Ring of Honor TV live results: Eight-man tag team match

Tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub will see former ROH Women’s World Champion Deonna Purrazzo in Pure rules action in addition to an eight-man tag team match.

Purrazzo will take on the returning Marti Belle under the unique set of rules as the impending Women’s Pure title tournament awaits.

In the eight-man match, The Infantry will team with the Grizzled Young Veterans against former ROH Tag Team Champions The Kingdom & Top Flight.

Miyu Yamashita will also be in ROH action for the first time since April 2023 when she takes on the Nightmare Factory trained Brooke Havok.

Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty will team up against Anthony Gangone & Sal Mistretta while Lance Archer goes one-on-one with Aaron Solo to round out the show.

Shane Taylor Promotions (Lee Moriarty & Shane Taylor) vs Anthony Gangone & Sal Mistretta

Shane Taylor Promotions as a group are pretty much unstoppable at this point. They have the talent, the aggression and the ability to back up any and all smack talk. As for their opponents tonight, Gangone has one other ROH appearance as part of a team that lost to the horribly named LEEJ (EJ Nduka & Lee Johnson) last year. Mistretta has only two years in the business and has been described as “sturdy.”

Right off the bat, Moriarty laid out Gangone with a high knee to the face. From there he tagged in Taylor who gleefully took on Mistretta. Mistretta got a little too excited and managed to punch Taylor in the face. That did not make the much bigger Taylor happy, so he picked up Mistretta and threw him at the ground in an aggressive chokeslam. Then he did it again for good measure.

Gangone tried to help out his partner, but Moriarty intercepted him and locked in a Border City Stretch. Taylor, the legal man, punched Mistretta in the face and pinned him, 1-2-3.

A fun squash off the top. I love Shane Taylor and STP, but after the match taylor proclaimed “We’re coming for everything!” But, I wish he’d hurry up, because he’s been saying that for the better part of a year.

Pure Rules Match: Deonna Purrazzo vs Marti Belle

What a great way to tee-up the tournament to crown the first ever Ring of Honor Women’s Pure Champion! Purazzo feels like the title was made for her and Belle is the current EMERGE Women’s Champion, so she’s no slouch as well. For those not in the know a Pure Rules Match has a 10 minute time limit. Wrestlers are allowed only three rope breaks and one closed fist warning. Outside interference results in an instant DQ. 

Purrazzo and Belle locked up off the top and traded wrist and chin locks. Purrazzo powered out of it first with a hard shoulder, knocking Belle down. Purrazzo sent Belle to the corner, where she bailed out of the ring. Purrazo went for a baseball slide, but Belle was waiting and the two exchanged what appeared to be very closed fists, but the Ref let it go.

Purrazzo sent Belle into the steps and rolled back into the ring. Belle staggered up and just beat the count out. Purrazzo worked over the arm of Belle, but left herself open for a quick rollup that got a two count. Purrazzo sent Belle to the match and wrenched her arm again.

Purrazzo, in total control, locked in a disarmer into a venus de milo hold, preventing Belle from reaching the ropes. Belle tapped out to end the match.

Match Result: Deonna Purrazzo defeats Marti Belle

That was…fun? I guess? I can’t remember a Pure Rules Match where no rope breaks were used, but if you’re going to have a Pure Squash, I guess Deonna Purrazzo is a pretty good person to have it with!

-Next, The Frat House cut a “promo” from the back about how they don’t like the Dark Order. Vance hates them all, Jameson mentioned a small package and then yelled Boooooooooze before they all left. It was… underwhelming.

Lance Archer vs Aaron Solo

Usually when Archer comes to ROH these days, it’s to quickly murder an unsuspecting up-and-comer. Tonight though, he faces Solo who’s been on a hot streak, having a string of really great matches in ROH and AEW. So Solo might be a tougher match for the much larger Archer.  

Solo tried to get the jump on Archer, kicking his legs before the bell even rang. Archer returned the favor though, sending Solo staggering. Solo tried to power back, but there’s only one winner in a power-match against Archer and Solo was sent flying.

Solo did not give up though, trying again until Archer threw him into the corner and laid him out. Solo tried to escape up the ring post, but that just put him in position for a Blackout and Archer got the quick win.

Match Result: Lance Archer defeats Aaron Solo

Third squash in a row, which I don’t really mind. I like Archer, I like Solo, I’d have liked to see them work a bit longer, but what can you do?

Miyu Yamashita vs Brooke Havok

The last time we saw Yamashita in ROH, it was back in 2023 against ROH Women’s Champion Athena, back when she was only the “maybe forever?” champion. It was a losing effort for Yamashita but she’s been working the indies and AEW ever since. Havok also faced Athena in 2023, but lost in less than 2 minutes. She’s been better since then, but has yet to win a match in Ring of Honor. 

The two tied up off the top, with Yamashita getting the upper hand due to her size advantage. She controlled the pace until Havok got a headlock and spun her around for a big dropkick. Havok started giving Billie Starkz a run for her money and bratted around the ring. That infuriated Yamashita, who clocked her from behind.

Havok fought back, returning fire with elbows and forearms, followed by a neckbreaker and a senton bomb. Yamashita was stunned, but managed to dodge Havok and plant a springboard rewind kick. She picked up Havok, but Havok wiggled free and delivered some kicks.

Havok went for a headscissor, but Yamashita caught her and delivered a brutal whipping kick, that knocked Havok down and gave Yamashita the pin.

Match Result: Miyu Yamashita defeats Brooke Havok

Fun match, Havok looked really good. Again, surprised by the quickness but I wouldn’t call this a squash as the back and forth was pretty even handed.

-In the back, Mark Sterling was watching footage of a Premier Athletes match. Due to ringside “assaults on a consultant” (aka him), Sterling has had most of the Athletes matches thrown out. So, by default, they are undefeated in 2025. They then talked about their shirts and declared their intentions to go after the ROH Tag Titles.

Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) & The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) vs  The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) & Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson)

Eight men, from four teams, teaming together on two teams, to beat the heck out of each other. The Grizzled Young Veterans haven’t been around ROH in a spell and The Kingdom have popped in and out over the last few months. The Infantry has been causing trouble with Shane Taylor Promotions and Top Flight have been flying high, so to speak. 

The Grizzled Infantry jumped their opponents off the top and all eight men brawled in the ring. When the dust cleared, Top Kingdom had cleared the ring leaving Darius and Drake as the legal men. Things settled down after that, with Taven tagging in to send Drake to the ground with a dropkick.

Gibson grabbed Taven’s ankles and dragged him outside the ring where Drake tossed him into the barricade before choking him on the ring apron (the chokiest part of the ring!). Gibson tried to keep Taven from making a tag, but it took Drake tagging back in to stop it.

Bravo tagged in and he and Dean double teamed Taven, isolating him in the corner. They hung him up in the tree of woe and everyone took turns wailing on him until the Infantry hit a double dropkick. It wasn’t enough though as Taven kicked out at two.

Taven finally made a hot tag to Darious and he and Dean threw hands in the center of the ring. Darius cleaned house, going for a pin until Gibson broke it up. Duante came in with a springboard splash to help his brother then tagged in Bennett who stacked up Bravo, Gibson and Drake in the corner and chopped them all.

Bravo tried an underhook facebuster on Duante, but it wasn’t enough and Darius broke it up. Bennett hit a spiccoli driver on dean followed by a knee from Taven. Taven then dove out of the ring, taking out Gibson, Drake and Bravo. The Infantry hit a Boot Camp on Darious, but he was able to kick out at two.

Dean and Darius found themselves the legal men and Darius hit a fisherman suplex. Duante tagged in for a big frog splash and pinned Dean in the middle of the ring.

