AEW Dynamite live results: Orange Cassidy vs. Swerve Strickland

Orange Cassidy defends the International Championship against Swerve Strickland on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

Cassidy’s string of title defenses continues against Swerve, who defeated Big Bill and Trent in a triple threat match on last week’s episode.

A TBS title defense is also set for the show, with Kris Statlander defending against Anna Jay.

The issue between Ricky Starks and Bullet Club Gold continues, with Starks taking on Jay White in a match where both Juice Robinson and FTR are banned from ringside.

JungleHook reunites in tag team action on the show, with “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry and Hook teaming against Dralistico and Preston Vance in a tornado tag bout.

BCC’s Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta face Trent, Chuck Taylor, and Rocky Romero of CHAOS in trios action.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they immediately throw to our opening title match of the evening.

Orange Cassidy defeated Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) to retain the AEW International Title

(A phenomenal opening contest and title defense number 24 for Cassidy, who again managed to survive by the skin of his teeth. Cassidy ultimately out swerved Swerve as we’re building to a presumed six man tag with Sting & Darby as Cassidy’s backup.)

Cassidy tried early mind games with his little kicks, but Strickland did a good job scouting by grounding the champion. Cassidy answered with a relaxed submission into a head scissors, sending Strickland to the floor. Strickland mocked the pocket pose and suckered Cassidy to the floor where he gained control, slamming the bad hand of Cassidy into the post. Back inside momentarily, Cassidy did a victory roll over the top back outside, where Strickland held on and Cassidy hit the roll into the barricade followed by a dive. They return to the ring where Cassidy got a two off a top rope cross body, until both fought up the ropes where both slammed down head first on the turnbuckle to send us to break. I should point out during commercial, an ad for Collision was shown saying it will be the second coming of CM Punk.

Strickland gained the advantage during picture in picture, as Cassidy battled out of the JML Driver; tried Beach Break, Cassidy’s back seized up, but did manage a Stundog Millionaire. Cassidy charged, but Strickland countered into a rolling Flatliner. Cassidy tried the light strikes, ultimately planting Strickland with a DDT for two. Cassidy was cut off and planted with a DVD on the apron, but scooted away before a double stomp could follow. With Strickland backed up onto the steps, Cassidy connected on a diving DDT from the apron the floor. Back inside, another diving DDT off the top for a close near fall.

Cassidy countered a pop up powerbomb into a hurricanrana pin, but couldn’t hook Strickland’s leg due to his bad hand. Prince Nana tried to run distraction, as Strickland collided with his manager into a Cassidy Orange Punch and Beach Break, but Strickland kicked out, bailing outside. Cassidy tried another DDT dive, but Strickland caught him into a brainbuster on the floor. Back in the ring, Strickland hit the House Call kick and Swerve Stomp, but Cassidy kicked out and Strickland couldn’t believe it. Cassidy rolled through a JML Driver, as both men tried roll ups with handfuls of tights, as Cassidy got the last laugh, getting the three count. Strickland cheated first, but Cassidy cheated more effectively in the end.

Mogul Embassy hit the ring to immediately beat down Cassidy when the lights went out and when they returned, Darby Allin & Sting were in the ring as everyone else had bailed to the ramp.

-A video package highlighting Switchblade Jay White & Ricky Starks is shown ahead of their match tonight. That will be the main event this evening.

Bryan Danielson makes his way to the commentary table ahead of the next match and we get a video package of Danielson challenging Kazuchika Okada during the Dominion show earlier in the week and Okada accepting the fight for Forbidden Door. When Okada steps in the ring with Danielson, he’s stepping foot in the desert and there will be no rain for the Rainmaker.

Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) defeated CHAOS (Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero)

(This was an action packed six man with the CHAOS boys getting off a lot of offense in this, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to overcome Moxley, Castagnoli and Yuta, who are on a whole other level right now. I have really enjoyed how much of a killer they’ve turned Yuta into over the course of the last few weeks.)

Excalibur mentions for those unaware how Best Friends are members of CHAOS along with Romero, as the faction is head up by one Kazuchika Okada. Taylor & Beretta chucked chairs at Yuta & Moxley immediately, as Romero hit a dive onto Castagnoli. Beretta followed with a superplex on Yuta to start the match, as Taylor hit a snap piledriver on the man he trained for a near fall. The match broke down with brawling on the outside, as Taylor hit a somersault dive on Castagnoli leading to CHAOS giving the people what they wanted with a triple hug. Sole Food half and half suplex on Moxley led to Yuta tripping Taylor to lead to a Moxley cutter to gain control. Danielson was insulted Best Friends didn’t attempt a pin attempt before the BCC took over during picture in picture.

Taylor was worked over the entire break, eating a Yuta snap German suplex, but ultimately Taylor hit a knee to make the hot tag to Beretta who ran wild on Moxley. A blind tag to Romero, who ran wild a bit himself until Roppongi Vice hit a double jump knee on Moxley, who was hung up and hit with double team offense for two. Beretta blocked a Gotch Piledriver from Moxley, as Best Friends connected with Strong Zero for a close two. Romero sank in a cross arm breaker, as Beretta tried a moonsault to the floor on Castagnoli, who hit an incredible uppercut in mid air. Yuta clocked Taylor with a Busaiku Knee, as Moxley countered the submission from Romero into a Bulldog Choke for the victory. Yuta was relentless on his attack on Taylor post match as a smiling Danielson gave his approval on commentary.

-The Hung Bucks are backstage talking about how next week is where Dynamite began in Washington DC. The Bucks & Hangman Page issue a challenge for a six man tag next week against Moxley, Castagnoli & Yuta, which Danielson accepted on behalf of the BCC.

-A video package of Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay is shown, highlighting their incredible match at Wrestle Kingdom earlier this year. Ospreay wants revenge for what Omega put him through and with his victory over Lance Archer at Dominion; the match is official with Omega vs. Ospreay 2 happening at Forbidden Door.

MJF Found His Worthy Competition

(After defending his AEW Title three times and saying he was out of competition, MJF had an answer to the call and it led to a pretty strong back and forth promo. While you could say this went a little long, I was happy that Cole got in his promo and this wasn’t just dominated by MJF talking the whole time. This should be a great match when it happens.)

MJF ran down the fans a bit, continuing to talk about how there’s no competition for him and says no one is on the level of the Devil. Adam Cole’s music hit, but before the crowd could say the Bay Bay line, MJF demanded the music be cut to loud boos. MJF said finally some competition, he said he’s a fan of Cole, as once CM Punk left him as a kid; he turned the channel to Ring of Honor, which he thought sucked, but was hooked on Cole’s work. MJF mentioned Cole’s time in CZW, traveling the indies, going to Florida to Shock the System as Shawn Michaels handpicked guy, which is Undisputed. MJF followed in Cole’s footsteps, going to CZW, becoming a name on the indies and signing with AEW, destined to one day feud with Cole. MJF was disappointed The Panama Playboy was gone, but The Panama Gameboy is here, more preoccupied playing video games with his balls always in Britt Baker’s purse. MJF said Cole is now so frail he makes crack whores jealous. MJF said the fans might think Cole isn’t utilized properly, but AEW has done everything they could to make Cole over, when all they have to do for MJF is ring the bell. MJF has the best Dog Collar, Iron Man, Four Way in AEW history. MJF said he heard a rumor that a certain individual in Titan Towers didn’t think Cole could make it and named Vince McMahon, who MJF is a big fan of. MJF thought the old man lost his marbles, but standing in the ring with Cole, Vince was right.

Cole asked if that was the best MJF got, as MJF is coming across like an internet troll. Cole questions MJF’s fascination on other people’s relationships and asks if that’s why his fiancé left him. Cole said MJF is world class, a world class douchebag. Cole in regards to his body of work, MJF couldn’t touch him and asked if they should go backstage, piss in cups and take tests to see who is natural and who’s not. Cole swears on his life no one backstage respects MJF, as everyone thinks he’s selfish, conceited and does bare minimum to get to where he’s at.

MJF said he’ll cry into his money and how that’s tough talk coming from Keith Lee’s manager. Cole said that’s typical MJF, creating a false narrative, calling him a coward for not wanting to fight. Cole said he’s better than MJF and the fans know it. MJF said he’d fight Cole anywhere as Cole smirked and said attaboy, champ, before hitting the Adam Cole Bay Bay pose.

-We see footage of the Buy In at Double or Nothing where The Hardys gained control of Ethan Page’s contract. Backstage, Matt, Jeff & Brother Zay introduce Page, who was ordered to apologize to Zay for injuring his neck last month. Page apologized, as Matt said he could make Page very talented. Zay moaned in Page’s ear and this storyline seems destined to go on forever.

Jack Perry & FTW Champion HOOK defeated Preston Vance & Dralistico (w/Jose the Assistant) in a Texas Tornado Match

(For a match that was only set up a week ago, this was a wild battle, as similar to the previous Texas Tornado Match, Preston Vance bled another gusher.)

Vance & Dralistico attacked Perry on the ramp during his entrance, as Jose threw in cable chords in the ring, as Vance tried to charge at HOOK ringside with a chain, but HOOK low bridged and brawled into the crowd. Perry choked Dralistico with the chord and ripped at the mask, as Vance & HOOK kept brawling into commercial.

Back from break, Dralistico hit a double stomp on Perry, who was tied up in the ropes. HOOK leapt off the barricade and popped Vance with a chain wrapped punch to bust Vance open badly. Perry tried a dive, but Vance caught him and Dralistico followed with a leap off the top to the floor. With two tables set up ringside, HOOK fought off a double choke slam and hit an overhead throw on Dralistico, whose mask is ripped apart from earlier by Perry. Vance hit a discus lariat on HOOK, wrapping the chain around the neck and went to the apron when Perry flew in with a chair shot to the head. HOOK hit a nasty T-Bone suplex off the apron through the tables as Perry spiked Dralistico with a DDT in the ring, but Jose made the save, took his shirt off and hulked up, only to be choked out by REDRUM. Perry sank in the Snare Trap on Dralistico and Jungle HOOK got the double tap to win it.

Tony Khan’s AEW Collision Announcement

Tony Khan is backstage with what has become his weekly announcement. Khan said AEW Collision starts June 17th and says the main event for the debut show will be Switchblade Jay White, Juice Robinson & Samoa Joe will battle AEW Tag Team Champions FTR & CM Punk.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/Don Callis) defeated Damon Ace

(This was another week of nuclear heat for Callis & Takeshita and it’s simply wonderful.)

Takeshita charged at Ace with strikes as the fans are just letting Callis have it with boos. Ace got off one strike until Takeshita leveled him with a shot followed by a running knee strike to win it. As the entire match went on, the big screen repeatedly played Callis turning on Kenny Omega.

Callis took the microphone and said unlike last week, he will be heard. Takeshita took the mic and spoke Japanese briefly before Callis said everything Omega had in his life was because of him. Omega defeated Will Ospreay because of Callis and Omega has become a cancer in Callis’ body, so he cut it out. Callis and his family will cut The Elite from AEW for good.

**********

-Alex Marvez was backstage at Christian Cage’s locker room where commotion was heard. Cage came out and said he was the uncrowned TNT Champion, something Arn Anderson cost him. So Cage revealed that Luchasaurus had bloodied Arn’s son, Brock and said it was an early Father’s Day present.

Kris Statlander defeated Anna Jay A.S. (w/Matt Menard) to retain the TBS Title

(Daddy Magic in his glorious David Puddy Seinfeld jacket, seemingly interfered as frequently as Elaine & Puddy would break up. Statlander chalked up another defense with Jay looking good even in defeat. We are clearly headed for Statlander taking on Taya, who is bitter about how Statlander became TBS Champion.)

Both ladies traded offense on the ground early until Statlander hit a back suplex out of a Jay headlock. Jay took a powder, tried to start a chase, as Menard ran distraction, but Jay’s kick from the apron was blocked. A thrust kick back inside led to a missed charge by Statlander with Jay hitting a spin kick to the back.

Jay controlled the entire break, but Statlander turned it around with corner charges and powerslam. For the second week, Taya Valkyrie is shown annoyed backstage watching on, as Statlander went to the top, was distracted again by Menard to allow Jay to plant Statlander for a near fall. Jay sank in the Queen Slayer, but Statlander powered up, whipped Jay down, hit a backbreaker and a Tombstone Piledriver for the win. Valkyrie was shown furious about Statlander’s title defense.

**********

Jay White defeated Ricky Starks

(This was a fun main event until the finish, which kind of sucked the air out of the crowd, not because of who won, just how it happened. The ref bump looked ridiculous and people weren’t sure what to make of the interference finish. Perhaps there are two new members of BC Gold? It certainly would be a weird choice in my opinion if so.)

Starks sprinted up the ramp to attack before the bell, as both men brawled ringside until Starks hit a high back drop and searched for something under the ring. This allowed White to crawl up the ramp, where Starks tried to throw him off the ramp, but White raked the eyes. White took way too long to follow up, as Starks countered a suplex with one of his own on the floor. That advantage was short lived, as White regained and remained in control during commercial.

White lit up Starks with chops until Starks woke up and fired off strikes until White crotched him trying a Tornado DDT. White connected on a massive superplex, signaled for Blade Runner, which Starks battled out of with a leaping lariat and the Tornado DDT. A full nelson slam only got Starks two, as he tried Roshambo, which White countered into a Uranage. Both traded strikes until Starks leapt for a Spear, but White countered with a pump knee. Starks floated over a suplex and hit the Spear the second attempt, as he hit Roshambo, but referee Paul Turner got clipped by pretty much the toe of White, so he bumped. The Gunns showed up and laid out Starks with 3:10 to Yuma, as White connected with Blade Runner for the win.

Post match, Juice Robinson ran out to celebrate as commentary assumes The Gunns interfered since they have a history with FTR, who are currently feuding with Bullet Club Gold.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they are joined at the commentary desk by Bryan Danielson leading to our opening bout. Danielson demanded highlights be shown of The BCC’s win over The Elite at Double or Nothing. Danielson said that is what Death-Jitsu looks like.

Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta defeated The Lucha Bros (Penta el Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix w/Alex Abrahantes) & Bandido

(A hot start to the show that was action packed and specifically showcased Wheeler Yuta for the second show in a row. First getting the pin in the main event of Double or Nothing and getting his hand raised tonight.)

Huge reaction for The Lucha Bros & Bandido, who is dressed like El Chapulin Colorado with his ring gear. The BCC tried to attack early, suffered triple superkicks to the floor, but cut off dives before Bandido & the Lucha Bros could take off. All six men brawled ringside before the match officially began with Yuta & Bandido, who did his stalling vertical suplex for a full minute as the Lucha Bros held off Moxley & Castagnoli. Yuta avoided Fear Factor, but ate a Fenix rope walk kick while Penta took out Castagnoli with a backstabber. Yuta dodged a springboard Bandido cross body, as Mox & Castagnoli hit an assisted spike piledriver on the floor to take over into commercial.

Bandido remained isolated until a Tornillo laid out Moxley and Fenix made the hot tag with a comeback thrust kick to Castagnoli and corner spin kick to Yuta. Dueling thrust kicks on Yuta and a Sling Blade by Penta on Castagnoli, who followed with a roll through DDT on Moxley before being laid out with a Castagnoli lariat. Bandido & Yuta entered and had a long forearm exchange before Bandido hit a pop up cutter. Lucha Bros hit double dives on Moxley & Castagnoli while Bandido hit a huge Frog Splash for two on Yuta. Danielson attributes the training they’ve done with Yuta to kick out, as he wouldn’t have kicked out of that a year ago. Moxley saved Yuta from the 21 Plex, as Castanoli flew in with an uppercut, leading to Yuta hitting a Busaiku Knee, anvil elbow and the seatbelt for the pin.

-Alex Marvez is backstage with The Young Bucks & Hangman Page asking how they are feeling after Anarchy in the Arena. Matt Jackson said The BCC brought out the worst in them, as he never thought he’d see the day he’d try to burn off someone’s face with an exploding sneaker. Page said they’re still standing and still swinging, while The BCC relies on the numbers game. Evil Uno entered with Alex Reynolds & John Silver who apologized for interrupting him with his new friends. Page was going to go after them, but Marvez asked Page’s thoughts on the word of Kenny Omega going back to Canada? Page said Omega didn’t go back home to Canada and walked off. They’re definitely implying Omega has presumably gone to Japan to get backup for The Elite.

**********

-Tony Schiavone introduces Switchblade Jay White & Juice Robinson to the ring, asking about their attack of Ricky Starks backstage at Double or Nothing. White said he bets Starks feels on top of the world having eliminated both of them from the battle royal, but Starks isn’t International Champion and he lost to White. Robinson brings up FTR saving Starks from their attack and FTR aren’t Starks’ friends since Starks has no friends. White ran down FTR until the AEW World Tag Team Champions made their way to the ring.

White & Robinson hid behind Schiavone as they believe FTR are there to apologize to them and join Bullet Club Gold calling them Top Shelf Top Guys. White went to hand the microphone Harwood, but dropped it, allowing Robinson to pop Harwood with a handful of quarters and hit his finisher. White laid out Wheeler with Blade Runner before bailing as Ricky Starks made the save. Starks challenged White to finally put an end to this next week on Dynamite.

Tony Khan’s Collision Announcement

Khan is backstage and said tonight’s announcement is that the debut edition of Collision will feature CM Punk. This got both loud cheers and also a few boos from the crowd.

Swerve Strickland defeated Big Bill & Trent Baretta

(I enjoyed this three way quite a bit, as everyone got a chance their moments to shine and the finish would presumably lead one to believe that Strickland is next in line for the International Title, though that wasn’t said.)

We saw the run of eliminations Bill went on in the Battle Royal at the PPV, while also Strickland was responsible for Bill’s elimination. Strickland immediately took a powder as Baretta used his speed to escape the early clutches of Bill and take out Strickland with a dive. Back inside, Bill used his size to hit multiple corner splashes, dumped Strickland over the top and gave Baretta a big boot into picture in picture.

Bill was taken out on the floor as Strickland & Baretta fought to the apron where Baretta pulled Strickland into a Bill big boot. Baretta connected with a moonsault off the second rope to the floor to take out Bill, but ate a Strickland running punt to follow. Strickland wanted his double stomp, but Bill fought up on the ropes with him before Baretta joined Strickland and both superplexed Bill in a cool moment. Baretta connected with a half and half overhead suplex on Strickland, but ran into a Boss Man Slam from Bill. Strickland missed a Swerve Stomp on Baretta, who hit a running knee and piledriver for two. Bill & Baretta fought to the apron where Bill choke slammed him back into the ring. Strickland hit a double stomp on Bill from the top rope to the apron, scurried in the ring and got the pin on Baretta.

-A video package highlighting Kris Statlander’s road to recovery is shown culminating in winning the TBS Title at Double or Nothing, as she is officially the 1 in Jade Cargill’s 60-1.

-Renee Paquette welcomed The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass to the entrance stage. Things didn’t go their way at Double or Nothing when they lost their Trios Title match. Billy Gunn said he feels he let The Acclaimed down, but Caster said they win together and they lose together, they’re still the people’s choice. Bowens said a few months ago they were screwed out of Tag Team gold and said Gunn deserves to hold gold one more time in his career. The Acclaimed loves Daddy Ass and everyone loves The Acclaimed. I felt bad for Renee here, Bowens tossed down the microphone after the go home line and she had to awkwardly go and pick it up.

**********

Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita Explain Their Actions

Tony Schiavone is sickened to announce Callis & Takeshita to the ring, who don’t have entrance music, but instead showered with boos from the crowd. Callis said he hopes those boos are for Kenny Omega as Callis is the real victim here, running down all of Omega’s accomplishments thanks to Callis himself. Callis blames the scar he has to see every morning he wakes up on Omega. While Callis lost a nephew, he gained a son in Takeshita, who is better than Rikidozan, Inoki, Maeda, Mutoh & Okada. Takeshita will show soon he’s also better than Kenny Omega. Takeshita took the microphone and said they will destroy The Elite & Kenny Omega. Callis said Omega destroyed his family, so he’s going to build a new one to eliminate The Elite from All Elite Wrestling. This was nuclear heat for both Callis & Takeshita throughout this entire segment.

-We see a highlight video of the TNT Title Ladder Match with Wardlow retaining over Christian Cage. Arn Anderson talks about biting the lizard mans thumb while Wardlow said Luchasaurus found out not to get involved in their business, but will be more than happy to finish the job if Luchasaurus wants to be next in line.

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin defeated The Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)

(Well, you could easily say that Allin & Cassidy are still suffering from their matches on Sunday, as they got their asses kicked for at least 90% of this match. The wheels fell off for the Gates of Agony though, as Cassidy & Allin showed good team work once again to get the victory. The post match is certainly setting up Cassidy & Strickland, but I wonder if Sting & Allin potentially face Kaun & Liona?)

Liona & Kaun attacked at the bell, took too much time hyping each other up and Allin briefly got free, tried a springboard Coffin Drop, but Liona hit a Pounce in mid air. Cassidy meanwhile got flattened with a double knee to the chest as Brian Cage, Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana came to the stage to watch the action as Kaun & Liona dominated the action into picture in picture. Allin suffered a running senton on the apron and uranage back inside by Liona.

Allin used his speed to send Liona & Kaun colliding into each other to make the luke warm tag to Cassidy, who used his pocket offense to gain the upper hand. A satellite DDT on Kaun, who ducked the Orange Punch to allow Liona to hit a huge Samoan Drop. Cassidy countred a double chokeslam into a double hurricanrana, as Allin made the tag and used his speed to hit springing Coffin Drops and dive to the floor on Liona. Kaun went for the kill on Cassidy, who answered with a Stundog Milionaire and Code Red by Allin. Cassidy took out Liona with a dive while Allin hit a Coffin Drop on Kaun for the win.

Post match, Cage, Strickland & Nana slowly walked to the ring and were about to attack when Sting’s music hit and The Icon made his way to the ring. Mogul Embassy retreated, but Strickland never took his eyes off the International Title.

-A highlight video is shown of MJF successfully defending his AEW World Title at Double or Nothing. MJF said the clock is ticking and AEW is running out of competition. They are running out of gladiators for MJF to slay, as it’s been made clear that no one is on the level of the Devil.

**********

-Tony Schiavone is once again in the ring and introduces FTW Champion HOOK. Schiavone talked about HOOK helping The Hardys win on Sunday to give Matt Hardy the contract of Ethan Page. Before HOOK can say what is next, La Faccion Ingobernable interrupt as Jose the Assistant said this is what they have to do to get an opportunity. Rush is too dangerous to be on TV and isn’t there tonight, but tells Preston Vance & Dralistico to attack HOOK, which they did. Jungle Boy Jack Perry made the save and took out both Vance & Dralistico on the ramp with a chair, while Jose retreated to the ring where he was met with a suplex from HOOK. Jungle HOOK stood tall as Vance & Dralistico stared them down from the ramp.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with new AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm, Saraya & Ruby Soho. Storm said luck had nothing to do with her title win on Sunday, as she’s traveled all over the world to get to this point. Soho praised Storm’s work ethic, while Saraya did the same and Storm said the only ones lucky are the AEW fans.

Kris Statlander defeated Nyla Rose to retain the TBS Title

This is Statlander’s first match on Dynamite since January of 2022 as she nearly bodyslammed Rose early, but dodged a Rose senton and sank in a body scissors. Rose got the ropes and both ladies fought for suplex attempts before Rose slammed Statlander into the corner as Taya Valkyrie was shown watching backstage before going to commercial.

Rose controlled the entire break before Statlander mounted a comeback by avoiding a splash. Statlander threw a series of strikes ending in a corner uppercut and knee lift that led to a Blue Thunder Bomb for two. Statlander went up top, but had the legs pulled from under her and rolled to the floor where Rose squashed her with a somersault senton. While set up against the barricade, Rose hit a running cannonball and chokeslam back in the ring for two. A jawbreaker put Statlander back in control, as she connected with a 450 Splash to get the victory. Valkyrie didn’t look impressed watching on in the back.

**********

Adam Cole & Dr. Britt Baker defeated Chris Jericho & Saraya

(A fun main event, as I was surprised at the finish of Jericho taking another loss to Cole in four days. You’d have to assume this feud is almost wrapped and both start up builds for Forbidden Door, which as a show, didn’t get built up at all tonight, hopefully after Dominion this weekend that changes next week.)

Cole & Jericho slugged it out immediately with Jericho gaining the advantage early, showing a shiner on his eye from the finish of their match Sunday. Cole charged out of the corner with a lariat before Saraya tagged in and dared Cole to hit her. Baker jumped in and laid out Saraya with a Sling Blade and Air Raid Crash, but Saraya grabbed the referee Paul Turner’s leg long enough for Jericho trip up Baker to put his team in control during picture in picture.

