Ace Romero added to AEW Over Budget Battle Royale

Another participant has been confirmed for the Over Budget Battle Royale at AEW Double or Nothing.

On this week’s Road to Double or Nothing episode, it was announced that Ace Romero will be an entrant in the Over Budget Royale. The episode showed a clip of a match where Romero hit a Pounce inside the ring that sent his opponent flying over the top rope.

Romero, Sonny Kiss, Kip Sabian, and Brandon Cutler are the wrestlers who have been announced for the Over Budget Battle Royale thus far. The winner will receive a “really great incentive,” but that incentive has yet to be revealed.

Double or Nothing is taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday May 25.

Romero wrestles for MLW and will be an entrant in their 40-man Battle Riot match at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York on Friday, April 5. The Battle Riot match will air as part of a two-hour live special on beIN Sports.

This week’s Road to Double or Nothing episode was dedicated to Luke Perry, who passed away on Monday after suffering a stroke on February 27. AEW’s Jungle Boy (Jack Perry) is Perry’s son.

Over Budget Battle Royale returning for AEW Double or Nothing

One of the match types from All In is returning for All Elite Wrestling’s first show.

Episode four of AEW’s “Road to Double or Nothing” series was uploaded today. It was announced that the Over Budget Battle Royale is returning for Double or Nothing, with Sonny Kiss, United Kingdom wrestler Kip Sabian, and Brandon Cutler being spotlighted as three of the entrants for the match.

Cody Rhodes mentioned that they have a “really great incentive” for the battle royal winner but said he can’t speak about that now.

Kiss made his first appearance for AEW at this month’s ticket announcement party. Cutler is returning to the Over Budget Battle Royale after having been an entrant in last year’s match.

The first Over Budget Battle Royale aired on the “Zero Hour” portion of All In. Flip Gordon, who wasn’t announced for the match in advance, entered dressed as Chico El Luchador and eliminated Bully Ray to win. Gordon received an ROH World Championship shot against Jay Lethal on the All In main card as a stipulation of winning the battle royal.

Double or Nothing is taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, May 25.

Episode four of the Road to Double or Nothing is available to watch below:

Flip Gordon gets booked for All In

It took until after the show started, but the storyline of Flip Gordon getting booked for All In finally came to an end as part of the Over Budget Battle Royale.

Gordon won the battle royal after dressing up as Chico El Luchador. The story for the match was that Gordon was powerbombed through a table outside the ring by Bully Ray as it started. He sold on the outside until Bully Ray eliminated Colt Cabana and appeared to have the match won. Gordon came into the ring, superkicked Bully Ray, unmasked, and threw him out.

Gordon and Bully Ray have also been involved in a feud for Ring of Honor.

Gordon will challenge for Jay Lethal’s ROH World Championship on the All In main card.

Moose, Brandon Cutler, Trent Barreta, Chuck Taylor, Rocky Romero, Cheeseburger, Shane “Hurricane” Helms, Ethan Page, Tommy Dreamer, Jimmy Jacobs, Punishment Martinez, Austin Gunn, Billy Gunn, Marko Stunt, Brian Cage, Jordynne Grace, Cabana, Bully Ray, and Gordon were the participants in the battle royal.

All In: Zero Hour will air exclusively on WGN America at 6 p.m. Eastern time, with the battle royal and The Briscoes vs. Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky airing on that portion of the broadcast. The four-hour main card will then air live via pay-per-view, Fite TV, and HonorClub.
