AEW Dynamite Grand Slam live results: MJF vs. Samoa Joe World title match

MJF defending the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe headlines this year’s Dynamite Grand Slam.

AEW runs Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York City for Grand Slam tonight for the third consecutive year, with MJF defending against Joe in the headline spot.

In addition, three more titles will be on the line on tonight’s episode.

AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya will defend her title against Toni Storm this evening. Saraya and Storm formed two-thirds of The Outcasts group before Storm recently broke off on her own with her “Illustrious” gimmick.

Jon Moxley is set to defend the AEW International Championship against Rey Fenix on tonight’s show. Fenix declared himself the top contender to Moxley’s title and the two have played off one another in backstage angles on Collision and Dynamite in the ensuing weeks.

In the evening’s other title bout, ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli faces NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston in a match with both titles on the line.

Chris Jericho vs. Sammy Guevara will also take place on tonight’s show.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

AEW Dynamite Grand Slam comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone, Taz & Ian Riccaboni as our title for title match is kicking things off tonight. Claudio Castagnoli, rocking a sweat Ribera Steakhouse jacket, walked backstage with Wheeler Yuta, as Eddie Kingston got last minute good luck from Penta El Zero Miedo & Alex Abrahantes.

Eddie Kingston defeated Claudio Castagnoli (w/Wheeler Yuta) to win the ROH World Title

(Having watched all the video packages they’ve done highlighting the history between these two, this was a fantastic ending to Kingston’s journey to win the big one. The reaction from the crowd, the show of respect post match, Kingston finally being given his flowers on a big stage, it was all excellent.)

Both men wasted no time trading chops and forearms out the gate, with the crowd loudly behind the hometown Kingston. To the floor they went, as Kingston drove Castagnoli knee first into the barricade, but the tide was turned with Castagnoli reversing a whip into a clothesline. Back inside, Castagnoli hit an impressive gut wrench suplex, but a slap woke Kingston up as he delivered a snap German suplex. Castagnoli seemingly headbutt his way through a Kingston backfist on the apron and delivered a back suplex out onto the stage. Castagnoli zoned in on the left arm of Kingston, connecting with a double stomp off the second rope and a wild uppercut for two taking us to picture in picture.

Castagnoli controlled a majority of the break, relentlessly uppercutting Kingston in the corner followed by a TKO for two. Kingston started hulking up, delivering an enzugiri and Saito suplex for a near fall of his own. The Kobashi machine gun chops were unloaded, but Castagnoli no sold, so Kingston just popped him in the face with a right hand. Castagnoli returned the favor with a punch of his own and it led to an intense face off. More chops and forearms were unleashed until Castagnoli blocked a chop and hit a snap lariat for two. Anvil elbow led to a Ricola Bomb attempt, which Kingston got a hurricanrana pin attempt out of. Castagnoli fired up and hit a huge uppercut and the Ricola Bomb for a super close two that had the crowd going wild.

Castagnoli pulled Kingston up, who fired off multiple spinning backfists and Northern Lights Bomb, but this time, Castagnoli kicked out. Kingston couldn’t hit the powerbomb the first time, so he unleashed another backfist and connected on the powerbomb with the high stack to win the match and the title. Post match, Castagnoli extended his hand, Kingston shook it and Castagnoli handed over the ROH Title to have Kingston standing tall with the ROH & NJPW Strong Titles.

-Video of Matt Taven & Mike Bennett praying at Roderick Strong’s hospital bed side last week is shown. Taven has a rosary around his hand and read a get well card. Adam Cole came in much to the delight of Strong, as Taven & Bennett said it was convenient he arrives now since they have to leave for Grand Slam to become #1 Contenders for the ROH Tag Titles. Cole left literally 10 seconds later, saying he has to be there for MJF in his match with Samoa Joe. Strong was dejected, as Cole stopped at the sound of Strong reclining his bed up to show his disappointment, but left. Everyone involved in this storyline, The Kingdom & Strong especially, continue to knock this out of the park.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Luchasaurus & Christian Cage, who said they will walk through Sting & Darby Allin at Rampage Grand Slam. Cage issues a challenge to Allin for Collision, a three way match with Luchasaurus & himself for the TNT Title. The only caveat being Sting is not allowed at ringside. As for Rampage, Cage told Allin to make sure he brings the boy.

Chris Jericho defeated Sammy Guevara

(This was a solid back and forth first time meeting between these two, as there was a few moments where they were on different pages, but got right back on track leading to a real good finish. Excalibur had name dropped Shawn Michaels pre-match when talking about Jericho wrestling his mentor, as Guevara was at the same point in his career. So the post match should come as no surprise, as this was right out of the Wrestlemania 19 playbook and done masterfully by both men.)

Guevara’s entrance included a light up vest as homage to Jericho, as Monteasy rapped Guevara’s theme to the ring. Both men shook hands, but that turned to slaps and chops soon after. Guevara did his leap frog and dropkick, posing for the crowd, as Jericho paint brushed him to put a stop to it. More chops by Jericho led to a double arm underhook back breaker, but Guevara dodged the springboard corner dropkick. Guevara connected on the corkscrew tornillo, as back inside, a top rope cross body hit for two. Jericho countered a GTH into a Code Breaker and delivered a suplex off the apron to the floor that took us to commercial.

It was all Jericho during break, until finally Guevara mounted a comeback with a Spanish Fly for two. Jericho fired up and laid out Guevara with multiple lariats to get two of his own. A float over in the corner allowed Guevara to hit a Code Breaker, as he sent Jericho to the outside. Guevara hit a moonsault off the top to the floor and briefly clutched his knee in the process. The hesitation to follow up allowed Jericho to hit a dropkick in mid air on a springing Guevara. We kind of got a messed up spot where Jericho was going to try his springboard dropkick in the corner, Guevara missed the first superkick attempt, but hit the second, followed by a huge Cutter off the top for two.

Guevara tried again for the GTH, but this time Jericho countered into the Walls of Jericho. Guevera was able to fight free, hit a pump knee, as both fought up in the corner with Guevara hitting an Avalanche Cutter. Jericho’s face was driven right into the mat in the process. Jericho missed a dropkick, as Guevara missed a top rope Lionsault. After a face buster, Jericho hit with his Lionsault for two. Guevara fired off a pump knee, finally hit the GTH, but a Shooting Star Press was countered into a Code Breaker in mid air to give Jericho the win.

Post match, Jericho & Guevara shook hands and hugged before Guevara punted Jericho, who slid down Guevara before getting pie faced. Don Callis walked to the ring and then to the back with presumably the newest member of his family, Sammy Guevara.

-MJF & Adam Cole arrived at the arena in a snazzy ride, as MJF said tonight he will bash Samoa Joe’s skull in. Joe tried to take away two precious things to him, the AEW Title and his brother, Adam Cole. Tonight, MJF will choke out Joe in front of his people. The last thing Joe will hear before passing out is the chants of MJF. Right as MJF was about to hit his signature line, Cole’s phone started buzzing and it was Roderick Strong. Cole took the call, as MJF asked if Cole would still have his back. Cole walked off to take the call.

**********

-Renee Paquette tried to get a word with Don Callis & Sammy Guevara, as Callis said all will be told on Rampage whether or not Guevara is the newest member of the Don Callis Family. Daniel Garcia walked up and Guevara tried to get in his face, but Callis held him back, saying Garcia was money.

Rey Fenix (w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated Jon Moxley to win the AEW International Title

(I don’t think this was the planned finish, as post match, Moxley was being attended to by doctors and we never saw him again. Excalibur did inform us after commercial Moxley left under his own power. I really hope he’s ok, as he seemed to be dropped right on his head from the first Black Fire Driver. They clearly called an audible, as things were going perfectly fine up to the finish, which caught everyone off guard, which includes fans, referee, even Fenix. Again, I hope Moxley isn’t severely injured, as you talk about the backbone of AEW, he’s been there through it all.)

Before the match officially began, both men brawled on the ramp, with Fenix hitting a springboard kick and diving somersault dive off the stage, clearing the camera man. The bell sounds, as Fenix used his speed to avoid Moxley strikes briefly until Moxley hit a forearm in mid air as Fenix tried a somersault cutter. Fenix bit his way out of a kimura, tried his bounce back kick, but Moxley just punted him to the floor. Fenix tried to walk the guardrail into a kick, but Moxley swept the legs and hit a double underhook draping DDT.

