Impact Wrestling live results: Kenny Omega championship celebration

Preview by Josh Nason

Kenny Omega’s life of self-celebration will continue this Thursday on Impact Wrestling as the AEW World Champion will recognize his title victory over Impact World Champion Rich Swann at Rebellion with an in-ring celebration.

Former X-Division Champion Ace Austin will get a rematch against new champion Josh Alexander. Alexander won the title Sunday in a three-way featuring Austin and TJP.

The show will also feature the return of Taylor Wilde after more than a decade out of the promotion as she faces Kimber Lee. Wilde ran off Lee, Susan, and Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo following Purrazzo’s Sunday win over Tenille Dashwood after the trio beat down the challenger.

Additionally, W. Morrissey (the former Big Cass) will make his TV debut for the company after making a surprise debut Sunday as part of Violent By Design. Also coming out of that match is James Storm vs. Deaner which will be on the BTI pre-show.

Our live coverage begins at 8 PM Eastern.

* * * * * * * * * *

— James Storm (with Chris Sabin) defeated Deaner (with VBD) on the BTI pre-show

The show opened with the Impact roster wanting answers from Scott D’Amore about who was going to challenge Kenny Omega for the title. D’Amore said he’d address this situation in the ring. Out came Don Callis who told D’Amore that Omega wasn’t in the building but would make a Zoom appearance. D’Amore got angry and told Callis that if Omega doesn’t adhere to the contract and is not present tonight, he’d be stripped of the title and suspended. Callis said he’d take care of it.

Over in the ring, D’Amore announced that Rich Swann lost in a one time match that had no rematch clause so he wasn’t getting a title rematch. Instead, there will be a series of qualifiers leading to Under Siege where the winners will face off in a six-way match with the winner becoming the no. 1 contender. If Omega doesn’t make it to the arena by the end of the show tonight, that 6-way match at Under Siege will be for the vacant Impact World title.

D’Amore then booked the first match on the spot.

Chris Bey defeated Jake Something in an Under Siege no. 1 contender six-way qualifier

This was a speed vs. power match. It started with Bey controlling the action, but it wasn’t long before it became a back-and-forth affair. Something got some near falls, but at the end, for no reason whatsoever, Rohit Raju grabbed on Something’s leg to distract him which allowed Bey to dropkick him into the corner and schoolboy him with his feet on the ropes to win.

— Backstage, Callis talked with Omega on the phone and told him to take the jet back to Impact. Then walked up Sami Callihan who told Callis that if Omega showed up, he was targeting him and reclaiming the title.

— Gia Miller interviewed Taylor Wilde about having her first match in more than a decade. She said she was happy and ready, but Tenille Dashwood interrupted her about being her partner. Wilde rejected her, saying she was here for the title.

W. Morrissey defeated Sam Beale

Morrissey cut a promo before his match, saying that the wrestling business is full of bad people and he’s not afraid to accept he is one of them. This was a squash as Beale didn’t get a single shot in before Morrissey won with a power bomb.

— Miller interviewed Kimber Lee, Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo and Susan about Wilde making her return to Impact. Lee said that tonight, Wilde would make her return and she would beat her. Purrazzo told Lee she was taking the night off and that Lee and Susan could take care of Wilde alone. Miller asked Purrazzo why she wasn’t going to be out there. The champion lashed back, saying she wasn’t running away from Wilde. Before she left, Havok walked up and got in Purrazzo’s face but didn’t say anything.

— Miller interviewed Wilie Mack about being pinned by Morrisey at Rebellion. Mack said he doesn’t understand what Morrissey’s problem with him is, but if he wants to fight, he’d be happy to. He challenged him to a match at Under Siege.

Taylor Wilde defeated Kimber Lee (w/ Susan)

Wilde made her big return to the promotion at Rebellion, saving Dashwood from a 3-on-1 beatdown at the hands of Purrazzo, Lee, and Susan. Lee started the match by catching Wilde by surprise with a shotgun dropkick, quickly gaining control of the match. After a couple of minutes, Wilde recovered and made a short comeback/ Wilde was running…wild, but as she went for a sharpshooter, Lee managed to block her, take her down, and start working on her knee.

After a couple of minutes getting heat, Lee started getting cocky and got into a striking exchange that she ended up losing. Lee regained control, but when she went for a top rope senton, Wilde dodged, hit a codebreaker and locked in an Indian deathlock for the submission win. This wasn’t a great return for Wilde who took way too much offense. The match was ok at best.

After the match, Susan attacked Wilde, but Dashwood made the save. Wilde said that she didn’t need the help.

X-Division Champion Josh Alexander defeated Ace Austin (w/ Madman Fulton) to retain

Alexander won the title at Rebellion after pinning Austin in a match that also included TJP. Austin activated his rematch clause.

