WWE Raw live results: Build to Super Show-Down continues

Date: September 24, 2018
Location: Pepsi Center in Denver, CO

The Big Takeaway —

There was a show-long story where Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre tried to goad Dean Ambrose into leaving the Shield and join them. He didn’t. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns defeated the team of Baron Corbin and AOP in the main event. The Shield posed to end the show with Ziggler, McIntyre and Strowman looking on.

Liv Morgan appeared to get knocked out legit by Brie Bella’s Yes Kicks. Morgan continued for a moment before being taken out of the match. The Riott Squad won the match anyway over Brie, Nikki, and Natalya.

Next week, Ruby Riott faces Ronda Rousey, and Shawn Michaels will appear.

Show Recap —

There’s a new signature video to start the program that reads “WWE Forever.”

Baron Corbin greeted Stephanie McMahon as she exited her limo backstage. He began singing “Happy Birthday” but stopped when he saw Triple H. Stephanie had something to say to Corbin, so Triple H left knowing how awkward it was about to get.

Stephanie wondered about Corbin putting himself in a title match. Corbin tried to blame the Shield, but she didn’t care and told him to find two partners to face the Shield tonight. She told him to take care of business or she may have to bring back Kurt Angle sooner than anticipated.

The Shield came out to a big reaction. Dean Ambrose called them the three workhorses of WWE, and while they have lost a few battles, they always win the war. Roman Reigns began talking and was booed. Seth Rollins laughed.

Reigns said all they need to do was show off their titles, then he and Rollins raised their belts (while Ambrose just stood there watching). Rollins called them the best, and Braun Strowman recruiting “a couple jackasses” against them wasn’t enough. Rollins called out Corbin and told him to bring his partners.

Corbin came out and said he would impress Stephanie tonight. He said nobody in the locker room liked the Shield. That brought out Strowman, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. Strowman said he would take the title from Reigns and claimed he could already see cracks in the Shield.

Strowman said they would have a 4-on-2 handicap match against them at Super Show-Down. Rollins was confused. Ziggler put the focus on Ambrose and said the Shield needed him, but he didn’t need them. Ambrose was the champion on his own on Smackdown two years ago. McIntyre put him over for their match last week and said he deserved more.

Ziggler said Ambrose has sacrificed himself for his partners but has nothing to show for it. Ziggler also reminded us how quickly Rollins replaced Ambrose with Jason Jordan. Ziggler offered Ambrose a spot with them, and it would guarantee him the IC title.

Reigns told Ziggler to shut up. He wanted them to fight. They were about to oblige but Corbin stopped them. The crowd wanted to see it, but Corbin reminded Ziggler and McIntyre that they have a tag title defense later. Corbin said he and his partners would deal with the Shield later.

Bayley hugged Finn Balor backstage and the announcers plugged the Mixed Match Challenge.

Finn Balor (w/Bayley) defeated Jinder Mahal (w/Alicia Fox & Sunil Singh) (9:45)

Mahal applied a chinlock 30 seconds into the match. Balor came back with a dropkick and flip dive. After a break, Mahal was back in control. Balor came back with a dropkick, forearm, foot stomp, and enziguri. Balor followed that with a slingblade, but Singh grabbed his foot with the referee’s back turned. Mahal then came off the ropes but was tripped by Bayley.

Fox went after Bayley but Bayley knocked her down. Sunil got in Bayley’s face, so she gave him a Bayley-to-belly. Mahal was distracted, so Balor rolled him up for the pinfall win. The crowd was happy with this. Seems like a hot crowd in general.

Afterwards, Mahal shoved down Sunil as the crowd chanted “you suck” at him. Mahal and Fox sat down to do his “shanti” chant and Sunil reluctantly joined them.

The Riott Squad defeated Natalya, Nikki & Brie Bella (10:36)

There was a moment early on where it looked like Liv Morgan was knocked out legitimately. Brie hit her with Yes Kicks and she sorta just fell over. She was dragged back toward her corner and it sounded like somebody said “she’s out,” but she eventually made her way back on the apron. They did a couple more spots and went to a much needed commercial break.

(I went back to watch it again, and it looked like the second-last Yes Kick caught Morgan in the chin and Brie didn’t notice before hitting the last one.)

Back from break, Morgan was not on the apron. The announcers said she was taken to the back.

Natalya made a hot tag and hit Sarah Logan with a German suplex and discus clothesline, but Ruby Riott broke up the cover. Natalya put Logan in the Sharpshooter, but Riot had made a blind tag and gave Natalya a Riott Kick for the win.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were in the ring for a Connor’s Cure segment. The roster watched on the ramp, including the Shield, Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre. Ambrose at least made sure to move away from the heels. They aired a video and announced a new sponsor supporting the charity.

Stephanie introduced Carter and Elizabeth who made an entrance to the ring. Triple H called them survivors and champions and presented them with title belts. The crowd chanted “you deserve it” and Elizabeth began tearing up. An exec from the new sponsor spoke for a while, then presented them with a cheque for Connor’s Cure.

