WWE Raw live results: Ronda Rousey vs. Alicia Fox

Date: August 6, 2018
Location: Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL

The Big Takeaway —

Ronda Rousey beat Alicia Fox in her Raw debut.

Show Recap —

After a long recap of last week, Kurt Angle and Baron Corbin came out to start the show. (The recap didn’t include any of the “we want Roman” chants from the end of the show.)

Angle said it would be a historic night because Ronda Rousey would make her Raw debut, which was cheered. Angle said Rousey had no problem competing tonight, unlike the other former UFC fighter. He criticized Brock Lesnar for what he did last week, and also confirmed that Paul Heyman was still employed. Corbin warned him about speaking of Lesnar.

Angle had more to say about Lesnar, but Roman Reigns interrupted. Reigns said Angle should’ve known better. “If you kick the big dog out, who’s going to protect the yard?” Reigns ran down Corbin for backing down last week. Angle confirmed Reigns would fight Lesnar at SummerSlam and hoped he would kick his ass.

Corbin told Angle he shouldn’t play favourites. Reigns called Corbin a coward. Corbin said he chose to be the bigger man and was also worn out from beating little Finn Balor. He mentioned that Balor actually won the Universal title, unlike Lesnar. Angle said Corbin could have acted like a man, so Corbin reminded him who this show really belonged to.

Angle put Corbin in a match with Reigns and people cheered. Corbin was pissed, then punched Reigns in the face right as the bell rang.

Roman Reigns defeated Baron Corbin (18:42)

Reigns hit a superman punch right away, but Corbin kicked out and they went to commercial. Of course, after the break, Corbin was in control. After a long rest hold, Reigns clotheslined Corbin out of the ring and followed with a drive-by. Corbin then rammed Reigns’ head into the ring post and they went to another break.

Back from break, Corbin has Reigns in a rest hold. Reigns came back with an elbow, clothesline, boot, and Samoan drop for two. Reigns followed with clotheslines in the corner and big boot. Corbin avoided a superman punch and hit Deep Six for two. Reigns followed later with a superman punch for a nearfall.

Reigns set up for a spear, so Corbin left the ring. Balor came out to his music to stop him from leaving. Reigns then gave him a superman punch and spear for the win. This was a dull match and the crowd seemed quieter than usual for a Reigns match.

Reigns gave Balor a fist bump as he left, then Balor hit the ring and gave Corbin a dropkick and Coup de Grace.

Rousey and Natalya were showing talking backstage, and Bobby Roode was shown checking himself out in a mirror.

Seth Rollins spoke with Angle about having to deal with both Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. Angle suggested he find a partner and they could have a tag match tonight. Rollins was happy with this.

Bobby Roode defeated Mojo Rawley (9:05)

They went to commercial a minute into the match. After the break, Rawley had Roode in a rest hold. They should just save us the trouble and have every match start with the babyface in a headlock.

Roode came back with a forearm, clotheslines, neckbreaker and blockbuster. Rawley caught Roode as he came off the middle rope, but Roode countered into a Glorious DDT for the win.

A stagehand tried to talk tonight’s performance with Elias, but he wasn’t worried about it and told the guy tonight would be perfect.

After a break, Elias was in the ring and performed on his guitar. He plugged his album and said he topped the charts despite it only having four songs. He seemed dissatisfied with the documentary they aired for him last week, so he had his own crew here to film him.

He gave the film crew direction and likened them to Bobby Lashley who couldn’t remember the lyrics to Rockin’ Robin. He also wanted them to CGI the crowd and remove their faces so he didn’t have to stare at people from Jacksonville. This got a lot of heat.

Lashley interrupted. He said Elias may not have liked the documentary, but he did. They spoke about it like anybody actually saw it. Elias said Lashley’s comeback has been a joke. Lashley said Elias’ boots, his scarf, his guitar, his album, his documentary and everything else about him was a joke. Lashley warned him not to speak of him again.

Elias had enough so he sent the film crew out of the ring, then gave Lashley a cheap shot. The attack didn’t last long as Lashley gave him a spinebuster. Lashley brought the crew back in the ring so they could film him doing a delayed vertical suplex. I thought last week’s segment was fun. This wasn’t.

Cole told us that Rollins’ partner tonight would not be Dean Ambrose because he is still out from tricep surgery.

