UFC on ESPN+ 89 live results: Jailton Almeida vs. Derrick Lewis

The Octagon heads back to Brazil, returning to Sao Paulo for the first time in four years, for UFC On ESPN+ 89: Almeida vs. Lewis from the Ginasio do Ibirapuera.

The main event will be a heavyweight slugfest as rising contender Jailton Almeida battles former title challenger Derrick Lewis. Almeida is looking to remain undefeated under the UFC banner as he was won his first five outings. Lewis is taking this fight on short notice as a replacement for Curtis Blaydes, the first fight under his newly-signed UFC contract, as he looks to notch his second straight win.

In the welterweight co-main event, undefeated Gabriel Bonfim meets Nicolas Dalby as Bonfim looks for his 16th straight win, while Dalby is looking for his fourth straight. Also on the main card is a pair of middleweight bouts as Caio Borralho battles Abus Magomedov, and Rodolfo Vieira takes on Armen Petrosyan.

> Lightweights- Kaue Fernandes (8-1, 0-0 UFC) vs. Marc Diakiese (16-7, 7-7 UFC)

Fernandes lands a high kick. He lands some more kicks before they clinch against the fence. Diakiese is able to get a takedown and is working from the top and landing. Fernandes goes for an armlock from the bottom and it allows them to get to their feet. They briefly clinch before separating. Diakiese tries a spin kick but it allows Fernandes to get him down, but Diakiese scrambles to the top. He isn’t doing much from the top but he’s keeping Fernandes pinned on the mat. Diakiese lands a nice left hand from the top. 10-9 Diakiese.

Fernandes lands a body kick. He lands another. Diakiese comes in looking for a takedown but Fernandes defending against the fence. Fernandes reverses and they separate. Diakiese lands a left hook. Fernandes lands a calf kick. Diakiese is able to get a takedown. He’s working from the top and is landing and remains there as the round ends. 10-9 Diakiese, 20-18 Diakiese.

Fernandes lands a leg kick. Diakiese lands a right hand and then a left hand that makes Fernandes stumble. Fernandes recovers and lands a leg kick. Diakiese tries to get it down but Fernandes defends against the fence. They separate. Diakiese lands a right hand. Diakiese gets a takedown. He’s landing from the top. He’s still working from the top and remaining active enough to keep it down as he’s landing. Fernandes is showing good ground defense but can’t get out from the bottom. *Moura missed weight by 3.5 pounds

Conejo lands some early leg kicks. Moura tries a takedown but Conejo defends, though Moura sweeps to end up on top. Moura controlling from the top but not doing a lot of damage. Moura now landing some right hands and gets the mount where she’s landing lots of punches. Moura with big right hands from the top. Moura is looking for an arm but lets go and lands more right hands. Conejo gives up her back for a moment and Moura threatened with a choke but ends back up in mount. They scramble but Moura keeps it down and is in side control. Moura gets the mount back and is landing. She gets the back and continues to land as a dominant round ends. 10-8 Moura.

Moura lands some big punches and a knee to start the second. Moura lands a right hand. Moura gets it down and is landing big punches from the top. She continues to land big punches from the top until it is stopped. This was an absolute mauling by Moura.

Hill lands a right hand and Gomes stumbled to the mat. Hill grabs the neck and they get to their feet and clinch. Hill lands a knee as they switch positions and switch back. Gomes tried to pull guard but Hill is on top and has neck control. Hill takes the back and lands a left hand as they stand. They separate. Gomes lands a front kick and they trade before clinching. Gomes gets a pair of takedowns that Hill quickly gets up from. Gomes lands some heavy punches including a right hand. They clinch and trade knees. They separate and Gomes lands a body kick. Gomes lands a right hand. They go to the mat and Gomes is looking for an armbar. Gomes lands some hammerfists. Hill escapes. Hill is on top but Gomes lands some right hands from the bottom. 10-9 Gomes.

They trade right hands early to start the second. Gomes lands a leg kick then a right hand. Hill lands a combination. Gomes tries to land the right hand but Hill ducks. Gomes is looking a little tired. Hill lands a right hand. Gomes lands an uppercut to the body. Hill lands a jab. Hill lands a spinning elbow. Gomes keeps pressing forward. They trade kicks. Gomes comes out blitzing and landing. They trade and Gomes lands a nice right hook. Hill grabs the back and pushes it against the fence where she gets a takedown. They get to their feet. Hill lands an elbow in the clinch. Hill lands a lot of knees in the clinch. Gomes lands some before they separate. Hill is able to get it back to the ground. Hill lands an elbow from the top. Hill has the back and is landing punches. She gets the back mount and flattens Gomes out. She tried something and they ended up on the feet. Hill lands a knee. 10-9 Hill, 29-28 Hill.