Match Result: Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) & The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeat The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) & Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson)

Really great main event. I like all these teams and they, along with the Premier Athletes all have legit claims to being #1 Contenders for the ROH Tag Titles currently held by the Sons of Texas. Looking forward to seeing how the division shapes up heading into Supercard of Honor in less than a month!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Two tag teams return, WCW’s Crowbar in action

Tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub features two key tag teams making their return in addition to Crowbar of WCW fame making his promotional return.

The 51-year-old Crowbar, formerly known as Devon Storm, first appeared in ROH in 2011 with his last appearance coming in a 2020 battle royal. He takes on Lance Archer tonight.

Several tag teams will be in action including the returning Righteous (Dutch & Vincent); the returning Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett); The Premier Athletes’ Tony Nese & Ari Daivari; as well as the Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico).

Both Taven and Bennett and Dutch and Vincent last wrestled in ROH in December.

In an eight-man tag, Mark Briscoe teams with Top Flight and AR Fox against Shane Taylor, Lee Moriarty and The Infantry.

ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet will put a future title shot on the line in a Proving Ground bout.

Fresh off the cancellation and rescheduling of Supercard of Honor (see you in July!) and in spite of a treasure trove of returns, Episode 113 of ROH on Honorclub was chock full of question marks. Most of those question marks would be who the returning wrestlers would be facing in the ring, but also “would there be hot dogs?” My wife’s answer: doubtful

The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) & The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese) (w/Mark Sterling) defeated Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) & The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)

So, Ring of Honor decided that with so many tag teams returning, why not put them all in the same match? There was no indication that this 8-man match was happening until it did, so, cool? Anyway, Daivari and Nese are like PB and J in the ring, with Sterling making the nice white bread that surrounds them. The Kingdom  haven’t been seen since Final Battle 2024. My assumption is that they have been using the time to find new and exciting baseball caps for Bennett to wear backwards. 

Spanish Announce Project are back from somewhere with lots of black lights and a chilled out vibe, I assume, and when we last saw Dutch and Vincent they were torturing and ultimately losing to the Sons of Texas at Final Battle. Now, having spent some time… doing who knows what, they are back and looking to prove they haven’t missed a step

The match began and The Righteous Athletes worked well together, often isolating a member of the opposing team for some stiff shots and skullduggery. Sterling got involved whenever someone was outside of the ring. The Spanish Announce Kingdom did something unexpected, which was play by the rules. I guess Bennett and Taven are returning with a new, good guy attitude? It might have something to do with Bennett’s new beard.

It was great to see Dutch and Vincent back. They are honestly one of the most exciting teams in wrestling right now and they are completely unorthodox. It was interesting seeing them paired with the Athletes who are so technical based, but never above a little cheating to get the job done.

Bennett got a hot tag to Taven at one point and he single-handedly cleared the ring. Daivari was the legal man in there with him, but that didn’t stop Dutch and Vincent from executing a little double teaming. Angelico saved the day though, taking out Dutch on the outside. Sterling tried to cause a distraction and ate a double superkick from the Kingdom, which was always nice to see.

In the end, Serpentico was left to the Righteous’ devices and after an orange sunshine, Vincent made the pin to get the victory. The Athletes celebrated like they got the pin and Dutch flicked his tongue at them until they left. Weird.

Lance Archer (w/Don Callis) defeated Crowbar

Bad haircuts aside, anyone with “murderhawk” in their nickname such as Lance Archer is a dangerous person to be around (even though I have no idea what a murderhawk actually is. The bird is just trying to eat, Lance. It’s not a crime). Archer has thrown in with Don Callis of the eponymously named Callis Family which makes him even more dangerous. Crowbar (Yes, the Crowbar that used to hang with David Flair in WCW) was last seen helping me move a large rock. Then I put him down somewhere and haven’t been able to find him since. 

So, if it isn’t obvious, Crowbar is very old. That said, he’s still pretty entertaining. I don’t quite understand the thinking in bringing him in to essentially just get beaten up by Archer, but that’s what happened.

Crowbar managed to to more damage to himself than Archer did though. He began by taking back bumps in the ring for no reason, then threw himself over the top rope where Callis stomped him. There may have been method to the madness though, when Archer joined them on the outside, Crowbar sent him into the ring steps with a drop toe hold.

That seemed to make Archer mad, and he introduced Crowbar’s face to his foot repeatedly. Crowbar then tried to introduce his literal crowbar into the match, but the ref stopped him, allowing Archer to chokeslam the WCW legend. After a blackout, Crowbar was done and Archer got the pin.

ROH Women’s World Television Title Proving Ground Match: Red Velvet [c] defeated Ashley Vox

Last week, the announcement of a new ROH Women’s Pure Title had the division all excited. But, Velvet, the reigning ROH Women’s TV Champion is not to be forgotten. In this Proving Ground match, her opponent must pin or submit Velvet or last to a ten-minute draw to earn a shot at the ROH Women’s TV Title. Ashley Vox got married last weekend. That was all they said about her.

Velvet dominated early, as expected. Vox tried to sneak in a few quick rollups, but that did not work out well for her as Velvet sent her face-first into the ropes. Vox did look all right though, throwing some pretty solid haymakers that seemed to surprise the Champion.

Velvet is such a good worker (and credit to Vox as well) that even her chinlocks look devastatingly painful. Velvet also has Olympic Boxers in her family, so when she starts throwing hands, it looks really, really good.

Vox looked like she might have a shot with a big missile dropkick from the top rope, followed by some headbutts. She locked in a fish hook around half way through the match, but was unable to capitalize. Velvet turned it around though and landed her patented “punch you in the face really, really hard” move and got the pin on Vox, dashing her title shot hopes.

After the match, La Catalina (the #1 Contender for Velvet’s Title) sauntered down to the ring. The two jawed at each other in the ring for a few minutes before Velvet got bored and left.

-A vignette aired next with Leila Grey, Deonna Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie all declaring themselves entrants in the tournament to crown the inaugural ROH Women’s Pure Champion.

AR Fox, Mark Briscoe & Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) defeated Shane Taylor Promotions (Carlie Bravo, Lee Moriarty, Shane Taylor & Shawn Dean)

Suddenly, it was Main Event time and oh yes!! Mark Briscoe and Shane Taylor facing off? You can let the other six men in the match take a powder in my humble opinion. I love these big battles, especially when STP are involved. But the one-on-one match between Taylor and Briscoe is where the money is. Perhaps this will be the start of the road towards that? …Tony? Are you listening? 

Briscoe set the tone by tossing a chair in the ring during the entrances. It was quickly cleared out, but I think the point was made. Hearing my pleas, Briscoe and Taylor started things off with Taylor spitting on Briscoe’s hand when a Code of Honor was offered. They immediately began exchanging blows until Taylor tried to get Briscoe up in a driver, but Briscoe broke free and tagged in Fox. Taylor took the hint and brought in Moriarty.

Fox has really been impressive the last few weeks, so he and Moriarty were a great fit. Fox battled Moriarty on the outside and Bravo on the inside of the ring at the same time which was really fun. Dean tagged in though and isolated Fox in the corner so all four members of STP could take turns hurting him.

Fox finally got a tag to Darious and he and Dean mixed it up next. Top Flight and the Infantry are kinda like Batman and the Joker: Two sides of the same coin, destined to battle forever. However, Taylor tagged in and crushed Darious though, screaming “We hate flights!” which in 2025, who doesn’t?

Next, Duante threw himself around the ring, landing splashes and flips on all four of his opponents. Moriarty was legal with the dust cleared, but didn’t make much head way. Briscoe tagged in and took on both members of the Infantry with some classic Redneck Kung Fu.

