Bron Breakker vs. Carmelo Hayes official for WWE NXT Stand & Deliver

After several weeks of teasing, the NXT Championship match for Stand & Deliver has been set.

Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes made it official on Tuesday’s NXT, confirming the main event for NXT’s WrestleMania weekend show. Breakker came out and said he was going to get this time for this next week, but decided to call out Carmelo Hayes now. Hayes came out and after some back and forth, the two made it official for April 1.

After Breakker had defended the title against Grayson Waller at NXT Vengeance Day, Hayes came out as the two had a staredown to close out the show. Later, when Breakker successfully defended the title against Jinder Mahal on NXT, Hayes again confronted Breakker via the perch in the arena.

On Tuesday’s NXT, Breakker teamed with The Creed Brothers to defeat Indus Sher and Mahal. Hayes was on commentary during the match.

Here is the updated lineup for NXT Stand and Deliver:

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes
  • Johnny Gargano vs. Grayson Waller

WWE NXT live results: Carmelo Hayes vs. Tyler Bate

Two of NXT’s brightest stars will face off in a singles match for the first time ever tonight.

With both wanting to be the next challenger for Bron Breakker’s NXT Championship, Carmelo Hayes vs. Tyler Bate is set to take place on NXT. Last week’s episode saw Hayes stare down Breakker after Breakker retained the NXT title against Jinder Mahal.

Gigi Dolin returned to NXT last week for the first time since the implosion of Toxic Attraction. She immediately went after her former tag team partner Jacy Jayne, attacking Jayne during a match against Indi Hartwell. Dolin will address Jayne on tonight’s show.

Wes Lee issues another challenge for his NXT North American Championship tonight. He retained against Von Wagner in an open challenge two weeks ago.

Meiko Satomura, who is facing Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship at Roadblock next Tuesday, will be in action against Zoey Stark. Sol Ruca vs. Elektra Lopez and Briggs & Jensen vs. Indus Sher have also been confirmed for tonight.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opens with bedlam backstage. Wrestlers were trying to brawl their way to the ring, looking to answer the open challenge thrown down by NXT North American Wes Lee.

A swarm of bodies continue to fight. Malik Blade and Edris Enofe make it on the stage. As they try to decide which one will answer the open challenge, Dabba-Kato comes through like a freight train. He blasts through Blade and Enofe, plowing his way down the aisle. Dabba-Kato pauses at the end of the entrance ramp, very sure of himself.

Out of nowhere, Apollo Crews comes flying in to ambush Dabba-Kato. Crews peppers Dabba-Kato, but Crews is caught by an Undertaker goozle from Kato. Suddenly, a returning Nathan Frazier comes running down the ramp. Frazier leaps over Crews and Dabba-Kato, and Frazier jumps into the ring to answer the open challenege.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee defeated Nathan Frazier to retain his title

Lee pinned the returning Frazier, and normally I would be against someone losing upon making a big return. However, they had a banger, and Frazier still got over in losing. Great opener.

The live studio audience is hot from the start, chanting “welcome back” for Frazier. This is supposedly his first match on NXT since last October. Frazier returns with a bang, and he is back with a banger of a match in his return.

They wrestle through a commercial break. When the show returns from the break, Frazier attempts a Phoenix Splash, but Lee is able to avoid it. Frazier rolls through and hits the ropes. He and Lee collide when both go for a crossbody. Double down.

Frazier gets a close near fall after a quebrada into a Dragon sleeper. Suplex slop drop, but Lee gets a shoulder up. Another great near fall follows. The first tease a superplex before executing it. Frazier hangs on suplerplex, rolls through, and Lee delivers a twisting neckbreaker. Yet Lee kicks out. The champ is not out.

Lee fights back, and he runs corner to corner doing a flip dive over the ropes to the floor. Back in the ring, Lee delivers his Cardiac Kick finisher. Lee then covers Frazier for a pinfall, and the champ retains his North American title.

Lee and Frazier shake hands and hug after the match. They should be proud, as they had an outstanding match.

Brooks Jensen is feeling blue, and Josh Briggs tries to cheer him up in a locker room skit. Jensen is down about his relationship with Kiana James. They are still together, but he senses something isn’t right since Valentine’s Day. Briggs tries to cheer up Jensen, and Briggs tries to shift his focus to their match tonight.

Tyler Bate is the focus of a video package, hyping his match later tonight against Carmelo Hayes.

Hank Walker is being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell when Axiom comes in angry about the brawl earlier tonight. Axiom and Walker exchange words, and Walker is thrown into a rage like Bruce Banner. This would seem to set up a math between the two.

Indus Sher (Veer & Sanga with Jinder Mahal) defeated Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen

Veer pinned Jensen to win the match, after Jensen’s blues bleed over into his match. He costs his team the match.