Bukauskas lands a leg kick. Petrino lands a jab. He lands another and Bukauskas lands a leg kick. Petrino lands a body kick. Petrino lands another stiff jab. Petrino gets a takedown but Bukauskas gets right up. Petrino then picks Bukauskas up and slams him down. Petrino is in the guard of Bukauskas but there isn’t a lot of action going on. Petrino lands a right hand from the top. 10-9 Petrino.

Petrino lands a jab. Bukauskas lands a left hook. Petrino lands a left hook as Bukauskas throws a left hand and it connects and Bukauskas goes down and is out and it’s all over. What a finish from Petrino!

Brener landing some leg kicks early on. Kruschewsky lands a combo and they trade in a wild exchange. Brener lands a left hook. Brener lands another combo. Brener lands a leg kick then another. Brener then lands a right hand then an overhand left and Kruschewsky immediately face plants to the mat and is out cold. What a knockout from Brener!

Welcome to F4WOnline.com’s live coverage of UFC On ABC 4: Rozenstruik vs. Almeida, emanating from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Octagon is back in Charlotte and back on network television for an afternoon event, featuring a heavyweight main event and a solid card overall.

Heavyweights Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Jailton Almeida square off in the five-round headline bout. Rozenstruik, one of the big knockout artists in the division, is looking for his second straight win. Almeida, one of the biggest prospects in the sport, is looking to climb the rankings as he sports a 13-fight win streak.

In the co-main event, former light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith returns to action for the first time since July, looking to get back into the win column, as he battles Johnny Walker, winner of two straight fights.

Also on the main card: welterweights Daniel Rodriguez and Ian Garry battle, a light heavyweight bout between Carlos Ulberg and Ihor Potieria, and a welterweight clash of veterans pitting Tim Means against Alex Morono.

Clark working hard for the takedown against the fence. They’re battling against the fence. Lisboa is landing some knees as Clark is trying for the takedown, but Lisboa ends up getting the takedown. They scramble to their feet and Clark has the leg and looks for the takedown as they scramble down. Lisboa gets the back and has a rear-naked choke locked in and Clark taps! Big late finish from Lisboa to get the win.

Green throwing punches and landing kicks right away. Battle then lands a right hand against the fence that drops Green and he was out cold as it is stopped. What a crazy sequence and what a finish from Battle!

> Women’s Flyweights- Ji Yeon Kim (9-6-2, 3-6 UFC) vs. Mandy Bohm (7-2 1 NC, 0-2 UFC)

Kim rocks Bohm right away with a right hand and looks to capitalize but didn’t see it and Bohm got a takedown. Bohm gets the back and looks for a rear-naked choke. It’s at a bad angle right now. Kim escapes and is now inside the guard of Bohm. Bohm was looking for a triangle choke but Kim escapes and lands. Kim now gets the back of Bohm. Kim is looking to lock in a rear-naked choke but doesn’t quite have the correct position. Bohm is able to circle and escape and is now on top. Bohm is in side control and lands a couple of elbows. Close round. 10-9 Kim.

They trade to start the second before clinching against the fence. Kim gets a takedown and is working inside the guard of Bohm but not a whole lot is happening. They get to their feet. Bohm lands a right hand but Kim counters with a right hand. Both are landing at a distance. Bohm scores a takedown. Kim is looking for a guillotine choke. Bohm makes it to the end of the round. 10-9 Kim, 20-18 Kim.

Kim gets a point taken away from her as she kicked Bohm in the chest several seconds after the horn ended for the second round. They clinch right away and pushes it against the fence. Kim grabs the back and Bohm is posting with her hand. Kim with some knees to the legs of Bohm. Kim lands a knee to the head as Bohm was a grounded opponent and we have a timeout. Bohm is saying she can’t continue. The fight is stopped as Bohm can’t continue and now we wait on the official word. Kim had another point taken away after the fight was stopped, so it looks like this goes to the scorecards. 9-8 Bohm, 28-27 Kim.

Andrade lands a leg kick. He throws a body kick but Stamann blocks it. Andrade lands a body shot. Stamann looks for a takedown but Andrade easily avoids. Stamann is pressing forward but missing his punches and Andrade is continuing to land leg kicks. Stamann is able to score a takedown and Andrade lands an illegal upkick and we have a timeout. They get back to action and were supposed to be put back on the ground but are standing. They trade and Stamann lands a jab. Stamann lands a body kick. They trade big punches. Andrade lands a spinning back fist. Andrade lands to the body. 10-9 Andrade.

Stamann lands a combo to start the second. Andrade lands a body kick and Stamann lands a leg kick. Andrade lands a left hook. They’re trading and Stamann is looking for the takedown but Andrade is defending. Stamann lands a left hand. Silva lands a leg kick. Andrade lands a leg kick then a high kick.
