Left My Wallet: Flip Gordon talks sports

‘I Left My Wallet In Greg Polanco’ returns with yours truly and Ring of Honor/New Japan superstar Flip Gordon!

Flip is fresh off his NJPW debut in this year’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament and and now is your chance to hear his opinions and unique takes on sports for the very first time. We talk about what he watched and who he rooted for growing up in Montana, who his favorite athlete was growing up, the Celtics and the NBA, whom he feels the Celtics should trade, his opinions on LeBron James, and more.

We also talk some NFL, being a Patriots and Seahawks fan, and we finish up with a little talk on diet, nutrition, and intermittent fasting.

Flip is one of the top high flyers in the world today and has risen to worldwide prominence as fast (or faster) than anyone I can remember. There has been no other show that has talked to Flip about pro sports, but now here it is. It’s another side of the man known for pouring his milk before his cereal and it’s a quick, fun chat I know you’ll love.

Don Callis, Madison Rayne & MJF announced for All In

Three more talents have been confirmed for All In, and unfortunately for Flip Gordon, he’s still not booked.

MJF and Madison Rayne secured their spots at a WrestlePro event this past Friday. They teamed up to take on Flip Gordon and Brandi Rhodes. As a continuation of a story that has been developing on Being the Elite, the stipulation to this match was that the winners of the match would advance to All In, with Rhodes assuring Gordon that everything would go their way.

The finish of the match had Rhodes low blowing MJF as he was about to strike her with a steel chair. The referee disqualified Gordon and Rhodes, therefore denying Gordon another shot at being booked for All In.

Meanwhile, the Young Bucks officially welcomed Don Callis to All In after they won the IWGP tag team titles at Dominion this morning. They walked over to Callis after the match and said he was All In, which indicates at some point this show will either be streaming or on video on demand. Calls happily accepted the invitation.

All In will take place September 1 at the Sears Center Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Flip Gordon, 12 more advertised for NJPW Best of the Super Juniors

Advertising for this year’s Best of the Super Juniors appears to have revealed most of the lineup for the tournament.

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay, Hiromu Takahashi, KUSHIDA, Marty Scurll, Flip Gordon, Dragon Lee, BUSHI, Sho, Yoh, Ryusuke Taguchi, Tiger Mask IV, El Desperado, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru are featured on the poster. Assuming there will again be 16 wrestlers in the field, there are only three names left to be announced.

Gordon officially confirmed on Twitter that he’ll be in the tournament. It was teased that he would be taking part in it when he wrestled for NJPW for the first time on their Honor Rising tour with ROH in February.

Dragon Lee suffered a leg injury at CMLL’s Arena Mexico show last Friday. The severity of it has yet to be confirmed, but Luchablog notes that he was back in the gym yesterday.

This year’s Best of the Super Juniors will begin at Korakuen Hall on May 18th and conclude at the venue on June 4th. If Ospreay doesn’t win the tournament, the winner will likely challenge for his title at Dominion on June 9th.

After Dave Meltzer reported earlier this month that Flip Gordon would be facing a wrestler from New Japan Pro Wrestling at the PPV, ROH confirmed today that it will be Gordon vs. Takahashi. Gordon faced Takahashi and KUSHIDA in a triple threat match on the first night of the Honor Rising tour in Tokyo last weekend and got the pin on his Anniversary show opponent. On the second night, Gordon teamed with Ryusuke Taguchi against Takahashi & BUSHI and took the fall.

In post-show interviews on the Honor Rising tour, it was teased that Gordon will be in this year’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament.

Six-man tag title match announced for ROH Final Battle

The Young Bucks & Hangman Page will be defending their Ring of Honor World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against Flip Gordon, Dragon Lee & Titan at next month’s Final Battle pay-per-view.

ROH announced the match yesterday after it was the only thing for the card not revealed at their two most recent sets of television tapings. Dave Meltzer previously reported that Gordon would be teaming with two wrestlers from CMLL in the match, though it hadn’t yet been confirmed who they would be at that point.

In the other title matches at Final Battle, Cody Rhodes will defend his ROH World Championship against Dalton Castle in the main event, Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor will challenge for Motor City Machine Guns’ tag titles, and Kenny King will face Silas Young, Punishment Martinez, and Shane Taylor in a four corners elimination match for the TV title.

Final Battle 2017 will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on December 15th. The Briscoes vs. Bully Ray & Tommy Dreamer in a hardcore match, Marty Scurll vs. Jay Lethal, Will Ospreay vs. Matt Taven, and The Addiction vs. War Machine have also been set up for the PPV.