Indus Sher works over the down-in-the-dumps Jensen. Briggs is growing frustrated, but he able to get the hot tag. Briggs is cleaning house when a groggy Jensen makes a blind tag. Jensen is slow to join in on tandem offense, and Briggs’ frustration boils over.

Briggs yells at Jensen, and Jensen is apologetic. Jensen rolls back into the ring, where he is caught in the clutches of Indus Sher. Sanga chokeslams Jensen, and Sanga whips Jensen towards Veer so that Veer can clobber him. Veer covers Jensen for a pinfall while Sanga blocks Briggs from making the save.

Mahal cuts a promo after the match, challenging The Creeds to find a third partner for a six-man tag match at NXT Roadblock.

Wendy Choo is attacked by an unknown assailant in the parking lot.

Gigi Dolan heads to the ring for a monologue. She enters to Toxic Attraction music. She cuts the music like Rick Rude, and Dolan says this is the last time she comes out to that theme music. She cuts a promo on her way into the ring. Holding a black rose, Dolan waxes on Jacy Jayne turning on her.

Things get very heavy, as Dolan brings up escaping an abusing relationship with her mother. Dolan likens it to the betrayal of Jayne. She goes on to cut a go-home promo, vowing to put a final nail in the coffin of Toxic Attraction.

A pre-taped skit with Chase U leads to The Schism hacking into the classroom for a threatening promo. Before Schism interrupts the Chase U class, Duke Hudson apologizes to Thea Hail for his behavior last week. However, Hudson notes he meant what he said about Chase U. That is when Schism hacks into the monitor, and the class turns into a horror flick. Normally I like the Chase U skits, but this was too silly for me.

In another pre-tape, Dijak threatens to lock up Tony D’Angelo in their jailhouse match next week at Roadblock. Rules of the gimmick match are no disqualification and no countout. First one to “incapacitate their opponent and “lock them inside jail cell” wins the match.

Meiko Satomura defeated Zoey Stark

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is ringside at the announce desk for guest commentary. Perez defends her title against Satomura at Roadblock next Tuesday.

Stark and Satomura wrestle through a commercial break, and their heated bout continues after the show returns. Satomura is great as usual, and Stark more than held her own. Really good stuff here.

Gettiing to look strong despite losing, Stark gets several close near falls. She goes for a 450, but Satomura moves. Stark rolls through, but Satomura cuts her off to deliver a Death Valley Driver. Scorpio Rises finisher by Satomura, and she pins Starks for the win.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker volunteers to be the Creeds partner for a trios match at Roadblock. Before Breakker can volunteer, Julius Creed has to ask Damon Kemp to be their partner. He turns them down, and Julius is embarrassed about it. Breakker and Brutus Creed pick on Julius, and they make fun of him over his hurt pride.

Sol Ruca defeated Elektra Lopez

Ruca pins Lopez in a short match that gives Ruca a win, while also setting up a post-match angle with Lopez and Valentina Feroz.

Ruca is shining when Lopez shoves her off the top rope, and Ruca crashes outside the ring. Lopez works over Ruca when they are back in the ring. Comeback by Ruca, and she is cut off by Lopez.

Valentina Feroz is ringside, and the reason why is clear at the finish. Lopez goes to retrieve brass knux she had wanted stashed in a turnbuckle pad. Feroz had the knux instead. Lopez is distracted by the mishap, and Ruca catches Lopez with a springboard cutter. Ruca then scores a pinfall.

Lopez shoves Feroz in anger after the match, and Lopez piefaces her. Feroz then decks Lopez with the brass knux, and Lopez is knocked out.

Wofgang committs assault in a skit at a pup. Gallus is there playing pool, and Coffey gets Wolfgang fired up. So, Wolfgang beats up a guy that bumps into him.

Pretty Deadly in a backstage interview challenge Gallus to a match next week at Roadblock.

Tiffany Stratton defeated Katana Chance (with Kayden Carter)

This match was set up in a backstage skit earlier in the show.

Heat on Chance, leading to a rally by Chance and a comeback. Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre come down to ringside, which distracts Chance. Stratton capitalizes, and Stratton does a Christopher Daniels’ BME. Stratton then scores a pinfall.

Stratton in a post-match promo, vows to win the women’s title from whoever wins at Roadblock, be it Satomura or Perez.

Briggs & Jensen make up and mend fences … at least for now. Sadly, I fear this is leading to heartbreak for Jensen.

Axiom defeated Hank Walker

Axiom pinned Walker in a match set up earlier in the show.

Despite dropping the fall, the lose still provided some character development with Walker. This also provided Axiom with a good win over a larger opponent. Axiom won via pinfall after using his Golden Ratio finisher.

Shawn Michaels as the special guest on The Grayson Waller Effect is official for Roadblock next Tuesday.

Carmelo Hayes (with Trick Williams) defeated Tyler Bate

Hayes pinned Bate in a great match. Bangers bookend this episode of NXT, as the show opens with a banger of a match, and the episode closes with another banger.

