The AEW Women’s World Championship will be on the line this evening. Riho will defend the title against number one contender Kris Statlander.

Cody and Dustin Rhodes will face The Lucha Bros in tag team action. Cody is also scheduled to respond to MJF’s demands from last week. MJF stated that he would only face Cody at Revolution, that they could not touch before then, that Cody agree to 10 lashes from MJF’s belt on Dynamite, and that Cody beat Wardlow in a cage match.

Kenny Omega and Hangman Page will face Private Party in a tag team match. Jurassic Express will face Best Friends and Orange Cassidy in a trios match. Rounding out the card, Sammy Guevara will face Christopher Daniels in singles competition following their backstage confrontation last week.

A tribute to legends of Memphis wrestling has also been announced. Angelo Poffo, Randy Savage, Lance Russell, Dave Brown, Eddie Gilbert, Tommy Gilbert, Brian Christopher, Austin Idol, Jimmy Valiant, and The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express are those announced as being honored.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opened with a recap of The Elite’s big win in last week’s main event and Hangman’s decision not to celebrate with them.

Dave Brown joined Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone on commentary for the opening match. That was super cool. Brown didn’t say much, but put over everyone in the match.

HANGMAN PAGE & KENNY OMEGA DEFEATED PRIVATE PARTY

Quen and Page started out with a tackle-drop down-leapfrog sequence. Quen took over with a dropsault. Kassidy hit a double stomp off the top rope. Page came back with a suplex, then tagged Omega.

Omega and Page hit some tandem chops and high-fived, showing that they’re on the same page. Kassidy hit Omega with a flatliner. Quen and Page tagged in. Quen hit four consecutive dives to the outside in an impressive sequence. Quen hit a 450 on Page for a near fall.

Kassidy went for a springboard attack but got caught with a boot. Quen jumped in and Page hit a fall-away slam. Page tagged Omega. Omega hit a V-Trigger to Kassidy. Quen entered and ate a snap dragon. The distraction allowed Kassidy to hit Omega with Silly String for a two count.

Quen missed with a shooting star press on Omega. Page went for a Bucshot Lariat. Quen ducked and Omega almost got hit with the lariat, but Page stopped himself. They did a couple of spots where Page and Omega crashed into each other by mistake.

Private Party hit Gin ‘n’ Juice on Omega. Page broke up the pin. Quen used Omega as a base for a flip kick on Page, continuing to tease dissension. Omega hit the One-Winged Angel on Quen and pinned him.

Page and Omega fist-bumped after the match.

They then decided to re-do the angle from a few weeks ago where PAC attacked Michael Nakazawa backstage. Omega ran off to make the save. Page stayed at ringside and drank beer with fans.

**********

After a break, the announcers discussed the rest of the card. Brandi Rhodes joined the commentary team. Excalibur asked what her interest was in the upcoming title match. Brandi said she wasn’t interested and was only there because she was invited. That was super weird.

Hikaru Shida and Britt Baker were shown sitting ringside.

Brandi also said that Statlander isn’t an alien, she’s a woman with face paint and we’re all stupid for playing into this. She said she doubts Britt Baker is a doctor because she seems dense, then buried Excalibur for wearing a mask.

AEW WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: RIHO DEFEATED KRIS STATLANDER TO RETAIN THE TITLE

Statlander missed a legdrop. Riho hit a stomp, then Statlander blocked a 619. She hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, then used a modified abdominal stretch into a lateral press for a two count.

Statlander used a chinlock during a commercial break. Riho came back with double knees in the corner. Statlander answered with an electric chair drop and a legdrop for a two count.

Back from commercials, Statlander missed a moonsault. Riho hit a northern lights suplex for a near fall. Statlander hit a delayed vertical suplex off the second rope, into a double down.

Kong and Mel Cruise came to ringside during the double down. Riho and Statlander traded strikes. Statlander hit Cruise with a tope suicida. She went for one on Kong, but got caught. “Japanese Deathmatch Legend Luther” crawled out from under the ring and got hit with a crossbody off the post by Riho.

Back in the ring, Riho missed a double stomp. Statlander teased a press slam. Riho hit a crucifix bomb for a near fall. Statlander hit a discus elbow and a falcon arrow for a two count.

The finish saw Statlander go for a piledriver near the ropes. Kong tripped Statlander from the floor. Riho used a cradle and got the pin.

Kong jumped in after the match and attacked Statlander. Riho tried to save but got laid out. Shida jumped the rail and made the save. Britt Baker refused to enter the fray. Big Swole and Sonny Kiss entered to save as well, as Nightmare Collective retreated.

The match was alright, but was really just a backdrop to the Nightmare Collective stuff. This felt like a miss. The crowd was more into the competitors in the match than the angle.

**********

SAMMY GUEVARA DEFEATED CHRISTOPHER DANIELS

They didn’t get a lot of time and this was rushed. It was also more about the angle than the match.

Guevara hit a Samoan drop, then missed a 450. Daniels hit an exploder. They traded chops. Daniels hit a dropkick and a clothesline, then a sit-out powerbomb for a two count.

Daniels called for Angel’s Wings. Guevara blocked, hit a running knee, then used a standing shooting star for a two count. Daniels used a backslide for a two count. They hit simultaneous lariats.

Daniels hit an STO. He teased a BME. Pentagon interrupted from the stage with a promo, daring Daniels to “show him.” Guevara hit a kick to the back of the head and pinned Daniels.

Evil Uno and Dark Order came to the ring after the match to try to recruit Daniels. He turned them down. Dark Order started attacking Daniels. SCU and the Young Bucks made the save and cleared the ring.

Another angle, another miss.

**********

CODY & DUSTIN RHODES (W/ARN ANDERSON) DEFEATED THE LUCHA BROS.

Cody and Pentagon started off. Penta did his trademark taunts. Cody hit a drop-down right hand. Dustin and Fenix got tags and did a couple of spots. Dustin blocked a pop-up cutter. All four climbed in and faced off. The Lucha Bros cut off Dustin after a suicide dive.

During a break, Fenix worked over Dustin. Dustin sold like his left knee went out. Penta tagged in and kicked at the left leg.

After the break, Fenix grabbed a chair and jumped on the apron. Arn kicked the chair away. Dustin hit a spinebuster and made a hot tag to Cody.

Cody hit a tope to Penta on the ramp, ten punches in the ocrner on Fenix, then tossed his weight belt into the crowd. Fenix blocked a Cross Rhodes attempt and hit a pop-up cutter. Fenix ran the top rope and hit a kick. Penta spiked Cody on his head and shoulder with a driver.

Dustin got a tag and hit a powerslam to Penta, then a destroyer on Fenix. Cody hit a Cody Cutter to Penta. Dustin hit Final Reckoning on Fenix for the pin.

Tony Schiavone went to the ring to interview Cody and see if he would agree to MJF’s demands. Arn interrupted and said he and Cody will talk about it this week. No answer.

**********

Alex Marvez interviewed Lanny Poffo. Lanny put over the Memphis legends and the AEW product.

**********

MJF came to the ring with Wardlow for a promo. He gave Cody a ten count to come out and face him like a man. MJF said Cody was a little bitch.

DDP’s music hit. Page put over DDPY, AEW, his Twitter account and his Instagram. He called MJF a motormouth jackoff. MJF checked his phone in the corner while DDP did his shtick.

DDP said if you’d told him 19 years ago that he’d be in the ring, live on TNT, he’s have said you were smoking crack. DDP said fans have been asking him if he’s coming back for one more match.

MJF called out Butcher, Blade and Bunny. He said the average age of DDP’s fans was dead. He said he would send him straight to hospice, then take one of his daughters and make her feel the bang.

DDP went after MJF. Butcher and Blade jumped in. DDP hit both with Diamond Cutters. MJF kicked Page low and taunted Cody, saying he just laid out his mentor. QT Marshall and Dustin Rhodes ran in to save DDP. MJF retreated.

I would categorize this angle as rushed, but good. This also felt like a reboot of an angle I saw about a month ago. Still, the first good angle of the night.

**********

JURASSIC EXPRESS DEFEATED BEST FRIENDS & ORANGE CASSIDY

Jungle Boy and Taylor started. Jungle Boy hit a nice springboard armdrag. Trent and Stunt tagged in. Stunt psyched himself up. He used a cradle for a two count, then tagged out. Jungle Boy and Stunt hit a ripchord elbow/legrop combo for a near fall on Trent.

After an ad break, Taylor used a falcon arrow on Jungle Boy for a two count. Jungle Boy hit a clothesline and tagged Luchasaurus. Luchasaurus ran wild with kicks. Cassidy tagged in and hit his kicks. Luchasaurus went for a chokeslam but Cassidy turned it into a cutter.

The match broke down. Trent hit a spear on Jungle Boy. Cassidy hit a top rope elbow. Stunt hit a double stomp, a DDT, then hit Trent with a destroyer. Luchasarus threw Stunt onto Cassidy and Trent.

Taylor went for a powerbomb, but Jungle Boy turned it into a victory roll for the pin, picking up his first AEW win. This was fun.

**********

PAC vs. Darby Allin was announced for next week, as was Statlander and Shida vs. Awesome Kong and Mel, and Butcher, Blade and MJF vs. QT Marshall, Dustin Rhodes and DDP.

Chris Jericho, Santana and Ortiz vs. Jurassic Express was announced for Dynamite in two weeks.

**********

Jericho, Guevara and Jake Hager entered for the main event angle. During a break, Guevara proposed a booty call to Salma Hayek.

**********

Jericho introduced Moxley as his friend and protege. Jericho said it’s an important day in Memphis, not because it’s Elvis’s birthday. He said Elvis was a jackass, the Beatles are better, and if Elvis were here he’d kick his ass.

Jericho said the GT is gassed up, the party is ready, they’re just waiting for Mox to accept.

Moxley said no one knows his motivations. Moxley said he can’t be bought. He didn’t come to AEW for money. He came to dominate. And that’s why his answer is…

Yes.

Moxley unzipped his jacket to reveal a Mox/Inner Circle shirt. He said what better way to dominate than to join the most dominant force. He said to be the best, you have to learn from the best, and Jericho is the best. He said they’ll dominate AEW for years to come.

Moxley said all that’s left is to pop open a little bit of the bubbly. Jericho called for music. They sprayed champagne and celebrated.

Moxley said Jericho forgot something. The car keys. Jericho turned over the keys to the GT, worth $750,000, more than all the fans in the building make combined.

The crowd chanted that Moxley sold out. Moxley said he bought a 2015 Dodge Ram with cash and he had planned to drive it until the wheels fell off, but now he’s riding in style.

Moxley said he forgot one last thing…

He told Jericho he was kidding. He’d never join him, Inner Circle was a stupid group and he has nothing that he wants except the AEW title.

Moxley broke a champagne bottle over Jericho’s head and hit him with a Paradigm Shift. Guevara got a Paradigm Shift as well.

Hager jumped in and Moxley retreated through the crowd as the show ended.

**********

The show closed with a strong angle and the DDP angle was well done, but the other angles on this show were a combination of misfires and bad reboots that were bad the first time too.

The wrestling continues to be the strong point of the show. More of that, please.

AEW Dynamite live results: Homecoming episode

AEW Dynamite airs live tonight from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

The company’s first event of 2020 is being branded as the Homecoming edition of the show, with AEW being headquartered in Jacksonville.

A packed lineup has been announced for the event. Cody vs. Darby Allin is a featured bout. The two teamed on the final Dynamite of 2019 in a winning effort against The Butcher and The Blade. They also met once before in singles action in AEW, going to a 20-minute draw at Fyter Fest in June.

Jon Moxley is set to take on Trent in singles action. Moxley is also expected to respond to Chris Jericho’s offer to join The Inner Circle. Jericho has promised a surprise for Moxley on the show as well.

The AEW Women’s World Championship will be on the line Riho as defends in a four-way match against Hikaru Shida, Nyla Rose, and Britt Baker. A previously announced Riho vs. Kris Statlander title match was changed when Statlander was pulled due to having a prior booking for Bar Wrestling.

Also announced are Sammy Guevara vs. Dustin Rhodes in a singles match, and The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega vs. The Lucha Brothers and PAC in a six-man tag.

MJF is scheduled to appear and will give his stipulations for a future match against Cody. Taz will also be on hand providing guest color commentary.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opened with a video package detailing The Elite’s string of bad luck, from Jericho winning the AEW title, to getting destroyed by the Creepers, to Cody being betrayed by MJF. The video said that tonight will prove whether or not The Elite is still elite.