Ziggler approached Ambrose backstage. Ambrose grabbed him back the jacket, but Ziggler tried to reason with him and asked him where the Shield was when he almost died of a staph infection. Ziggler said he knows how hard it is to turn on your brothers, so they would be out there watching his match tonight and all he has to do was give them the signal and he won’t have to do a thing.

Konnor (w/Viktor) defeated Chad Gable (w/Bobby Roode) (2:34)

Konnor won clean with a Dominator. Gable gave him a German at one point, but this wasn’t much.

Charly Caruso caught up with Stephanie and Triple H as they were about to leave. She asked Triple H about the Undertaker. Triple H said Taker has already lost if he thinks he’s just a suit. “As far as him taking my soul — I sold that a long time ago.” That was a good line. He said anybody who is honest with themselves knows the end is near for the Undertaker.

Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre defeated The Revival to retain the Tag Team Championships (12:44)

The Revival did not get an entrance. Konnor got one earlier for his match. They also didn’t do the big in-ring introductions like they usually do for title matches.

The Revival shined early on, basically picking apart Ziggler for the first few minutes. On the outside, Ziggler avoided a charge by Dash Wilder who went crashing into the steel steps. McIntyre tagged in and his team took over during commercial, but Scott Dawson made a hot tag after break and gave Ziggler a double underhook powerbomb for a nearfall.

Dawson gave Ziggler a superplex and Wilder followed with a splash but McIntyre broke up the cover. Wilder gave McIntyre a tornado DDT off the barricade. Revival then gave Ziggler a Doomsday Device for a close nearfall.

McIntyre tagged in and was double-teamed, but he managed to fight them off. He tagged in Ziggler and they hit the Claymore Kick/Zig Zag combo for the win. Good match and the crowd got into the Revival, who were impressive.

The Kevin Owens Show

Elias was in the ring and told the crowd in Denver that they don’t deserve a performance. He introduced his partner for Super Show-Down, Kevin Owens. Owens said they had to fight the super team of Bobby Lashley and John Cena. Owens put over Cena’s accomplishments before reminding us he beat Cena on his first night.

Owens moved on to Lio Rush, who talked trash about him unprovoked. He introduced Rush as his guest. Rush stopped on the stage, so Owens invited him into the ring. Rush said he wasn’t naive. Elias said they took care of him by making special arrangements, then pulled out a booster seat for him. Rush wasn’t impressed and brought out Denver’s own Bobby Lashley.

Bobby Lashley (w/Lio Rush) defeated Elias (w/Kevin Owens) via DQ (13:03)

A long, dull match ended when Owens accidentally ran into Lashley on the outside of the ring, barely hitting him. Even Michael Cole compared this to Clay Matthews. Owens was chasing after Rush. They eventually caught him but Lashley saved him and that was it.

Backstage, Rollins told McIntyre that Ziggler was the weak link in their team and McIntyre is the one that should be getting shots at singles titles. Rollins told him to look in the mirror and think about who is really being used. After Rollins left, then Ziggler showed up and asked McIntyre what he said. McIntyre told him not to worry about it. Crowd was into this.

Nia Jax (w/Ember Moon) defeated Alicia Fox (w/Alexa Bliss & Mickie James) (2:57)

Fox was on offense briefly but Jax won quickly with the Samoan drop. The crowd liked Jax.

McIntyre approached Ambrose backstage. McIntyre wondered why Rollins approached him earlier. He told Ambrose that maybe Rollins wanted a four-man Shield, or maybe he wanted McIntyre to replace Ambrose because it’s not like Rollins ever stabbed him in the back before.

They aired a video package for Undertaker vs. Triple H. Shawn Michaels will be on Raw next week in Seattle. Also next week, Ronda Rousey faces Ruby Riott, and Bobby Lashley faces Kevin Owens.

The Shield defeated Baron Corbin & AOP (w/Drake Maverick) (19:20)

Corbin said half the roster wanted to be his partners but he picked the cream of the crop, AOP. Maverick standing next to Corbin was quite the visual. Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre watched the match from the stage, sitting on steel chairs.

Rezar knocked down both Ambrose and Rollins with a clothesline, then Reigns tagged in and had a big staredown with him. Reigns gave him a jumping clothesline, but Rezar basically no sold out which caught Reigns by surprise.

The two teams brawled and the Shield got the better of it. Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre picked up their chairs and started walking down the ramp, but it was just a distraction allowing Corbin and AOP to take control.

After a break, Reigns made a hot tag to Rollins who hit Akam with an enziguri and blockbuster for two as the crowd chanted “burn it down.” Maverick distracted the referee which allowed Corbin to pull down the top rope, causing Rollins to fall to the outside. They beat up on Rollins and the referee stopped Reigns from helping. Ambrose remained on the apron.

The crowd chanted for Dean as AOP continued working over Rollins. He almost made a tag but Akam pulled Ambrose off the apron. Rezar sent Reigns into the steps, then they gave him a Last Chapter. Corbin gave Rollins a Deep Six for a near fall. Rollins caught Akam with a superkick, then made the hot tag to Ambrose.

Ambrose hit Corbin with clotheslines, a knee to the gut, running forearm and small package for two. Ambrose went to the top but Akam knocked him down. Ambrose ducked a clothesline from Corbin and followed with a neckbreaker and diving elbow drop, but AOP broke up the cover.