Jericho took the ref as Ruby Soho & Toni Storm hit ringside to triple team Baker until Hikaru Shida ran down with a kendo stick to chase off The Outcasts. Baker was able to make the tag to Cole, who pounced on Jericho with hammer fists until missing a dropkick that led to a Jericho Lionsault for two. Baker & Saraya tagged back in with both battling in the corner until Saraya was knocked off, with Jericho covering his partner. Baker splashed down on both as Cole hit a backstabber on Jericho, who countered Panama Sunrise into the Walls of Jericho.

Baker put on her glove, broke up the submission and sank in Lockjaw on Jericho for a huge reaction. Saraya broke it up, but Cole looked for a superkick, only to run into a Code Breaker for two. Both Jericho & Cole collided with clotheslines into the double down before both ladies jumped in and slugged it out again. Saraya turned a neckbreaker attempt into the Good Knight as Jericho grabbed the baseball bat, took a swing at Baker and ate a Cole superkick instead. Cole & Baker hit dueling superkicks on Jericho as Cole lowered The Boom to get the win and pose for the fans to end the show as Jericho was furious.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as the TNT Champion makes his entrance to loud Wardlow chants from the crowd.

Wardlow Confronts Christian Cage

Wardlow immediately called out Cage after his comments last week, daring Cage to spit in his face. Right on cue, Cage came to the ring with Luchasaurus as backup. After a face off, Cage said Wardlow’s time as TNT Champion is just about over and was about to spit in his face when the brawl began. The numbers were too much, as Cage hit a low blow while Luchasaurus pulled a ladder out from under the ring and chokeslammed Wardlow through it. Cage followed with a Killswitch onto the bent up ladder, making that look even more brutal, as Cage stood tall with the TNT Title over the body of Wardlow.

-Excalibur briefly recaps the actions of Don Callis last week against Kenny Omega and plugs how tonight we will hear from Callis.

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin defeated Lee Moriarty & Big Bill

(This turned into quite the fun opener, as Allin & Cassidy showed fun chemistry together, especially after teaming together on the house show loop. I enjoyed the finish and callback from Allin and the side headlock, since that has played part of his story with MJF.)

After each title defense Cassidy has made, it seems like more of his body is being taped up, as this week not only the taped right hand, but kinesio tape on the back as well. A fast back and forth of pin attempts from Cassidy & Moriarty led to both men tagging and Bill tossing Allin around like a rag doll. Bill wanted a test of strength, so Allin slapped him in the face as he & Cassidy connected on double dives on the floor. Cassidy tried a float over in the corner, but as he landed on the apron, Bill connected with a big boot to take control into commercial break.

Cassidy seemingly kneed his way out of a suplex and tagged Allin, but Moriarty had taken the ref and the tag was called off. Both Moriarty & Bill missed corner charges, as Allin made the hot tag and ran wild by throwing his body at both opponents. Allin tried a Code Red on Moriarty, which Bill nearly countered into a chokeslam, but Allin fought free to the ropes. Fending off Moriarty, Allin leapt right into the Boss Man Slam by Bill. Allin took out the legs of Bill, which allowed Cassidy to his a Satellite DDT. Moriarty jumped in and applied the Border City Stretch, but Cassidy escaped. Moriarty was set up in the corner, as Allin & Cassidy hit a double superplex, but as they got to their feet, were clocked by a Bill clothesline. An amazing Stundog Millionaire into a Code Red on Bill, as Moriarty was planted with Beach Break and a Coffin Drop. To send a message to MJF, Allin applied a side headlock on Moriarty and got the pin that way to play off their history.

-Alex Marvez tried to interview The Young Bucks back in the parking lot, giving a quick update on Kenny Omega, saying he’s hurt but he’ll be ok, when the Blackpool Combat Club surrounded them. Nick was slammed on the hood of a truck, while Matt’s bad arm was targeted. Jon Moxley said the BCC are the only Elite group around here, as they walked off with The Bucks left lying.

-Renee Paquette is trying to get a medical update on Wardlow from doctors when Arn Anderson walked up, furious, slapping an ice pack away from Wardlow, asking what he’s prepared to do? Wardlow said he’s willing to beat Christian Cage at his own game and challenges Cage to a TNT Title Ladder Match at Double or Nothing.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Orange Cassidy, asking him about Kyle Fletcher attacking him last week. Cassidy said whoever wants a shot at the International Title at Double or Nothing, go find Tony Khan, he’ll fight everyone.

Sammy Guevara defeated Exodus Prime

(Justin Roberts really emphasized Guevara being from Texas, as these past few weeks it’s been coming across like Guevara is a babyface, which is strange after all this time him being hated.)

Guevara hit a jumping knee and the GTH for the quick win. Guevara took the mic and talked about the old days in Texas saying everything he went through made him what he is today. Guevara talked about a few wrong turns taking him to the right place, which is Double or Nothing. Guevara listens to his heart, which tells him he’s going to be the new AEW World Champion.

-A history of the Four Pillars in AEW is shown as Excalibur goes over how MJF, Darby Allin, Jack Perry & Sammy Guevara are the present and future of AEW. This was a good, albeit quick video package showcasing the main event of Double or Nothing.

FTR Attempt To Get Their Revenge

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and introduces Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, Satnam Singh & Sonjay Dutt to the ring. As they were making their entrance, Dutt showed off two guitars with FTR’s names on them. Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler ran out from the back and sent Singh off the stage through a table and attacked Jarrett, Dutt & Lethal. Wheeler got in chair shots on Jarrett, while Harwood stripped Lethal out of his suit. As FTR were about to hit a Shatter Machine on Jarrett, Karen Jarrett jumped in from behind, hit a low blow on Wheeler, as Jeff hit a Stroke on Harwood. Singh recovered, came to the ring and planted FTR with a double chokeslam. Lethal & Jeff hit simultaneous guitar shots on FTR who crumbled, while Dutt played a broken guitar, as Lethal & Jarrett held the Tag Team titles in the air.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Darby Allin and references the headlock finish of his match earlier. Allin said it was a message to MJF when Sammy Guevara walked in and said he respects Allin. Guevara said he knows Allin doesn’t trust him, but says he won’t lay down for MJF, as all that matters at Double or Nothing is that MJF doesn’t walk away as AEW Champion. Allin said may the best man win and fist bumped Guevara.

Toni Storm & Ruby Soho (w/Saraya) defeated Dr. Britt Baker & Hikaru Shida

(The crowd was really behind Shida & Baker tonight, as this was Shida’s first match back since December on Elevation. I’m assuming they are saving the six woman tag originally scheduled for tonight for Double or Nothing, as this was yet again a case of the numbers game playing into The Outcasts favor with Jamie Hayter not there.)

Storm & Soho tried a fast start on Shida, who immediately turned the tables and suplexed both ladies onto each other in the corner. Storm was sent outside, as Shida connected with a missile dropkick on Soho. An enzugiri on Storm led to a tag to Baker, who clocked Storm with a ripcord elbow. Saraya tripped up Baker, which allowed Storm to hit a charging hip attack to the floor, as Saraya got in some more cheap shots.

Baker was isolated the entire picture in picture until she hit a charging neckbreaker into the double down. Shida & Soho made tags and slugged it out, which Shida won with right hands to everyone, even Saraya. Shida followed with a cross body to the floor on all The Outcasts. A question mark kick sent Storm to the floor, as Soho was planted with a Falcon Arrow. Shida hit a Meteora off the top on Soho, but Storm broke it up. Baker stacked Storm & Soho and hit a neckbreaker and DDT combo for a nice near fall. Soho was able to avoid Lockjaw into No Future, but as Storm made the tag, Baker connected with an Air Raid Crash. Saraya ran distraction yet again, this time allowing Storm to spray Baker in the eyes and hit Storm Zero to steal the win. Excalibur talked about Storm gaining her fourth win in five days in AEW.

-Renee Paquette is backstage yet again with Orange Cassidy, who informs Cassidy since they last talked earlier, 20 men went to Tony Khan’s office and answered the challenge. Cassidy said that’s a lot, so he makes it a 21 man Blackjack Battle Royal for the International Title at Double or Nothing. Cassidy offered Paquette a spot in the match, which she politely turned down.

**********

-Tony Khan is backstage and talked about today being one of the greatest days in the history of AEW. It was announced at the TNT Upfronts that the 2 hour AEW Collision will premiere Saturday June 17th. Collision will be a hot ticket with the premiere location being announced next week. However, June 24th will be in Toronto, June 29th in Hamilton, July 8th in Regina, July 15th in Calgary and finally July 22nd in Newark, New Jersey at the Prudential Center.

Roderick Strong defeated Chris Jericho in a Falls Count Anywhere Match

(Well this definitely lived up to the Falls Count Anywhere stipulation, as Jericho & Strong fought all over the building and had some fun moments. It was really played off like Cole & Strong pulled one over on Jericho, outsmarting him and luring him outside the building. Credit to Excalibur, who had to deliver the unfortunate news of Superstar Billy Graham’s passing during this, I probably would’ve waited until after the match, but safe to say that wasn’t Excalibur’s call.)

Strong attacked with chops and charging forearms before Jericho could even get his jacket off, nearly mowing down referee Aubrey in the process. Jericho started up a chop battle, which wasn’t smart, as Strong hit a takedown slam. More chops by both men, as Strong was sent to the apron, as Strong avoided a springing Jericho into a slam on the apron. Back in the ring, Strong nearly got End of Heartache, but Jericho countered into the Walls of Jericho. Strong got a rope break, as both men fought into the crowd during commercial. Strong was able to slam Jericho ribs first on the railing, even getting a two count on the steps in the crowd.

Excalibur delivers the very unfortunate news of Superstar Billy Graham passing away during this match, which is a tough task to do, as Taz & Schiavone share condolences.

Strong & Jericho continue their brawl into the crowd, as Jericho slammed Strong through a table and both men fought into a stairwell fighting onto a ledge with Jericho charging and tackling Strong for two. Both spilled back into the sea of the crowd as Jericho had a chair, but Strong threw plastic cutlery and ice cream at Jericho’s face. Schiavone’s reaction to Mr. Softee was absolutely hysterical. Jericho dug into the trashcan to clean his face, which is very questionable if you ask me.

Strong is bleeding from the shoulder, as they went out of the arena where Adam Cole appeared behind Jericho right as they stepped foot out of the building. Cole lowered The Boom on Jericho while in a dirt pile, as Strong followed with a jumping knee for the victory. Excalibur talked about how this is just a measure of revenge for Cole, as this is far from over between Jericho & himself.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry defeated Rush (w/Jose the Assistant)

(This match was super hard hitting, as Rush beat the crap out of Perry for a majority of this one. There were some questionable moments however, with the random cup check and the referee just watching Jose get involved constantly. Regardless, the post match was a fun visual with three of the four pillars having a face off ahead of Double or Nothing.)

Rush wasted no time attacking Perry at the bell on the outside. Jose pulled a cable chord from under the ring, as Rush continuously slammed Perry head first against the barricade. This attack led to Perry being busted open, as Perry never even got out of the gate before they went to picture in picture. Perry tried to fight back with his comeback lariat, but Rush had it scouted. Perry fired off a chop, as Rush literally just grabbed the crotch of Perry, which Excalibur said was a cup check. I have zero clue what the heck that was, as the ref just stood there. Perry & Rush fought up on the second rope and continued their chop battle until Perry threw headbutts and a hurricanrana.

Jose grabbed the leg of Perry, again in front of the referee, as Perry ducked a charging Rush and sank in the Snare Trap. Rush managed to make it to the ropes, as both men went to the apron, where Rush wiped Perry’s face from the blood and licked it, which was just gross. Perry charged, but Rush hit an overhead belly to belly to the floor with Perry came within inches of landing on his head. Perry tried fighting back in the ring, but was starched with another forearm. Rush shoved the ref away in the corner and Perry got a school boy flash pin with a handful of trunks.

Post match Preston Vance, Jose & Rush all attacked Perry until Darby Allin hit the ring, but he found himself choked out by the cable chord Jose brought out earlier. Sammy Guevara made the save, taking out Rush on the ramp, as Allin took out Jose with a Scorpion Death Drop. Vance was wiped out by Guevara and Allin, as all three challengers for the AEW Title are left in the ring staring each other down.

-Renee Paquette approaches MJF backstage after seeing what just happened, asking him how he’s feeling ahead of the AEW Title match at Double or Nothing. MJF slapped the microphone out of her hands and walked away.

**********

-We saw footage of Jamie Hayter being injured last month by Toni Storm, who was standing by with Renee Paquette backstage. Storm said she’s setting records in AEW with four wins in five days and says she’s an entirely different animal in AEW, challenging Jamie Hayter for a Women’s Title match at Double or Nothing.

Switchblade Jay White (w/Juice Robinson) defeated Ricky Starks via disqualification

(I was surprised this match was taking place on Dynamite instead of the PPV, but the finish certainly allows them to have a rematch on that show. This was a very good match while it lasted, as the crowd was into it from the start.)

White suckered Starks into a chase early on, driving him into the edge of the ring, but Starks fought back by sending White into the barricade. Back inside, White caught Starks with a Hot Shot and some violent chops to follow. To the floor again, Starks was able to battle back until White drove Starks face first onto the apron. There’s dueling chants from the crowd as White controlled during the break with Starks turning the tide when they returned.

Starks fired out of the corner with a lariat, Manhattan Drop, charging knee and back elbow. White charged right into a belly to belly suplex and Tornado DDT for two. It took Starks too long to follow up, as White leapt with a shoulder to the midsection and snap DDT. White draped Starks over the top rope and followed with a huge uranage for a nearfall of his own. White signaled for Blade Runner, but Starks elbowed free until White suplexed Starks over the top to the floor.

Back inside, Starks almost got a flash roll up for two, as he followed with a snap neck breaker. Starks hit a misdirect slam that nearly got three, as White floated over Roshambo. Another misdirect, as Robinson tripped up Starks long enough for White to try Blade Runner, but Starks got a roll up for two. White gouged the eyes of Starks, as the ref reprimanded him in the corner. Robinson jumped in with a chair, but Starks got control, sent Robinson to the floor, popped White in the midsection and the back, getting himself disqualified.

Don Callis Addresses His Actions

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and introduces Don Callis, who makes his way to the ring with security lined up down the stage. The footage of Callis turning on Kenny Omega last week is shown on the video screen, as the crowd is booing Callis out of the building. Schiavone asks why, as Callis said instead of why he did what he did to Omega, he wants to talk of what Omega did to him. Callis is the victim in this scenario, as he ran down everything he has done for Omega. Without Don Callis, there is no Kenny Omega, as that line brought out Omega from the back, laying out all the security guards until the Blackpool Combat Club attacked from behind including a Paradigm Shift by Moxley on the stage.

The BCC jumped in the ring and said this was The Elite’s final warning to stay down. Omega struggled to his feet as The Young Bucks limped out with weapons in hand. The numbers evened up as Hangman Adam Page walked out to a massive ovation, as Omega handed him a barbed wire broom. The brawl was on, as The Elite took turns beating up Wheeler Yuta, as The Bucks hit a BTE Trigger and Page with a Buckshot Lariat. Page stood next to The Bucks & Omega and said they are the heart of AEW, they are The Elite. Page said at Double or Nothing, it’ll be The Blackpool Combat Club vs. The Elite in Anarchy in the Arena. This was an incredible ending to Dynamite, as the crowd was on fire from even the moment Callis walked out.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as we immediately go to our opening contest with both men already in the ring.

Claudio Castagnoli defeated Rey Fenix (w/Alex Abrahantes) in a Double Jeopardy Match

(With this win, Castagnoli will get a ROH Tag Team Title match with a partner of his choosing against the Lucha Bros. This was a spectacular opening contest, one of the strongest in Dynamite’s history in my opinion. These two worked incredibly well together and that should surprise no one.)

Fenix used his speed in the early going but was ultimately caught with a Castagnoli tilt a whirl back breaker. Fenix fought out of the corner with a triple jump hurricanrana that sent Castagnoli to the floor where he was met with two Topes, but was caught on the third, as Castagnoli pressed Fenix down onto the barricade. While in a suplex position, Castagnoli tried walking up the steps, but fell back and Fenix walked the barricade railing into a spectacular hurricanrana. Back in the ring, Castagnoli dropping a charging Fenix with a DVD for two, as Bryan Danielson & Wheeler Yuta were shown watching backstage. In a fireman’s carry position, Castagnoli tried to press Fenix over his head on the second rope, but Fenix countered into another hurricanrana. Castagnoli avoided a Code Red and turned Fenix inside out with a lariat for two. Fenix was pressed over Castagnoli’s head and launched into the crowd as we went to picture in picture.

Fenix tried going to the ropes, but Castagnoli gut wrenched him out of the corner to the mat. Castagnoli ducked a bounce back kick, but ate the follow through thrust kick and roll through stunner. Fenix hit a double jump moonsault out of the corner to the floor, as back inside, Castagnoli caught a flying Fenix with an uppercut. Fenix answered by countering a Ricola Bomb into a Code Red. Another thrust kick flattened Castagnoli, who responded with a Alpamare Waterslide and Ricola Bomb for the victory

-Backstage we see a returning Miro walking and stopped by Renee Paquette, who asked why he is here. Miro just stared at her before walking into Tony Khan’s office.

-A video package on the Four Pillars AEW Title match at Double or Nothing is shown with MJF talking about how he’ll have the most longevity out of all of the pillars, as his reign of terror has just begun.

**********

-A video package highlighting the history of the Jon Moxley & Kenny Omega feud is briefly recapped ahead of their Cage Match main event tonight.

FTR came to the ring and immediately invited out their best friend Mark Briscoe, but instead got Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh. Dutt demand an answer to their Double or Nothing challenge from last week. Harwood accepts the challenge if they admit to using Mark Briscoe to get to them. Dutt denied things, as Mark Briscoe walked out from the back to a huge reaction, telling everyone to relax. Briscoe said Tony Khan gave him some news and that’s Briscoe is the special guest referee for the Tag Title match at Double or Nothing. Briscoe passed out cups to have a toast, but Dutt misted tequila into the eyes of Harwood. Briscoe tried to keep the peace when a blinded Harwood grabbed Briscoe and hit a piledriver. Lethal & company bailed as FTR attended to Briscoe.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Chris Jericho, as she asks how he’s doing after Adam Cole got the best of him last week. Jericho said Cole created an unsafe work environment and has a court order saying if Jericho is in the arena, Cole is banned. Roderick Strong walked in and called Jericho delusional. Strong challenges Jericho to a Falls Count Anywhere fight, which Jericho accepts for next week. Jericho tells him to be careful what he wishes for, since he has an army. Strong handed Jericho a document saying the J.A.S. are also banned from the arena next week.

-Excalibur talks about Miro showing up earlier and going into Tony Khan’s office, as they throw it right back to Renee Paquette waiting for answers outside his office when Thunder Rosa shows up. Rosa says tonight’s the night to get answers and goes into Khan’s office as well.

**********

-A video package on Sammy Guevara is shown saying he’s one of the pillars that shouldn’t have been. Chris Jericho said he brought in Guevara not to be a sidekick, but to be a star. Tay Conti mentioned the main event is where he belongs, being born to do this. Guevara said to any kid out there who has a dream, it could come true. This absolutely came off as if Guevara was a babyface.

-Tony Khan is backstage saying how tonight is one of the strongest Dynamite cards they’ve had, but even with that, there are still so many talented wrestlers backstage that can provide content. Khan said next week there will be a huge announcement and I think it’s safe to assume that’s most likely the talk of AEW Collision on Saturday’s.

Orange Cassidy defeated Daniel Garcia to retain the International Title

(Another excellent title defense for Orange Cassidy, who continues surviving, as this week Garcia picked apart the hand, back and leg. It wasn’t enough, as Cassidy was able to get another win under his belt. You could tell that eventually Cassidy’s luck will run out, just a matter of when and against whom.)

Cassidy caught Garcia off guard to begin with mat wrestling, as Garcia countered and did a little dance for the crowd. After a back and forth, Garcia tried a drop toe hold, but Cassidy blocked and strutted away before delivering his signature pocket offense. Garcia gained control by targeting the documented injured hand of Cassidy. Garcia launched Cassidy to the corner and to the floor with a back suplex on the edge of the ring as well as the barricade. Garcia zoned in on the back during picture in picture, even mocking the pocket pose and flipping the crowd off.

Cassidy blocked a superplex initially, but Garcia hit at the bad hand, connected with the move, rolled through, only for Cassidy to deliver a Stundog Millionaire. Garcia responded with a dragon screw, but Cassidy avoided a Sharpshooter and we got a slugfest, with Cassidy resorting to forearms. Garcia trapped Cassidy’s hands in his pockets and tried a piledriver, only for Cassidy to get a Beach Break variation for two. Garcia avoided Orange Punch with a low dropkick, as little kicks from Garcia mocked Cassidy, who followed with a snap piledriver. Cassidy fired off a strike and another Beach Break, but Garcia kicked out and locked in the Dragon Tamer. Cassidy almost got a fish hook to escape, but Garcia transitioned into a Crossface, stomping on the bad hand repeatedly. Garcia went to reposition, but ended up trading pin attempts with Cassidy, who got the crucifix for the flash pin.

-A video package of the returning Hikaru Shida is shown from last week. The Outcasts mock how Shida is back in Japan this week, as they issue the 6 woman tag for next week, which Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter accept.

Christian Cage addresses Wardlow and the TNT Title

Christian Cage came to the ring with Luchasaurus, as Tony Schiavone talks to him about challenging Wardlow last week. Cage quickly insults the crowd and that got him booed mercilessly as he calls himself the number one contender for the TNT Title. Cage asks why there are so many daddy issues in AEW? Cage talked about Wardlow’s father, but said he wasn’t famous, so he’s not wasting his breath. Cage said Wardlow found a father figure in Arn Anderson, who was looking for a son himself. That line didn’t get nearly the amount of heat as it should’ve since Cage was already being booed loudly. Cage said he was talking about Brock Anderson, who Arn threw to the side for Wardlow and take all the credit. Cage called him the sidekick to Ric Flair and said Tully Blanchard did all the work in their team. The crowd is so loud that you can barely hear Cage run down Wardlow and how he’s going to take the TNT Title next week.

-We go to a video package on Darby Allin, who is at his house training by skateboarding and riding an ATV, since he said his wrestling style is reckless. Allin said to be World Champion in AEW means he could give back to what wrestling has given him. We hear from Sting saying Allin got into wrestling similar to why he did. Allin said he’s going to Double or Nothing to become AEW World Champion.

Julia Hart defeated Anna Jay in a No Holds Barred Match

(I have to give huge credit to both of these ladies, who beat the absolute crap out of each other during this entire match. This was a fun weapons filled battle, as Julia Hart gets easily the biggest win in her career up to this point.)

During Hart’s entrance, Jay ran out and clocked her in the back with a chair. Hart quickly turned the tables on the floor and sent Jay into the barricade repeatedly. After a few kendo stick shots by Hart, Jay was able to battle back with a snap suplex on the floor. Hart posted Jay before she was able to use the kendo stick herself. Hart smacked Jay’s face repeatedly on the ring attendant table, controlling most of the action during commercial.

Each woman tried setting up weapons, but had it backfire, as Jay was rammed into a corner chair, while Hart slammed face first into a stack of chairs outside. Jay placed a trash can over Hart in the corner and sandwiched her. Hart was down for a while as Jay piled up a bunch of chairs in the ring. Hart spun out of a brainbuster, fought to the corner and hit a superplex, which luckily Jay missed almost entirely. Hart sank in Hartless while in the chairs and got Jay to submit.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Best Friends, Bandido and an injured Orange Cassidy who said he thinks there’s room for three more titles in his backpack. Paquette asked what their stipulation is for this House Rules match, which caught Best Friends off guard, so Trent just said no spooky witches ringside, referring to Julia Hart, who I assume after that weapons match, wasn’t going to be out there anyway. Best Friends & Bandido walked out to the ring, as Cassidy said he’s exhausted, as Paquette agreed she was as well. I don’t blame her; it feels like she’s done about 14 different backstage segments so far tonight.

The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews) defeated Best Amigos (Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta & Bandido) in an Open House Match to defend the AEW Trios Titles

(I liked the little things that went into making this match feel different. The rules might need a little work, as I’m not sure “No Spooky Witches” is a very good stipulation for your first Open House Match, but it’s Best Friends, so I get it. Over time they’ll work that out, as I enjoyed how this was shot and it was action packed for the time it went.)