Tyler Breeze approached Rollins and offered to be his partner. Breeze called himself gorgeous and said Rollins was passable, if you were into the whole CrossFit Jesus thing. Breeze suggested their team be called “CrossFit Breezus” and said Rollins should accept before he changed his mind. Reigns showed up and said he had Rollins’ back tonight and they left Breeze hanging.

Rezar (w/Akam) defeated Titus O’Neil (w/Apollo Crews & Dana Brooke) (3:02)

Rezar won with a spinebuster.

They confirmed Reigns would be Rollins’ partner tonight.

The Kevin Owens Show

Owens introduced his guest and personal guru Jinder Mahal (with Sunil Singh) who has been helping him with the stress of Braun Strowman. Owens said he’s never felt more relaxed thanks to Mahal. He thought he would live the rest of his life in pain thanks to Strowman, but now he can play with his kids pain-free.

He said everyone sees Strowman as a monster, but Owens beat him in a grueling cage match. He mentioned that Mahal also beat Strowman, though it was only by countout. Everytime Mahal tried to answer a question, Owens cut him off and answered for him. Owens said he would become KO in the Bank and regain the Universal title.

Owens suggested Mahal beat Strowman again tonight. Mahal didn’t like this idea. Owens called out Strowman but he didn’t show. Suddenly, the platform they were sitting on (set up beside the stage) began tipping over. The set toppled over and Strowman appeared from under it. He posed with the briefcase and marched to the ring.

They showed a bunch of replays and it looked sillier each time. The bump they took would be like falling off your bed.

Jinder Mahal (w/Kevin Owens & Sunil Singh) defeated Braun Strowman via DQ (1:47)

Owens tried to run off with the briefcase, so Strowman chased after him and knocked him down. Mahal went after him, so Strowman hit him with the briefcase which was a DQ. He was about to kill Mahal but Sunil saved him. Strowman decked Sunil and Mahal left through the crowd. This stuff isn’t helping anyone.

Corbin gave Angle a cell phone so Stephanie McMahon could tell him something. Does she not have his number?

WWE congratulated themselves on having 15 million Instagram followers.

They aired a video package for Lesnar vs. Reigns. It included clips of Reigns being interviewed by Corey Graves. Reigns said Lesnar never beat him in their first match, but admitted to getting beat at this year’s WrestleMania. Reigns said he beat Lesnar at the Greatest Royal Rumble and was the rightful champion. Reigns was sick of Lesnar disrespecting his family’s business and they showed headlines about Lesnar heading back to UFC. Reigns said he would beat Lesnar, “because I have to win.”

Backstage, Corbin and Angle approached Rollins and Reigns. Corbin said Stephanie didn’t want to jeopardize the SummerSlam main event and didn’t want Reigns competing again. Reigns didn’t care. Corbin said he’d be forfeiting his title match if he didn’t listen. Rollins told Reigns not to worry about it.

After Rollins left, Reigns re-entered the frame and asked Corbin if his ribs were feeling alright. Corbin didn’t understand, so Reigns punched him in the ribs, which was funny.

Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin was announced for SummerSlam.

2-on-1 handicap match: Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins (7:06)

Crowd chanted “we want Ambrose” as the match began. There was a botched spot early on where McIntyre was supposed to catch Rollins off the top but they just sorta fell over. After Rollins hit a suicide dive, Cole shouted, “can Seth Rollins pull this off!?” then said it again two seconds later.

The finish came out of nowhere. Rollins tried fighting off both guys but Ziggler caught him with a superkick and won. The crowd was silent. This was weak.

They aired a video package for Alicia Fox. Later, Rousey was shown warming up.

Non-title match: Tag Team Champions B-Team DDQ The Revival (3:09)

B-Team have wacky new entrance music designed to get people to chant along. A couple minutes into the match, the lights went out and Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt appeared on the apron. They laid out Scott Dawson and Bo Dallas in the ring for the double disqualification. Disqualifications are usually lame but this match was dying anyway.

Paul Heyman sit-down interview

Renee Young did a sit-down interview with a disheveled Paul Heyman. Heyman doesn’t know where he stands with Brock Lesnar, who has disconnected his phone. Heyman looked around and informed people in the room that all of this was just going to piss off Lesnar. Renee tried to continue and Heyman accused her of enjoying this.

She just wanted to get to the bottom of this and asked if he still considered Lesnar a friend. Heyman said yes, and his children were friends with Lesnar’s children. He didn’t see it ending like this. He wanted to see Lesnar holding the Universal title and UFC title on each shoulder. He became emotional and couldn’t finish his sentence.