We got a Darby Allin video package before his entrance. He was accompanied to the entrance stage by a singer. Taz identified him as the singer for Ghost Machine, I think. There was no graphic identifying him. Excalibur thanked Taz for explaining who the random dude was.

Arn Anderson appeared on the entrance stage, then Cody’s music hit. Arn was identified as the Head Coach of the Nightmare Family, a founding member of the 4 Horsemen, and a legend.

CODY DEFEATED DARBY ALLIN

Cody and Allin locked up. Cody used a shoulder block for a quick one count. The two traded a series of cradles. Each teased their finisher, both men blocked.

Cody dumped Allin over the top rope to the floor. Arn seems to be doing a football coach gimmick. He carries a stack of papers and covers his mouth with them when he’s coaching Cody so that his lips can’t be read.

Allin dropped Cody on the apron, then nailed him with a tope suicida. Cody got up selling his left arm. Allin jumped off the ropes into a kick from Cody. Allin went right back on offense, continuing to attack the left arm.

Cody used a figure four. Allin reached under the bottom rope and Cody gave up the hold. Allin hit a series of kicks to the left arm. Allin used a fujiwara armbar. Cody forced a break.

Allin exposed a turnbuckle. He teased sending Cody into the buckle. Cody shoved Allin off. Allin landed on his feet on the ramp. Allin hit a springboard crossbody. Cody reversed into a cover and a two count.

Cody hit a Cody Cutter for a two count at the ten minute mark. The ropes might be slick as both guys have had unsteady footing on springboard moves. Cody hit an inverted superplex for a two count.

During an ad break, Cody again used a figure four. Allin forced a break. Cody hit a slam on the ramp, then tossed Allin back inside. Cody teased a superplex. Allin turned it into a sunset bomb. They did a lengthy double down until the ad break ended.

Allin hit a stunner. He teased a Coffin Drop. Cody rolled to the apron. Allin then hit the Coffin Drop on the apron. Cody may have gotten his knees up. It was unclear from the replay and the announcers weren’t sure whether to sell it.

Cody tried a Cody Cutter, Allin blocked Cody hit Cross Rhodes but Allin kicked out at two.

Cody charged into the exposed buckle. Allin went for a Coffin Drop. Arn jumped on the apron and started slapping his knees. Cody got his knees up on the move, then used a schoolboy for the pin.

Good match. These guys work well together. Allin is a superstar.

**********

JR threw to Jenn Decker backstage. She interviewed SCU. SCU did a footbal-themed promo. They said the Young Bucks brought great offense but they beat them with great defense.

Sammy Guevara popped in and challenged Chistopher Daniels to a match next week.

**********

As Nyla Rose entered for the title match, they showed replays of the actions that got her suspended last month.

AEW WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: RIHO DEFEATED NYLA ROSE, HIKARU SHIDA & BRITT BAKER TO REATIN THE TITLE

Rose grabbed Riho’s title belt and knocked her to the floor with it before the opening bell. Rose set up a table on the floor. Rose powerbombed Riho onto Baker and covered for a two count Shida broke up the pinfall.

Rose hit a guillotine knee drop off the top rope to Shida. Rose put Shida on the table, then hit a senton through the table. Riho hit a doube stomp from the top to the apron on Rose. Baker hit a draping DDT on Rose, then went for Lockjaw. Rose powerbombed out and covered for a two count.

Riho hit a pair of double stomps on Rose for a near fall Baker hit Riho with a swinging neckbreaker for a two count. Shida superplexed Baker from the apron back into the ring. Shida hit a backbreaker on Baker. Rose hit a slam on Shda, then slammed Riho onto Shida. Rose went for a swanton bomb but missed.

Riho hit a meteora on Rose for a two count. Shida hit Riho with a falcon arrow for a two count. Baker hit a superkick on Shida and went for Lockjaw. Shida turned it into a cradle for a near fall. Riho jumped on top of Baker and trapped her in a cradle for the pin. Another good match. All action. Any perceived weaknesses were well-hidden.

Baker kicked out immediately after the three count.

Rose attacked Riho after the match. She hit a second rope splash through a table on the champion.

**********

The announcers threw to Alex Marvez backstage. Marvez asked Joey Janela a question. The audio was awful, but it didn’t really matter. Penelope Ford hit Janela with a low blow from behind. Ford and Kip Sabian walked off together.

**********

We got a Dark Order video package. Uno was addressing an “exalted one” and said that the mission was done. They have decimated The Elite. The announcers did well to drive the point of the video home after, as I would not have picked up on the exalted one reference. So it appears Dark Order are serving a higher power.

**********

JON MOXLEY DEFEATED TRENT

The two traded headlock takeovers. Moxley hit some chops. Trent hit double knees for a two count. Moxley dropped Trent on the top rope chest-first before a commercial break. Moxley used a single-leg crab during the break. We saw some action picture-in-picture before a full ad break.

Back from break, Trent hit a tope. The two traded powerbombs for near falls. Orange Cassidy jumped in the ring for a spot, leading to Trent hitting a knee strike and a spike piledriver for a two count.

Moxley came back with a Paradigm Shift on the ramp, then hit a second in the ring for the pin.

Not sure why the number one contender is having a long back-and-forth match with Trent, but okay.

**********

Sammy Guevara came to the ring while Moxley was still celebrating. Guevara threw to a pre-taped video from Chris Jericho.

Jericho said he knows Moxley coud join the Nightmare Collective, but he wants to offer him the position of executive vice president of The Inner Circle.

Jericho offered Moxley a Ford GT with a MOX vanity plate. Moxley said he’s always considered Jericho a friend, and he’ll answer Jericho in person next week.

Sammy Guevara did a Love Actually spoof during the commercial break.

**********

Guevara taunted Dustin Rhodes, who then attacked him at the opening bell of their match.

SAMMY GUEVARA DEFEATED DUSTIN RHODES

This was more of a backdrop for an angle and commercial breaks than an actual match.

Dustin hit a series of punches and a flip dive off the apron. Jake Hager came to the ring and stared down Rhodes. Guevara used the distraction to take over. Guevara used a cradle for a near fall, then hit some chops.

Guevara missed a charge into the corner. Rhodes grabbed a chair and appeared to swing it, but the picture-in-picture cut away, so who knows?

Back from break, Guevara had a chinlock applied. Guevara missed with a double stomp off the top. Rhodes hit a snap powerslam.

Rhodes hit some signature offense, including an inverted atomic drop and a punch to the throat. Rhodes hit a spinebuster for a two count. Guevara hit a standing shooting star for a two count.

Rhodes hit a destroyer on the apron. He went for a cover, but Hager jumped on the apron. Rhodes sent Guevara to the floor crashing into Hager.

Rhodes teased the old kick to the family jewels in the corner, now known as the Natural Kick. The ref jumped in the path of Rhodes before he could hit the kick. Hager jumped in and hit a low blow while Guevara took the ref. Guevara covered for the pin.

**********

JR threw to Jenn Decker. Decker was interviewing Private Party at a bar. Hangman Page was behind the bar. Private Party and Page jawed at each other, further teasing a Page heel turn. Again the audio in this segment was terrible.

**********

MJF and Wardlow entered. After a break, MJF cut a promo.

MJF said that roles have reversed and Cody needs him now. MJF said the only thing standing in the way of their match are a few tiny stipulations.

Stipulation 1: They wrestle at Revolution. If Cody touches MJF before the Revolution show, no match.

Stipulation 2: Cody has to beat Wardlow in a solid steel cage match.

Stipulation 3: Cody has to get on all fours and let MJF whip him ten times live on TNT.

Well then.

MJF said the scars from the leather of his belt will remind Cody that MJF is better than him and he knows it. A very good promo.

**********

Jenn Decker interviewed Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt and Luchasaurus. Jungle Boy said he’s coming off the biggest match of his career. This year will be big for the three of them as a team and as individuals.

Luchasaurus said something that was inaudible.

**********

Alex Marvez interviewed Riho backstage. Britt Baker interrupted and verbally assaulted Riho for taking time off. Baker said she’s been carrying the division and her dental practice on the side while Riho pops in and out. Riho said something. Michael Nakazawa translated. Couldn’t hear him.

These promos appeared to be pre-taped, which really makes the persistent audio issues less forgivable.

**********

Hangman Page joined the commentary team with drink in hand. A graphic nothed that he’s been drinking.

Private Party vs. Hangman Page and Kenny Omega was announced for next week.

Main event time.

**********

KENNY OMEGA & THE YOUNG BUCKS DEFEATED PAC & THE LUCHA BROTHERS

Omega and Pentagon began. Omega slapped Penta with his own glove. They traded chops. Omega hit a double dropkick and a double Kotaro Krusher on both Penta and Fenix.

Fenix and Nick tagged in and traded shoulder tackles. They had a hot sequence, trading arm drags and dropkicks. Fenix hit a rolling dropkick. They traded clotheslines and high kicks. The story being told was that these two know each other’s playbook.

During a break, the Bucks and Omega worked over Fenix. Fenix managed a tag to Penta who hit a destroyer on Omega right before they returned from the commercial.

PAC hit a space flying tiger drop. The Lucha Bros and PAC went to work on Omega. Omega made a hot tag to Nick. Nick was absolutely on fire. Nick hit a pop-up destroyer. The Bucks then hit stereo destroyers on both Lucha Bros.

Omega and PAC tagged in and traded hard strikes. PAC hit a snap German. Omega hit a V-Trigger to the back of the head, then a snap dragon. Omega hit a powerbomb. PEnta broke up a pinfall attempt.

Penta hit slingblades on Matt and Nick, then a backstabber on Omega. Fenix and Penta teased their finish. The Bucks blocked. Omega hit a snap dragon on Fenix. Fenix hit a pop-up cutter on Omega.

PAC hit Omega with a Black Arrow and made a cover. The Bucks saved.

PAC used the Brutalizer. Matt broke it up. Fenix tagged in and tried a springboard kick. Omega kicked him out of the air, then hit a One-Winged Angel for the pin.

A great main event and much-needed win for the Bucks and Omega.

Cody came to the ring to celebrate with The Elite. They all invited Page to join them, but he declined.

**********

This was a great show. Lots of good wrestling, and none of the timing issues and angles during breaks that have plagued the show over the last month. If they can just fix the audio on their backstage segments, they’ll finally be firing on all cylinders.

AEW Dynamite live results: Jericho vs. Jungle Boy, Tag title match

AEW Dynamite airs live tonight from the American Bank Center Arena in Corpus Christi, Texas. The final AEW event of 2019 features a stacked lineup.

The show will see SCU defend their AEW Tag Team titles against The Young Bucks. The Bucks scored a victory over Proud and Powerful last week to earn the title shot.

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho will face Jungle Boy in a non-title match with a 10-minute time limit. Jungle Boy is still searching for his first AEW victory.

In the opening match, Hangman Page and Kenny Omega will take on The Lucha Bros in tag team action. Page and Omega teamed last week in a victorious effort against Kip Sabian and Shawn Spears. Even in victory, there was dissension teased between Omega and Page, as Page looks to be headed for a heel turn.

Britt Baker and Kris Statlander will square off to determine the number one contender for the AEW Women’s title. Baker is 4-2 in AEW singles matches, while Statlander brings a 2-0 singles record into the contest.

Cody and Darby Allin will team against The Butcher and The Blade. Allin came to Cody’s rescue last week after a post-match beatdown by Butcher and Blade.

Also advertised is Awesome Kong in singles action.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

THE LUCHA BROS. DEFEATED HANGMAN PAGE & KENNY OMEGA

This was a great opener. The post-match angle was really strange.

Fenix and Omega began with a nice little sequence. Omega went for the One-Winged Angel twice, but Feniz blocked both. Fenix used a springboard off the bottom rope to escape an arm wringer. Omega hit a Kotaro Krusher.

Page and Penta tagged in. They did some crowd work, trading taunts. Omega got a tag. Penta raked Omega’s eyes. Omega hit a snap rana and a terminator dive. Page tagged back in and got cut off. Fenix hit a spectacular springboard double stomp off the top.

Penta continued working over Page. He used a codebreaker, then strikes in the corner. Page hit a flatliner into a double down. Omega got a tag. He tried You Can’t Escape, but Penta got his knees up on the moonsault attempt.

Fenix hit a tope suicida. Penta hit a double stomp off the top for a near fall. Fenix tagged in and tried a rana but Omega turned it into a powerbomb. Omega managed a tag to Page. Page hit a plancha to Penta, a tope to Penta, then a tope to Fenix in succession.

Page used Penta as a springboard to hit a standing shooting star on Fenix. Fenix responded with a spin kick in the corner, then a crazy facebuster for a two count.

