Jaxson Ryker emerged during tonight’s WWE Main Event tapings, aligning himself with Elias.
A tweet shortly before Raw started showed Elias and Ryker together during tonight’s Main Event tapings. According to a report on Fightful Select, Ryker’s appearance on Main Event is seen as a ‘dry run’ in order to see if the pairing worked.
Ryker had not been seen on television since May. After he and the rest of the Forgotten Sons debuted following WrestleMania 36, they were taken off television after Ryker voiced support for President Donald Trump on social media during the George Floyd protests earlier this year, which led to several upset people in WWE to respond.
Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake, who were also taken off television, were brought back this past Friday on SmackDown. They helped King Corbin even the odds against Murphy and the Mysterio family, helping Corbin score a win over Murphy on the show.
Four teams will be facing off for the SmackDown Tag Team titles at Money in the Bank.
WWE announced today that SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day are defending their titles against The Forgotten Sons, The Lucha House Party, and The Miz & John Morrison in a fatal four-way match at Money in the Bank. The pay-per-view is set for Sunday, May 10.
On SmackDown last night, The Forgotten Sons defeated The New Day in a non-title match. Miz & Morrison were on commentary during it.
There was a segment on SmackDown last week where The Lucha House Party, Miz & Morrison, and The Forgotten Sons all interrupted The New Day. It led to The Forgotten Sons starting a brawl and attacking New Day and Lucha House Party while Miz & Morrison bailed.
Lucha House Party also defeated Miz & Morrison last week.
Here’s the updated card for Money in the Bank (WWE has confirmed that both MITB ladder matches are taking place at the same time):
Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match (Shayna Baszler, Asuka, Nia Jax, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, and Carmella)
Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match (Aleister Black, Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan, Baron Corbin, Otis, and the winner of a last chance gauntlet match that’s airing on Monday’s Raw)
WWE Champion Drew McIntyre defending against Seth Rollins
Universal Champion Braun Strowman defending against Bray Wyatt
SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley defending against Tamina
SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day defending against The Forgotten Sons, The Lucha House Party, and The Miz & John Morrison in a fatal four-way match
A non-title tag team match has been added to the lineup for this Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day will face off with two members of The Forgotten Sons in non-title action on the show. The match was set up by The Forgotten Sons attacking New Day on the latest episode of SmackDown.
Kofi Kingston and Big E were interrupted by The Lucha House Party, The Miz and John Morrison, and The Forgotten Sons in the opening segment of SmackDown this past Friday. The Forgotten Sons started a brawl and attacked New Day and Lucha House Party as Miz and Morrison bailed.
Later in the show, Lucha House Party defeated Miz and Morrison in a tag team match.
The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler, and Jaxson Ryker) were called up to SmackDown on the post-WrestleMania 36 edition of the show. Blake and Cutler defeated Lucha House Party that night.
New Day’s latest reign as tag team champions began when Big E defeated The Miz and Jey Uso in a triple threat match on the April 17 episode of SmackDown.
This Friday’s SmackDown will feature Mandy Rose vs. Carmella and Otis vs. Dolph Ziggler in Money in the Bank qualifying matches. Daniel Bryan vs. Baron Corbin is also set for the show. Bryan and Corbin have both already qualified for this year’s Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
The Forgotten Sons have been called up to the main roster.
They made their first appearance on SmackDown tonight, facing Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado of The Lucha House Party. After a back and forth match, Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler picked up the win for the trio, with Cutler pinning Gran Metalik.
Blake and Cutler, along with Jaxson Ryker, were put together as a trio and made their NXT debut as The Forgotten Sons back in August 2018. They made it to the finals of the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but lost to Aleister Black and Ricochet in the finals. At this year’s tournament, they lost to Imperium in the first round.
Ryker, who signed with the WWE in 2017, is most famous for his run in Impact Wrestling as Gunner. Blake, who joined WWE in 2014, is a former NXT Tag Team champion with Buddy Murphy. Cutler also signed with the WWE in 2014.