Great sequences and reversals. Bell-to-bell, this was good as anything on the main roster. Just before the final commercial break on the show, Bate leaps over the ropes for a flip dive to the floor.

Hayes does a wicked-looking sprinboard suplex during a split-screen break. Trick Williams tries to interfere at one point, and Bate knocks him off the apron. Standing shooting star by Bate for a two count.

They would go on to trade near falls. Bate with an airplane spin, but Hayes kicks out. Then a slingshot lariat by Bate for two and half. Hayes with a double underhook into a falcon arrow, but Bate kicks out. Suplex into a cutter by Hayes, only for Bate to kick out yet again.

Bate with a super Northern Lights off the top rope, and Bate tries to follow up with his twisting swanton finisher. No water in the pool, thanks in part to more interference by Williams. Hayes then strikes with a codebreaker. Calling his shot, Breakker is “nothing but net” as he leapt high off the top rope to deliver a flying legdrop. Hayes then covers Bate for the deciding pinfall. Great match.

I question pinning Bate clean so soon after his return, but Hayes looks like a superstar. Hayes is clearly being positioned as the challenger for Breakker at Stand & Deliver over WrestleMania weekend. Hayes breaks the fourth wall as he looks into the camera to cut a promo on Breakker as the show goes off the air.

WWE considering main roster plans for NXT star Carmelo Hayes

WWE is considering plans to bring NXT star Carmelo Hayes to the main roster.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there has been talk of Hayes coming up to the WWE main roster. Meltzer wrote that there’s been an idea batted around of Hayes joining The Hurt Business, but that was a discussion and is not definite.

Meltzer added that a call-up probably wouldn’t happen until after April. Hayes is expected to challenge Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship at NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday, April 1.

Speaking of Hayes, it has been batted around the idea of Hayes in the Hurt Business with MVP, [Shelton] Benjamin, [Cedric] Alexander and [Bobby] Lashley. That was a discussion and not definite. But there has been talk of Hayes coming to the main roster. It probably wouldn’t happen until after April since Bron Breakker vs. Hayes looks to be the main event of the 4/1 NXT show in Los Angeles.

Hayes is a two-time NXT North American Champion.

At NXT Vengeance Day earlier this month, Hayes defeated Apollo Crews in a two-out-of-three falls match. Hayes won the match in two straight falls.

Hayes defeated JD McDonagh on NXT last week.

Apollo Crews vs. Carmelo Hayes set for next week’s WWE NXT

Apollo Crews will take on Carmelo Hayes next week on NXT.

Other matches announced for next Tuesday include Alba Fyre vs. Isla Dawn in an anything goes match, Trick Williams vs. Axiom, Hank Walker vs. Charlie Dempsey, and Grayson Waller will host the latest episode of The Waller Effect with Bron Breakker as a guest.

Apollo Crews returned on last week’s NXT after losing to Bron Breakker at Deadline earlier this month. Hayes interrupted his promo and the two exchanged words. Williams will face Axiom after Axiom laid out Williams following a loss to Hayes.

Fyre and Dawn have continued their feud following Deadline, where Dawn scored the win over Fyre. On last week’s show, Dawn attacked Fyre prior to a match against Sol Rouca, first attacking Fyre backstage then later attacking her hand as she made her way to the ring. Both exchanged words against one another on Tuesday’s show.

Dempsey interrupted a training session hosted by Drew Gulak during Tuesday’s show, looking for a match for next week. Walker, who joined Gulak for the training session, accepted the match saying it would be an exhibition bout.

Later in the show, Bron Breakker watched a video of Grayson Waller saying he wasn’t at NXT this week because he was back home in Australia. After the video was over, Breakker destroyed the TV set, still angry after being knocked out by a metal plate in Waller’s chest after going for a spear on last week’s NXT.

Here is the lineup for next week’s show:

  • Apollo Crews vs. Carmelo Hayes
  • Alba Fyre vs. Isla Dawn in an anything goes match
  • Trick Williams vs. Axiom
  • Charlie Dempsey vs. Hank Walker
  • The Grayson Waller Effect with guest Bron Breakker

WWE NXT live results: Wes Lee vs. Carmelo Hayes

Wes Lee will look to remain NXT North American Champion as he makes his first title defense tonight.

Lee goes one-on-one with Carmelo Hayes in the main event of tonight’s NXT. If Hayes wins, he’ll become a three-time North American Champion.

At Halloween Havoc last month, Lee and Hayes were both part of a five-way ladder match for the vacant North American title. Lee defeated Hayes, Oro Mensah, Von Wagner, and Nathan Frazer.

Mandy Rose still holds NXT Women’s Championship gold after defeating Alba Fyre in a Last Woman Standing match last Tuesday. Former NXT UK wrestler Isla Dawn made her surprise debut during that match, pushing Fyre off a ladder and sending her crashing through the announce table.