Reigns gave Rezar a superman punch, Akam booted Reigns, Rollins took out Akam, gave Corbin a curb stomp, then gave Akam a suicide dive. Ambrose gave Corbin a Dirty Deeds, took out Rezar with a suicide dive, then Reigns finished off Corbin with a spear for the win.

Reigns and Rollins stood in the ring ready to celebrate, but waited on Ambrose who was on the outside. Ambrose took a glance at McIntyre, Ziggler and Strowman, but climbed back in the ring to pose with his pals.

WWE announces three matches for Monday’s Raw

WWE has announced three matches for Monday’s Raw.

Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre will be defending their Raw Tag Team titles against The Revival on the episode. Bobby Lashley vs. Elias and Brie Bella vs. Ruby Riott are also scheduled.

The Revival were set to challenge The B-Team for the Tag Team titles on the September 3 edition of Raw, but there was a storyline where Ziggler & McIntyre attacked Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder before the match. Ziggler & McIntyre instead faced Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas and won the titles.

Lashley faced Elias on this Monday’s Raw. Lio Rush and Kevin Owens both got involved, with the match ending in a disqualification when Rush kicked Elias.

The Bellas made the save for Ronda Rousey when The Riott Squad attacked her on Monday. Nikki Bella defeated Riott and Nikki & Brie defeated Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan in matches earlier this month. Rousey & The Bellas will be facing Riott, Morgan & Logan at Super Show-Down in Melbourne, Australia on October 6.

Monday’s Raw will be taking place at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. Chad Gable vs. Konnor is also being teased for the episode after Gable defeated Viktor last week. Konnor pushed Gable into Bobby Roode following the match.

Raw Tag Team title match set for WWE Hell in a Cell

Another match is official for Sunday’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

Tonight’s go-home edition of Raw saw one more match get added to the card, with WWE announcing that Raw Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre will defend their titles against Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose. The AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, which will host Hell in a Cell on Sunday, had been advertising the match before it was officially confirmed tonight.

After winning the titles last week, Ziggler & McIntyre retained against The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) in a rematch tonight. Rollins and Ambrose attacked Ziggler and McIntyre after the match.

There was a storyline where Baron Corbin said he would strip Roman Reigns of his Universal Championship and Rollins of his Intercontinental title if The Shield returned after being kicked out for attacking the heel roster in tonight’s opening segment. Rollins threatened to get Corbin in trouble for falsifying a police report, and Corbin made the Tag Team title match for Sunday’s PPV.

Here’s the updated card for Hell in a Cell:

  • Universal Champion Roman Reigns defending against Braun Strowman in a Hell in a Cell match
  • WWE Champion AJ Styles defending against Samoa Joe
  • Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey defending against Alexa Bliss
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defending against Becky Lynch
  • Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy in a Hell in a Cell match
  • Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse
  • Raw Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre defending against Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day defending against the winners of tomorrow’s number one contender’s match (Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Rusev & Aiden English)

WWE Raw video highlights: Strowman aligns with Ziggler & McIntyre

Braun Strowman turned against Roman Reigns during the main event of last night’s Raw and found a couple of allies to go against The Shield.

In the opening segment, Strowman announced that he was cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase for a Hell in a Cell match for the Universal Championship at next month’s pay-per-view. Strowman & Reigns vs. Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre was set up for the main event, but Strowman refused to come in the ring when Reigns made the tag.

When he entered the ring, Strowman joined Ziggler and McIntyre in attacking Reigns. They fought off Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins as they tried to make the save. The show ended with Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre raising their arms after laying out all three members of The Shield.

Also on Raw, Trish Stratus made a surprise appearance in her hometown of Toronto, Kevin Owens got on the microphone to say that he “quits” in an angle after losing to Seth Rollins, and The Revival defeated Tag Team Champions The B-Team in a non-title match.

Two more matches confirmed for WWE Super Show-Down

More matches have been added for October’s WWE Super Show-Down event in Melbourne, Australia.

Right after Raw went off the air, a match pitting The Shield against Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre was announced on Twitter. This came after Strowman turned on Roman Reigns in their tag team match against McIntyre and Ziggler on Raw. After not helping Reigns as he was being assaulted by his opponents, Strowman turned, laying out Reigns with a headbutt. The rest of the Shield arrived to make the save, but this time the numbers were even. Strowman ended up laying all three members of the Shield out with powerslams.

Also made for Super Show-Down is a six-woman tag team match with Ronda Rousey teaming with the Bella Twins to take on the Riott Squad. It was announced on Raw that the Bellas would be making their televised in-ring return next week against the Riott Squad.

Here is what the card is looking like so far for Super Show-Down, which will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 6:

  • The Undertaker vs. Triple H
  • John Cena and Bobby Lashley vs. Elias and Kevin Owens
  • Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins vs. The Riott Squad
  • The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre
  • Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz with the winner getting a future WWE title shot

HHH appearance, Rousey segment, Ambrose vs. Ziggler set for Raw

WWE has made a few announcements for tonight’s episode of Raw.