There are lights flickering on the entrance tron, as the crowd is dimly lit, with a spotlight in the ring at the request of the House of Black. Bandido & Black had a nice back and forth strike exchange to start until Black sank in a leg lock. Bandido tried a rope break, but there are no rope breaks in House Rules matches. Bandido rolled to the floor, as Beretta & Taylor momentarily took control of Black, who tagged King, as he steamrolled everyone into commercial.

Beretta was able to battle back with a nice Tornado DDT and thrust kick on Matthews for two. Orange Cassidy is shown watching backstage, as Beretta avoided a Curb Stomp and hit a double stomp counter. Bandido made the hot tag with a Tornillo onto Matthews and Crucifix Bomber on King. Bandido wiped out both Matthews & King on the floor with a dive, as back inside, Bandido tried another springboard on Matthews, who flattened him in mid air with a V-Trigger. Taylor made the tag, dropped Matthews with Sole Food, but King made the tag as both he & Matthews flattened Taylor with Dante’s Inferno to retain the titles.

Backstage we see Orange Cassidy laid out at the feet of someone, who is revealed to be Aussie Open’s Kyle Fletcher, who is safe to assume is next in line for the International Title.

-The fourth Pillar highlight video is shown tonight showcasing Jungle Boy Jack Perry who said he’s living out the dream he’s had as a kid. Christian Cage said if Perry can get his head out of his own ass, he can win the AEW Title, as there was a reason he aligned himself with that Pillar of AEW. Perry said MJF wrestles four times a year, while Perry is devoted to becoming the best wrestler in the world by putting time in the ring. Perry said Double or Nothing will be spectacular. These video packages on the competitors of the Pillars Four Way were very well done tonight.

Jon Moxley defeated Kenny Omega (w/Don Callis) in a Steel Cage Match

(This was another incredibly violent chapter in one of AEW’s longest rivalries, with the finish being a huge turn. When Omega said last week in his promo with Callis that everything would come to an end, I think Callis knew that to be true, just not how Omega would’ve liked.)

Omega & Moxley brawled on the stage to start as Bryan Danielson has joined commentary for this main event. Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta attacked Omega ringside, but The Young Bucks ran out and fought off both BCC members with Nick Jackson doing a sprinting dive off the stage onto Yuta & Castagnoli. Omega & Moxley entered the cage and it officially began with a slugfest. Omega won that battle and hit You Can’t Escape for two. Omega dug under the ring and pulled out a barbed wire wrapped steel chair, chucking it at Moxley. Omega draped the chair on the back and connected with a gnarly double stomp. Jon Moxley is bleeding for those keeping score, as he drove Omega into the camera man and gave a kiss to the camera.

Moxley launched Omega spine first into the cage and got his revenge with a barbed wire chair shot to the back, as Danielson smiled from the broadcast table. Omega responded with a Kotaro Crusher and bodyslam onto the chair. Moxley delivered an answer of his own, with a superplex to Omega on the chair. Moxley unscrewed a corner turnbuckle and used the steel to wrench at the mouth of Omega. You can safely assume what the crowd chanted at Moxley for that one. Moxley choked away with the turnbuckle rope.

Moxley grabbed a bag of broken glass and took too much time to spread it out, as Omega hit a neckbreaker. Omega tried One Winged Angel on the glass, but Moxley locked in a rear naked choke. Omega took a few steps forward and fell back, driving Moxley onto the glass. Moxley rose from the dead and sank the choke in again, even with glass in his back. Omega rolled through a Gotch Style Piledriver attempt into a charging knee for the double down as the crowd is on fire. Both men rose to their feet with another striking battle until Omega hit multiple pumping knees into a Snap Dragon. Omega charged and hit a V-Trigger on Moxley so hard that both men went through the cage, as Moxley landed outside with Omega’s leg trapped between the ring & cage in an insane looking moment.

Moxley recovered first and grabbed a screwdriver ringside, as he stalked down Omega with it, but Don Callis made the save, grabbing the screwdriver from Moxley. Omega hit a One Winged Angel, but as the three was about to be counted, Callis attacked Omega with the screwdriver to the shock of the crowd. Moxley draped an arm over Omega and won the match. Callis had a smile on his face, with Excalibur saying Callis treated Omega like a son. Danielson said he had no idea this was going to happen, as Omega slowly got to his knees, Callis was going to give one final shot with the screwdriver, but thought otherwise, whispered something to Omega, kissed him on the cheek and threw him down. The show ended with Callis walking off, Moxley standing tall and Omega left bleeding.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as Orange Cassidy & Bandido make their entrance with matching sunglasses.

Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Bandido & AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy defeated Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker

(A pretty entertaining opener, filled with brawling as the main story coming from this was the interaction with Cassidy & Garcia, who I could see being next in line for the International Title. Aside from brawling, we didn’t get a whole lot of Cole in this match aside from the finish, but the post match was really his motive tonight. Strong meanwhile, looked good in his debut, getting a loud ovation during his hot tag.)

The Jericho Appreciation Society hesitated in getting in the ring, waiting for Chris Jericho to make a separate entrance, wearing a shirt with Britt Baker on it with a black eye. Jericho joined commentary and said Baker & Cole both got what they deserved as Strong started with violent chops on Garcia before Cole took over. Garcia quickly escaped and tagged in Parker, who fell victim to a Bandido snap powerslam. A huge eight man brawl broke out around ringside with Hager controlling Cassidy in the ring. Cassidy connected with a DDT, but was caught by Hager on a dive and posted. Bandido took out Hager on a dive of his own as the he went back inside taking turns trying to stalling vertical suplex both Menard & Parker.

During picture in picture, Cassidy outsmarted Parker & Menard with his hands in his pockets until Garcia blindsided as the J.A.S. took control throughout break. Finally Cassidy hit a Stundog Millionaire on Menard before Strong made the hot tag, dishing out backbreakers and chops. Angle slam on Hager connected for two, as Strong avoided Menard & Parker’s finish, tagged Cassidy back in, who was locked in a Garcia Sharpshooter quick. Cole clocked Garcia flush, as the match broke down with high impact moves with Garcia kicking out of the Beach Break by Cassidy. Blind tags were made to Parker & Strong, as Cassidy & Bandido hit double dives on Garcia & Hager. Strong popped Parker with a jumping knee, as Cole lowered The Boom for the win. Cole sprinted up the ramp and tackled Jericho through the set in the announcer area and was escorted away by security.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Jack Perry & Darby Allin to talk about the main event tag team match with Double or Nothing AEW Title picture implications. Perry said he & Allin may night like each other, but they’ve busted their asses to get to this moment. Allin said he doesn’t care how they get there, but they will get to their first AEW PPV main event, tonight is showtime.

**********

-Backstage security is escorting Adam Cole from the arena with Jericho barking orders to get him out. Britt Baker showed up and slapped the taste out of Jericho, knocking him down until she was taken away by security as well.

-The Blackpool Combat Club is in the back where Bryan Danielson said he’s better than any wrestler in the world today, unless it’s one of the men that stand by him. Danielson hopes Wheeler Yuta is better than him someday, as the BCC is about bringing out the best professional wrestlers possible, unlike The Elite. Moxley said they are just blades, searching for pieces of iron to sharpen each other. The Elite should thank them, as high levels equal bigger devils. Moxley brings up his Steel Cage match with Kenny Omega next week and said their feud in 2019 might as well been a decade ago, since this is a new Jon Moxley, who will leave one hell of a mark on Omega.

Saraya (w/Ruby Soho & Toni Storm) defeated Willow Nightingale

(The numbers yet again helped out The Outcasts in winning another match, but the post match they finally got what was coming to them. Hayter & Baker have finally found their backup in a returning AEW Women’s Champion.)

Saraya suckered Nightingale into a chase outside to gain the advantage early, but Nightingale avoided that and showed off her athleticism with a dropkick off the second rope. Soho took the ref, as Storm grabbed Nightingale’s boot to allow Saraya to connect with a running boot to take control. Soho & Storm got in their shots as Saraya took the ref this time as this happened multiple times during commercial.

Nightingale was able to battle back with a massive spinebuster, but Saraya responded with the Knight Cap for a near fall. The crowd was loudly behind Nightingale, as she hit a DVD, but Storm took the ref. Soho was brought in the ring and Pounced clear to the floor, as Storm ate a shot of her own. Saraya attacked and hit her Fisherman’s Buster called Good Knight for the win.

Post match, The Outcasts beat down Nightingale until Hikaru Shida made her return with a kendo stick. Shida hesitated, smirked and hugged The Outcasts as she grabbed the spray paint and was about to tag Nightingale until Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker appeared from behind The Outcasts. Shida smirked and it was all a ruse, as Saraya was spray painted in the face and clocked with the kendo stick. The Outcasts were all laid out and Shida sprayed AEW on all of three.

-The House of Black is in the back and said the Trios Titles were tainted, so they introduced the Open House. Any three competitors can team up for a title shot, but under House Rules. 20 second count outs, No Rope Breaks and DQ’s will be enforced. Julia Hart welcomed us all to the Open House.

**********

The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn won the Tres De Mayo Trios Battle Royale last eliminating The Butcher, The Blade & Kip Sabian

(This was a fine battle royale, but I’m not entirely sure what the point of this match was. They didn’t officially say it, but the vignette from the House of Black prior to this match has to make you think The Acclaimed & Gunn are getting a Trios Tag Title shot soon.)

The other teams involved included The Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) and Vikingo, Kip Sabian and The Butcher & The Blade, The Varsity Athletes & Ari Daivari, QTV (Powerhouse Hobbs, QT Marshall & Aaron Solo), The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn, and The Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds & John Silver).

QTV attacked The Acclaimed before Bowens got in his go home line, as that’s how the match began. Daivari was quickly dispatched by Evil Uno, who in turn was dumped by the QTV crew. Fenix rope walked and punted Nese off the apron to the floor, as Vikingo eliminated Woods with a hurricanrana. A corkscrew kick by Solo led to Marshall eliminating Reynolds, but QTV team celebrated as both Marshall & Solo were dumped. Hobbs charged and eliminated both Lucha Brothers. Vikingo tried a springboard cross body on Hobbs, who caught him and press slammed him over the top to the floor. Hobbs posed too much and was eliminated himself by The Acclaimed. While The Acclaimed celebrated, Caster was eliminated by The Butcher.

It was down to Silver, The Butcher, The Blade, Sabian, Gunn & Bowens, as Silver ran wild on Butcher & Blade momentarily until the numbers were too much and he was eliminated. It was down to three on two until Bowens launched Blade to the floor to even the sides. Bowens ran wild until he was thrown over the top and held on literally by one hand. Stereo Fame-Assers by Gunn & Bowens led to a double elimination of Butcher & Sabian to win it for The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Sammy Guevara, who didn’t say anything before MJF interrupted. Guevara said he saw the footage from last week and MJF bailed on him. MJF started fake crying, cited his bad back and needed room. Guevara smooched him on the forehead and said he should’ve never doubted MJF. They both hug, knowing full well each other is full of crap.

**********

-Kenny Omega & Don Callis are backstage talking about Jon Moxley’s plan next week in the Steel Cage. Callis had the camera zoomed in on his stitches and said he has to look at that every day because of what Moxley did to him. Every day Callis remembers that Moxley could have the hardest hands in wrestling, but with Callis’ brain and Omega’s talent, Moxley will find out it’ll all come to an end. Omega said Moxley might make them both bleed in the cage, but everything comes to an end in Detroit next week. Moxley made it personal from what he did to The Bucks, Takeshita & Callis.

TNT Champion Wardlow (w/Arn Anderson) defeated Logan Laroux

A press slam, roundhouse lariat and powerbomb symphony brought Wardlow another quick win. To the credit of Laroux, at least he got his name introduced, unlike Wardlow’s opponent last week. Post match, Wardlow called out Christian Cage & Luchasaurus for an Open Challenge. Cage came out, ran down the crowd and said it wasn’t happening in Baltimore. Cage said the title shot doesn’t belong to Luchasaurus, it belongs to Cage himself. This caught Wardlow & Anderson a little by surprise as Cage went to the back.

**********

-Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Jeff Jarrett & Satnam Singh all made a visit to Mark Briscoe’s house in Sandy Fork, Delaware to help on the farm as a sign of good faith. Jarrett was about to serenade everyone with a rendition of With My Baby, Tonight when Papa Briscoe walked up. Papa tried to talk some sense to Mark as Lethal and crew were dancing with Mark’s baby in the yard. Lethal & Jarrett issued a challenge to FTR for a Tag Team title shot at Double or Nothing and asks Briscoe the strategy to beat them. Before Briscoe could answer the video ended. This was pretty great stuff, with Dutt & Singh in matching overalls a sight to see.

Ricky Starks defeated Juice Robinson

(It might have taken him a few more weeks than he thought it would, but Starks got his victory finally over Robinson. The road seems to be headed for White & Starks at Double or Nothing, in what should be a great match.)

Switchblade Jay White walked out with Robinson, but walked to the back, as Starks knew something was fishy. Excalibur told us Shawn Spears wasn’t there tonight, so Starks has no backup as Starks clotheslined Robinson to the floor and sent him into the barricade to start things. The fight continued on the floor with Robinson launching Starks into the ring steps. Robinson set up the steps, but Starks avoided, posted Robinson, walked up the steps and bodyslammed Robinson to the floor. Right as they went to picture in picture, Robinson again posted Starks to regain control.

Starks mounted a comeback by starching Robinson with a spinning DDT for a near fall. Robinson got his knees up to avoid a Starks Frog Splash, as Robinson followed up with a Cannonball, hurricanrana out of the corner and stiff lariat for a close two of his own. Starks avoided Juice Is Loose, but Robinson chopped him in the throat. Starks dodged a scissor kick, connected with a Spear and Roshambo to win it. Jay White blindsided Starks immediately after the bell, tried Blade Runner, but Starks spun out, tried Roshambo, but Robinson saved White.

-A history of The Firm and Matt Hardy & Private Party is shown ahead of The Firm Deletion this week on Rampage.

-Darby Allin & Jack Perry are hyping each other up before the main event, as Allin walked off, but MJF entered the room. He told Perry if he betrays Allin tonight, MJF will offer him a spot next to the throne, since he’s not World Champion material. Perry said he doesn’t want to be next to the throne, he wants the crown. Allin walked back in as MJF left as Allin asked what that was all about. Perry told him not to worry, tried a fist bump, but Allin refused, not believing him. MJF successfully planted the seeds of doubt at the last possible moment.

**********

Jack Perry & Darby Allin defeated AEW World Champion MJF & Sammy Guevara in a “Four Pillars” Tag Match

(The AEW World Title Match at Double or Nothing is officially made into a Pillars Four Way, as MJF’s plan blew up in his face big time here tonight. The dislike & distrust of Allin & Perry didn’t cost them in this action packed main event. The four way should be excellent at the PPV.)

I got a kick out of MJF & Guevara doing Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who starts, which MJF lost, yet still made Guevara start against Perry, who did a springboard corner arm drag to send Guevara scurrying to MJF. Both Allin & MJF made the tag as this was MJF’s first official action since the Iron Man match at Revolution. Allin nearly pinned MJF, who regrouped outside with Guevara. After a near miscommunication by Guevara & MJF, it was Allin & Perry who hit a double shoulder block on MJF. Guevara got a cheap shot to allow MJF to blindside Allin and gain control. After multiple times using the scarf, it was Allin who turned the tables and choked away on both Guevara & MJF. Allin nearly made the tag to Perry, who was pulled from the apron by MJF and sent into the barricade.

It was all MJF & Guevara during break, until referee Bryce caught the assist during an abdominal stretch, kicked the hands free and Allin made the hot tag to Perry, who cleaned house. Perry clocked both men with a bounce back lariat, Topes on both ends of the ring multiple times and finally a somersault plancha. Perry got winded, but Allin was there to pick up where he left off with a springing dive on Guevara. Perry connected with a Tiger Driver on Guevara, as MJF cut him off in the ropes long enough for Guevara Spanish Fly for two. MJF tried to launch Guevara off the top onto Perry, but missed, as Allin hit a snazzy combo leading to a Code Red on Guevara. He tried another on MJF, who countered into a perfect sitout powerbomb.

MJF didn’t see the Perry blind tag, as he locked in the Snare Trap, as Guevara broke it up. MJF & Guevara started an American Males clap before signaling for double dives, which MJF bailed on doing, with Guevara launching to the floor. Perry was sent back inside and spiked by an MJF DDT for two. Guevara & MJF both tried blind tags to steal the pin from one another before they started arguing and MJF slapped Guevara, who answered with a kick to the face. Perry clocked Guevara with a forearm to the neck, but Allin blind tagged himself in, hit a Coffin Drop that nearly took out Perry in the process, but got the pin. The show ended with the graphic for Double or Nothing shown with MJF furious.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as we get right to our first title match of the evening.

Orange Cassidy defeated Bandido to retain the AEW International Title

(This was a fantastic twentieth title defense for Cassidy, as Bandido proved to be one of the toughest tests to date. At one point, Bandido countered the Mouse Trap, something commentary said hadn’t been done before, which could be due to the training Bandido did with Skayde. I was really thinking we’d get a title change here, but it wasn’t meant to be, as Cassidy’s incredibly entertaining title reign continues.)

With how often Cassidy has been defending his International Title, commentary talked about how Cassidy might be burning the candle at both ends. We got some Cassidy lucha to start, which consisted solely of a half hearted cartwheel, as that led to a fast stalemate before Cassidy holstered the finger guns of Bandido. Mind games by Cassidy continued, as he faked a dive, but opted to pose. Cassidy fired off a series of moves with his hands in his pockets, but Bandido caught a dive and dropped Cassidy on the barricade. Bandido connected with a spinebuster and Stretch Muffler until Cassidy got free, was sent to the floor and wiped out by a Bandido tope.

Bandido controlled the action during commercial until Cassidy countered a delayed vertical suplex into Stundog Millionaire. Cassidy tried his little chops, which led to driving Bandido repeatedly into the corner buckle. Cassidy hit a top rope cross body and Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Cassidy connected on a dive, but was cut off in the ropes to follow up. Bandido delivered an impressive one arm suplex from the apron back into the ring, as he dropped Cassidy with a pop up cutter for two. Cassidy avoided X Marks the Spot, tried a cross body off the top, was caught and pressed in the air one handed by Bandido, who followed up with a Frog Splash for a close two. Bandido countered the Mouse Trap, but Cassidy responded with a counter to the pop up cutter with an Orange Punch in mid air. Beach Break followed and Cassidy got the victory. Post match, Bandido handed the International Title to Cassidy, who put his sunglasses on the challenger and posed for the crowd.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Adam Cole, who said tonight he will call out Chris Jericho and if Jericho doesn’t come out, he’ll find him. Orange Cassidy & Bandido walked in and asked what Paquette was talking about, she told him and they both said “oh” and walked off.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Darby Allin and Jungle Boy Jack Perry, as Allin asks to squash whatever bad blood is between them. Allin said if he had known MJF would get involved last week, he would’ve been ringside and not in the rafters. Allin said MJF will probably do it again tonight, so asks if Perry would have his back. Perry said it would’ve been nice if it was him & Allin, who said he would’ve beaten Perry again. Both men smirked and shook hands, as Allin went to prepare for his Pillar Tournament Final.

Jeff Jarrett defeated Dax Harwood

(I really enjoyed this match, as it was filled with counters and back and forth action. It wouldn’t be a Jarrett match without some sort of wonky interference to end things. Jarrett & Lethal definitely seem to be future challengers for FTR’s Tag Team titles.)

Multiple officials came out during Jarrett’s entrance and escorted Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh to the back, as this is a one on one contest. A great opening sequence of chain wrestling led to Harwood cutting Jarrett off the first two tries of the Fargo Strut, but the third was successful. Jarrett connected with nice right hands, but whenever he’d turn his back to Harwood, he’d eat a stiff chop in return. Jarrett fought out of a superplex attempt and sent Harwood into the buckle chest first like he was Bret Hart. Jarrett dropped a leg on Harwood in the ropes to lead to another Fargo Strut.

Both men traded jabs until Jarrett tried the Figure Four, while Harwood tried a Sharpshooter. Both fought free and Harwood connected with a top rope headbutt for two. A nice series of counters led to Harwood driving Jarrett with a piledriver for another near fall. Jarrett bailed outside, but Harwood battled him around ringside. Jarrett avoided a top rope dropkick, as he catapulted Harwood into the corner. Harwood countered a Figure Four into an inside cradle for the closest two of the contest. Harwood tried to suplex Jarrett inside from the apron, but Sonjay Dutt appeared, hooked the leg, but Harwood kicked out. The chase was on, as Harwood ran after Dutt, but ran right into The Stroke by Jarrett, who stole the pin. Dutt handed Jarrett an AEW Tag Team Title, who celebrated with it.

-Tony Khan is backstage who announced the Owen Hart Cup Opening Ceremonies will take place at Double or Nothing. The tournament will take place in Canada, also at Forbidden Door, with the finals taking place in Hart’s hometown of Calgary on July 15th.

Wardlow (w/Arn Anderson) defeated his opponent

One headbutt, roundhouse lariat and powerbomb symphony won it for Wardlow. This happened so quickly, not even Excalibur, who knows everyone, told us his opponent’s name. Post match, Anderson told the fallen opponent to take an ice bath and drink a twelve pack. Anderson said with the NFL Draft happening tomorrow, that’s where draft picks become dynasties and that’s what Wardlow is for AEW, a future dynasty. Anderson said Wardlow is going to have to fight dirty occasionally, but was then interrupted by Christian Cage, who walked out with Luchasaurus. Cage acted like he was going to get in the ring, but backed down with Wardlow & Luchasaurus locking eyes similar to last week.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Sammy Guevara, as she is immediately interrupted by MJF. Both Guevara & MJF kissed each other’s foreheads, laughed saying they don’t care what people think about them joining forces. Guevara said he has a fat paycheck and presented MJF with a matching leather vest, while MJF gave Guevara a Burberry scarf. They hugged again as “best friends” as the Pillar Tournament Final is next.

**********

-RJ City was backstage to tell us about how tonight Kenny Omega is teaming with Konosuke Takeshita for the first time when he was attacked by the Blackpool Combat Club. Jon Moxley said tonight they have some scars to leave. Taz was over the moon that poor RJ was beat up.

Sammy Guevara defeated Darby Allin via disqualification to win the Four Pillars Tournament Final

(This was the action packed battle you’d expect from these two. They played into the story of MJF helping steal another win for Guevara well while also continuing the story of bad blood between Allin & Perry from earlier in the night. The stage is set for next week where we find out if Double or Nothing will be a singles match or four way.)

MJF joined commentary with a big jar of Kaylin & Kaylin pickles he was chomping on, that became a theme, as he was promoting the hell out of them. The story in the early going was Allin attempting to ground Guevara and prevent the high flying. Guevara did connect with a dropkick and kip up, as a rope break off a Scorpion Death Lock allowed Guevara to hit a pump knee sending Allin outside. Allin wanted a German suplex off the apron, but Guevara took the ref, mule kicked Allin low and connected with a massive moonsault to the floor. Allin was busted open over his eyebrow in the process.

Guevara hit a huge Frog Splash and wanted Three Amigos, but Allin countered on the third suplex into a Scorpion Death Drop. Allin tried a dive to the floor, but Guevara countered with a cutter in mid air. Guevara set up a table ringside, but Allin battled back with chops, setting Guevara up on the table. Tay Melo ran out from the back to distract Allin, who was on the top rope, allowing Guevara to hit a Spanish Fly for two. With Allin now on the table, Guevara hit a spectacular 630 senton off the top to the floor. Allin narrowly beat the count, as a furious MJF marched to the ring. Guevara missed a splash and ate an Allin shotgun dropkick. Melo again took the ref, as MJF tossed Allin’s skateboard to him, as Guevara flopped. Referee Paul Turner saw Allin with the weapon and disqualified him. MJF & Guevara celebrated with the title match graphic for Double or Nothing shown on the screen.

Tony Schiavone said that Tony Khan was talking to him in his headset, as Jungle Boy Jack Perry ran to the ring with a chair to chase off MJF & Guevara. Perry went to help Allin, who yelled at Perry for not being there in the match. MJF ran down both men until Schiavone got on the mic, called MJF a prick and said Tony Khan made it official that Guevara won tonight. However, next week on Dynamite, there will be a tag team match with MJF & Guevara vs. Perry & Allin. If MJF & Guevara win, it will remain a singles match with them at Double or Nothing. If Perry & Allin win, it will be a Pillars Four Way for the AEW Title.

**********

-Renee Paquette tried to get a word with MJF & Sammy Guevara, who were screaming at the injustice from Tony Khan during his AEW World Title reign. MJF was about to get into an awaiting car, as Guevara tried to join, but MJF said it was all full and drove off despite having more than enough space for his “best friend”.