An appearance by Toxic Attraction (Rose, Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) is set to kick off tonight’s episode.

Plus, Wendy Choo vs. Cora Jade and Ivy Nile vs. Kiana James have been announced for tonight. WWE has also teased that tonight is where the mysterious Scrypts will be revealed.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Opening the show is Toxic Attraction with an in-ring promo. NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose is flanked by Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolan. Rose is celebrating her successful title defense last week.

Rose defeated Alba Fyre last Tuesday, thanks in large part to interference by Isla Dawn. Nevertheless, Rose claims she won “all by myself.” Rose then brings up the Iron Survivor Challenge, as that will determine her next challenger.

Jayne then chimes to say her and Dolan can now focus on regaining the tag team titles. They are all interrupted by the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Katana Chance and Kayden Carter.

They banter back and forth insulting each other, until Carter and Chance rush into the ring. A brawl erupts, but Chance and Carter are outnumbered. They are beat down and left laid out.

A skit from earlier today shows Tony D’Angelo bantering with NXT North American Champion Wes Lee.

Before heading to the ring, Cora Jade cuts a promo where she insults Wendy Choo and the audience.

Grayson Waller confronts Duke Hudson in the locker room. Waller says Hudson is not himself as part of Chase U. Hudson says he bleeds the school colors, and Waller laughs at that before leaving.

Cora Jade defeats Wendy Choo

Jade pins Choo after throwing a drink in her face.

Choo is a house of fire at the outset of the match, but Jade eventually cuts her off. The fights spills outside just before the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Comeback by Choo after the show returns from the break. They trade near falls. Jade takes a brainbuster, and she loses some of her hair extensions in the process.

Jade retrieves her kendo stick, but Choo takes it from her. While the referee convinces Choo to put down the stick, Jade grabs Choo’s drink she brought to the ring.

Jade throws the drink in Choo’s face, blinding her. Jade then delivers an evenflow DDT, and she scores a pinfall on Choo.

Apollo Crews goes to a diner, where he writes in his journal. Crews talks about challenging NXT Champion Bron Breakker at Deadline.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Kaina James, and James cuts a promo on Ivy Nile and Fallon Henley. When James leaves, Javiar Bernal comes in with a list of names on dot matrix paper. I had no idea dot matrix paper still existed, but I guess it does. The joke is the list of names is ridiculous opponents, like Elon Musk or Drake.

NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly get into a backstage brawl with Duke Hudson. They are pulled-apart.

Ivy Nile (with Tatum Paxley) defeats Kiana James

Nile wins via submission after a distraction by Fallon Henley.

They grapple at the start, until James gains an advantage after delivering a Argentine backbreaker. James goes on to work over Nile.

Nile comes back with a submission hold, and Nile starts to run wild. Fallon Henley suddenly appears at ringside, where she argues with James. The distraction allows Nile to apply a modified Dragon Sleeper, and James taps out.

Henley and James brawl afterwards, and they fight their way away from ringside.

Diamond Mine comes into the ring after the match for a post-match promo. Julius and Brutus Creed cut a promo on Indus Sher.

Isla Dawn in a vignette talks about her attacking Alba Fyre last week.

Scrypts defeats Guru Raaj

Scrypts pins Raaj after a somersault senton off the top rope. This is a squash match designed to showcase Scrypts. He easily wins in his NXT in-ring debut.

Scrypts entered the ring after tightrope walking down the barricade, and then he leaps into the ring like Sin Cara. He also flies around.

After the match, Scrypts leaves a calling card on the chest of a fallen Raaj.

Thanksgiving message from The Schism

Members of The Schism are seated at a table in the ring. There is an empty in the middle between them.

After some mic work, Ava Raine picks someone out of the crowd to take the empty seat.

Gacy says tonight they are creating a new holiday, The Day of Schism Invictus. Personally, I thought this all is pretty lame.

Gacy ends the segment with a “sacrifice,” which is him giving the plant from the crowd a Rock Bottom through the table.

Trick Williams is doing a backstage interview when he is confronted by Wes Lee. Williams is wearing a cap the reads “Trick Willy,” which becomes ironic. Lee basically tricks Williams into barring himself from ringside for the title match later tonight.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker is the focus of a vignette where he goes fishing to decompress and reflect. Breakker goes fishing to escape the stress of being champion.

Zoey Stark defeats Sol Ruca

Stark pins Ruca to win the match. Stark brawls with Nikkita Lyons after the match.

Ruca got a lot of offense throughout the match. She has some flashy moves, but she is still very green.

Ruca goes for a flying dropkick off the top rope, but she misses. Stark then delivers a shotgun dropkick, and she pins Ruca for a three count.

Stark goes to attack Ruca after the match, which brings out Nikkia Lyons to make a save. Lyons and Stark briefly brawl, until Stark bails out.