Fox, and Top Flight launched themselves around the ring taking out STP. Bravo and Briscoe were left alone in the ring and Briscoe landed a picture perfect Jay Driller to get the pin and the victory for his team.

The Kingdom & The Righteous both returning on next ROH TV

The Kingdom are returning to ROH next week.

It was announced that Matt Taven and Mike Bennett would be making their return to the promotion on next week’s show. The duo have largely disappeared from AEW and ROH television since December.

At Worlds End, Kyle O’Reilly reunited with Adam Cole and Roderick Strong, preventing an attack by MJF. In the weeks that followed, the Undisputed Kingdom continued but as a trio, with Taven and Bennett nowhere to be seen. In recent weeks, the trio abandoned The Undisputed Kingdom name in favor of a new name, the Paragon.

The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch) will also be making a return. They last competed on ROH back at Final Battle in December, when they lost to Sammy Guevara and Dustin Rhodes in a double bullrope match that was for the ROH Tag Team titles.

Here is the updated lineup for next week’s ROH:

Samoa Joe defeats MJF, Adam Cole revealed as Devil at AEW Worlds End

For the first time since November 2022, MJF is no longer AEW World Champion as he was submitted by Samoa Joe in the main event of Saturday’s Worlds End from Long Island, New York.

Things then got worse for MJF as his friend Adam Cole was revealed to be the mysterious Devil character along with his henchmen of Wardlow, Roderick Strong and The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett).

The title change didn’t come without controversy as MJF’s hand dropped twice on the mat and then a third time on his own leg, causing referee Bryce Remsburg to momentarily pause after calling for the bell. Based on the reaction he had afterward, that appears to be the impetus for an MJF dispute in the future.

Cole, tan with a trimmed beard, was in MJF’s corner the entire match. While Remsburg was briefly knocked out, MJF called for his Dynamite diamond ring to hit Joe but Cole fumbled around before finally handing it over. Joe managed to avoid the strike and ensnared MJF in a sleeper for the aforementioned tap.

Cole consoled MJF afterward, leading to the four masked henchmen of the Devil to run out and attack. They grabbed both MJF and Cole with one henchman wielding a char and threatening to hit either one of them. MJF yelled to hit himself instead of Cole and then, the lights went out.

When they went back on, Cole was sitting in the chair and slowly put his hair back as MJF was in disbelief.

The four men then revealed themselves and laid MJF out as Cole looked on, eventually pulling the Devil mask out and dropping it on his former friend as the show went off the air. His walking boot remained on as there was no sign of the injury being a ruse.

Taven and Bennett were holding the ROH Tag Team titles they won under masks by defeating MJF in a handicap match on Wednesday’s Dynamite. Afterward, it was revealed that Joe, who was supposed to team with MJF but faked a knee injury, was aligned with the Devil the entire time.

MJF’s first-ever World title run began at November 2022’s Full Gear in Newark, New Jersey, with his win over Jon Moxley. He successfully defended the title ten times, most recently at last month’s Full Gear over Jay White.

He has been battling several injuries as of late, including a torn labrum. His left shoulder was in a brace and heavily taped.

AEW Rampage live results: Battle royale for Tag Team title shot

The next contenders for the AEW Tag Team titles will be decided on Friday’s Rampage.

16 men representing eight teams will compete in an over the top battle royale to earn the title shot. The teams are The Butcher & The Blade, Ethan Page & Brother Zay, Big Bill & Brian Cage, Matt & Jeff Hardy, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker, Serpentico & Luther, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh, and Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal.

The winners will face the winners of Saturday’s FTR vs. MJF & Adam Cole Tag Team title match on Collision.

In a bout between former AEW Women’s Champions, Hikaru Shida and Nyla Rose will renew their rivalry.

Komander replaces the injured Scorpio Sky in his match against Kip Sabian.

Former Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) will return to AEW for the first time since March as they face Hayden Backlund & Myung-Jae Lee.

Big Bill & Brian Cage won a 16-man battle royale to earn a future AEW Tag Team title shot

As you read above, this features eight teams and.a team is not fully eliminated until both men are thrown over the top rope. This is a very random assortment of teams, especially considering The Kingdom are on the card later in the show. 

And yes, this is the second straight week there’s been a battle royale on Rampage for a title shot. Between these, the tournaments and major announcements, the Tony Khan Big Three is complete.

The Albany, New York, faithful were definitely into Bill, chanting his name. He’s really become a cult favorite over the last month or so and his team with Cage in the Blind Eliminator tournament just felt right. 

Part of the story was Singh and how his size gave him an advantage. At one point, Jeff Hardy and Sing were having a go and Bill & Cage waited for a bit to call their shot, eliminating him with a double clothesline. I don’t understand what how AEW views Singh as he barely wrestles and you would think if they see something in him, they would get him going with regular matches. Maybe I have my answer.

In the end, it came down to Bill & Cage vs. Butcher & Blade. All four men brawled with lots of power moves as you would might expect. Bill & Cage hit Blade with their running clothesline/power bomb combo, eliminating him afterward. Butcher fought back, but got hit with a clunky assisted chokeslam/clothesline combo and then tossed, giving Cage & Bill the victory.

This was not a good battle royale and at some point, you have to wonder why AEW Tag Team title contenders are only being determined by tournaments and battle royales.

– The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) gave an impassioned promo explaining why they came back which was all about Ring of Honor. This is their first appearance on AEW TV since March.

Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated Kip Sabian (w/ Penelope Ford)

Komander replaced Scorpio Sky who was advertised on Dynamite and then pulled about 30 minutes later. Odd. Sky wasn’t referenced on this show at all so that whole announcement never happened, ok?

Will Sabian ever try to get revenge on Miro or nah?

This featured a lot less high-flying than most Komander matches which is for the best if he’s going to have longevity in AEW. Sabian is a talent that works hard, but appears slotted for the lower tier of the roster due to the massive amount of talent on top.

Komander survived an Arabian press, a running shooting star press and a Ford eye rake into a Sabian slingshot suplex to stay in this. Komander hit a flying Canadian destroyer followed by his rope walk shooting star press to win this in impressive fashion. This was a really solid TV match.

– A hype video for the Jack Perry/Jerry Lynn confrontation this Wednesday aired, complete with Lynn training footage. I’m interested to see how much Lynn can go at this stage of life.

The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated Hayden Backlund & Myung-Jae Lee

There was no Maria Kanellis-Bennett out for this match which was essentially a throwback to AEW Dark. Taven & Bennett won this in about a minute after hitting the Proton Pack, perhaps kicking off an overdue AEW run after first signing last October.

– A video package on the Dark Order aired following their Fight Without Honor at ROH Death Before Dishonor. John Silver, Alex Reynolds & Evil Uno said they showed a side of themselves that hasn’t been seen for some time and it was time to rebuild. The Rampage tag team division is heating up!

Hikaru Shida defeated Nyla Rose (w/ Marina Shafir)

This is a meeting between two former AEW Women’s Champions and longtime rivals. Shida defeated Rose for her first title at 2020’s Double or Nothing. Both women’s post-title runs have been very up and down with long absences and seemingly not a lot of desire to have them hold the title again despite some championship shots along the way.

The Outcasts (Toni Storm, Ruby Soho and Saraya) were shown backstage watching the match in pure disgust. Sadly, the director did not cut to that women’s division booking sign that inexplicably made its way to Dynamite TV last Wednesday.

