MONDAY NEWS UPDATE

Bryan and I will be back tonight with Wrestling Observer radio talking Raw, New Japan Cup, Kurt Angle, Bellas, Being the Elite, Mania main event and taking your e-mail questions to [email protected].

WWE has gotten a lot of pub regarding announcing the Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair match is going to be the main event for WrestleMania. It came down to that match and Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins, and the women’s match should have headlined. Plus, announcing it in advance gives the show more publicity than waiting until the last week. So it all makes sense. All three women are going to ESPN tomorrow for the 7:45 a.m. edition of Sports Center. Roman Reigns will be on First Take at 11 a.m.

For the NJPW/ROH Madison Square Garden show, the show is now starting at 6:15 p.m. with a Stardom tag team match, followed by the Rumble at 6:30 and Jeff Cobb vs. Will Ospreay starts the ten match main card at 7:30 p.m. The women’s match will not be streamed or on PPV.

Flip Gordon noted that when he woke up this morning, his knee locked up. He was scheduled to return to the ring on Sunday in Baltimore. Right now ROH is awaiting an update on his situation.

Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore will be in a video game called RetroMania Wrestling. The game is being called the spiritual successor of the 1991 WWE arcade game Wrestle Fest and the roster features Dreamer, the Road Warriors, Zack Sabre Jr., and Austin Idol.

Flip Gordon cleared to return to the ring

Flip Gordon posted an update on his recovery from injury today, announcing that he’s been cleared to return to the ring.

Gordon tweeted: “UPDATE: I just saw the doctor, I passed all the tests, and I am officially CLEARED to WRESTLE!!!”

Gordon suffered a knee injury while facing Tracy Williams at ROH’s Honor Reigns Supreme event on January 13. Gordon grabbed his knee after hitting a single-leg dropkick, then rolled out of the ring shortly after hitting a springboard spear. The referee declared Williams the winner by stoppage.

ROH posted an injury update on Gordon on January 22. An MRI revealed that Gordon suffered a full MCL tear in his right knee at Honor Reigns Supreme, but ROH noted that surgery was not required and he should be able to return in time for G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 6.

The crowd chanted Gordon’s name at one point during Bully Ray’s promo at last week’s ROH 17th Anniversary pay-per-view, with Bully Ray telling them that he never said “I Quit” during the I Quit match he lost to Gordon at Final Battle. Bully Ray issued an open challenge for anyone in the pro wrestling business to face him in a New York City street fight at G1 Supercard.

Flip Gordon suffered MCL tear, expected back in time for MSG show

Ring of Honor has issued another injury update on Flip Gordon.

ROH announced that an MRI has revealed that Gordon suffered a full MCL tear in his right knee while facing Tracy Williams at Honor Reigns Supreme on January 13. It was noted that the timetable for Gordon’s recovery means that he should be able to return in time for ROH and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden on April 6.

Gordon also tweeted today: “Got great news today from the Doctors #SeeYouSoon”

At Honor Reigns Supreme, Gordon grabbed his knee after hitting a single-leg dropkick into the corner. He rolled out of the ring shortly after hitting a springboard spear. The referee called for the bell and Williams was declared the winner by stoppage.

Gordon was originally supposed to face Bandido at Road to G1 Supercard: Dallas this Thursday and team with Colt Cabana in the Tag Wars tournament that’s taking place at ROH’s three G1 Supercard shows in Texas. Bandido is now facing Silas Young in Dallas, and Willie Mack is Cabana’s new partner for the tournament.

Injury updates on Chris Sabin, Flip Gordon

After Chris Sabin and Flip Gordon both suffered knee injuries over the weekend, Ring of Honor has issued an update on their conditions.

ROH announced that Sabin and Gordon will be undergoing MRIs this week to confirm the extent of their injuries.