WWE uploaded a video with Renee Young today where she revealed that Triple H will be appearing on tonight’s show. Young said that he’ll be addressing the audience tonight as we get closer to WWE’s Super Show-Down pay-per-view in Melbourne, Australia on October 6. Triple H vs. The Undertaker is set for Super Show-Down, with it being billed as the final time they’ll face each other.

Ronda Rousey won her first professional wrestling title at SummerSlam last night, defeating Alexa Bliss in a one-sided match to become Raw Women’s Champion. WWE is hyping that Rousey will be celebrating her title win on Raw.

Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler is also scheduled for tonight. This will be Ambrose’s first televised match since he returned from injury last week after being out of action for nearly eight months. At SummerSlam, Ambrose was in Seth Rollins’ corner as Rollins defeated Ziggler (with Drew McIntyre in his corner) to win the Intercontinental title.

Ambrose also took part in a dark match after Raw went off the air last week.

WWE is back at the Barclays Center for tonight’s Raw. Brock Lesnar is advertised to appear after dropping the Universal Championship to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam.

WWE Salisbury, MD, live results: Roman Reigns vs. Dolph Ziggler

Submitted by Kevin Elliott

– Finn Balor defeated Baron Corbin

Balor won with the Coup de Grace.

– Bobby Roode, Titus O’Neil, Apollo Crews & Zack Ryder defeated Jinder Mahal, The Authors of Pain & Mojo Rawley

Roode pinned Mahal after hitting the Glorious DDT.

– Bray Wyatt & Matt Hardy defeated The Revival

Hardy got the pin with the Twist of Fate.

– Braun Strowman defeated Kevin Owens in a street fight

The only offense Owens had was hitting two chair shots. The finish came after Strowman gave Owens a running powerslam through a table that was set up in the corner.

– Elias did his normal promo before being interrupted by Bobby Lashley. It led to them singing “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” together before Elias gave Lashley a cheap shot. Lashley fought back and hit a delayed vertical suplex.

– Ember Moon defeated Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss by DQ

Alicia Fox interfered for the disqualification. Dana Brooke came to the rescue, followed by Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, Sasha Banks, and Bayley coming out. It led to an eight-woman tag match.

– Ember Moon, Sasha Banks, Bayley & Dana Brooke defeated Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan & Alicia Fox

The match broke down near the end, leaving Moon to hit The Eclipse for the win. This was my favorite match of the night, and it got “This is awesome” chants from the crowd.

– Roman Reigns defeated Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler by DQ

Drew McIntyre was ejected from ringside during the match but returned to save Ziggler after Reigns hit a Superman Punch. They beatdown Reigns, but he fought back and hit a Superman Punch on McIntyre and gave Ziggler a spear.

Reigns took some photos and signed autographs around ringside to end the night. Seth Rollins wasn’t on the event due to being on a promotional tour of China to promote next month’s house show in Shanghai.

Two more matches confirmed for WWE SummerSlam

Two rematches from Extreme Rules will be taking place at SummerSlam.

Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens has been announced for the pay-per-view, along with Seth Rollins again challenging for Dolph Ziggler’s Intercontinental Championship. Owens vs. Strowman has a stipulation where, regardless of how he wins, Owens will get the Money in the Bank briefcase if he defeats Strowman.

In storyline, Owens suggested the match and stipulation on tonight’s episode of Raw. Kurt Angle called it absurd, but Stephanie McMahon overruled him.

Owens defeated Strowman in their steel cage match at Extreme Rules when Strowman threw him off the cage and through the announce table. Ziggler retained against Rollins in their 30-minute Iron Man match after they went into overtime tied at 4-4. Ziggler hit the Zig Zag to win after a distraction from Drew McIntyre.

Rollins teamed with Finn Balor against Ziggler & McIntyre on tonight’s Raw. Rollins pinned Ziggler with the Curb Stomp before their match was announced for SummerSlam.

The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York will host SummerSlam on August 19. Here’s the updated card:

  • Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Roman Reigns or Bobby Lashley
  • Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defending against Ronda Rousey
  • WWE Champion AJ Styles defending against an opponent that will be announced on this week’s SmackDown
  • Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler defending against Seth Rollins
  • Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens (Owens gets Strowman’s Money in the Bank briefcase if he wins)
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers defending against the winners of SmackDown’s tag team tournament

Iron Man match for Intercontinental title set for WWE Extreme Rules

Another match between Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins has been set, this time for Extreme Rules.

Kurt Angle made the announcement this afternoon on his Twitter account.

“@HEELZiggler and @WWERollins are two of the best competitors on #Raw…and they’ll have their opportunity to see who’s better at #ExtremeRules… in a 30-minute #IronMan Match for the #ICTitle” he tweeted.

Their feud started two weeks ago on Raw when Ziggler defeated Rollins to win the title. Drew McIntyre, Ziggler’s tag team partner got involved. Ziggler went for a roll up, which Rollins countered with one of his own. He went for another, but Ziggler grabbed the tights and won the title.

The rematch, which took place last week, ended when McIntyre dragged the referee to the floor and attacked Rollins, causing a DQ. Roman Reigns came in to even things up, forming a mini Shield reunion to close out the show.

Extreme Rules will take place July 15 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the PPG Paints Arena.