Rose used her size advantage to keep the momentum in her favor until Shida got on an offensive roll after the final commercial break. The two traded offense with Shida getting a near fall off a Falcon Arrow. Rose countered a Katana attempt with a lariat but got crotched on the top rope, leading to some Shida headbutts followed by an avalanche Falcon Arrow. As she went for the pin, Shafir put Rose’s boot on the bottom rope to break up the count. 

Shafir got on the ring apron and tried to weakly hit Shida with a kendo stick which Shida grabbed and then nailed Shafir with. Rose used the distraction to try and hit a Beast Bomb, but Shida escaped and hit the Katana for the pin and win. This was fine, but an average match.

The Outcasts then came out on the stage and Shida vs. Storm was then announced for the AEW Women’s title on this Wednesday’s Dynamite.

Battle royale for Tag Team title shot set for AEW Rampage

While FTR will defend the AEW Tag Team titles against Adam Cole & MJF on Saturday’s edition of Collision, the next challenger will be determined on Friday’s AEW Rampage.

Announced on Wednesday’s Dynamite, eight teams (16 men) will compete in a tag team battle royale with the winner earning a future Tag Team title shot.

The teams are Matt & Jeff Hardy, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker, The Butcher & The Blade, Brian Cage & Big Bill, Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal, Serpentico & Luther, Ethan Page & Brother Zay, and Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh.

While they won’t be in the match, The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) will be in action against opponents to be named.

A long rivalry will be renewed as former AEW Women’s Champions Hikaru Shida and Nyla Rose will clash. Shida defeated Rose in a no DQ match at 2020’s Double or Nothing to kick off her first title reign.

After returning to action recently on Collision after a lengthy absence, Scorpio Sky will take on Kip Sabian. It’s Sky’s first match on the show since June 2022.

Zack Sabre Jr. to defend NJPW Television title on Ring of Honor TV

The NJPW TV title will be on the line this Thursday on Ring of Honor TV as Zack Sabre Jr. will defend against AR Fox.

Sabre Jr. was part of the first ROH TV show on HonorClub in a successful title defense against Blake Christian. The inaugural TV Champion will be looking for the seventh defense of his title.

Former ROH Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez will make her return to action after dealing with an injury as she faces Ashley D’Amboise. This will be her first match since losing the title to Athena at last December’s Final Battle.

In a Fight Without Honor (no DQ) match, The Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) will take on Darius Martin & Action Andretti in a feud that began while Dante Martin was still healthy before his recent ankle/foot injury.

The 11-match lineup will also feature ROH Tag Team Champion Rey Fenix against Gringo Loco in their third-ever singles match.

AEW’s Maria Kanellis to undergo thyroid surgery

Maria Kanellis is set to undergo surgery. 

The 40-year-old member of The Kingdom took to Instagram today to announce she will be having half her thyroid removed. Kanellis noted that she has been experiencing symptoms for the past two and a half years but did not have the opportunity to deal with the issue until recently. 

Kanellis wrote:

Today I am getting thyroid surgery to remove half my thyroid which includes a nodule. I’ve been have symptoms for the past 2 and a half years. Heart racing, trouble with weight loss, skin changes, exhaustion, mood changes, sore throat, anxiety, period changes, raspy voice, trouble swallowing, brain fog, calcium deficiency, amongst others. But, with having 2 kids, the Pandemic, and multiple times being fired I just didn’t have the time to really focus on it. Now, my doctor has told me that there are abnormal cells which could turn cancerous and a possibility of causing afib, which is a heart condition. So, with the full support of @aew, it’s time. Thank you to @tonyrkhan, Megha, and CD for the support!! And of course thank you to my wonderful husband @therealmichaelbennett and my amazing mother for helping us through this time!! Recovery is supposed to be about 2 weeks for the incision and about a year for the hormones to balance. I can work after 2 weeks with no restrictions. I will keep you all posted…

Maria, along with her husband Mike Bennett and his tag partner, Matt Taven, debuted for AEW at the Rampage taping from Toronto on October 13, 2022. The Kingdom is 2-0 as a tag team in the promotion although they lost to Top Flight at ROH Final Battle in December. 

Maria is also the CEO of Women’s Wrestling Army, a promotion that ran events in Chicago and Rhode Island last year. She is a former Knockouts Champion, WWE 24/7 Champion, and won the Slammy for Diva of the Year in 2009. 

Report: The Kingdom sign multi-year AEW contracts

The Kingdom’s Matt Taven, Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis-Bennett are now under multi-year AEW contracts according to a Fightful report on Wednesday.

The trio, who debuted at the end of the Friday, October 14th Rampage from Toronto, Canada, weren’t officially signed at the time of their appearance. As part of the show-closing angle, they challenged FTR for the ROH Tag Team titles — the date and location for which have yet to be announced.

Of the three, Kanellis-Bennett has a talent-only contract and is not expected to wrestle.

The three, and Vincent, recently wrapped up with Impact Wrestling, losing the Tag Team titles to Heath & Rhino on last week’s TV that was taped following this month’s Bound for Glory. Vincent was recently spotted backstage at a WWE Raw TV show which has led to speculation about his future employment.

Dave Meltzer had reported that WWE had interest in Taven while Fightful reported Bennett and Kanellis-Bennett had conversations with WWE but were unsure of any contract offer coming out of those talks. FTR had reportedly pushed for the team to be signed by AEW.

The Kingdom has yet to appear on AEW TV, Dark or Dark: Elevation since making their debut.

The Kingdom/OGK make AEW debut on Rampage

The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, and Maria Kanelis Bennett) made their AEW debut on Rampage Friday, officially calling out FTR.

FTR and Shawn Spears were successful in defeating Brian Cage and Gates of Agony when the trio interrupted their celebration. Kanellis referred to themselves as The Kingdom and called her men the top guys, as they were the ones that built this company on The Kingdom’s back, as they were ROH and IWGP Tag Team Champions before they were. Her promo distracted FTR and Spears long enough for The Embassy to jump them from behind, with The Kingdom eventually joining in. The show ended with Wardlow and Samoa Joe hitting the ring to make the save.

In a backstage interview after their debut, Taven said they came in as they never got their rematch for the ROH Tag Team titles. He and Bennett lost the titles to The Briscoes at Final Battle 2021.

Taven and Bennett, who have teamed together as The OGK since their reunion in 2020, had been wrestling for Impact Wrestling since the start of the year. They had been the Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions since August, having dropped the titles to Heath Slater and Rhyno at last weekend’s Impact television tapings before departing the company.

Taven, Bennett, and Kanelis, along with Adam Cole, formed The Kingdom in Ring of Honor back in 2015, with Taven and Bennett winning the ROH World Tag Team titles twice. After Bennett left the promotion later that year, the two reunited in ROH following Bennett’s release from WWE.

ROH Global Wars Espectacular results: Rush & Cobb vs. Kingdom

ROH and CMLL’s Global Wars Espectacular tour wrapped up in Milwaukee on Sunday. Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman, and Colt Cabana were the commentary team for the night.

Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) defeated The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser & Brawler Milonas)

Bruiser is from Milwaukee and sounded to have more people behind him tonight. Lots of beer-centric chants and puns were thrown out at the beginning of this.

The match slipped into a brawl outside the ring early on. Bruiser did a big plancha onto every one of these large individuals. It’d be fair to say these are the four biggest wrestlers in ROH at the moment.

Bruiser went on a run late in this and took both PCO and King out, then did a rolling senton off the apron to the floor onto PCO. Everyone in this match did a few high spots that you wouldn’t normally see from guys this big.

Vinny Marseglia from The Kingdom came out and pushed Bruiser from the top rope before The Bouncers tried finishing the match. PCO later landed a PCOsault onto Milonas, and he and King both pinned Milonas to put The Bouncers away.