Von Wagner insults and attacks Edris Enofe and Malik Blade in a parking lot brawl. Wagner rips the sweater vest off Enofe, which Enfoe wears as a tribute to his late father.

Charlie Dempsey is the focus of a vignette. He is basically a shooter.

NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) defeat Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson with Thea Hail) to retain their titles

Prince pins Chase after miscommunication by Hudson and Chase.

The match goes through a commercial break. The story early on is Hudson is being a team player.

Pretty Deadly work over Chase after the show returns from the break. Prince is thrown outside, where he shoulder blocks Thea Hail on his way to the floor.

Hot tag to Hudson, and he cleans house. Hudson tags Chase back into the match, but Chase is on rubber legs. Upon some miscommunication, Hudson boots Chase with a high kick.

Hudson is thrown into the ring steps, and Chase takes Pretty Deadly’s tandem finisher. Prince then covers Chase for a pinfall.

A TikTok video shows Roxanne Perez and Indi Hartwell arguing during a spot show.

Nikkia Lyons offers to be the third partner for Katana Chance and Kayden Carter for a six-woman tag match against Toxic Attraction.

Shawn Michaels next week will announce the participants in the Iron Survivor Challenge.

NXT North American Champions Wes Lee defeats Carmelo Hayes to retain his title

Lee pins Hayes to retain in a good match.

Lee has a new special entrance where he leaps out of a boulder.

They wrestle through a split-screen commercial break, and Hayes begins to work over Lee.

Comeback by Lee after a slugfest. Lee spikes Hayes with a Frankensteiner for a near fall. Hayes with a near fall of his own by using a small package.

Codebreaker by Hayes, and he climbs the turnbuckles. Roll through on a missed high spot. Lee with a meteora for a false finish near fall.

Trick Williams runs down to ringside, and Lee does a flip dive to the outside on Williams.

Lots of counters and reversals in the closing moments. Lee eventually executes a Michinoku Driver, and he covers Hayes for the deciding pinfall.

Dijak appears after the match to attack Lee, and he leaves Lee laying as the show goes off the air.

North American title match set for November 22 edition of WWE NXT

A North American Championship match is set for the November 22 edition of NXT.

Wes Lee will put the title on the line against former champion Carmelo Hayes. The match was made on Tuesday’s NXT.

Tuesday’s show had Hayes and Trick Williams hanging out in the barbershop. Hayes noted that he wanted his North American title back. On next week’s NXT, there will be a contract signing ahead of the match on November 22.

Hayes lost the title to Solo Sikoa on the September 13 edition of NXT. However, the win was invalidated by Shawn Michaels due to Sikoa not being the original opponent for Hayes. Instead, the title was put up in a ladder match on the October 22 Halloween Havoc event, with Lee emerging as the winner.

On last week’s show, Hayes interfered in the main event, tripping Lee, which cost him and Bron Breakker the NXT Tag Team titles in a match against champions Pretty Deadly.

NXT’s Carmelo Hayes, Von Wagner work WWE Main Event taping

Two NXT wrestlers were in action before Monday night’s episode of Raw in Brooklyn, New York went on the air.

Carmelo Hayes and Von Wagner both wrestled matches at Monday’s WWE Main Event tapings. Hayes defeated Cedric Alexander. Wagner lost to R-Truth by disqualification.

R-Truth got the win by DQ after faking that Wagner had hit him with a steel chair.

This is the second straight week that NXT wrestlers have appeared on Main Event. Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen defeated R-Truth & Shelton Benjamin on the show last week, while Fallon Henley lost a match to Dana Brooke.

Hayes is a two-time NXT North American Champion. At NXT Halloween Havoc later this month, Hayes and Wagner will both compete in a ladder match for the vacant North American title. Hayes, Wagner, Oro Mensah, Wes Lee, and either Nathan Frazer or Axiom will be the five wrestlers in the ladder match.

WWE Main Event premieres on Hulu each Thursday. The episodes are uploaded to Peacock on a two-week delay.

Solo Sikoa wins North American title on WWE NXT

A surprise match led Solo Sikoa to his first NXT North American Championship.

Sikoa defeated Hayes in an impromptu match in the main event of Tuesday’s NXT, pinning Hayes after a splash off the top rope. This ends Hayes’ second run with the North American Championship after 102 days.

The main event of Tuesday’s NXT was originally set to have Wes Lee, voted on by fans, taking on Carmelo Hayes. However, Hayes and Trick Williams jumped Lee backstage, ramming his head into a locker door repeatedly. Later in the ring, Hayes said everyone from all brands was coming for him. That was when Sikoa appeared, taking out both Hayes and Williams. Sikoa said that he had next, eventually leading to the match.