WWE Bismarck live results: Rollins & Reigns vs. Ziggler & McIntyre

Submitted by Travis Tolstedt

– Bobby Lashley defeated Jinder Mahal (w/ Sunil Singh)

The crowd was really into this. Singh, who was wearing a neck brace, interfered a lot throughout the match. Lashley won after dodging a clothesline from Mahal that ended up hitting Singh.

– Bayley & Natalya defeated The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan)

As far as effort from the talent and crowd reaction, this was a pretty great match. I’d say it was the best of the night. Bayley was probably the most over person on the show. She was being cheered by everyone, gave away about six or seven different merch items, and gave hugs to about 10 little girls. If she was supposed to turn heel last week, it did not show at this event at all.

The Riott Squad started working over Natalya early on. Bayley kept trying to get the hot tag but was unsuccessful for about eight minutes. I thought that maybe Bayley would “snap” or have some type of anger issue and get disqualified or something, but she did end up eventually getting the hot tag to a huge pop and just squashed the Riott Squad until she got the pin on Morgan.

Natalya sold her knee during and after the match. Bayley took selfies and signed autographs for people after it was over.

– Matt Hardy defeated Mojo Rawley

Bray Wyatt wasn’t on the show. Aside from some “Delete” and “Twist of Fate” chants, the crowd was a lot quieter for this. Hardy won with the Twist of Fate but didn’t seem to have much range of motion here.

– Elias came out and played guitar for a long time before he said anything — he played for much longer than I’ve seen on TV. He then did a generic promo dissing the town.

– Braun Strowman & Bobby Roode defeated Elias & Baron Corbin

Five minutes of Elias and Corbin arguing about who would face Strowman first ended with Elias starting the match. Strowman got loud cheers and “Get these hands’ chants. He tossed Elias around a bit before tagging in Roode.

Elias and Corbin worked over Roode for five or six minutes before Strowman got the hot tag and ended up pinning Corbin.

– The Authors of Pain defeated Apollo Crews & Titus O’Neil and Heath Slater & Rhyno

Dana Brooke entered with Titus Worldwide but immediately went backstage after their entrance. The fans were really into Rhyno, doing a lot of “ECW” chants. They played on it pretty well and waited to tag in Rhyno until the very end.

Rhyno had a small hot tag but eventually missed a Gore on one of the AOP and they pinned him.

– Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defeated Sasha Banks to retain her title

Banks had about a third of the cheers that Bayley did, and the crowd wasn’t too into this. It was a lot of Bliss just throwing Banks out of the ring for nine counts. After a couple of small comebacks from Banks, it ended with a quick roll-up where Bliss was pulling Banks’ tights.

Like with Bayley, there was no sign that Banks was a heel here. She was handing out merch before the match too.

– Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns defeated Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre

I thought almost everyone would be cheering Reigns in Bismarck, but he was booed by about 40 percent of the crowd. It was an incredibly slow-starting match. There were about 10 minutes of locks and holds to start, and I think everyone got a turn to have control of someone and bring them to the floor and back up again.

The chemistry between McIntyre and Reigns was great and they worked well together. Eventually, Ziggler and Mcintyre started working over Rollins. That built to Reigns getting a hot tag and a huge pop, followed by long boos. He went for his Superman Punch about 10 times and finally hit one on McIntyre, but he didn’t get the pin and Ziggler and McIntyre started working him over.

It ended with Rollins getting a tag and hitting the Curb Stomp on McIntyre for the win.

WWE Raw video highlights: Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins got his rematch for the Intercontinental Championship in the main event of last night’s Raw.

The match went for nearly 30 minutes, ending in a disqualification as Drew McIntyre pulled the referee out of the ring and attacked Rollins. Roman Reigns then came out to make the save and help Rollins even the odds.

Reigns was also involved in the opening segment, where it was announced that the multi-man number one contender’s match that had been scheduled for Extreme Rules was “no longer on the table.” Reigns vs. Bobby Lashley was instead teased, and they again teamed together against The Revival. Tension between them led to Dash Wilder rolling up Reigns for the finish.

Sasha Banks and Bayley’s storyline was advanced as Bayley snapped on Banks after a six-woman tag. Both will have to attend “mandatory counseling” on next week’s episode.

Date: June 25, 2018
Location: Valley View Casino Centre in San Diego, CA

The Big Takeaway —

A great main event ended in a DQ after Drew McIntyre saved Dolph Ziggler from losing his IC title to Seth Rollins. They beat up Rollins after the match until Roman Reigns made the save.

Outside of that, the story of the show was teams that couldn’t get along. Bayley attacked Sasha Banks and laid her out after their team lost to the Riott Squad. Bayley destroyed Banks and the crowd cheered her for it.

The Revival beat Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley (with Dash Wilder pinning Reigns) because the latter two couldn’t stay on the same page. Finn Balor and Baron Corbin couldn’t get along as a team either and lost via count-out. Kevin Owens and Braun Strowman won that match, but Strowman ended up flipping Owen’s car.

They aired a graphic for Vader but did not show a tribute video or do anything else.

Show Recap —

A graphic aired in memory of “Vader” Leon White (1955-2018). RIP.