Page hit a fall-away slam off the second rope on Penta. Page hit a discus elbow on Fenix. Omega hit a powerbomb on Penta. Fenix hit Page with a superkick. Omega hit a snap dragon. After this flurry, Omega was the only man left standing.

Page tried to hit Penta with a Buckshot Lariat. Penta ducked. Page hit Omega with the lariat. The Lucha Bros followed with their double stomp/package piledriver combo, then Penta pinned Omega.

**********

After the bell, Omega and Page shoved each other in the ring. It looked as though they were about to trade blows when PAC appeared on the video wall.

PAC said that Omega must’ve forgotten who he is and what he’s capable of. PAC entered the locker room and approached Michael Nakazawa from behind, then closed the locker room door.

The show went to a commercial break. During the break, Omega left the ring to look for PAC. He got laid out backstage by the Lucha Bros. Page made the save for Omega. Omega and Page then went off together looking for Nakazawa and PAC.

After the break, the announcers ran down the rest of the card for the evening, making no mention of anything that happened during the break.

STOP SHOOTING ANGLES DURING THE COMMERCIAL BREAKS.

**********

CODY & DARBY ALLIN DEFEATED THE BUTCHER & THE BLADE

Allin blind-tagged himself in immediately to face off with Butcher. The announcers pointed out that Butcher weighs 100 pounds more than Allin. Butcher tossed Allin around, then tagged out. Why did he tag out? He was winning.

Blade tagged in and Allin hit him with a sweet springboard armdrag. Cody taged in and got cut off. Butcher and Blade worked Cody over through a commercial break.

Allin got a hot tag, but Butcher cut him off, then locked on a cloverleaf. Cody and Blade brawled to the outside. Allin hit a stunner and tagged Cody.

Cody hit Blade with Cross Rhodes and made a cover. The Bunny took the referee, who missed Cody’s pinfall.

Cody and Allin hit stereo suicide dives. Allin dove through the middle and bottom ropes and almost killed himself. Allin then hit Butcher with a Coffin Drop on the apron. Cody then hit the Cody Cutter on Blade for the pin.

No MJF appearance here, no promo by Cody, no follow-up on that angle.

**********

We saw a Jungle Boy training video.

**********

AWESOME KONG DEFEATED MIRANDA ALICEA

Kong hit a spinning backfist and won with her double underhook facebuster, then cut Alicea’s hair.

Brandi Rhodes cut an inset promo during the match teasing Kris Statlander joining her group later. The mystery bald guy was shown in the promo. The match was a squash. This angle isn’t good.

**********

We got a snippet of a sit-down between JR and Jungle Boy. Jungle Boy said he’s going to try his best and make his dad proud. Jericho vs. Jungle Boy is next.

**********

CHRIS JERICHO & JUNGLE BOY WENT TO A 10 MINUTE TIME LIMIT DRAW

Jungle Boy used a schoolboy for an early near fall. Jericho tried for the Liontamer. Jungle Boy used another quick cradle for a two count. Jericho hit a codebreaker, then another. He had Jungle Boy pinned, but pulled him up at two.

Jericho threw Jungle Boy outside. Hager went after him. Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt made the save. Hager killed Stunt with a forearm shot. Aubrey Edwards kicked Hager out from ringside. Luchasaurus carried Stunt to the back.

Jericho tried his springboard dropkick to the apron, but Jungle Boy moved. Jungle Boy hit three consecutive topes, then used a DDT for a great near fall. Jungle Boy hit a backstabber for another near fall.

Jericho hit a back elbow, but missed a Lionsault. Jungle Boy answered with a Lionsault for a two count.

Jericho hit a lariat and Jungle Boy took a flip bump. Jericho covered for a two count.

They traded strikes. Jericho hit a powerbomb, then used the Walls of Jericho with a minute left in the match. Jungle Boy survived the last minute.

Jericho acted like Jungle Boy tapped. He was told that the match was a draw, so Jericho demanded five more minutes. Apparently this is a Justin Roberts call, as Roberts agreed and the bell rang.

Jungle Boy used a hurricanrana and a crucifix for two quick near falls, so Jericho just walked out on the overtime period he called for. They never officially rang the bell, so it’s as though the overtime period never happened.

The first part of this was exactly what it should have been. The post-match had some wonky execution.

**********

Jericho came out during the commercial break and jawed with Jungle Boy’s family at ringside. Back from break, Tony Schiavone interviewed Jericho.

Jericho said he said Jungle Boy couldn’t beat him. Schiavone said no, you said he couldn’t last ten minutes with you. They did some comedy. Jericho then said he would get to the point, which was to hear from Moxley on his decision on whether or not to join Inner Circle.

Jericho said he and the Inner Circle will have a surprise for Mox on January 1, and wished him a merry Christmas. Aw.

Jenn Decker interviewed SCU. The Lucha Bros interrupted. Pentagon told Chris Daniels that he doesn’t have it any more and showed video of their match last week on his phone.

Kazarian told Daniels to show Penta that he still has it, but Daniels just walked off instead.

NO. 1 CONTENDER’S MATCH: KRIS STATLANDER DEFEATED BRITT BAKER

The bulk of this was a nothing-doing striking battle during an ad break. Baker worked on Statlander’s legs a little bit with kicks. Baker hit a running knee in the corner. Statlander came back with a top rope missile dropkick.

Baker hit a slingblade. Statlander hit a lariat. A crawl for the Dark Order website appeared on screen. JR spent the next minute plugging his barbecue sauce on his own site.

They traded strikes. Baker hit a swinging neckbreaker. They traded superkicks. Baker tried for Lockjaw. Statlander rolled through, hoisted Baker up into a fireman’s carry, then moved to a spike package piledriver position. Statlander hit the spike, then got the pin.

This picked up towards the end. Statlander has a special charisma.

Riho was shown at ringside reacting? to the finish.

**********

Tony Schiavone went to ringside to interview Statlander. Statlander booped him. Brandi entered. She cursed at Schiavone for leaving her a bad mic or something.

Brandi asked if Statlander was joining her Nightmare Collective. Statlander said no. Kong and Melanie Cruz came out and beat down Statlander. Brandi spiked Statlander in the eye with a high heel. Sadie Gibbs ran out to make the save.

Sigh.

**********

Shawn Spears and Tully Blanchard were shown backstage. They hyped their search for a tag partner for Spears.

**********

The Young Bucks did a pre-taped promo promising to win the tag titles and display them for their family at Christmas dinner.

AEW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: SCU DEFEATED THE YOUNG BUCKS TO RETAIN THE TITLES

The Bucks got some shine at the outset. They hit some tandem offense. Sky cut Nick off with a rana off the apron to the floor. Nick came back with a springboard rana off the top rope. Matt hit a top rope elbow on Sky for a two count.

Matt sold his right elbow and the announcers pointed out that this was a result of the street fight last week. Nick hit a crazy escalera to the floor on both Kazarian and Sky.

during an ad break, Sky and Matt traded strikes. Matt used a sharpshooter. Kazarian broke the hold with a DDT. Kazarian got a tag and ran wild on both Bucks. He connected on a double lariat. Kazarian hit a pullover rana to the floor. Sky followed with a tope con giro.

Sky tried a TKO on Matt. Matt escaped, then hit a spear. Nick got a tag and tried a springboard off the top, but Sky caught him coming in with a cutter.

Sky and Kazarian used tandem dragon sleepers. The Bcuks escaped. Nick hit a DDT on the apron on Kazarian. Matt used a cradle on Sky for a near fall. Sky hit Matt with a TKO. Sky and Kazarian hit the SCU Later on Matt, and Kaz got the pin.

This was good, but the finish felt like it came out of nowhere.

**********

After the match, the Creepers came to the ring. The lights went out. Dark Order appeared on the stage. Uno cut a promo. He congratulated SCU. He said he would recruit The Bucks another time, but tonight was an initiation.

Reynolds and Silver jumped the Bucks and SCU. The Creepers and Reynolds and Silver beat down everyone. Omega ran out for the save, but fell victim to the numbers game.

Cody and Dustin Rhodes ran down and got beat down as well. The announcers called attention to the fact that Hangman Page was not there. Uno put his hand in Matt’s mouth and ripped away at something, then pulled his bloody hand out.

The show ended with Dark Order standing tall.

**********

Final thoughts:

This was a night of good-to-very good in-ring work, and some bad angles.

The only significant angle that ran during an ad break this week was the first one. My theory is that the opener ran long, and that the angle was not supposed to take place during the break.

The Dark Order came closer to being over tonight than at any point in their AEW tenure.

The crowd was hot for the opener, but seemed to get turned off by everything else in the first hour. Jericho and Jungle Boy got them back. The angle after the Statlander/Baker match lost them again to the point that Matt Jackson was begging for reactions in the main event.

The people are speaking. They love the in-ring. Your angles are turning them off. Let’s take a break, regroup, and meet back here January 1. Happy Holidays, everybody.

AEW Dynamite live results: Texas street fight

AEW Dynamite airs live tonight from the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, a Dallas suburb.

A Texas Street Fight between The Young Bucks and Santana & Ortiz has been advertised for the event. The Bucks scored a victory in trios action against the Proud and Powerful duo and Sammy Guevara in last week’s opening match.

Guevara will be in action against Luchasaurus tonight. Chris Jericho will be on commentary for that match ahead of facing Jungle Boy next week.

Cody Rhodes & QT Marshall vs. The Butcher & The Blade is set for Dynamite as well. Cody allowed MJF to name his partner in exchange for a shot at Butcher and Blade, who attacked Cody two weeks ago.

Also scheduled for tonight’s show is MJF’s response to Cody’s challenge.  MJF has said that he will never wrestle Cody after turning on him at the Full Gear event last month. Last week, Cody offered his truck, his watch, his shoes, and more than $50,000 to MJF if he would agree to a match.

In another tag match set for tonight, Kenny Omega & Hangman Page will team against Kip Sabian & Shawn Spears.

Plus, Big Swole makes her Dynamite debut against Emi Sakura. Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

JON MOXLEY DEFEATED ALEX REYNOLDS

Moxley won in seconds with a Regal knee and a Paradigm Shift. Reynolds’ partner John Silver jumped in to attack Mox after and he also got a Paradigm Shift.

Jericho and the Inner Circle came to the ring. Jericho climbed inside to confront Moxley while the others surrounded the ring.

Jericho cut a promo inviting Moxley to join the Inner Circle. He drew on some real life elements, talking about how Moxley had asked him for advice when he first broke onto the national stage. He said they became adversaries, but imagine what they could do on the same side.

Jericho gave Mox an Inner Circle shirt, then left. Moxley said nothing the entire time, and left you with the impression that he was not seriously considering the offer.

**********

The announcers previewed the card for the rest of the evening, then threw to a video package hyping up the main event street fight.

**********

THE BUTCHER & THE BLADE DEFEATED CODY & QT MARSHALL

As Butcher and Blade entered, MJF cut an inset promo mocking QT. At least I think that’s what he said. The sound mixing for this was awful.

Cody and Blade had a nice opening sequence. Cody hit a powerslam for a one count. QT and Butcher tagged in. Allie tripped QT from the floor, and Blade then nailed him with a tope con giro.

Butcher and Blade worked over Marshall through a commercial break. They built to a hot tag to Cody. QT kept getting cut off, but finally hit a sweet enziguri and made the hot tag.

Cody ran wild with a moonsault, a top rope springboard cutter and a Disaster Kick. Allie gouged Cody’s eyes, cutting him off. QT tagged himself in and hit the slowest space flying tiger drop you’ll ever see. Still a super impressive move for a man of his size.

QT hit a top rope moonsault for a near fall. He got cut off again. Butcher and Blade hit a Magic Killer into a backstabber as their tandem finisher, then Blade pinned QT.

Cody sold as though he was broken-hearted about losing and sat on the arena floor pouting. Darby Allin marched to the ring and helped Cody to his feet, so that could be an alliance going forward.

**********

MJF RESPONDS TO CODY

MJF cut an absolutely fire promo on Cody. He mocked his lisp. He mocked Cody for pandering to the fans. He called the fans hicks and white trash. He called a grip into the ring to chastise him for laughing as Cody mocked him last week and made him kiss his ring.

He said he knows Cody wants to get his hands on him more than he wants anything in the world. He agreed to face Cody, but said with a few stipulations. He said he wasn’t going to reveal the stips here in Honkyville USA, but on January 1 in Jacksonville.

**********

There was another Dark Order hype video. They were talking to Reynolds through his hotel TV, urging him to stop being a jobber and join Dark Order.