This was a decent hoss tag match, not always perfect but entertaining enough to get the crowd into it. Despite the loss, The Bouncers shared two tall boys of beer before heading to the back.

ROH Television Champion Shane Taylor defeated Dysfunction to retain his title

This was less of a real match and more of an impromptu segment to get Taylor on the show without having to wrestle. Taylor has been doing an angle where he’s been upset about not being booked this weekend even though he’s the TV Champion.

Dysfunction, a veteran Milwaukee wrestler, came out to take on the champion. Taylor said that if Dysfunction could last five minutes with him, he’d award him the title.

Dysfunction slid to the floor and tried waiting out the clock. Taylor got on the mic and said he heard Dysfunction was good but didn’t know he was a “little b*tch.” Taylor said that he’d give him 10 seconds where he’d put his hands behind his back and give Dysfunction a free shot. He came in and Taylor took him out quickly.

Women of Honor World Champion Kelly Klein & Stacy Shadows defeated The Allure (Angelina Love & Mandy Leon)

This wasn’t bad. Shadows was very popular with the Milwaukee crowd. She wrestled Klein here in ROH when they visited earlier this year.

Shadows took a big bump through the ropes into the ring post to the floor, then Leon dove onto her from the apron. In the ring, Klein spiked Love hard with a DDT for the win.

Leon sprayed perfume in Klein’s eyes after the match and Love posed with the belt. They’ll have a match at Death Before Dishonor at the end of the month.

– A backstage segment aired where Coleman complimented Rhett Titus on the match he had against Mark Haskins on Friday. Haskins walked up and thanked Titus for the match. Kenny King then came up and said Titus had turned soft. Titus said, “At least I wasn’t knocked out by a punk-ass cameraman.”

Marty Scurll defeated Joe Hendry

Hendry’s over-the-top cheesy theme song is really catchy, I’m embarrassed to say. He offered Scurll a handshake before the match, but Scurll declined and flapped away like a bird instead.

Once they really got the match underway it became a crisp back-and-forth exchange of grips and holds. Things heated up when they went to the floor and Scurll whipped Hendry into the barricade, then followed up with a low running European uppercut up against the barricade. This crowd loved it.

While the attendance looked to be low, similar to ROH’s other weekend shows, the audience was enthusiastic and helped carry this and other matches along. Scurll was very popular, but they sounded to have fun booing Hendry.

Scurll landed a powerbomb with a stacking pin for two and later planted Hendry with a half-and-half suplex. He opted out of the pin attempt and used a superplex on Hendry for a two count.

Hendry later returned Scurll’s attack with a Hendry Lock, a variation on Kurt Angle’s ankle lock, but Scurll was able to break the hold. The match heated up from here, and some of the crowd was even chanting Hendry’s name as he held Scurll in a powerslam position. Dalton Castle’s music then hit.

Castle was carried out by three new Boys. He waved to Hendry, and Scurll found an opening to lock on the chicken wing to get Hendry to tap. Solid match.

– ROH prospect Brian Johnson came out and started screaming until his mic was cut. Maria Manic then came out and Johnson chopped her. She no-sold it, then Johnson rolled out of the ring. Manic took out the ring crew and put one guy in a torture rack.

Silas Young & Josh Woods defeated Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham

Tonight was Young’s birthday so the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” to him. He pretended not to like it. Woods looks more comfortable in the semi-comedy role, the nice student to Young’s delusional mentor gimmick.

Woods did tons of awesome modern-style grappling with both Gresham and Lethal. He easily translates the new school Eddie Bravo/Keenan Cornelius style of grappling into pro wrestling. Lethal complimented Woods and offered to shake his hand, which Woods did and acted excited about. The crowd loved that.

Young and Gresham reignited their feud from earlier this summer, which showcased Gresham’s new more aggressive side. A good example of this was when he ripped his athletic tape from his wrist and threw it to ref Todd Sinclair, who bent over to pick it up. When he wasn’t looking, Gresham sack-tapped Young behind Sinclair’s back.

Lethal was storyline-upset with Gresham’s behavior. Gresham continued to act out and brutalize his opponents from midway through the match and on. Later, Young and Gresham got into a chop battle.

Gresham and Lethal went on an awesome tear toward the end of this. Lethal went for a flying elbow drop, but Woods caught him in an armbar. Gresham tried using a chair at the end of the match, but it backfired after Lethal wouldn’t use it. Young was able to put Lethal away after this.

Young looked pleased with Woods after the match, patting him on the back following their third win of the weekend.

Gresham and Lethal got into an argument about the chair. They played the blame game. The bickering over whether it’s ethical to use the chair to get to the top escalated into a fist fight that was quickly broken up by the ring crew. The crowd lost it and chanted “let them fight.” This was the hottest moment of the weekend so far.

PJ Black defeated Flip Gordon and Triton in a three-way match

Interesting match with tons of new-school aerial action. Triton wore his thong trunks again tonight and Cabana accurately described it as “espectacular.”

Triton did an awesome springboard quebrada to the floor early on. Gordon convincingly faked another knee injury after pretending to tweak it when he landed funny after a PJ Black moonsault. Everyone seemed to think it was a shoot until he came back a few minutes later.

Black did a big quebrada into the ring onto both Triton and Gordon. Triton was awesome when he was on offense and everything he did was over with this crowd.

When things got hotter toward the end, Gordon ripped Triton’s mask off. While the referee’s back was turned, Gordon tried using a chair on Black, but Tracy Williams ran out and took the chair from Gordon and took him to the back. Black then hit a springboard 450 splash for the win. 

Caristico, Stuka Jr. & Volador Jr. defeated Okumura, Hechicero & Rey Bucanero

This was a blast to watch and a nice change of pace from the other matches on the card. Hechicero was the standout on the rudo team. The tecnicos team was always flashy, and for some reason had a teal color-coded gear scheme among them. Caristico is still wearing kinesio tape on his back.

The pace compared to everything else on the card was so much more fluid and explosive. There was a series of dives to the floor before Volador did a super frankensteiner to Hechicero to win the match for his team.

– Silas Young and Josh Woods came out and Young expressed he was thankful for Woods and was impressed with him over the weekend. Young invited The Bouncers out to make up with them in the ring.

When The Bouncers started singing “Happy Birthday” to Young, Young attacked Beer City Bruiser from behind, then Vinny Marseglia from The Kingdom came out and ambushed Milonas. Woods acted shocked. Marseglia choked Bruiser with a wrench and his mouth started bleeding. Young said “this is MY town” as he and Marseglia left the ring.

LifeBlood (Bandido, Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams) defeated The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) & Barbaro Cavernario

This was great. Cavernario blended right into this, like he’s been wrestling with all of these guys for years. With the amount of talent in the ring at the same time, there was no way this was going to be bad.

Mark Briscoe did his running Cactus Jack elbow from the apron. LifeBlood did a triple dive to the floor. Later in the match, Williams and Haskins lifted Jay Briscoe so Bandido could land a 450 onto him.

The finish of this saw LifeBlood do a long sequence of team moves and synchronized spots from the ropes before Haskins hit a diving double stomp to pick up the win for his team. Really good stuff here.

Rush & Jeff Cobb defeated The Kingdom (ROH World Champion Matt Taven & Vinny Marseglia)

Taven and Rush have great chemistry together, and it was really Rush who shined brightest out of the bunch. They are building towards Taven and Rush’s Death Before Dishonor title match at the end of the month, and without much time left they’ve done a good job in two nights.

Cobb looked impressive as always here. I think because Rush gives Taven a lot of respect as champion it gets both of them over with the live crowd as a result. Cobb pinned Marseglia after hitting the Tour of the Islands.