ROH noted that it’s believed that Sabin suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during Saturday’s television tapings at Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia. Sabin was facing Gordon, Shane Taylor, Luchasaurus, Rhett Titus, and Kenny King in a six-way match when the injury happened, and ROH wrote that Sabin “began clutching his knee after executing a super hurricanrana on Gordon. He was unable to finish the match and was helped to the back. “

Despite his history of ACL injuries, Sabin tweeted on Monday: “I’ll be back.”

ROH announced that it’s believed Gordon will be out of action for a minimum of four weeks due to a possible MCL sprain in his right knee. While facing Tracy Williams at Honor Reigns Supreme in Concord, North Carolina on Sunday, Gordon grabbed his knee after hitting a single-leg dropkick into the corner. He rolled out of the ring shortly after hitting a springboard spear. The referee called the match off and Williams was declared the winner by stoppage.

PWG has announced that Gordon, who was originally supposed to face Bandido, is off their Hand of Doom show this Friday. ACH is replacing Gordon in the match with Bandido.

It appears that the injury will also take Gordon out of his scheduled match against Bandido at ROH’s Road to G1 Supercard event in Dallas, Texas on January 24. Gordon was supposed to team with Colt Cabana in the Tag Wars tournament that’s taking place at the Road to G1 Supercard shows in Texas this month.

Flip Gordon and Chris Sabin suffer knee injuries

Flip Gordon and Chris Sabin both suffered knee injuries while wrestling for Ring of Honor over the weekend.

ROH general manager Greg Gilleland issued a statement confirming the injuries: “Unfortunately, Ring of Honor can confirm that both Flip Gordon and Chris Sabin suffered knee injuries during this past weekend’s events that left them each in significant pain. The severity for each injury will not be known until further tests are concluded, but we wish them a speedy recovery and hope they can return to the ROH ring soon.”

Gordon was injured while facing Tracy Williams at Honor Reigns Supreme in Concord, North Carolina on Sunday night. Gordon grabbed his knee after hitting a single-leg dropkick into the corner. He rolled out of the ring shortly after hitting a springboard spear. The referee called the match off and Williams was declared the winner by stoppage.

Sabin suffered his injury at Saturday’s ROH television tapings at Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia. Sabin was facing Gordon, Shane Taylor, Luchasaurus, Rhett Titus, and Kenny King in a six-way match when the injury happened.

Sabin tweeted on Monday: “I’ll be back.”

ROH TV results: Four corner survival to decide next title challenger

Ian Riccaboni was in the ring to kick off the first episode of 2019. He had four wrestlers in the ring with him, all of whom have earned a ROH World Championship match.

The first man, Chris Sabin, took ROH World Champion Jay Lethal to a time limit draw in a proving ground match. The next wrestler, Flip Gordon, won the Sea of Honor tournament to earn his shot. After that was Marty Scurll, who won Survival of the Fittest and a chance to challenge for the title. Finally, there was Dalton Castle, who had a contractually obligated rematch after being bested by Lethal.

Riccaboni then called out Lethal, but Matt Taven came out instead. Taven said that he in fact did retain his “real” World title at Final Battle. Then he proceeded to run down all four men saying that none were worthy.

Lethal was in the house and had heard enough smack talk. He came down to confront Taven. The two got into a brawl that ended when the referees and officials separated them.

ROH Television Champion Jeff Cobb defeated Luchasaurus in a proving ground match

Luchasaurus got the early advantage with a spinning heel kick that put Cobb down for a near fall. His edge didn’t last long as Cobb caught him in mid-air and launched him with a suplex. Cobb then took the half-man/half-dinosaur to the top rope and launched him with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex, which he followed up with a standing moonsault. Luchasaurus kicked out at two.

Not to be outdone, Luchasaurus fought back and landed a standing moonsault of his own. Luchasaurus tried some other lucha style offense — but it was to no avail as Cobb again caught him and connected with the Tour of the Islands for the the win.

Women of Honor World Champion Kelly Klein defeated Nikki Addams to retain her title

Addams was already in the ring as Klein made her way down. Klein got on the microphone and announced that she would be a fighting champion in 2019 and that every one of her singles matches would be a title bout.