Renee asked if Heyman had his eyes on any other talent, assuming his relationship with Lesnar was done. Heyman said that question would’ve been inconceivable a week ago. He said this whole situation was inconceivable and wondered how he could just go with someone else.

She asked who would win at SummerSlam. Heyman said he’s never seen Lesnar this violent and Reigns doesn’t stand a chance. He took a deep breath and the segment ended. Heyman was tremendous here.

Sarah Logan & Liv Morgan defeated Sasha Banks & Bayley (10:35)

Graves went on a weird rant about how Banks and Bayley enter separately, unlike Logan and Morgan. Of course, he said this as Banks and Bayley walked to the ring together. (Banks does come out a few seconds earlier than Bayley, but they still enter together.)

Near the end of the match, Bayley went after Morgan on the outside, but a hooded figure appeared to save Morgan, who then gave Bayley an enziguri. Banks was distracted, so Logan rolled her up for the win. It was Ruby Riott under the hood and she celebrated with her friends as Banks consoled Bayley.

I suppose you could say Bayley was hurt, but I’m not sure why the faces didn’t go after the heels for this. Instead, they just sulked on the floor.

They aired a video package for Rousey/Bliss.

There’s a Table For 3 tonight with Beth Phoenix, Nia Jax and Natalya. Next week on Raw, B-Team defends their tag titles in a triple threat against Hardy & Wyatt and The Revival.

Ronda Rousey (w/Natalya) defeated Alicia Fox (w/Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss) (3:44)

Before the match, Charly Caruso tried to ask Fox about Rousey. Bliss interrupted and didn’t appreciate her asking about Rousey. She put over Fox as a trailblazer in the division. Caruso asked Fox how she prepared for Rousey. Fox bragged about taking her out last week and showed a replay. Fox also bragged about being the captain of Team Raw as people booed.

Bliss kicked Caruso out of the ring and continued talking as the show passed the three-hour mark. Bliss thanked Fox for her contributions. She said Rousey didn’t deserve a title match. They kept going until Rousey’s music finally hit. They gave this match the big pre-match introductions like it was a title match.

Fox taunted Rousey then tried to punch her, but Rousey blocked it and shoved her down. After a series of distractions, Bliss tripped Rousey. Fox hammered away at Rousey in the corner, but Rousey came back with fists and three consecutive judo throws.

Bliss tried another distraction but Rousey caught Fox and hit a suplex. Rousey then stared down Bliss as she applied the armbar on Fox, who tapped immediately.

Natalya and Rousey hugged. Caruso congratulated Rousey when Bliss tried to attack from behind but Rousey fought her off. Rousey grabbed the mic and said it didn’t matter how tight Bliss held onto the belt, because it was hers at SummerSlam.

Final Thoughts —

This was a weak Raw show, even compared to recent standards. The main event was fine but it was probably overbooked. Rousey could’ve just beaten Fox in 30 seconds, then her and Natalya could’ve fended off the heels after.

– Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns defeated Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre

The heels had the advantage for most of the match and isolated Rollins. It was a fun main event that had some exciting spots. The finish was Reigns hitting McIntyre with a spear and Rollins then using the stomp and pinning Ziggler.

Overall, this event was what house shows are about, entertaining the fans and sending them home happy.

Rousey was in for less than a minute after being tagged in.

Roman Reigns had last night off but is booked on the rest of this weekend’s shows. McIntyre was ejected from ringside during the match.

Ronda Rousey to make WWE Raw in-ring debut next week

Ronda Rousey is set to have her first match on Raw next week.

Kurt Angle announced a match between Rousey and Alicia Fox for next week’s episode of Raw. It was set up when Alexa Bliss, who has now aligned herself with Fox, interfered in a match between Rousey’s training partner Natalya and Fox. Rousey went after Bliss following the match, caught her and put her in the armbar. Fox broke it up before anything could happen, but Rousey laid her out with a slam.

This would be Rousey’s first match on Raw. She’s wrestled twice on pay-per-view events, the first at WrestleMania where she and Kurt Angle defeated Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. She followed that with a match at Money in the Bank where she defeated Nia Jax by disqualification after Bliss got involved.

The next night on Raw, Rousey destroyed Bliss and powerbombed her through a table. In storyline, she was suspended for her actions. After serving an extra week for breaking the suspension, Rousey was officially cleared to return tonight on Raw.