Both men fought back inside, this time Fenix was able to hit the corner spinning kick and somersault cutter. Fenix wasted no time and hit the Frog Splash, but only managed two. Fenix charged full steam, but right into a King Kong Lariat from Moxley, who wasted too much time, allowing Fenix to kip up, drape Moxley over the barricade outside and hit a leg drop off the top rope. Right as they went to commercial, Fenix tried a springboard back inside, but Moxley dropped him with a Death Rider for two.

Moxley hit a Gotch Style Piledriver, but Fenix fought back while in the ropes and delivered a double stomp. Both men spilled to the stage, where Moxley hit a Curb Stomp that absolutely spiked Fenix, as it was followed by another piledriver back inside for two. Moxley wanted an Avalanche Death Rider, but Fenix fought out and hit a Senton Atomico. Fenix connected with his Black Fire Driver, Moxley didn’t kick out, but Rick Knox pulled the count. Fenix proceeded to hit another Black Fire Driver and this time Knox counted three to the shock of literally everyone in attendance, myself included.

-Samoa Joe is backstage and said tonight is a night of consequences. Tonight, Joe will smash MJF from pillar to post and he will beat him in front of his hometown. It won’t be the future Joe takes from MJF, it’ll be his championship.

Saraya (w/Ruby Soho) defeated Toni Storm to retain the AEW Women’s Title

(This had all the bells and whistles that the Outcasts have used to win matches over the past year and it ended up telling a good story, especially with this new Storm character. I will continue to sing Storm’s praises, as this whole character overhaul she’s done over the last few months remains my favorite thing going in AEW, even if I have no idea where she goes from here.)

Storm has a full black and white entrance for her starlet character and the theme to go along with it is wonderful. Saraya slapped Storm in the face multiple times and berated her before Storm laughed in her face. Storm fired off chops and laid out Soho for good measure before walking into a Saraya thrust kick. Storm gained control by sweeping the leg on the apron and went under the ring. Soho pulled her out and Storm emerged with shoes, beating down Soho, who didn’t watch for the shoooooe. The ref took one shoe away from Storm, who clocked Saraya with a high heel and got a two count. Storm hit a draping DDT on Saraya during picture in picture, but Soho’s distraction allowed Saraya to take control.

Saraya hit a sunset flip bomb out of the corner, but Storm fired back with shots and exposed the bottom buckle pad. Soho pulled the spray paint away from Storm and she threw it to Saraya, who sprayed Storm, hit the Knight Cap, but Storm kicked out. Saraya couldn’t bring herself to slam Storm face first into the exposed buckle, so Storm blocked a kick, laid a smooch on Saraya and hit Storm Zero for a super close two. With Saraya set up in the exposed corner, Storm charged for Sweet Cheek Music, but Saraya dodged and hit the Knight Cap out of the corner to get the pin.

**********

-During MJF’s entrance started with a callback to the old Bret Hart video where a child and his father yell to MJF backstage and tells him “go get’em, champ”. MJF smiled, gave the child his scarf and whispered something to the child before walking off. The child then asked his father if he was adopted. Commentary was laughing as Excalibur said that’s our scumbag. This was absolutely brilliant.

MJF defeated Samoa Joe to defend the AEW World Title

(A fantastic main event with MJF doing exactly what he said he would do at the end of this contest. As I mentioned in the recap, I really hope Cole didn’t hurt his ankle when he rushed to the ring, as having him & Moxley hurt on the same night and missing time would be awful. Back to the match, Joe did a great job trying to put an end to MJF, as the champion was able to slay the monster by any means necessary.)

Joe toyed with MJF briefly, until an eye poke allowed MJF to try a sleeper, only Joe slammed MJF down with the champion selling his bad neck. A running boot and senton got the first near fall, as Joe worked over the neck during the entire picture in picture. MJF avoided a Muscle Buster into a roll up for two and popped Joe with a head kick to follow. Lariats by MJF connected, but he sold the injured neck after each one, which allowed Joe to throw a wild lariat for two. Joe ripped the New York Mets inspired Better Than You, BayBay shirt off MJF, who fired up as a result. MJF got a back rake, drove Joe head first in the corner ten times, delivered ten punches, bit Joe and connected on the Kangaroo Kick to send Joe to the outside as the crowd went nuts.

MJF wanted a dive, but Joe hit a kick through the ropes followed by a violent Death Valley Driver on the edge of the ring. MJF managed to kick out, as Joe pulled a table from under the ring, set it up ringside and drove MJF through it with an Uranage. Referee Paul Turner just allowed this to happen and counted two back in the ring. Joe exposed the panel and tried a piledriver, but MJF bit the knee of Joe to escape. MJF couldn’t hit one of his own, as Joe fought it off and laid out MJF with the piledriver on the floor. Doctors rushed MJF, as they were almost all dispatched by Joe, who threw MJF into the ring for a cover, but MJF kicked out.

Joe screamed at MJF to give up, but MJF spat right in his face, so a slap from Joe soon followed. Joe charged for a home run shot, but MJF floated over and hit a massive sitout powerbomb for two. Both men traded strikes and traded sleeper attempts before MJF hit a mule kick and put on the Dynamite diamond ring. MJF went to charge with it, but Joe pulled the ref in front, who saw the ring, took it from MJF, allowing Joe to punt low. The Muscle Buster connected, but MJF kicked out and Joe couldn’t believe it. Joe slapped on the sleeper, MJF began to fade, but Adam Cole sprinted from the back to cheer MJF on, whose arm didn’t fall a third time. As Cole came out, he jumped off the stage to rush around the ring and noticeably tweaking his ankle in the process.

MJF managed to get a roll up for two before getting a sleeper of his own, but Joe ran into the corner, Paul Turner leaping to the floor to avoid taking a bump. Cole handed MJF a rope, as he wrapped it around Joe’s throat until Joe passed out in a sleeper allowing MJF retain. MJF hugged Paul Turner as Cole hid the evidence. Joe finally came to and shoved Cole, as MJF stood between them. Joe offered a handshake and MJF shook it before Joe went to the back. The doctor checked on MJF as Cole applauded his brochacho to end the show.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz as the music for the International Champion, Jon Moxley hits to a huge ovation from his hometown crowd.

Jon Moxley defeated Big Bill (w/Ricky Starks) to retain the AEW International Title

(A hard hitting opening battle, as you’ll be shocked to learn that Moxley bled in his hometown. I’ve enjoyed how they’ve really made Big Bill into a monster recently and even in defeat here, they opened up a possible match down the line not just with Danielson, but now Claudio Castagnoli as well.)

Moxley tried to chop the big man down early with strikes until one uppercut shot by Bill dropped the champion. Moxley was flattened with a fall away slam and running big boot that sent him to the outside. Excalibur talked about Moxley & Bill being roommates years ago, as Moxley reversed a whip and sent Bill crashing into the steps before briefly stalking down Starks. Bill turned the tide into commercial by launching Moxley over the timekeepers table, as he was busted open during picture in picture.

Back from break, Moxley began his comeback by delivering a superplex, but once both men got to their feet, Moxley charged right into a Black Hole Slam by Bill. Moxley refused to stay down from the strikes by Bill and it led to a forearm exchange with the crowd loudly behind Moxley, who hit a wild King Kong lariat for two. Anvil elbows into the rear naked choke, as Moxley connected with a cutter, went to the top, as Bill rolled outside, with Starks crotching Moxley. Bill delivered his big boot, but only got two.

Bryan Danielson sprinted to the ring and attacked Starks, who reversed a whip, sending Danielson into the steps. In the ring, Bill flattened Moxley with a huge chokeslam, as Bill wanted another one, but Moxley sank in a triangle. As Starks tried to help out his buddy, Danielson held him off, as Bill finally tapped out. Post match, Starks & Bill attacked Moxley & Danielson, with Starks hilariously trying to beat down Moxley with his shoe, as Claudio Castagnoli hit the ring and picked up Bill in a fireman’s carry. Bill was able to land on the apron as the BCC stood tall. Commentary told us next week at Grand Slam; Moxley will defend the International Title against Rey Fenix.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Roderick Strong & The Kingdom when Adam Cole approached, saying this is a horrible idea tonight wrestling Samoa Joe. Strong has The Kingdom believing in him, while Cole can keep on believing in Max. Strong says he’ll defeat Joe tonight and calls himself a wrestling legend.