Instead of following the Code of Honor, Addams punched Klein in the mouth and went right after her. Klein used her experience to keep her foe at bay. Addams was able to get in some offense, which included a running chop, but Klein was too savvy for her. Ultimately, it was Klein who got the pin after a knee strike that knocked out Addams.

After the match, Jenny Rose came out to remind Klein that the two of them have some unfinished business. They’ll be facing each other in a title match, but Rose wanted to add a stipulation to it, making it a street fight. Klein accepted — and so it will be a “Concord Street Fight” for the WOH Championship at Honor Reigns Supreme this Sunday.

Brian Milonas found Beer City Bruiser drinking and told him that it was time to move past the betrayal by Silas Young.

Christopher Daniels came to the ring dressed in a suit. He said he was there to say goodbye. He recalled his first match in the main event of the first ROH show, which was a 60-minute Iron Man match between himself, Low Ki, and Bryan Danielson. He thanked everyone, and with a tear in his eye, he said goodbye.

Joe Koff then came out and said that the two of them have had their differences, but due to Daniels being selfless when he defended Cary Silkin at Final Battle, his feelings for Daniels have changed. Because of Daniels’ courage, Koff offered him a contract for 2019.

As Koff was presenting Daniels with the new contract, Shane Taylor jumped the barricade and laid out Daniels. He tossed him around, slammed him into the ring post, and went after him with a folding chair. To finish him off, Taylor gave Daniels a Greetings from the 216 on top of the chair, then tore up the contract.

Dalton Castle defeated Chris Sabin, Marty Scurll, and Flip Gordon in a four corner survival match to earn the first title shot

Lethal joined Colt Cabana and Riccaboni on commentary for the main event.

Gordon and Sabin hit tandem dives onto Castle and Scurll. Sabin followed it up with a big missile dropkick. Gordon also landed one on Castle. The two of them then shook hands, seemingly forming an alliance. Their grappling cooperative didn’t last long as both men inevitably attacked each other.

After the break, Scurll and Gordon were in a heated chop exchange. There was a unique multi-man submission hold involving everyone. Scurll was using a toe hold on Gordon, Castle was using a chinlock on Gordon, and Sabin used an abdominal stretch on Scurll.

Scurll, Gordon, and Castle were fighting, and that allowed Sabin to go up top and land a crossbody. Sabin then hit a running tornado DDT, kicking off of his opponents. That put everyone down again. However, Castle caught him with a slam.

Next, Castle ran into Gordon, who cut him off. Gordon did a reverse fireman’s carry slam onto Castle and used the momentum to pop to his feet. Sabin got back in and thought he had Gordon with a top rope hurricanrana, but again Gordon landed on his feet.

Scurll caught Gordon from the outside, but Sabin landed a Scurll-esque kick. Sabin turned around right into Castle, who hit the Bang-A-Rang on Sabin to get the win. Castle will get his title shot against Lethal at Honor Reigns Supreme this Sunday.

Bandido facing Flip Gordon at ROH Road to G1 Supercard: Dallas

Ring of Honor has confirmed another one of Bandido’s matches for this month.

It was announced on Thursday that Bandido vs. Flip Gordon will headline ROH’s Road to G1 Supercard show in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, January 24. ROH also has Road to G1 Supercard shows in Houston on Friday, January 25 and San Antonio on Saturday, January 26. The shows will air live on HonorClub.

Bandido will make his ROH debut against Mark Haskins at the promotion’s television tapings at Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia this Saturday. Bandido vs. PJ Black is set for Honor Reigns Supreme in Concord, North Carolina this coming Sunday.

The three Road to G1 Supercard shows in Texas will feature a 12-team Tag Wars tournament. The winners will get a Tag Team title shot at ROH’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view on March 15 and a spot in the Crockett Cup tournament on April 27. It was announced earlier this month that the NWA is partnering with ROH for the Crockett Cup.