Additionally, Bobby Roode and Mojo Rawley will face one another on Raw next week as well. The two have exchanged words on and off for the last several weeks.

Mandy Rose replacing Alicia Fox in WWE Mixed Match Challenge

After Alicia Fox was pulled from the tournament due to injury, Goldust will be teaming with Mandy Rose in Mixed Match Challenge.

That announcement was made towards the end of last night’s episode. Goldust & Rose will be taking on Jimmy Uso & Naomi next Tuesday, and the winning team will go on to face Braun Strowman & Alexa Bliss in week eight of the tournament.

Strowman & Bliss defeated Sami Zayn & Becky Lynch this week when Bliss jumped off Strowman’s shoulders and hit Twisted Bliss on Lynch.

WWE announced on Sunday night that Fox wouldn’t be competing in either the women’s Royal Rumble or Mixed Match Challenge because of an injury, which was revealed to be a broken tailbone.

Finn Balor & Sasha Banks, The Miz & Asuka, and Strowman & Bliss are the teams that have advanced in Mixed Match Challenge thus far. Goldust & Rose vs. Uso & Naomi, Elias & Bayley vs. Rusev & Lana, and Apollo Crews & Nia Jax vs. Bobby Roode & Charlotte Flair are the remaining first round matchups.

Alicia Fox out of WWE Royal Rumble, MMC due to injury

Alicia Fox won’t be appearing in tonight’s women’s Royal Rumble and has been pulled from the Mixed Match Challenge tournament due to injury.

Kurt Angle made the announcement on Twitter: “Due to injury, @AliciaFoxy will be unable to compete in tonight’s #RoyalRumble match. Moving forward, she will not compete in the #WWEMMC & @Goldust will select a new partner.”

WWE.com noted that the injury is a broken tailbone (also known as a coccygeal fracture).

Fox & Goldust were scheduled to face Naomi & Jimmy Uso on the fourth week of Mixed Match Challenge. Another member of the Raw women’s division should be replacing her on the episode, which will take place on February 6th.

Fox was one of the 18 entrants who had been announced in advance for the women’s Royal Rumble. That number represented everyone on the main roster who was currently active (aside from the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champions).

WWE Main Event results: The Zo Train loses again

The Big Takeaway: Alicia Fox defeated Dana Brooke only a week after Brooke’s win over Mickie James. Akira Tozawa & Mustafa Ali then beat Drew Gulak & Ariya Daivari in under four minutes to close out the show.

**********

Alicia Fox defeated Dana Brooke (w/ Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews) (5:39)

Only a week after defeating Mickie James, Dana Brooke lost on Main Event to Alicia Fox. Fox’s position is hardly high right now and the decision for Brooke to lose momentum after such a big win is puzzling to say the least.

The match was as you would expect, with Fox — by far the more experienced competitor — selling for Brooke. Brooke was playing a cocky heel throughout, taking the support of Apollo Crews and Titus O’Neil (who is now sporting a Chris Jericho-esque scarf to complement his suit). At one stage, Brooke no-sold a shoulder barge from Fox and dropped down to the mat to show off her one-handed push-ups.

Fox took much of the second half of the match before Brooke kicked out of a Northern Lights suplex. Brooke got the heat with clotheslines and running forearms, but Fox got the win when she blocked a charge and nailed Brooke with the Watch Yo Face in the middle of the ring.

Akira Tozawa & Mustafa Ali defeated Drew Gulak & Ariya Daivari (3:51)

Once again, the cruiserweights were given too little time to make much of an impression, but, that said, this was fun while it lasted. Gulak and Tozawa were the stars here, going back and forth and outdoing each other at every turn.

The Zo Train bullied their way into contention and built to a false finish when Daivari blind tagged himself in with Ali prone by the corner of the ring. Daivari hit the Persian Lion Splash, but Tozawa came in to make the save.

The last minute was really strong here: Tozawa did a suicide dive on Daivari outside while Gulak and Ali exchanged pin attempts in the ring. Ali came off the second rope to hit Gulak with a rolling DDT and left him position to hit his finisher. Ali then landed the 054, beautifully, for the win to leave The Zo Train winless in their last four outings.

Three more matches set for WWE TLC

WWE rounded out the card for TLC on tonight’s go-home edition of Raw.