Don Callis Reveals His Next Masterpiece

Tony Schiavone welcomed Konosuke Takeshita & Don Callis to the ring, who said they’ve defeated Kenny Omega twice; as Callis runs down all the Japanese legends that Takeshita is better than. When you beat Omega once, you’re The Ace, but when you beat Omega twice in seven days, they call you the Alpha. Streamers fell as Callis demands everyone going forward call him The Alpha Konosuke Takeshita, not a fake Alpha like Chris Jericho was. When you’re an Alpha, you take everything that can be taken and then you take some more. They’ve broke Kenny Omega’s body, now they break his heart, as they reveal the painting and next victim to be Kota Ibushi. The painting has Takeshita & Callis about to destroy Ibushi with a sword, as Callis said they will destroy Ibushi and spill his blood in the ring while Omega is at home, helpless, like the pathetic cuck he is. Callis then drove a screwdriver into the painting and presented Takeshita with flowers, which he threw in the face of Tony Schiavone.

-Alex Marvez is backstage with Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson, who said he loves it when things escalate for the BCC. Danielson issues a challenge for Collision with Castagnoli against Ricky Starks & Big Bill. Moxley was about to talk about his title match next week when Rey Fenix bursts into the shot and has to be restrained by referees, as we see Eddie Kingston appear and has a faceoff with Castagnoli. Kingston laughs and says one more week before walking off.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with FTW Champion HOOK, who was about to talk when Orange Cassidy appeared. Cassidy was just walking around when he saw HOOK upset when he has a title. Cassidy used to have a title and HOOK said he was a great champion, as Cassidy returned the compliment as HOOK walked off. Paquette asked how Cassidy was doing and he said he’s still just so tired.

Toni Storm defeated Nyla Rose (w/Marina Shafir), Dr. Britt Baker & Hikaru Shida to earn an AEW Women’s Title shot at Dynamite Grand Slam

(Well, this match really suffered from the commercial break mid match, as it felt like we only got about 2 minutes of action. The feud with Baker & Shida continues to build, as it was interesting that Baker ate the pin here tonight. Every week Toni Storm is on TV though, I will always mention how this Hollywood starlet character of hers is one of the best in wrestling with how entertaining it is.)

Despite recent events, Storm came out to The Outcasts theme and entrance video. Rose wiped out Baker & Shida early, as Storm tried to take center stage, with Rose just staring at her. Baker & Shida fought back, sending Rose to the outside, as Storm sent Shida into Baker on the apron, as everyone piled up ringside, where Shida did a dive onto Rose, Storm & Shafir heading into commercial. Storm & Rose controlled the action during picture in picture until Baker sent Rose to the corner where Storm hit Sweet Cheek Music.

Storm was dropped by Shida and we had a brief faceoff between Shida & Baker until double chop blocks from Storm & Rose put a stop to that. Rose laid out Storm with a Beast Bomb, a choke slam on Baker, but Shida rolled through a Beast Bomb into a roll up for two. The Kitana knee hit on Rose, but Baker connected with an awkward Curb Stomp on Shida. Storm saw an opening and snuck in with a school girl on Baker to steal the win. Post match, Shida was furious at Baker for kicking her, as Storm was on the stage posing like a starlet in celebration.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Saraya & Ruby Soho, who sort of congratulated Toni Storm on winning the match. Saraya said once Storm lost her Women’s Title, she lost her mind, as she’s going to lose at Grand Slam as well, leaving Storm with nothing. This whole promo makes Storm walking out to The Outcasts theme & video even more confusing honestly.

Le Sex Gods Talk About Grand Slam

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara made their way to the ring together, as Jericho talked about being together since day one of AEW and threw it to a video package of their greatest moments with each other. Guevara confessed he still doesn’t know the lyrics to Judas. Jericho talked about calling Tony Khan when he first saw Sammy Guevara wrestle and wanted him to be with Jericho to teach him everything he could. Over the years, Jericho has watched Guevara go from a boy to a man. Guevara doesn’t want to do the usual trash talking before their match, he instead wants to say thank you for changing his life. Without Chris Jericho, there is no AEW, but Guevara didn’t come to AEW just to be a sidekick, he came for fans to view him like Moxley, Danielson & Jericho. It will never happen as long as he’s a sidekick, so he needs to beat Jericho next week.

Jericho said Guevara was never brought in to be a sidekick; he was brought in to be a money making draw and main event player. This is why Jericho told both Guevara & Daniel Garcia they need to break off from him to accomplish what they’re capable of. Jericho said Guevara needs to beat him, but he’s not ready. Guevara said the boy Jericho first saw wrestle might not be able to defeat him, but the man he’s become will. Once Guevara defeats Jericho, then they can go on and win the Tag Team Titles. Both men shake hands, but Jericho pulls Guevara in and said he won’t go easy on Guevara; he’s going to beat the living hell out of him. Jericho expects the exact same thing from Guevara, who wouldn’t want it any other way.

-We see footage from last Wednesday night of the doctor checking on MJF. Renee Paquette asks for an update and the doctor said he’s not cleared for next week, but will be ready for Grand Slam. Adam Cole tried to apologize to MJF, who was thrilled he gets another week off. MJF said Roderick Strong is an incredibly manipulative person, who is a wet blanket, third wheel and told Strong to shake it off. Samoa Joe might not realize it, but this pitbull has a whole lot of bite. MJF promises if Joe wins the tournament, he will choke Joe out. MJF then rattles off the infamous Scott Steiner math promo from TNA, as the reaction of Paquette during this was priceless. Taz said that math was right out of the University of Michigan. This was hilarious by everyone involved.

Hangman Adam Page defeated Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana)

(Despite not facing each other in singles action for a few years, these two had a really good match, with the finishing sequence being fantastic. It looks like Hangman won’t have to fight the Mogul Embassy alone on his road to facing Swerve Strickland at Wrestle Dream.)

This is Page’s first singles match on Dynamite in 7 months, as commentary talk about the previous two meetings between Page & Cage with Cage winning the first battle and Page the second. Cage used his power early, but Page was able to fire off multiple big boots and a springboard clothesline on the apron sent Cage outside. Page wanted a slingshot dive, but Cage caught and posted Page in the process. Page was able to return the favor by turning a powerbomb into a hurricanrana, posting Cage. Back in the ring, Cage tried a pop up powerbomb, which Page countered into another hurricanrana, this time following it up with a Tiger Feint Kick, nearly getting hung up in the ropes, but he connected. Page wanted the Buckshot, but Swerve Strickland and his music hit long enough for Page to get distracted and Cage to hit a massive German suplex from the apron back into the ring.

It was all Cage during commercial, as a slugfest ensued until Cage hit a snap powerslam, missing a follow up moonsault off the second rope. Page battled back and spilled to the floor with Cage, who wanted his signature moonsault to the floor, but Cage rolled back in the ring and caught a cross body attempt. Page was able to counter into a crucifix bomb, as Cage rolled to the floor and Page hit his moonsault. Back inside, Page finally managed to hit the top rope cross body, but Cage kicked out. Cage hit a release German and wanted an outside in suplex, as Page swept the legs, tried a Buckshot, but Cage countered into a F5 attempt, which Page countered into a small package. Page was up first and dropped Cage with the Dead Eye and got the victory.

Post match, Page said last week Strickland wanted his spot, but he sent Cage to fight him instead of Strickland himself. Page thought Strickland had balls, but clearly he’s keeping them in Prince Nana’s Burger King crown. Strickland said those sound like fighting words, but he’s dumber than the Cincinnati education system if he thinks tonight is fight night. Strickland says he picks where and he said Wrestle Dream in Strickland’s hometown. Strickland said Mogul Embassy will tune him up before then, as Cage attacked with Nana dancing. The Young Bucks appeared behind Nana, mocked his dancing and laid him out with a superkick, as they stood tall with Page, who stared down Strickland.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Daniel Garcia, who doesn’t care to be asked about Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara. He wants to talk about going viral four times recently, as Don Callis interrupts and was trying to recruit, but Garcia shushed him and did his dance, walking off. Callis laughed and told Paquette that was money.