Bully Ray vs. Flip Gordon I Quit match added to ROH Final Battle

Bully Ray and Flip Gordon’s feud will continue with a stipulation match at Final Battle.

ROH announced today that Bully Ray will face Gordon in an I Quit match at Final Battle 2018. The pay-per-view is taking place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Friday, December 14.

Bully Ray and Gordon were on opposite sides of a tag team tables elimination match at ROH’s most recent PPV, with Bully Ray & Silas Young defeating Gordon & Colt Cabana at Death Before Dishonor. Gordon defeated Bully Ray by disqualification at Best in the World this June.

During the build to Final Battle, there was a storyline where Bully Ray and Gordon picked wrestlers to represent them in a match. Silas Young defeated The Sandman, which meant that Bully Ray got to do whatever he wanted to Gordon. Bully Ray hit Gordon with a cane multiple times and gave him a low blow.

Gordon issued the challenge for an I Quit match at Global Wars: Toronto earlier this month.

Jay Lethal defending the ROH World Championship against Cody Rhodes, Hangman Page challenging for Jeff Cobb’s Television title, Sumie Sakai defending her Women of Honor World title in a four-way match, Matt Taven vs. Dalton Castle, Jonathan Gresham vs. Zack Sabre Jr., and Bully Ray and Gordon’s I Quit match have been publicly confirmed for Final Battle.

Tables match set for ROH Death Before Dishonor

Ring of Honor has added a stipulation match to the card for next week’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view.

ROH announced today that Flip Gordon will be teaming with Colt Cabana against Bully Ray & Silas Young in a tables match at the PPV. Gordon and Bully Ray have been involved in a feud in ROH, with Cabana standing up for Gordon over the course of it.

Bully Ray walked out on Young during a tag match against Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor at ROH’s television tapings in July. In a post-show angle, Bully Ray said he did it to motivate Young and bring out the old version of him. Bully & Young then faced Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham at last month’s tapings.

The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will host Death Before Dishonor on September 28 and a set of TV tapings on September 29. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:

  • ROH World Champion Jay Lethal defending against Will Ospreay
  • Bullet Club (Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Marty Scurll & Hangman Page) vs. Chaos (Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, Rocky Romero, Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor)
  • Women of Honor Champion Sumie Sakai defending against Tenille Dashwood
  • ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes defending against Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian
  • ROH Television Champion Punishment Martinez defending against Chris Sabin
  • Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Kenny King
  • Flip Gordon & Colt Cabana vs. Bully Ray & Silas Young in a tables match

Flip Gordon gets booked for All In

It took until after the show started, but the storyline of Flip Gordon getting booked for All In finally came to an end as part of the Over Budget Battle Royale.

Gordon won the battle royal after dressing up as Chico El Luchador. The story for the match was that Gordon was powerbombed through a table outside the ring by Bully Ray as it started. He sold on the outside until Bully Ray eliminated Colt Cabana and appeared to have the match won. Gordon came into the ring, superkicked Bully Ray, unmasked, and threw him out.

Gordon and Bully Ray have also been involved in a feud for Ring of Honor.

Gordon will challenge for Jay Lethal’s ROH World Championship on the All In main card.

Moose, Brandon Cutler, Trent Barreta, Chuck Taylor, Rocky Romero, Cheeseburger, Shane “Hurricane” Helms, Ethan Page, Tommy Dreamer, Jimmy Jacobs, Punishment Martinez, Austin Gunn, Billy Gunn, Marko Stunt, Brian Cage, Jordynne Grace, Cabana, Bully Ray, and Gordon were the participants in the battle royal.

Flip Gordon on ‘All Out’, making ROH his home

By Gary Mehaffy for F4WOnline.com

All In is one of the most eagerly anticipated wrestling events of the year…unless you’re Flip Gordon, who, as of this writing, still isn’t booked on the show.

However, he is hosting a party in association with Pro Wrestling Tees called All Out: a pre-show event in the Sears Centre parking lot for those going to the event.

