AEW Collision draws record-low viewership for regular time slot

Saturday night’s AEW Collision episode averaged 289,000 viewers on TNT, down 34.6 percent from the previous week. It’s the lowest audience total the show has ever done in its regular time slot. The only lower numbers were for a November 2023 episode that aired on a Friday and an August 2024 one that aired in the afternoon.

Collision finished 19th for the day on the cable charts with a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 23.1 percent from last week. It’s the lowest rating the show has done in that category since August 3 — and it ties Collision’s fourth-lowest rating of 2024.

The show took place during Labor Day weekend and went head-to-head with the first full week of the college football season. It also came on the same day as a WWE PLE (that aired in the afternoon), which has traditionally had a negative effect on Collision viewership.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Collision’s overall audience was down 16.2 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 9.1 percent. That’s the best the 18-49 number has held up year-over-year to date.

Collision drew the same 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demo as it did last week. It ties the highest rating the show has done in that category since July 20.

This was the last week until December where Collision won’t have college football as major competition. The show did go head-to-head with the UFC prelims on ESPN as well as MLB on Fox.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Collision’s overall viewership was down 19.9 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 18.8 percent.

Going head-to-head with WWE Money in the Bank, AEW Collision experienced a ratings drop on Saturday night.

The Collision episode averaged 306,000 viewers on TNT, down 27.5 percent from the previous week. It’s the second-lowest audience total the show has ever done on a Saturday night, ahead of only an episode from January 27 of this year that went against WWE Royal Rumble.

Collision drew a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 33.3 percent from last week and ties the second-lowest rating the show has ever done, regardless of day of the week, again beating only the January 27 episode (which did a 0.06).

In both overall viewership and the 18-49 demo, Collision was slightly below what AEW Rampage drew on Friday night (309,000 viewers and a 0.10 demo rating for Rampage).

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision, which had the benefit of a lead-in from the NBA playoffs, averaged 621,000 viewers on TNT. That’s up 34.7 percent from the previous week and is the largest audience total Collision has done since July 29 of last year. 

Collision drew a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demo, up 61.5 percent from last week. It’s also the best rating the show has done in that category since July 29 and is the third-highest rating Collision has drawn in its history.

With the lead-in from the NBA, the first 10 minutes of Collision drew a 0.49 rating in 18-49.

AEW Rampage, which aired immediately after Collision, averaged 293,000 viewers. That’s down 26.2 percent from last week, when it followed a Collision episode that averaged far less viewers. This Rampage did start a half hour later, however.

Rampaged drew a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 30.8 percent from last week.

The overall audience is Rampage’s second lowest of 2024 to date, while the 18-49 rating is tied for Rampage’s third-lowest rating of the year in that category.

This week, Rampage will again be airing outside of its normal Friday time slot. There will be a live episode of the show after Dynamite on Wednesday.