Kurt Angle and Baron Corbin were in the ring to start the show. JoJo only introduced Angle, so Corbin demanded she introduce him, too, which is only fair. He was booed. Angle referenced Paul Heyman’s lengthy Facebook post, which started rumours around Brock Lesnar’s status. Angle wanted to clear things up, but Roman Reigns interrupted.

Reigns took his time to get to the ring and told Angle he wanted to hear this face-to-face. Of course, Bobby Lashley came out next because he wanted to hear it too. He also reminded Reigns that he’s just proven over the past three years that he can’t beat Brock. Reigns thought it was funny that Lashley wanted him to move on because that’s what he did ten years ago.

Reigns said Lashley main evented WrestleMania but wanted to be a star in MMA, which didn’t exactly work out. And while Lashley was doing nothing, Reigns main evented Mania four years in a row–and wants to make it five. Lashley said he was the only one who had legit tools to beat Lesnar.

Angle said there was no match at Extreme Rules anymore. Lesnar backed out of the deal. Lashley was confused, so Reigns informed him this is what Lesnar does. He was about to swear but Angle stopped him. Lashley said Lesnar might be interested in working if he could face anyone but Reigns. He said Lesnar was tired of Reigns, just like the people were. They cheered.

Reigns challenged Lashley to a match at Extreme Rules now that they were free. Angle said he would consider it. The Revival interrupted. They wanted a rematch. They asked Angle, but Corbin accepted on his behalf.

They plugged Jeff Hardy defending the US Title against Shinsuke Nakamura for Smackdown.

The Revival defeated Roman Reigns & Bobby Lashley (13:00)

The Revival worked over Lashley for a bit until he made the tag to Reigns, who hit Scott Dawson with clotheslines and a big boot. Dash Wilder pulled Dawson out of the ring, so Reigns gave Wilder the drive-by. Dawson sold it like he was hit too, but he wasn’t.

After a break, Revival were in control of Reigns. After a while, Reigns gave Dawson a Samoan drop and made the hot tag to Lashley, who nailed back elbows and suplexes to both guys. He gave Wilder the delayed vertical then sized him up for a spear. Reigns tagged himself in, though, and hit a superman punch. Lashley feigned a blind tag, but Reigns backed away.

Dawson tried to attack, so Reigns side-stepped and launched him into Lashley, who fell off the apron. Reigns gave Dawson a spear, but Wilder was the legal man and used a schoolboy on Reigns, holding the tights, for the pinfall win.

Lashley mockingly clapped for Reigns then told him to let him finish it next time. Reigns was sad.

Matt Hardy said the B-Team’s performance last week was wonderful, and the best he has seen since being at the Globe Theatre with his friend Bill Shakespeare. Bray Wyatt warned them that they were entering the lion’s den. After a break, the B-Team did another parody video of Hardy and Wyatt.

They aired a promo for Rey Mysterio as an unlockable character in WWE 2K19. It also made it seem like he was returning, though they never outright said it. It was a cool promo. They had different wrestlers pulling off a Mysterio mask, with each making a comment about him, finally ending with Mysterio himself.

Curtis Axel (w/Bo Dallas) defeated Matt Hardy (w/Bray Wyatt) (0:54)

Hardy set up for a superplex but Axel turned it into a crossbody for the surprisingly quick pinfall win. They tried to make it seem like Hardy slipped, but that’s not really what happened and they didn’t show a replay. Afterwards, Hardy said Axel’s methods were wonderful and led the crowd in an ovation for the B-Team.

They recapped what happened last week between Sasha Banks and Bayley, then Banks was shown speaking with Angle backstage. Banks wasn’t happy with whatever he was saying.

Authors of Pain walked through the back and shoved down a stagehand. The crowd cheered upon seeing them. They bumped into Apollo Crews, Titus O’Neil and Dana Brooke. O’Neil told them to show some respect for the hard-working crew. AOP said thanks but no thanks for the advice.

Bayley welcomed back Alicia Fox and hugged her. Angle told Bayley she would be teaming with Banks again tonight (along with Ember Moon) and Bayley wasn’t happy.

Authors of Pain defeated Rich & Rex Gibson (1:02)

AOP killed two jobbers and won with the Last Chapter. AOP attacked them after the match until O’Neil and Crews ran out. AOP left.

Finn Balor approached Angle and Corbin backstage, and got a pretty big pop when he appeared. Balor wanted to know why Lesnar cancelled the match. Corbin thought Balor would just come up “short” again anyway, just like last week when Corbin pinned him. Balor asked Corbin if his manager at TGI Fridays knew that he stole the vest he was wearing. The crowd laughed.

Braun Strowman showed up and said he felt bad about throwing Kevin Owens through walls and tables considering Owens still wanted to be his friend. Strowman wanted to give it a shot and asked Angle to make them a team tonight. Strowman thought Balor and Corbin would make good opponents and Angle agreed. Balor made another crack about Corbin looking like a waiter.

Alexa Bliss and Mickie James came out for a promo. James introduced Bliss as a three-time Raw Women’s Champion and the crowd booed. They talked about Ronda Rousey and said she deserved to be suspended. The crowd chanted “we want Rousey.” Bliss thought she deserved a better reward than having to defend her title against Nia Jax.