Adam Cole addresses Chris Jericho

Cole demanded Jericho come out from the back, as he said what they did to Britt Baker last week was unforgiveable. Cole was about to go find Jericho, who appeared on the big screen. Jericho said he doesn’t want to be anywhere near a coward like Cole, so he’s sending his guys out to get him. Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Jake Hager hit the ring to put a beating on Cole when Orange Cassidy & Bandido ran in to help out. The numbers were still too much, until Killswitch Engage’s “End of Heartache” played and the debuting Roderick Strong ran out from the back to clean house with backbreakers aplenty. The Jericho Appreciation Society bailed, as Strong & Cole hugged with the former Undisputed Era members reuniting in AEW.

-An edition of QTV is shown, as QT Marshall is trying to explain to his crew what happened last week when Powerhouse Hobbs stormed in furious. Hobbs demanded Marshall fix it, as he kept telling Hobbs his word is his bond and they need to go to Plan B.

TBS Champion Jade Cargill (w/Mark Sterling & Leila Grey) defeated Taya Valkyrie to retain the TBS Title

(Well, the stipulation really put Valkyrie at a disadvantage, but the finish made her look ridiculous. For someone who has wrestled as long as Valkyrie, she looked clueless when she realized she couldn’t use her finisher at the end of this match. I have no idea if we are getting a rematch or if Valkyrie is going to be the one to ultimately defeat Cargill, but tonight really didn’t make me want to see that happen unfortunately.)

The stipulation here is if Valkyrie uses her Road to Valhalla finisher, she will be disqualified. Cargill pie faced Valkyrie, who in return slapped the taste out of Cargill, mounting her with strikes. Valkyrie was going to try her finish, but realized she couldn’t and that delay allowed Cargill to take control. Cargill tried to skin the cat, but was booted to the floor. Valkyrie tried a boot on the apron, but her leg was pulled out and she did the splits, as Cargill clobbered her with a forearm.

Cargill was in control the entire break until Valkyrie battled back with a Blue Thunder Bomb for two. Cargill avoided a charging Valkyrie in the corner, set her up in the ropes and connected with a superplex off the top. Cargill followed with an impressive Destroyer for a near fall. Valkyrie avoided Jaded with a double stomp to the midsection, as she again went for Road to Valhalla out of instinct. Valkyrie just let Cargill go and stood there not knowing what to do, which allowed Cargill to get a roll up with the tights for the win. Post match, a frustrated Valkyrie attacked Cargill & company, was pulled off and nearly gave Aubrey Edwards her finisher, but let go.

-Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter are backstage with Hayter wearing a sling and Baker sporting a shiner on her eye. Baker ran down the actions of Saraya & The Outcasts, while Hayter talked about Toni Storm injuring her shoulder and declares war. The only way this will be over is if they send Baker & herself to the morgue.

**********

Kenny Omega & Konosuke Takeshita (w/Don Callis) defeated The Butcher & The Blade (w/Kip Sabian & Penelope Ford)

(An entertaining main event, with Omega & Takeshita clicking very well as a duo and Butcher & Blade great opponents to show that off. Post match was the bigger story here with Danielson trying to persuade Takeshita in joining the BCC. When he refused, the gloves were off and Takeshtia became the next victim on the BCC war path.)

Bryan Danielson joined commentary before the break and called Takeshita ungrateful for everything Danielson had done for him, as he apparently wants to associate with amateurs. Blade really took it to Takeshtia out the gate with strikes until Takeshita starched him with a stiff punch and dropkick. We got fast tags between Takeshita & Omega, who hit You Can’t Escape into a Takeshita senton for two on the Blade. Omega teased a Terminator Dive, but was tripped up by Sabian, as Ford shielded her husband to allow Butcher to wipe out Omega on the floor. Sabian was able to get in a shot, as Butcher & Blade kept Omega isolated during picture in picture.

Omega was able to plant Blade with a Kotaro Crusher, as Takeshita made the hot tag, ran wild, dropping Butcher with a Takeshita-line and multiple Helluva Kicks. Takeshita connected with a brainbuster on the Butcher, but The Blade broke things up to allow a stunner/lariat combination. Butcher & Blade tried to Drag the Lake, as Omega prevented it, leading to Takeshtia dropping Butcher with a Blue Thunder Bomb for two. Takeshita hit a jumping knee on Blade, while Omega followed with a Snap Dragon and dive to the floor onto Sabian & Blade. Takeshita hit the charging knee strike on Butcher to get the victory.

Post match, Bryan Danielson was on the stage saying a professional got the pin, while an amateur looked exhausted. If Takeshita trained with the BCC, he’d be a star, but he chose to side with The Elite, who have guys like Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa. The BCC attacked Omega & Takeshita from behind, as Danielson told them to finish the job on Omega from last week. The Young Bucks ran out from the back and dished out superkicks to all the BCC, as Bryan Danielson was telling Takeshita to get in the ring and save Moxley. Takeshita seemed conflicted and stopped Omega from using the screwdriver on Moxley. The BCC broke things up and tried to stand tall with Takeshita, who refused. Yuta hit a low blow and Danielson said he made his choice, so Moxley charged and used the screwdriver on Takeshita to end the show, leaving him bleeding.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as the music for Jungle Boy Jack Perry hits and he walks out with a microphone in hand.

The Pillars of AEW Face Off

(The crowd wasn’t as hot for this face off as you’d expect, but I liked that each one of the pillars got another chance to make their case on why they should become the next challenger. We ultimately have our answer in how this will be settled, which starts tonight.)

Before Perry could get a sentence out, Sammy Guevara’s music interrupted, but before Guevara could talk, Darby Allin made his entrance as well. Allin said he’s known Guevara the longest, likes him the most, but is the least qualified to challenge for the World Title since he’s a follower. While Allin & Sting view each other as equals, Guevara is a follower to Chris Jericho, who Allin thinks is holding Guevara back. Allin said Perry had to work the least hardest to get here since he’s part of the California kliq. Allin was jealous of Perry initially, but he realized nothing about Perry intimidated him.

Perry said he saw kids painting their face like Allin, but if they only knew what Allin was really like. Perry said AEW was Allin’s second choice, after failing as a skateboarder. Guevara is relaxing in the corner when Perry called him a dirt bag. Perry respects Guevara for putting his body on the line, but he’s still a scumbag P.O.S.

Guevara said Perry hates MJF, but in reality, he’s just like him. Guevara said he & Allin are two sides of the same coin, risking everything to make it. Allin is an inspiration to him, losing many of his early matches, but winning the first title out of all the pillars, breaking the glass ceiling. Guevara said everything Allin did, Guevara has done it better. It’s now time for Allin to sit back and watch Guevara become World Champion. Perry said to put it on the blogs; he’s the one who will become World Champion.

MJF’s music hit and he ran down Pittsburgh for thinking Britt Baker is talented. MJF said he’s blushing that everyone is talking about little old him. MJF said he talked to Tony Khan and they will have a Pillars Tournament, with the winner facing MJF at Double or Nothing for the AEW Title. MJF had a hat brought out and pulled out Darby Allin’s name saying that Allin gets a bye. That means Perry will face Guevara tonight and the winner faces Allin next week on Dynamite in the Finals.

AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter & Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. defeated Ruby Soho & Toni Storm (w/Saraya)

(An action packed tag match with the hometown Baker shining the most of the four ladies. A story could be told coming out of this with Storm doing a number on Hayter’s shoulder, so that could come into play down the line, as Hayter was helped to the back by doctors.)

Pre-match, Saraya got into it with Baker’s family in the front row, even spray painting Baker’s mother. Soho & Storm attacked during the entrance and pyro for Baker & Hayter, as the ladies brawled ringside. Hayter mowed down both Soho & Storm in the ring to officially start the match, as she ran wild with a double suplex, but was cut off by Saraya, who ran for her life as a result. Hayter avoided a Storm Tornado DDT on the floor and drove her into the barricade. Soho & Storm overtook Hayter as Baker tried a Panama Sunrise off the apron, but ate a kick to put The Outcasts in control during commercial.

Hayter dropped Storm with a DVD onto the knee and made the hot tag to Baker, as the crowd went crazy. Baker cleaned house with a Sling Blade on Storm and hangman’s neckbreaker in the corner on Soho, as Baker took out the glove for Lockjaw, but Storm hit a German Suplex. Baker countered Storm Zero into an Air Raid Crash, but Soho broke it up. Ripcord stereo elbows by Baker & Hayter who dropped Storm with a Hayt-breaker, as Baker nearly got the pin. Storm hit a violent Sweet Cheek Music on Baker, as Saraya clocked her with the title and Storm hit Storm Zero, but Baker kicked out at two.

Storm & Hayter brawled on the floor with Storm zoning in on Hayter’s shoulder to limit a future lariat. Baker laid out Soho with a Panama Sunrise, but only got a near fall. Soho kicked out of a Curb Stomp, but Baker sank in the Lockjaw and got the submission.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Wardlow who said he once had a Horseman in his corner to help him out and give advice. Tonight, he reached out to another Horseman to help him even the playing field since QT Marshall is in Powerhouse Hobbs’ corner, as in walked Arn Anderson. He said Tully Blanchard is a smart guy, who was one of the best checkers players, but tonight, they’re playing chess.

The Elite return to address the Blackpool Combat Club

(An excellent brawl and story told here with the fake out of Callis running off like a coward, only to bring in backup in the form of the man he was trying to recruit not that long ago. This gives The Elite even numbers in their quest to battle the BCC.)

Omega started by saying the BCC were four of the most respected wrestlers, but then they made his friends bleed, sent Don Callis to the hospital and tried to put them on the shelf. Omega called the BCC out quickly and said they need to settle this right now. Bryan Danielson was on the big screen calling them amateurs, as it was nothing but a ruse to get The Elite distracted long enough for Moxley, Castagnoli & Yuta to attack from behind. A wild brawl ensued with Nick Jackson clearing the barricade to attack Castagnoli, while Matt Jackson hit locomotion Northern Lights suplexes on Yuta. Moxley locked in a rear naked choke on Omega, who in turn sent Moxley spilling front row into the lap of Britt Baker’s family.

Yuta cut off Matt’s superkick by cracking him in the injured shoulder with a title belt, while Castagnoli dropped Nick with a powerbomb. Yuta briefly locked on Cattle Mutilation on Matt, as Moxley hit Death Rider on Omega. This brought out Danielson from the back, as the BCC surrounded Omega. Don Callis ran out with a chair from the back, but saw the numbers were against him, so he dropped the chair and ran away.

Danielson said Omega has the most potential of all of The Elite, but if he doesn’t want to reach that potential, then he needs to be gone and pulled out the screwdriver. Callis came running out from the back with Konosuke Takeshita, who sprinted to the ring to fight off the BCC. Omega recovered as he & Takeshita ran everyone off with Callis standing tall, raising the hands of both men. The Young Bucks joined in, as Danielson was furious as Takeshita showing up.

Wardlow (w/Arn Anderson) defeated Powerhouse Hobbs (w/QT Marshall & Harley Cameron) to win the TNT Title

(The two big men really slugged it out in this one, as we not only have a new champion, but what appears to be the next challenger for Wardlow’s third TNT Title reign. I know the TNT Title bounces around quite a bit, but I’m surprised Hobbs reign has already come to an end. The crowd was loudly behind Wardlow during this match.)

There is no Aaron Solo with the QTV crew after being powerbombed off the stage last week. We also saw a clip of Marshall turning on The Nightmare Family two years ago and forming The Factory. Wardlow rushed Hobbs early, but Hobbs quickly turned the tables with multiple belly to belly suplexes. Both men spilled outside and brawled into the crowd where Wardlow tried a powerbomb, but Hobbs avoided and we got more brawling during break until Hobbs took over.

Hobbs wanted a superplex, but Wardlow shoved him off and connected with a senton. A big slugfest ensued with the crowd loudly behind Wardlow, as they traded lariats with Wardlow dropping the champion. After Hobbs ate a roundhouse lariat by Wardlow, Cameron jumped on the apron to run distraction, but Anderson followed. This allowed Marshall to drop Wardlow with a Cutter. Hobbs hit the spinebuster for two, as a furious Marshall jumped in the ring. Anderson followed, pulled out the finger gun, as Marshall bailed up the ramp where he was met with a waiting superkick by Penta El Zero Miedo. Marshall stumbled back into the ring where Anderson planted him with a spinebuster.

Hobbs got a school boy on Wardlow for two, as Wardlow was up first and hit a pop up powerbomb. After a second powerbomb, Wardlow signaled for the symphony and hit a third powerbomb to win the match and TNT Title for the third time. Before Wardlow could celebrate, Christian Cage’s music hit and he walked out with Luchasaurus as we got a stare down between new TNT Champion and who appears to be his first challenger.

-Renee Paquette tried to interview Sammy Guevara before his match with Jungle Boy, but MJF interrupted loudly calling him Gene Simmons on meth with how much he sticks his tongue out. MJF wanted to pay off Guevara to get in the main event of Double or Nothing and take the fall, but Guevara refused. MJF handed over a blank check, turned his back and told Guevara to name his price. Paquette smirked, as MJF is blown away by the price Guevara set, but agrees and wants to shake his hand. Guevara said friends don’t shake hands, they hug.

Jay White (w/Juice Robinson) defeated Komander

(A strong showing for Switchblade’s Dynamite debut, as Komander I thought looked a lot better than his match with Sammy Guevara a few weeks ago. Komander was less reliant on the springboard so much, although he did manage to wow the crowd with a few. Bullet Club Gold seem to have their next match already lined up.)

White faked the good guy act with handshake and sportsmanship early, as he suckered Komander in with a cheap shot. We see a shot of Shawn Spears in the crowd watching, as Komander used his speed to gain control. An insanely amount of springboards led to a somersault hurricanrana that sent White to the outside. Komander signaled for his rope walk, but White cut him off. Komander tried a moonsault to the floor, but White side stepped and drove him into the apron.

White controlled during commercial until he noticed Shawn Spears, which distracted enough for Komander to take control with chops and crazy flipping roll up for two. White popped up quick and turned Komander inside out with a lariat. Komander suckered White into the ropes, knocking him to the floor, as Komander went to the opposite side of the ring and did his breathtaking rope walk dive. Back inside, Komander did a rope walk Shooting Star Press, followed by a springboard Phoenix Splash for another near fall. Komander tried to wrench at the arm of White, who countered into a cutthroat suplex followed by Blade Runner to get the win.

Post match, Robinson dragged Spears over the barricade as he & White started a beat down before Ricky Starks ran to the ring. Robinson was dropped with a Spear, as White bailed with Bullet Club Gold retreating.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with FTR, as she told them Mark Briscoe was being tended to by medical staff after being attacked by The Varsity Athletes. FTR ran into the trainer’s room where Briscoe was with Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Jeff Jarrett & Satnam Singh. Briscoe said he could fight, but the doctor said no, so Briscoe suggested Lethal, Jarrett & FTR do it for him. Everyone not named Mark Briscoe wasn’t a fan of this, but all reluctantly shook hands.

Chris Jericho & Adam Cole Face to Face

Cole said he modeled his style after Jericho and looked up to him, as now they’re both in the same ring together, with Cole saying he has a lot of respect for Jericho. A handshake was offered from Jericho, as the two shook hands, with Jericho said he has absolutely zero respect for Cole, who is an arrogant son of a bitch. Cole is lucky Jericho doesn’t slap him in the face for the disrespect shown last week. Cole called Jericho a jag off and got a chant from the crowd, with Cole calling him hypocritical. Cole said Jericho could be the Demo God, but he views him as an insecure, fickle, stupid idiot. No more games from Cole, as they’re face to face, so questioned now what?

Jericho mentioned the saying to never meet your idols and if Cole was smart, he’d leave the ring. Jericho shoved Cole and a brawl started before Daniel Garcia ran in from behind to put the boots to Cole with Jericho until Britt Baker ran out and slapped Jericho. The Outcasts appeared from under the ring and they all beat down Baker. Garcia handcuffed Cole to the bottom rope, while The Outcasts forced Baker to watch. Jericho was about to hit Cole with a kendo stick, but handed it to Saraya instead, forcing Cole to watch Baker beaten down. Baker pleaded by screaming Cole’s real name, Austin, as Cole begged Jericho & crew to stop. Jericho & Saraya hugged with The Outcasts & J.A.S. members standing tall.

-The Hardys, Isiah Kassidy & HOOK cut a brief video about how Stokely & The Firm should keep their phones on to find out when their match at the Hardy Compound will take place. Jeff said he’ll address the AEW fans for the first time since his return on Rampage this week.

The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) & Billy Gunn defeated Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Jake Hager

(There’s always a match every week to happen almost entirely during commercial and this was that contest. Regardless, am I the only one who didn’t know that if The Acclaimed lost this match they would’ve had to join the J.A.S? I heard this during the match and had no clue.)

Before Bowens could say his go home line, the J.A.S. attacked, but The Acclaimed quickly gained control with Scissor Me Timbers on Parker. We immediately went to picture in picture as Parker, Menard & Hager controlled throughout. Gunn made the hot tag ran wild, trying a Fame Asser on Hager, who countered into a double leg slam. Bowens & Menard made the tag with Parker trying to use what Excalibur called a loaded comb, but hit Hager by mistake. I give credit to Excalibur for saying that with a straight face. Gunn broke the comb, which broke Parker’s heart at the same time, as Bowens hit The Arrival, and Caster connected with The Mic Drop for the win.

**********

Sammy Guevara defeated Jungle Boy Jack Perry by count out

(To say this was an action packed main event would be an understatement, as these two crammed in a Pay Per View amount of action into a ten or twelve minute TV main event with a commercial. The new best friend duo of MJF & Guevara was too much for Perry to overcome. This count out finish keeps Perry in the picture, just not for the moment.)

Both men took turns connecting with dives outside in the early going. Perry went to the top, but waited too long, allowing Guevara to hit a Spanish Fly into a double down as these two are going a mile a minute out the gate. Perry blocked a boot on the apron and flipped Guevara, who landed on his feet. Perry tried an attack in the ropes, but Guevara hit a pump knee and Spanish Fly off the apron to the floor. During commercial, they brawled into the crowd until Guevara gained the upper hand.

MJF is shown backstage applauding “his friend” Guevara, as Perry bounced out of the corner with a comebacker lariat with Darby Allin shown watching from the rafters. Perry planted Guevara with a sunset flip powerbomb on the apron, which was followed by a crazy diving Destroyer off the top. Perry got hung up on the ropes, as Guevara missed a Shooting Star, only to land on his feet and drop Perry with a springboard cutter.

Guevara connected with a gnarly back suplex into an Implant DDT that drove Perry right on his head. Guevara wanted the GTH, but Perry countered into a Poison Rana. Guevara countered a comeback lariat with a Poison Rana of his own, as the momentum landed Perry on his feet and he clobbered Guevara with a forearm to the neck. Both men started a slap and forearm battle on their knees, but Perry picked the leg and sank in the Snare Trap. Guevara got the rope break, but Perry hung him up in the ropes. Guevara got free, charged and dropkicked Perry off the ropes, as he went flying off into the ring attendant table face first.

Perry was about to beat the count when Guevara took the ref and MJF appeared, laying out Perry with his diamond ring. Referee Bryce just started his count up at 9 and ultimately counted Perry out, which was pretty ridiculous not to start from one, but they’re low on time, I get it. MJF celebrated with Guevara on his shoulders to end the show, as Guevara ultimately slowly picked up the AEW Title, handing it to MJF and celebrated more. Allin was shown in the rafters shaking his head.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they go right to the entrances for our opening contest.

Darby Allin defeated Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana & Brian Cage)

(This was an excellent opener with Allin getting a hard fought win, similar to the other pillars in recent weeks in their quest to get the next AEW World Title shot. Strickland and Allin always have great chemistry whenever they fight and this was no different.)

Strickland came out with Prince Nana & Brian Cage after joining Mogul Affiliates with The Embassy last Friday on Rampage. Allin wasted no time with a float over stunner and low tope outside, as Strickland avoided a Coffin Drop, but not a somersault senton to the floor by Allin. Strickland fought back, but as he balanced on the guard rail, Allin knocked him off and hit a charge. Allin tried offense off the steel steps, but got his feet swept from under him, as Strickland pulled the belt off Allin and whipped him with it while Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo were watching backstage. Allin shot a double leg, but Strickland responded with a spin knee to the face for two, busting open Allin’s mouth. Allin fought and bit his way back into it, but ate a thrust kick on the apron and slingshot double stomp to the floor, which Strickland might have tweaked his ankle in the process.

During break, Strickland worked over Allin’s back and ribs, including a torture rack back breaker. Strickland got hung up in the ropes, as Allin took off his boot and bit at Strickland’s foot. Allin hooked a knee bar, but Strickland rolled through and we got a slug fest until Strickland blocked a Coffin splash into a German suplex. Strickland tried a brainbuster, but Allin countered into a Scorpion Death Drop in mid air and went right back to the knee bar, as Jungle Boy Jack Perry was watching backstage as well. Both men fought on the apron where Allin hit an incredible Poison Rana to the floor. Allin hit a Coffin Drop in the ring, but Prince Nana put Strickland’s foot on the rope.

Allin stalked Nana up the ramp until Brian Cage emerged as Allin thought better, went back to the ring and ate a Strickland House Call kick and double stomp off the top for a close two. Cage tripped up Allin long enough for Strickland to attempt to use a chair, but thought better, as the ref was staring right at him. Strickland rolled right in to a Code Red for two, but Allin hooked The Last Supper for the pin. Right as Allin got the pin, MJF’s music hit and the AEW World Champion walked to the stage, microphone in hand, as we went to commercial.

MJF, Darby Allin & Sting Confrontation

(This was an entertaining segment with Allin cutting a really good promo on why he wants to be the one to unseat MJF as champion. The involvement of Sting I really enjoyed too, as it gave Allin the rub, while mentioning how his own career is winding down.)

MJF ran down the crowd, calling them Mid-waukee, as he congratulated Allin on his win without Sting’s help. MJF said their match at Full Gear 2021 was one of the best in AEW history and MJF beat him with a headlock takeover. Allin isn’t on the level of the Devil. Allin asks if MJF is happy, as six years ago they wrestled in front of 30 people and MJF was miserable then and he’s miserable now. Allin said he was miserable, but sought out therapy, it helped him and he used money from AEW to buy his parents a house. Sting isn’t his father; he’s one of his best friends and said this is just MJF’s 15 minutes. Allin got in MJF’s face and said if he has more to say, keep talking, as MJF called him an arrogant little boy. MJF is sick of the morals of Allin, Jungle Boy and Guevara, as morals kill careers in this sport. MJF says Allin thinks he’s a daredevil, when he’s actually a coward, while MJF couldn’t care less if he’s on his death bed alone, as he’s willing to do whatever it takes to leave a legacy. MJF’s legacy will be greatest champion of all time, while Allin’s will be simply Sting’s bitch.

Sting’s music hit and he came to the ring to a huge ovation. Sting said he doesn’t view himself as a daddy day care kind of guy, but more of a cheerleader. Sting took out pom poms from his jacket and talked about Cody Day Care, as Cody was a cheerleader for MJF just like Sting is for Allin, just like Ric Flair was for Sting as he started his career. Sting talked about The Crow, Wolfpack and Joker days and said he doesn’t have a thirst for the World Title anymore, as Showtime is almost over for Sting, but just starting for Allin. Sting told MJF that Darby Allin will become AEW World Champion mark his words. Allin said he’s the one to end MJF’s reign of terror, as MJF spat in his face and bailed.

Powerhouse Hobbs (w/The QTV Crew) defeated Silas Young to retain the TNT Title

(The hometown boy Young got mowed down, as the bigger story was the big return of Wardlow, who made a statement in wiping out one of Hobbs’ crew.)

We saw an insert of Hobbs pulling up to the arena in the car gifted to him by QT Marshall last week. Hobbs mowed down Young with a spinebuster and followed with the Town Bidness for the quick victory. Poor Silas Young never got out of the gate.

Post match, Hobbs & Marshall dragged Young up the ramp until we saw Wardlow walk up to the car in the parking lot. Wardlow smashed the windows, scratched it up, destroying it before turning and looking at a fork lift, which he drove through the window. Wardlow tipped the car completely over, smirked and walked away, as an angered Hobbs was about to powerbomb Young off the ramp through a table when Wardlow ran out and the brawl started. Wrestlers, referees and agents tried to separate them with Aaron Solo piggybacking Wardlow, only to get powerbombed off the stage through tables for his troubles.

-A video package about Bullet Club is shown with Switchblade Jay White & Juice Robinson saying they were the best of the bunch, calling themselves the Bang Bang Gang. Robinson asked Ricky Starks how the Blade Runner felt last week, as White said he’s here to claim what is rightfully his, as this is only the beginning, this is Bullet Club Gold.

