matanza this season, as Matanza destroyed him in a few seconds in the first-ever Sacrifice to the Gods match.

Jake Strong continues to dominate, breaking ankles and causing severe injuries. The feud between the Worldwide Underground and Kobra Moon’s men continued to build. I wonder if one of these groups will be getting a shot at the Six-Man Tag titles before the end of the season.

Antonio is looking for the Power Gauntlet, but Cuerno insisted it was stolen. Brian Cage wanted a title shot against Pentagon Dark, but Antonio booked him against Mil Muertes instead. Cuerno got a measure of revenge against Chavo Guerrero Jr. and won an Aztec Medallion in the process. Meanwhile, one has to wonder what the newly-revived Catrina will be bringing to the table.

The Recap —

Fenix was killed last week by Mil Muertes, and Catrina was able to give him the kiss of death this week. She sucked 1,000 souls out from him, returning her to the land of the living. Catrina went to Melissa Santos and told her that Fenix gave his life for the only woman who truly loved him — Catrina.

She then gave Santos her half of an Aztec Medallion. This is going to be important later, I think.

Jake Strong defeated Big Bad Steve via ankle lock

Strong started the match fast by beating on Steve around ringside. It wasn’t long after that Strong locked on an ankle lock and Steve tapped out. Strong then broke Steve’s ankle. Matt Striker commented that Famous B, who suffered a broken ankle due to Strong, might have to have a limb amputated. Well then. Strong gave Steve a brutal powerbomb on the floor.

Antonio Cueto had King Cuerno in his office, and Antonio was looking for the gauntlet. Cuerno insisted that someone stole it from him. Antonio offered him an Aztec Medallion from his tribe, and a chance to get revenge on Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Brian Cage walked in and wanted a shot at Pentagon Dark. Cuerno said that he was the man, but Cage is a machine. Antonio told Cage that if he wanted a shot at the title, he’d have to win a medallion and compete for the Gift of the Gods. Cage was booked against Mil Muertes.

Worldwide Underground (Taya & Johnny Mundo) defeated Daga & Kobra Moon via Curb Stomp after Interference by PJ Black

Taya and Daga started the match and there was a quick exchange of holds before Daga tried a pinfall attempt. Taya hit a big boot that nailed Daga and followed with a kick to the stomach. Daga hit a big dropkick that led to Taya tagging out. Mundo tried to slide between Daga’s legs, but Daga did a double stomp to his back. Mundo turned it around and hit a standing Shooting Star Press.

Kobra Moon hit a flying hurricanrana on Mundo, but he kicked out. Mundo went for a superkick and accidently hit Taya, and Matt Striker said they may be romantically involved with each other. I’m quite sure that’s common knowledge, Matt. Kobra Moon hit a Russian leg sweep on Taya, but while the referee was distracted, PJ Black hit Moon, and Taya hit a Curb Stomp before the pinfall.

Vibora ran out and took out all three members of the Worldwide Underground. Kobra Moon said that Mundo would soon call her his queen.

Antonio unlocked Matanza’s room, where we saw him beating a man without mercy. Antonio said that it was time for Matanza’s first sacrifice.

Mr. Pectacular was in the ring, and Antonio came out and said this would likely be his last match, as he booked the first-ever Sacrifice to the Gods match — and Mr. Pectacular was the sacrifice. Striker accidentally called Antonio “Dario” here, and I wonder if Antonio will have Striker eaten by Matanza next.

Matanza Cueto defeated Mr. Pectacular via Death

Matanza killed him within a few seconds with a Wrath of the Gods. Soon thereafter, Matanza looked to the skies and Mr. Pectacular disappeared, apparently appeasing the gods.

King Cuerno defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. for an Aztec Medallion via Thrill of the Kill

Guerrero hit a dive right away and sent Cuerno crashing into a few rows of chairs. He took it to Cuerno early on, beating him all around ringside. Cuerno hit a dropkick after an attempted top rope dive by Guerrero. Cuerno struck Guerrero with a chop. Both men brawled, and Guerrero went for a chair shot as Cuerno went for a dive, but Cuerno saw it coming and slid under the bottom rope before kicking the chair into Guerrero’s face.