They did an angle after that built more for Death Before Dishonor. Taven said no one is as good as him and teased fighting Rush, and when a Rush went to ambush Taven, Marseglia jumped him. Taven then did his own version of the Bull’s Horns after the match with the assist from Marseglia to close the show. 

Final thoughts —

This was the best top-to-bottom show of the Global Wars weekend tour. The Lethal/Gresham pull-apart had great organic heat, and based on how the crowd reacted, it could be an exciting angle to follow down the line. It was the only angle to get over this weekend, really. What fans loved the most this weekend was the action.

Scurll and Hendry had the sleeper match and the first really solid one of the night. Beer City Bruiser and Silas Young were in a number of segments because they’re from the area. Josh Woods somehow improved five-fold over the weekend and seems more comfortable doing the gimmick work.

The LifeBlood vs. Briscoes & Cavernario match is worth checking out and throws yet another top-tier match onto The Briscoes’ track record for 2019. The CMLL six-man was a nice addition and added a much-needed extra flavor to the invariable ROH programming style.

While parts of the preliminary card were still weak, the Milwaukee crowd was well-behaved and were with it for pretty much the entire show. Hopefully the company can keep some of tonight’s momentum as they head into Death Before Dishonor in Las Vegas at the end of the month.

PCO & King facing Marseglia & O’Ryan at ROH Summer Supercard

ROH has announced a tag match for Summer Supercard.

Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) will face The Kingdom (Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan) at the event. It’s taking place at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada this Friday (August 9) and will air live on HonorClub.

PCO & King currently hold the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles with Marty Scurll. Flip Gordon was revealed as the newest member of their Villain Enterprises group in June.

The Kingdom’s Matt Taven is defending his ROH World Championship against Alex Shelley at Summer Supercard.

ROH TV results: LifeBlood vs. The Kingdom

PJ Black defeated Eli Isom

Isom put up a tough fight against the savvy veteran in the early going, landing a huge knee, but inevitably, Black’s experience edge earned him control as he caught Isom in a Boston crab.

After the break, Isom was trapped in a rocking horse style submission by Black. Isom fought out and managed to get back in the fight with an arm-trapped German suplex. A striking exchange occurred, but Isom connected with a step-up enzuigiri, which allowed him to hit a modified driver. Black then bailed to the floor and Isom followed with a suicide dive.

Isom threw Black back into the ring and went for some sort of springboard maneuver, but he slipped and nearly landed on his head. Black took control back from the rookie and hit a hurricanrana off the top rope.

Black then used a springboard 450 and went for the pin, but Isom kicked out at two. Black went up top again and landed a moonsault double stomp — and that kept Isom down for the three count.

– Rhett Titus was at the announce table flexing for Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman.

Women of Honor World Champion Kelly Klein defeated Ray Lyn

Before the match, Lyn told Klein that she doesn’t like or respect her, and she will never shake her hand.

Klein disrespected Lyn right back in the early going, but Lyn grabbed a handful of hair to get the advantage. She put the boots to Klein, beat her up, and went up top. Lyn came off with a crossbody but was caught by Klein, who threw Lyn with a fallaway slam.

Klein fired up and nailed some hard strikes, finishing with a big boot. Klein then hit K-Power for the win.

After the match, Klein picked up Lyn and shook her hand. She declared that she was a fighting champion and that she was proud to defend the Women of Honor Championship. She then talked trash on Allure. She said Women of Honor is about wrestling.

This brought out Allure’s Mandy Leon and Velvet Sky. Meanwhile, Angelina Love slid in behind Klein and nailed her with the running boot. Jenny Rose came in to make the save, but she got laid out as well. Allure used lipstick to tag an “A” on the forehead of Rose.

– Dalton Castle came to the ring and called out The Boys, saying that he owed them an explanation for his attack on them. The Boys hesitantly came to the ring. Castle said that what happened at Madison Square Garden was a mistake. He said he was frustrated and took his frustrations out on them. Castle said he wanted to move past this mistake and go forward.

The Boys hugged Castle, and Castle said that the three of them are stronger than ever. He then declared that he would never put his hands on his Boys again. Castle paused and then added that these are no Boys of his. Castle attacked The Boys and left them laying. He took their masks off as well.

LifeBlood (Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams) defeated The Kingdom (TK O’Ryan & Vinny Marseglia)

The Kingdom jumped LifeBlood at the bell, but bailed almost immediately.

Once the referee had control, it was Marseglia who took over on Haskins. Marseglia tagged in O’Ryan, and he began chopping away. Williams was able to make a sneaky blind tag to get LifeBlood back in the fight. Williams blocked the interference from Marseglia. LifeBlood trapped the feet of O’Ryan and Marseglia and then used a double Camel Clutch on the Kingdom.

After the break, The Kingdom had isolated Williams and were targeting his already injured shoulder. The Kingdom cut the ring off from Williams and stopped him from being able to reach Haskins. O’Ryan cranked a shoulder lock on Williams and followed it up with a double underhook suplex.

O’Ryan tagged in Marseglia, who walloped Williams in the corner. However, Williams landed on his feet off of a back suplex attempt and nailed Marseglia with a leg drop. That allowed him to get to Haskins for the tag. Haskins came in and ran wild until hooking an arm lock on O’Ryan. Marseglia pulled O’Ryan’s foot on the ropes to cause the break.

LifeBlood continued to attack O’Ryan. Williams went up top, but Marseglia distracted him. It didn’t matter though as Williams managed to drop O’Ryan with a DDT on the top turnbuckle.

Marseglia came in for the save. The Kingdom went for the House of 1000 Horses, but O’Ryan took too long and Williams escaped. Williams hoisted up O’Ryan and dropped him on his knee. Haskins came in and put O’Ryan into a Sharpshooter submission. O’Ryan had nowhere to go and had to tap.

Williams grabbed the microphone after their win and said that Ring of Honor was all about taking care of business. He called out Bully Ray and called him a company cancer. He invited Bully Ray to the ring. Bully Ray came out onto the ramp, said “go to hell,” and walked away.

ROH Masters of the Craft results: Two title matches

ROH was in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday for their Masters of the Craft special broadcast live on the HonorClub streaming service. Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana, and NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis were the announce team for the night. 

ROH TV Champion Jeff Cobb defeated Rhett Titus in a non-title match

Titus flexed and posed before the match. The announce team used the word “striations” very much with regard to Mr. Titus. 

They did some light comedy chain wrestling at the beginning. Titus kept slipping out of Cobb’s holds and the announcers said it was because he had so much baby oil on his body. At one point, Titus tried a tope to the floor and landed very close to head-first onto the concrete. Yikes.

Titus hammered down on Cobb for a few minutes inside the ring until Cobb came back with a huge overhead belly-to-belly suplex. He later used a delayed superplex followed by a standing moonsault for a two-count. At some point during this part of the match, Cobb’s nose looked to be busted open hardway. 

Titus used a top rope X-Factor at one point. Cobb did a new move, or rather combination of moves: two floatover gutwrench suplexes into one floatover piledriver. He followed up with the Tour of the Islands for the win. 

This was a decent opener. Both looked good, but Cobb, as usual, looked especially impressive. He had a rock-solid response from this crowd, too. 

Jenny Rose defeated Holidead

Before the match, Riccaboni brought up how Holidead was trained by Gangrel. She bullied Rose around at the beginning of the match — good powerhouse heeling around on her part. 

As Rose picked up some steam and knocked Holidead out of the ring, the Allüre (Mandy Leon, Angelina Love, and Velvet Sky) came out from the back and distracted her. They came out with selfie sticks and sat ringside. They’re doing a mean girls gimmick that feels fifteen years out of date. They are being called “influencers” by the announce team. 

Nick Aldis made a great “Glengarry, Glen Ross” reference during one of the slower parts of the match (“Always Be Closing”). Rose eventually made a final comeback and used a uranage for the seemingly out-of-nowhere win. 

This wasn’t great. What momentum the match might have built to was killed by the Allüre angle, but the crowd seemed satisfied nonetheless. 

Eight-man tag match: Shane Taylor, Silas Young & The Briscoes (Jay & Mark) defeated Coast 2 Coast (Shaheem Ali & LSG) & The Bouncers (Brian Milonas & Beer City Bruiser) 

This was better than you’d think it’d be. Ali and Young were first in and chain wrestled. Jay Briscoe was next in and he and Ali traded blows. LSG and Taylor had a good exchange that ended in LSG literally flying into Taylor and bouncing off his body.

Milonas and Taylor had a shoulder block contest which the crowd was pretty into. The match devolved into a massive brawl that spilled out around the ring. 

Mark Briscoe and LSG had a nice exchange back in the ring. Beer City Bruiser and Young had a few exchanges as a part of some angle the two have going. 

They did a sequence of dives at the end that had the crowd going pretty crazy. Taylor did a running cannonball off the apron, LSG and Ali did a pair of dives, Mark Briscoe did a corkscrew senton from the top to the floor, and finally Bruiser hit a plancha from the top to the floor that Cabana politely called as follows: “It wasn’t pretty, but it was effective!”

After more madness both in and out of the ring, Taylor was able to land a big Fire Thunder Driver that they’re calling Greetings from 216 on LSG for the win.

Again, this was better than you might think it’d be from looking at the lineup on paper. Milonas and Taylor had a few good big man exchanges that might lead to something down the road. Coast 2 Coast shined brighter than usual here tonight, as well.

So Aldis kept poking fun at Cabana on commentary from the beginning of the broadcast, all for beating him in a match a year ago in China. After the tag match, Cabana got on the mic and challenged Aldis to a rematch on this show. Aldis accepted but was indignant about it and stormed to the back after the challenge. He assured Cabana he’d “stretch” him. 

Rush defeated Soberano Jr.

Riccaboni talked about how Soberano is the son of CMLL’s Euforia. He’s currently CMLL Welterweight Champion. Compared to a year or two ago, Soberano has noticeably improved. He used an awesome tornillo on Rush early on in this one for two. 

Rush came back quickly and did a few of his signature spots to Soberano — the fake-out dropkick into kick-in-face into Tranquilo pose, etc. He later took the match to the floor and whipped Soberano from corner to corner, shoving him into the barricades. 

It was only moments later that Rush had Soberano lying prone in the corner ready to take the Bull’s Horn basement dropkick to the face. Rush hit it and grabbed the quick and dominant win. It seems like ROH are booking Rush in short squashes to build him for something much bigger this summer. 

Four-way match: Bandido defeated PJ Black, Caristico, and Flip Gordon

Crazy match. Caprice Coleman joined Riccaboni on commentary for this one. Riccaboni did a nice rundown of Caristico’s career in Mexico before the bout. 

Bandido and Gordon got the loudest reactions upon their entrances. Crazy to think Bandido is getting twice the reaction Caristico gets these days considering how popular Caristico used to be.

Gordon has what looks to be a 20-pack now. Looking at him just a year ago to now is wild, a pretty crazy transformation. He was really good in this match. 

It was fast action in this from the start, as you might imagine. Caristico and Bandido were pretty amazing together, as were Bandido and Flip Gordon. Those were the especially good parts of this match. The crowd treats Bandido and Gordon like total superstars already. 

PJ Black was hanging in a Tree of Woe while Bandido attempted to superplex Caristico when he sat up and German suplexed Bandido, who in turn superplexed Caristico. Whew. 

The match was filled with lots of innovative stuff, really cool flying, though there were a few obviously botched moments, like when Caristico slipped off the ropes, or when Black went to do some double lucha-style submission to two guys but collapsed. Thankfully the crowd stuck with everything, and since there were so many moving parts in this match it was easy to forget. Bandido and Caristico did multiple dives to the floor just after this. 

In what will surely be in GIF form this week, Flip Gordon did a tope con giro from the ring over the barrier into the upper level of the crowd onto all three opponents. He launched himself really, really far. 

The finish saw Black attempt an O’Connor Roll on Gordon, but Bandido swooped in and used his slingshot German suplex on both Black and Gordon, pinning Black in the process. 

Huge reaction from the crowd after this. They cheered everyone in the match separately, but for some reason the ring announcer gave a special instruction to the crowd to thank the “CMLL Legend” Caristico. Very good match with Bandido and Gordon looking especially impressive. 

30-Minute Iron Man tag team match: Jonathan Gresham & Jay Lethal defeated LifeBlood (Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams) (2–1)

Kenny King joined the announce team for this. King sold Great Muta’s mist he got in the eyes at G1 Supercard. He wore sunglasses and came out with a cane and acted like he was blind. He rambled a lot before the match started.

The winners of this match will face IWGP & ROH World Tag Team Champions Guerrillas of Destiny in Buffalo, NY.

Jay Lethal was loudly over with the crowd. Williams had great grappling sequences with both Gresham and Lethal. At one point, Lethal ordered Haskins to tag Williams back into the ring to keep wrestling. 

The ring announcer gave the time at five-minute intervals during this match, unlike what they did during Lethal and Matt Taven’s 60-minute draw last month. 

Haskins and Gresham exchanged really hard chops and kicks. LifeBlood isolated Gresham on their side of the ring for a while. Both Williams and Haskins did some interesting catch submissions that worked over Gresham’s shoulder and taped-up arm. 

Every few minutes ROH would display a small scoreboard in the bottom right corner of the screen. Jay Lethal made his way back into the ring at around 11 minutes into the match to bail Gresham out. The two then started working over Williams’ knee, with Gresham using some unique figure-four variations. 

Later, Lethal put Williams in a traditional figure-four leg lock and Williams seemed close to tapping before grabbing the bottom ropes for the break. Williams then connected with a diving rocker dropper from the second rope onto Lethal and was then able to tag out to a fired up Haskins, who used a brutal looking double arm breaker submission on Gresham for a close submission victory until Gresham caught the ropes with his ankles.

Haskins dove onto both Gresham and Lethal outside the ring, then used a pumphandle driver for two. Minutes later, Haskins put Gresham in a Sharpshooter that Caprice Coleman put over as “the deepest Sharpshooter in professional wrestling.” Whatever works. It was around 20 minutes into the match when LifeBlood went up 1-0.

Williams and Lethal kicked off the second fall and exchanged stiff forearms and chops. LifeBlood did a suplex into an atomic drop on Lethal for two. I’d never seen that one before. 

A few minutes later, Lethal and Haskins exchanged suplex attempts. LifeBlood double-teamed Lethal while Gresham sold on outside the ring. Gresham made his way back into the match, though, and was able to catch Williams mid-air than German suplex him. With under five minutes to go, Lethal launched Gresham into Williams to deliver a big Cornette Cutter to even the match score to 1-1. 

LifeBlood hit their signature moves and looked like they were about to get a double tap until Lethal and Williams spilled out of the ring. While Haskins had Gresham in another Sharpshooter, Gresham rolled Haskins up and scored another quick win, his team now up 2-1.

The last few minutes consisted of Haskins using a number of leg locks on Gresham until Lethal could make the save, tagging Gresham discretely and landing a big diving elbow drop for a close two. The teams brawled until the time limit ran out; Lethal and Gresham won, 2-1. They will face Guerrillas of Destiny in Buffalo, NY soon for the double tag titles. 