The 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will kick off on Wednesday’s episode of NXT.
WWE has announced that a first-round match between Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) and The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler) will take place on Wednesday’s NXT. The match is part of the left side of the bracket for the tournament.
Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne vs. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster is the other match on the left side of the bracket. The right side has The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) vs. Kushida’s team (partner yet to be revealed) and The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish) vs. Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang).
There are four teams from NXT and four teams from NXT UK in the Dusty Classic.
Keith Lee vs. Dominik Dijakovic vs. Damian Priest vs. Cameron Grimes is also set for Wednesday’s NXT. The winner will become the number one contender to Roderick Strong’s NXT North American Championship.
Miles, who is an Army veteran and former University of Maryland football player, was making his NXT debut here and cut a promo before the match. Grimes won quickly with a double stomp.
– Bronson Reed defeated Austin Theory
This was also Theory’s NXT debut. He took the mic before the match and ran down the previous match and Miles for not getting the job done.
They had a good back-and-forth match with some impressive moments by both. Theory hit a great dropkick and standing moonsault. Reed hit his big splash from the top to win it.
– The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) defeated The Outliers (Dorian Mak & Riddick Moss) w/ Robert Stone
– Matt Riddle defeated Jeet Rama
They threw each other around until Riddle hit the Bro Derek to win it.
– Kassius Ohno defeated Danny Burch in a British Rounds match
This was the first British Rounds match in NXT US history.
Ohno explained the rules and they had the basketball scoreboard active for this. We had six rounds that were three minutes each. There was a 30-second break between each round. To win the match, a wrestler must earn two pinfalls or two submissions (or one of each) or win via knockout. If none of that happens after six rounds, the wrestler with the most falls is the winner.
It went to the sixth round before Ohno scored the win. A very unique match for the Florida loop that did have a lot of action along with the suspense.
– Io Shirai defeated Mia Yim
Physical match that will translate well to TV when these two go at it again. They each escaped the other’s finishers, then Shirai was able to score a pin deep in the match.
– Imperium (WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER, Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) defeated The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler & Jackson Ryker)
Great physical and violent action here, with it building to WALTER facing off with Ryker. It was teased early but didn’t happen until the end when they exchanged big strikes and moves. WALTER destroyed Blake with a powerbomb to get the pin. This was a special one.
Prior to TakeOver: Toronto, two matches were taped at the Scotiabank Arena for this coming Wednesday’s episode of NXT television.
– Breezango (Tyler Breeze & Fandango) defeated The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler w/ Jaxson Ryker)
This match was set up when Fandango returned and saved Breeze from The Forgotten Sons on the NXT TV episode that aired on July 31.
– Jordan Myles (formerly known as ACH) defeated Cameron Grimes (Trevor Lee) in the finals of the Breakout Tournament
As a stipulation of winning the tournament, Myles will get a future shot at the NXT title of his choosing. William Regal came out to the stage after the match and congratulated him.
Myles had defeated Boa and Angel Garza (Garza Jr.) in the first two rounds of the tournament. Grimes defeated Isaiah “Swerve” Scott (Shane Strickland) and Bronson Reed (Jonah Rock).
The next set of NXT tapings will take place at Full Sail University on Thursday (August 15).
Two matches have been announced for next week’s NXT television.
The finals of the Breakout Tournament will air on next Wednesday’s episode, with Jordan Myles (formerly known as ACH) facing off with Cameron Grimes (Trevor Lee). The winner will get a shot at the NXT title of their choosing.
Myles defeated Boa and Angel Garza (Garza Jr.) in the tournament, while Grimes defeated Isaiah “Swerve” Scott (Shane Strickland) and Bronson Reed (Jonah Rock).
A two-on-two tag match between Tyler Breeze & Fandango and The Forgotten Sons is also set for next week’s NXT episode. Fandango’s return aired on last week’s show, with him saving Breeze from The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler & Jaxson Ryker).
