AEW Collision viewership and 18-49 demo rating down

Saturday night’s AEW Collision averaged 339,000 viewers on TNT, down 38.8 percent from the previous week’s one-hour airing of the show. This is the smallest audience total for Collision since the March 1 episode that went against WWE Elimination Chamber.

Collision drew a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 55 percent from the previous Saturday and is also the lowest rating the show has done in that category since March 1.

The show faced strong competition from NCAA basketball tournament games on multiple channels, as well as going against a UFC Fight Night broadcast.

As compared to the same week in 2024 (with similar competition), Collision’s overall viewership was down 26 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 18.2 percent. The year-over-year comparison does not factor in people who are now streaming the show on Max.

Listed below are the last 11 weeks of viewership totals and 18-49 demo ratings for Collision, along with the 10-week average in both categories. This week’s show was down 8.8 percent in overall viewers and 18.2 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages.

Update on future AEW vs. WWE Saturday night competition

Going forward, there could be less competition between AEW and WWE on Saturday nights.

The TNT schedule recently revealed that Collision will not be airing against the first night of WrestleMania 41. Instead, that week’s Collision will be broadcast live on Thursday, April 17. Dave Meltzer discussed the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that Warner Bros. Discovery and AEW are monitoring the possibility of having less AEW vs. WWE competition on Saturdays in the future.

Meltzer brought up Memorial Day weekend this May as another Saturday where Collision could be moved so that it does not air opposite WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“I think the same thing is going to happen — I don’t know that this is as a fact, but the week of Memorial Day weekend, I think that they are going to run, instead of going head-to-head with Saturday Night’s Main Event, I think that they’re going to run on Thursday,” Meltzer said. “And the interesting thing here — I have not been told that, but I was told that they are monitoring the situations when it comes to Saturdays with WWE major shows, in particular Saturday Night’s Main Event, because TBS doesn’t want to go against a wrestling show on NBC, understandably so — or TNT doesn’t. And, you know, perhaps pay-per-views as well. Obviously they don’t want to go against WrestleMania. And also that week, there’s probably other commitments for TNT anyway.”

The April 17 episode of Collision is taking place live from the MGM Music Hall in Boston. Dynamite and Collision are being held at the venue on back-to-back nights with both shows being branded as special Sping BreakThru episodes.

Slam Dunk weekend draws strong ratings for AEW Collision

Slam Dunk weekend proved to be a ratings success for AEW Collision.

Due to NCAA March Madness, Collision was split into two one-hour episodes this past weekend, airing late on both Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday episode averaged 554,000 viewers with the benefit of the basketball lead-in. That’s up 35.8 percent from the prior week’s broadcast in Collision’s regular time slot and is the best viewership for the show since December 21 of last year (which had a college football playoff game as the lead-in).

Saturday’s episode drew a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demo, up 100 percent from the previous week. It’s the highest rating Collision has done since the February 15 Grand Slam Australia special that aired after the NBA All-Star skills competition.

The Sunday episode, also airing after NCAA basketball, averaged 584,000 viewers, beating Saturday for the best Collision audience since December 21. It’s Collision’s second-highest viewership total since April 2024.

Sunday’s Collision drew a 0.22 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is the third-highest rating the show has done in that category in its history and is the best rating for Collision since July 2023. It ties the highest 18-49 rating for any AEW program since the September 24 episode of Dynamite.

There is no year-over-year comparison because the show did not air this week in 2024 due to the NCAA tournament.

Listed below are the last 11 weeks of viewership totals and 18-49 demo ratings for Collision, along with the 10-week average in both categories. For a more accurate comparison, the average of the two hours is included for this week. The show was up 63.2 percent in total viewers and 110 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages.

AEW Collision viewership up, 18-49 rating steady

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 408,000 viewers on TNT, up 12.4% from the previous week. It was the largest audience for the show since February 22nd.

Collision averaged a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo, finishing third on the cable charts according to Wrestlenomics. That was identical to last week and matches the second lowest rating the show has done in that category since February 1st.

The show went head to head with the ACC Championship game between Louisville and Duke that topped all cable with a 0.59 18-49 rating and over 3 million viewers.

As compared to the same week in 2024, the overall viewership was up 3.8% while the 18-49 rating was down 16.7%, so the audience on cable is skewing much older although this does not include people who watched on the MAX streaming service. It’s the second week in the last four that Collision has had a year over year increase in total viewers.

Listed below are the last 11 weeks of overall viewership and 18-49 demo ratings for AEW Collision on TNT as well as the 10 week average in both categories. This week’s show was up 19.2% in overall viewers but even in 18-49 as compared to recent averages.

AEW Collision ratings up with no WWE PLE competition

Saturday night’s AEW Collision episode averaged 363,000 viewers on TNT, up 29.6 percent from the previous week where the show went head-to-head with WWE’s Elimination Chamber PLE. It’s the second-lowest audience total the show has done since February 1.

Collision drew a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 66.7 percent from last week but ties the second-lowest rating the show has done in that category since the February 1 airing.

The episode was taped in advance and was the go-home show for AEW’s Revolution PPV. It faced competition from ESPN’s UFC 313 prelims on Saturday night.

As compared to the same week in 2024, Collision’s overall viewership was down 15 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 23.1 percent.

Listed below are the last 11 weeks of viewership totals and 18-49 demo ratings for Collision, along with the 10-week average in both categories. This week’s show was down 1.8 percent in overall viewers and 9.1 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages.

AEW Collision airing two one-hour episodes during NCAA tournament weekend

During the weekend of March 22-23, AEW Collision will be airing two one-hour episodes.

The TNT schedule lists that AEW will present new Collision episodes on both Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23. The episodes will be one hour each and are slated to begin at 11 p.m. Eastern time, immediately following coverage of games from the second round of the 2025 men’s March Madness college basketball tournament.

These shows are being taped at Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, March 19 (along with that night’s live episode of Dynamite). They will be broken up into two one-hour broadcasts instead of the traditional two-hour Collision show.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer called this an “experiment” for TNT to give Collision two lead-ins from the NCAA tournament that weekend instead of just one.

The Collision episodes are taking place during the build to AEW’s Dynasty pay-per-view, which is being held in Philadelphia on Sunday, April 6.

AEW Collision ratings down against WWE Elimination Chamber

Going against WWE Elimination Chamber, Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 280,000 viewers on TNT, down 33.5 percent from the previous week. It’s the lowest audience total for the show since it went head-to-head with the Royal Rumble on February 1.

Collision drew a 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 50 percent from last week and is also the lowest rating the show has done in that category since the February 1 episode.

The week-to-week drop was expected given that Collision numbers always take a hit against WWE PLE competition. As compared to the same week in 2024, without similar competition, the show’s overall viewership was down 38.5 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 53.9 percent.

Listed below are the last 11 weeks of overall viewership totals and 18-49 demo ratings for Collision, as well as the 10-week average in both categories. This week’s show was down 23.5 percent in total viewers and 45.5 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages.