Solid match that flew by. It didn’t feel like 30-minutes at all. Lethal is a master at pacing, apparently, like Keiji Muto or something. Hard-hitting with lots of action, well balanced. Not perfect, but very good. The crowd was in and out during it but was generally on board.

I think this was also good for LifeBlood, who actually needed more exposure. The longer nature of the match at hand gave them a chance to show the crowd that they are, in fact, very good wrestlers. Haskins is especially good. 

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match: Colt Cabana defeated Nick Aldis (w/ Kamille) by DQ

It was announced as a title match just as Cabana made his way to the ring. Sounds like there was some miscommunication as Riccaboni announced that the match was for the NWA title, but then Cabana got on the mic and did an angle about how they hadn’t announced it yet. Riccaboni saved it by saying Cabana was “making sure” it was for the championship. 

They did some smooth chain wrestling at the top of the match. These two complement each other physically, they’re just about the same height and around the same weight. The crowd was pretty loudly behind Cabana for this match. 

Cabana missed a splash off the ropes when Aldis got his knees up. Cabana was able to counter back with the Billy Goat’s Curse submission; Aldis grabbed the ropes for a break. 

Aldis later landed a tombstone and a big diving elbow drop for a late-match two count. Cabana returned with a big quebrada onto Aldis for two. The crowd was into this.

Right as this happened, Marty Scurll ran to the ring and stole the NWA title. Kamille got in his face and Aldis blindsided him. Cabana then dropkicked Aldis but knocked him into Scurll. Scurll and Cabana then started jawjacking and getting into it physically, causing the ref to call the match as a DQ in favor of Cabana, who won, though Aldis retained.

Scurll smashed the NWA title over Aldis’ face after to build for their match at the Crockett Cup event on April 27, which will also be on Honor Club. 

Dalton Castle came to the ring next. People still cheered him despite turning against The Boys at the MSG show last week. He walked around the ring and through the crowd with a mic and teased saying something but didn’t. He smirked and walked to the back. That’s it. People still chanted his name after he was gone. 

ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship match: Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, Brody King & PCO) defeated The Kingdom (ROH World Champion Matt Taven, Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan) in a Columbus Street Fight to retain their titles

Chaotic brawl that went all over the place. Scurll got on the mic and said since they had done this match so many times before, tonight they’ll make it interesting and make the match a Columbus Street Fight. The Kingdom didn’t hesitate to agree and the teams brawled as the bell rang.

Brody King and PCO did tope con giros at the beginning of the match. King and PCO have such unique and distinct charisma. A few minutes later, the chairs were brought in. There were four or five chairs in the ring at one point and they did a series of chair spots. Scurll sat and flexed on the chairs and probably got the biggest pop of that section.

Later, Marseglia and O’Ryan superplexed 51-year old PCO onto about five of the aforementioned folding chairs inside the ring, which was followed by a “holy sh*t” chant from the crowd.

The crowd then chanted for tables. Marseglia and O’Ryan argued over whether to use a table or not and Taven tried to mediate — but Scurll and King caught them and tossed them back into the ring. Scurll and King did some cool double-team moves together. 

There was a lot of stalling as the Kingdom set a table up in the corner of the ring. King later used the table by putting Matt Taven through it with a Death Valley Driver. Scurll snapped Taven’s fingers after this.

Marseglia kept acting like he wanted to pull out more tables from under the ring. The teams spilled back to the floor and later King gave Marseglia a big lariat on the entrance stage. 

O’Ryan was on the top rope going for something when Scurll snapped fingers on both of O’Ryan’s hands, then spit in his face until O’Ryan lost his balance and fell through a few tables. Marseglia did an Acid Drop from the apron to the floor, then a somersault senton through a table to King near the announce table. Carnage and craziness all over the place. 

In the ring, Taven gave PCO a low blow and hit the Climax on him, but Scurll made the save. Taven screamed about how he’s so sick of Scurll and called him a Melvin. He did Just the Tip, the running knee, then kept telling Scurll to get up so that he could hit him with the ROH belt.

Instead, PCO out of nowhere got up like Frankenstein and hit Taven with the belt. PCO then hit his monstrous moonsault on Taven to pin the current ROH World Champion only one week after he won the title. The announcers put this over huge and were screaming their heads off. 

The show’s final shot was of PCO holding not just his ROH Six-Man title but also the ROH World title over a prone Matt Taven. Let’s see if this leads to a title shot for PCO in the next few months. 

ROH TV results: Villain Enterprises win Six-Man Tag Team titles

A recap aired highlighting the feud between The Kingdom and Villain Enterprises.

Dalton Castle joined Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman on commentary for the first match to scout his upcoming opponent, Rush.

Rush defeated Mark Haskins

Some fast switches led to a standoff. Rush bated Haskins to chop him repeatedly. Rush followed up with a monster chop and the brawl spilled to the floor.

Back in the ring, Rush hit Haskins with kicks to the chest. Haskins fired back with kicks of his own and finally knocked Rush down with a leg lariat. He followed that up with a suicide dive to the floor. He tossed Rush back in and went for a pumphandle driver, but it didn’t land flush. That allowed Rush to connect with a big German suplex.  

Rush faked his running stomp in the corner — which was a mistake as his arrogance allowed Haskins to lock on a triangle submission attempt. Rush powerbombed him to escape. Haskins got to his feet and landed a roll-through slam. Haskins hit a tornado DDT, but each man got to their feet and hit a simultaneous big boot to put each other down.

Each wrestler looked worse for wear, but Haskins ran at Rush. He launched Haskins into the corner and followed that up with his running double stomp to pick up the win.

In the ring, Matt Taven and Marty Scurll argued over who should get the World title shot at G1 Supercard. Jay Lethal offered a triple threat — but each man said no, citing that they didn’t want to be in a match where the other man could lose it for them.

Lethal then offered a triple threat ladder match and they all agreed.

Jeff Cobb offered to put his ROH Television title on the line if Will Ospreay would put up his NEVER Openweight Championship in their match at Madison Square Garden.

A recap showing Mayu Iwatani defeating Kelly Klein played. Klein then spoke about how the loss made her question who she really is. Klein said that she needs to change her approach to Iwatani. Klein and Iwatani are tied at two wins each going into the MSG show.

Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO & Brody King) defeated The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan) to retain their titles

A brawl ensued, but Brody King broke it up with a huge flip dive to give the Villains the advantage. In the ring, Scurll was about to attack the fingers of Taven, but The Kingdom broke it up.

The Kingdom cut off Scurll and went to work. Marseglia started it off with a double underhook backbreaker. Next, Taven came in with some big punches. Finally, Scurll landed an enzuigiri, allowing him to tag in PCO.

PCO came in and cleared house. He landed a pop-up powerbomb on O’Ryan and a package piledriver on Taven. Marseglia hit a tornado cutter but missed with a flipping senton. The Kingdom were forced to retreat to the floor.

Scurll launched PCO over the top rope onto Taven and Marseglia. Chaos reigned on the floor. Eventually, The Kingdom got back in control by swarming King. They used the Rock Star Supernova slam on King, but he wasn’t the legal man. All three members of The Kingdom did dives on PCO, but they didn’t stop him. PCO then hit a flip dive on Taven. That sent us to the final commercial break.

Marseglia powerbombed PCO off the apron onto the steel ramp. That finally neutralized the big man. This left Scurll alone in the ring with O’Ryan, and Scurll managed to catch him in the chicken wing to get the submission win. Villain Enterprises are the new ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions.