**********

-We have highlights of Jade Cargill’s return on Collision last Saturday, saving Kris Statlander from a post match attack by The Renegade Twins, only to lay out Statlander as well. We learn Statlander will defend the TBS Title against Cargill this Friday on Rampage.

Darby Allin & Nick Wayne defeated Matt Menard & Angelo Parker (w/Jake Hager & Anna Jay)

(While I enjoyed the second half of this match, I almost wish this happened on Rampage or Collision and the women’s four way got more time. Regardless, the post match was the story here, as Cage wants revenge for All In and presumably will get it next week at Grand Slam. Commentary really put over how Allin’s back is falling apart by the week, so I expect that to come into play soon.)

Before anything could really happen, Christian Cage & Luchasaurus interrupted and joined commentary, as Wayne was attacked early by Parker. There was a loud Daddy Magic chant, as Menard & Parker made frequent tags, picking Wayne apart. Wayne hit an enzugiri and was about to make the hot tag when Anna Jay took referee Aubrey, as Hager laid out Allin. Menard & Parker kept Wayne isolated throughout the break.

Wayne was finally able to use his speed to escape the clutches and made the tag to Allin, who ran wild. A combo of strikes into a Code Red on Parker got a two count, as Parker fought back, but missed the blind tag. Parker tried a roll up on Allin, who kicked off and Wayne connected with Wayne’s World. Allin wiped out Menard with a somersault senton to the floor, as he made the tag with Wayne hitting a moonsault onto Menard & Hager, while Allin hit a Coffin Drop on Parker in stereo for the win.

Post match, Cage & Luchasaurus took the microphone and said it was an impressive win. Cage talked about scrolling through Wayne’s mom Instagram account and said he’s disappointed she doesn’t post enough bikini pics. Cage is pissed off there’s still talk about Sting & Allin’s win at All In. It’s not as embarrassing as the Bengals losing to the Browns, but still embarrassing, as Cage didn’t have his regular partner in that match. Cage challenges Allin & Sting to a tag match next week with Luchasaurus & himself.

Samoa Joe defeated Roderick Strong (w/Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) in the Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Final

(I’m glad this main event got some time, as I was surprised by the finish initially, but Joe was made into a stone cold killer post match. I can’t begin to tell you how hilarious it was after Strong was being placed on a stretcher and yelled for Adam Cole, who said he was there, but Strong responded that he couldn’t see him. Joe promised to take everything from MJF and this was a pretty darn good start with what he accomplished to end this show.)

Joe continually got the best of Strong in the early going, forcing Strong to regroup constantly with The Kingdom outside. Joe finally had enough and put on a chase; allowing Strong to deliver chops back inside until Joe just mowed Strong down. Strong tried a chop battle, but Joe connected on a headbutt and controlled heading into break. Strong managed to get off some offense, but the commercial was primarily dominated by Joe.

Strong was able to ground Joe after a series of strikes and connect with a missile dropkick for only a one count. Joe was able to fight back with his Manhattan Drop, big boot, running senton combo and flattened Strong with a snap powerslam for two. Strong floated over a powerbomb and hit a series of charging forearms before Joe crumbled. Joe countered an Angle Slam, but Strong connected with a running lariat. Joe easily avoided the Strong Hold and planted Strong violently with a corner Uranage. Bennett briefly sidetracked Joe, who wanted a Muscle Buster, allowing Strong to hit an Angle Slam for two. Strong leapt for a knee strike, but Joe waffled him with a lariat in mid air before sinking in the Coquina Clutch with Strong tapping out rather quickly.

Post match, The Kingdom checked on Strong while Joe took the microphone and said his prophecy has come true. Joe is coming into MJF’s backyard to come for him, beat him up and take everything MJF has, calling him a kid again. Joe reiterated he will take everything from MJF.

Joe went to the back, as The Kingdom was again checking on Strong. Adam Cole rushed to the ring and Strong seemed to take a phantom bump, clutching his neck. Doctors came to the ring, put Strong in a neck brace and stretchered him out with Strong continuing to yell Adam. Bennett & Taven argued with Cole, as they kept Cole from going with Strong and the doctors. Samoa Joe appeared and choked Cole out, screaming to MJF he would take everything from him, as Cole was left lying at the feet of Joe to end the show.

AEW Dynamite live results: Grand Slam eliminator tournament begins

The Grand Slam World title eliminator tournament kicks off on AEW Dynamite tonight.

With Grand Slam two weeks away, the tournament will decide MJF’s opponent for Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York. The eight-man tournament will begin with Darby Allin vs. Nick Wayne and Roderick Strong vs. Trent Beretta on tonight’s episode.

The AEW World Champion MJF will speak to the crowd live tonight in Indianapolis after his successful ROH Tag Team title defense with Adam Cole at Sunday’s All Out show. Samoa Joe is heavily featured in the graphic advertising the segment, so expect follow-up from Sunday’s angle where MJF and Joe brawled.

The winner of the All Out Over Budget Charity Battle Royale Hangman Page will also address the live crowd on tonight’s show.

Jon Moxley defeated Orange Cassidy at All Out to win the AEW International Championship. Tonight, Moxley makes his first title defense against AR Fox. A title match with Kris Statlander defending the TBS Championship against Emi Sakura is also set.

Plus, Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara take on Aussie Open. Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz as the entrance music for Orange Cassidy hits and out walks the now former AEW International Champion, bandaged up after his war at All Out.

The crowd chanted Freshly Squeezed and Thank You Orange, as Cassidy thanked them, saying people told him to stay home, which he wasn’t doing. Championship or not, Cassidy will be there every week because he’s freshly squeezed Orange Cassidy and he does not have a catchphrase. That was going to be the whole segment when the music of Jon Moxley hit and out walks the new International Champion with Claudio Castagnoli, as Cassidy turned back and watched from the stage. Moxley gave Cassidy a nod, as Cassidy watched AR Fox make his entrance with Darby Allin.

Jon Moxley (w/Claudio Castagnoli) defeated AR Fox to retain the AEW International Title

(Solid opening title defense, as the reign of Jon Moxley as International Champion officially begins. Fox got off some of his signature moves, but Moxley controlled a majority of this, as I’m looking forward to the Open Challenges in the future for Moxley.)

The chops and corner punches in bunches by Moxley quickly kept Fox grounded. However, Fox did manage a springboard dropkick and huge dive, clearing the top rope to the floor. Allin & Nick Wayne, opponents in the main event tonight, were watching backstage, as Fox connected with a nice bounce back DDT to a hung up Moxley in the ropes. The match spilled outside, where Moxley tossed Fox over the barricade into commercial.

Fox tried to string together some offense after the break, escaping a rear naked choke into a rolling cutter for a near fall. With Moxley on the floor, Fox vaulted off the ring post into a moonsault, as back inside, Fox hit a 450 splash for two. Fox took too long to follow up, with Moxley hooking a kimura, transitioning into anvil elbows, the King Kong lariat and Death Rider to retain the title. Post match, Darby Allin came to the ring to check on Fox, raising his hand after the effort. Christian Cage & Luchasaurus approached Nick Wayne backstage, as Cage said he watched some of Nick’s father’s work after last week and he’s even worse than he thought. Cage offered mentorship to Wayne, then walked off, asking Wayne to say hi to his mother.

Kris Statlander defeated Emi Sakura to retain the TBS Title

(While this didn’t last long, it was a fun and hard hitting sprint. Sakura got off plenty of offense, while the closing sequence from Statlander showed her finish can come out of nowhere.)

Sakura exploded out of the gates early with a quick Tiger Driver and running cross body that sent Statlander to the floor. Sakura followed that up with another charging cross body against the ring steps. Back inside, a chop battle ensued and that changed to lariats with both women colliding after a hard hitting exchange. Statlander lured Sakura to the apron, this time connecting with a slingshot elbow. Both ladies traded counters with Sakura hitting a reverse spinning neckbreaker and double underhook backbreaker. Sakura tried to go to the corner, but Statlander slammed her down on her face, hit a discus lariat and Wednesday Night Fever to get the win.

-Roderick Strong is backstage with Matt Taven & Mike Bennett, as he’s asked off screen about his parents growing up. Both his parents had struggles and he had to take care of himself, with a BB gun by his side. Wrestling gave him an opportunity to be someone he wasn’t, as no one judged him. Pro wrestling isn’t just a business to him, it’s his everything, which is something Adam Cole knew. Strong grew up alone and he’s going to win the Title Eliminator tournament alone, starting tonight.

Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara) defeated Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis)

(An entertaining match, as the cracks are growing larger and larger between Le Sex Gods. I thought it was hilarious that Jericho & Guevara shoved one another a few times and that was reason enough to bring out security to the ring. I guess you can never be too sure these days.)

Don Callis joined commentary before the match and said he’s like a serial killer who likes to watch his handy work, which is why he’s out to watch Jericho. Davis & Jericho had a stiff back and forth opening sequence, with Jericho getting in clubbing blows that led to Guevara tagging in and hitting a double shoulder tackle before Le Sex Gods pose was hit for the crowd. The posing cost them, as Guevara ate a Snake Eyes before having a chop exchange with Fletcher, but the leap frog combo into a dropkick allowed for a stalling vertical suplex from Jericho & Guevara into commercial.

Davis & Fletcher gained control on Guevara during break, but Guevara’s athleticism allowed him to make a hot tag to Jericho, who ran wild. Davis caught a diving Jericho off the top, as Davis & Fletcher hit a double forearm combo, but when they went for a double lariat, Guevara flew in off the top with a cutter on Davis. Jericho laid out Fletcher with a Code Breaker for two, but a springboard dropkick on the apron sent Fletcher to the floor. Guevara hit a twisting tornillo to wipe out both Davis & Fletcher, as Jericho wanted a slingshot dive of his own, but Guevara was pulled into the line of fire. Back inside, Jericho was dropped with the Dental Plan and Aussie Arrow, but managed a kick out.

Guevara appeared out of nowhere and dropped a charging Davis with a Spanish Fly, as Jericho swept the legs of Fletcher, but couldn’t get the Walls of Jericho, instead eating a Fletcher thrust kick and brainbuster. Again, Jericho charged, but ran right into Guevara on the apron; however, Jericho still managed to pop Fletcher with a Judas Effect to win the match. Jericho tried raising Guevara’s hand post match, but Guevara was upset, as both started shoving each other until security hit the ring to break it up.

-Highlights of the unbelievable Strap Match at All Out is shown between Bryan Danielson & Ricky Starks, who said there’s not a man in this business who can tap him out or match him. Starks wonders when it’ll be his time and says not to hand him a piece of bread and expect him to be fed, he wants a full course meal. Starks is everything he says he is, absolute and he’ll say that until the day he dies. We’re told Bryan Danielson will speak on Collision about this match.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita as Callis said Takeshita is the new big dog of pro wrestling, as there is an easel with a painting underneath. Callis said they will unveil next week who their next target will be.

MJF & Samoa Joe Face to Face Confrontation

MJF asked the Indianapolis crowd Hoosier daddy and was insulted Tony Khan wanted him to wrestle in a few weeks, but realized it was at Grand Slam and started singing a little bit of New York, New York. Right when MJF was about to address him, Samoa Joe’s music hit and out walked the ROH TV Champion. Joe wanted a front row seat to hear what the kid, MJF’s, problem was. MJF said Joe was interested because his entrance music sounded like an ice cream truck. Joe said the last time that happened he was the biggest star on a different network. Joe called MJF kid again and this time MJF said that was creative and asked the crowd if they want MJF to be creative? MJF called him Pillsbury Joe Boy, Samoa Dough and quoted Jambi from Pee-Wee’s Playhouse while insulting Joe’s manhood. Joe once more called MJF kid and MJF said he’ll knock Joe’s teeth down his throat if he says it again. MJF said if anyone knows what he was like as a kid, it’s Joe, as it’s time for storytime with MJF, bay-bay.

When MJF was 19, he had a tryout in Brooklyn for the WWE and knocked it out of the park. He was pulled to the side by William Regal and talked about the story told already briefly. MJF knocked Regal’s ass out and sent him back to NXT where he belongs and he’ll do the same thing to Joe if he’s not careful. MJF was looking forward to meeting the great Samoa Joe, but was instead shoved into a brick wall as Joe laughed. MJF said Joe knew it because he knew he could get away with it, but no longer, as the kid is now full grown. MJF main evented the biggest wrestling show of all time and is the best in this business. If Joe doesn’t stay out of his way, MJF will kill him.

MJF hit his catchphrase, as Joe said he didn’t think MJF was a kid, he thought of him as a little bitch. MJF put away his diamond ring and slapped Joe, who said he wasn’t going to take the bait. Instead, Joe said he’s winning the title eliminator tournament and told MJF to have a nice day. MJF went to walk away, but Joe crotched MJF in the ropes. MJF fought back with a low blow of his own and bit at Joe, who flattened MJF with a Uranage out of the corner and teased a Muscle Buster, but Adam Cole sprinted out to save his brochacho with Joe bailing. Doctor’s ran out at the request of Cole and MJF cried that his left arm was numb. Joe said on the ramp the next time MJF is near him, he’ll rip his arm clean off. As MJF was being helped backstage, Roderick Strong & The Kingdom appeared to berate Adam Cole for caring more about MJF than when Strong was hurt because of Joe. Cole left with MJF, as Strong competes for the first time in nearly two and a half months up next.

Roderick Strong (w/Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated Trent Beretta (w/Chuck Taylor) in a Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Quarterfinal

(An evenly matched battle here, with only the littlest of interference from The Kingdom to sort of keep Strong to his word of winning this on his own. I loved the post match touch by Taven to rush and put the neck brace back on Strong, which Taz said was to keep the neck warm to prevent further injury. We learn Strong will face the winner of Allin & Wayne on Collision this Saturday.)

Excalibur talked about the history of both men’s injured necks, as Strong outwrestled Beretta in the early going. Beretta responded with a leaping Meteora, as a chop and forearm battle started up before Strong hit a signature backbreaker. Beretta hit a corner elbow and Tornado DDT, with Strong bailing outside, clutching his neck. Taven held back Beretta long enough for Strong to blindside, posting Beretta followed by a violent back suplex onto the edge of the apron into commercial.

Beretta managed to fight out of a fireman’s carry and hit rolling Germans and twisting Death Valley Driver that dropped Strong on the side of his head. Beretta wanted a piledriver, but Strong countered into Death by Roderick and a Sick Kick. Beretta fought back with a frankensteiner, which Strong rolled through and nearly got Strong Hold, only for Beretta to escape and hit a half and half. Beretta hit his piledriver, but Strong got a foot on the rope. Strong was able to hit his jumping knee and End of Heartache to win it clean. Taven ran in immediately to put the neck brace back on Strong as The Kingdom raised Strong on their shoulders.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Toni Storm, who was unaware that she cost Ruby Soho the TBS Title at All Out, since there is so many performances she’s done. They can’t look in the past, they must look forward. Paquette said there will be a 4 Way next week with the winner facing Saraya for the Women’s Title at Grand Slam. Storm said Paquette is very nosy and said for Paquette to have her chin up, tits out and watch out for the shoe. Storm left frame and in fact threw a shoe at Paquette. Toni Storm continues to be one of the best characters on the entire AEW roster.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring with Hangman Adam Page and talks about the Over Budget Charity Battle Royal win on the Zero Hour at All Out. Page talked about the Chicago Education Fund and how he used to be a teacher, as he knows how teacher’s are underpaid and underfunded, so he’s glad he could help out. Before Page could say anything else, Swerve Strickland walks out with Prince Nana, who is putting on a dancing clinic on his way to the ring.

Nana excused Schiavone, as Strickland said being in a coffin for two weeks, you have some perspective. Strickland thought of Page and was insulted he was doing charity for the Chicago school system, which will be filled with kids who flunk out anyway. Strickland said Page was on the pre-show when he should be competing for World Titles, since AEW wanted him as a franchise player. Strickland questioned if Page even wants it anymore, with the lack of new gear and lack of merch, but with the new contract he signed, Page is obviously eating good and it shows. Page has gotten comfortable riding in the backseat for The Elite.

If Strickland got Page’s opportunities, he’d be the first black AEW World Champion. Option A, Page rides off into the sunset and let Strickland take that spot while Page is in catering. Option B, Page shows that fire and what cowboy shit is all about. If Page decides to face him, Strickland will walk him like a dog, as he has no empathy towards anyone. Strickland is coming for that spot that Page acts like he doesn’t want. Page said if Strickland wants a match, he can ask for it in the back before storming away. Strickland brought up Page’s wife and child, which caused Page to storm the ring, get in Strickland’s face, but attacked from behind by Brian Cage, who laid Page out with the Drill Claw. I’m really looking forward to this feud between Page & Strickland.