Both matches will be taped at the Scotiabank Arena prior to TakeOver: Toronto this Saturday. Here’s the card for TakeOver:
NXT Champion Adam Cole defending against Johnny Gargano in a two-out-of-three falls match (one fall will be a street fight, the other will be a normal wrestling match, and William Regal will pick the stipulation if it goes to a third fall)
NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler defending against Mia Yim
NXT North American Champion Velveteen Dream defending against Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne in a triple threat match
NXT Tag Team Champions The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) defending against The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish)
The next NXT Tag Team Champions will be crowned in a ladder match at TakeOver XXV.
William Regal announced on tonight’s episode of NXT that Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch, The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish), The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford), and The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler) will face off in a ladder match for the vacant titles at TakeOver XXV. The special is taking place at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Saturday, June 1.
The match was first announced at this month’s NXT television tapings, though the ladder stipulation wasn’t confirmed until now.
The NXT Tag Team titles were vacated after The Viking Raiders were called up to Raw in this year’s Superstar Shake-up.
On the NXT TV episode that aired last week, The Viking Raiders bowed to the fans and left the titles in the ring. That came after their title defense against The Street Profits ended in a no contest when The Forgotten Sons got involved and started a brawl, which also included Lorcan & Burch.
Velveteen Dream defending his North American Championship against Tyler Breeze was also announced for TakeOver XXV tonight, along with a singles match between Matt Riddle and Roderick Strong. NXT Champion Johnny Gargano will defend his title against Adam Cole at the special, and Io Shirai will challenge for Shayna Baszler’s Women’s Championship.
Good match here. Martinez has been consistent since arriving and Williams has all the tools. Martinez hit a spinning kick followed by a layout slam to win.
– Deonna Purrazzo defeated Chelsea Green
Purrazzo has a new look with silver hair. A pendulum snap suplex got her the win.
– Adrian Jaoude (w/ Cezar Bononi) defeated Eric Bugenhagen
A distraction by Bononi allowed Jaoude to roll Bugenhagen up.
– Kassius Ohno defeated Denzel Dejournette
Decisive victory with the elbow. After the match, Bugenhagen made the save to protect Dejournette from any further damage.
The crowd was all over Barthel and Aichner, chanting “chicken” at them. The fans were thoroughly behind Lorcan and Burch. Lorcan and Burch hit atomic and inverted atomic drops on both men at one point.
A double-team team spike DDT got Lorcan and Burch the win.
Hot tag to Yim who cleaned up and won with the Protect Ya Neck
– Matt Riddle defeated Babatunde
The giant had his way with Riddle early on, but Riddle was able to counter the side slam into a pair of flying knees and use the Bromission to make Babatunde tap out.
– NXT Tag Team Champions War Raiders & Aleister Black defeated The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler & Jaxson Ryker)
Great finish to this one as Black hit a doomsday meteora.
– Dominik Dijakovic defeated Mansoor Al-Shehail with Feast Your Eyes
– Chelsea Green defeated Jessie Elaban after hitting an Unprettier
– Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel defeated Jeet Rama & Rinku Singh after a second rope uppercut into powerbomb combo
– Luke Menzies did an interview complaining about not having a match tonight. He was interrupted by Eric Bugenhagen, which led to them having a fight and Bugenhagen rocking out.
– Punishment Martinez defeated Brennan Williams with a Scorpion Death Drop
– Mia Yim & Keith Lee defeated Kona Reeves and Vanessa Borne when Lee powerbomb Yim onto Reeves
– Johnny Gargano defeated Humberto Carrillo with a springboard DDT
– Candice LeRae defeated Deonna Purrazzo with a lionsault
– Bugenhagen did an encore performance.
– The Street Profits & Ricochet defeated The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler & Jaxson Ryker) after Dawkins hit a spear on Blake