**********

BIG SWOLE DEFEATED EMI SAKURA

Swole oozes charisma. She got off to a good start here with some kicks. You could see Sakura really leading Big Swole through the match.

Sakura cut Swole off and used a Romero special. Sakura continued working Swole over through a commercial break.

Sakura hit a Tiger Driver over her knee for a two count. Sakura grabbed her mic stand and did a bunch of her Freddie Mercury shtick. Big Swole grabbed the mic stand and did a James Brown impression.

Sakura hit a Vader Bomb for a two count. Sakura missed a moonsault. They traded strikes. Big Swole hit a pump kick for a two count.

Big Swole missed with a ripcord headbutt attempt. She got it on her second attempt. It’s her finish, called Dirty Dancing. Big Swole then pinned Sakura.

There were good elements to this but the match went too long and started to get wobbly the longer it went.

**********

KENNY OMEGA & HANGMAN PAGE DEFEATED KIP SABIAN (w/PENELOPE FORD) & SHAWN SPEARS (w/TULLY BLANCHARD)

They teased the possibility of Spears and Sabian teaming regularly.

Page and Omega controlled the early part of the match with fundamental offense. Chops, kicks and the like. Spears and Sabian used a distraction from Penelope Ford on the floor to cut Page off.

Sabian used a draping neckbreaker. They teased a hot tag through a commercial break. Omega got a hot tag and hit a double Kotaro Krusher. He teased a Terminator dive, but Ford jumped on the apron to block the dive.

Ford then hit a tijeras off the apron on Omega. Spears took the referee and Ford jumped inside and hit a handspring back elbow in the corner on Omega. Sabian then hit a fisherman’s suplex for a two count.

Omega made a comeback with V-Triggers. The lights went out. When they came back on, Joey Janela had Tully Blanchard tied up on the ramp. Shawn Spears ran up the ramp to brawl with Janela, leaving Sabian to fend for himself.

Omega hit a snap dragon suplex. Page blind-tagged himself in, then hit Sabian with a Buckshot Lariat for the pin.

I’ve been talking about Penelope Ford since 2017. She’s a star. They continued to tease a Page heel turn here.

**********

BRANDI RHODES VIDEO

Brandi cut a promo on the women’s division. She said what would the division be without her and Kong, a kids gymnastics meet? She said Riho has gone missing, and if you took a shot every time Britt Baker mentioned her boyfriend you’d be dead on the floor. They teased a new Nightmare Collective member, a big bald guy.

Nope. This ain’t it, fam.

**********

Chris Jericho and Jake Hager kicked Tony Schiavone and Excalibur out of the commentary booth, taking their places for the next match.

LUCHASAURUS DEFEATED SAMMY GUEVARA

The match was more of a backdrop for commercials and an angle for next week’s show.

They wrestled through a break. They did a picture-in-picture replay of a Guevara dive off the apron during a picture-in-picture ad break. That was some real Inception-style stuff there.

Luchasaurus won with the Extinction.

Jericho and Hager ran to the ring to brawl with Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt. Jungle Boy got a visual pinfall over Jericho ahead of their match next week.

**********

PPV ANNOUNCEMENT

**********

YOUNG BUCKS DEFEATED SANTANA & ORTIZ IN A TEXAS STREET FIGHT TO BECOME NUMBER ONE TAG TEAM CONTENDERS

The Bucks got jumped during their entrance by Santana, Ortiz and Guevara. Brandon Cutler ran out to make the save and got powerbombed through the stage. Matt and Nick hit an Indytaker on Guevara on the stage. Nick hit a swanton off the tunnel.

They brawled around ringside and used all sorts of plunder. Matt wore a Dallas Cowboys helmet and hit both Santana and Ortiz with a spear. Santana and Ortiz put both Bucks through tables. They used trashcans.

Matt hit a crossbody off the post. Nick hit a 450 on a trashcan on top of Ortiz. Jake Hager ran in and pulled the referee out of the ring. The Bucks hit More Bang For Your Buck for a near fall as Aubrey Edwards ran in to assume referee duties.

Nick got sent through a table. Santana and Ortiz doubled up on Matt and hit him with a low blow. Santana and Ortiz hit the Street Sweeper on Matt. Nick pulled Aubrey out of the ring before she could count to three.

Santana and Ortiz tried another Street Sweeper. Santana got sent off the top through a table on the floor. Nick hit a superkick on a chair into Ortiz’s face. The Bucks hit the Meltzer Driver on Ortiz, and Matt scored the pin.

Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian jumped in after the match and had a staredown with the Bucks over the tag team titles.

**********

I thought this was a better show than last week’s Dynamite. They effectively set up next week’s loaded show, did some teases for January, and introduced some new stars on the biggest stage they have. The show was timed out much better than last week’s as well.

AEW Dynamite live results: Young Bucks & Dustin vs. Inner Circle

AEW Dynamite airs live tonight from the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois.

Dustin Rhodes and The Young Bucks will take on Santana, Ortiz & Sammy Guevara in trios action following their in-ring confrontation on last week’s show. These three members of the Inner Circle enter the contest with a 1-0 record in trios matches, The Bucks each carry 2-1 trios records, while Rhodes will wrestle in his first AEW six-man.

Jon Moxley (3-0-1 singles record) will face Joey Janela (1-3 singles) in singles competition. Moxley holds a victory over Janela in an unsanctioned match which took place at Fyter Fest in June.

Trent (1-1 singles) will take on Fenix (1-0 singles) in singles action after Trent and partner Chuck Taylor defeated Fenix and Pentagon Jr. in a tag match last week.

In the women’s division, Kris Statlander will take on Hikaru Shida. Shida is currently ranked as the top challenger to AEW Women’s World Champion Riho.

Rounding out the card is Christopher Daniels vs. Pentagon. Both men enter the contest with 0-1 records in singles matches.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

DUSTIN RHODES & THE YOUNG BUCKS DEFEATED SANTANA, ORTIZ & SAMMY GUEVARA

The Bucks and Dustin ran wild at the outset. All three hit a triple superkick. Matt hit a high cross off the post to the floor onto all three opposing team members. Nick hit a corkscrew dive while Dustin hit a simultaneous flip dive off the apron.

Matt tried a double northern lights suplex sequence and got cut off. Matt blocked a delayed vertical suplex from Guevara and made a  hot tag to Dustin. Dustin hit three powerslams and a crossbody, then hit Santana with a destroyer for a near fall.

Dustin got cut off after a shot with the loaded sock from Proud and Powerful. Guevara hit a 630 senton for a near fall. Guevara hit a double stomp off the top onto Matt for a near fall.

Guevara grabbed his phone and started live streaming. He jumped off the top into a double superkick. Nick hit a missile dropkick into a double piledriver combo and Matt pinned Guevara.

A fun opener. There are always audio issues on Dynamite, but even by their standards, there were significant technical difficulties during this match.

**********

REY FENIX DEFEATED TRENT

A good match, lots of good action, but not much heat for this. Kind of the story of Trent’s career in a nutshell.

I think there’s far more upside in the Lucha Bros than in the Best Friends at this stage of the game. I hope last week’s Best Friends win was an aberration.

Fenix hit a dropkick. He teased a muscle buster, but Trent blocked. Trent teased a Dudebuster, but Fenix blocked. Fenix missed a 619, but hit one to Trent’s legs on the second attempt. Fenix grabbed the right arm and worked it over as the show went to its first commercial break.

During the break, Fenix used his springboard rope-walk spot, and hit a drive-by dropkick which led to a near fall.

After the ad break, Fenix tried a tornillo. Trent blocked with a dropkick, then hit a half-and-half suplex. They brawled to the floor. Fenix sent Trent into the barricade. Trent came back with a spear on the floor.

Back in the ring, Trent hit a tornado DDT for a two count. Trent tried a monkey flip. Fenix blocked and hit a powerbomb for a two count. Fenix hooked Trent’s legs in the ropes. Fenix ran the top rope connected with a kick. Trent answered with a lariat.

They traded chops on the apron. Fenix hit a springboard double stomp to the floor. Fenix then tried a springboard attack off the top. Trent got his knees up, then hit a stuff piledriver for a two count.

Fenix hit a pop-up cutter, a rolling kick, then connected with a muscle buster and got the pin.

Trent and Fenix continued fighting after the bell as the show went to commercial break. The announcers never called attention to this. If you’re going to do stuff during commercials, it has to count.

**********

CODY SPEAKS

Cody entered for a promo. There was a lot of good stuff here but it was also disjointed.

Cody mentioned the attack by Butcher, Blade and Bunny last week. He mentioned his wife cutting the hair of people in the women’s division. He said what’s really on his mind is MJF.He said he saw something in MJF when no one else did. He made a snide reference to MJF botching the Cross Rhodes and how it’s now being botched on two channels, a shot at WWE. He said he knew MJF was a bad guy, but he was HIS bad guy.

He said MJF says he’ll never fight him. Cody proceeded to offer his truck, his watch, his shoes, and more than $50,000 to MJF for a match. Cody told him to name his price.

**********

Alex Marvez was backstage with Joey Janela. Marvez wanted to know why Janela wanted to face Moxley again. Janela said this time if Moxley wants to beat him, he’ll have to kill him. Moxley walked in, said “Kids,” then walked off.

**********

Another Dark Order hype video was shown. This was good.

**********

Nyla Rose entered for a match with Leva Bates. During her entrance, they showed a video of Rose attacking Shanna at a pre-show meet and greet.

NYLA ROSE DEFEATED LEVA BATES

Rose won with the Beast Bomb in a quick squash. The other librarian Peter Avalon tried to interfere, but Rose hit both with a double chokeslam.

Shanna ran down after the match and got powerslammed for her trouble.

During a commercial break, Rose set up a table in the ring, then powerbombed referee Rick Knox and Shanna through the table. Britt Baker was shown at ringside, distraught. The announcers referred to her as Adam Cole’s girlfriend. The “Inside Baseball” stuff is counter-productive. Again, the announcers did not address the angle during the break on the TV broadcast.

**********

LEXICON OF LE CHAMPION

Jericho entered for a promo. He ran down Champaign. He said AEW is forcing him to wrestle one more time this year on December 18.

Jericho introduced a list of people he would not face. The crowd popped at the mention of the list, so Jericho told them to get out of 2016. He introduced the Lexicon of Le Champion, a list of people he would not agree to face. Moxley was on the list several times.

Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt entered. Luchasaurus did some dinosaur humor. Jericho said children and dinosaurs were next on his list, in reference to Stunt and Luchasaurus.

Jungle Boy stepped forward. Jericho said he knows everyone is pulling for the son of Hollywood royalty, everyone loves the Jungle Boy. Jericho said that’s not the case. Jericho said Jungle Boy is “a piece of shit” who couldn’t last ten minutes with him.

Jungle Boy said he knows he can last ten minutes with Jericho and said he’s going to kick Jericho’s ass. Jungle Boy slapped Jericho. Jericho, Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus, Jake Hager and Marko Stunt had a pull-apart.

**********

KRIS STATLANDER DEFEATED HIKARU SHIDA

Statlander did a bunch of cartwheels. Shida responded with a chop. They traded heavy chops. Shida tried her springboard knee attack off a chair on the floor, but Statlander caught her coming in, tossed her inside, then proceeded to work Shida over. The bulk of this happened during a commercial.

Shida hit an enziguri on the apron, then connected with a running knee off the apron to the floor. Shida hit a missile dropkick for a near fall.

Cody and QT Marshall vs. The Butcher and The Blade was randomly announced in the middle of this match.

Statlander rolled to the apron. Shida superplexed her back inside for a two count. Shida tried a running knee, but Statlander blocked. They traded enziguris. Statlander hit an electric chair drop, then a scissors kick for a near fall.

Shida picked up two quick near falls off a cradle and a knee strike. Statlander hit a falcon arrow for a two count. Statlander hit a package tombstone and pinned Shida for the upset. This was a good match.

**********

After the bell, Brandi Rhodes and Awesome Kong entered. Brandi introduced herself and Kong as the Nightmare Collective, an extension of the Nightmare Family.

Brandi told Statlander to join her collective and they’ll take care of her and protect her. Statlander hesitated. A plant from the crowd demanded to pledge to the collective. She climbed over the rail and had her head shaved DURING A COMMERCIAL BREAK, the theme of this show so far.

**********

PENTAGON JR. DEFEATED CHRISTOPHER DANIELS

Pentagon used a variety of kicks and enziguris to establish control in the early-going. There was another lengthy commercial brea during this match.

They fought to the ramp. Pentagon teased a destroyer on the ramp, but Daniels blocked it. Daniels tried for a springboard facebuster but slipped on the ropes. They rolled back inside where Daniels made a comeback. Daniels hit a right hand and an Angel’s Wings for a near fall.

The finish saw Fenix run down with Daniels’ mic stand. Both Daniels and Pentagon teased using it as a weapon, but ultimately neither did. Fenix took the referee, Pentagon hit a low blow, then used a package piledriver on Daniels for the pin.

This had its moments, but has to be considered an in-ring disappointment given the talent of both guys.

**********

A Butcher/Blade/Bunny video package played. Allie said that they’re sick of seeing Cody’s face everywhere and they’re in his house to cut the head off the snake.

**********

JON MOXLEY DEFEATED JOEY JANELA

They began with some actual wrestling holds. Moxley used a waistlock takedown. Janela hit a double sledge off the top to the ramp. Moxely used a surfboard, then an STF. They brawled to the floor during the show’s last ad break.

Back inside, Moxley hit an x-plex for a two count. Moxley teased a Paradigm Shift on the ramp. Janela blocked, then hit a tornado DDT on the ramp. Janela hit a tope suicida.

Moxley teased a Paradigm Shift off the second rope, but Janela countered into a crucifix bomb. They traded strikes and lariats. Janela suplexed Moxley into the bottom turnbuckle.

Moxley rolled outside. Janela hit a senton off the post to the floor, which the cameras missed. Janela tossed Moxley inside and hit a top rope elbow for a two count.

Moxley responded with a top rope Paradigm Shift. He then hit a second Paradigm Shift for the pin. This was a good brawl.

**********

After the bell, Jericho’s music played. Jericho and the Inner Circle entered through the crowd. Jericho sated Moxley down, as Moxley did to him last week. They are on a collision course.

**********

I think this was the weakest Dynamite so far. They can’t all be winners, but there are some fundamental things like not shooting angles during commercial breaks that need to be addressed.

There is a way to achieve a sense of chaos and unpredictability, which I think they’re going for, that doesn’t require sensory overload or cramming so much into two hours that you have to shoot angles during commercials.

AEW Dynamite live results: Chris Jericho vs. Scorpio Sky title match

AEW Dynamite airs live tonight from the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Sears Centre also hosted the All In pay-per-view in September 2018, which laid the foundation for what would become AEW, and the AEW All Out show a year later. The company’s hope is to establish a Thanksgiving week tradition at the venue starting tonight.

Chris Jericho will defend the AEW World Championship against Scorpio Sky in the main event. Sky handed Jericho his first AEW loss in a tag match two weeks ago to set up the title match, which was agreed to on last week’s Dynamite.

In addition to his title defense, “Chris Jericho’s Thanksgiving Thank You Celebrashon for Le Champion” has been announced for tonight. Jericho promised that the Celebrashon will feature an aquarium, games, clowns, and the biggest celebration in pro wrestling history.

Tonight’s show will also see Kenny Omega vs. PAC in a rematch from All Out.

The AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring will be presented to the winner of tonight’s Hangman Page vs. MJF match. Diamond Dallas Page will appear to present the ring to the winner. Hangman and MJF won the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal last week to secure their spots in the final. MJF pushed on social media this week that the ring is worth $45,000, making it the most valuable prize in sports.

Also advertised for the show is Cody’s return to action in his first match since Full Gear.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opened with…

CHRIS JERICHO’S THANK YOU THANKSGIVING CELEBRASHON FOR LE CHAMPION

Soul Train Jones welcomed us to the greatest night in television history, then introduced Jericho.

The ramp was lined with a marching band. The ring was surrounded by people in inflatable clown and animal costumes.

Jericho told Chicago to sit down and shut up. The crowd chanted “thank you,” but Jericho said their thanks don’t matter. He’s here to be thanked by the AEW executive team and the TNT network brass.

Jericho announced a limited run of the official “Little Bit of the Bubbly” and gave the website. He said that fans should check under their chairs, some of them have a coupon worth 50 cents off a new Le Champion t-shirt.

He toasted Soul Train Jones, then called out the Inner Circle.

Sammy Guevara gave Jericho a cardboard standee of the two of them hugging. Santana and Ortiz gave Jericho a Puerto Rico flag headband, “a little bit of the 40,” flip-flops, then named him an honorary Boricua. Jake Hager gifted Jericho a goat named “Chris Jerich-goat.”

Between Pharaoh being scared by pyro and this poor goat that was too scared to walk to the ring, this company is going to have a serious problem with PETA.

Proud and Powerful opened a giant box in the ring, and out stepped Jericho’s dad, Ted Irvine.

Ted insulted the Chicago hockey team, then put over the New York Rangers, and gave the Inner Circle custom-made Rangers jerseys.

Jericho called Justin Roberts into the ring to read a proclamation from TNT putting Jericho over. They established that Roberts was a Chicago local, then beat him up. The announcers called attention to the fact that he was getting beat up in his hometown, which is unheard of in wrestling.

SCU hit the ring dressed as members of the marching band to make the save for Roberts. Daniels put Jones in the Million Dollar Dream.

This ruled. Great pro wrestling comedy.

With Roberts out, Dasha Gonzalez took his place as ring announcer. Marco Solis Martinez filled in for Tony Schiavone on the first match. Marco is from the “All Elite Fleet, courtesy of State Farm”.

**********

BEST FRIENDS DEFEATED LUCHA BROS.

Best Friends were accompanied by Orange Cassidy, who wore a turkey costume.

Lucha Bros. jumped Best Friends as they entered. Best Friends fought off the sneak attack. Cassidy hit a dive off the post. JR made a WKRP reference to flying turkeys. Excalibur made a joke about going after the over-50 demo. Lots of inside baseball jokes tonight.

The bell rang. Trent ran wild with knee strikes. Pentagon cut him off before a commercial. Lucha Bros. worked Trent over through the entire break.

Back from commercial, Fenix hit a dropkick to Trent’s ass. Trent made a hot tag to Taylor. Taylor hit a standing sliced bread and a tope con giro. Trent got a tag and got cut off again with a destroyer from Pentagon.

Taylor took out Pentagon with a dive on the floor. Trent hit Fenix with a Crunchie out of nowhere for the upset. They got very little time, but what little they did was good.

**********

BEA PRIESTLEY & EMI SAKURA DEFEATED HIKARU SHIDA & KRIS STATLANDER

This had its moments, but was pretty sloppy overall. Statlander has a ton of potential, Shida is going to be a star, Priestley is a good athlete, Sakura is a solid veteran, but all together they didn’t gel.

The announcing was a detriment to the match as well. JR made a couple of very questionable stements here, referring to Sakura as “Oriental”, then saying that “Shida doesn’t speak English, most of these young Asian ladies don’t.” Yeesh.

Statlander hit a shooting star off the apron to Priestley, then an Okada-like shotgun dropkick. Shida got a tag and got cut off. The second straight match with a lengthy commercial break.

Sakura used her mic stand while applying an abdominal stretch to Shida, doing her Freddie Mercury shtick. They beat on Shida forever.

Statlander got a hot tag and used an Oklahoma roll for a near fall on Sakura. Priestely hit a double stomp to Statlander. Sakura hit a back breaker for a two count.

Shida hit Priestely with a falcon arrow. Statlander hit a scissors kick and a Michinoku Driver on Sakura for near falls.

Priestley took the ref. Sakura used the mic on Statlander, then used a crucifix for the pin.

**********

Jon Moxley cut a promo. He said he’s napalm death and wonders if anyone else has the balls to step up to him.

**********

CODY DEFEATED MATT KNICKS

Squash city. Cody hit a springboard cutter and threw his weight belt into the crowd. Cody used a figure four for the submission.

Cody asked for a mic. He called out MJF. The debuting Butcher and The Blade entered through a hole in the ring and left Cody laying. Allie entered through the ring as well, so those three look to be a unit.

The crowd had no idea who Butcher and Blade were, and this got very little reaction.

**********

KENNY OMEGA DEFEATED PAC

PAC avoided a Kotaro Krusher, but Omega hit an immediate snap dragon suplex. Omega hit a buckle bomb for a two count. PAC rolled outside, and Omega hit his Terminator dive. Omega landed flat on his ass on the floor, which had to suck.

Back inside, Omega hit another snap dragon. Omega teased a dragon off the apron, but PAC blocked. PAC then hit a moonsault off the top to the floor. PAC worked over Omega’s abs and used a chinlock during a commercial.

Back from break, Omega fired up. He connected on a series of double sledge shots, then hit a fisherman buster. Omega teased You Can’t Escape, but PAC blocked. They traded kicks. PAC blocked a V-trigger an hit a lariat into a double down.

PAC hit a top rope falcon arrow for a two count. PAC missed on a Black Arrow attempt. Omega hit a V-trigger. He teased a One-Winged Angel, but PAC blocked. Omega then used a rolling crucifix for the pin. An excellent TV match here.

**********

Trent vs. Rey Fenix was announced for next week.

**********

We got a highlight package from the Dynamite Dozen battle royal last week.

**********

MJF DEFEATED HANGMAN PAGE TO WIN THE DYNAMITE DIAMOND RING

Each cut an inset promo on the other before the match.

Page ignored a handshake offer at the opening bell, then attacked. He got some brief shine. Wardlow tripped Page from the floor, allowing MJF to take control. MJF worked on Page’s left arm before a commercial break.

After the commercials, Page hit a tope suicida and a moonsault off the post. Back inside, Page hit a discus lariat for a near fall. Page hit a Buckshot Lariat. They were out of position and MJF had to roll to the ropes for the next spot. Page covered, but Wardlow put MJF’s foot on the ropes.

MJF took the ref. Wardlow hit a right hand to Page. MJF then hit Page with Cross Rhodes for the pin.

DDP appeared to present MJF the ring. He said MJF’s actions have disappointed him, but since he’s the bigger man, he’ll shake MJF’s hand. Instead of accepting, MJF put his chewing gum in Page’s hand.

Page and MJF had a staredown. Wardlow stepped between them, and DDP told him to step off, because he’s look real stupid having a 63 year-old man kick his ass all over Chicago. Security and referees came out to pull everyone apart.

This was an effective segment. DDP got a great reaction as well.

**********

Jenn Decker interviewed Dustin Rhodes in the ring. Dustin said that Jake Hager broke his arm, so he’s out for Hager’s blood.

Guevara and Proud and Powerful hit the ring. The Young Bucks ran down to make the save. Rhodes and the Bucks cleared the ring.

**********

We got another Dark Order hype video similar to last week’s. I like these videos, an they should help with what has been a lackluster run for Dark Order in AEW to this point.

CHRIS JERICHO DEFEATED SCORPIO SKY TO RETAIN THE AEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Jericho did some stalling. Sky hit a dropkick, then clotheslined Jericho to the floor. Sky hit a one-legged dropkick on the floor, then used a sunset flip on the inside for a two count. Jericho came back with his second rope springboard dropkick, sending Sky to the floor before a commercial.

While Jericho jawed with Aubrey Edwards, Sky recovered. Sky hit a cutter, then locked in a dragon sleeper. Jake Hager ran to the ring and Sky gave up the hold. Jericho used the distraction to use a schoolboy for a two count.

Daniels and Kazarian ran out to take out Hager. Edwards chased them all to the back. Jericho teased a belt shot. Sky ducked it, then hit a TKO for a near fall.

Sky hit a tope rope rana, then a step-up enziguri for a two count. Sky jumped off the second rope into a Codebreaker for a near fall by Jericho.

Sky blocked a Judas Effect and used a backslide for a two count. Jericho blocked a kick and used the Liontamer, and this time Sky tapped out.

The crowd loved this and it picked up quite a bit at the end, but this was not what you would think of as a great world title match.

After the bell, Jericho again used the Liontamer on Sky. Moxley’s music hit. Moxley appeared in the crowd. Jericho grabbed his belt and the two had a long distance staredown to end the show.

This was another good episode of Dynamite. I didn’t like it as much as last week’s show, but I thought it was a better show than two weeks ago.

AEW Dynamite live results: Moxley vs. Allin, Nick Jackson vs. Fenix

REY FENIX DEFEATED NICK JACKSON

These two had a great opener. Shocking, I know.

They got a standing ovation before they even locked up. They opened with a hot sequence of teases and reversals on the floor, ending with both missing a dropkick in the ring.

Nick used a sharpshooter, but Fenix reached the ropes for a break. Nick tried a tombstone, but Fenix pulled him into a cradle for a two count.

The finish saw Fenix hit a crazy springboard roundhouse kick in the corner, then use a muscle buster for the pin.

Nick offered a handshake after the match, but Fenix refused.

