NJPW New Beginning USA Nashville results: Six-man tag main event

NJPW came to the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday night for the second stop on their New Beginning USA tour. 

– Alex Zayne & Misterioso defeated Ren Narita & Alex Coughlin in 9:46

Zayne pinned Coughlin after hitting a Shooting Star double knee drop.

– YOSHI-HASHI defeated Karl Fredericks in 8:48

YOSHI-HASHI won with the Butterfly Lock.

NJPW announced overnight that Fredericks suffered a right shoulder injury and is off the three remaining New Beginning USA tour shows.

– Colt Cabana & Toru Yano defeated TJP & Clark Connors in 13:22

Cabana used his Superman pin on Connors.

– Jeff Cobb defeated Satoshi Kojima in 10:02

Cobb hit Tour of the Islands to pick up the win.

– Lance Archer defeated Yuji Nagata in 11:16

The EBD Claw got the win for Archer.

– Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Yujiro Takahashi in 10:38

Tanahashi got the win with the High Fly Flow.

– Juice Robinson, David Finlay & Rocky Romero defeated Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Chase Owens in 13:52

Romero pinned Owens with a schoolboy.

NJPW Showdown in Los Angeles results: LIJ in six-man tag action

Here are the results from tonight’s New Japan Showdown event at the Globe Theatre in Los Angeles, California. It featured a six-man tag match in the main event, with LIJ members facing off against The Bullet Club.

TJP & Amazing Red defeated Alex Zayne & Aaron Solow

– Red pinned Solow with the Code Red.

Colt Cabana & Toru Yano defeated Alex Coughlin & Karl Fredericks

– Cabana pinned Fredericks with the Superman pin.

Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer & El Desperado defeated Juice Robinson, David Finlay & Clark Connors

– Suzuki defeated Connors with the Gotch Style piledriver.

SANADA & EVIL defeated Tomohiro Ishii & Rocky Romero

– SANADA submitted Rocky with the Skull End.

Kota Ibushi defeated Ren Narita

– Ibushi submitted Narita with an elevated Boston crab.

Hirooki Goto, SHO & YOH defeated KENTA, Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo

– Goto pinned Ishimori with the GTR.

Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi & BUSHI defeated Jay White, Chase Owens & Gedo

– Takagi pinned Gedo with the Last of the Dragon.

IWGP US title match set for New Japan Cup finals

A title match has been added to the final night of this year’s New Japan Cup.

NJPW has announced that Juice Robinson will defend his IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship against Chase Owens at the New Japan Cup finals. The show is taking place in Niigata on Sunday (March 24).

Owens eliminated Robinson from the New Japan Cup in the first round. NJPW has been building to their US title match since then, with Owens laying out Robinson after tag matches.

YOSHI-HASHI defeated Owens in a second round tournament match.

Robinson is a two-time IWGP US Champion. After dropping the title to Cody Rhodes in September 2018, Robinson won it back at Wrestle Kingdom 13 in January.

The quarterfinals of the New Japan Cup will take place this Wednesday and Thursday. Kazuchika Okada vs. Will Ospreay and Tomohiro Ishii vs. YOSHI-HASHI are Wednesday’s tournament matches, while Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Zack Sabre Jr. and SANADA vs. Colt Cabana are set for Thursday.

The semifinals will then be held this Saturday. The winner of the tournament will challenge for Jay White’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship at G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 6.