Darby Allin defeated Nick Wayne in a Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Quarterfinal

(Allin gave Wayne damn near everything in this battle and it resulted in a very entertaining main event with Wayne holding his own. At one point Allin couldn’t bring himself to hit a Coffin Drop, but it was interesting he had no hesitation of wrenching the arms of Wayne and stomping on the head repeatedly to lead to the finish. The feud with Cage & Luchasaurus with Allin is far from over and more is certainly left to be told with Wayne’s involvement as well.)

The pin attempts are early and often by both until Allin sent Wayne to the floor of a reverse waistlock. Allin tried his signature low dive, but Wayne moved and Allin landed nearly on his head, crashing into the railing, as the doctor checked on him during commercial. When things returned, Wayne hit a superplex into a fisherman’s suplex combo for a nice near fall. Wayne went for a Frog Splash, but Allin got the knees up and followed with a shotgun dropkick. Allin locked on a Figure Four, but Wayne rolled over and got the rope break. The pace picked up before both tried cross body blocks at the same time and collided into a double down.

A forearm battle started with Allin taking the microphone to say Wayne hits like an 18 year old and demanded Wayne hit him like he wants to win this. Allin put his hands behind his back and Wayne opted for a thrust kick flush for two. The music for Christian Cage hit and out walked Cage & Luchasaurus as Wayne hit a huge somersault dive to the outside onto Allin. Wayne controlled the action during the rest of the final commercial break.

The match spilled to the apron, where Wayne hit a huge hurricanrana off the apron to the floor as Roderick Strong & The Kingdom are watching backstage. Wayne hit a huge Frog Splash off the top and followed with Wayne’s World back inside for a close two. Wayne wanted an avalanche neckbreaker, Allin held onto the top, wanted a Coffin Drop, but couldn’t fit it in himself to do it. Wayne nearly got a flash pin off a Last Supper for two, as Allin blocked Wayne’s World and hit a springboard cross body. Allin hit a Code Red and awkwardly torqued Wayne’s arm behind his back while stomping on the head to lead to Wayne submitting. Cage asked what happens if Allin doesn’t make it to the semifinals? The show ends with Allin staring down Cage & Luchasaurus.

AEW Dynamite live results: All In fallout, All Out go-home show

The International Championship is on the line on tonight’s AEW Dynamite, the first show since All In and the go-home show for All Out.

Orange Cassidy is set to defend the International Championship against Penta El Zero Miedo. The winner will defend the title at Sunday’s All Out pay-per-view against Jon Moxley.

Penta and Cassidy were on the same side of Sunday’s Stadium Stampede match in Wembley Stadium, defeating Moxley’s Blackpool Combat Club, Santana & Ortiz.

Announced for All Out are a TBS Championship match with Ruby Soho challenging Kris Statlander for the title, Miro facing Powerhouse Hobbs, Kenny Omega taking on Konosuke Takeshita, plus Darby Allin challenging Luchasaurus for the TNT Championship, so expect angles to further those matches prior to Sunday’s All Out.

Sunday’s All Out airs from the United Center in Chicago, while tonight’s Dynamite takes place at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with a recap video from All In before Excalibur welcomes us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz.

Jon Moxley defeated Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes)

(An impressive outing for Moxley here, as he’s more than ready to challenge either Orange Cassidy or Penta at All Out. Even in defeat and facing a pretty big size disadvantage, Komander hung in there and kept it competitive. I have a feeling whomever Moxley faces at the PPV, he’s walking away with the International Title.)

Moxley mowed down Komander with a big boot and corner strikes to kick things off, taking a bow to the Chicago crowd. Komander answered by using his speed to send Moxley to the floor and connect with a high cross body. Back inside, Moxley did his big back rake in the corner, but a headbutt knocked Moxley off, allowing Komander to try a Cancun Tornillo, but crash and burn. Komander again tried utilizing his speed during commercial, but Moxley had a cross body scouted and controlled a majority of the break.

Komander countered a powerbomb into a facebuster ala Billy Kidman and tried to follow with lariats, which Moxley absorbed initially until the third one did it. Komander was able to chop Moxley down with kicks and low DDT which led to an impressive lung blower for two. Komander wanted his rope walk 450, but Moxley got the knees up and connect with the piledriver. Anvil elbows led to the rear naked choke, as Komander fought, allowing Moxley to transition into an arm bar for the tap out.

-A video package showcasing Orange Cassidy’s International Title reign is shown. Cassidy said you’d think after All In, he’d take a break, but tonight, he’ll show Jon Moxley why he’s not the same wrestler that he was 4 years ago.

-Post match comments from The Young Bucks at All In are shown, as FTR interrupted and questioned why The Bucks didn’t shake their hands. Matt & Nick said they created All In and they were frustrated they lost. The Bucks were about to shake FTR’s hands, when Bullet Club Gold interrupted and told The Bucks this locker room is for winners. Jay White said there are four of them and four of BC Gold. Wheeler suggested an 8 man tag at All Out and the match has been made.

**********

-Highlights of The Outcasts crumbling at All In is shown and Saraya pinning Toni Storm to win the AEW Women’s Title in front of her hometown and family. Renee Paquette was then backstage with a distraught Toni Storm who said she’s happy for Saraya, but she went off script during her performance and blamed everyone, saying Wembley went tits up and she can’t trust anyone. Storm walked off and chucked her shoe at Paquette.

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara Face to Face

Jericho thanked the crowd for the reaction he received and put over one of the greatest weekends in his career not just as an in ring competitor, but for Fozzy as well. Jericho talked about the shoot record breaking number AEW did for the attendance in Wembley and wanted to address his actions post match, calling Sammy Guevara to the ring.

Jericho wasn’t happy with his actions after losing to Will Ospreay by shoving Guevara. A clip of Guevara clocking Ospreay with the bat as he was in the Walls of Jericho was shown and Jericho realized lie, cheat or steal, Guevara did what he could to help Jericho win. Jericho & Guevara shook hands, as Guevara said it would take more than a little shove to break their friendship. Jericho questioned what he could’ve done differently to win the match, mentioning how Guevara could’ve hit Ospreay with the bat harder. Guevara questioned if Jericho hit the Judas Effect harder, he could’ve won. Guevara left his pregnant wife to be there for Jericho and wondered if it wasn’t for having Jericho’s back, Guevara could’ve actually wrestled on the show.

Things started getting more and more chippy, with Guevara bringing up how Jericho won the AEW title in this very arena, only to lose the title outside of a steakhouse. Jericho wants cooler heads to prevail and said Le Sex Gods should start their road to the AEW Tag Titles. Guevara shook his hand, as the wheels haven’t officially fallen off quite yet, but they’re certainly about to. The crowd seemed disappointed nothing else happened in this segment, as they were ready for each guy to start swinging.

-Backstage Jon Moxley is with Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta to address the main event tonight. Moxley said everything is seemingly about bark, like who has the most titles, nicknames or hashtags. Come All Out, it’ll be who has the most bite.

Eddie Kingston defeated Wheeler Yuta to retain the NJPW Strong Openweight Title

(A relatively quick match, but it was hard hitting while it lasted with Kingston doing a great job of selling Yuta working over the injured arm. We’re definitely headed to Kingston vs. Castagnoli, which continues to build and build for another round in their rivalry.)

Yuta slapped Kingston and went right after the taped up elbow early, really keeping Kingston grounded as they went to a commercial about a minute into the match. It was all Yuta during break, but right as things returned, Kingston blocked a monkey flip and clobbered Yuta to the floor before connecting with a tope. Back inside, Kobashi machine gun chops led to an Exploder, but Yuta blocked the back fist and skinned in the cat into a bridging German for two. Kingston got his knees up on a dive from Yuta and followed with a Saito Suplex for a near fall of his own.

Yuta countered a half and half into an Angle Slam, as Kingston started hulking up, firing off chops with his bad arm. Yuta responded with anvil elbows, but Kingston got his half and half into multiple back fists that made Yuta collapse like a mannequin to get the pin. Post match, Claudio Castagnoli appeared ringside and never made eye contact with Kingston, as he simply helped Yuta to the back.