**********

HIKARU SHIDA DEFEATED BRITT BAKER

A surprising result here. They worked hard and had an above-average match.

They traded strikes. Shida used a judo throw and hit a backbreaker for a two count. Shida hit a running knee and made a cover. Baker turned her over into a Lockjaw attempt. Shida reached the ropes.

It looked as though the final two were Page and Jungle Boy, but MJF was hiding on the floor. He eliminated Jungle Boy, so your winners were Page and MJF.

Page and MJF had a pull-apart after.

**********

Jericho and Jake Hager were shown walking backstage before a commercial. They talked to the Librarians. Le Champion’s big announcement is next.

**********

CHRIS JERICHO’S ANNOUNCEMENT

Jericho told the crowd to sit down and shut up. He then apologized for his conduct after his temper tantrum last week. He said he was fined and had to pay for all the damage he did.

Jericho couldn’t say “sorry”, so he had Hager say it for him.

Jericho said he’s getting his long-awaited thank you next week in Chicago. He promised a celebration, an aquarium, games, clowns, and the biggest celebration in pro wrestling history.

He said he was glad it was happening in a city with a hockey team and two baseball teams like Chicago, not a dump like Indianapolis.

Jericho and Hager went to leave, but were interrupted by SCU’s music. All three members of SCU came to the ring.

Scorpio Sky said Jericho was a paragon of virtue for his apology. But Sky said that Jericho neglected to mention why he had to apologize. It was because Sky pinned him and gave him his first loss last week.

Sky said his DMs have been blowing up all week, and his high school crush found him and they’re going out as a result. He said he was sorry for embarrassing Jericho.

Jericho said he wasn’t embarrassed and that Sky’s crush has gained a lot of weight since high school. Sky said he likes big butts and he cannot lie.

Jericho said he wants Sky one-on-one. Daniels said Sky would need at least a month to prepare. Jericho said he only has a week. Sky said he doesn’t deserve a title match. Jericho said too bad, because they’re wrestling for the title next week.

The two sides started brawling. The rest of the Inner Circle ran down to make this a 5-on-3. Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa ran down to try to even things up, but never made it into the ring.

Jericho laid Sky out with the Judas Effect, then posed over him with the title.

This was a great segment.

Santana and Ortiz passed Quen back and forth in a vertical suplex position for like 90 seconds. They went through a second commercial break with Proud and Powerful working over Quen.

Back from another break, Kassidy got a hot tag. He hit a springboard moonsault to the floor, then used a destroyer on Ortiz. He covered. The ref held up his count becuase either Ortiz was supposed to kick out and he didn’t, or Santana was supposed to pull the ref out of the ring. This was a bad botch and the second screwed up match in as many weeks.

Quen hit a flip dive on Santana. Private Party tried a Silly String, but Quen’s back gave out. P&P hit a superkick/powerbomb combo for a two count. Santana hit Kassidy with a cutter for a near fall.

These guys were in a tough spot having two commercial breaks in their match, and the bad botch didn’t help things.

**********

Luchasaurus then hit Grayson with a chokeslam and a standing moonsault. Jurassic Express posed together to end the segment.

The lights went out. Awesome Kong and Brandi Rhodes appeared on the stage. Allie charged at Kong and hit her with punches. Kong no-sold the strikes, then hit a Mongolian chop and a weak-looking backfist.

Brandi held a lock of Allie’s hair. Kong pulled out her knife, then cut the lock of hair.

CHRIS JERICHO/MJF PROMO

Jericho said he’s still Le Champion. He demanded a thank you from everyone in the locker room and every employee at AEW. A thank you chant erupted, but Jericho said he wants a thank you from people who matter, not a bunch of jackasses from Nashville.

The lights went out. Cody’s music played. Instead of Cody, MJF appeared. MJF walked to the ring. He said he would address Jericho in a minute, but he had some things to get off his chest first.

The crowd booed. MJF said they don’t like him, but they don’t realize that if it wasn’t for him, Cody’s career would have ended. He said the people see him as a villain, but they’ve been cheering the true villain all along. That villain is Cody, he said.

MJF said that there’s one person alive who knows the real Cody, and that’s him. He said the real Cody is a liar, a user, an abuser. He said he wanted to mentor MJF, but really, he just wanted to keep him under his thumb. He said you’re looking at the new face of AEW.

MJF then addressed Jericho. He said he’s a fan. He said he heard that Jericho wanted him to join the Inner Circle. Jericho said he heard that MJF might want to join the Inner Circle.

They went back and forth and did some comedy. Jericho said that MJF is a little like him, but really wants to be like him. He said that it’s almost like MJF’s parents got horny watching Jericho beat up Juventud Guerrera on WCW Saturday Night 25 years ago and 9 months later his little twerp ass popped out.

They both said at the same time that the biggest jackass in AEW was Cody Rhodes. At that, Cody entered.

Cody pushed aside a couple of stagehands, then ran to the ring. He hit MJF with punches. He tried a powerslam on Jericho, but they botched it somehow. Cody hit the powerslam on his second try. Jericho rolled outside.

As Cody went to face off with MJF again, Wardlow entered. He laid out Cody with an Attitude Adjustment, then proceeded to choke Cody with his tie. Referees ran down to make the save. Cody was helped to the back during a commercial break.

AEW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: SCU (FRANKIE KAZARIAN & SCORPIO SKY) DEFEATED CHRIS JERICHO & SAMMY GUEVARA

Jericho missed a dropkick. Sky missed a second rope elbow. Sky got his knees up on a Lionsault attempt. Sky tried a second rope cutter, but jumped into a Codebreaker for a two count.

Sky used an inside cradle for the flash pin on Jericho.

Jericho sold this like it was a major defeat. The show went off the air with Jericho throwing a tantrum.

This was easily the weakest episode of Dynamite so far. There were bright spots, like the Jericho/MJF promo segment, but the show as a whole was disjointed and not an easy watch.

AEW Dynamite live results: Tag Team title tournament finals

AEW Dynamite rolls into the Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, West Virginia tonight.

The fifth episode of Dynamite will feature the conclusion of the AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament, as SCU will take on the Lucha Bros to determine the company’s first tag champs. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express will present the titles to the winning team.

The Best Friends & Orange Cassidy are also expected to compete in six-man action, against unnamed opponents.

Rounding out the card, Jon Moxley will be appearing. The AEW website says Moxley will be in action, while their social media channels seem to indicate Moxley will be delivering a promo.

The show will also feature Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opened with Tony Schiavone greeting Cody and Dustin Rhodes as they arrived via private plane in Charleston. Dustin told Cody that he loved him and would see him at the building. Tony and Cody got in a limo to drive to the building. This seems to be a modern take on the 1993 Starrcade angle.

They recapped the post-show angle from last week. Jon Moxley went into Tony Khan’s office and was told that his match with Kenny Omega at Full Gear will have to be an unsanctioned match. Moxley was livid. He said that what happens to Omega will be on Khan’s hands. Khan was never shown on camera.

HIKARU SHIDA DEFEATED SHANNA

They traded waistlocks. Shanna worked over the left arm, then hit a neckbreaker. Shanna sent Shida outside and teased a dive, but Shida jumped on the apron and cut her off. Shida set up a chair on the floor. She used it as a launch pad for a jumping knee strike.

Very solid work from both women. Shida is going to be a star.

**********

We got a very cinematic Brandi Rhodes video package. She was shown staring at photos of Britt Baker and Riho, then summoning Awesome Kong using tea candles. Kong used a meat cleaver to chop up some hair extensions. This was bizarre.

**********

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express came to the stage with the AEW tag titles. Ricky Morton said it was great to be back in West Virginia. Robert Gibson started to cut a promo, but Santana and Ortiz jumped the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express from behind.

Santana and Ortiz beat up on Morton and Gibson, then powerbombed Morton through a section of the stage. The Young Bucks came out to make the save, and Santana and Ortiz took off.

**********

Cody and Tony were shown riding in the limo. Tony told a great Dusty story. He took Dusty to meet Willie Nelson once. Dusty made Willie wait to see him, because the star always comes out last.

Cody said his mom will be at Full Gear and he wants to impress her. Tony encouraged Cody to use that emotion and the positive vibes form his family to beat Jericho.

This was awesome.

**********

BEST FRIENDS & ORANGE CASSIDY DEFEATED JOHN SILVER, ALEX REYNOLDS & Q.T. MARSHALL

This was total comedy. Rick and Morty were the ring announcers for Best Friends and Cassidy.

Orange Cassidy and Chuck Taylor were dressed as Rick, and Trent was dressed as Morty. Trent lost his wig which allowed the jobbers to get the heat. Orange Cassidy entered and hit his trademark kicks, then hit a tope suicida with his hands in his pockets.

Trent pinned Silver after Taylor and Trent hit the Strong Zero.

**********

JERICHO VS. CODY CONTRACT SIGNING

Cody signed. Jericho teased flipping the table over, but said the match was too important to resort to such tactics. He said that this was the most important match of Cody’s life; he would either win and become the world champion just like he’s always wanted, or he’d lose, proving he’s not as good as he thinks he is.

Jericho heeled on the crowd. He offered Cody a handshake. Cody accepted, and teased an attack. Jericho said before Cody did something stupid, he might want to see if he’s needed elsewhere.

A video played on the big screen of The Inner Circle attacking Dustin Rhodes in the parking lot. Jake Hager hit him with a low blow, then slammed a limo door on his hand.

Cody ran to the back to make the save, but the damage was done. Jericho, wearing a purple jacket with pumpkins on it, and no shirt, lit a cigar. He said Cody might want to take Dustin to the hospital. Jericho then cheerfully wished us a Happy Halloween, and got into a limo with his cronies.

There was a special video game-themed video package for Omega before the match. It used images of both Kota Ibushi and the NJPW Lion Mark. Interesting.

KENNY OMEGA & THE YOUNG BUCKS DEFEATED KIP SABIAN, JACK EVANS & ANGELICO

The Elite came out dressed as video game characters. Sabian and The Hybrid 2 attacked at the opening bell, sending the Bucks to the floor. Omega made a comeback with a basement dropkick and a double Kotaro Krusher on Evans and Angelico.

Evans was just on fire tonight. He hit a Sasuke Special and a springboard foot stomp. Sabian cut Omega off. The Bucks recovered and Matt tagged in, but he was also cut off. He tried for a hot tag, but the heels cut the ring in half and isolated him in their corner, using quick tags as they worked him over.

After a commercial, the Bucks were running wild. They hit a tandem moonsault/springboard splash on Sabian for a two count. Omega and Jack Evans got hot tags. Omega hit snap dragon suplexes on Sabian, Evans and Angelico.

Omega missed a V-Trigger attempt on Evans. The match broke down and everyone hit a crazy move. Evans hit a springboard moonsault off Matt’s back to Nick on the floor. Omega hit a V-Trigger on Angelico. Sabian tried a tope con giro, but all three Elite caught him, then hit a powerbomb on the apron.

The Elite hit tandem superkicks on Evans. Omega hit a V-Trigger, then hit Evans with a One-Winged Angel for the pin. This was a great match.

The Bucks were celebrating with two fans in Rick and Morty masks at ringside. The fans unmasked to reveal Santana and Ortiz. They pulled the Bucks over the barricade, then attacked. Omega made the save, and Santana and Ortiz ran for cover.

**********

Peter Avalon and Leva Bates came to the ring doing their librarian shtick. Avalon heeled on West Virginia. Jon Moxley entered through the crowd. He hit Avalon with a Paradigm Shift.

Moxley cut a promo. He said he’s the baddest and sickest son of a bitch in this game. He promised violence the likes of which wrestling hasn’t seen in decades at Full Gear.

He said that because AEW says he’s unsanctionable, Kenny Omega’s blood will be on their hands. Moxley said he’s been dealing with suits, teachers, cops, and all kinds of people insulting him his whole life.

He said that AEW can shove their win-loss records up their ass, and that anyone who doesn’t like that he marches to the beat of his own drum can kiss his ass and stay out of his way.

As far as the content of this promo, I thought it was average. The intensity with which it was delivered, though, was something you just don’t see anywhere else in wrestling.

AEW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT FINAL:  SCU DEFEATED THE LUCHA BROS.

Kazarian and Pentagon started out as the legal men. They traded strikes. Sky and Fenix jumped in and all four brawled. The Lucha Bros. took over with tandem offense. They sent Sky rolling outside after a 619 into a backstabber.

Pentagon hit a Michinoku Driver on Kazarian for a near fall. Fenix walked along the top rope and kicked Kazarian. Sky hit a rana on the floor, then used a monkey flip to send Kazarian into both Lucha Bros., and Kazarian hit a double lariat. Fenix hit Kazarian with a springboard arm drag.