Cuerno hit a plancha off a railing with assistance from a member of the audience. Striker said that Cuerno must have watched a ton of footage of Guerrero to prepare for the match. However, Antonio booked it earlier in the night. Striker was pretty bad tonight. Guerrero hit a superplex, but Cuerno kicked out.

Both men brawled before Guerrero went for a slingshot, but Cuerno countered, hit a sunset flip, and followed up with a knee. Cuerno hit a suicide dive to the outside, but it didn’t do too much good as Guerrero cradled him when they went back in the ring. Cuerno countered the Three Amigos and hit a Thrill of the Kill for the pinfall finish. Solid match to close the show.

Lucha Underground results: Three-Way to the Grave match

Worldwide Underground Seeks Revenge

After a recap, Johnny Mundo held an emergency meeting with the Worldwide Underground to discuss revenge against the Reptile Tribe. He noted that Jack Evans is going to wrestle tonight and that he wanted him to call out the snakes. Evans said he won’t, because he’s afraid of snakes and had a “colonics” appointment to get to.

Taya Valkyrie and the others made fun of him a little bit. Mundo said he owed Angelico an ass beating. The doll told Ricky Mundo, “Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me.” Ricky had an evil smile after that.

XO Lishus defeated Jack Evans

Matt Striker and Vampiro kicked it off, hyping up the Three-Way to the Grave match later in the show. With Evans in the ring, the debuting XO Lishus (Sonny Kiss) made a very over-the-top entrance for a singles match. Evans stole the mic from Melissa Santos and introduced himself to a tepid heel reaction.

Lishus opened with some acrobatic moves and then hit a hurricane handspring slap. Evans countered the colorful style of Lishus with heel offense until Lishus hit a huge dive to the outside and twerked for the Believers. Evans applied mostly rest holds and slow-paced offense.

Evans mocked Lishus with the handspring into an eye gouge and continued the onslaught. Lishus made a comeback and climbed to the top rope. Evans kicked him, but Lishus fought back and hit a top rope split-out X-Factor for the upset victory.

Pentagon Dark Promo

After the commercial, Pentagon Dark stood in the ring with the title and cut a promo in Spanish. He talked about how he won Aztec Warfare against 19 other competitors and overcame Matanza Cueto. He said anybody else who wants the title will fail, too.

Cage ran out from the back and attacked Pentagon by surprise, beating him down in the middle of the ring. He nailed the champion with the title, then pulled a table out from beneath the ring. Cage drug Pentagon to the apron and powerbombed him through the table. He got on the mic and said that he’s gunning for the Lucha Underground Championship.

Three-Way to the Grave Match: Mil Muertes defeated Jeremiah Crane and Fenix

Santos came out to ominous-sounding music and a cool eerie green lighting effect. She explained the rules of the match. Striker put over the idea that this match was Mil Muertes’ specialty and that he’d be hard to beat.

There were some fast-paced lucha spots to start it off. Fenix carried the match early with a lot of high-risk offense.

Muertes chokeslammed Crane on one of the caskets on the outside. Crane hit a springboard splash off the back of Fenix onto Muertes, then powerbombed him through a table.

Muertes somehow wound up in the back, popping out of a door and continuing to beat up Crane on the bleacher risers. Meanwhile, Fenix climbed to the eagle’s nest-style area as Muertes and Crane fought. Fenix hit them both with an insane crossbody.

Muertes put Crane on the top rope and went for a suplex, but Fenix stopped him with a kick to the kidneys. Fenix went for a Frankensteiner from the top, but Crane tossed him out of the ring, where he landed on Muertes, putting him through a table.

Crane hit a piledriver while jumping backwards on Fenix through a table and rolled him into a casket. Crane pointed at Catrina, who pointed back at him. Before he could shut it, Ivelisse came out and busted him open with the hammer, knocking Crane into the coffin and shutting it, eliminating Crane.

Muertes beat on Fenix as Santos looked distraught. Fenix got busted open but kept fighting back.

They exchanged offense, as Fenix continued to fight back and overcome the odds. Finally, Muertes caught him with a flatliner when he attempted a top rope attack. Muertes drug him to the apron and opened a coffin. He fireman carried Fenix and placed him in the casket, slamming it shut for the victory.