She claimed Jax was still in therapy after what Rousey did to her. She said Jax thought her feel-good story came to an end at WrestleMania, but really, Bliss was the hero of this story. The crowd started booing through her promo, the way they would to Vickie Guerrero or Stephanie McMahon. This was followed by “you suck” chants.

Natalya interrupted. She said it would be just 23 days until her friend Ronda returned to deal with Bliss. Bliss was surprised that Natalya left her five-star vacation with the cast of Total Divas and told her she didn’t have to post everything she does on social media.

Natalya let her know that Angle put them in a match tonight. Natalya also had backup, which brought out Nia Jax, who appears to be a babyface again.

Natalya (w/Nia Jax) defeated Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss (w/Mickie James) in a non-title match

Bliss gained control after kicking Natalya’s leg out of her leg, but Natalya responded with a Michinoku Driver. Bliss then did her Insult to Injury spot but basically whiffed. Natalya made a comeback but was distracted by James, allowing Bliss to hit a forearm. The referee yelled at James, which allowed Jax to trip Bliss. Natalya then applied the Sharpshooter and Bliss tapped.

As Natalya and Jax celebrated, James cradled Bliss like a baby for a moment before they walked away.

Seth Rollins told Charly Caruso that Drew McIntyre would have the best seat in the house to watch him beat Dolph Ziggler and take back his Intercontinental title.

Elsewhere, Jinder Mahal was doing a photo shoot when the Riott Squad showed up to smash the camera. Mahal was unperturbed, because he’s all about peace now. The Riott Squad appeared nonplussed and left.

The Riott Squad defeated Sasha Banks, Bayley & Ember Moon (7:01)

Michael Cole stressed that this was the final opportunity for Banks and Bayley to “get along,” even though it’s not something either of them wanted anyway. Ember nailed Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan with a suicide dive and they cut to commercial 90 seconds into the match.

The teams went back and forth until Ruby picked up the win with a small package on Banks.

Immediately afterwards, Bayley jumped in the ring and wildly attacked Banks. The crowd popped huge even though it was presumably a heel turn. They kept cheering as Bayley continued the attack. She twice tossed Banks into the steps and the crowd chanted Bayley’s name.

Bayley yelled in Banks’ face. When Bayley was done, her happy theme music played, which was unintentionally amusing. Officials ran down to check on Banks as Bayley stormed off.

Angle told a referee to let him know as soon as he finds Bayley. Owens approached Angle and pleaded with him not to pair him with Strowman. Owens reminded Angle about Strowman running him over and tossing him off a “40-foot ladder.” He also thought Strowman wanted to eat him. Angle thought they could be friends. (He thought this about Banks and Bayley, too.)

No Way Jose vs. Mojo Rawley

The match never happened. Rawley cut a promo saying Jose’s conga line didn’t deserve to walk down a WWE ramp, and neither did Jose. He got in one of their faces and asked his name. He answered, “Todd” and the crowd loudly chanted for Todd.

Rawley was embarrassed for Todd, who dressed as a cheeseburger. Rawley refused the rematch with Jose. Jose confronted Rawley, so Rawley punched him in the face and walked away. Jose got up but didn’t go after Rawley for some reason. The crowd chanted, “we want Todd.” Rawley came off well here. Jose did not.

Angle accused Bayley of not caring about Raw or the “women’s evolution.” Angle told her she had to go to counselling next week. Bayley thought it was absurd she had to do that and not Banks. Angle said she put Banks in the trainer’s room. Bayley refused, but Angle said she had to or she was fired. The crowd booed.

Braun Strowman & Kevin Owens defeated Finn Balor & Baron Corbin via count-out (11:40)

The story early on was Strowman and Owens getting along, mostly at the behest of Strowman. After a break, Owens made an overly dramatic tag to Strowman who ran wild on Corbin and Balor. He ran around the ring and ran over both guys. He then tagged in Owens and told him to do the same. Owens tackled Balor but Corbin knocked him down with a clothesline.

Strowman went to save Owens but ran into the post. Balor gave Owens a sling blade, then Corbin tagged himself in by slapping Balor in the back of the head. Balor kicked him off the apron, then Corbin yanked him out of the ring. They brawled up the ramp as Owens, Strowman and the referee counted them out. Strowman and Owens won. The crowd didn’t seem to know how to react to the match.

Afterwards, Owens offered a handshake. Strowman just stared at him so Owens left the ring and sprinted up the ramp, which was funny. Strowman grabbed his briefcase and left the ring, so Owens ran to the back and Strowman chased after.

They cut to the back and Owens hid in the San Diego Gulls coaches room. Strowman asked a concessions guy where Kevin Owens went, but the guy didn’t know who that was. Strowman said he looks like he has a bowling ball under his shirt, then Strowman marched off in the wrong direction.

After a break, Owens tried leaving but the valet guy didn’t have his car keys. Strowman did. Strowman tossed Owens his keys and said he hoped he had insurance. Owens turned around and saw his car was flipped over. Strowman chuckled and walked away.