Alexander started the match dominantly with a combination of mat work and striking. He quickly took Austin down and kept him at bay. Austin had to rely on his speed to start dodging Alexander and manage to take out his leg. With Alexander down, Austin started going after his back and neck. As soon as Alexander got to his feet, he slowly made a comeback, ending with a desperation chaos theory that rocked Austin.

Alexander and Austin traded strikes while the former started chasing the ankle lock (Divine Intervention). Austin got a great near fall after knocking out Alexander with a kick, but Alexander still came back and got into a fight with Austin on the apron where he dropped Austin and dodged a Fulton attack.

The finish saw Austin with a flurry of offense, almost killing himself with a moonsault. When he went for Divine Intervention, Alexander blocked him, hit a senton bomb on the back, locked in an ankle lock, and tapped out Austin. This was an awesome match.

Matt Striker and D-Lo Brown sold that there is international talent coming for Alexander, so we’ll see who he gets later.

— Callis was approached by Johnny Swinger and Hernandez. They owe money to Callis for the Swann vs. Omega bet, but if Swinger could get him a driver to pick up Omega, the debt was paid. Callis putting his faith on Swinger is gonna be golden.

— Miller interviewed Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering about winning the Knockouts Tag Team titles. Grace said that Ellering was the missing piece for her to win the titles. They kept putting each other over, but Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz interrupted them and said Ellering is the real star. They had defeated Grace many times, but Ellering could have won that match by herself. Hogan and Steelz claimed their rematch clause at Under Siege.

Matt Cardona defeated Brian Myers in an Under Siege no. 1 contender six-way qualifier

Myers defeated Cardona at Rebellion after taking advantage of Cardona’s injured knee on a failed Radio Silence. Cardona had his knee heavily bandaged.

The match started with Cardona trying to get the jump on Myers with a dive, but once in the ring, Myers kicked Cardona’s knee and immediately took him down. Myers completely focused on the knee.

Cardona had some hope spots fighting through the pain, but Myers easily got the advantange by kicking the knee again and regaining control. Myers started going for pins, but couldn’t keep Cardona down. At the end, Myers went for the Roster Cut, but Cardona caught him with a Radio Silence out of nowhere for the win. This was a good match, but I wasn’t a big fan of the one move win.

Cardona advances to the Under Siege no. 1 contender six-way, along with Bey.

— Eric Young, along with VBD, cut a promo about Deaner losing to James Storm but he had also lost to Storm before. He said that disappointment can be used to elicit rage and violence, and so next week, it’s Rhino’s turn to win and represent VBD at Under Siege.

— We got a vignette for NJPW’s El Phantasmo, coming to Impact next week.

— Brown and Striker ran down some of the matches for next week including the other Under Siege qualifiers: Rohit Raju vs. Trey Miguel, Rhino vs. Chris Sabin, and Moose vs. James Storm.

— As of this point, Kenny Omega hasn’t made it to the arena and is minutes away from being stripped of the title — brought up by commentary every ten minutes.

Eddie Edwards defeated Sami Callihan by DQ in an Under Siege no. 1 contender six-way qualifier*

Callihan lost his last man standing match against Miguel at Rebellion and still managed to make it into the qualifier. Edwards, while not directly taking the loss, also lost at Rebellion against VBD. The argument for including them is that they’re former Impact World champions.

This was a good basic match. They have had so many with all types of stipulations that seeing them just having a normal singles match at this point felt different.

Edwards took control early, but Callihan cut him off and worked over Edwards’ head, chasing the package piledriver. Edwards made a comeback with a desperation stunner and a top rope rana.

Edwards got a near fall with a blue thunder bomb, but suddenly, right before time ran out, Omega and the Good Brothers ran out to attack both men, hitting Callihan first. They also took down Edwards with a Magic Killer and prepared to hit a V-Trigger on Callihan, but Tag Team Champions FinJuice made the save. However, Juice Robinson and Dave Finlay also got taken out by the numbers game. Callis said that if they wanted the champion, they had him, taking everyone out.

*While they didn’t announce a winner on the show, they announced on social media afterward that Callihan won by DQ.

Impact Wrestling live results: Omega & Good Brothers in trios action

Preview by Josh Nason

Impact Wrestling kicks off their Thursday night era on AXS TV with the in-ring TV debut of AEW World Champion Kenny Omega.

As has been the case in recent weeks on Dynamite, Omega will be in trios action, teaming with The Good Brothers to take on Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Willie Mack, and Eddie Edwards. Omega and Swann will battle in a title vs. title match later this month at Rebellion.