As expected, Finn Balor will be facing Bray Wyatt at Sunday’s pay-per-view — or rather The Demon will be taking on Sister Abigail. Balor delivered one final message to Wyatt on Raw tonight, which ended with his face transforming into an orange version of his Demon persona.

The match will be the third time Balor vs. Wyatt has happened on PPV in recent months. While wearing his Demon paint, Balor defeated Wyatt at SummerSlam in August. Balor then got another win over Wyatt without the paint in a match that was billed as “man vs. man” at No Mercy last month.

With much of the Raw roster involved in the main event, there will be multiple matches in the women’s and cruiserweight divisions at TLC. Sasha Banks vs. Alicia Fox is set for the pre-show, and WWE lists that there will be a cruiserweight tag match with Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann teaming against Brian Kendrick & Jack Gallagher.

The Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota will host TLC on Sunday night. Here’s what the updated lineup for the show looks like:

  • The Shield (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins) vs. The Miz, Cesaro, Sheamus, Braun Strowman & Kane in a tables, ladders, and chairs match
  • Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defending against Mickie James
  • The Demon (Finn Balor) vs. Sister Abigail (Bray Wyatt)
  • Asuka vs. Emma
  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Kalisto defending against Enzo Amore
  • Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann vs. Brian Kendrick & Jack Gallagher
  • Sasha Banks vs. Alicia Fox (pre-show match)

WWE 205 Live results: The final build to Extreme Rules

The Big Takeaway —

Neville and Austin Aries had one final confrontation before Extreme Rules, with Neville getting the upper hand thanks to TJP. Drew Gulak once again scored a win over Mustafa Ali, continuing to prove that being on the ground works best.

Noam Dar and Alicia Fox gained momentum heading into their mixed tag match on Sunday, with Dar picking up a win over Rich Swann thanks to Fox’s help.

Show Recap —

Noam Dar and Alicia Fox came out to start the show. Fox said that Dar completes her and nothing could break them up. Rich Swann and Sasha Banks are nothing but yokes and jokes, she says (at least, I think that was the quote). They plugged their Extreme Rules mixed tag match, which will be on the pre-show.

As Fox was continuing to rant on about Banks, Swann came out, with Banks following. Banks said she and Swann share a lot of things in common, unlike Dar and Fox — they like to dance, and know about fashion. She and Fox exchanged barbs over their weaves before the match started.

Noam Dar defeated Rich Swann

Dar worked on Swann’s arm. Swann was mounting a comeback when Fox grabbed him by the leg. Banks and Fox had a brawl, with Banks snatching part of Fox’s weave. During this ruckus, Swann missed a charge in the corner which allowed Dar to lay him out with a knee strike for the win.

Dasha Fuentes interviewed Cedric Alexander about what just happened. He said Fox and Dar will get what’s coming to them at Extreme Rules. Rehabbing for three months doesn’t seem like a long time, but now he has to go out there and make up for lost time.

Cedric Alexander defeated Corey Hollis

Hollis honed in on Alexander’s injured knee, but Alexander made a quick comeback and pinned him with the Lumbar Check.

They showed a recap of what went down last week between Akira Tozawa and Brian Kendrick, where Tozawa defeated him in a street fight.

Drew Gulak defeated Mustafa Ali

Gulak came out to do his spiel about 205 Live becoming a No Fly Zone when Ali shut him up with a dive to the floor. Gulak came back with rest holds for heat. Ali made a comeback but when executing a crossbody attempt Gulak reversed the cover and got the win.

Gulak said that the victory wasn’t for him. It was for those who believe in his message for what 205 Live should be. Ali lost, and he needs to learn high flying doesn’t pay, staying on the ground is the way.

Austin Aries made his way to the ring. Ever since last night, people have been messaging him on social media. Not because of his new book, but because of the tap heard around the world. They showed footage of what went down on Raw, then they showed it again just in case anyone in the audience didn’t see. He said this may be the first time that Neville tapped, but only because the other two times Neville found a way to escape.

Neville came out and said last night he got lucky. This is how you carry yourself? You have no decorum. This Sunday, the King of the Cruiserweights will eradicate you once and for all. He claimed that 205 Live is his kingdom.

TJP jumped Aries from behind as Neville joined in on the fray. With TJP holding Aries, Neville kicked his knee in a bowing position, then took him out and locked in the Rings of Saturn. He stood over Aries as the show closed.