Seth Rollins defeated Dolph Ziggler (w/Drew McIntyre) via DQ in an Intercontinental Title match (27:47)

About 14 minutes into the match, Rollins was about to do a suicide dive but McIntyre clubbed him from behind as the referee was distracted by Ziggler. The ref figured out what happened and tossed McIntyre from ringside but he wouldn’t leave.

Rollins rolled up Ziggler and had the match won but the ref was distracted by McIntyre this time. Rollins gave Ziggler an enziguri then took out both guys with a suicide dive. Ziggler then tripped Rollins off the top rope and tried a pin for a two count.

After a break, Rollins slipped out of a sleeper and hit a ripcord knee for a nearfall. The crowd chanted for Rollins. McIntyre was gone from ringside. Ziggler gave Rollins a jumping DDT on the apron, which was nuts. Rollins just barely made it back in the ring before a ten count. “This is awesome” chants.

Ziggler went for a superkick but Rollins grabbed him, hit the buckle bomb and a superkick for a nearfall. Rollins followed with a frog splash for another nearfall. Ziggler avoided a stomp, then Rollins slipped out of a Zig Zag. They traded roll-ups, then Ziggler hit a Zig Zag for a nearfall.

Rollins nailed the superplex and falcon arrow but the referee was pulled out of the ring by McIntyre. McIntyre attacked Rollins and the referee called for the bell.

Ziggler and McIntyre continued the attack until Roman Reigns came out to make the save. He speared Ziggler and gave McIntyre a superman punch. JoJo announced Rollins the winner, but Ziggler is still the champion. The match was excellent until the finish.

WWE Boise live results: Rollins & Reigns vs. Ziggler & McIntyre

Submitted by David Root

– Bayley & Dana Brooke defeated The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott & Sarah Logan)

Bayley got a lot of cheers, Dana Brooke practically got no reaction, and The Riott Squad generated decent heat.

– WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander defeated Kalisto to retain his title

This was a fun match, with Kalisto being pretty over.

– The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) defeated Breezango and Titus O’Neil & Apollo Crews

The B-Team got over because they were shown putting on Boise State hats backstage.

– Mojo Rawley defeated No Way Jose

Jose got a big pop, but there was a collective groan and some booing when Rawley’s music hit.

– Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley & Finn Balor defeated Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens & Baron Corbin

All three babyfaces were over, especially Strowman. Owens got a few cheers, and Mahal had the most heat of anyone on the show.

– There was an in-ring segment with Elias and Bobby Roode next. Elias was fantastic. He was able to get the crowd to chant and sing along with him, then generate massive heat by insulting the city. He’s like a reverse Mick Foley — the master of cheap heat.

Elias and Roode sang “Sweet Child O’ Mine” together. When Roode interrupted, Elias attacked him. Roode fought him off to end the segment.

– Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defeated Sasha Banks to retain her title

Both wrestlers were pretty over.

– Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns defeated Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre

Rollins was incredibly over, getting very big “Burn it down” chants and winning it for his team. Reigns got mostly cheers but received some boos as well. McIntyre looked huge.

Intercontinental title rematch announced for WWE Raw next week

After losing the Intercontinental Championship on Raw, Seth Rollins will be getting his rematch next week.

Rollins dropped the title to Dolph Ziggler tonight. The storyline was that Rollins called himself a fighting champion and issued an open challenge despite not being recovered from his match against Elias at Money in the Bank.

Ziggler accepted the challenge and won by pinning Rollins while holding onto his tights. Near the finish, Drew McIntyre caused a distraction that allowed Ziggler to get a near fall. Rollins tried to pin Ziggler while grabbing his tights (like he did against Elias), but Ziggler reversed it for the win. Ziggler and McIntyre laid out Rollins after the match.

Rollins later did an interview where he said he wasn’t going to make any excuses by blaming his loss on it being so soon after facing Elias. Rollins announced that he would be getting his rematch against Ziggler next week.

Two more matches added to WWE Backlash card

While the build to the show has been complicated by the Superstar Shakeup and Greatest Royal Rumble, WWE continues to add matches to the lineup for Backlash.

Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass and SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella defending her title against Charlotte Flair were confirmed for the pay-per-view tonight. While returning from the torn ACL that he suffered last summer, Cass moved to SmackDown in the Superstar Shakeup and began his program with Bryan. Carmella cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win the title from Charlotte two weeks ago when Charlotte had been attacked by The IIconics.

Cass took Bryan’s place on Miz TV tonight, explaining why he laid him out last week. He blamed Bryan for stealing the spotlight from Cass being cleared to return and said he despises Bryan because he reminds him of himself when he was a “little guy” and was getting pushed around. It was then revealed that Bryan had been attacked backstage before the segment.

Carmella and Charlotte had a contract signing this week, with Charlotte standing tall after flipping the table onto Carmella.

Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe, Alexa Bliss getting her rematch for Nia Jax’s Raw Women’s Championship, and Seth Rollins putting his Intercontinental title on the line against The Miz are the other matches that have been announced for Backlash. It’s the first event that’s been affected by WWE’s switch to all dual-brand PPVs and will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on May 6th.