Pentagon hit a superkick on Sky on the floor. Pentagon held Kazarian on the floor, then Fenix hit a slingshot legdrop from the ring to the floor. During a commercial break, the Lucha Bros. worked over Kazarian in their corner.

Back from break, Fenix hit Kazarian with a dropkick for a near fall. Kazarian made his own comeback and hit Fenix with an Angel’s Wings, then made a hot tag to Sky.

Sky sent Pentagon outside with a headscissors, then hit a tope con giro. Kazarian tried a hurricanrana off the top rope to the apron on Fenix, but didn’t get all of it, and he landed hard on the back of his neck on the apron.

Sky and Kazarian hit a tandem DDT on Fenix. Pentagon hit a destroyer on Kazarian. Fenix hit a pop-up cutter on Sky for a near fall. Pentagon powerbombed Kazarian through a table on the floor.

Fenix hit a splash off Pentagon’s shoulders onto Sky for a two count. Pentagon grabbed Sky and set him up for the package piledriver/double stomp combo. Kazarian jumped in and cut off Fenix as he jumped for the stomp, and Sky pulled Pentagon into an inside cradle to win the titles.

The finish was almost flat after seeing fifteen minutes of big move after big move, but this was a fantastic match. Pentagon and Fenix are on another level right now, and it feels like they should be the champs.

Sky and Kazarian celebrated with the titles as the show closed.

AEW Dynamite live results: Moxley vs. PAC, tag tournament semifinals

AEW rolls into Pittsburgh tonight, as the fourth episode of Dynamite emanates from the Petersen Events Center.

Last week’s show saw Jon Moxley and PAC teaming. That uneasy alliance ended with Moxley hitting his Paradigm Shift finisher on PAC and walking out on the match. As a result, the two will face off in singles competition tonight.

A promo segment featuring Cody has been advertised for tonight’s show. Cody is set to challenge AEW World Champion Chris Jericho at Full Gear on November 9.

Joey Janela will make his Dynamite debut, taking on Kenny Omega in a rematch of their acclaimed AEW Dark match from earlier this month.

The AEW Tag Team Title Tournament continues with two semifinal matches. The Lucha Bros will face Private Party, and SCU will take on Dark Order.

Also on the show, Britt Baker, wrestling in her hometown, will take on the United Kingdom’s Jamie Hayter.

In a matchup of two teams that have been eliminated from the tag tournament, The Young Bucks will take on Best Friends. Both teams have 2-2 records in AEW tag matches.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show started with the ring introductions for the first tag tournament semifinal.

AEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMIFINAL: THE LUCHA BROS. DEFEATED PRIVATE PARTY

This was an insanely hot opener. Big move after big move after big move. They worked a crazy pace and didn’t sell much. A very modern match.

Quen and Fenix began. After a series of drop-downs and leapfrogs, Quen hit a dropkick. Fenix came back with a German suplex, and the Lucha Bros. isolated Quen.

Quen came back with a pop-up double stomp, then tagged Kassidy. Kassidy hit an enziguri, followed by another double stomp from Quen. Quen hit a springboard tope to the floor on Fenix. Kassidy and Quen hit Silly String on Pentagon. Quen hit Pentagon with a 450 for a near fall.

Pentagon came back on Quen with a series of kicks. Fenix tagged in and hit a double stomp to a standing Quen. The Lucha Bros. hit a tandem pop-up dropkick/poison rana move. Fenix hit a springboard dive to the floor. Pentagon used a package driver on Quen for a two count.

Quen hit a headscissors on Pentagon, stood up out of a headscissors attempt by Fenix, then managed a tag to Kassidy. Kassidy hit a variety of flying headscissors on Fenix, then took out Pentagon with an Asai moonsault.

Kassidy hit a tornillo on Pentagon. Quen and Kassidy hit a tandem cutter on Fenix for a two count. Kassidy hit a blockbuster on Fenix. Quen hit a 450 on Fenix for a near fall.

Fenix hit a Gory Bomb/legdrop combo on both Quen and Kassidy. Pentagon hit a lungblower on Kassidy. Lucha Bros. went for their finish, but Quen fought it off. Kassidy hit a pop-up cutter on Fenix. Pentagon hit Kassidy with a destroyer.

Fenix ran across the top rope and hit Quen with a kick. Pentagon used an armbreaker on Quen. Fenix and Pentagon hit their double stomp/package driver finish on Quen. Fenix hit a tope con giro on Kassidy, allowing Pentagon to cover Quen for the pin.

**********

A hype video played for Wardlow. He lifted weights and flexed. Wardlow is coming.

**********

The broadcast team gave an update on Christopher Daniels. He’s expected back in 6-8 weeks after suffering a pinched nerve in the attack by the Lucha Bros. last week.

AEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMIFINAL: SCU DEFEATED DARK ORDER

Uno and Grayson dominated the early-going with very basic offense. Sky got a couple of hope spots in against Uno, who tagged Grayson. Sky made a comeback on Grayson with a double stomp, then tagged Kazarian.

Kazarian and Sky used quick tags, but Grayson came back quickly with a backflip kick on Kazarian. Uno rammed Sky into the ring steps. Dark Order continued working over Sky in the ring during a commercial break.

Grayson worked a chinlock as they returned from commercial. Sky came back with right hands on Uno, but Uno cut him off and used a rest hold.

The Inner Circle appeared in the crowd during the match, and everyone stopped paying attention to the match. Jericho and company walked through the crowd and sat in a suite.

Kazarian, meanwhile, was making one of the greatest comebacks no one has ever seen. It didn’t matter. He got cut off. Grayson hit him with an overhead belly-to-belly for a two count. Uno hit him with a powerbomb for another two count.

Sky blind-tagged himself in. Kazarian and Sky used tandem dragon sleepers. Grayson threw Kazarian off and broke both holds.

Grayson tried a top rope rana on Kazarian and sent him outside. He then hit a tope over the post to the floor on Kazarian. Uno hit a DDT on Sky for a near fall.

Kazarian recovered and jumped back in. Sky and Kazarian hit the SCU-Later on Grayson. Kazarian held Uno at bay, while Sky covered Grayson for the pin.

This was a chaotic segment. I see no reason why Jericho and company couldn’t have come out at the end of the match instead of in the middle of a great comeback. Dark Order just isn’t over. Their act has never really been explained, and the right call was made as to the winner here.

**********

They showed clips from the AEW Dark match between Kenny Omega and Joey Janela a couple of weeks ago.

KENNY OMEGA DEFEATED JOEY JANELA

They began with some catch-as-catch-can grappling. They traded holds. Omega hit a running boot and sent Janela outside, then hit a pescado. Janela came back with some right hands, then hit a crazy high cross off the post to the floor. He then threw Omega back inside for a two count.

The two traded chops, and we got a commercial break. This was the first break during the show that didn’t have the live feed picture-in-picture on the screen.

Bac kfrom break, Omega hit You Can’t Escape. He went for the follow-up moonsault, but Janela got his knees up. Janela suplexed Omega into the bottom buckle, then hit a top rope elbow for a near fall.

Janela teased a top rope rana, but Omega slipped out and dropped his face across the top rope. Omega hit a V-trigger for a two count.

Omega went for another V-trigger. Janela hit a German, but Omega rolled through. They traded high kicks. Omega hit a standing knee strike. Janela hit a fisherman buster, then used a big lariat for a two count.

Omega rolled to the apron. Janela tried a swanton bomb off the post, but Omega rolled away, and Janela crash landed on the apron.

Omega hit a V-trigger, then hit the One-Winged Angel for the pin.

This was good. The crowd was super into it and chanted “this is awesome.” That might be a stretch, but it was a good match.

**********

Cody came out for his big announcement. tony Schiavone conducted the interview. Cody said he grew up in front of the world so it’s only appropriate that he share his news with all of us tonight.

Jericho, Santana, Ortiz and Sammy Guevara started sounding air horns from their seats. Cody said AEW wasn’t like the other wrestling company that he and Jericho came from, there’s not an invisible wall around the ring, and he can come up there and fight Jericho.

Jericho said Cody is a stupid coward, and an entitled little millennial bitch, and if he fought him it would be 4-on-1.

Dustin Rhodes’ music played. MJF came out. Jericho made fun of MJF’s scarf, and asked what kind of idiot wears a scarf. Diamond Dallas Page entered. Cody, Dustin, MJF and Page entered the crowd and went up to Jericho’s box. Jericho and company locked themselves in the box. Cody broke the glass, and the brawl was on.

The two sides brawled through the luxury box, out onto the concourse. Cody and his team were getting the best of the brawl, until security and police intervened. Cody and company were escorted away, while Jericho waved his ticket in the air and said that’s what happens when you mess with The Inner Circle.

**********

THE YOUNG BUCKS DEFEATED BEST FRIENDS

Orange Cassidy came out with Best Friends. He threw an Orange Cassidy version of a superkick at both Bucks, and the Bucks responded by hitting him with double superkicks.

As the match began, the Bucks asserted themselves. Nick hit his facebuster/tope combination to both Best Friends. The Bucks mocked the Best Friends hug.

Trent and Taylor made a comeback on the outside, whipping both Bucks into the barricade. Taylor hit a doomsday knee to the floor. Matt came back with a springboard DDT over the top to the apron on Taylor. Trent came back on Matt with chops, then sent him over the top rope. Best Friends were in control going into a commercial break.

Back from break, Nick missed a 450 and tagged Matt. Matt hit a roundhouse kick on Trent. Trent no-sold and hit a German on Matt, then tagged Taylor.

Taylor hit a suplex on Matt, a then used a powerbomb for a two count. Taylor then hit a falcon arrow for a near fall. Taylor went up top. Matt tried to cut him off, but Trent jumped up and suplexed him off the top.

Best Friends hit a Soul Food/suplex combo. Best Friends hugged and took the ref, while Cassidy hit a dive off the post onto both Bucks. Best Friends hit Strong Zero, but Nick broke up the pinfall with a 450.

Trent hit a doomsday knee to Matt, but Matt landed on his feet. The Bucks ran wild with superkicks. Nick took out Cassidy and Trent with a crazy dive to the floor.

The Bucks then hit More Bang For Your Buck, and Matt pinned Taylor. This was another very good match. The level of the in-ring on this show every week is kind of crazy.

After the match, the Bucks accepted Santana and Ortiz’s challenge for Full Gear.

**********

They played a hype video for Britt Baker, focusing on her connection with her hometown of Pittsburgh.

Britt said you have to keep working hard. She put over her connection growing up rooting for the local sports teams, and welcomed us to Brittsburgh.

**********

BRITT BAKER DEFEATED JAMIE HAYTER

Baker came out with a Pittsburgh Steelers mascot and Pittsburgh-themed gear.

Hayter took the early advantage with strikes, then sent Baker outside. She whipped Baker into the barricade. Baker came back with a slingblade on the floor.

The match continued during a commercial break. Back in the ring, Baker hit a neckbreaker. Hayter hit some punches, choked Baker with the ropes, then used a camel clutch.

Hayter took Baker’s back and applied a rear naked choke. Baker broke the hold, hit strikes in the corner, then hit another slingblade for a two count.

They traded strikes. Hatyter hit a falcon arrow for a two count. Hayter tried a powerbomb, but Baker backdropped out. Baker hit a second rope superplex, which Hayter basically no-sold. Hayter then hit a chokeslam for a two count.

Baker hit a big right hand, a cutter, then used a swinging neckbreaker for a two count. Baker hit a superkick, then used the Lockjaw for the submission.

This was pretty much exactly what it shoud have been. A nitpick is that it seemed as though they were rushing to get all of their planned spots in.

**********

The broadcast team plugged next week’s show and the pay-per-view, then threw it to Jenn Decker, who was set to interview Hayter.

Decker got one question out. Hayter started to answer, when Brandi Rhodes attacked and left her laying.

Decker tried to get a word with Brandi. Brandi got in Decker’s face, but then walked off without saying anything.

**********

PAC hit Jon Moxley with a chair as Moxley made his entrance. PAC then choked Moxley with his own jacket.

JON MOXLEY & PAC WENT TO A TIME LIMIT DRAW

PAC hit an enziguri at the opening bell. He went to the top for a Black Arrow, but Moxley rolled outside. PAC hit a space flying tiger drop, then threw Moxley back inside for a two count.

Moxley made a comeback. He hit a series of stomps in the corner. PAC regained the advantage with a one-legged dropkick to the head for a two count.