Final Thoughts —

This was an okay show that built well to Extreme Rules. The positive about 205 Live is that there are a number of storylines that are well highlighted and work well on paper. Problem is, the execution is super dry. Add in the uninterested crowd and standard WWE-style of work, and you have a solid but uninspiring program.

Mixed tag match set for WWE Extreme Rules

Another match was added to the card for Extreme Rules prior to tonight’s go-home episode of Raw.

Sasha Banks will be teaming with Rich Swann to take on Alicia Fox & Noam Dar in a mixed tag match at the pay-per-view. The match was announced in a video that WWE posted this afternoon, with Banks and Swann cutting a promo on their opponents.

Banks has feuded with Fox and Dar on Raw over the last few weeks. Swann has also had a long-running program with the couple.

Extreme Rules will take place this Sunday at the Royal Farms Arena in Swann’s hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. The updated lineup for the show is:

  • Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe vs. Bray Wyatt in a fatal five-way extreme rules match (the winner will get a future shot at Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship)
  • Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defending against Bayley in a kendo stick on a pole match
  • Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose defending against The Miz (Ambrose can lose his title by disqualification)
  • Raw Tag Team Champions The Hardys defending against Cesaro & Sheamus in a steel cage match
  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville defending against Austin Aries in a submission match
  • Sasha Banks & Rich Swann vs. Alicia Fox & Noam Dar in a mixed tag match

WWE 205 Live results: Noam Dar and Alicia Fox reunite

The Big Takeaway —

NoamDar defeated Rich Swann, then leaped into Alicia Fox’s arms, officially reuniting with one another. Akira Tozawa once again had the upper hand in the never-ending Lesson Battle of the Ages. Drew Gulak proved that his way of wrestling was the best by defeating Mustafa Ali after a high-flying maneuver failed.

Show Recap —

We opened immediately to the aftermath from the show closing angle on SmackDown where Chris Jericho was being helped to the back after crashing into a post with a chair wrapped around his throat thanks to Kevin Owens.

Footage from Payback was then shown where Neville retained the Cruiserweight title after grabbing a referee just as Austin Aries seemed within reach of victory. TJ Perkins came out and helped Neville in a beatdown after that match.

Perkins opened the show. He was again referred to as just TJP.

TJP defeated Lince Dorado

This was pretty good. Dorado hasn’t been on 205 Live in forever so at least this felt like a fresh bout. They had a nice back and forth match. Dorado at one point struck TJP with a reverse double foot stomp that looked pretty cool. TJP grabbed Dorado’s mask, threw him down, then submitted him with the kneebar.

Cory Graves threw it to an interview he conducted earlier in the day with Brian Kendrick. He asked why things are so heated between Kendrick and Akira Tozawa. Kendrick said he felt insulted. He wanted Tozawa to be his protege but got rejected by him. He wanted to teach him anyway but he’s playing around instead, doing his chant. At that moment Tozawa jumped Kendrick and sat down. He said this is lesson number five — always leave an interview with an impact.

Drew Gulak came out for the next match with a microphone, saying that he was declaring Fresno a “No Fly Zone.”

Drew Gulak defeated Mustafa Ali

Gulak avoided Ali whenever he tried to go to the top rope for a move. They had a solid match overall, though nothing worth noting. Ali went for a frog splash, but Gulak got the knees up and rolled him over for the win.

Gulak was interviewed after the match, saying high flying doesn’t work. He said that fans lead these superstars to their demise by cheering for them. Ali crashed and burned tonight and it was because of them. He claimed to be the future of 205 Live because what he does works.

Noam Dar defeated Rich Swann

After a few minutes of back and forth action, Dar got the heat after laying out Swann with a clothesline while he was crotched on the middle rope. Dar focused on one of Swann’s arms as Swann fired back with a great tope con hilo to the floor. Swann looked great when on offense, laying out Dar with a leg drop off the barricade.

Swann then hit the Phoenix Splash. He held his arm before covering, leading to a kick out.

Dar caught Swann in mid-air and clenched in with an armbar until Swann made it to the ropes. He grabbed Swann’s fingers and went to do a stomp before Swann rolled out of the way. Swann went for another Phoenix Splash, but Dar clipped him before he could get to the top rope. Swann got up until being floored by a running enzuigiri, allowing Dar to score the win.

Alicia Fox came out after the match. She was all smiles as she seemed to be interested in rekindling her and Dar’s relationship. Dar was hesitant, but he eventually accepted and they reunited, Dar leaping into Fox’s arms as the show went off the air.

