The latest chapter in Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic’s rivalry is set for next week.
WWE has announced Lee vs. Dijakovic for next Wednesday’s episode of NXT. It’s being promoted as the “rubber match” between the two due to Lee and Dijakovic each having wins over each other in NXT.
Lee defeated Dijakovic two weeks ago, while Dijakovic picked up a win against Lee in August. They also went to a double countout in a match this February.
Pete Dunne vs. Damian Priest has also been announced for next Wednesday. Their feud began last week when Priest attacked Dunne after Dunne defeated Danny Burch.
Tegan Nox, who suffered a brutal leg injury in last year’s Mae Young Classic, is also set to make her televised NXT US in-ring return. She returned to the ring at an NXT house show this July and also recently appeared on NXT UK TV. Nox’s opponent for next week hasn’t been revealed.
Dominik Dijakovic and Keith Lee’s rivalry is coming to the USA Network.
During tonight’s live premiere of NXT on USA, it was announced that Dijakovic vs. Lee will take place next Wednesday (September 25). It will be part of the USA Network portion of next week’s NXT broadcast.
For tonight and next week’s episodes, the first hour of NXT is airing live on USA Network at 8 p.m. Eastern time and the second hour will be live on WWE Network at 9 p.m. Eastern. NXT will then begin airing live on USA for the full two hours on October 2.
Dijakovic defeated Lee when they faced off on the NXT episode that aired on August 28. They also went to a double countout in a match that aired on NXT TV this February.
Before signing with WWE, Dijakovic (as Donovan Dijak) and Lee had an acclaimed series of matches on the indies.
Dakota Kai returning to action is also set for next week’s NXT. She’s been out of action since tearing her ACL in December 2018.
An NXT UK vs. NXT tag match has been added to PROGRESS Wrestling’s show at Alexandra Palace next month.
WWE announced today that Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) will face Matt Riddle & Keith Lee at PROGRESS Chapter 95: Still Chasing. The show is taking place at Alexandra Palace in London, England on Sunday, September 15.
Bate & Seven are former PROGRESS Tag Team Champions.
Riddle and Seven both previously held the Atlas Championship. The Atlas title was unified with the PROGRESS World Championship when WALTER defeated Seven this May.
PROGRESS’ first show at Alexandra Palace — called Chase the Sun — was held in 2017.
WALTER will defend the PROGRESS Unified World Championship against David Starr at Still Chasing. Meiko Satomura will challenge for the PROGRESS Women’s Championship, which is currently held by Jordynne Grace. There will also be a rumble match to crown the first Proteus Champion. The Proteus Champion will be able to pick the rules for their title defenses.
Pete Dunne makes his return to PROGRESS at Still Chasing. The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) will also defend their PROGRESS Tag Team titles.
Here are some notes from tonight’s NXT TakeOver XXV, which took place at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
A short vignette aired during the program highlighting Damian Priest’s incoming arrival to NXT television. Formerly Punishment Martinez in ROH, Priest has been working NXT events since last November, when he was signed to a deal. There’s no word of when he’ll be making his debut.
Two matches were taped tonight before TakeOver started. These will likely air on next week’s episode of NXT:
Keith Lee defeated Kona Reeves with the ground zero. Lee was said to have gotten a major reaction from the crowd.
Mia Yim defeated Bianca Belair via a rope assisted protect ya neck. Match was said to be longer than the previous bout, but not as heated.
NXT’s next TakeOver event will take place the day before SummerSlam on August 10. Their next television tapings will take place on June 12.
The crowd enjoyed this unique matchup. Hardie won with a bridging suplex.
– Taynara Conti defeated Rachel Evers
Conti showed a lot of personality to instigate some aggression out of Evers. They had the crowd into their match, which ended with Conti using a judo throw to win.
– Dominik Dijakovic defeated Kona Reeves
Dijakovic hit Feast Your Eyes to get the win.
– An air guitar session by Eric Bugenhagen was interrupted by Court Moore as a distraction for Jermaine Haley to destroy Bugenhagen. Moore then mocked Bugenhagen before leaving.
– Brennan Williams defeated Brendan Vink
Decisive victory by Williams
– Shane Thorne defeated Denzel Dejournette
Thorne won by submission.
– The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler w/ Jaxson Ryker) defeated Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
A powerbomb onto the knees followed by the double team hold-up stomp got the Sons the victory.
– Io Shirai defeated Deonna Purrazzo
This was a treat. Purrazzo kept going for the armbar and Shirai would escape to hit her own explosive moves, including the 619 and a springboard dropkick. Shirai won with a Lion Tamer-style submission hold of her own.