I recently spoke with Gordon on the All In show, why he hopes his “friends” that are involved with it do well, and his insight into just how hard Cody and The Young Bucks are working on the show.

Other topics included why he decided to make Ring of Honor his home promotion, why he thought he blew his 2017 tryout with them, how he combined his Army Reserve training with his wrestling dates, his work for New Japan Pro Wrestling, having the opportunity to wrestle Rey Mysterio for Northeast Wrestling, who he would love to face, and much, much more.

ROH TV results: Bully Ray attacks Flip Gordon, six-man tag main event

Episode #359 of Ring of Honor television was taped in Fairfax, Virginia at the end of June.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes defeated The Bouncers (Brian Milonas & Beer City Bruiser) in a non-title match

This was a non-title tag team match featuring the largest team in ROH history. The Bouncers weighed in at 772 pounds. This is the ninth title reign for The Briscoes.

The size of the Bouncers was too much for The Briscoes to overcome at first. Jay Briscoe and Beer City Bruiser then had a stiff forearm exchange. The Briscoes sent The Bouncers to the floor, and each Briscoe brother landed a flip dive. Jay did a running flip over the top rope and Mark landed a twisting flip off the top turnbuckle to the floor.

After the break, The Bouncers were squishing Mark with big man moves, which included a combo slam and leg drop. A sandwich by the big men sent Jay to the floor, but Beer City Bruiser missed a flip dive. That allowed The Briscoes to double up on Milonas and lay him out. Jay hoisted the Bruiser up on his shoulders and landed a DVD for a two count.

Mark hit a blockbuster from the apron to the floor on Milonas, which allowed Jay to connect with a neckbreaker, followed by a Froggy Elbow from Mark. That combination earned The Briscoes the pin on Bruiser.

The Briscoes then called out SoCal Uncensored. All three members of SCU came to the ring. Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian attacked The Briscoes. This brought out security members to separate the teams.

Madison Rayne defeated Tenille Dashwood, Kelly Klein, and Karen Q in a four corner survival number one contender’s match

A pre-taped promo aired for each wrestler as they came to the ring.

Karen Q immediately bailed and let Klein take over on her own. Rayne and Dashwood had a quick exchange with a few pin attempts. Q came in and took a double suplex for her efforts. Rayne hit a head scissors on Dashwood. Q jumped on Rayne and hit a snap suplex, but Dashwood broke up the pin.

They did a four-woman stack up spot in the corner, which resulted in Klein landing a double powerbomb and suplex on the other three.

After the break, Dashwood had all three in separate corners and was able to connect with the Taste of Tenille on each. Klein had Q on her shoulders and caught Rayne in a crossbody and slammed both at once.

Dashwood hit the Spotlight on Klein. Q attempted to steal the pin, but Klein kicked out. This allowed Rayne to hit the Rayne Check on Q for the win.

Rayne is now the number one contender for the Women of Honor Championship. Sumie Sakai came out to stare down Rayne.

Cody and Brandi Rhodes came to the ring for a promo. Cody said he was unlucky in his last two ROH title opportunities. He called out Burnard the Business Bear, but Nick Aldis came out instead.

Aldis asked what was in it for him — in reference to their NWA Championship match at All In. Cody then baited Aldis to accept the challenge by offering his “Ring of Honor” ring as collateral. They got into each other’s faces after Cody said that all Aldis did was beat a 53-year-old history teacher (Tim Storm) for the NWA title, but the Bullet Club came out to separate them.

Bully Ray, Punishment Martinez & Shane Taylor defeated Cheeseburger, Josh Woods & Colt Cabana

This was supposed to be a six-man tag team match, but Bully Ray jumped Flip Gordon on his way to the ring, which made it a handicap match to start things off.

Woods was able to get in some early offense on Taylor. Cheeseburger demanded to be tagged in to face Ray. Taylor cheated to cut off Cheeseburger with a distraction. Taylor landed an immense chop on poor Cheeseburger.