In another trios match, Jordynne Grace, Havok, and Rosemary will face Tenille Dashwood, Alisha, and Nevaeh in a preview of this Saturday’s Knockouts title no. 1 contender’s weapons match at Hardcore Justice. Havok and Nevaeh just broke up their team, adding intrigue to this one.

The show will also feature XXXL vs. Sami Callihan in a handicap match and Chris Sabin vs. Deaner while the BTI pre-show featured Jazz vs. Susan.

Our live coverage kicks off at 8 PM Eastern.

* * * * * * * * * *

Jazz defeated Susan (with Deonna Purrazzo) on BTI

* * * * * * * * * *

The opening video focused on James Storm’s 1000th match on Impact Wrestling last week where he defeated Eric Young. Also, last week’s brawl with Omega and the Good Brothers vs Swann, Mack and Edwards that set up tonight’s main event.

Rosemary (w/ Decay), Jordynne Grace and Havok defeated Tenille Dashwood (w/ Kaleb with a K), Nevaeh and Alisha

Five of these six women (plus Susan) will be wrestling in a weapons match at Hardcore Justice for the chance to challenge the winner of Jazz vs. Deonna Purrazzo at Rebellion. Last week, Nevaeh finally turned on her long time partner Havok after losing yet another match to Knockouts Tag Team Champions Fire ‘n Flava.

It started with a series of pair-ups. Grace was cut off from her corner for a couple of minutes by Dashwood only to escape the corner and tag in Rosemary for the hot tag, ending with her pinning Alisha with the red wedding. They’re building Rosemary as the strongest competitor going in and how she’ll benefit the most from using weapons.

At the end, Havok and Nevaeh did brawl with each other and both of them ended up going through the table outside the ring.

They told the story that Rosemary is a bit too excited about the weapons factor at Hardcore Justice and so she was too eager to use a table tonight. They also added some fire between Havok and Nevaeh after their break up. Additionally, Havok was also after Dashwood as the latter has been trying to break up Havok and Nevaeh for months.

— Gia Miller interviewed Matt Cardona about Brian Myers rejecting his challenge for a match. Cardona said he didn’t want to fight him either way. He wanted to wrestle all the other wrestlers so he could prove himself. He was happy that Scott D’Amore gave him Jake Something tonight, but he won’t allow for Something to make a name by defeating Cardona.

– We got a new vignette for Taylor Wilde’s return.

– Backstage, Deonna Purrazzo was helping out Susan, who had been knocked out in the BTI match. The head injury seemed to be bringing some of Su Yung out.

Matt Cardona vs Jake Something ended in a no contest

Cardona had made a challenge to Myers for a match, but after Myers rejected the idea, D’Amore gave Cardona a match with Jake Something.

This was a short fun match with both men being babyfaces. The match was mostly back and forth action. Something had a short run controlling things before Cardona made a comeback. At one point, Cardona went for his signature radio silence, but Something countered into a power bomb position but he wasn’t able to hit it as Cardona shifted his weight and both men spilled to the floor. They made Something look like a total powerhouse.

The finish saw Myers come out and attack both men. He tried to injure Cardona’s eye before accepting his challenge for a match, which he wants at Rebellion.

— Backstage, XXXL confronted Trey Miguel about their match tonight. He told them that he wasn’t tagging with Sami Callihan which XXXL turned around by saying Miguel was just making excuses to avoid getting in the ring with them.

— We got a promo from Violent By Design. EY talked about how every war has important battles, but they’re not all important failures. He said he lost to James Storm, but it was Deaner who failed and had to make up for it tonight against Chris Sabin.

Sami Callihan and Trey Miguel defeated XXXL (Acey Romero & Larry D)

The story was that Callihan requested a tag match against XXXL with the idea that Miguel would join him and allow Callihan to guide him. Miguel rejected Callihan’s offer, giving us the impression that he’ll let Callihan die against both D and Romero. Miguel did show up though.

The match obviously worked on the lack of teamwork between Miguel and Callihan, Miguel didn’t want to do anything with Callihan and he wanted to wrestle XXXL by himself. Miguel had managed to hold his own against both men for a couple of minutes before they started stealing tags on each other. The tension between the two grew and grew but the teamwork did as well, ending with both men doing stereo dives and setting up Miguel for the submission win over Larry D.

After the match, Miguel didn’t want to celebrate with Callihan. I do hope this ends with a tag team run before they go for the imminent feud.

— Over at Swingers’ Paradise, James Storm, Chris Harris and Chris Sabin were playing blackjack before Storm and Sabin had to leave to get ready for Sabin’s match with Deaner. Harris stayed at the table to try and win some beer money.

