VIDEO: WWE reveals new set for SmackDown on FOX

Before the show’s FOX premiere went on the air tonight, WWE unveiled SmackDown’s new set:

Renee Young, Booker T, Big E, and Xavier Woods revealed the set on tonight’s “blue carpet” kickoff special, which featured Young and Booker T hosting the broadcast inside of the Staples Center and FOX Sports’ Charissa Thompson doing interviews outside of the building.

SmackDown and Raw both got new sets and other presentation elements this week. Both shows have new theme songs as well. The theme for SmackDown on FOX is “Are You Ready” by AC/DC, while Raw’s new theme is “Legendary” by Skillet.

New commentary teams for Raw and SmackDown also went into effect this week. Vic Joseph, Dio Maddin, and Jerry “The King” Lawler are calling Raw, while Michael Cole and Corey Graves are calling SmackDown.

WWE has also announced that Renee Young will be a “special contributor” for SmackDown.

In addition to the blue carpet special, there was a pre-show match at the Staples Center before SmackDown tonight. Ali defeated Buddy Murphy.

Four Horsewomen tag rematch set for WWE SmackDown’s FOX debut

The final episode of SmackDown on USA Network included a match announcement for the show’s FOX premiere.

Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair will team against Sasha Banks & SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley on SmackDown’s FOX debut. It’s taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Friday, October 4.

The theme of the FOX premiere is SmackDown’s 20th anniversary celebration, and it will also feature Brock Lesnar challenging for Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship.

Lynch & Charlotte vs. Banks & Bayley is a rematch from the September 9 episode of Raw at Madison Square Garden. Lynch & Charlotte got the win in that match.

The Friday Night SmackDown premiere comes in advance of Lynch defending her Raw Women’s Championship against Banks in a Hell in a Cell match at WWE’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on October 6. Tonight’s SmackDown ended with an angle where Banks attacked Lynch as she was being interviewed backstage.

Banks & Bayley also defeated Charlotte & Carmella earlier on SmackDown tonight. Lynch saved Charlotte from Banks and Bayley after the match.