Santos reluctantly announced Mil Muertes as the winner as Catrina and Muertes celebrated their victory.

Lucha Underground results: Pentagon Dark vs. Matanza Cueto

By Josiah MacDonald for F4WOnline.com

The show opened with Katrina appearing in a chair in King Cuerno’s home. Cuerno has the Gauntlet of the Gods, and Katrina was trying to steal it. Katrina wanted her life force back, but Cuerno gave it to someone else, and he said didn’t know where or when it is.

Famous B came out after Melissa Santos introduced him, and he said he had 3 new signings for Famous Inc.: Big Steve, Sammy Guevara, & Jake Strong (Formerly known as Jack Swagger).

Trios Champions The Mack, Killshot, & Son of Havoc def. Infamous Inc. (Big Steve, Sammy Guevara, & Jake Strong) w/ Beautiful Brenda & Famous B to retain

Killshot and Guevara started the match with some fast paced offense. Sammy flipped Killshot off, and Killshot didn’t like that. Killshot ran wild in the early portions of this match, taking out all three members of Infamous Inc. After Guevara took out Killshot with a big dive, Strong and Guevara worked over Havoc.

Guevara went for a top rope Frankensteiner, but Killshot blocked it. Killshot put Guevara on his shoulders and threw him off the top rope into a huge shoulder block from The Mack. Strong grabbed Killshot locked in an ankle lock, but Famous B was distracting the referee. The Mack slapped Strong trying to break it. The Mack hit a big boot, and Strong fell to the outside. The Mack hit a stunner on Steve, and Havoc hit a shooting star press for the win.

Post-mach, Strong beat on Steve and Guevara and locked an ankle lock on Famous B, snapping his ankle. Strong led the fans in chanting “Strong”.

Antonio Cueto announced that a medallion would be on the line, and the one that collects all seven medallions will be the Gift of the Gods Champion.

Dragon Azteca Jr. def. Drago (w/ Kobra Moon)

Vampiro speculated that Drago was injected with some sort of venom that has led to him being under Moon’s control.

Azteca Jr. had the advantage early on, but Moon tripped him. The distraction didn’t work though as he avoided Drago, and Drago almost collided with Moon. Azteca Jr. hit a springboard arm drag, and a good kick to the head before hitting a tope con giro. Drago pulled Azteca Jr.’s mask off to boos from the crowd. Azteca Jr. did not take to that kindly, and hit a flurry of offense before Drago hit an inverted slam that saw Azteca Jr. hit the mat face first. Azteca Jr. managed to hit an O’Connor roll off the middle rope for the pinfall.

Johnny Mundo and Taya Valkyrie came out and attacked Moon and Drago.

Antonio was in his office and Katrina appeared in front of him. Apparently, she is stuck between this life and the spirit realm. She asked Cueto to book a Grave Consequences match next week between Mil Muetres and Fenix so he can kill Fenix again, and Katrina can steal his life force.

Lucha Underground Champion Pentagon Dark def. Matanza Cueto

Pentagon started the match strong, hitting chops, and driving Matanza into the ring post, hitting more chops. Antonio came out and smiled at the violence before Pentagon missed a chop and hit the ring post. The brawl at ringside continued for quite some time, seeing Pentagon take out several rows of floor seats.

Matanza controlled the action back in the ring with several suplexes. In a comeback, Pentagon hit two sling blades and a big leg kick. Pentagon hit a Lung Blower and a Code Breaker, but Matanza kicked out. Matanza caught Pentagon mid springboard and hit a back suplex. Pentagon went for a Canadian Destroyer, but Matanza rolled through. Pentagon hit an enzuguri and a superkick before hitting two Canadian Destroyers. He then hit a Package Piledriver for the pinfall in an awesome match. Matanza suffered his first singles loss in Lucha Underground, and Pentagon Dark reigns supreme.

Post-match, Pentagon tried to break Matanza’s arm, but he reversed it and threw Pentagon off. Antonio came out and threatened Matanza, and he recoiled in fear. The show closed with Jeremiah Crane asking for a triple threat match with himself, Fenix, and Mil Muertes. Antonio granted the match, and so that will be the main event for next week.