Chris Sabin (w/ James Storm) defeated Deaner

VDB sent out Deaner to wrestle for himself as he must prove to them and himself that he can get the job done. The story told by commentary was that EY was taking out his loss to Storm on Deaner.

This was a great, fast paced sprint. It started with a showcase of Sabin’s offense from locks to a La Magistral pin attempt which ended up forcing Deaner to cheap shot him and cut him off with strikes. Deaner focused on Sabin’s neck whereas Sabin made his comeback going for Deaner’s leg.

The finish saw Deaner go for a pin with his feet on the ropes, but was caught by Storm who told the referee. Deaner distracted himself with the referee, allowing Sabin to recover and get the win with cradle shock.

After the match, EY appeared on the screen and told Storm and Sabin that Deaner’s success and failure wasn’t about the match, but about distracting them so that he and Joe Doering could take out Chris Harris. After the video, Rhino gored Storm and Deaner took out Sabin, forcing them to watch the screen as EY finished Harris. This was a great angle.

— Ace Austin and Fulton were approached by Josh Alexander, who told him that their match for Rebellion has been signed: Austin vs. TJP vs. Alexander for the X-Division title. TJP walked up only to be reminded that Austin pinned TJP last time. They were about to fight when Tommy Dreamer walked up and since he has booking powers for Hardcore Justice, he told them to find partners for a 3-way tag match.

— Backstage, Dreamer confronted EY about what he had just done. Dreamer told EY wasn’t getting away with it, calling him out on his s**t, and since EY was talking a lot of trash, he challenged him to bring his boys to a 4-on-4 at Hardcore Justice. There you have it. As usual, Dreamer is the fourth man.

— We got a great video package for Jazz talking about her career from training with JYD, joining ECW, joining WWE, and finally coming to Impact. She talked about failing to win the tag titles, but her focus was now on Deonna Purrazzo’s Knockouts title. She was so focused that she put her career on the line. Gia Miller interviewed Purrazzo afterward. Purrazzo had some passive aggressive comments about how without ODB and Jazz, there wouldn’t be a Knockouts division or even her. She said that by retiring Jazz, she’ll build a brighter future for the Knockouts, built on top of Jazz’s career. Miller tried to ask about Kimber Lee and Susan interfering in her matches, but Purrazzo shut her up saying that at Hardcore Justice, she’ll be there by herself to avoid distractions.

— Dreamer told Myers that he is going left and right pissing people off. Dreamer told him that Jake Something asked for a match with him after he had interfered in his match. So, Dreamer was booking a hardcore blindfold match agaist Something at Hardcore Justice.

— Brown and Striker ran down the updated card for Hardcore Justice including Shera vs Hernandez in a Chairly Legal match.

Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Eddie Edwards and Willie Mack defeated AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers (w/ Don Callis)

Swann and Omega are weeks away from their historic title vs. title match at Rebellion. Last week, both these teams brawled in the locker room after Callis had been instigating Swann. Edwards has recently made it his mission to antagonize the Good Brothers for coming to Impact, disrespecting the roster, and siding with Omega. The story so far has been that Omega and Callis keep bringing up that Omega is living rent free in Swann’s head who can’t get it out of his head that he lost to the One Winged Angel and that at Rebellion, he’ll do it again.

Callis made Omega’s introduction.

The match started with the Impact team running wild as they quickly took the match to the floor where all three hit dives on their counterparts. Back in the ring, they all worked on Anderson with a series of double and triple team moves.

After having to rely on an eye rake, Anderson was finally able to cut off Edwards and take him to the AEW corner. Edwards made it out eventually only to tag in Mack who also got cut off after hitting his Samoan drop/moonsault combo on Omega. After a couple of minutes, Mack was also able to escape and tag in Swann. We had a short pair up between Swann and Omega before Edwards tagged in.

The last couple of minutes saw everyone come in to hit a big move. Swann tagged in once again and showed that he could get out of the OWA, but when he went for the 450 splash pin, Callis pulled him out of the ring to break up the count. Anderson tagged in, Edwards hit the BKP and Swann hit the phoenix splash for the win.

The commentary team put a lot of emphasis that Swann can escape the OWA and that Callis’ tricks may not be working on Swann after all. This was a really good match.

I hope that at the end of the story, we at least get one match between Edwards (the former GHC Champion) vs. Omega (the former IWGP Champion).

Impact Wrestling live results: James Storm’s 1000th match

Preview by Josh Nason

James Storm’s long and winding wrestling road had led to the final Tuesday edition of Impact Wrestling as he will wrestle his 1000th match for the company, fittingly against a fellow Impact mainstay in Eric Young.

Storm started with then-TNA in 2002 with the promotion being a constant over his next 19 years with appearances for New Japan Pro Wrestling, ROH, MLW, NXT, and dozens of indie promotions sprinkled in.