Taylor knocked Woods off the apron, which made time for Cheeseburger to hit a tornado DDT. Cheeseburger had no one to tag, so Colt Cabana came down from the announce table to accept the tag. He ran wild and landed a springboard moonsault on Taylor and stuck Ray with a spear.

Cheeseburger tagged back in and landed a double stomp on Ray. Cabana did a dive to the floor, but that allowed Taylor to hit a sit-down piledriver on Cheeseburger for the win.

Ray and Taylor beat down Cabana and Cheeseburger with a chain until Gordon made the save with a steel chair. The bad guys fled before Gordon could get his hands on Ray.

ROH Honor for All results: Nick Aldis vs. Flip Gordon

Image: NWA. Live notes from Lee Thomas contributed to this report.

– Jay Lethal, who recently denied the allegations that he told Taeler Hendrix she was taken off television due to not sleeping with him, was conspicuous by his absence as he was scheduled to defend the ROH World Championship against Silas Young at one point. It will be interesting to see if he’s at tonight’s TV tapings in Atlanta.

Hendrix made the allegations earlier this month after departing ROH in April 2017. She claimed that she left “once the office did nothing” about the situation.

– Dark match: The Boys defeated The Carnies (Nick Iggy & Kerry Awful)

The Boys won with a middle turnbuckle codebreaker. The Carnies had a decent amount of fans since they are fairly well known in local circles.

– ROH Television Champion Punishment Martinez defeated Scorpio Sky to retain his title

Martinez retained with the South of Heaven chokeslam shortly after hitting a stomp on the apron.

– Women of Honor Champion Sumie Sakai defeated Karen Q in a Proving Ground match

Karen Q would have gotten a future title shot if she won, but Sakai pinned her here.

Q brought a chair into the ring and put the Women of Honor title belt on the apron. When the referee took the chair, she threw the belt to Sakai and faked like Sakai was trying to use it. Q attempted to capitalize on the distraction, but Sakai countered into the pin.

– Jonathan Gresham defeated Shane Taylor, Kenny King, and Chris Sabin in a four corner survival match

Taylor took King and Sabin out with a cannonball off the apron before throwing them into the guardrails. Gresham then dove like he was going for a suicide dive but jumped on Taylor and put him in a sleeper. He had been going for the sleeper earlier in the match. Taylor got back in the ring with Gresham still having the hold locked on. The referee called for the bell as Taylor passed out.

It was hyped that Gresham put himself in TV title contention with the win.

– Chuckie T defeated Bully Ray by DQ

Before the match, Bully Ray disingenuously said he has no problems with Taylor because he’s not a young boy and came up in the business correctly, is a fan of some of the things Taylor has done, and mentioned that PWG is kind of like ECW. He said he’d be more than happy to wrestle Taylor, but Taylor asked if Bully thinks he’s an idiot. He said he’s seen what Bully has done and none of the wrestlers want him in ROH anymore.

Bully pushed referee Todd Sinclair into the ropes to crotch Taylor near the start of the match. Bully then low blowed Taylor for the disqualification.

Bully pushed Sinclair down after and started hitting Taylor with a chain. Colt Cabana tried to make the save but was beaten down as well. Trent Barreta made his return from injury, spearing Bully and chasing him off.

– Silas Young, Beer City Bruiser & The Dawgs (Rhett Titus & Will Ferrara) defeated Cheeseburger, Eli Isom, Ryan Nova & FR Josie

Bruiser pinned Josie with a frog splash following a powerbomb from Young.

– Marty Scurll defeated Vinny Marseglia

Matt Taven was supposed to face Scurll, but he came out without wrestling gear on and holding a bag. He said the real ROH World title was in it, claiming that the company is holding him down and he should have won the last title match. He refused to reveal the title in a city like Nashville.

Taven said Scurll has failed whenever he’s challenged for the title and doesn’t deserve to face the real champion. He joined in on commentary after bringing Marseglia out to face Scurll.