Orange Cassidy defeated Buddy Matthews (w/Julia Hart) to retain the AEW International Title

(I thought the story these two told over the course of this match was great. Cassidy was fighting from behind almost immediately with his injured hand, but managed to fight through the pain and retain his title yet again. Commentary really drove home how Cassidy has had to come up with different ways to defend the title.)

Cassidy used the speed early with a tilt a whirl head scissors, but as he tried for a dive, Matthews quickly cut him off. Cassidy put the hands in his pockets, dropkicked Matthews to the floor and hit a dive, but Matthews caught a cross body off the top back inside. Cassidy countered into the Satellite DDT and Orange Punch, but Cassidy’s hand is taped up, so he couldn’t follow up as doctors checked on him. As Cassidy took off the tape of his hand, Matthews stomped on it and took over during commercial.

Matthews blocked a Satellite DDT, but Cassidy fought back by driving Matthews repeatedly into the corner buckles. Both men traded superkicks on the apron, as Matthews again blocked a DDT, this time responding with a pump knee. Matthews wanted a Destroyer, but Cassidy countered into Beach Break on the apron. Both men beat the count at nine and started a forearm battle back in the ring. Matthews went back to the bad hand, but tried to mock the little kicks and opted to knee Cassidy flush in the face. Cassidy fought back with a Stundog Millionaire and Superman forearm. Cassidy tried a superplex, Matthews reversed, but Cassidy countered into a massive avalanche DDT. Cassidy hit a diving DDT on the floor and leaping DDT off the top inside for two.

Cassidy tried the Orange Punch; Matthews hit a pump knee, attempted Murphy’s Law, only for Cassidy to get the Orange Punch for a near fall. Matthews dared Cassidy to punch him, as he suckered Cassidy in with a pump knee, while Cassidy dared Matthews this time. Matthews blocked the Orange Punch with a Curb Stomp for two, tried Murphy’s Law, but Cassidy got the Mouse Trap for the flash pin.

-We see a quick vignette for Christian Cage and Luchasaurus as Cage said some things have changed. Luchasaurus had new gear during this.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Best Friends and Orange Cassidy, as Trent said that Cassidy was fine and will continue to defend the title. Trent said he & Chuck are a little jealous, so they challenge Aussie Open to defend their IWGP Tag Team Titles on Rampage this Friday.

-Ethan Page is in the ring and talked about the rough patches The Firm have been going through in recent weeks. Page demands to know why Matt Hardy hit him with the FTW Title last week and demands to know what Hardy put in the contract. Hardy & Isiah Kassidy came out and said Page should’ve read the fine print. Hardy said he manipulated Page, as the contract said if HOOK beat Page, then Hardy & Private Party are no longer under dominion of The Firm. Hardy said they also get to pick a match and stipulation that if they win, they’ll no longer be in The Firm. Hardy absolutely contradicted himself here, as I have no idea if Hardy & Private Party are actually free from The Firm or whether they have to win a match for it to happen.

Page said there’s more than just Page in The Firm, as Big Bill & Lee Moriarty attacked from behind until HOOK made the save. The numbers were too much, as The Firm put the boots to Hardy, Kassidy & HOOK until Jeff Hardy’s music hit and he sprinted to the ring with a chair. Bill & Page were sent outside; as Moriarty ate a Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb flush as The Hardys hugged to a huge ovation.

-Kenny Omega has comments from his home about the attack from the Blackpool Combat Club in recent weeks. Omega thanks the doctors for helping them out and said he understands why the BCC did what they did; they wanted to make the headlines. Omega said what he takes personal is what they did to Don Callis. While Callis might not be all that likeable, Omega still calls him family. This isn’t blood for blood, whenever Omega sees them next, it’ll be much worse.

**********

Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli (w/Wheeler Yuta) defeated Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa

(Credit to Nakazawa & Cutler, who put up much more of a fight than you’d expect, with the visual of Cutler bleeding through his face mask pretty great. The return of The Elite was the bigger story, as the reign of brutality from the Blackpool Combat Club seem to have hit a speed bump. It should be noted, no Bryan Danielson here tonight with his crew.)

Moxley & Castagnoli blindsided their opponents as Moxley drove a chair into the neck of Cutler, while Nakazawa was driven repeatedly into the apron and bloodied in the process. Rick Knox just started the match as Nakazawa crawled in the ring and threw as many forearms as he could before Castanoli steamrolled him with a clothesline and then the Giant Swing. Castagnoli got the Sharpshooter applied, as a bloodied Cutler rolled in the ring and tried to break it up. Nakazawa backdropped free from a piledriver, as Cutler made as hot of tag as he could before Moxley bit at the face. A King Kong lariat connected followed by Death Rider as Moxley & Castagnoli brutally beat down Nakazawa & Cutler until Rick Knox called for the bell.

Moxley took the mic and said The Elite & Don Callis had glass jaws until Kenny Omega’s music hit and he walked out from the back. With the BCC attention turned, The Young Bucks ran in from behind and we had a huge brawl. The Young Bucks laid out Moxley with the BTE Trigger as Omega slid in a toolbox and was about to clock Moxley until Matt Jackson stopped him and gave Omega a screwdriver. Moxley spit in Matt’s face and dared Omega to do it as Castagnoli pulled him free and the BCC retreated through the crowd.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Swerve Strickland, Brian Cage & Prince Nana who said Darby Allin’s success is a testament to everything Strickland taught him Mogul Embassy isn’t done growing, it’s getting bigger day by day, as they aren’t done yet tonight, there’s some scores to settle.

Toni Storm & Ruby Soho (w/Saraya) defeated Riho & Skye Blue

(This was the match of the week to suffer from picture in picture, as most of this was during break. Blue & Riho put up a good fight, but Soho and especially Storm have been racking up wins lately.)

Soho & Storm attacked at the bell, as Blue fought back with a head scissors and low enzugiri on Storm. Soho & Riho both entered and Soho was quickly sent outside as Riho used Blue for the assisted cross body to the floor. The tide turned during commercial as Soho & Storm kept Riho isolated before Riho countered Destination Unknown into a roll up for two. Blue made the tag and ran wild briefly, but didn’t see the Storm blind tag. Storm missed her hip attack in the ropes, as Blue fought off all three members of The Outcasts while on the apron and hit a top rope cross body back inside on Storm for two.

The match briefly broke down with Riho hitting a cazadora double stomp on Soho, but ate a Storm thrust kick. Riho had Soho in a crucifix, with Blue hitting a thrust kick of her own. Riho was sent outside by Storm, who hit a German Suplex, Sweet Cheek Music and Storm Zero in succession on Blue to get the victory. Post match, Riho continued to fight, but was beaten down by The Outcasts, who spray painted an L on Riho before dropping her with a triple powerbomb.

Jamie Hayter sprinted to the ring a little too late, as she was swarmed, only for Britt Baker to hit the ring and lay out Soho & Storm on the ramp. A slugfest ensued between Baker & Saraya before Baker went for a Curb Stomp, but Saraya was pulled to safety by Storm & Soho.

**********

Chris Jericho (w/Daniel Garcia) defeated Keith Lee

(Aside from a 14 second squash of Serpentico on an episode of Rampage, this was Keith Lee’s first singles match for AEW in almost a year. I wanted to like this match more, but the constant interference from Garcia and the finish took away from it really clicking. The post match was a nice continuation of a few weeks ago with Jericho & Cole starting up their program.)

Jericho tried a shoulder tackle early and it resulted in Lee no selling, kissing Jericho on top of his head. An embarrassed Jericho charged, ate more punches, but avoided the huge double hand chop. It might have worked the first time, but not the second, as Lee hit his chop and charging corner splash. Lee went to the ropes, but Garcia distracted the ref long enough for Jericho to connect with his springboard corner dropkick.

Jericho controlled the action during the entire commercial, getting his revenge with chops of his own and dropkick off the second rope. The Lionsault connected, but Lee launched Jericho off of him during the cover. Lee was tripped up by Garcia long enough to distract him, as Lee & Jericho seemed to be on different pages momentarily before Jericho was Pounced across the ring. Lee took a long time to follow up, tried a moonsault, but Jericho got the knees up. In doing so, Jericho hurt his own knees and was press slammed by Lee for two. Jericho got an eye rake and locked in the Walls of Jericho, but Lee powered out.

Lee clocked Jericho with an overhand chop and beal, but as he tried for the finish, Jericho grabbed referee Aubrey long enough for Garcia to get him free from the hold. Lee dumped in Garcia, who ate a double clothesline with Jericho. Lee powered out of a Code Breaker attempt and countered into a massive powerbomb. Garcia again took the ref for about the fifth time before a masked Swerve Strickland clobbered Lee in the head with an object. Jericho draped an arm over Lee and got the tainted victory.

Post match, Adam Cole’s music hit immediately as he walked down to check on Keith Lee ringside. This is exactly what Jericho did for Garcia a few weeks ago, except this time; Cole gave a side glance at Jericho, who was furious his thunder was stolen to end the show.

Ricky Starks vs. Juice Robinson was a No Contest

(They wasted absolutely no time having Switchblade Jay White appear, as I think it’s pretty darn safe to say he is All Elite. Starks is going to need some back up if he plans on having any chance against White & Robinson.)

Juice Robinson was already in the ring, but right as Starks made his entrance, the music for Switchblade Jay White hit to a huge reaction. White hit the ring to help Robinson put a beating on Starks. White hugged Robinson and connected with the Blade Runner as both men stood tall over Starks and made their way to the back.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Chris Jericho, who talked about Adam Cole’s match and post match celebration last week. It went on and on, as Cole punked out Daniel Garcia and he had to put a stop to the disrespect. Keith Lee stepped into frame and talked about Jericho’s disrespect he’s shown to many in AEW. Lee issued a challenge to Jericho next week in Milwaukee to teach him a thing or two about respect. Jericho just slowly backed away before giving an answer.

The House of Black made their entrance, as they will be defending their AEW Trios Titles after the break against Orange Cassidy & Best Friends.

**********

House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews w/Julia Hart) defeated Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta) & AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy to defend the AEW Trios Titles

(This was a hell of a sprint the second half of this match, as it was an action packed opening contest since our original opener never happened. With this being on Long Island, it’s only fitting that Trent’s mother Sue have a cameo.)

A mini-van drove in backstage, as Trent’s mother Sue was behind the wheel to a loud crowd reaction. Beretta & Black had an early back and forth with a series of reversals until Beretta hit a standing meteora. Taylor & King made the tag, as Taylor was able to avoid a charging senton which allowed Cassidy & Matthews to enter. A lighting fast series of switches led to Matthews blocking the tilt a whirl DDT into a corner lawn dart. The match broke down as everyone spilled outside with King mowing down Taylor, while Cassidy tried a hands in the pocket fall off the top, only to be caught by Black & Matthews and slammed face first on the apron. Beretta suffered the same fate, as he was caught and slammed down as well.

House of Black controlled the entire commercial, as Cassidy hit a top rope cross body on Black. King was sent through the ropes onto his partners, while Cassidy was launched to the floor onto everyone. Back inside, a double choke slam powerbomb got a two count on Black as we saw Rush, Dralistico & Preston Vance sitting ringside watching the match. A huge series of big time moves in succession from both teams until Black & Cassidy had a standoff after missing their Orange Punch and roundhouse kick. Cassidy tried his little kicks, but Black dropped him. Cassidy responded with a Stundog Millionaire, as we see Anna Jay watching backstage, keeping an eye on Julia Hart.

Beretta connected with a perfect piledriver on Matthews & Black, but when it came to King, couldn’t get him up initially. It took a Taylor pump knee and Cassidy Orange Punch as Beretta hit the piledriver on King for a close near fall. Taylor & Matthews both countered each other’s Sole Food and Murphy’s Law until Matthews connected with a Curb Stomp to get the victory.

-Excalibur throws it to a video of Christian Cage, who we haven’t seen since Revolution, as he was standing in a hall with a red light, as Luchasaurus emerged as they both looked at the camera, not saying a word.

Jamie Hayter (w/Dr. Britt Baker) defeated Riho to defend the AEW Women’s Title

(I really enjoyed this match, as both ladies were throwing some serious shots. Perhaps the thing I liked the most was no interference from The Outcasts. This allowed Hayter & Riho to have a fun battle.)

Hayter tried her finisher immediately, but Riho was a step too quick, as she got a series of near falls in response. Hayter used her power for a few shoulder tackles, but again, Riho used her speed to send Hayter to the floor, where she connected with a dive off the top. Hayter battled back in the ring with a gut buster to gain control. Both ladies battled to the apron where a slugfest ensued until Hayter hit a Uranage on the edge of the ring.

Right after commercial break, Riho fired back with a head scissors, Tiger Feint Kick and cross body off the top for two. Hayter avoided the Northern Lights, but not the snap German and Dragon suplexes by Riho. A top rope double stomp missed, as Hayter hit a Ushigoroshi and Swing Low, Sweet Lariat for two. Hayter connected with a superplex, held on, wanted a brainbuster, but Riho countered into a nasty DDT in a great sequence. Forearms were thrown by both, as Hayter won that battle, as both went up to the second rope again. Riho hit a springboard hurricanrana out of the corner and charging double knees, but Hayter got a foot on the rope.

Riho desperately wanted another Dragon suplex, but Hayter rolled through into Hayter-ade, which Riho avoided at first, but not the second. Riho kicked out of the first one, but Hayter clobbered her with a second Hayter-ade to defend the title.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Outcasts, who mockingly congratulate Hayter for defending her title. Ruby Soho said for her not to get comfortable, as one of the Outcasts will become the AEW Women’s Champion, as Paquette asked who it would be, but Saraya wouldn’t let her stir the pot.

-Angelo Parker, Jake Hager and Matt Menard, who absolutely raided David Puddy’s wardrobe, are at the ramp and talk about The Acclaimed joining the J.A.S. The Acclaimed made their entrance with Max Caster’s rap running down Chris Jericho, George Santos and even a Cocaine Bear reference. Parker said he got them an 8 man tag this week on Rampage and was about to say Scissor Me Daddy Magic, when Daddy Ass cut them off to do it the proper way.

-A video is shown of MJF being awarded a key to the city of Oyster Bay. MJF said this is one of the proudest days of his life.

MJF Day

An introduction by Justin Roberts for a swing band on stage, as MJF walked out in a white tuxedo to a huge ovation. MJF broke out singing Pennies from Heaven in what just needs to be seen to be believed. This whole band performance and MJF’s vocals would make both Lawrence Welk and Dean Martin proud, I’m sure. MJF danced down to the ring to bring the song home. Roberts introduced Joseph Saladino, the Supervisor of the town of Oyster Bay, who presented MJF with a much bigger key to Long Island. Saladino got booed mercilessly by the crowd, which got Taz to crack up on commentary.

MJF said he deserves this, while losers like Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara and most of all, Jungle Boy. The most Jungle Boy will have is a girlfriend with a wandering eye and tiny package. MJF is going to tell the fans his story and got them to chant A.D.D. as he talked about a teacher he had growing up, Mrs. Benedict, who would laugh at MJF for not knowing answers in school. MJF said he always thought about wrestling, even as a child and the joke was on Mrs. Benedict, who he called a stupid b*tch, which also got a chant. MJF gave a motivational speech to the Long Island kids out there, but only them, as he doesn’t talk to poors. MJF capped it off with his tag line, took his title and walked back up the ramp for an encore performance.

Someone smashed symbols right behind MJF’s ears and was revealed to be Jungle Boy, as the brawl was on. MJF did get cheered whenever he was on offense and Jungle Boy booed, as they were separated by agents and security. Sammy Guevara made his entrance between both men, picking up the AEW Title, holding it up at both MJF & Jungle Boy before making his way to the ring for his match.

Sammy Guevara defeated Komander

(This was a fun little match for Guevara to stack another win, as Komander, whose offense is spectacular, tried way too many rope walks in this. Guevara’s post match promo came off as babyface, but was booed since he was trash talking MJF to the Long Island crowd, which in turn, he ran down. They’ve been doing a good job building Guevara as a potential contender.)

Guevara blindsided Kommander and connected with a huge springboard moonsault to the floor, so high Guevara was out of frame. Guevara flew off the top back inside, but ate a superkick in mid air. Komander did his rope walk into a Shooting Star Press for a near fall, as Guevara rolled outside. Komander tried his rope walk all across the ring into a dive outside, but Guevara had is scouted with a jump knee that took us into picture in picture.

Guevara kept Komander grounded as we saw Jungle Boy watching on backstage with security right behind him. Komander fought back with a springboard Poison rana, before walking the ropes with a huge dive on the outside. Back inside, Komander tried another Shooting Star Press, but Guevara moved, so Komander hit a springboard Phoenix Splash for two. Komander tried the rope walk Shooting Star a third time and Guevara got his knees up. Guevara missed the GTH, as he was placed in the ropes until Komander tried another rope walk, this time Guevara hitting a Cutter half way through. The GTH connected and Guevara got the win, as Darby Allin was shown watching in the rafters.

Tony Schiavone entered the ring to interview Guevara post match, who questioned what the heck that was before his match, American Idol? Guevara said he had MJF beat when they wrestled, but Shawn Spears and a chair beat him, not MJF. Guevara said MJF’s pillar was built by others and he’s almost jealous of it. Guevara said MJF sold his soul to be a pillar, something he would never do. Guevara said he isn’t going to stop until he’s AEW World Champion.

HOOK defeated Ethan Page (w/Matt Hardy & Isiah Kassidy) to defend the FTW Title

(Commentary was acting shocked by Hardy’s actions, which, if anyone has been paying attention, this isn’t shocking at all. Page finally got what was coming to him.)

Page tired a cheap shot, but was dropped with a T-Bone suplex before rolling outside. Page took the fight to HOOK on the floor and posted him before doing the Matt Hardy pose back in the ring. Page tried a Twist of Fate, but HOOK countered into one of his own. Isiah Kassidy ran distraction long enough for Hardy to have a tug of war with the FTW title with Page. Hardy ripped the title away, clocked Page, who fell back into REDRUM to give HOOK the submission. Hardy & Kassidy gave a fist bump to HOOK on the ramp as they went to the back.

-Excalibur throws it backstage to AEW’s newest broadcaster Nigel McGuinness, who is backstage with Tony Khan. Khan said before AEW was founded, four pioneers, The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes & Kenny Omega who put on a show called All In, the biggest independent wrestling show of all time. Five years later, AEW will make their debut in London, England on Sunday August, 27th for All In. Khan brought in Adam Cole, who announced Wembley Stadium is where this will be taking place.

**********

The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta w/Bryan Danielson) demolished their competition

(The post match was the bigger story, as I’m baffled how literally no security, referees, agents, wrestlers came to Hangman Page’s aid. This really made Danielson and company more ruthless, even more so than before.)

This destruction happened so quick and fast that Excalibur didn’t even get a chance to announce the BCC’s opponent’s names. Moxley & Castagnoli hit a spike piledriver on the floor on one guy, while Yuta locked in a single crab, Moxley with the sleeper and Castagnoli launched a poor guy to the floor. Yuta hit anvil elbows and a nasty cross face for the easy win.

Post match, Danielson grabbed a microphone saying he was home with his family, who he loved. He also loves all of the Blackpool Combat Club, who are professional wrestlers. Danielson asks if the guys just beaten up are professionals, but look more like amateurs hired by the EVPs. Danielson calls themselves the only professionals here tonight as Hangman Adam Page power walked to the ring. Page showed no fear and was immediately beaten down by Moxley, Castagnoli & Yuta, while Danielson repeatedly called him an amateur.

The BCC are professionals, as Page doesn’t have anyone who loves him as much as he does the BCC. Danielson pulled a screwdriver from his jacket and said the house of AEW needs to be fixed up from all these amateurs. Danielson slowly drove the screwdriver into I believe the eye of Page, who screamed in pain, as Danielson continued to call themselves professionals and everyone else amateurs.

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) defeated The Gunns (Austin & Colten) to win the AEW Tag Team Titles

(FTR luckily remain in AEW and are champs once again. This was ok, but felt clunky at times, which I think was because they were rushing the end. The Gunns were hell bent on getting DQ’d by any means necessary and when their plan didn’t work, the wheels fell off for the now former Tag Champions.)

The Gunns had new music and fancier overall entrance presentation. This is FTR’s first match since Wrestle Kingdom, as Wheeler & Austin took turns slapping each other to start. Wheeler connected on a charging spear in the ropes and chops as FTR made fast tags. Colten tried to regroup outside, as Wheeler got a baseball slide, but was caught up with Austin to allow The Gunns to take control and isolate Wheeler during break.

Harwood made the hot tag right when we returned, firing off punches in bunches. A really nice short arm lariat sent Colten outside, as Austin ducked one of his own, but Harwood got a close small package. A double DDT to Colten in the ropes connected, while a blind tag by FTR was made, as they planted Austin with a spike piledriver for two. Both teams tried their Shatter Machine, 3:10 to Yuma, as it was FTR who hit Shatter Machine, but Colten pulled the ref out of the ring. Colten demanded referee Paul Turner disqualify them, but he refused, as a DQ would end FTR’s AEW careers. Colten & Harwood collided on the apron, as Austin hit the Fame-Asser for two.

Austin tried a Pedigree, but Harwood spun out into multiple pin attempts. Austin hit a low blow right in front of the ref, but Wheeler pleaded not to disqualify The Gunns. 3:10 to Yuma hit on Wheeler, as Austin set up Harwood in the corner. The ref saw one title thrown in the ring, but not the second one, as Harwood was clocked with the title, but kicked out at two. Harwood spat in both Gunns face, as Wheeler came flying off the top with a sunset flip, while Harwood simultaneously got a roll up and both Gunns were pinned to give FTR the titles as streamers fell. The show ended with Mark Briscoe running to the ring to celebrate with FTR.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they mention tonight being the return of Adam Cole before throwing it to Justin Roberts.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry defeated Matt Hardy (w/Ethan Page)

(The match itself was good for how long it went, but the bigger story was the post match confrontation between MJF & Perry. You could say the back & forth talking went a little long, but it certainly made you want to see Perry potentially be the one to defeat MJF for the title down the line.)

Stokely Hathaway is missing from ringside after his defeat from HOOK last week. Both men had a nice back and forth early with Hardy being sent to the floor, as Page put a stop to a potential Perry dive. The delay was long enough for Hardy to catch Perry in mid air with a Side Effect as Darby Allin & Sammy Guevara were shown watching backstage. Perry fought back with a double sledge off the barricade before a slug fest on the apron. Another Side Effect by Hardy, this time on the edge of the apron took us to commercial break.

It was all Hardy during picture in picture, as Perry fired back with a dropkick. Page again ran distraction, as it allowed Hardy to connect with a superplex for two. For the third time Page got involved, but HOOK’s music hit and the FTW Champion started a brawl. Hardy tried to hold HOOK, but ducked and Page clocked Hardy. Perry took out Hardy with a dive, but back inside Hardy tried a third Side Effect, but Perry countered with a Flatliner and charging forearm to the back of the head for the victory.

Right as Perry had his hand raised, MJF’s music hit and the AEW World Champion came to the ring. MJF said it was a Kanye move by Perry to interrupt his Re-Bar Mitzvah. MJF said Perry had the audacity to say MJF had it easy in AEW and agreed, as he barely wrestles, collects fat checks and takes a private jet to beautiful Long Island, New York. MJF said Perry gave his blood, sweat and tears to the fans, but they’ve never thanked him, not getting an opportunity either. When MJF & Perry wrestled at Daily’s Place at Double or Nothing, MJF realized he might’ve met his equal.

The advice MJF gave Perry was to ditch his friends and look out for himself. MJF mentioned had Perry not hung out with Marko Stunt, Dino Douche & Christian, AEW could’ve been the Jack Perry show. Three years later, MJF is holding the World Title, while Perry is still just Jungle Boy. Perry called MJF a selfish, narcissistic, piece of sh*t, as he’s going to become AEW World Champion his own way, not waking up alone everyday hating the person in the mirror. MJF congratulates Perry for taking four years to talk, calling him weak and brings up Perry’s real life girlfriend Anna Jay and said she told him Perry is weak between the knees. The fight was on, as Perry stomped MJF in the corner and flattened him with a lariat before MJF avoided the charging forearm.

-Alex Marvez is backstage at the request of Don Callis, who told Kenny Omega he lost his balance last week with Hangman Adam Page. He questions why Omega would trust Page and not him after everything that has happened with them. Callis said he’s going to find Page and make things right, as Omega continued to be taped up ahead of his title match.

**********

-A video package of Matt Menard & Angelo Parker taking The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass out for a night on the town in St. Louis. A hockey game, carousel rides, a big dinner as they made their pitch for Bowens & Caster to join the J.A.S. which was all paid for by Chris Jericho. The Acclaimed said they’ll have their answer next week.

Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta defeated Dalton Castle & The Boys

The Blackpool Combat Club attacked Castle & The Boys during their entrance, beating them all down, as referee Rick Knox just started the match, despite everything that just happened. Moxley had an Anaconda choke on Castle on the floor, while Castagnoli hit a quick Ricola Bomb on one of the Boys for the easy win.

-A video package highlighting Kenny Omega & Jeff Cobb is shown that included video of their interactions in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

-Alex Marvez is backstage with Hangman Adam Page, who said Nick Jackson suffered a separated shoulder, while Matt Jackson has a partially torn bicep. Marvez asked who attacked them, as Page said it was the Blackpool Combat Club. Don Callis entered the picture and apologized for falling down last week. As he extended his hand, Moxley, Castagnoli & Yuta ran in and attacked Page. Callis tried to offer his hand, but was clocked by a Moxley forearm, as he was busted open in the process.

**********

-Before the next match, Tony Schiavone walked up to Kenny Omega before his entrance and told him Don Callis & Hangman Page was attacked by the Blackpool Combat Club. Omega seemed shook, but had to clear his head as his music hit, which was his New Japan theme.

Kenny Omega defeated Jeff Cobb to retain the IWGP US Title

(After the commercial break, this match kicked into another gear and was a really good evenly matched battle. Cobb looked strong, even in defeat, while Omega managed to weather the storm. Post match, we saw a huge return from Bryan Danielson, but the bigger news being the Blackpool Combat Club is once again full strength.)

Cobb showed off his power early, as this presents a completely different challenge for Omega than Vikingo did last week. Cobb was sent to the floor and Omega hit his Terminator Dive, but after hitting the Kotaro Crusher, foolishly tried a bodyslam, as Cobb collapsed onto him. A running brainbuster by Cobb put him in control, as he zoned in on the injured taped up ribs. Cobb went to work on the floor, posting Omega back first, as he continued the onslaught during the entire commercial break.

Omega tried to fire back with his running claw slam, but as he tried for You Can’t Escape, buckled and Cobb hit a spinning back suplex. Cobb tried a huge release German Suplex, but Omega landed on his feet and charged with a spinning Polish Hammer. A backslide into a running knee strike got Omega two. Omega signaled for V-Trigger but Cobb hit a great standing dropkick. Omega wiggled out of a fireman’s carry and hit multiple Snap Dragons, only for Cobb to pop up with a lariat into the double down.

Both men struggled to their feet, throwing forearms and chops before Cobb hit an uppercut to the ribs. Cobb set up Omega in the corner with a raising headbutt and hit a delayed superplex. A standing moonsault only got Cobb a near fall, as Cobb hit a V-Trigger, tried a One Winged Angel and Tour of the Islands, but Omega countered with a ripcord knee and V-Trigger. Omega managed to get Cobb up for One Winged Angel and got the victory.

Post match, Moxley, Castagnoli & Yuta surrounded the ringside area, about to attack Omega before the music for Bryan Danielson hit and he ran to the ring. Danielson told his BCC buddies to back off, as Danielson offered his hand to Omega to pull him up. Omega accepted, as Yuta distracted long enough for Omega to turn his back and Danielson hit the Busaiku Knee and quickly applied the LeBell Lock while everyone else took out security. Danielson has a big smile on his face as Omega is left motionless, screaming that Omega is everything that is wrong in wrestling.

-A video package of FTR challenging The Gunns for the AEW Tag Titles were shown. The Gunns said they used to see FTR as heroes, but then they met them. The only hero they ever had was their father and everyone saw what they did to him. Next week will be the AEW Tag Team Title match where if FTR loses, they will leave AEW.

Orange Cassidy defeated The Butcher (w/The Blade) to retain the AEW International Title

(A lot of this took place during commercial, but Cassidy was able to survive the outside interference. Butcher controlled a majority of this, but looked good doing so. Post match, Excalibur mentioned how Cassidy resorted to some uncharacteristic tactics, as perhaps his title reign is catching up with him?)

The Blade attacked Cassidy pre-match and was about to finish him with a crowbar when the referee finally stepped in and threw him out. Cassidy was given enough time to recover, as the match began and Cassidy used his speed briefly before going for the little kicks. Butcher had none of it, catching Cassidy’s cross body attempt into a gut buster. Butcher worked the ribs through picture in picture, locking on a Cloverleaf, but Cassidy wouldn’t quit.

Butcher tried a powerbomb, but Cassidy went at the eyes, tried an Orange Punch, which Butcher countered into a violent Choke Breaker. Cassidy fought back with a Stundog Millionaire and a satellite DDT, which almost ended horribly, but both men fixed it on the fly perfectly. Cassidy hit a diving DDT off the top, as Butcher took the ref, as The Blade hit the ring and clocked Cassidy with the pipe in the ribs. Butcher quickly made the cover, but only managed two. Chuck Taylor & Trent attacked Blade, while Butcher threw the ref down, only to get hit in the ribs with the pipe by Taylor. An Orange Punch and Beach Break was able to put away Butcher as Cassidy retained.

-Jade Cargill video package is shown talking about how Taya Valkyrie laid out Leila Grey and Mark Sterling with Jaded, breaking Sterling’s nose in the process. Valkyrie has a match on Rampage and Sterling will have his legal processor with him to handle things.

**********

-Juice Robinson talks about his match with Action Andretti this Friday on Rampage. Every punch he connects with will be a statement for Ricky Starks, as this will be a small taste of what Starks will go through next week on Dynamite.

Ruby Soho (w/Saraya & Toni Storm) defeated Willow Nightingale

(I understand the story they are telling with The Outcasts, but the interference in this was overkill and completely took away of what could’ve been a great match. This had its moments and I liked how Nightingale had her former friends offense scouted, but I was just hoping these two would’ve had more time battling it out.)

Soho no longer is coming out to her Rancid theme, which, despite that being a great song, is probably for the best considering Soho’s new attitude. Nightingale seems visible disappointed she has to wrestle her former friend, who just a few months ago won that wild Street Fight on Rampage with. Nightingale has Soho’s offense scouted well, as she countered No Future and tilt a whirl head scissors into a side slam and splash. Nightingale fired off corner forearms until Soho begged off and suckered Nightingale in to allow Saraya to attack with the referee’s attention turned.

Nightingale mounted a comeback out of commercial after stopping another Saraya attack, sending her to the floor. Nightingale took the fight to Soho with a nice spinebuster and gnarly Death Valley Driver. Referee Aubrey saw Toni Storm shake the middle ropes while Nightingale was up there and did literally nothing, as Soho hit multiple No Future kicks for two. Soho was launched by a Pounce, as the straps came down and Nightingale wanted the Doctor Bomb, but for what felt like the tenth time, Saraya took the ref and it was enough for Nightingale to get distracted and Soho steal the win with a roll up and feet on the ropes.

Post match, Soho opted not for spray paint, but a steel chair. Before any damage could be done, Skye Blue & Riho sprinted to the ring and put up a brief fight before Blue was sent to the floor. Riho was held and about to be spray painted until Jamie Hayter made the save and cleaned house for the woman she will defend her title against next week. Hayter & Riho shook hands, as Riho signaled the title will be hers in seven days.

**********

-A quick video package highlighting Powerhouse Hobbs recent TNT Title defenses is shown, as Hobbs said the TNT Title is never leaving his waist.

Adam Cole defeated Daniel Garcia

(For not being in the ring for nine months, Cole looked good here and they played the story of his head issues during this match. Garcia was a solid first opponent for Cole; it’s safe to assume we know who his next feud will be following this main event.)

The opening moments were filled with back and forth grappling, until Cole flipped out of a headlock and went down momentarily, but slapped on a headlock. Garcia fought back with a quick snap piledriver and Cole rolled to the floor with the ref checking him, as they were teasing issues with Cole’s head. Garcia kept control during the entire break before Cole mounted a comeback with a Ushigoroshi.

Garcia blocked a superkick into an open handed slap, as both traded high boots, as Garcia hit a high angle German suplex. Garcia signaled for a superkick, but ran into one from Cole instead for two. Cole missed The Boom, as Garcia laid in anvil elbows, but got his leg superkicked out. Cole missed the Panama Sunrise, as Garcia countered into the Dragon Tamer. Cole got the ropes, as Garcia opted to pose instead of immediately following up. Garcia trapped both of Cole’s arms and hit another piledriver, but Cole kicked out. Garcia charged into a superkick and Cole hit the Panama Sunrise followed by The Boom to get the win.

Post match, Britt Baker came to the ring and kissed Cole as streamers fell. Chris Jericho’s music hit and he power walked to the ring, helping Garcia outside before slightly glancing back at Cole. Jericho & Garcia made their way to the back, as Excalibur got one final All Access plug in.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Hangman Adam Page backstage by an ambulance, as Excalibur told us The Young Bucks had been attacked. Kenny Omega & Don Callis are there on the scene, as Page decided to jump in the ambulance with Nick Jackson and head to the hospital. Callis held Omega back from going with, as Omega has a huge match later tonight. Excalibur said we hope to have more information on this later.

Sting, Darby Allin & AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy defeated The Butcher, The Blade & Kip Sabian (w/Penelope Ford)

(Happy belated Birthday goes out to the Stinger, who celebrated his 64th birthday this week. This was a fun opener with everyone looking good, the highlight being Sting using the mannerisms of Cassidy throughout.)

Cassidy had an O and C on his cheeks that looked like finger paint, which is incredibly fitting. This match stems from the House Rules show this past week in Troy, OH where Cassidy & Allin defeated Butcher & Blade and were attacked backstage post show. Sabian & Cassidy started briefly, allowing Cassidy to do his pocket offense until Butcher tagged in and Sting followed. Sting no sold strikes and lit up Butcher, who went to the eyes, tried a Stinger Splash and missed. Sting was able to connect with one of his own as the match broke down. Sabian tried a dive off the top on Sting, who channeled Cassidy and continued to roll to the opposite side of the ring before tagging Allin. A quick Code Red got Allin a near fall, but Ford ran distraction long enough for the Blade to blindside Allin and gain advantage into commercial.

Allin nearly got a tag, but Blade wiped Sting out on the floor, as Cassidy made the most lukewarm tag of all time, but proceeded to run wild. Cassidy was planted with a powerbomb neckbreaker combination by Butcher & Blade, as Sabian followed with a corner cannonball. Sabian foolishly played to the crowd long enough for Sting to make the tag and clobber Sabian and crew. Sting got the Scorpion Death Lock on Sabian, but was overwhelmed by Butcher & Blade. Allin fought them off with a double Coffin Splash, as Sabian hit a pump knee, but a Stundog Millionaire by Cassidy led to dueling dives on the floor with Allin onto Butcher & Blade. Sting hooked Sabian with a Scorpion Death Drop and got the pin. Post match, Cassidy put his glasses on Sting, while Allin was more focused on staring at the Double or Nothing banner as we saw a video package of all 4 Pillars of AEW brawling last week.

**********

-A quick video package on El Hijo del Vikingo & Kenny Omega is shown ahead of their match later tonight.

-Before the next match, Excalibur told us he received a text message from Brandon Cutler, who left in the ambulance with the Young Bucks and said it was the Blackpool Combat Club who attacked Matt & Nick Jackson.

The Gunns (Austin & Colten) defeated Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles

(This match truly suffered from commercial break, as we barely got that much action during this. The Kingdom & Top Flight continue their feud from ROH TV, but the bigger story is what FTR laid out to get their Tag Team title shot.)

A fast start by Top Flight, who used their speed to send The Gunns to the floor and regroup early. Dante tried to spring off the ropes, but got hung up throat first by Colten, as Austin distracted referee Aubrey. That was all that happened before commercial, as Dante remained isolated throughout picture in picture. Darius made the hot tag right as they returned from break with a standing Spanish Fly on Colten for two. A blind tag by Austin led to a spinning slam from Dante for a near fall of his own.

Dante wanted a Nose Dive, but Colten cut him off, as Darius wiped him out with a dive. Dante managed to connect on the Nose Dive, but Colten recovered to break it up the last moment. Matt Taven & Mike Bennett hit the ringside area to attack Dante on the floor with referee’s attention turned. Dante fought back, rolled back into the ring right into 3:10 to Yuma to allow The Gunns to retain.

Post match, Top Flight brawled with The Kingdom to the back while FTR’s music hit and came to the ring. Colten said no one wanted to hear that song or see FTR. The Gunns don’t respect FTR, who are losers and will never get a title shot ever again. FTR said they’d never team in AEW again, but Austin didn’t bite. Harwood then said they’d quit AEW if The Gunns beat them again. Austin & Colten accepted quickly and spat in FTR’s faces before bailing.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Jade Cargill, Mark Sterling & Leila Grey asking for her comment about the debut of Taya Valkyrie last week. Sterling issued a cease and desist letter saying Taya is not allowed to use Cargill’s finisher, as Cargill said she will give this to Taya herself this Friday on Rampage. Paquette talked about Stokely Hathaway wrestling next and Cargill and crew just laughed about it.

HOOK defeated Stokely Hathaway in a No Disqualification Match

(Poor Stokely was hilarious in getting beat up all over the place, as he tried his best to get out of the match, but to no avail.)

Hathaway is decked out in Nation of Domination colors for his ring gear and gave referee Bryce a hug pre-match. Hathaway said he talked to Doctor Simpson earlier, but he’s not cleared to compete and is retiring today. He handed Justin Roberts his doctor’s note, which is actually a receipt for Wing Stop, as the bell sounded and Hathaway bailed through the crowd. The chase was on as HOOK chucked Hathaway back ringside, as Hathaway was launched with an overhead suplex on the floor.

HOOK tossed in a railing from under the ring, as Hathaway sprayed HOOK in the eyes with a fire extinguisher. Hathaway got a chair, quoted Tupac to the camera, but HOOK blocked a shot and laid out Hathaway with the chair. HOOK launched Hathaway into the set up railing and instead of the pin, opted to get the REDRUM submission. Matt Hardy was backstage hyping up Ethan Page that he is the one who could beat HOOK for the FTW Title.

Adam Cole Addresses His Return Next Week

(This was an excellent back and forth between Cole & Daniel Garcia, who had one of the best promos of his AEW career so far. I loved the subtlety of accidentally calling himself a pro wrestler, quickly correcting himself. This should be a great match next week.)

Adam Cole made his way to the ring to address the crowd ahead of his in ring return next week. Cole said he’s never been more ready to wrestle and said the big question is who his opponent will be, but before he could continue, Daniel Garcia’s music hit. Garcia said it’s Story Time with Daniel Garcia Bay Bay, as the crowd really let him hear it. Garcia said he’s a locker room leader with all the boys respecting him. Garcia is here to welcome Cole back and put him in his place. While Cole was at home playing video games, Garcia beat Brody King, Ricky Starks & Bryan Danielson. Garcia asked where his respect was as a pro wrestler, which made him stop and correct himself to say sports entertainer. Garcia asks what makes Cole special?

Cole said some day Garcia could lead the charge in AEW, but it’s the company he keeps, as the J.A.S. gives him a false sense of security. Despite not wrestling for nine months, Cole is still a multi time World Champion who has traveled the world. Cole said if Garcia is crazy enough to challenge him next week, he’s on. This isn’t just a return match for Cole; it’s a statement that Adam Cole is back.

-Alex Marvez is backstage trying to get a word with Don Callis & Kenny Omega about what happened to The Young Bucks. Callis asks Omega what the issue is, as he sent Nakazawa with them. This is the best thing that could happen to them, as it allows Omega to focus, as The Bucks can come back in a few months. Callis said Omega vs. Vikingo will tear the house down. Callis had zero regard for The Bucks during this and Omega didn’t seem too delighted about that.

Jon Moxley (w/Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) defeated Stu Grayson (w/Evil Uno, John Silver & Alex Reynolds)

(These two seemed to be on different pages for the opening minute or so, but they quickly fixed that and turned this into a fun match. Grayson, with the crowd behind him, showed a lot of heart, but Moxley was too much to overcome.)

After an early slugfest, Moxley wrestled Grayson to the mat. Both men awkwardly collided and a visibly frustrated Moxley chucked a chair ringside before heading back in the ring with a Saito suplex on Grayson, who was launched off the apron into the barricade outside. Back inside, Moxley locked on a Texas Cloverleaf, but Grayson escaped, hit one dropkick, only for Moxley to take over again. Grayson fought back and flattened Moxley before connecting with a spinning slam and twisting springboard senton for a near fall.

Grayson went up top, but was briefly distracted by Yuta. Dark Order & BCC exchanged words as Grayson took out the BCC with a moonsault, while Moxley took out Dark Order with a dive. Back inside, Grayson connected on a huge 450 Splash, but Moxley kicked out. Grayson called for Night Fall, but Moxley countered into the Bulldog Choke. Moxley drove knees to the head and got the Rear Naked Choke, as Grayson nearly faded only to cannonball in the corner with Moxley on his back. Grayson hit a back flip kick, but Moxley cut him off in the ropes with an Avalanche Death Rider to get the win.

-Backstage Renee Paquette is with Ricky Starks who had it quick and to the point, he is issuing a challenge to Juice Robinson this Friday on Rampage, as he’s tired of doing this back and forth with him.

**********

-The next installment of QTV is shown as Harley Cameron shows off footage of Powerhouse Hobbs beating Rey Fenix last week on Rampage. QT Marshall and crew laugh about Fenix losing as Aaron Solo mocks Penta not showing up to save his brother. Solo said he hacked into an “Observer Twitter” account tweeting about hotels. We learn that Hobbs will defend the TNT Title against Penta El Zero Miedo on Rampage.

Toni Storm (w/Saraya & Ruby Soho) defeated Skye Blue

(Fresh off her victory last night on Dark against 18 year old prodigy Billie Starkz, Toni Storm racked up another W here tonight with the only difference being she had help from Ruby Soho & Saraya.)

Storm rushed Blue early, but Blue made a comeback with strikes, face buster and dropkick to the floor. A nice hurricanrana off the apron to the floor followed, as Blue quickly climbed to the top, but was cut off and sent to the floor with a Storm hip attack. Saraya & Soho put the boots to Blue while the ref was distracted. Storm missed a chop against the post, as Blue clocked Soho, only to be planted with a Storm suplex on the floor.

It was all Storm during break until Blue fired up with a corner kick and top rope cross body. A tilt a whirl head scissors led to a spin kick to the head for two. Storm avoided Code Blue and hit a Thesz Press and spinning DDT off the ropes. Storm called for Sweet Cheek Music, but Blue avoided with a pump knee and Code Blue. Soho ran distraction with the ref, as Blue missed her spinning slam on Storm, who connected violently with Sweet Cheek Music, German Suplex and Storm Zero to win it. Post match, The Outcasts were about to attack Blue, but Willow Nightingale and Riho, with a steel pipe; hit the ring to chase them off.

-Doctors are backstage with Stu Grayson, as the Blackpool Combat Club show up and beat him down before walking off.

Kenny Omega (w/Don Callis) defeated AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo

(An amazing main event, one of the best in the history of Dynamite in my honest opinion. Vikingo said he was nervous heading into this match, but he certainly delivered and didn’t let the nerves get the best of him here. This was Omega’s first singles match on Dynamite since November 3, 2021 against Alan Angels and my goodness was this a classic.)

I sure have missed Justin Roberts over the top intro for Kenny Omega singles matches. Vikingo hit multiple dives on Omega during his entrance, as a springboard dropkick back inside led to a forearm exchange. Referee Paul Turner officially started the match, as Omega missed a corner splash and Vikingo showed off his athleticism with an Implosion Hurricanrana out of the corner and corkscrew kick to follow. Omega was sent to the floor where Vikingo hit a Shooting Star Press off the apron. An incredible springboard 450 splash off the second rope got Vikingo a near fall back inside, as Omega battled back with a tilt a whirl back breaker and fisherman’s buster. Omega chucked Vikingo into the barricade and set up a table ringside.

Vikingo fought back on the apron with chops, but Omega hit a perfect monkey flip on the edge of the apron to give Vikingo a rough landing. Omega wanted a Snap Dragon off the apron through the table, but Vikingo sprung in the ring, leapt to the top rope and standing on the ring post hit a Dragon Rana on the apron to the floor. Back inside, Vikingo smoked Omega with a nasty corner kick, but as they fought up on the ropes, Omega tried a powerbomb, but Vikingo turned it into a hurricanrana in mid air and planted Omega on his head. Vikingo quickly followed with an incredible spinning Phoenix Splash from the apron second rope back inside for a near fall.

Omega caught a flying Vikingo in mid air with a powerbomb into pump knee, but Vikingo kicked out, as Omega followed up with a Snap Dragon. Omega hit a picture perfect V-Trigger, but Vikingo countered One Winged Angel with a Swan Dive Poison Rana that spiked Omega. As Omega found himself on the table, Vikingo hit his signature breathtaking 630 Senton off the ropes through the table to a huge pop, as the crowd are on their feet. Both men beat the count and start slugging it out on their knees. Omega fired off a V-Trigger, but Vikingo responded with a sunset flip bomb for a close two. Vikingo went to the top, but missed a 630 Senton, as Omega hit a V-Trigger and One Winged Angel for the victory in an incredible main event.

Post match, Tony Schiavone came to the ring to interview Omega as he called that a match for the ages. Before Omega could say much, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta all hit the ring to attack Omega. As the BCC put the boots to Omega, we hear ambulance sirens and see Hangman Adam Page drive up in the ambulance and 2×4 with nails. Excalibur said Page stole the ambulance, which I don’t believe is very legal. Page stormed the ring, but Moxley told his crew to bail. Don Callis went to spin Page around and ended up flopping like a NBA player, as Omega turned around and thought Page threw down Callis, which he didn’t. Page pleaded his case, but Omega left with Callis to boos from the crowd.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they throw it down to Justin Roberts, who introduces the Bar Mitzvah Man himself, MJF to begin his celebration.

MJF’s Re-Bar Mitzvah Celebration

(This was an explosive opening segment with the future of AEW on full display, showing off the Pillars of AEW all wanting a shot at the AEW World Title.)

The AEW World Champion made his way to the ring with four ladies and laid a smooch on one of them before steamers fell and immediately told Canadian fans that Shawn was better than Bret. MJF talked about being part of the only religion that matters and how he lost his V card during his original bar mitzvah. Hava Nagila played and folks came running out from the back with a chair and hoisted MJF up as Taz sang along, which was great.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry interrupted and came to the ring, but before he could say a word, Sammy Guevara’s music hit and came to the ring. However, before Guevara could talk, out walked the fourth Pillar of AEW and Darby Allin came to the ring. I should point out; the furry hat MJF is wearing is right out of the Jamiroquai Virtual Insanity video. All three men in stereo asked for a title match. Perry brought up wrestling MJF at the first pandemic PPV, Double or Nothing and how MJF cheated to win. Perry talked about wrestling on Dark, Elevation and Rampage, while MJF gets to do whatever he wants. MJF does the same hokey BS every week when others bust their ass to get 60 seconds of TV time.

MJF said AEW revolves around him because he’s a star, but Guevara cut him off and said he’ll turn the re-bar mitzvah into a re-circumcision. Guevara talked about the odd jobs he worked at to get to where he’s at. Guevara said he was supposed to be the bump guy for Jericho, but he became TNT champion multiple times without the machine behind him. After sounding like a babyface for a few minutes, Guevara crapped on the fans and said he’ll be champion soon.

MJF talked about the locker room brawls Guevara has gotten into, but Allin immediately interrupted. Allin talked about the blessing in disguise dropping out of school and joining the Buddy Wayne academy, not changing who he is, he’ll have success or not. There won’t be a bidding war for Allin, as AEW has given him what he wants. Allin said he doesn’t go on social media and cry about not getting what he wants like MJF. If MJF doesn’t give Allin what he wants, he’ll beat his face in with his skateboard.

MJF has had enough, ripping his sunglasses off to show his black eyes from the Iron Man match. He talks about Guevara proposing to a new girl in seven months and says all of them are in Daddy Day Care. MJF said he’s the only pillar who can keep this place up. He’s beaten all of them in singles matches; they don’t deserve to sniff the AEW Title. MJF pie faced Perry, who clocked him with the microphone. Guevara & Allin started to brawl and MJF got knocked off the apron onto the table with the cake on it, as he bailed.

-Excalibur talked about Chris Jericho being honored with Chris Jericho Way on his childhood street in Manitoba.

Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta defeated Hangman Adam Page, Evil Uno & Stu Grayson

(This was an excellent match to further the heel actions of the Blackpool Combat Club. It was a strong return for Grayson, who I really hope returns to AEW and becomes a regular tag team with Evil Uno again, as their tag team moves got a huge reaction. I know it’s in Canada, but I’ve always enjoyed them as a duo.)