Final Thoughts —

This was a weird show in that there was exactly zero follow up to the fallout from Payback. But this was fine in advancing the other programs that have been going on for what seems like forever on the show. Nothing was bad, but nothing felt fresh, either.

WWE 205 Live results: Gallagher vs. Daivari in an ‘I forfeit’ match

The Big Takeaway —

Jack Gallagher defeated the scoundrel Ariya Daivari in an “I forfeit” match, Tony Nese proved victorious in a match against Mustafa Ali, and the Noam Dar/Alicia Fox/Cedric Alexander triangle continued to get weirder.

Show Recap —

They opened with a video highlighting the Ariya Daivari/Jack Gallagher feud.

We then got an angle. It was supposed to be Cedric Alexander vs. Drew Gulak. As Alexander was coming to the ring, Alicia Fox followed. Alexander blew her off, which Fox didn’t like. Noam Dar came out to try and calm her down, but also went to the top rope and distracted Alexander.

It briefly became a two-on-one with Gulak and Dar taking on Alexander, but Alexander took them both out and sent them to the outside, leveling the two with a suicide dive. Alexander continued to lay into Dar, but Gulak shot back, clipping Alexander’s leg. This sent Dar and Fox packing, but Alexander made it back to the ring and wanted to do the match anyway.

Drew Gulak defeated Cedric Alexander

Fine match, but nothing special. As usual, the crowd is just there for this. Gulak, of course, worked on the leg a lot. Alexander did manage some good offense, including a springboard split-legged moonsault. Alexander went for the lumbar check, but couldn’t do it as his leg was bothering him. He was pinned with a back suplex hold.

Dar said, “Hey, look what I’ve done for you” in response to Alexander’s defeat. Fox responded by slapping him.

They showed a pretty good video package highlighting the feud between Neville and Rich Swann, which will lead to a match for the Cruiserweight title at the Royal Rumble.

Dasha Fuentes interviewed Tony Nese before his match. He said that the Premier Athlete doesn’t need to prepare for a match like this, as he’s already stronger and better. That’s why there’s thousands in this arena and only one Premier Athlete.

Tony Nese defeated Mustafa Ali

Ali looked great, hitting some great agile maneuvers in his comeback. Nese caught Ali in the turnbuckle, lifted him up, and nailed him with a gutbuster. Ali came back with a tornado DDT.  Nese caught him with a knee strike, however, and pinned him.

Akira Tozawa is still coming soon. This week, Apollo Crews put him over, including his striking and his ability to become champion.

Jack Gallagher defeated Ariya Daivari in an “I forfeit” match

This was your usual I quit match. Daivari got the heat with a side slam on the apron and worked Gallagher over on the outside, throwing him into the barricade. Gallagher’s hands were tied up but he managed to subdue Daivari with a headbutt and managed to escape. He grabbed an umbrella but Daivari struck back.

They brawled around the stage, then made it back to the announcer’s table. After calmly telling the announce team to move, Gallagher threw Daivari on top of the table. Gallagher managed to corner Daivari with an umbrella and told him to forfeit. Daivari started to say he forfeits, but instead smacked Gallagher in throat with the mic and applied the Cobra Clutch.

Gallagher grabbed his umbrella (William III) nearby and started smacking Daivari with William, causing him to let go. Gallagher came back with an umbrella-assisted crossface chicken wing, which led to Daivari finally forfeiting.

Gallagher celebrated as the show goes off the air.

Final Thoughts —

Without Neville, this show is lacking something fierce. Nothing was bad on this show, and the main event was a decent blow off match, but there’s no real reason to watch it unless you’re invested in the Cedric/Fox/Dar triangle or the (possible) blow-off between Gallagher and Daivari. It was a show, in other words.

Total Divastation: A look back at WWE Total Divas episode 5

By Kevin LaRose for WrestlingObserver.com

Fox, Rosa, and Paige are at a restaurant. Its lunch time. Rosa, pregnant, asks if the baby can still breathe if she holds her breath.

Nattie greets a fan outside of RAW. Inside, Nattie grabs Mandy’s breast. We’re 30 seconds in and this show already has a lot going on. Mandy starts groping Nattie. Eva Marie goes to get something to eat, and Mandy asks Nattie to train her. What is the make-up budget for this show? Nikki tells us that she’s about to become the longest reigning Diva’s Champion in history. It means a lot to her.