Sikoa recently made his main roster debut at WWE Clash at the Castle, helping cousin Roman Reigns defeat Drew McIntyre to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. He made his in-ring debut on the following SmackDown facing McIntyre, where it ended in a no contest.

WWE NXT live results: One-year anniversary show

WWE celebrates the one-year anniversary of NXT 2.0 tonight, and in a way the fans get to help book the card.

Fan voting helps to decide the implications for two titles matches on tonight’s card. In the night’s opening match, Pretty Deadly will defend their NXT Tag Team titles against The Creed Brothers inside of a steel cage. Fans voted for the steel cage steel cage stipulation over a tornado tag match or no DQ match.

Fans get to pick the challenger for the other title match on the card. Carmelo Hayes is defending his NXT North American Championship against a mystery opponent tonight. A fan vote will determine whether that opponent is Von Wagner, Wes Lee, or Joe Gacy.

Four other matches have also been announced for the episode. Nikkita Lyons & Zoey Stark will take on Kiana James & Arianna Grace, Hank Walkers faces Javier Bernal, Fallon Henley faces Lash Legend, and Tony D’Angelo & Stacks will team up against Cameron Grimes and a partner who has yet to be revealed.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

No video package intros aside from the “Together” montage. Don’t worry though, there will be plenty of video packages throughout the night.

The show opens with a wide live shot of the soundstage in Orlando. A cage match for the men’s tag titles is kicking off the show.

NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson)  defeat The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) in a cage match to retain their titles

Pretty Deadly retains after interference by Damon Kemp. He runs in and handcuffs Julius to the cage, allowing Pretty Deadly to double team Brutus.

The rules of the match stipulate a win via pinfall, submission or escaping the cage.

The Creeds started off strong, and they went for a stereo catapults. Pretty Deadly is catapulted into the cage, but they hang on like Spider-Man, and they try to climb out. The Creeds thwart their exit.

Aside from the cage, it is also tornado rules. Lots of tandem moves, including Pretty Deadly with a Dry Martini. Creeds fight back with power moves like a powerbomb into the cage. Julius Creed springboards into a modified Spanish Fly where he lands on his feet.

The melee in the cage continues through a commercial break. After the break, Pretty Deadly give Julius a superduper superplex off the top of the cage.

Brutus fires up with a fury, but Pretty Deadly tries to execute another superplex on Brutus. Julius helps to save Brutus, and the Creeds set up a Doomsday Device of their own. Brutus leaps off the top rope with a cannonball as Julius has both members of Pretty Deadly on his shoulders. On commentary it is called the “Butterball.”

Damon Kemp, who turned on the Creeds at Worlds Collide, runs down. Kemp climbs the cage. Julius stops Kemp, but it was a trap. Kemp slaps handcuffs on Julius, and he cuffs him to the cage, with Julius standing perched on the ropes.

Brutus tries to help free his brother to no avail. Brutus must fight on seemingly alone against Pretty Deadly. Julius for a moment nabs Wilson, but he escapes Julius’ grasp.

Pretty Deadly gives Brutus their Spilt Milk finisher, but Brutus is able to kick out. However, the numbers game is too much for even Brutus. Another delivery of Spilt Milk, and Brutus takes a pinfall. The champions retain, thanks in large part to Damon Kemp.

Wes Lee challenges for a title tonight after winning a fan vote. Lee is now set to challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT North American Championship.

Lee is excited for the opportunity, but he understands it is a big responsibility since the fans chose him. Joe Gacy, who lost the fan vote, is there with Lee. Gacy acts weird as usual, but says he accepts the fan vote. He also says he has other things to do.

A video package highlights the NXT roster. It is like a trailer for NXT 2.0 in the middle of the show.

The next match has a special guest at ringside in the babyface corner. In association with Connor’s Cure, a child gets to live a dream as a superstar. He accompanies Fallon Henley to the ring alongside Briggs & Jensen.

Fallon Henley (with Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen & Mason “The Night Howler” Ramirez) defeats Lash Legend

Henley pins Legend in a very short match.

Henley shines at the outset, but she is soon cut off by Legend. Henley is worked over, and Legend applies a Jesse Ventura Body Vice.

Henley makes a comeback, and she springboards off the ropes and lands a bulldog. Henley then lands a shining wizard, and she scores a pinfall on Legend.

Henley is joined by Briggs & Jensen in celebrating after the match with The Night Howler.

Yulisa Leon exits a trainer’s room with a large brace on her right leg. “It’s torn,” she says to her tag team partner, Valentina Feroz. She goes to say she will be out of action for nine months.

Sanga is also there, and he says to turn a negative into a positive. He tells Feroz this is her time, but they are interrupted by Mr. Stone and Von Wagner. Wagner and Sanga go face-to-face, but Wagner eventually backs down.

Briggs & Jensen is walking backstage with Fallon Henley after her win. They run into Toxic Attraction. Henley has words with NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose. This seems to set up a potential match between the two.