Loud reaction for the returning Grayson, as it was Uno who wasted no time going after Yuta, who bull rushed Uno to the BCC corner to get a beating. Fast tags by Yuta, Moxley & Castagnoli, who isolated Uno by going after his leg. Yuta tried to trash talk, but it bit him, as Grayson made the tag and ran wild with a Meteora and spinning DDT on Castagnoli followed by a twisting moonsault for two. Yuta low bridged Grayson outside, as Castagnoli lit him up with uppercuts before a triple spike piledriver on the floor from the BCC as they went to commercial.

Grayson was isolated the entire break with Moxley most notable hitting a perfect piledriver in the ring for two. A charging pump knee clobbered Moxley, as Grayson finally made the tag to Page, who ran wild in his first action of the match. Fall away slam on Yuta, kip up and dive onto Castagnoli outside got the crowd pumped up. Uno made a blind tag, as Page hit a pop up powerbomb on Yuta and Uno hit a senton atomic. Moxley & Page went face to face and slugged it out, as Moxley took the ref, with Yuta clocking Page with the ring bell. Uno & Grayson realized the numbers are against them, as they charged the ring to brawl, but again, Yuta chop blocked Uno’s leg like last week.

Grayson put up quite the fight, clearing the ring post to a dive onto Castagnoli, as Uno hit a Paradigm Shift on Moxley. Uno & Grayson hit the double team Fatality on Moxley, but Yuta broke it up the last second. Grayson got a pop up roll up on Castagnoli, but Uno again was taken out by Yuta. Grayson suffered a pop up uppercut by Castagnoli into the rear naked choke by Moxley to win it, as Moxley transitioned into the bulldog choke. The BCC beat down Uno more until John Silver & Alex Reynolds hit the ring to chase off Moxley, Yuta & Castagnoli, who bailed through the crowd.

-Juice Robinson had a pre-recorded promo on why he laid out Ricky Starks last week. Robinson said Starks isn’t going to do a damn thing about what he did to his injured neck.

**********

Jade Cargill (w/Leila Gray) defeated Nicole Matthews to retain the TBS Title

(Unfortunately the very talented Matthews was just another number in Cargill’s reign, as the bigger story was the debut of La Wera Loca Taya Valkyrie, who appears to be next in line for the TBS Champion.)

Matthews is a 17 year veteran who Excalibur talked about having wrestled in SHIMMER. Cargill hit a pump kick and Jaded to win it in 30 seconds to go to 54-0. Renee Paquette went to interview Cargill about wanting Canada’s best and Cargill backed Paquette in the corner saying isn’t she from Canada? Cargill kissed Paquette on the forehead before Taya Valkyrie made her entrance to a solid ovation. Valkyrie got right in the face of Cargill before leaving, letting Leila Gray get laid out with Jaded by Valkyrie. Referees and Mark Sterling hit the ring and held back Cargill.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Ricky Starks, who said it was relevant to be in Bullet Club in 2015. If it’s an issue with Starks that Robinson has, they can do it anytime anyplace.

-A hype video similar to last week showcasing the new Shazam movie mixed with clips from Orange Cassidy & Jeff Jarrett is shown ahead of their AEW International Title match up next.

**********

-The debut edition of QTV is shown with QT Marshall acting like he’s Harvey from TMZ with some extras acting like reporters. Harley Cameron is the girl, as they cut to a video of Aaron Solo breaking into Wardlow’s car, smashing the window, stealing the TNT Title, as Marshall talked about Wardlow leaving his passport, so he can’t get into Canada. They compare Wardlow to a less successful Batista and cackle. We learn Hobbs will have an Open Challenge on Rampage for the TNT Title.

Orange Cassidy defeated Jeff Jarrett (w/Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh) to defend the AEW International Title

(So much interference in this, but Jeff Jarrett continues to find the fountain of youth as he had quite the entertaining match with Cassidy here. I didn’t know what to think when Jarrett came into AEW, but he’s won me over, he’s been great in this run.)

Pre-match, Cassidy fist bumped a fan dressed as Shockmaster and swapped out the All-Atlantic Title with the new International Title to make the leveling up official. Jarrett did an early Fargo Strut, as Cassidy answered with his hands in the pocket offense, but Jarrett zoned in on the bad leg. The visual of Jeff Jarrett mocking Orange Cassidy’s little kicks in 2023 is incredible. Cassidy floated over in the corner and drove Jarrett repeatedly head first into the corner. Dutt ran distraction to allow Jarrett to knock Cassidy to the floor and they fought into the crowd during picture in picture.

Back at ringside, Singh tossed Cassidy into the ring like he was luggage, as Jarrett continued his attack on the leg. Jarrett faked a Figure Four and opted for a Sharpshooter to get some heat, as Cassidy reversed into a terrible looking Sharpshooter of his own. Dutt helped with the rope break as Jarrett slapped on a sleeper with Cassidy reversing again and Singh hung him up on the top rope with Dutt taking the ref yet again. Jarrett applied the Figure Four, but Cassidy fought free with punches.

After a slugfest ensued, Cassidy was sent into the referee for a bump, as Dutt slid the guitar into the ring. Referee Aubrey power walked to the ring and pulled the guitar away, as Cassidy got a school boy for two. Similar to last week, Aubrey & Jarrett got into it, as Singh pulled the guitar away from Cassidy, who did the Eddie Guerrero fake injury, as Aubrey tossed Singh & Dutt. Satellite DDT on Jarrett connected, as Cassidy kipped up on one leg. For some reason, Aubrey bailed, as referee Bryce was still holding his eye injured with Jarrett distracting him to allow Jay Lethal to lay out Cassidy with the Golden Globe. Cassidy kicked out at two, as Trent Beretta hit the ring to fight off Lethal. Jarrett almost hit The Stroke, but Cassidy avoided and hit the Orange Punch for the victory.

**********

-The Acclaimed had a quick music video about being the people’s choice. Excalibur talks about them being homegrown talent, which leads us to the next segment, as he said these next ladies wouldn’t be fans of theirs.

The Outcasts came to the ring as Saraya, Ruby Soho & Toni Storm told the fans to shut their mouths. Soho said once upon a time, the grass was supposed to be greener in AEW until two bitches that aren’t house broken pissed all over the grass. Saraya said they’re going to show that AEW is their house, as without them, there wouldn’t be a women’s division. Similar to last week, they called the fans neck beards and fat. Storm said she put a smile on her face when she was the Interim Champion, but the fans didn’t respect her. They are the Outcasts and love going through all the rookies like Skye Blue, Willow Nightingale, Riho, Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter.

Right on cue, Hayter & Baker sprinted to the ring and put a beating on The Outcasts. Baker took off her belt and was about to whip Soho, but was jumped by Saraya & Storm. Baker was laid out with Destination Unknown while Storm hit Storm Zero on Hayter. Riho ran out with Nightingale & Blue as Riho had a pipe in hand to chase off The Outcasts. Hayter game a nod to Riho, while Baker was a little more reluctant.

**********

-Matt Menard & Angelo Parker talk about The Acclaimed music video and Menard said it made his nipples hard with how entertaining it was. They told The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass to watch on Rampage to get a taste.

The House of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews & Brody King w/Julia Hart) defeated The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) w/Don Callis, Michael Nakazawa & Brandon Cutler) and The Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara) to defend the AEW Trios Titles

(This was an amazing, action packed main event with the hometown Winnipeg boys getting a lot of time to shine in this. So much took place in this match that when the finish happened, the crowd seemed to be caught off guard so there wasn’t a huge reaction. Post match, the faceoff with The Elite and Blackpool Combat Club with Hangman Page in the middle makes me really look forward to seeing where they are headed.)

The ovation for both Omega & Jericho respectively is go out of your way stuff to check out, as it was massive. Guevara & Garcia were launched and tossed like rag dolls by King until Jericho & Black made tags, only for Omega to quickly steal the tag from Black and the crowd exploded. Before they could touch, the House of Black attacked both and the match immediately broke down into commercial break. Jericho tried a chop battle against Brody King and I’ll let you guess who won that exchange. Jericho was isolated, but traded finisher attempts with Black, as Jericho connected with hit double arm under hook back breaker to give the J.A.S. a chance to pose as a trio.

Black fought off Garcia & Guevara until the numbers were too much and Black fell into a Nick Jackson tag. Nick showed off his athleticism with the slingshot face buster on Black, tried a moonsault outside on Matthews, who caught him and lawn darted into a Black pump knee. Nick fought out of the House of Black corner and made the Omega hot tag, who dished out Polish hammers and Snap Dragons. You Can’t Escape connected on Matthews followed by a snap hurricanrana with Matthews rolling right into a Jericho tag. House of Black tried to stop the face off again, but were sent outside to lead to the Jericho & Omega showdown. A slugfest momentarily led to high impact moves from literally everyone until Omega hit a Snap Dragon on Matthews. V-Trigger attempt was cut off by a Walls of Jericho, as The Bucks broke it up with a gnarly Superkick Party which was broke up by a King double clothesline that turned them inside out. During picture in picture, Jericho & Omega had a long forearm battle into a double clothesline for the reset.

Both Jericho & Omega rose to their feet and started swinging for the fences until Omega dodged the corner springboard dropkick. Omega connected with the Terminator Dive, as The Bucks wiped out the House of Black with dueling dives. Garcia & Guevara cut off the Bucks as Garcia hit a huge superplex on Nick, while Guevara connected with a Spanish Fly on Matt. King teased a dive off the top, but Omega & Jericho cut him off with a double superplex, which the fans ate up. Jericho responded with a Code Breaker on Omega for two. We cut backstage to see the Blackpool Combat Club & Dark Order brawling backstage and Excalibur told us Evil Uno was taken to the hospital. That seems super random, but will come into play later.

Omega got the knees up to avoid a Lionsault, as Matt hit Garcia with Locomotion Northern Lights, as did Guevara. The Bucks tried a Meltzer Driver, but Jericho laid out Nick with a Code Breaker in mid air. Picture perfect Shooting Star Press by Guevara on Matt, but King broke it up. King squashed Garcia & Guevara with corner cannonballs as King tossed Guevara to Jericho, as House of Black wanted the hometown boy. Jericho tried to fight them off, but was spiked with Dante’s Inferno, as Omega broke it up. Jericho got a bat shot on King with referee Aubrey’s attention turned. Guevara wiped out The Elite with a Shooting Star to the floor, as King kicked out at two. Jericho wound up for a Judas Effect, but ate a roundhouse kick by Black. Jericho fell into a Garcia tag and he was planted with Dante’s Inferno to eat the pin.

Post match, Jake Hager hit the ring, but was beaten down by the House of Black. The Blackpool Combat Club and Dark Order brawled out from backstage with Silver & Reynolds being taken out. Hangman Page found himself in the ring alone against Moxley, Castagnoli & Yuta when The Elite jumped in behind him for backup. Page didn’t realize this as the crowd cheered loudly and the BCC retreated. The final shot was Page slowly turning back to see Omega & The Bucks, but we never saw his reaction.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with a quick highlight video of action from Revolution before Excalibur welcomes us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz.

Orange Cassidy defeated Jay Lethal to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Title

(While you’d assume the first part of this match felt a little slower, it played a huge part in the story told the rest of the match. The second half really picked up and I enjoyed how it came into play for the finish.)

This is the fourth week in a row a Cassidy match opens Dynamite and this week, he had a couple sparks of fireworks for his entrance, which is perfect. Lethal’s crew was prevented from coming down to ringside, as a fast back and forth of counters of big moves led to Cassidy punting the arm out of a Lethal Combination attempt. Both spilled outside, where Lethal was posted and Cassidy tossed into the steps. The crowd is really letting Lethal hear it, as a Fargo Strut led to Cassidy getting his knee posted, with Lethal controlling during break.

While Lethal blocked the Stundog Millionaire and Satellite DDT, Cassidy was able to hit a nice brainbuster and diving DDT out of the corner before getting a second attempt Satellite DDT for two. Cassidy’s leg buckled when going for an Orange Punch, as Lethal locked in a Figure Four. Cassidy got the ropes and both went to the apron for a chop battle. Back inside, Lethal again took out the leg, as the Lethal Combination scored, but top rope elbow missed. Lethal countered Orange Punch into a Cutter for the closest near fall of the match.

Thrust kick to the knee of Cassidy led to Lethal trying a Lethal Injection, but his injured shoulder from earlier in the match had him collapse. Cassidy quickly capitalized and hit an Orange Punch to retain the title. Post match, Jay Lethal tried to attack Cassidy with the Golden Globe, but was held off by the referee. Jeff Jarrett snuck up from behind and hit The Stroke on Cassidy and broke his guitar over the knee. Best Friends made the save, as Jarrett bailed and appears to potentially be the next contender for the All-Atlantic Title.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Powerhouse Hobbs, who said its unfortunate what happened to Wardlow, having his car broken into, his belongings stolen, his TNT title stolen. Tonight, he’s becoming TNT Champion.

Ricky Starks made his way to the ring to a strong ovation. Before he could say what is next for him, the Bullet Club music hit to a huge pop. Starks was attacked from behind by Juice Robinson, who dropped Starks with the Left Hand of God and DDT to stand tall.

**********

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Wardlow, asking where his head is at after what happened to his car and belongings. Wardlow thanks some friends (FTR) for some clothes, challenges Hobbs to a Falls Count Anywhere, Anything Goes match for their TNT Title main event.

Renee Paquette introduced Ruby Soho to the ring, as she walked out with Toni Storm & Saraya, but told them to stay in the back. Soho was booed loudly and told Paquette the fans created this monster. When she wrestled Britt Baker in her first title match, the fans were thrilled she lost. When she wrestled Kris Statlander in the Owen Hart tournament, she was booed out of the building. Cut to Revolution, Jamie Hayter pinned her and she realized no one will ever come to her defense. Toni Storm & Saraya weren’t appreciated when they came to AEW by the neck bearded, mouth breather fans. The broken foundation of AEW is the entitled little shits, rookies, who think they deserve the world. Soho demanded her opponent, another home grown talent, come to the ring, as Skye Blue ran to the ring and our next match is on.

Ruby Soho defeated Skye Blue

(The promo pre-match was more than the match itself, which mostly happened during commercial break. The friendship of Willow & Ruby is officially over, which, I enjoyed that partnership and it almost became a casualty of this storyline unfortunately.)

Soho immediately sent Blue to the floor and beat her up before heading back in the ring. Blue tried to fight back, but was planted with a back heel trip. During picture in picture, Soho jaw jacked with the crowd while keeping Blue grounded with multiple Saito suplexes. Blue tried to get something going with a knee strike and sliding low enzugiri. Blue connected on a high cross off the top for two. Soho avoided the Code Blue, pulled the hair into Destination Unknown to get the win. Post match, Saraya & Toni Storm hit the ring and they all started to spray paint Blue before Willow Nightingale ran to the ring. She tried to talk sense into Soho, but was attacked from behind by Storm & Saraya. No Future connected by Soho, as they all spray painted both Blue & Nightingale.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Hangman Adam Page, asking how he’s doing. Page said physically he’s been better, but Sunday he let his heart blacken because he had to. If you want to push him, he’ll take you to hell and ride back out. Paquette asks if this means he & Moxley are finally done. Page apologizes to Paquette for what she had to witness, but not to blame him. He said after this past Sunday, he’s finished with Moxley.

-Video of MJF backstage following his title defense at Revolution is shown. He tells people who thought Bryan Danielson was on his level should get their brains checked. MJF has a horn coming out of his forehead, as his back is no longer against the wall; daddy is single in San Francisco. March 15 is his birthday, so he’s going to stroll into Winnipeg and have a party. His reign of terror has just begun.

Tony Schiavone introduced FTR to the ring to a huge standing ovation from the crowd. Wheeler said it’s great to be back, but the last few months were really rough, talking about losing all their titles, but ultimately they lost a close friend in the late Jay Briscoe. Wheeler brings up The Gunns, calls them the future of this division, but are entitled assholes. He’s going to teach them everything Daddy Ass should have. Harwood said he loves the fans and industry so much, as they have to become the AEW Tag Team Champions; they have to do it for the fans, the Briscoes and themselves.

-Renee Paquette is with Jade Cargill & Leila Gray backstage, as Cargill doesn’t feel challenged. She’s 53-0, so next week in Canada, she challenges the best that Canada has to offer to step up next week.

Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara (w/Jake Hager, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker) defeated Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin) & AR Fox

(By hook or by crook, this was a much needed win for the Jericho Appreciation Society on their one year anniversary, but the post match was the far bigger story. The House of Black have a new contenders for their titles, as a Triple Threat Trios Title match is on tap for Winnipeg next week.)

A fast start by Fox against Jericho, as he used his speed to send Jericho reeling in the corner. The skin the cat dropkick led to a huge top rope clearing dive by Fox, as Jericho scurried to Guevara for help. Guevara made the tag and Fox was grounded, which allowed all of the Jericho Appreciation Society to hit a group photo pose for the crowd. Garcia tagged in, as Top Flight made quick tags that led to a moonsault to the floor. After a quick distraction by Parker, Garcia was allowed to wipe out Dante with a right hand in mid air. It was all J.A.S. isolating Dante during break.

A monkey flip turned Guevara inside out that allowed Fox to make the hot tag and run wild. A cutter took out Garcia, as a two for one wiped out both Guevara & Jericho. A double springboard cutter connected on Guevara & Garcia as Darius showed off his power with a gut wrench German suplex. Jericho ran into a one man Spanish Fly and awkward looking back flip kick out of the corner for two. After a Dante dive on Garcia, Fox hit an implosion senton to take out Guevara & Parker. Dante countered the Walls of Jericho, but Hager clocked him with Floyd the bat, as Jericho hit a Judas Effect to steal it.

Post match, Angelo Parker called this the biggest trios win in AEW history and to Light the Beam. Matt Menard said this is the one year anniversary of the Jericho Appreciation Society. Garcia calls themselves the number one contenders for the Trios Titles, while Guevara just calls them all sexy. Hager still loves his sexy hat. Jericho calls out House of Black, as the lights went out, but The Elite interrupted instead.

Kenny Omega said for the better part of three years, they’ve stayed out of each others’ lanes. Don Callis interrupted Omega and said The Elite established the Trios Titles, so they are the rightful number one contenders. Callis puts over Jericho as one of the bests, but the second best wrestler from Winnipeg and if Callis had a couple months to train, he’d be the third. Jericho calls them to the ring, but the lights go out and House of Black are on the big screen saying they want the titles, lights go out again, when they come on, House of Black are standing in between both teams and Black says for Jericho to come and get them. The lights went out yet again and House of Black disappeared.

-Tony Khan is backstage and announces that Orange Cassidy has asked for an All-Atlantic Title match against Jeff Jarrett next week and Khan has granted him that match. It’s a milestone match for AEW as being in partnership with Warner Bros and the newest Shazam movie being released, the All-Atlantic Title is now being renamed the AEW International Championship, saying the title is being leveled up. We then got a trailer for the new Shazam movie mixed with clips of Jarrett & Cassidy. This was all weird.

**********

-Bryan Danielson post Iron Man match is shown saying that MJF was right, as Danielson thought his first instinct when he woke up being unconscious was he needed to fight. Danielson, though, realized he couldn’t feel his arm and it dawned on him what Max had said, he wouldn’t be able to play with his kids, he tapped and it made him more ashamed than anything else. He said it’s time to go home.

Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli (w/Wheeler Yuta) defeated Alex Reynolds & John Silver

(The match itself was solid action, but the post match pretty much solidified the Blackpool Combat Club heel turn for the trio, which, they’ve been heeling it up quite a lot, so it’s not shocking. After the promo we just saw from Danielson, there’s really been zero mention of him aligned with this group now, so we’ll see where that goes. As for Dark Order & the BCC, we’re not done quite yet.)

It should be noted that Castagnoli & Yuta didn’t have their ROH Titles with them, as maybe with ROH having their own program now, the titles won’t be on AEW programming anymore potentially. Moxley & Castagnoli attacked immediately, Silver didn’t back down, but was just beaten up with fast tags and offense. Silver finally dropped Castagnoli in the corner face first, as Reynolds tagged in with forearms and a dive to the floor on Moxley. An uppercut in the corner sent Reynolds to the floor where he ate a Moxley lariat that took us to break.

Reynolds remained isolated until Silver made the hot tag with fast offense on Moxley that dropped him with a German suplex. Silver blocked a kick and poured down elbow strikes until Moxley sank in a triangle choke, which Silver countered into a crossface with knees. Silver & Reynolds tried their Wombo Combo, but Moxley cut it off into a rear naked on Reynolds. He transitioned into a Darce choke to get the submission.

Post match, Moxley again sank in the rear naked choke, as Castagnoli backed off referee Rick Knox before gut wrenching Silver to the floor. A bulldog choke on Reynolds by Moxley led to Evil Uno hitting the ring, but Castagnoli ordered Yuta to get in and stop him, as he obeyed the orders. Hangman Page rushed to the ring to check on his friends, but was attacked by Moxley, Castagnoli & Yuta. Referees hit the ring to separate everyone.

-Renee Paquette asks The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass what’s next for them, as Bowens said the Tag Team titles are next, which brought in Matt Menard & Angelo Parker who said they love rap music. They said The Acclaimed are sports entertainers at heart, offering them a spot with J.A.S. but The Acclaimed laughed in their face saying they’re on TV more than Menard & Parker and walked off.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Wardlow to win the TNT Title in a Falls Count Anywhere Match

(The crowd seemed to really enjoy the match until the finish, which felt like an odd choice and a letdown. I guess we were supposed to remember something QT Marshall said to Powerhouse Hobbs in a promo months ago that explains what happened here? Again, feels like such a strange way to go, but I’ll give it a chance and am happy Hobbs won, regardless of how. This was a way of Wardlow not having to be pinned while still dropping the title.)

The match started backstage fighting by a car, as Wardlow narrowly missed Hobbs chucking a keg at his head. Hobbs suplexed Wardlow on the hood of the car and tried a powerbomb on the car, but Wardlow backdropped him through the hood of the windshield. Both men brawled all over the place backstage during commercial and when back, they headed to the ring with Wardlow connecting with a spinebuster. Hobbs popped right up and hit a spinebuster of his own, which Wardlow also no sold.

A roundhouse lariat from Wardlow led to the F-10 for two. Hobbs battled back with three spinebusters in a row, but Wardlow kicked out. The match went to the floor again with Hobbs violently slamming Wardlow through the guard rail which allowed Hobbs to set up a table. Wardlow misted Hobbs with water, set him up and connected with a Swanton off the top through the table in an awesome visual. Wardlow hit a powerbomb on the ramp, but Wardlow collapsed after executing the move.

Struggling to his feet, Wardlow dragged Hobbs up the ramp, as Wardlow wants a powerbomb off the stage, but QT Marshall appeared and clocked Wardlow with a chair repeatedly. Marshall is wearing a QTV shirt that I’ve really only seen quick vignettes for on Dark and maybe Elevation possibly. Marshall & Hobbs powerbombed Wardlow off the stage, which thankfully wasn’t as brutal or scary as when Willow did it to Anna Jay on Rampage. The ref put a ten count on Wardlow, who couldn’t get up and Hobbs wins the match and title. Taz said QT hasn’t been seen in months, but he said his word is his bond. Marshall celebrated with Hobbs to close the show.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as he throws it to Justin Roberts for our opening contest.

Orange Cassidy defeated Big Bill (w/Stokely Hathaway) to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Title

(This was completely different from Cassidy’s defense in last weeks opener against Wheeler Yuta. They played the size differential very well and Bill looked good as the monster. As usual, Cassidy played his comedy into the match perfectly.)

Cassidy played early cat and mouse with Bill, as it nearly backfired after an altercation with Hathaway on the floor. Cassidy was ultimately planted with a side suplex when trying a satellite DDT. Bill sent Cassidy up and over to the apron and leveled him with a big boot to the floor. Hathaway cleared off the ring attendant table, as he & Bill set it up. Cassidy tried a huge Orange Punch off the ring steps, but leapt right into the clutches of Bill, who chokeslammed Cassidy through the table. The doctor checked on Cassidy as they went to picture in picture.

Danhausen came out to check on Cassidy and remained at ringside. Cassidy tried to fight back, but Bill locked on a Full Nelson. Cassidy got his hands in the pockets and rolled to the floor as Danhausen was about to curse Hathaway, but Bill put a stop to it. Hathaway clocked Danhausen with his cast, as Cassidy wiped both men out with a dive. Cassidy hit an Orange Punch to the knee and sent Bill into the steps. Back inside, Cassidy hit a Stundog Millionaire, satellite DDT, two Orange Punches and super Orange Punch off the top for the win.