Scurll countered into a chicken wing for the submission finish. Taven and TK O’Ryan ran in to attack Scurll after, with Cody Rhodes coming in to make the save. Officials broke things up until only Cody and O’Ryan were left.

– Cody defeated TK O’Ryan

Brandi Rhodes and Burnard the Business Bear came out during the match to accompany Cody. O’Ryan taunted Brandi and hit Cody with the Six-Man Tag Team title belt when Brandi tried to get into the ring, but he only got a two count.

O’Ryan shoved the referee and the referee shoved him back, with Cody rolling up O’Ryan for a near fall. Cody then hit Cross Rhodes to win.

– NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis defeated Flip Gordon to retain his title

Cody stuck around on commentary for this match. The story of it was that Gordon didn’t win the title and failed to secure his place on All In, but he seemingly earned Cody’s respect.

The match was restarted at one point. Aldis hit a piledriver and an elbow drop, but Gordon’s foot was on the rope when Aldis pinned him. Cody joined the referees who were discussing the finish, pointing out that the pin shouldn’t have counted. Gordon got a close near fall with the Star Spangled Stunner, but he passed out in a cloverleaf for the finish.

Both Aldis and Cody showed Gordon respect after the match. Cody raised Gordon’s hand and then left, with Bully Ray coming out and attacking Gordon to continue their feud.

– The Young Bucks defeated ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes and SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) in a non-title three-way match

All of the Bullet Club guys on the show were really over. The Young Bucks hit the Meltzer Driver on Mark Briscoe to win a fun main event.

After the match, Daniels and Kazarian hung around while The Young Bucks put them over on the microphone. SCU were almost babyface-like in their thanks, but they did their gimmick where they said Nashville was the worst town they’ve ever wrestled in.

Flip Gordon loses NWA title match at ROH Honor for All

While there were some developments, the storyline of Flip Gordon trying to get booked for All In wasn’t settled at ROH Honor for All.

Gordon unsuccessfully challenged for Nick Aldis’ NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at Friday night’s show in Nashville, Tennessee. But the story of the match was Gordon seemingly earning Cody Rhodes’ respect.

There was an angle where the match was restarted at one point. Aldis got the pin after hitting a piledriver and elbow drop, but Gordon’s foot was on the rope. Cody was on commentary and joined the referees who were discussing the finish, pointing out that the pin shouldn’t have been counted. Gordon got a near fall with the Star Spangled Stunner but ended up passing out in a cloverleaf.

Both Aldis and Cody showed respect to Gordon after the match. Cody (who wasn’t mic’d) spoke to Gordon in the ring and raised his hand. Bully Ray then attacked Gordon after Cody left, continuing the feud they’ve been having in ROH.

Cody is set to challenge for the NWA title at All In on September 1 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The only other match that’s been announced at this point is Kazuchika Okada vs. Marty Scurll.

Flip Gordon to challenge for NWA title at ROH Honor for All

The storyline of Flip Gordon trying to get booked for All In will continue at Ring of Honor’s show in Nashville, Tennessee later this month.

At the end of a video that was uploaded by the NWA today, it was revealed that NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis’ next title defense will be against Gordon at “Honor for All” on July 20. The show is taking place at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville and will air live on HonorClub.

The storyline is that Cody Rhodes won’t book Gordon for All In, and Gordon has fallen short in every opportunity he’s been given to be added to the show. But whoever is NWA Champion on September 1 will defend the title against Cody at All in.

ROH Television Champion Punishment Martinez defending against Scorpio Sky, Women of Honor Champion Sumie Sakai vs. Karen Q in a non-title match, ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes vs. The Young Bucks vs. Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian in a non-title match, Marty Scurll vs. Matt Taven, Cody vs. TK O’Ryan, and Kenny King vs. Shane Taylor vs. Chris Sabin vs. Jonathan Gresham are also set for Honor for All.