– Keith Lee, KUSHIDA & Babatunde Aiyegbusi defeated The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong)
This was Lee’s first match since returning from injury. He was advertised for matches against Dijakovic at the last two sets of tapings, but neither match ended up happening.
Excellent action throughout with Undisputed Era working over KUSHIDA and suffering the wrath of Lee and Babatunde when they were in the ring. KUSHIDA showed his resilience by hitting O’Reilly with his Nomo punch, a springboard back elbow, and using the Hoverboard Lock to get the submission.
WWE has announced matches for the next two weeks of NXT television.
On last night’s episode, it was revealed that The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) vs. Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner and Candice LeRae vs. Aliyah will air next Wednesday (April 10). Keith Lee vs. Dominik Dijakovic will air on April 17.
The Street Profits vs. Barthel & Aichner and LeRae vs. Aliyah will presumably be taped at the Barclays Center before TakeOver: New York tomorrow, while Lee vs. Dijakovic should be filmed at NXT’s TV tapings at Full Sail University next Wednesday.
Aliyah and Vanessa Borne interrupted LeRae during an interview on last night’s episode. LeRae was asked about Johnny Gargano’s NXT Championship match against Adam Cole at TakeOver and discussed her own goal of becoming NXT Women’s Champion.
Lee and Dijakovic went to a double countout on the February 27 episode of NXT. They were supposed to have a rematch at March’s TV tapings, but the match didn’t end up happening. Dave Meltzer reported that Lee had an injury that wasn’t thought to be serious and wasn’t expected to keep him out for too long.
– Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch defeated Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight)
This was a fairly wrestled contest with a show of respect after the match. Lorcan rolled through for a pin.
– Punishment Martinez defeated Rick Boog
Martinez won with the South of Heaven chokeslam.
– MJ Jenkins defeated Aliyah
Jenkins hit the Widow’s Peak to win.
– Jaxson Ryker defeated Brennan Williams
A spinebuster got the win for Ryker.
– Chelsea Green & Lacey Lane defeated Reina Gonzalez & Vanessa Borne
Green got the win for her team with the Unprettier.
– Matt Riddle defeated Keith Lee
A Florida loop match of the year contender. It was 10 minutes of excellent wrestling. Lee hit a pounce, Riddle used a delayed German suplex, and there were loud chops by both. Everything was physical and looked great. This matchup will deliver on a larger stage.
The match ended with a flurry finish that saw both men collapse with Riddle on top. They embraced after.
– NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler & Jessamyn Duke defeated Mia Yim & Kairi Sane
Great action here with Baszler catching Yim in the clutch for the submission. The progression of Duke has been evident in the last few weeks — the other three wrestlers in the match were clearly more experienced but she held her own.
– Aleister Black defeated Riddick Moss
Before the match, Moss talked up “The Riddick Regiment” as how he recovered from his injuries so fast and said it’s how he lives his life.
Black hit the Black Mass for the finish. He thanked us for supporting him and NXT to close out 2018 on the Florida loop.
– MJ Jenkins defeated Deonna Purrazzo with a Gory Special
– Brennan Williams defeated Luke Menzies after a big side slam
– Wesley Blake defeated Denzel
The newcomer Denzel won the crowd over by repeatedly scoop slamming Blake but was put down by a big lariat.
– Aliyah and Reina Gonzalez defeated Jessie and Chelsea Green
– Keith Lee defeated Punishment Martinez
This was a good match that had plenty of time. There was impressive action by the two big men, a flying kick off the top by Martinez, and a huge power bomb by Lee to finish it off
– Street Profits defeated The Forgotten Sons
Ford hit a big frog splash to win for the Profits who the crowd loved tonight.
– Lacey Evans defeated Mia Yim and Io Shirai in a triple threat
Evans hit a Woman’s Right on Yim after she first pulled Shirai out of the ring
– The War Raiders defeated Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch
This was a physical match with the Radiers using the battering ram in the corner to win. The two teams showed respect post match.
This was two big men going at it. A dive over the top by Martinez got a “holy sh*t” chant, but the power of Babatunde was just too much.
– Keith Lee defeated Dominik Dijakovic
Excellent match. These two are great together and always deliver. Lee hit a pounce on Dijakovic that sent him over the top rope, Dijakovic hit a cyclone kick on Lee, and Lee won with the Super Nova.
– Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight) defeated The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly)
Heavy Machinery hit the Trash Compactor for the win and celebrated with the crowd to end the weekend on the Florida loop.