Moxley stepped to the apron to try to avoid PAC’s offense. PAC sent him off the apron into the barricade with a running shoulder block.

PAC used a chinlock, then hit a series of mid kicks. PAC used a standing shooting star press for a two count.

Moxley teased a Regal knee, but PAC rolled outside. Moxley then hit a suicide dive. Back inside, Moxley hit a black hole slam for a two count. Moxley hit a Regal knee for another two count.

Moxley locked on a cloverleaf. PAC reached the ropes, forcing a break. Moxley went to the top rope. PAC crotched him, then hit a top rope falcon arrow for a two count.

Moxley used a cradle for a two count. PAC low-bridged Moxley to the floor. PAC then hit a 450 off the apron to the floor. PAC tossed Moxley back inside. He went for Black Arrow, but Moxley rolled out of the way.

Moxley crawled over and made a cover, but PAC kicked out at two. Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift, but PAC kicked out at two.

TV time expired, and the match was ruled a draw.

Moxley hit a Paradigm Shift on the referee, and the show ended.

The crowd didn’t react well to the draw, but educating the audience that it’s a viable finish is important and has to be done.

FINAL THOUGHT: This was another good night for AEW in front of another hot crowd.

The Lucha Bros attacked SCU as they made their entrance, as the show began with a hot angle.

Pentagon hit a package piledriver on the ramp on Daniels. Scorpio Sky ran down to make the save for Kazarian, but not before Kazarian got sent back-first into the post.

They did an injury angle, as paramedics came out and placed Daniels on a back board. Sky then took Daniels’ place in the match.

The finish saw Kazarian hit a powerbomb into a dropkick by Sky on Trent, and Kazarian got the pin.

A chaotic opening segment, and a very good opening match. Not at the level of the Bucks opener last week, but still good.

**********

SANTANA & ORTIZ DEFEATED JOHN SILVER & ALEX REYNOLDS

A complete squash. After a beatdown, Santana hit a top rope cutter on Silver and pinned him.

Jericho cut a pre-taped promo on the video screens. He said Santana and Ortiz are pitbulls and street thugs who will pick your pocket and kick your ass. He said they want to fight the Young Bucks at Full Gear on November 9. He asked if the Buck boys accept le challenge from le champion.

———-

We got a Cody hype video. Brandi was shown talking to Cody about media obligations. Cody sold as though he was preoccupied, thinking about Jericho.

DDP and Cody’s mom, Michelle Runnels talked about how driven Cody has been since he was a kid. Michelle said Cody had a tough road being the son of Dusty. DDP said that Cody is chasing something real, his first world title in this business.

MJF said that Cody is driven to prove that since he left “the other place”, he’s a top guy. Cody was shown training for his match with Jericho.

This was excellent, and the production values on the vignettes in this company are incredible.

**********

The broadcast team alerted us that Daniels suffered a stinger, but is otherwise okay. They then ran down the rest of the card for the evening.

Stunt and Pentagon started with some comedy. This broke down into a four-way right away. Stunt hit a hurricanrana with an assist from Jungle Boy. Stunt hit a DDT and and a suicide dive. Jungle Boy hit an Asai moonsault.

Moxley responded by hitting the Paradigm Shift on PAC, flipping him off, then walking out on the match.

With PAC left 2-on-1, Page hit him with a Buckshot Lariat. Omega followed up with a V-trigger, and Page pinned PAC.

This was good as well. All action. JR and Tony Schiavone on commentary put it over as a really great match.

The rest of the Inner Circle came to the ring with bottles of champagne, and they celebrated in the ring as the show closed.

This wasn’t Jericho’s best night in the ring, but Allin worked his ass off and the crowd was into the match.

Isiah Kassidy and Nick Jackson started off with a series of counters and teases. Kassidy ducked under a superkick. Matt jumped in and hit a dropkick through the ropes, sending Marq Quen to the floor.

The Bucks cut Kassidy off with a neckbreaker combo. Kassidy came back with an Asai moonsault, then tagged Quen. Quen ran absolutely wild with a springboard crossbody, a dive to each side of the ring, then hit a 450 splash on Nick for a two count.

Quen tried for a tag, but Matt cut him off. Matt hit a spear for a two count, while Nick took Kassidy off the apron with a superkick, preventing a tag.

Kassidy got a hot tag. He took out both Bucks with a dropkick, then hit a double hurricanrana. He sold his back from the sunset bomb on the apron. Matt came back with three northern lights suplexes in a row on Kassidy, then hit a double northern lights on both members of Private Party.

Matt locked Kassidy in a sharpshooter. Nick hit Kassidy with a facebuster while he was still in the hold, then hit a dive to the floor that the production team missed.

Private Party hit Gin and Juice on Matt. Quen hit Nick with a poison rana. Quen hit Matt with a 450 for a two count.

The Bucks went for a Meltzer Driver. Kassidy pulled Nick off the ropes to the floor. Inside, Quen used a cradle on Matt for the upset win.

Private Party went into the crowd to celebrate as we reached our first commercial break.

Jericho and his faction came out for a promo. Jericho said these men are his confidantes, they will continue to work together, and they have a name.

Jericho put over Sammy Guevara as a “Spanish God”, and said he was sexy, and a teenage heartthrob. He said Santana and Ortiz are killers that he personally recruited to AEW.

The crowd began chanting “We the people” as Jericho started introducing “Jake HAGAR”. Jericho said “We the people” sucks, it’s dead and buried, a bad idea from bad creative.

Jericho introduced the group as “The Inner Circle”. He said he hates Cody and his family. He said Dusty was a jerk, Dustin is a moron, and he’s going to beat Cody in Baltimore on November 9, then celebrate in the streets of Baltimore with a little bit of the bubbly.

Jericho can’t help himself with the cool heel lines that always end up turning him babyface, but aside from that, this promo was exactly what it should have been. It established his group, named them, and emphasized his match at the pay-per-view.

DARBY ALLIN DEFEATED JIMMY HAVOC

Allin gets a title match against Jericho next week by virtue of this win.

This was kind of a weird match. Havoc took the vast majority of the offense. These are two guys whose gimmicks are that they’re ultra-violent, but they didn’t do much violence. There was a lot of biting.

Allin hit an armdrag and a back elbow. Havoc bit Allin, then suplexed him out of the ring to the floor. Havoc went to work on Allin’s left hand. He stomped on the left arm, then bit the hand.

Havoc used a sleeper hold in the corner, then hit a sleeper suplex. Allin rolled to the floor, and the show went to a commercial break.

Back from break, Havoc hit a weak rolling elbow for a two count, then hit a DVD into the buckle for another. Havoc hit a tiger driver for a near fall. Allin used a crucifix for a two count.

Havoc went for a lariat, but Allin bit his hand, hit a stunner, then hit a Coffin Drop for the pin.

RIHO & DR. BRITT BAKER DEFEATED BEA PRIESTLEY & EMI SAKURA

This was a good match. A minor complaint is that it felt as though they crammed a 20 minute match into a 10 minute window.

Priestley had her right shoulder taped up and didn’t work much, and she didn’t do much in her match last week either, so she may be injured.

Sakura hit a slam on Riho. Riho came back with a dropkick. Riho went for a slam, but failed. Sakura threw Riho across the ring by her hair. Sakura used a Romero Special, then tagged Priestley.

Priestley went after Baker on the apron. They brawled to the floor, trading forearms. Sakura and Priestley hit a double suplex on the floor. Riho then hit a high cross off the post onto the other three ladies on the floor.

The match continued picture-in-picture during an ad break. Riho hit a double stomp on Priestley, while Baker hit a draping DDT. Sakura countered with a Vader Bomb into an elbow drop for a two count.

Baker hit a stunner on Sakura. Riho hit a double stomp to Sakura, then rolled outside to hold Priestley at bay bay. Baker used a swinging neckbreaker for a two count, then used her Rings of Saturn/Mandible Claw combo for the submission win.

Priestley and Baker got into it after the match, but ref Aubrey Edwards quickly pulled them apart.

We got a Best Friends hype video and promo. They were asked how they’re feeling ahead of their match next week.

Chuck Taylor said don’t ask us, ask this guy how we’re feeling, then stepped aside to reveal Orange Cassidy seated behind him.

Cassidy gave a thumbs up.

JON MOXLEY DEFEATED SHAWN SPEARS (w/Tully Blanchard)

“The Bastard PAC” was on commentary. He made references to  AEW management holding him down, and wanted to know why he isn’t getting a title shot.

Spears went right at Moxley with forearm shots before the bell. Moxley came back with a penalty kick and an elbow drop. Tully tried to trip Moxley from the floor, but failed.

Moxley tossed Spears outside, then ran him into the barricade. Tully grabbed Moxley, then made a hasty retreat. Spears couldn’t capitalize on the distraction, and Moxley remained in control.

Tully whipped Moxley into the steps, then took the referee. Spears sent Moxley into the barricade, then the steps. He then hit a Death Valley Driver on Moxley into the barricade.

Spears continued working over Moxley during a commercial break. Spears locked on a single-leg crab as they returned from break.

Spears sent Moxley outside, then hit a suicide dive. Moxley didn’t sell it, then immediately hit his own suicide dive. Moxley hit a Regal Knee for a two count.

They traded chops. Spears hit a pump kick, but Moxley put him down with a lariat. Spears popped up, then hit an Ushigoroshi for a two count.

Spears taunted Moxley with his perfect 10 deal. Moxley threw Spears into the corner, then hit a Death Rider (double-arm DDT) and got the pin.

Kenny Omega came out to the ramp with a barbed wire broom and a barbed wire bat. He threw the bat to Moxley. As they prepared to square off, PAC attacked Omega from behind with a chair, then left.

Moxley refused to use the bat on Omega when he was down. He’s a good guy.

CHRIS JERICHO & SAMMY GUEVARA DEFEATED HANGMAN PAGE & DUSTIN RHODES

Page and Dustin are already one of the best teams in the business in their first match together.

Dustin went after Jericho. He dominated him on the floor, then sent him over the barricade. Guevara tried a clothesline off the apron but Dustin nailed him with an uppercut.

Page hit a fall-away slam on Guevara, then hit a dive to Jericho. Page and Dustin doubled up on Guevara. Page hit a standing shooting star for a two count.

Page went up top, but Jericho grabbed his ankle, cutting him off. Guevara climbed to the top with Page, then hit a pop-up TKO, dropping Page across the top turnbuckle. Guevara and Jericho took the advantage heading into the final commercial break.

Back from break, Jericho worked over Page against the ropes. Jericho missed a running knee. Page tried to hot tag Dustin, but Guevara tagged in and made the save for his team.

Guevara used a chinlock on Page. Jericho tagged back in and hit some slaps to Page’s face. Jericho went for a Lionsault, but Page got his knees up. Page again tried for the hot tag, but again Guevara tagged in and cut him off.

Page hit a discus lariat, then finally made that hot tag to Dustin. Dustin hit a Manhattan Drop, then an inverted atomic drop. He hit a twisting crossbody off the top to both Guevara and Jericho.

Guevara got sent outside. Page hit him with a moonsault off the post, but then got taken out by Hager.

Dustin hit a destroyer on Jericho. He set Jericho up for a Final Shot. Guevara jumped in and ate a powerslam. Guevara took the referee, and Hager ran in and dropped Dustin with a forearm.

Jericho used the distraction to hit Dustin with a Judas Effect, then pinned him.

Hager and Page fought to the back after the match, while Jericho and Guevara double-teamed Dustin.

The lights went off. When they came back on, Cody was in the ring. He took out Guevara with a right hand. Santana and Ortiz ran in to cut Cody off. Jericho choked Cody with Cody’s own tie.

MJF ran down with a chair. He teased turning and hitting Cody with a chair, but instead used the chair on Jericho, Guevara, Santana and Ortiz.

MJF posed for the camera. Jericho hit him with a Codebreaker.

The Young Bucks ran down to make the save. They hit tandem topes to Santana and Ortiz. Dustin came to and took out Guevara. Jericho escaped and made it to the ramp.

Jericho then went after referee Bryce Remsburg. Darby Allin rode down the ramp on a skateboard to make the save, nailing Jericho with a knee.

Allin then hit Jericho with the skateboard, then posed with The Elite in the ring.

Jericho took the mic and said that he’ll see Cody on November 9, and he’ll see Darby next week. “It’s your funeral, bitch,” he said.

Final Thoughts – –

73 things happened in the main event and post-match, which is too busy for my taste, but they ended on a strong note with a cliffhanger for next week.

The promo establishing The Inner Circle was well done.

The opener was the best match in the short history of the show.

All in all, this was a better show than last week’s debut.