-A video package of the All In main event is shown with MJF retaining the AEW World Title against Adam Cole. We got post match comments backstage with MJF upset that Cole made him wrestle more than he’s had to in quite a while. MJF also said Tony Khan informed him of a tag team battle royal happening on Rampage to determine who Cole & MJF defend their ROH Tag Titles against at All Out. Also, there will be a tournament to determine who will face MJF for the World Title at Grand Slam on September 20th. MJF said he needs a week off, so he’s going to Paris, eat a baguette and bang some rats before coming back to hit a Kangaroo Kick and double clothesline with Cole to retain their titles.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Sammy Guevara, who was almost immediately interrupted by Don Callis who asks if it’s frustrating dealing with a sociopath like Chris Jericho? Callis tried to congratulate Guevara on his wife being pregnant, but Guevara cut him off and told Callis to get lost.

Story Time with Adam Cole

Cole thanks the crowd for the biggest night of his life and the greatest wrestling show of all time. Despite how great that night was, it wasn’t perfect, as he lost the World Title match, but knows he will get another title shot eventually. Despite MJF’s neck being banged up, he promises the crowd he’ll be ready for All Out. Roderick Strong & The Kingdom barge to the ring, with Strong insulted how Cole cared more about MJF’s neck than his. Cole wonders why Strong is acting like this and questions if it’s due to paling around with The Kingdom.

Mike Bennett interrupted and said it’s time for Story Time with Mike Bennett and brings up his debut in ROH, the night both he & Adam Cole got jobs at ROH together. Cole acts like he doesn’t know The Kingdom, but Cole was at Bennett’s wedding and brings up the roads they’ve traveled, running down Chicago in the process. Cole cares too much about what the idiot fans think and forgot what The Kingdom & Strong have done for him.

Taven cuts off Cole and said he needed The Kingdom to take over ROH before jumping to Bullet Club to pad his pocket book with the merch money. Taven said Cole is a liar and is the same leach he’s always been, latching onto that Melvin MJF. Cole has only cared about himself, which Cole said they know isn’t true and apologizes, but they need to realize MJF isn’t just his friend, but his best friend. Roderick Strong said he’s entering the Grand Slam tournament and doing something Cole couldn’t, that’s beating MJF for the World Title.

Cole said that was a terrible idea with his bad neck and Strong was insulted he finally cares. Bad neck or not, Strong is winning the tournament and breaking everyone’s necks because he’s a wrestling legend. The Kingdom & Strong left and Tony Schiavone on commentary said someone should call the whambulance.

TBS Champion Kris Statlander, Dr. Britt Baker & Hikaru Shida defeated Nyla Rose, Marina Shafir & Emi Sakura

(This was your standard party match that mostly took place during commercial. Statlander looked strong, as the seeds continued to be planted for the Shida & Baker falling out.)

Sakura attacked Shida immediately, but Shida quickly turned the tables and tagged in Baker, who hit a quick sling blade. Shafir took the ref to allow Rose to cheap shot Baker and keep her isolated throughout commercial. Baker managed a rolling neckbreaker to lead to the Statlander hot tag, as the TBS Champion ran wild until Rose & Sakura hit a double team slam. Shida tried to jump in, but Rose ducked a Baker superkick and Shida ate the strike. Rose dropped Baker with a choke slam, tried to do the same to Statlander, who fought it off and sent her to the floor along with everyone else. Statlander went up top and hit a huge cross body on everyone before bringing Shafir back in the ring to hit Wednesday Night Fever for the win.

Baker pleaded her case to Shida outside after the match saying she didn’t mean to hit Shida with the superkick, as Ruby Soho appeared behind Statlander and laid the champ out with No Future, as she held the TBS Title in the air and kissed it before Shida & Baker made the save.

-A video package on Shane Taylor is shown and we learn he will be facing Samoa Joe for the ROH TV Title at All Out.

-A strategy session is shown backstage with Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita, as they go over Kenny Omega’s weaknesses ahead of the match at All Out. Callis is talking about Omega’s bad knees, the hernia surgery and if all else fails; Callis’ backup strategy is using the screwdriver he used on Omega in the cage match earlier this year.

The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn’s Trios Title Celebration

(I need to bring up how the line of the night was made quietly by Excalibur during this segment, as once Bowens welcomed us to The House of Ass; Excalibur said that’s where MJF is currently at in Amsterdam. Taz said he also knew a place named that in Jersey. That was the highlight of this segment and needed to be mentioned.)

Max Caster’s freestyle referenced Mitch McConnell being shaky and also Trump’s mugshot. Gunn said they were low on time, so they have to do this quick and talked briefly about winning the Trios Titles at All In. Caster said it would be fitting to come back to Chicago, where the crowd lifted them up to win the AEW Tag Titles and have a ribbon cutting ceremony. Gunn pulled out a huge pair of scissors and cut the ribbon leading to a new era of the Trios division as Bowens welcomed us to the House of Ass. Caster revealed new Trios Titles that have scissors at the ends of the straps so they can indeed scissor with each other. Bowens said on Collision this week they’ll be defending their Trios titles. The Acclaimed & Gunn all scissored with each other to end the segment.

**********

Orange Cassidy defeated Penta El Zero Miedo (w/Alex Abrahantes) to retain the AEW International Title

(This was an excellent main event that wasn’t hampered by two commercial breaks in the slightest. Cassidy continues to pull out the win, despite his body slowly breaking down more and more after each defense. The rare post match promo from Cassidy was fantastic and showed despite everything he’s been through, he’s ready for Jon Moxley at All Out in what should be a Match of the Night contender.)

A fast opening sequence with roll throughs, arm drags and sweeps that led to an early stalemate. Cassidy got a quick takedown and did his pocket offense to send Penta to the floor. Cassidy wanted a tope, but Penta caught him in a gorilla press in mid air and launched Cassidy into the railing heading to commercial.

We didn’t get picture in picture, as back from break Cassidy hit his tope suicida, but Penta answered with a somersault plancha of his own. Back inside, Penta hit a clever springing leg drop off the bottom rope. Cassidy floated over in the corner and hit a Stundog Millionaire from the apron back into the ring followed by his swinging DDT for two. Penta cut off Cassidy in the ropes and hit a backstabber that took us into another commercial, this time with picture in picture.

Both men traded thrust kicks until Penta hit a sling blade and another thrust kick for two. Penta wanted to snap the bad arm of Cassidy, who fought back and slid his hand into his pocket. Cassidy threw his little offense, only to explode out and both men hit back to back Destroyers, with Cassidy getting one more for good measure. Penta countered Orange Punch into Made in Penta for a close two as we got a double down. Penta wanted Fear Factor, but Cassidy countered into a Beach Break, but didn’t get all of it. Penta blocked another Orange Punch but using a thrust kick and went to the apron.

Penta hit a violent Fear Factor on the edge of the ring, but Cassidy got a rope break at the last second. Penta violently snapped the bad arm of Cassidy back and hit a proper Fear Factor, but Cassidy kicked out. Penta couldn’t believe it, but in hesitating, Cassidy hooked a quick crucifix to get the flash pin.

Post match, Cassidy took the mic and sat down, saying he doesn’t usually talk and his body really hurts. Despite that, Cassidy is still here defending the title, as it means everything to him. That’s what AEW is all about, putting a person who was called different and too skinny and making them champion. Cassidy will defend this title as long as he wants, as Moxley better bring more than a fork as he is Orange Cassidy and he doesn’t have catchphrase. Jon Moxley then strolled to the ring and had an intense face off with Cassidy to close the show.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with a memorial graphic for the legendary Terry Funk as Excalibur welcomes us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, while the music for The Elite hit and we’re ready for our opening contest.

Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. Juice Robinson & The Gunns (Austin & Colten) never officially began

(A wild start to the show, a way to get over not just the six man tag at All In, but also having FTR helping out their challengers for their tag titles in the process. Interesting that there was no Adam Page involved in this at all, as I understand why there was no Ibushi, but the absence of Hangman is interesting. I wonder if both the Dynamite & Collision crews being there tonight had anything to do with it?)