In other action, Sami Callihan will take on Larry D (w/ Acey Romero) as a follow-up to Callihan sticking up for rival Trey Miguel against XXXL; X-Division Champion Ace Austin and Madman Fulton will take on Josh Alexander and former champion TJP; and Brian Myers will battle Suicide in one-on-one action.

Additionally, the build to Impact World Champion Rich Swann vs. AEW World Champion Kenny Omega at April’s Rebellion will continue.

On the Impact BTI preshow, Rohit Raju will team with Hernandez to take on Fallah Bahh and former ally Shera.

Our live coverage begins at 8 PM Eastern.

* * * * * * * * * *

Rohit Raju & Hernandez defeated Fallah Bahh & Mahabali Shera on BTI

* * * * * * * * * *

Opening video recapped last week’s main event, where Karl Anderson defeated Eddie Edwards with help of Gallows. Also, AEW’s Kenny Omega and Rich Swann’s promos, as they build to their Rebellion match.

Knockouts Tag Team Champions Fire ‘n Flava (Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz) defeated Havok & Nevaeh in a non-title match

This match came up after Hogan and Steelz offered a non-title match to Havok and Nevaeh, in order to prove that they had their number and couldn’t get a win over them.

Most of this match followed the usual layout of these team’s matches, with Havok and Nevaeh dominating early over Hogan with the power advantage, but quickly enough being cut off when Hogan and Steelz start using their tag team proficiency.

Havok was the babyface in peril until she finally used her power advantage to break out and tag in Nevaeh. Last couple of minutes saw all women hit their signature move before Hogan got the win over Havok after a frog splash from Steelz. Good match.

After the match, Nevaeh and Havok seemed to be on the same side, but Nevaeh finally snapped and took out Havok. Months of losses and frustration built up to today. Nevaeh kept saying that She thought she was the weak link and Havok made her doubt herself. All the writing was on the wall, this worked out as expected.

– D’lo Brown & Matt Striker ran down tonight’s card, including the announcements of Rebellion’s new date to April 25th, and Impact moving to Thursdays next week.

– Gia Miller interviewed James Storm, prior to his 1000th match on Impact Wrestling. Storm said that as much as this should be a celebration, this is about dedication. He talked about coming up with ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris and how Bob Ryder got him his first deal, and the rest is history. Sabin and Something bought out Harris as a special surprise for Storm. They hugged, America’s Most Wanted reunited for one night.

– Miller interviewed Deonna Purrazzo and Susan. Purrazzo said that she was unstoppable and had been beating everyone, but Susan interrupted her to start talking trash about Jazz, who happened to run and attacked Susan before she could continue.

Sami Callihan defeated Larry D (with Acey Romero)

Last week, as Trey Miguel was wrestling Acey Romero, Callihan surprisingly saved Miguel from a beat up at the hands of XXXL. D requested for a match against Callihan.

Match was a bit of a hoss fight, with a lot of striking, a lot of clotheslines, a lot of slamming each other, both in and outside the ring.

The match was mostly back and forward, Callihan gave a lot to D, even a great discus lariat that could have led to a good near fall if not for the splash he went for. Callihan got one with a DVD. Finish came after both men brawled on the apron, ending with Callihan dropping D with a piledriver.

After the match, Acey Romero attacked Callihan, and commentary made notice that Trey Miguel didn’t return the favor and save Callihan.

– We got a big video package of FinJuice’s run throughout the New Japan Cup, and all the mentions of the Impac tag titles during the tour.

Omega, Callis, and the Good Brothers were watching the commercial and making comments about how FinJuice got better, but Anderson and Gallows were not impressed.

– Backstage, Callihan approached Miguel about helping him last week, but Miguel didn’t return the favor. Callihan told Miguel that he lacked passion and that was the reason why he was pushing him to his limit. Callihan told him that he needed to capitalize on all that anger, and offered to help him do it. Callihan told Miguel that he is going to go to D’Amore and ask for a tag match against XXXL. Miguel was reluctant, but Callihan gave him time to think about it.

Brian Myers defeated Suicide

No story here between these two, but Myers has yet to answer Matt Cardona’s challenge to settle their differences.

Match saw an early advantage by Suicide, using his speed to dodge around, have several counters to Myers’ attempts to cut him up, btu eventually, Myers caught him with a reverse STO and his big lariat for the win. This was like a reverse squash if there is such a thing, with Suicide having control throughout the match, and the Myers winning with one shot.

After the match, Myers addressed Cardona, saying he was trying to get the rub by wrestling Myers. He told him that Myers was the face of Impact and so he declined Cardona’s challenge.