Alba Fyre challenges the Women’s Champion

The Toxic Attraction trio head out for an in-ring promo. They brag on themselves. They are interrupted by Alba Fyre. She strolls out with her baseball bat over her shoulder.

Fyre gets in the ring to confront and challenge Rose. Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolan try to jump Fyre, but she swings her bat and nails them like Sting to the NWO in ’97. Fyre then gives Rose a Gory Bomb, and Fyre then climbs the turnbuckles. Jayne and Dolan pull Rose out of the ring before Fyre can jump off the ropes, and the heel trio flees.

Some character development with a video package that features Cora Jade. This works well in portraying Jade as a heel. At the end, she vows to be “the number one woman in the entire industry” in a year.

Wendy Choo is being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell when they are interrupted by Lash Legend. She was mad about losing her match, but Choo does not want to hear any of it. This would seem to set up a match at some point.

Next on the show is an in-ring debut on NXT 2.0.

Quincy Elliott defeats Sean Gallagher

“The Super Diva” wins a squash match in his 2.0 debut. Gallagher is no match for Elliott, and Elliot easily wins after a Bonsai Drop. This is like a squash on a old episode of Superstars, except with a modern character.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Cameron Grimes, and she asks who his tag team partner is for tonight. Grimes says the only person he can trust is himself. Apparently, Grimes has no partner. That basically turns the match into a handicap match.

Wes Lee is warming up in a locker room when he is attacked by Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. Hayes slams a locker door into Lee’s head. Security pours in to end the sneak attack.

Cameron Grimes & Joe Gacy defeats Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo

Gacy pins Stacks to win the match. Gacy came out mid-way through the match to be Grimes’ partner, despite Grimes objections. The Schism then jump Grimes after the match.

Grimes does well at times on his own in the first half of the match, but the numbers game is too much for him. D’Angelo & Stacks work him over.

Joe Gacy comes to the ring during the match, and he gets in Grimes’ corner. Gacy is apparently going to be an impromptu tag partner for Grimes, yet Grimes won’t tag out.

Grimes makes his own comeback, but a counter sends him falling backwards into his corner. Gacy makes a bling tag, and he runs wild.

Grimes recovers, and he yells at Gacy. Grimes clearly does want Gacy as his partner. Grimes is yelling at Gacy that he does not need his help.

A parade of moves at the finish. Grimes does a running Spanish Fly on Stacks, and then Grimes hits D’Angelo with a Cave In. Gacy delivers the Upside Down World to Stacks, and Gacy covers Stacks for a pinfall.

Grimes again screams at Gacy that he does not need him. The Dyad appear, and they attack Grimes. The Schism trio beat down Grimes.

JD McDonagh is getting a shave in a barber chair. He uses that it in an analogy for a promo on NXT Champion Bron Breakker.

Breakker is then seen in pre-taped sit-down interview with Vic Joseph. Breakker reflects on the past year, which leads up to his championship run. This is good character development, as it helps get Breakker over as the top singles champion on the brand.

Tyler Bate in a backstage interview talks about JD McDonagh. Bate says if McDonagh wants a title match, he should go through Bate first. This seems to set up a number one contender’s match.

Zoey Stark & Nikkita Lyons defeat Kiania James & Arianna Grace

Lyons pins Grace to win the match.

Stark looks most impressive overall among the others in the match, as Stark seems ready for the main roster from an outsider perspective. For now, the team with Lyons seems like a regular thing going forward.

The match goes through a commercial break, even though they didn’t really have to do so. Yet, they did.

Lyon is knocked off the apron, and she isn’t in her corner when Stark needs to tag out. Nevertheless, Stark makes her own comeback. That might have gotten over better if he hadn’t already seen Grimes make his own comeback earlier.

Stark deliver her modified GTS finisher, and she tags out. Lyons hits Grace with a roundhouse kick, and Lyons follows with by doing the splits into a legdrop. Lyons then covers Grace for a pinfall.

Malik Blade & Edris Enofe were outside the building talking to an unknown subject in a hood. That person was trying to get Blade & Enofe to vote for Gacy as the biggest star. When they declined, they are met by The Dyad. A brawl erupts, and security separates them. Hank Walker is there with the security team, but another member tells Walker they can handle the melee, as Walker has a match up next.

Wes Lee is seen in the trainer’s room being attended to, and him being cleared to wrestle later in remains in question.

A vignette hypes the Oro Mensah, who debuts next week.

Grayson Waller is interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. She announces the final four in the fan vote for the biggest NXT star. Mitchell announces Toxic Attraction (who are counted as one I guess), Carmelo Hayes and Nikkita Lyons. Waller interjects to claim he is the fourth pick. Mitchell then says the fourth pick is Bron Breakker. An angry Waller then cuts a promo on the fans and Breakker.

Hank Walker defeats Javier Bernal

Walker wins decisively via pinfall.