Lucha Underground season 4 premiere: Aztec Warfare title match

By Michael Perry for F4WOnline.com

At the sparsely-attended funeral of Dario Cueto, Agent Winter explains that they can no longer use the original Temple. A mysterious man explains that he has some space that will be the new Temple. The man is Cueto’s father (played by the same actor).

Winter says that Dario’s murder was ordered by his father. Cueto’s father looks over his son’s body, taking the key from his neck before shutting the casket.

At the new Temple, there is a ten-bell salute to Dario. The salute is interrupted by his father, who cuts a promo. He says that his name is Antonio Cueto and that he is the new owner and promoter of Lucha Underground. He throws a portrait of Dario outside and then orders an Aztec Warfare match for the title.

Aztec Warfare for the Lucha Underground Championship

Mack and Killshot are in the ring. Antonio says that the Trios champs will be competing tonight as entrants 1 and 2. He says Dante Fox is missing in action, and that whatever luchador comes in at 3 will be their new partner. Melissa introduces their new partner: Son of Havoc. Mack and Killshot don’t seem to approve.

Mack and Killshot work together against Son of Havoc early until Joey Ryan enters at 4. Ryan handcuffs himself to the ropes. Entrant 5 is Mr. Pectacular (aka Jessie Godderz). Killshot schoolboys Mack by surprise to eliminate him. Pentagon Dark enters at 6 and cleans house. Ryan takes off the handcuffs, but Pentagon quickly eliminates him. Killshot is eliminated by Havoc. Tommy Dreamer enters at 7 and throws a garbage can full of weapons into the ring as Pectacular is eliminated by Pentagon.

Mariposa enters at 8, but quickly gets eliminated after a cutter by Havoc. Pentagon spears Dreamer into a pile of thumbtacks on the bleachers, then takes him back to the ring and eliminates him. Massaro comes in at 9 and beats up a pizza delivery man. He offers Pentagon a slice, but is met with a superkick and is swiftly dispatched with a Pentagon driver.

Hernandez makes his return at 10. Pentagon immediately snaps his arm and eliminates him. Pentagon continues his dominance, eliminating Son of Havoc. Johnny Mundo enters at 11. Mundo and Pentagon go at it in the ring until Ricky Mundo, with a creepy doll, enters at 12. Johnny eliminates Ricky and Fenix enters at 13.

Fenix cleans house. Jeremiah Crane (Sami Callihan) enters at 14. He and Fenix fight until Mil Muertes enters at 15. Muertes destroys everybody and poses, but Fenix eliminates him with a double stomp from the top rope. Daga enters at 16 with Cobra Moon.

Chavo Guerrero is another surprise entrant at 17. Crane stares him down, and Pentagon catches him in a Pentagon driver for yet another elimination. Chavo then eliminates Fenix. Mundo hits End of the World to eliminate Daga and King Cuerno enters at 18. Dragon Azteca, Jr. enters the match at 19.

Cobra Moon and Vibora come out and attack Mundo, who eliminated Daga earlier. Vibora is not in the match, but Marty Martinez is. He enters at 20. Vibora tombstones Mundo and exits the ring with Moon. Martinez pins Mundo.

Cuerno hits a frog splash and eliminates Dragon Azteca, possibly sending a message to Chavo. Chavo eliminates Cuerno with a Gory Bomb. Pentagon superkicks Chavo and pins him. It’s down to Pentagon and Martinez.

Martinez and Pentagon exchange blows until Marty gets a near fall. Marty hits a curb stomp for another near fall. Pentagon makes a quick comeback. He goes for the finish, but Marty bites him and hits a double underhook DDT for yet another near fall.

Pentagon, exhausted and desperate, hits a flipping piledriver from the top and a package piledriver for the pin to retain the title: the first wrestler ever to do so in Aztec Warfare. Pentagon snaps Martinez’s arm.

Cueto congratulates the winner. He says that while Dario would have made him defend his title immediately, he’s a better promoter than Dario ever was. Therefore, next week, Pentagon will defend the title against his son, Matanza Cueto.