– Backstage, Jazz went to Tommy Dreamer, who is booking Hardcore Justice. Dreamer proposed an ultimate opportunity match, that Jazz can get a shot at Purrazzo, if Jazz puts something up for grabs. Jazz put her career on the line. Interesting since she was days away from retiring before coming to Impact, so she could definitely just end it there, but also, she could get the title and keep on going for a few more months.

– We got our weekly AEW commercial with Khan and Schiavone. They talked about tomorrow’s Dynamite card. Khan did a total heel promo about how he controls wrestling and Omega’s bookings, and so once he wins the Impact title, they’ll lose control of their title.

– Over at Swinger’s Paradise, Bravo and Swinger talked about making a lot of money by opening bookings for Rebellion. Omega and Callis walked in, wondering what the odds for Omega vs Swann were, which were 1:1 until Callis showed Swinger their One Winged Angel video. Callis put down a 20K bet on Omega.

X Division Champion Ace Austin & Madman Fulton defeated TJP & Josh Alexander

The feud between these men, around the X Division title, continues. Last week, TJP defeated Austin by DQ after Fulton attacked TJP, only to get saved by Alexander, and so TJP and Alexander got their chance to take on Austin.

Story of the match was that both Alexander and TJP wanted to get their hands on Austin, so they kept trying to steal the spotlight on each other, blind tag each other, and so Austin and Fulton were able to easily gain the upper hand. As the match went on, both men started to work better together in order to counter the power of Fulton. It wasn’t until the end that they started fighting each other to be the legal man, giving Austin the opening to roll TJP for the pin.

Overall good match, that saw Austin and Fulton cut off TJP for a couple of minutes. TJP made a comeback and tagged out, leading to a short striking exchange between Alexander and Fulton. At the end, the match broke down with everyone in it, building to TJP and Alexander having the win over Austin, but TJP stole the tag from Alexander, and as they distracted themselves, Austin for the pin.

– Don Callis approached Willie Mack and told him he liked Mack a lot and had big plans for him. Callis showed Mack the One Winged Angel video, only to get interrupted by Swann himself. Callis told Swann and he and Omega loved Swann’s finisher and was looking forward to kicking out of it.

Swann told Callis that he won’t get in his head and that he should come to his friends, he told Callis that if he wasn’t his boss, he’d slap him right there and now. Callis told him that for the next five minutes, he wasn’t the VP and picked up a fight with Swann. Omega and the Good Brothers jumped Swann and Mack until Edwards made the save.

– We got a tease vignette for something that looks punk, to debut in April.

– Backstage, Rohit Raju tried to talk tag team plans with Hernandez after their win on BTI, but Hernandez told him their relation was based on him getting paid and nothing else.

– We got a promo by VBD, with EY talking about his match with James Storm tonight. He said that this company was built on men like them, and tonight, he was going to show him that this world belonged to him. Ok promo.

– Tommy Dreamer had a meeting with the Knockouts to announce the plans for Hardcore Justice. Purrazzo cut a promo on how she’ll retire Jazz and how she is hoping to get some competition from the roster soon. Dreamer tried to bring out Su Yung out of Susan, but he was unsuccessful.

Dreamer announced a #1 Contender women’s scramble match with anything goes rules. Winner gets her shot at Rebellion. Havok, Grace, and Havok were into the idea, but Dashwood wasn’t that happy about it.

– Brown and Striker announced Omega & the Good Brothers vs Swann, Mack, and Edwards in Omega’s Impact Wrestling TV debut, taking place next week.

James Storm (with Chris Sabin, Jake Something, & ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris) defeated Eric Young (with Violent By Design)

Beyond celebrating Storm’s 1000th match on Impact Wrestling, this match is coming from the ongoing feud between Storm, Something, and Sabin against Violent By Design.

Really good match, but not as special as it could have been. Storm controlled the action early on, but after distracting himself, EY cut him off after ramming him head first into the ring post. EY worked over Storm’s head, but it wasn’t long for Storm to make a comeback.

Storm hit the eye of the storm of a near fall, EY hit the top rope elbow for one himself. Finish came down to both teams brawling outside after Storm had been tossed to the floor, Harris made sure EY couldn’t get his hands on his mask, setting him up for Storm to take him out with the last call for the win. No big celebration, Storm and his guys just posed on the ramp as the show went off the air.

I can see these two teams having a big match soon, it could be perfect for a Lethal Lockdown if and when Lockdown takes place.

Impact Wrestling live results: Private Party & Matt Hardy appear

Preview by Josh Nason

Tonight’s edition of Impact Wrestling has some intrigue as a mystery partner will join Impact Wrestling World Champion Rich Swann, Tommy Dreamer and Willie Mack in an eight-man tag team match against Moose, Chris Bey, Sami Callihan and Ken Shamrock.