Walker saunters out for his entrance dressed in street clothes. Besides no gear, he had no music. The live studio audience cheer him nonetheless.

Walker is like a character from Bill Watts’ Mid-South. Walker fires up on Bernal, take his shirt off, and then mauls Bernal. Walker then pins him.

Although he has no entrance music, Wale’s NXT theme song plays for Walker after the win.

Another video package highlights the past year in NXT.

Sol Ruca is the focus of another vignette set on the beach.

Announced for next Tuesday on NXT:

  • Number one contender’s match: Tyler Bate vs. JD McDonagh
  • Best-of-three series: Axiom vs. Nathan Frazier (Axiom leads 1-0)
  • Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) vs. Diamond Mine (Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley)
  • Cora Jade vs. Wendy Choo
  • Von Wagner vs. Sanga
  • Oro Mensah debuts

Bron Breakker is voted Biggest Superstar of NXT 2.0.

NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes and Wes Lee head to the ring. They cut promos, as it appears Lee cannot compete tonight.

Interrupting their promo is the entrance of Solo Sikoa. He will replace Lee tonight in the title match, much to the chagrin of Hayes and Williams. Sikoa was recently called up the main roster, as part of the the Bloodline storyline on Smackdown.

Solo Sikoa (subbing for Wes Lee) defeats NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes to win the title

Sikoa pins Hayes to capture the North American title. This is quite a surprise ending, especially with Sikoa on Smackdown. Do Hayes and Williams follow Sikoa to Smackdown looking for revenge?

Sikoa is on fire at the outset, as Hayes bumps and feeds for him. Sikoa gets most of the offense in the match, as he looks dominate.

Sikoa is cut off when Williams interferes, when Williams targets Sikoa’s knee brace. Hayes goes on to work the leg.

Comeback by Sikoa, and he delivers a Samoan Drop and an Umaga splash. Williams interferes again, allowing Hayes to briefly cut off Sikoa. Not for long, as Sikoa fights back with a pop-up Samoan Drop for a near fall.

Williams tries to interfere a third time, but he instead eats a kick from Sikoa. Rock Bottom by Sikoa, and he climbs the turnbuckles. Sikoa leaps off the top rope with a Superfly splash, and Sikoa covers Hayes for a three count.

The announces wonder out loud if the North American title is going to Smackdown. The answers seems to be yes. Maybe Hayes will follow Sikoa to Smackdown looking to regain the title.

Sikoa celebrates by posing with the title belt.

The show itself closes with one final video package highlighting the NXT roster, and possibly signaling the end of the “2.0” branding. The NXT logo (sans 2.0) flashes across the screen with a black and gold color pattern. It ends with a Triple H voiceover where he brings back the catchphrase, “We are NXT.”

Three title matches added to NXT Great American Bash

Three title matches have been added to next week’s Great American Bash edition of NXT.

Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez will challenge Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacey Jayne) for the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles, while Carmelo Hayes will defend the North American title against Grayson Waller. Meanwhile, The Creed Brothers will defend the NXT Tag Team titles against fellow Diamond Mine members Roderick Strong and Damon Kemp.

Additionally, Wendy Choo will take on Tiffany Stratton, while Trick Williams will face Wes Lee.

Jade and Perez won tonight’s number one contendership match, defeating Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. The two teams confronted one another last week, leading to a brawl over who should face Toxic Attraction next.

On this week’s NXT, Grayson Waller asked Hayes if he could sign some memorabilia. Hayes agreed, but later found out that he had unwittingly signed a contract for a title defense.

Roderick Strong and The Creed Brothers confronted one another in a backstage segment on tonight’s show after dissension during a tag team match against The Dyad and Joe Gacy led to a defeat. Strong was upset and challenged The Creeds to a title match for next week.

Here is the lineup so far for next week’s Great American Bash:

WWE NXT Great American Bash, Tuesday, July 5, 8 p.m. Eastern time —

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Cameron Grimes
  • NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship: Toxic Attraction (c) vs. Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade

WWE NXT video highlights: North American title match

The new-look D’Angelo family imploded last night as Santos Escobar cost Tony D’Angelo a shot at winning the North American Championship.

D’Angelo challenged for Carmelo Hayes’ North American title in the main event of last night’s NXT. While the referee was distracted, D’Angelo wanted Escobar to pass him brass knuckles to use against Hayes. But Escobar instead slid the knuckles to Hayes, who knocked D’Angelo out with a punch and pinned him to retain the North American title.

The show ended with Legado del Fantasma staring down D’Angelo and his crew.

Earlier in the night, Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde lost to Roderick Strong & Damon Kemp due to a miscommunication with Stacks & Two Dimes.

Legado del Fantasma were forced to join the D’Angelo family after losing a six-man tag match at In Your House earlier this month. The D’Angelo family used brass knuckles to win that match.