Paige and Rosa are out to lunch again with Mandy, Fox, and Eva Marie. Paige and Rosa talk about how they are wearing the same underwear.

Nikki is stretching in Brie’s house. Their mom comes in and starts yelling at Nikki for not stretching more. She tells her that she has to go to a doctor and stop doing the Rack Attack. Brie tells her that Nikki should instead shove her opponent’s face into her boobs as her finishing move.

Fox, Rosa, and Paige pull up to a party store in a huge-ass 4×4 truck. Rosa is shopping for her baby shower. Paige and Fox decide they are going to make it a goth/Halloween theme. Mandy talks about how she wants to work super hard and train and focus on being the best WWE Diva she can be and, like, stuff. Eva Marie is talking about how she just got her own “social media” guy who is going to follow her around and take her picture. Mandy wants her own “social media” guy.

Nikki and John are going out to a fancy restaurant, and Nikki thinks John looks cute. John admits that he just bought 55 suits when he was in New York… Wait, he bought 55 suits? Nikki thinks it’s a little weird that he bought 55 suits on one trip to New York, too. But she thinks he looks incredible. Nikki looks distressed, but not about the suits. Her neck really hurts and John gives her a massage. Cena is worried so he gets her into the Ferrari and they leave dinner. John Cena bought 55 suits in one trip to New York. 55 suits.

Back in Florida, Eva Marie is teaching Mandy how to use social media. Eva Marie pushes Mandy in the pool. In the gym, Sheamus tells Nikki he is selling his house and he’ll probably never have a family. Nikki is having hard times lifting weights. Backstage at Smackdown, Nattie is talking about how cute cats are. The pyro in the arena scares Rosa. Brie yells at Fox for planning a gothic themed baby shower for Rosa.

In a car, Brie is yelling at Nikki for not yawning after she yawned. Nikki is stoked that she’s going to be in the history books as the longest reigning Divas Champion of all time. Nikki is going to the doctor to get OZONE shots in her back. Everyone is telling Nikki to take care of herself and take some time off.

*****

Back in Florida, Nattie is working out at the performance center waiting for Mandy, who shows up really late in Converse. Nattie is pissed. She has one day off a week and Mandy asked her to drive two hours from Tampa to Orlando in order to help her train. Mandy wants to take a selfie before they start. Nattie finally has had enough and leaves. Mandy does not even understand why Nattie is pissed. Mandy apologizes and Nattie agrees to stay and help.

In Memphis, Rosa, Fox and Paige are in a car and Paige finds out she’s going to be on Conan. But it’s on the day of the baby shower. She tells them she actually wants the baby shower in California, not Florida. Nobody listened to her. Fox tells her she’s being selfish.

In another car, Nattie tells Nikki that all the NXT girls text TJ. Nattie tells Nikki she has to power through the pain. Again, Nattie with the worst advice (like when she offered her father alcohol, even though he’s sober). Backstage, Rosa starts to unload to Mandy about how mad she is about the baby shower. Mandy stares at her blankly. Nattie and Brie are talking about Nikki’s back, and now that she’s in front of Brie, Nattie tells Nikki to take it easy. The girls are eating in catering and Rosa comes in and confronts Fox. This baby shower is getting nasty.

*****

Backstage at RAW, Fox apologizes to Rosa but she’s actually not sorry.

Nikki is about to fight Charlotte, if she wins she’s the longest reigning Diva’s Champion in history. Her back is ruined though. This is crazy. It’s amazing to think what these athletes do to entertain. I know this show is fake but my respect for Nikki is real. Nikki becomes the longest reigning Diva’s Champion of all time.

Brie says that Nikki will never have kids to share this moment with. To celebrate the Divas go out to dinner with Dolph Ziggler. Dolph talks about having sex with the belt on. Brie gives a speech about how great Nikki is. Fox stands up and gives her own speech where she apologizes to Rosa. Rosa forgives her but she refuses to apologize back. She shouldn’t. Paige says it’s time to haze Mandy and asks her who the hottest Superstar is, and she says Dolph Ziggler, who has a big smile. Ziggler asks her if she’d rather have a reality show or be champion. She lies and says she would rather be the champion. Nattie thinks she’s genuine. Mandy says she would be in a long term relationship with Nattie. Paige says they respect Mandy. Everyone learned a lot of lessons this week.

They went to a lot of nice looking restaurants, but the big takeaway… John Cena bought 55 suits on one trip to New York.