In a clip from Impact’s Twitter feed over the weekend, a brawl between the seven men will likely open the show with the challenge answered later for the night’s main event helped along by Impact VP Scott D’Amore.

Also on the show, AEW’s Private Party and Matt Hardy will make an appearance after they earned a shot at the Impact Tag Team Titles; Matt Cardona will make his Tuesday in-ring debut, teaming with Josh Alexander against Ace Austin and Madman Fulton; Eddie Edwards takes on Brian Myers; Joe Doering takes on Cousin Jake, and Tenille Dashwood battles Rosemary.

Everything kicks off at 8 PM Eastern.

**********

Show opened with a recap of Matt Hardy and Private Party’s appearance, where the latter earned themselves a shot at the Impact Tag Team titles after AEW’s Jerry Lynn helped them defeat Chris Sabin and James Storm in the main event.

Impact is debuting a new intro video. Always worth paying attention on who they focus on.

– Rich Swann opened the show coming down to the ring. Swann cut a promo saying that all his life, he wanted to be a professional wrestler and he always knew that one day, hard work would lead him to becoming a World champion, which he was now. He now understood the target behind his back and he welcomed all challengers. Swann asked Tommy Dreamer out.

Swann mentioned that February 13th is not only No Surrender, but also Dreamer’s 50th birthday, and after everything that Dreamer has done for the industry, locker room, and Swann himself, he wants to offer Dreamer a shot at the title.

Sami Callihan interrupted the moment. He talked trash to both, saying Dreamer is once out there trying to politic his way to a main event, and Swann lost to Omega and embarrassed the company.

Chris Bey came out and said that February 13 is ALSO his birthday, and since he is the future of Impact, he should be the one getting a title shot. And finally, hopefully, out came Moose to claim the title shot that he already has pending.

Swann told them all off because he wanted Dreamer, and so the heels started to beat up the babyfaces until Willie Mack made his return, stunned everyone, and cleared the ring.

Suddenly, Shamrock appeared behind the babyfaces and once again, with the numbers advantage, the heels took out Swann, Mack, and Dreamer. I take it we got ourselves a 6-way at No Surrender.

Backstage, Gia Miller caught up with Swann, Dreamer, and Mack. They said they wanted a match against them. D’Amore told them they had the perfect 4th men for them.

– D’lo Brown and Matt Striker ran down tonight’s card.

Matt Cardona & Josh Alexander defeated Ace Austin & Madman Fulton

This match came about last week when Austin and Fulton were making fun of Alexander for his lack of success lately. When they came to blows, Cardona, who defeated Austin at Hard To Kill, came down for the save.

Story of the match was to showcase how well Alexander and Cardona worked together, even if this was their first tag match. Austin and Fulton, thanks to the power of the latter, managed to cut off Alexander and work over him for a couple of minutes.

Cardona got the hot tag and ran wild on Austin, but Fulton cut him off and pulled the dead Austin to the corner for the tag and regained some control of the match. Alexander helped Cardona by getting Fulton off him and giving him the space to hit radio silence for the win.

At this point, Alexander and Cardona are likely to become a unit.

– Rohit Raju asked someone behind the camera for help, so they could get the better of TJP in his upcoming match, and later on regain the X Division title.

– We got our weekly AEW commercial with Khan and Schiavone. Khan said that he was using Impact as his personal fantasy booking and that’s why he made sure he got the #1 contendership for the tag titles on Private Party. Khan is really pushing his cocky heel gimmick.

– Brian Myers and Matt Cardona met up backstage. Myers told him he had a chance to tag with him, but instead he went for a loser while Myers was out there wrestling with former World champions.

Brian Myers defeated Eddie Edwards by DQ

This match had the simplest, but most perfect set up. Myers interrupted Edwards while getting checked by the doctor, they trash talked each other, and decided to deal with it inside the ring.

Myers calling himself the “most professional wrestler” and referring to Edwards as a “garbage wrestler”, the story of the match was about how Edwards could easily out wrestle him until Myers had to rely on cheating to get the upper hand. Moreover, Edwards is still selling the injuries from Barbed Wire Massacre IV, from Hard To Kill, and so it was an easy target for Myers to focus on while getting heat.

Towards the end, when Myers was ready to finish off Edwards, he was caught with an eye rake from Edwards and a bite for the DQ after he wouldn’t let go. The match had been quite good until the end, I wouldn’t mind a rivalry between these two as long as they keep it inside the ring and weaponless.

Commentary sold it that Edwards had suddenly snapped and this was not normal from him, so it seems that Edwards will be heading into some sort of identity crisis or self control problem going forward.

