AEW Collision airing two one-hour episodes during NCAA tournament weekend

During the weekend of March 22-23, AEW Collision will be airing two one-hour episodes.

The TNT schedule lists that AEW will present new Collision episodes on both Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23. The episodes will be one hour each and are slated to begin at 11 p.m. Eastern time, immediately following coverage of games from the second round of the 2025 men’s March Madness college basketball tournament.

These shows are being taped at Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, March 19 (along with that night’s live episode of Dynamite). They will be broken up into two one-hour broadcasts instead of the traditional two-hour Collision show.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer called this an “experiment” for TNT to give Collision two lead-ins from the NCAA tournament that weekend instead of just one.

The Collision episodes are taking place during the build to AEW’s Dynasty pay-per-view, which is being held in Philadelphia on Sunday, April 6.

AEW reportedly planning first TNT supercard special for January

AEW’s first TNT special event is reportedly being planned for January.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast reported today that AEW is planning to hold its first TNT special on Saturday, January 8. Zarian wrote that “Battle of the Belts” is a possible name for the show.

“Per Source: AEW is planning a TNT Special on Jan 8th,” Zarian wrote. “They’re obviously not able to use the name ‘Clash of the Champions’ due to WWE owning the rights… However, I’m hearing the possible name for this show will be ‘Battle of the Belts’ A throwback to NWA/CFW.”

AEW filed a trademark for “Battle of the Belts” this September.

When WarnerMedia announced in May that AEW Dynamite would be moving to TBS at the start of 2022, it was noted that part of AEW’s new agreement was that the promotion would now have four Saturday “supercard” specials on TNT each year.

AEW Rampage was initially scheduled to also move to TBS at the start of 2022, but the show will instead be staying on TNT.

AEW introducing TNT Championship, tournament to begin on April 8

A new championship title is coming to AEW.

AEW announced today that they’re introducing the TNT Championship. An eight-man, single-elimination tournament to crown the first champion will begin on the Wednesday, April 8 episode of Dynamite. AEW’s press release said the finals of the tournament are scheduled for Double or Nothing in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 23.

Half of the bracket for the tournament will be revealed on AEW Dark tomorrow, while the other half will be revealed on Wednesday’s Dynamite. AEW hyped that the tournament will feature “the biggest names in AEW all vying for the inaugural TNT CHAMPIONSHIP belt.”

“It’s been a privilege working with Kevin Reilly and TNT to bring fans the best live wrestling show week after week on AEW: DYNAMITE, especially during these tumultuous times,” AEW president and CEO Tony Khan said.

“I’m glad we’re now able to announce the TNT CHAMPIONSHIP. The first ever titleholder will be determined by an unforgettable tournament that fans will not want to miss, and that our wrestlers will be desperate to win. I’m excited for the announcement of the full bracket live on Dynamite this week. And, it’s only fitting that the champion and the title belt will carry the logo of the globally-respected TNT brand, and that they’ll represent not only AEW but also the great quality programming, massive reach, and storied history in the wrestling business that are all associated with TNT.”

The introduction of the TNT title was also announced on today’s Road to Dynamite episode:
