The Miz vs. Cesaro set for WWE SmackDown

Four matches are now official for this week’s episode of SmackDown.

The Miz vs. Cesaro has been announced for Tuesday’s show, which is taking place at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas. WWE is advertising that Shane McMahon will be in Miz’s corner, while Sheamus will be in Cesaro’s corner.

Miz & Shane are set to challenge for Cesaro & Sheamus’ SmackDown Tag Team titles at the Royal Rumble next Sunday (January 27).

The Miz defeated Sheamus in the main event of last week’s SmackDown. The finish came when Sheamus was distracted and Miz rolled him up for the pin. Cesaro had tried to interfere, and Shane put him through a table that had a birthday cake on it. Miz vs. Sheamus was set up as part of an angle where Cesaro and Sheamus interrupted Miz and Shane while Miz was throwing Shane “The Best Birthday Bash in the World.” After Miz won, the show ended with Shane hitting a coast-to-coast dropkick and smashing cake into Sheamus’ face.

Rey vs. Andrade in a two-out-of-three falls match, Samoa Joe vs. Mustafa Ali, and Naomi vs. Mandy Rose are the other matches that have been announced for Tuesday’s SmackDown. Vince McMahon moderating a face-to-face segment with WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles ahead of their title match at the Royal Rumble is also set for the show.

The Bar vs. Shane McMahon & The Miz set for WWE Royal Rumble

Shane McMahon & The Miz are set to challenge for the SmackDown Tag Team titles.

It was announced on this week’s SmackDown that The Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus) will defend their titles against Shane & The Miz at the Royal Rumble. That was set up after Cesaro & Sheamus defeated The Usos in a non-title match. The Miz issued a challenge to Cesaro & Sheamus in a post-match angle, and he was laid out by a Brogue Kick from Sheamus before Cesaro accepted the challenge.

The Usos would have gotten a title shot if they defeated Cesaro & Sheamus. Mandy Rose distracted Jimmy Uso near the end of the match.

The storyline for Shane and Miz is that Miz has been trying to get Shane to be his tag team partner since the World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel. Shane finally agreed to it two weeks ago, with Miz saying that he wants to team with Shane to make his father proud. Miz said his father told him that Miz & Shane would be the best tag team in the world.

Royal Rumble 2019 is taking place at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona on January 27. Here’s the updated card for the pay-per-view:

  • Women’s Royal Rumble match
  • Men’s Royal Rumble match
  • Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Braun Strowman
  • WWE Champion Daniel Bryan defending against AJ Styles
  • Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey defending against Sasha Banks
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka defending against Becky Lynch
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus defending against Shane McMahon & The Miz
  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy defending against Kalisto, Akira Tozawa, and the winner of Cedric Alexander vs. Hideo Itami (airing on this week’s 205 Live) in a fatal four-way match

Cesaro & Sheamus vs. The Usos announced for WWE SmackDown

Another match with title implications has been added to the lineup for Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown.

WWE has announced that SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus will face The Usos in a non-title match on Tuesday’s show. The stipulation for the match is that if The Usos win, they’ll get a future shot at the SmackDown Tag Team titles.

Tuesday’s SmackDown is taking place at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The episode will feature a triple threat match between Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Carmella to decide Asuka’s challenger for the Royal Rumble. That was announced after being set up in a backstage segment last week where Lynch, Charlotte, and Carmella all stated their case for a title shot to Triple H.

Tuesday’s episode should also follow up on AJ Styles winning last week’s fatal five-way number one contender’s match. Styles will challenge for Daniel Bryan’s WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble on January 27.

Two matches set for tonight’s WWE SmackDown

Two matches have been made official for tonight’s SmackDown.

Cesaro will face Xavier Woods and Jey Uso in a triple threat match, which comes in advance of Cesaro & Sheamus defending their SmackDown Tag Team titles against The New Day and The Usos in a triple threat match at WWE TLC on December 16. Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton has also been announced for tonight.

The Usos defeated Cesaro & Sheamus in a non-title match on last week’s SmackDown. The New Day defeated Cesaro, Sheamus & Big Show in a Thanksgiving Feast Fight on the November 20 episode, and last week’s SmackDown included video of an angle where Cesaro and Sheamus blamed Big Show for that loss, Big Show punched Cesaro, and Sheamus said they’d be better off without Big Show.

There was a segment on last week’s SmackDown where Jeff Hardy was celebrating his 20th anniversary with WWE before being interrupted by Samoa Joe. Orton continued his feud with Rey Mysterio by laying out Mysterio for the second straight week.

Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. Daniel Bryan appearing on Miz TV has been announced for the show. There will also be a contract signing ahead of Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Asuka’s tables, ladders, and chairs match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at TLC.

Triple threat SmackDown Tag Team title match set for WWE TLC

The Usos and The New Day will both challenge for Cesaro & Sheamus’ SmackDown Tag Team titles at TLC.

WWE announced tonight that Cesaro & Sheamus will defend their titles against The Usos and New Day in a triple threat match at TLC in San Jose, California on December 16. The Usos defeated Cesaro & Sheamus in a non-title match on this week’s SmackDown, and New Day defeated Cesaro, Sheamus & Big Show in a Thanksgiving Feast Fight on the November 20 episode.

Cesaro & Sheamus won the titles from New Day on SmackDown 1000 in October. Big Show aligned with Cesaro & Sheamus and helped them win the titles, but video of an angle aired on this week’s episode where Big Show punched Cesaro after he blamed Big Show for their loss in the Thanksgiving Feast Fight. Sheamus said they’d be better off without Big Show.

Here’s the updated card for TLC:

  • Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins defending against Dean Ambrose
  • WWE Champion Daniel Bryan defending against AJ Styles
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defending against Charlotte Flair and Asuka in a triple threat tables, ladders, and chairs match
  • Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey defending against Nia Jax
  • If Braun Strowman is able to wrestle at TLC after undergoing elbow surgery this week: Strowman vs. Baron Corbin in a tables, ladders, and chairs match (Strowman will challenge for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble if he defeats Corbin. If Corbin wins, he’ll become the permanent general manager of Raw. Corbin will lose all of his GM power if Strowman wins)
  • Finn Balor vs. Drew McIntyre
  • Elias vs. Bobby Lashley
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus defending against The Usos and The New Day in a triple threat match
  • The finals of Mixed Match Challenge season two

Jeff Hardy segment, The Bar vs. The Usos added to WWE SmackDown

In addition to Becky Lynch and AJ Styles returning to SmackDown, a segment with Jeff Hardy and a tag team match between The Bar and The Usos have been added to tonight’s episode.

WWE is advertising that Hardy will celebrate his 20th anniversary with the company on tonight’s SmackDown: “Tonight on SmackDown LIVE, The Charismatic Enigma celebrates two decades of awe-inspiring moments, championship victories and countless ups and downs with the WWE Universe. What does the former WWE Champion have planned for this special occasion? Find out tonight at 8/7 C on USA Network!”

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus) vs. The Usos in a non-title match has also been made official for tonight’s show.

Lynch, the SmackDown Women’s Champion, will return to WWE television tonight for the first time since the Tuesday before Survivor Series, where it was confirmed that she wouldn’t be able to wrestle Ronda Rousey at the pay-per-view due to injury.

Styles will respond to Daniel Bryan after last week’s promo where Bryan spoke in the third person and called himself “the new Daniel Bryan.” Bryan turned heel on the final SmackDown before Survivor Series and won the WWE Championship from Styles. Styles will get his rematch for the title at WWE TLC on December 16.

WWE SmackDown notes: Six-man tag match, Zelina Vega, more

The Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri is hosting SmackDown’s go-home show for Survivor Series tonight.

A six-man tag match has been announced for the episode. Cesaro, Sheamus & Big Show will face The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods). At Survivor Series, Cesaro & Sheamus will wrestle AOP in a champion vs. champion match and New Day will be part of SmackDown’s tag team division team.

Dave Meltzer reports that Zelina Vega has been cleared to return after being evaluated today. Vega missed WWE’s European tour due to taking a bad bump to the outside when she was eliminated from the battle royal at Evolution.

With Becky Lynch off the Survivor Series card due to injury, Meltzer notes that Ronda Rousey’s situation for the pay-per-view will be revealed on tonight’s SmackDown. She had been scheduled to face Lynch in a champion vs. champion match at the PPV.

WWE is also teasing the storyline of whether or not Charlotte Flair will become the captain of SmackDown’s Survivor Series women’s division team, along with whether or not the men’s team will be able to get on the same page.

Two more Raw vs. SD matches official for WWE Survivor Series

Two more Raw vs. SmackDown matches have been officially confirmed for Survivor Series.

With WWE resolving the Raw Tag Team title situation last night, AOP will face SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus in a non-title champion vs. champion match at Survivor Series. AOP won the Raw Tag Team titles from Seth Rollins last night, with Rollins wrestling on his own due to the storyline where Dean Ambrose turned against him.

Brock Lesnar vs. AJ Styles, Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch, and Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura will be the other champion vs. champion matches at Survivor Series.

WWE has also added another traditional Survivor Series elimination match to the card for the pay-per-view. Five tag teams from Raw will face five tag teams from SmackDown. The Usos defeated The New Day to become the captains of the team. The Usos cut a promo after the match offering New Day a spot on their team, which New Day accepted.

Survivor Series is taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on November 18.

Two matches, Styles-Bryan segment set for WWE SmackDown

Two matches have been announced for this week’s episode of SmackDown.

On the night before Halloween, one member of The Bar (Big Show is also included on the graphic for the match with Cesaro & Sheamus) will face one member of The New Day in a Trick or Street Fight. The match comes in advance of New Day getting their rematch for Cesaro & Sheamus’ SmackDown Tag Team titles at Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this Friday.

Paige also announced via Twitter that Shinsuke Nakamura will defend the United States Championship against Tye Dillinger on this Tuesday’s SmackDown. Nakamura vs. Dillinger stems from a title match they had last month ending without a finish due to an angle where Randy Orton attacked Dillinger.

A confrontation between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan is set for SmackDown, with WWE still currently advertising that Styles will defend his title against Bryan at Crown Jewel. SmackDown will also feature the final build to Friday’s World Cup tournament, where Orton vs. Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy vs. The Miz will be SmackDown’s first round matches.

Lorcan & Burch won this quickly.

The match was announced as ordered by William Regal after Cole had declined the challenge earlier in the night. They had a great match that got plenty of time.

The lights went out and the sirens of Cesaro’s music blared as the crowd went nuts. Cesaro and Ohno cleared the ring and celebrated.

Cesaro said he would keep it short and sweet, saying that “Chris is awesome.” Ohno thanked everyone for being there tonight and every night on the Florida NXT “coconut loop.” He spoke about how he can’t say wrestling is the best it’s ever been since he’s only been wrestling for 20 years — but it’s the best he’s seen it.

Two more matches added to WWE Super Show-Down card

Two more matches have been added to the card for WWE Super Show-Down.

WWE has announced Asuka & Naomi vs. Peyton Royce & Billie Kay for Super Show-Down, along with The New Day defending their Tag Team titles against Cesaro & Sheamus. The event is taking place in Melbourne, Australia on October 6 and will air live on the WWE Network.

Asuka made the save for Naomi in an angle on this week’s SmackDown, helping her even the odds against Royce & Kay. Naomi had defeated Royce before being attacked by them.

Super Show-Down will be a homecoming for Royce & Kay as they wrestle in their home country. Buddy Murphy will also be challenging for the Cruiserweight Championship in his hometown of Melbourne.

New Day vs. Cesaro & Sheamus could also be the SmackDown Tag Team Championship match at Hell in a Cell on September 16, with Cesaro & Sheamus facing Rusev & Aiden English in a number one contender’s match next Tuesday.

Tag team tournament finals set for WWE SmackDown next week

It will be Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Rusev & Aiden English in the finals of SmackDown’s tag team tournament next week.

Rusev & English won tonight’s triple threat tournament match, defeating SAnitY (Eric Young & Killian Dain) and The Usos. For the finish, Rusev hit the Machka Kick on Young after English broke up a pin where Young rolled up Rusev and had his feet on the ropes. The ending furthered the story of Rusev Day being back on the same page after the dissension that had been building between Rusev, English, and Lana.

Cesaro & Sheamus defeated Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and The Colons in the first tournament match last Tuesday. The team that wins Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Rusev & English will challenge for The New Day’s Tag Team titles at Hell in a Cell on September 16.

The Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana is hosting next week’s SmackDown. The episode is the go-home show for Hell in a Cell.

The Bar advance in SmackDown tag tournament, next triple threat set

The Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus) will face either Rusev & Aiden English, The Usos, or SAnitY to decide The New Day’s SmackDown Tag Team title challengers for Hell in a Cell.

The first of two triple threat matches in SmackDown’s tag team tournament took place tonight, with Cesaro & Sheamus defeating Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and The Colons to advance. Cesaro tagged in and stole the pin from The Colons, then he and Sheamus confronted The New Day (who were on commentary for the match).

A backstage segment aired where Paige told Rusev & English they’d be in the tournament, with the story being that English had approached her to state their case. She announced that they’d be facing The Usos and SAnitY in a triple threat match next Tuesday. The winning team will advance to a number one contender’s match that’s being held on SmackDown’s Hell in a Cell go-home show to determine who will challenge New Day at the pay-per-view.

Hell in a Cell is taking place at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas on September 16.

WWE announces matches to decide New Day’s next challengers

WWE has announced a mini-tournament to determine The New Day’s SmackDown Tag Team title challengers for next month’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

In a video that was posted by Paige today, it was revealed that two tag team triple threat matches will take place to decide which teams will advance to a number one contender’s match. Whoever wins that match will challenge for New Day’s SmackDown Tag Team titles at Hell in a Cell in San Antonio, Texas on September 16.

The first triple threat will be held on Tuesday’s SmackDown. It will be Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Cesaro & Sheamus vs. The Colons (Epico & Primo). The participants for the other triple threat match haven’t been announced, though The Usos and SAnitY would figure to be two of the teams in it.

This will be Epico’s return after undergoing shoulder surgery in January.

Gallows & Anderson vs. Cesaro & Sheamus had originally been announced for Tuesday’s SmackDown. Charlotte Flair defending her Women’s Championship against Carmella is also set for the episode.

After Erick Rowan suffered a torn right biceps at SummerSlam, New Day won the SmackDown Tag Team titles in a no disqualification match against The Bludgeon Brothers last Tuesday.

WWE SmackDown video highlights: Tag tournament finals

The Bludgeon Brothers’ challengers for SummerSlam were decided on this week’s episode of SmackDown.

The New Day defeated Cesaro & Sheamus in a 20-plus minute main event on SmackDown last night to become Harper & Rowan’s next challengers. Harper & Rowan were also in action on the show, defeating an enhacement team in what was their first match on television since retaining against Daniel Bryan & Kane at Extreme Rules.

The build to SummerSlam continued elsewhere on the show, with AJ Styles responding to Samoa Joe insulting him and saying last week that Styles puts being WWE Champion ahead of his family. Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch teamed up against Peyton Royce & Billie Kay, and Daniel Bryan tried to attack The Miz but was hit with a vase.