– Backstage, Tasha Steelz and Kiera Hogan complained that everyone coming to the party were ugly, so they decided to make this a masquerade party. Oh no, this is the new comedy storyline isn’t it?

– Matt Hardy congratulated Private Party because he had led them to a title shot. Hardy wanted them to have both the Impact and AEW titles so they could get more money, so that HE could get more money.

Rosemary (w/Crazzy Steve) defeated Tenille Dashwood (w/Kaleb with a K)

Decay defeated the team of Dashwood and Kaleb at Hard To Kill in a tag team match. This time around, Rosemary and Dashwood go at it one-on-one, which is where this feud originally started, when Dashwood started teasing Rosemary of being Taya’s leftovers.

Match wasn’t that good. Dashwood controlled from the get go when Kaleb distracted Rosemary and tossed his camera bag to Dashwood for her to use as a weapon. Even after catching Dashwood with the upside down, Rosemary wasn’t able to turn the match around.

It wasn’t until Dashwood went for a half Nelson that Rosemary used her power advantage to break loose and gather some momentum for a comeback and win with a butterfly bomb.

Backstage, Larry D made his return from prison. D wanted revenge on Rosemary and so he attacked Steve backstage. D and Rosemary got face to face and teased a match between the two teams.

– Somewhere else backstage, Bravo and Swinger are running a casino. Steelz and Hogan hired them all to work as staff for the Fire ‘n Flava Festival. Oh no.

– Deonna Purrazzo bragged to Kimber Lee and Susan how she defeated Taya and now she’s gone from the company. Jazz and Jordynne Grace walked up to them and said they were not done. Susan challenged Grace to a one-on-one match next week.

– Over in the ring, we have the Fire ‘n Flava Fest, hosted by MC Lishius, aka Alisha Edwards. She introduced Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz to the ring. This is gonna be bad.

Hogan and Steelz put each other over, but this being a play on Fyre Fest, it was a mess and so the invitees started to complain about the cheap food and drinks. It was all built to Nevaeh and Havok sneaking into the party, where they attacked Hogan and Stelz and sent them running.

This was obviously the overdone heel championship win celebration, on paper it wasn’t bad, especially ending with a new challenge, but the execution was embarrassing.

– Sabin and Storm met up for a drink to talk about Matt Hardy and Private Party. They agree to not be done with them or the Good Brothers. They said that they were gonna take some shots and go after the titles.

Joe Doering (w/Violent By Design) defeated Cousin Jake

Cousin Jake, now as a single unit, has been feuding with Eric Young, Doering, and now his former tag partner Cody Deaner, when Deaner betrayed him. Jake took the loss at Hard To Kill at the hands of EY, but he still wanted more, and he got Doering.

This was a squash. The story was similar to Hard To kIll, Doering is a dominating monster, not even Jake diving to the floor will take him off his feet. Doering destroyed Jake with a bunch of powermoves, ending with a big lariat for the pin.

After the match, VBD teased Pillmanizing Jake, but instead, EY offered Jake a spot in their stable and walked away.

– Brown and Striker ran down next week’s card, including Grace vs Susan, Josh Alexander vs Madman Fulton, Tasha Steelz vs Havok, and TJP vs Rohit Raju.

Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Tommy Dreamer, & Trey Miguel defeated Moose, Sami Callihan, Ken Shamrock, & Chris Bey

The fourth man to join Swann, Mack, and Dreamer turned out to be the returning Trey Miguel, who is now sporting a new look.

Match was your quintessential multi-wrestler match, with everyone pairing up to start the match, babyfaces with the advantage until the heel corner managed to cut off Mack. Callihan, Bey, Shamrock, and Moose all took turns on Mack, focusing on the leg. The heels were not exactly working perfectly together though, at one point Moose slapped Bey to tag him in, whipped him to the ropes and caught Bey with a pop-up powerbomb, only to drop him on Mack.

Trey Miguel would eventually get the hot tag from Mack, he seemed quire more aggressive than before, he took out Callihan. We got everyone taking turns to come in for their signature moves, ending with Miguel and Callihan, who got pin by Miguel when he reversed Callihan’s package piledriver. The match was quite good, just not long enough to showcase everyone involved. The right man took the win and on Callihan of all people. A Miguel vs Callihan feud would be quite interesting.

After the match, Shamrock attacked the referee and locked in the ankle lock. This is probably how he gets written off for a couple of weeks.

Final thoughts —

Ok show by Impact. It’s that awkward episode of Impact we get after pay per views where they start to build up feuds for both the next pay per view, but also the weekend specials in between, and so many things feel disconnected at this point. We did get a couple of good matches, a return, and some decent teases for next week.