-We see a recap of last week’s main event with Jon Moxley vs. Evil Uno and get post match comments from a badly busted open Moxley backstage. Moxley said he lives for this, he’s not the guy you want to go down a dark alley with. He reminds Hangman Page that he tried to leave this alone, but Page wanted this. There’s only room for one animal in AEW, Moxley will die to protect what is his. This was a gruesome visual, as Moxley is pouring blood and absolutely filled up his right eye.

The Elite were about to make their entrance to Carry On Wayward Son, as the lights went out and House of Black were behind them. The lights went out again and when they came on, House of Black were holding the Trios Titles while The Elite were down.

**********

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Eddie Kingston, Ortiz, AR Fox, Sammy Guevara, Action Andretti, Konosuke Takeshita & Komander to win the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match

(As a result, Hobbs will face the winner of Samoa Joe & Wardlow’s TNT Title match at Revolution next week on Dynamite. This was a hell of a ladder match with a ton of high flying and high impact moves. Komander looked super strong in his debut, the crowd was behind Takeshita, Guevara & Andretti continued their feud and Hobbs got a huge hometown reaction for anything he did. I have zero clue why Kingston & Ortiz were even in this match, as they went to the back almost immediately.)

TNT Champion Samoa Joe joined commentary for this one, as Ortiz & Kingston immediately battled up the ramp and to the back. Komander wasted no time showing his athleticism with a rope walk dropkick onto Andretti holding a ladder. The hometown Hobbs mowed down Fox, Andretti & Komander, as Guevara almost became the next number, but thought otherwise. Takeshita didn’t back down and had a slugfest with Hobbs, getting the upper hand, as Don Callis was shown watching backstage. While Fox took out folks on the floor with a dive, it was Komander who did what he does best, walking the ropes from one side of the ring to the other to take out everyone.

During picture in picture, Guevara set up a ladder bridge in the ring, but was cut off by Komander, but in turn was cut off by Takeshita. Another ladder bridge is set up outside the ring, as Fox was planted by Hobbs with a DVD off the apron onto the bridge, which didn’t break. Takeshita & Hobbs collided again, as Guevara tried to pick the scraps and grab the ring, but Andretti scaled the ladder bridge and tried a Falcon Arrow off it, as both men landed super awkwardly. With Fox still set up outside on the bridge, Komander hit a rope walk Shooting Star Press. Komander went for the ring, but Takeshita cut him off with an incredible Blue Thunder Bomb off the ladder.

The crowd was loudly behind Takeshita, who was cut off by Andretti. Daniel Garcia hit the ring to stop Andretti, as he & Guevara quickly set up a ladder between two chairs on the floor. Guevara took out Andretti with a senton off the ladder, as Garcia helped Guevara try to get the ring, but Takeshita wiped out both men. Takeshita was a fingertip away, but Hobbs appeared and mowed down the ladder with Takeshita falling hard. Hobbs climbed the ladder and got the ring to win the match in his hometown. Hobbs literally had to stand on the very top of the ladder to win it. Joe was about to have a faceoff with Hobbs when Wardlow appeared, wiped out security guards, as Hobbs looked on in amusement.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with a medical update saying Chuck Taylor & Trent Baretta aren’t cleared to compete in the battle royal tonight following their attack on Rampage. Danhausen says he & Orange Cassidy will take their place, as Cassidy is still being checked on by the doctor. He doesn’t care, as all hands were in for the Best Friends.

**********

Chris Jericho defeated Peter Avalon

(The biggest miscarriage of justice was the TV audience being robbed of the smooth sounds of Avalon’s entrance theme. This match was 99.9% Avalon, as one move got Jericho the win.)

The bell sounded right when we returned from break as Avalon attacked immediately, taking out Jericho with a dive outside, as he lit up Jericho with chops and drove him into the steps. Back inside, Avalon got a near fall off a springboard cross body and swinging DDT to follow. Avalon briefly played to the crowd and turned into a Code Breaker to give Jericho the win after hitting one move.

Jericho grabbed his baseball bat and beat down Avalon post match until Ricky Starks hit the ring. Jericho took the mic and said the JAS isn’t allowed at ringside on Sunday, but they’re here tonight. Jake Hager & Daniel Garcia appeared and helped Jericho beat up Starks. Garcia hit a Rock Bottom, while Jericho connected with a Judas Effect to leave Starks laying.

-Hangman Adam Page has pre-recorded comments for Jon Moxley ahead of their Texas Death Match. Page said this is all he has left to lose, as he’s lost the AEW Title, Mox has already beat up his friends, but Moxley can’t take away his spot. On Sunday, Page will take Moxley’s spot at the top of AEW. Beating Moxley is Page’s last glimmer of hope, as there’s only two ways out of this match, living or dying and Page isn’t ready to die. This was an excellent promo from Page.

-Renee Paquette is in the ring and introduces Christian Cage. Paquette said after Jungle Boy beat Luchasaurus at Full Gear, the feud should’ve been over, but Cage’s return changed that. Cage said it’ll be over his dead body that Perry will win a title in AEW in 2023; he’s going to do it instead. Cage said last week he left Perry in a pool of his blood, but realized he only wants to win a title so he can show his family and post about it online. Cage called him a dime a dozen, while Cage is 1 of 1, who challenges Perry to a fight, not a match, on Sunday. If Perry doesn’t show up, he’s just like his father, a no talent hack who doesn’t have what it takes.

The lights went out and we see a video package of Jungle Boy digging a grave along with clips of his time with Christian as a mentor. There are tears in his eyes as he digs what we see is a grave with a tombstone that said Christian Cage’s name. Paquette asks Cage for his thoughts, as Cage just slowly backs up silently.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker, as Hayter said she doesn’t know what’s sweeter, getting to beat up one bitch or two on Sunday. They’ll be watching Toni Storm’s upcoming match with Riho later tonight.

HOOK defeated Matt Hardy (w/Stokely Hathaway, Isiah Kassidy & Ethan Page) to retain the FTW Title

(As a result, HOOK now gets Stokely Hathaway in a No DQ match with The Firm banned from ringside. This was a quick little match with HOOK overcoming the odds and Hardy tapping immediately, thus screwing over Hathaway, which was pretty intentional.)

Hardy showed aggression early, but tried his Delete chant, as it allowed HOOK to get a knee bar. Hardy got the ropes and went outside, as Page sent HOOK into the post with the ref’s attention turned. Back inside, HOOK quickly recovered and hit Hardy with an overhead throw, but charged into a Hardy Snake Eyes. The first Side Effect connected, as HOOK fought off the second as both men collided for a double down. Hathaway took his cast off and handed it to Page, who clocked HOOK. Hardy made the cover, but HOOK kicked out. Hardy went for a Twist of Fate, but HOOK floated over into REDRUM and Hardy tapped instantly.

-The House of Black emerge from the shadows backstage with the Trios Titles. Malakai Black said they’ll leave the titles here, they belong to The Elite now, but on Sunday, they’ve already lost. Julia Hart said they’ll see them at Revolution.

**********

Riho defeated Toni Storm (w/Saraya)

(I wish this match got more time, as this felt like it was just getting going. I understand though, as Saraya, Hayter & Soho are the focal point of this feud right now.)

Storm attacked before Riho even got her ring jacket off, as Riho tried to fight back, but Riho used her speed to hit a corner charge. Saraya ran distraction long enough for Storm to regain control, as Riho hit a roll up into a double stomp on Storm. Riho was sent to the apron and Storm hit Sweet Cheek Music to send her outside where Saraya connected with a charging knee. Storm violently sent Riho into the post as Jamie Hayter & Brit Baker came out from the back as Storm controlled the action throughout the break.

A tilt a whirl head scissors sent Storm into the ropes, but Storm blocked a Tiger Feint Kick. Storm missed the hip attack again, as Riho went up top for a huge cross body to the floor. A double foot stomp off the top led to a Riho Northern Lights for a close two. Storm tried for an Avalanche Storm Zero, Riho tried to counter into a sunset flip out of the corner, but Storm hit a hair mare, John Woo dropkick and Sweet Cheek Music for two. Storm stared down Baker & Hayter as she applied a Cloverleaf on Riho, but as this happened, Riho countered into a roll up for the flash pin.

Post match, Storm & Baker brawled outside as Hayter & Saraya slugged it out before Ruby Soho hit the ring and started swinging at both ladies. All three women had to be separated by officials all while Ruby’s theme was playing.

-Keith Lee & Dustin Rhodes are backstage and address Mogul Affiliates. Lee won’t stand for what they do to others, as Rhodes said this Friday, they don’t like playing games. Mogul Affiliates will remember their names, Naturally Limitless.

John Silver & Alex Reynolds made their way out for the Casino Battle Royale when they were attacked by Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli. They continued to brawl during the commercial.

**********

Danhausen & AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy last eliminated The Butcher & The Blade to win the Casino Tag Team Royale

(Well, a whole lot was crammed into this match and it felt like they were rushing quite a bit. A lot of matches could come out of this though, so the chaos will presumably lead to something. I was a little disappointed we didn’t get FTR, but we were never told a Joker team would be in this, so my expectations were tempered a bit.)

Taz informed us teams enter every 60 seconds, which was ultimately nowhere close to being accurate as entrant times were all over the place. Both teams need to be thrown over the top to be officially eliminated.

As previously mentioned, Silver & Reynolds and Yuta & Castagnoli started things before the break Rush & Preston Vance hit the ring as team three as it was Castagnoli & Rush who picked up where they left off in the Texas Tornado Tag a few weeks ago. Lucha Bros were fourth to a huge ovation, as they ran wild briefly before being outnumbered. Aussie Open are fifth, as Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher immediately laid out Fenix with an assisted pump kick. Reynolds & Silver tried to eliminate Yuta & Castagnoli, but Aussie Open cut them off and the Blackpool Combat Club eliminated the Dark Order duo.

Matt Menard & Angelo Parker entered sixth during break as the other most notable thing to occur was Rush trying to unmask Fenix. Top Flight were next and used their speed, despite the ring filling up. Menard was eliminated as The Kingdom entered eighth and went right after Top Flight who they’ve had their hands full with in Ring of Honor. Aussie Open wiped out The Kingdom with half and half suplexes as Tony Nese, Ari Daivari, Josh Woods & Mark Sterling hit the ring and attacked the Lucha Bros outside. They tossed Penta & Fenix back inside and were immediately dumped by Rush & Vance.

Top Flight eliminated both Vance & Rush as a long time went by with The Kingdom, Aussie Open, Top Flight and the BCC fighting it out. Finally Top Flight were both eliminated and Danhausen & Orange Cassidy entered ninth. Angelo Parker, who was hiding, tried to eliminate Danhausen, but was tossed by Cassidy. The Btcher & Blade were the tenth team with Excalibur calling them the most dangerous team in AEW. Maria Kanellis was pulled up on the apron by Aussie Open when Bennett & Taven accidentally superkicked her to the floor. Both The Kingdom & Aussie Open were dumped.

The BCC, Cassidy & Danhausen and Butcher & Blade are the final three teams, as Silver & Reynolds hit ringside to distract Castagnoli & Yuta, who were dumped by Cassidy & Danhausen. Butcher & Blade hit Drag the Lake on Danhausen, who rolled to the floor. Cassidy was holding on for dear life, as Danhausen snuck up from behind and dumped both Butcher & Blade to win the match.

Post match, Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal & The Gunns hit the ring and laid out Cassidy & Danhausen until The Acclaimed hit the ring. The Gunns bailed, leaving Jarrett & Lethal to get beat up.

-A video package is shown highlighting the AEW World Title match this Sunday between Bryan Danielson & MJF talking about their Iron Man match. This included Jim Ross, Dean Malenko, Excalibur and others. This would be the kind of video packages you’d see on a Countdown or pre-show. It was a good video recapping everything that has led us to the Revolution main event.

Bryan Danielson & MJF’s final confrontation

(They were really trying to cram this final segment being so short on time, but Danielson knocked it out of the park and it was refreshing not to hear MJF cut a heel promo, instead just hear his challenger talk before their showdown this Sunday.)

Renee Paquette welcomed Bryan Danielson to the ring, as she brings up a post from 2014 MJF made when he was dropping out of school mentioning how Bryan Danielson was the reason he wanted to become a wrestler. Danielson talked about how he was forced to retire years ago and if you fight for your dreams, your dreams would fight for you. MJF’s music interrupted, but Danielson told him to shut up before he could even say a word. Danielson said MJF hates him because of the family he has and it’s something MJF thinks he deserves. MJF has done nothing to earn or fight for any of that. Danielson said MJF has taken every shortcut to get to where he’s at and deserves his fiancé leaving him. Danielson has fought for everything he has gotten in life, leaving a job that would’ve paid him the rest of his life so he could fight. Danielson’s new dream is becoming AEW World Champion and he’s willing to fight for it. If MJF isn’t willing to fight on Sunday, he’s going to get his F’ing head kicked in.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as he throws it to Justin Roberts for our opening contest.

Orange Cassidy defeated ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Title

(My goodness this was a PPV quality opener for sure. Yuta had no choice but to play heel here and he did it very well without going overboard. The crowd was into this, especially the ending sequence. The visual of Yuta’s gum stuck right on the forehead of Cassidy is one to check out.)

Cassidy offered a handshake to start, but Yuta tried a punch instead. Cassidy caught a cazadora into pinning combinations as Yuta bailed to regroup. Before Cassidy could put his hands in his pockets, Yuta quickly grounded Cassidy, who turned the tables with Yuta’s seatbelt pin for two. Claudio Castagnoli came to the ring, slapped Yuta in the face to fire him up and it worked, as Yuta took out Cassidy with a dive. Yuta launched Cassidy clear over the time keepers table, as Yuta got showered with boos, while Castagnoli went to the back.

Back inside, Yuta lit up Cassidy, who had put his hands in his pockets while this was happening. Cassidy kipped up, went up and over in the corner, tried a cross body off the top, but Yuta countered into an atomic drop in mid air. Yuta controlled throughout commercial until Cassidy avoided a top rope splash. Yuta blocked the Orange Punch, also blocking a satellite DDT into a brainbuster for two. Up kicks allowed Cassidy to get to his feet and hug Yuta, who headbutt his way free and opted for hammer fists.

A series of reversals allowed Yuta to skin the cat on the bottom rope twice, but both traded German suplexes. Cassidy tried the Mouse Trap, but Yuta countered into one of his own for a close near fall. Yuta spat his gum at Cassidy and it stuck perfectly on the forehead of Cassidy, which led to a forearm battle into a double down. Yuta avoided Beach Break, pulled Cassidy t the apron by the ear, but Cassidy backdropped Yuta on the apron and hit a diving DDT to the floor. Back inside, Cassidy hit the satellite DDT, but Yuta countered Beach Break into a piledriver.

Anvil elbows from Yuta, who tried the seatbelt, but Cassidy got his own anvil elbows as each wrapped the other up with seatbelt pin attempts. Cassidy popped up with the Orange Punch, but Yuta kicked out. Cassidy hit Beach Break, but Yuta again kicked out, as Cassidy hit one final Orange Punch to get the win in a fantastic opener. Post match, Cassidy wanted a hug, but Castagnoli reappeared and told Yuta not to, as he brushed past Cassidy.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Hangman Adam Page & Evil Uno, who was about to say how he was preparing for Jon Moxley when Page interrupted. Uno immediately cut him off and told him not to get involved, as it’s time for Dark Order to stand up for themselves.

**********

-A very stylish Ricky Starks made his way to talk about his recent struggles with the Jericho Appreciation Society. Starks accepts Jericho doesn’t want to have a rematch and he’ll be moving on, which the crowd cheered for. Starks has an open contract for a match at Revolution. Chris Jericho made his way out and said Starks isn’t done with him until Jericho says. Despite beating him already, Jericho said Starks isn’t on his level. Pretty Peter Avalon made his way out to accept the open challenge, but Jericho hit a Judas Effect on the stage, thus robbing us of hearing more of Avalon’s amazing entrance music.

Jericho came to the ring and said you can’t have Revolution without him. Starks said if they wrestle again, he’ll just have J.A.S. interfere once more. Starks questions if Jericho can get the job done by himself. Starks convinced Jericho to accept the match, even saying the J.A.S. wouldn’t be allowed to get involved, but he doesn’t have a pen. Starks conveniently does, as Jericho signed the contract, thus falling right into Starks’ trap. Jericho said no one outsmarts The Ocho, as Starks gave a wink to the camera.

-We hear pre-recorded words from some of the tag teams involved in the Battle Royal later tonight.

The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster w/Daddy Ass) defeated Lee Moriarty & Big Bill (w/Stokely Hathaway)

(So much of this match took place during commercial that we really only got about a couple minutes of actual action. The Acclaimed won on their way to the Four Way Tag Team title match at Revolution)

Caster’s rap mentioned “Hey Bill, your girl just text me, she said that you’re S-A-W-F-T” and it got a laugh from Bill. A quick early blind tag by Bowens allowed for a nice sunset flip backstabber combination as we immediately went to picture in picture, as that is when Moriarty & Bill took over. The Gunns made their way to the stage during break and Bill missed an Empire Elbow, as Bowens ran wild off a hot tag.

After dropping Moriarty with a reverse fireman’s carry slam, Bill ate a superkick, while Bowens opted to scissor with Daddy Ass. This resulted in Bill taking out Daddy Ass with a big boot until Caster took out Bill outside. Austin & Colten Gunn hit ringside to attack their father, as Moriarty nearly put away Bowens with a spinning slam for two. Bowens battled back with The Arrival, as Caster hit The Mic Drop for the win.

-Tony Schiavone introduced Christian Cage to the stage, but Jungle Boy Jack Perry immediately attacked him from behind. Perry brought out two chairs and was about to do a Con-Chair-To, but couldn’t bring himself to do it at first, allowing Cage to get a low blow. Cage slammed Perry’s head repeatedly onto the chair, busting Perry opened. Referees and the doctor finally made their way to to back Cage off.

-A video package of Wardlow & Samoa Joe is shown; as Joe said the biggest mistake Wardlow has ever made will be stepping back in the ring with him at Revolution.

Saraya (w/Toni Storm) defeated Skye Blue

(A quick win for Saraya in an interfere filled contest, as the post match built off last week and Ruby Soho’s realization that the Women’s Title is more important than picking whose side she is on at the moment.)

Blue got an early cazadora and right hand, but as she went to the top, Storm immediately knocked her off with the referee’s back turned. Saraya put the boots in the corner and tossed Blue out to Storm to get a cheap shot again. Blue was able to get the Black Widow submission on briefly until Saraya turned it into the Knight Cap. Blue fought out of the corner with a top rope cross body and snap dropkick, but Storm took the referee. Blue clocked Storm, but turned right into a Saraya thrust kick as she sank in the Scorpion Cross Lock for the submission. Before Storm & Saraya could spray paint Blue post match, Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter hit the ring before it could happen.

As Storm & Saraya sprinted up the ramp, Ruby Soho’s music hit and she didn’t care about either of them, instead she stared down Jamie Hayter and signaled she wants the AEW Women’s Title.

Bryan Danielson made his way out to a massive ovation and said it’s great to be back in Phoenix. Danielson talked about how MJF put a bounty on his head, hospitalized his mentor William Regal, but before he could say anything else, MJF interrupted. MJF said he’s been abandoned by anyone he’s ever loved, but talked about the girl who changed him and he wanted to start a family, until she left him. This got “You Deserve It” chants as MJF said the only thing that makes him feel loved is the AEW World Championship. The AEW Title is the only thing keeping him from taking a handful of pills and calling it a day. MJF said Danielson has something he’ll never have, a happy and healthy family that he takes for granted.

MJF hates Danielson for having more concussions than anyone else, as every time he steps foot in the ring, he’s saying wrestling is more important than his family. It’s spitting in MJF’s face and mentions putting the pill addicted William Regal in the hospital. MJF will punish Danielson for everything he’s taken for granted and mentions Danielson’s kids, as MJF looks into the camera and says hi to Birdie. He will grab Dada’s arm and make him submit so he’ll never be able to play again. MJF said he’ll give Dada early onset CTE on March 5th as Danielson popped him with the microphone and security immediately hit the ring to separate them. Each broke free, as referees and agents separated them as well. Danielson sprinted around the floor and got a clean shot on MJF to end the segment.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker. Hayter said Saraya has come back and tried to wreak havoc, undefeated as well. Hayter said Ruby Soho deserves the title shot also, so said they should make it a Triple Threat match for the Women’s Title at Revolution.

Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal won the Tag Team Battle Royal to advance to the Revolution Tag Team Title Four Way

(There were almost as many people ringside as there were in the actual match. I was surprised at who won it, considering they’ve already had title shots pretty recently. I was personally hoping for Best Friends or Aussie Open to take this.)

Best Friends, Lucha Brothers, Butcher & Blade, Top Flight, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker, Alex Reynolds & John Silver, Rush & Preston Vance, Aussie Open, Tony Nese & Ari Daivari were the other teams involved.

Josh Woods tried to help Nese & Daivari early, but Mark Briscoe hit the ring and fought with him up the ramp. Nese & Penta fought on the apron and Penta hit a Fear Factor to eliminate him. Lucha Bros pressed Daivari over their head and launched to the floor onto Nese & Mark Sterling to officially eliminate them. Butcher & Blade eliminated both Aussie Open and Darius Martin as John Silver & Alex Reynolds tossed the Blade. Butcher sent Reynolds to the floor, as it should be noted there’s referees around the ring and haven’t noticed Angelo Parker & Matt Menard just hiding out and not officially entering yet. Dante Martin has also rolled to the floor as well, but still in it.

Preston Vance was dumped by Penta, who in turn was eliminated by Rush. Fenix did his tight rope walk and punted Rush to the floor to eliminate that team. John Silver was eliminated, as Best Friends were seemingly eliminated by Parker & Menard, but Danhausen tried to stop them. After cursing both JAS members, Parker & Menard were dumped by Best Friends. Chuck Taylor was eliminated by Jeff Jarrett as it’s down to Jarrett, Lethal, Butcher, Trent, Dante Martin & Fenix.

Butcher stacked up another elimination by dumping Dante Martin, as Fenix eliminated Butcher and Fenix immediately tossed out by Jarrett & Lethal. This brings it down to Lethal, Jarrett & Trent. Satnam Singh was running from side to side to help prevent his guys from behind eliminated, as he held them both up by his hands. Trent hit a Tornado DDT on Lethal, but was planted with a Jarrett Stroke. Trent skinned the cat and used Orange Cassidy to help him out. Lethal was backdropped to the floor as Danhausen chased Sonjay Dutt to the back. Singh again helped Jarrett, as he hit another Stroke on Trent to eliminate him.

-Video package about the House of Black talking about the problem in this company and eradicate it. They have called out The Elite for Rampage this Friday to talk about their status.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Tony Khan, who said his huge announcement should be made by an AEW talent. Adam Cole walked in and said next month there will be a weekly one hour TV series immediately after Dynamite called AEW All Access. It will be an unfiltered look at AEW and Cole said this is something you won’t want to miss, as he’ll be able to show his ups and downs. Cole also said the night that show debuts, he will make his in ring return on that episode of Dynamite.

Jon Moxley defeated Evil Uno

(This was pretty brief, but hard hitting while it lasted. Uno put up a strong effort and the crowd cheered for him, but he bled badly towards the end. Moxley also bled a gusher at the end thanks to Hangman Page, thus allowing us to check off that box on our weekly Dynamite Bingo cards. I don’t know if it’ll be a permanent thing, but the Blackpool Combat Club came across as heels in this main event.)

Uno rushed Moxley at the bell, but Moxley quickly turned the tables as we saw Hangman Page watching from backstage. Uno fired out of the corner with a big kick, wrapped his vest around the throat of Moxley and bit at the head, even through his mask. Moxley fought out of the corner, ripping at the mask, but Uno sent Moxley spilling outside. Uno went to the top and hit a somersault senton before pouring down punches to a huge reaction to get the crowd behind him.

Moxley recovered and sent Uno into the steps head first, busting Uno opened as a result. After eating a few shots, Uno fired back with multiple piledrivers, as he tried to go for it again, but Moxley countered into anvil elbows and rear naked choke. Uno is dripping blood as Moxley slapped on the bulldog choke and blood is pouring from Uno’s head. Moxley got the rear naked choke and Uno passed out, but Moxley wouldn’t let go.

John Silver & Alex Reynolds hit the ring to make the save, but Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta ran out to fend them off. Hangman Page had seen enough and sprinted to the ring with barbed wire wrapped around his fist and popped Moxley right in the face to bust him open badly. Page tried a Buckshot Lariat, but Moxley bailed to the ramp and he’s bleeding a gusher.
