AEW Dynamite ratings rebound from last week’s low
Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 584,000 viewers on TBS, up 23.7 percent from last week. Despite the rebound, this is still tied for the third-lowest audience total the show has done since May 21.
In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite drew a 0.13 rating. That’s up 18.2 percent from last week but ties the second-lowest number the show has ever done in that category on a Wednesday night.
There was no major sports competition on the night, although ratings for news stations were likely up from normal. The placements on the cable charts aren’t currently available.
As compared to the same week in 2024, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 18.4 percent while the 18-49 rating was down 38.1 percent. This year’s numbers do not include viewership on HBO Max, which likely explains why the younger audience is so much further down.
Listed below are the last 11 weeks of viewership totals and 18-49 demo ratings for Dynamite, as well as the 10-week average in both categories. This week’s show was down 3.5 percent in overall viewers and 13.3 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages.

- Shawn Michaels told Undisputed that WWE is in good hands with Cody Rhodes leading the way:
- You’re always comforted when you’re handing over the reins of this business to someone that respects it, honors it, and enjoys it. That gives all of us a lot of peace and comfort.
- When Cody comes into the Performance Center, it’s very fortunate for us. He wants to pass it on to the next generation and echoes a lot of what we say. That’s a huge help and comfort to everyone in WWE. You know the business is in good hands moving into the future.
- WWE 2K25 – which was first released back in March – is being added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Starting on September 16, it will be available for Playstation Plus subscribers at no additional cost.
- WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter told Sportskeeda WrestleBinge that he thinks Logan Paul has the potential to be the biggest babyface in wrestling history if he turns in the future and it’s done the right way:
- I don’t think he has too many weaknesses. He still rushes things a little bit. I would love to be there, but I know he’s got plenty of pros that are telling him what to do or how to do it. But he’s a natural… he’s at home. It takes a lot and a long time to make that ring your second home. So when you walk in there and become that character, it’s night and day. If he continues, I don’t know how long he’s going to continue, but John Cena is leaving, he’s probably going to be hanging up the boots. You got The Rock who makes appearances back and forth, but there’s no real superstar right now.
- Once [Paul] establishes himself as the biggest villain, he’ll be the biggest hero of all time. I think he’ll surpass every hero we’ve ever had in this business.

- Healing nicely. Baby steps but I am #BabySteppin. Trust the process. AINT NOBODY GONNA STOP ME WHEN I GET BACK…………IM THE LAST OF MY KIND
- TSN spoke with Don Callis, who discussed how AEW is different from other promotions he’s worked for:
- One of the great things about being in AEW is that Tony Khan actually lets me be myself. Like, he puts me out there, of course, but he lets me be Don Callis and he has faith in me and, at the end of the day, from a boss in wrestling, that is ultimately all you want – someone who will let you go out and succeed or fail on your own merits and give you the platform and the support. And AEW really is the first place I’ve ever been that does that.

Tony Khan explains decision to add Bryan Danielson to AEW commentary team
Tony Khan is happy to give fans a more regular opportunity to hear from Bryan Danielson.
Over the weekend, it was announced that Danielson is joining the AEW Dynamite commentary team on a full-time basis. His first night in that new role will be this Wednesday when Dynamite is held at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia during the last week of AEW’s residency at the venue.
The announcement of Danielson now being a full-time announcer came after he received high praise for his guest commentary at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025. While appearing on the Battleground Podcast, Tony Khan explained why he thought Danielson was a great fit for that pay-per-view and now the Dynamite broadcast team.
“As we were preparing for Forbidden Door, I thought Bryan would be fantastic on the commentary team for that show,” Khan said. “Knowing the background he has, knowing his insights into pro wrestling, and how prepared he is and how much research he does on pro wrestling worldwide. Knowing the stars competing at Forbidden Door, coming from different promotions — stars from Mexico and Japan and traveling from all over the world to compete at that show in London.
“Also, I think Bryan’s a great star and people want to see Bryan Danielson on television and hear Bryan Danielson on television. And thankfully, he’s got very intelligent, insightful things to say when he does talk. So I really thought Bryan would be a great part of the commentary team, and he did a fantastic job on Forbidden Door. I had talked to him maybe after his promotional tour of Australia was complete about Bryan joining us on Wednesday. And it worked out perfect. He’ll be joining us tomorrow night on Wednesday Night Dynamite as a host, a commentator, providing his really, really valuable insights into pro wrestling.
“I think it’s great anytime we’re able to bring on Bryan Danielson to do anything in AEW, but especially to provide very, very intelligent, insightful commentary on pro wrestling. That’s a great thing in AEW that we have now with Bryan Danielson as a host on Wednesday Night Dynamite starting tomorrow.”
The 44-year-old Danielson ended his full-time career in the ring when he dropped the AEW World Championship 11 months ago. He hasn’t fully closed the book on the idea of competing again in the future, but Danielson is very fulfilled by where his life is right now.
Bryan Danielson joining AEW commentary team full-time
Bryan Danielson has a new full-time role with AEW.
Starting this Wednesday (September 10), Danielson will be a member of the AEW Dynamite commentary team on a full-time basis. He recently did commentary at AEW & NJPW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view and earned praise for his performance.
The announcement was made on X/Twitter today by Tony Khan, who did not say if it will be a four-man commentary team going forward or if there will be any changes. Excalibur, Taz & Tony Schiavone are the regular broadcast team for Dynamite.
The legendary Danielson wrapped up his full-time career in the ring when he dropped the AEW World Championship in October 2024. He still makes occasional appearances for the promotion and contributes behind the scenes. Danielson, 44, has not fully closed the book on ever competing again, but he feels fulfilled with his career and doesn’t have anything left on his bucket list.
“With the last six months of my wrestling career being in as much pain as I was, that put me in this thing of ‘I think I’m ready to be done,’” he said on a recent media tour to promote AEW’s return to Australia in 2026. “I’m very fulfilled by my career, very fulfilled by my life right now, and I still get to stay involved with professional wrestling which is something I love to this day.”
Wednesday’s Dynamite is taking place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. It’s the final week of AEW’s residency at the former ECW Arena.
AEW Dynamite draws record low ratings for Wednesday episode
Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite episode averaged 472,000 viewers on TBS — a 19.3 percent drop from last week. This is the lowest audience total for the show since October 8 of last year (when Dynamite was moved to Tuesday and went against WWE NXT) and is the lowest viewership the show has ever done on a Wednesday night.
Dynamite drew a 0.11 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s a decline of 15.4 percent from last week and is also the lowest number the show has done since October 8, 2024. It’s the second-lowest rating Dynamite has done in its history regardless of day or time slot.
According to Wrestlenomics, Dynamite finished approximately seventh on cable for the night in the key demo.
As compared to the same week in 2024, the show’s overall viewership was down 28.5 percent while the 18-49 rating was down 42.1 percent. This year’s numbers do not include viewers watching the show on HBO Max.

AEW breaking tradition for Thanksgiving eve Dynamite episode
AEW is breaking one of its long-held traditions this November with the Thanksgiving eve episode of Dynamite set to be held somewhere other than Chicago.
Except for the pandemic year of 2020, the Chicago area has hosted the pre-Thanksgiving edition of Dynamite ever since AEW was founded. That won’t be the case this year, though, with AEW announcing today that the Wednesday, November 26 episode of Dynamite will take place at The Pinnacle in Nashville, Tennessee.