The Elite met Bullet Club Gold on the ramp to start the brawl, as Nick hit a tope to wipe out The Gunns. Robinson hit a chair shot to the ribs, but referee Rick Knox stopped him from using it again, so Robinson laid out Knox. The Gunns & Jay White attacked The Bucks, as Nick was dropped with 3:10 to Yuma. Matt avoided it, threw a couple superkicks, but was dropped by a White uranage. Omega stopped a Blade Runner, as Colten & Austin were planted with Snap Dragons. Omega popped White with a V-Trigger and wanted his Terminator dive, but was taken out by Konosuke Takeshita. Bullet Club Gold continued their beat down until FTR’s music hit and evened the odds with everyone brawling up the stage. Takeshita wanted a home run shot on Omega, who hit a V-Trigger, tried One Winged Angel, but Takeshita bailed and Omega stood tall by himself.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with AEW World Champion MJF and talks about the All In main event in London. MJF said he’s going to be real chubbed up and said he’s the 2023 version of the British Bulldog if he was Jewish and a good public speaker. MJF loves the crooked teeth Brits too and wants them to make as much noise as possible during his match, promising them all a pint, but said he’ll ultimately make that mark Tony Khan pay for it. Paquette asks about the pressure he must be facing this Sunday wrestling twice, as MJF said none of this happened without the people who paved the road prior. MJF mentioned Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sammartino, Dusty Rhodes, John Cena, Stone Cold, The Rock, Triple H, The Undertaker, he’s standing on the shoulders of giants and if he wins Sunday, he becomes a giant himself.

Paquette showed clips of the potential cracks in the friendship between MJF & Adam Cole. MJF said he’s never had a genuine friend before, but Cole taught him he can let his guard down and trust. MJF calls Cole his brother and understands why there are reservations about believing him, asking the crowd to go on this journey with him. MJF isn’t just a scumbag, he’s the fans scumbag.

Jon Moxley defeated Rey Fenix (w/Alex Abrahantes)

(Off the heels of one of the best matches on Rampage against Komander last week, Fenix & Moxley had a fantastic battle here with the crowd into it the whole way. With the news of him being unable to be at All In, they needed to find a way to write Fenix out of the Stadium Stampede match. So I assume it’s safe to say that match will be 5 on 5 going forward, as the returning Santana & Ortiz going against Kingston is a way to further that story.)

Moxley was able to avoid the speed of Fenix early, but was ultimately sent outside with a dropkick and taken out with multiple topes. Moxley got up and tore at the mask of Fenix before hitting a violent curb stomp. Back in the ring, Moxley continued to pick Fenix apart until the quickness nearly put Fenix in control, only to be turned inside out with a Moxley lariat for two into commercial.

Moxley controlled nearly the entire break and planted Fenix with a piledriver for a near fall. Moxley drove the boots down onto the face, but as he turned briefly, Fenix kipped up into a spin kick leading to the double down. The spinning corner kick scored, but Moxley countered a rolling cutter into the rear naked choke. Fenix flipped into a roll up and got his rolling cutter quickly thereafter. Fenix connected with his rewind kick and followed with a massive Frog Splash for two. Moxley fought out of a fireman’s carry into anvil elbows and caught a springing Fenix with a forearm in mid air. A strike battle commenced until Moxley cut off Fenix in the ropes and connected with an Avalanche Death Rider, but Fenix kicked out. Moxley was shocked, but quickly locked in the rear naked choke and Fenix ultimately passed out.

Post match, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta hit the ring with crowbars and were about to have Fenix taken out until Eddie Kingston & Penta El Zero Miedo come down the ramp, but were stopped by a returning Ortiz. The music hit and out walked the also returning Santana, who attacked Penta, while Ortiz smacked Kingston with the sock full of baseballs. As the BCC, Santana & Ortiz bailed as Best Friends & Orange Cassidy came out to make the save, doctors rushed to the ring to tend to Fenix, who apparently was laid out with the crowbar, which cameras missed. The stretcher was brought out and Fenix was loaded up. A very somber Excalibur then promoted Draft Kings before throwing it to a commercial, which I got a kick out of.

**********

-Fenix was loaded into an ambulance as Penta & Alex Abrahantes joined him as Kingston, Best Friends & Orange Cassidy are all left watching it drive away. Renee Paquette approached wanting a comment, but Kingston refused, telling her that her husband did this, saying if she wants him to fix this, he’ll fix this at All In.

-We then got pre-recorded comments of Renee Paquette with Sammy Guevara, asking him about what happened to Chris Jericho at the hands of Don Callis & Will Ospreay last week. Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Daniel Garcia interrupted and said Jericho accepted the offer last week, while Callis was exactly who they thought he was. Guevara said Jericho was about friendship and said he would always have his back. Parker said they are making sure Guevara doesn’t make the same mistakes that Jericho did and questions if Jericho would be there for Guevara? Menard & Parker left, while Garcia took a second to stare at Guevara before leaving as well.

Contract Signing Between Will Ospreay & Chris Jericho

Tony Schiavone announces both men, as security is already in the ring with Don Callis accompanying Ospreay to the ring, as Sammy Guevara was with Jericho. Callis took the microphone and said he did what he did last week because of Will by God Ospreay. The only thing better than having Jericho in his family would be knowing he could end his career. Callis got Ospreay’s help because he promised Jericho’s head on a platter at Wembley. Callis brought up how a few years ago Jericho nearly died in London, but on Sunday, he’s going to make sure Ospreay finishes the job.

Ospreay questions if Jericho is taking this match seriously or is he just using this as a way to get his band to perform live? Ospreay mentions wrestling an indy show a day before All In and said he’s doing this for his family. Ospreay said he’ll be able to say he’s beaten Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega & Kazuchika Okada in the span of two months. His contract is up in 6 months with New Japan Pro Wrestling and talks about how everyone will be vying for his services, as he’s better than The Elite, Bryan Danielson, CM Punk and Chris Jericho. Ospreay respects Jericho’s legacy, but he’s using it as rocket fuel for his future before signing the contract.

Jericho congratulated Ospreay on his recent accomplishments, but said it’s thanks to him. Five years ago, Jericho called Ospreay and told him to tone down his style before he has a short career like his hero the Dynamite Kid as many predicted. Jericho knew before anyone else Ospreay would be one of the top stars in the business, as this match has been in the works for years, but thanks to the lockdown in 2021, it couldn’t happen. Jericho said this is the biggest show of his career and while Ospreay is coming from the bottom, Jericho is coming to this match at the top. Jericho signed the contract, told Osperay to prove it to his family and countrymen that he can beat Chris Jericho. Ospreay slapped the microphone out of Jericho’s hands, but Jericho slapped Ospreay on his ass as security separated the two with the match official.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Adam Cole and immediately shows him some highlights of their blossoming bromance over the past few months. Cole said while he’s had a ton of fun with MJF, it was Max that’s helped him find his confidence again. Paquette talks about the gold Cole could come away with after Sunday is over considering everything he’s gone through with his injury. Cole got into wrestling to become the best wrestler on the planet and winning the AEW Title cements just that. Paquette brings up Roderick Strong & The Kingdom and shows the clip a few months back of Cole telling Strong how he knows he can’t trust MJF. Cole couldn’t believe how people couldn’t understand how people can’t be friends and says there are no issues between MJF & himself before storming off.

Darby Allin & Nick Wayne defeated Swerve Strickland & AR Fox (w/Prince Nana) in a Tornado Tag Match

(While this was a Tornado Tag, it was not filled with weapons like the last one we saw, as this was more of a brawl. I was surprised Wayne got the pin, but post match we found out truly why. It’s interesting that they decided to break Fox off of The Embassy so quickly, but I guess if they needed to even the odds with Strickland’s side & Allin’s side, he’s the one who could’ve switched back. Although it was odd with Wayne & Allin siding with Fox, when a few weeks ago, Fox helped bloody up Wayne at his wrestling school.)

Nick Wayne’s mother is shown in the front row pre-match, as the brawl started immediately with Strickland launching Allin right into ringside. Wayne was crotched in the corner and Fox hit an impressive springing German out of the corner. Fox followed it up with an imploding senton to the floor and ripped his tank top soaked in Wayne’s blood from last month, as Nana threw it at Wayne’s mother. Strickland & Fox wanted double brainbusters on the apron, but Allin & Wayne fought free and Wayne hit a double Wayne’s World off the ropes to the floor, while Allin hit a Coffin Drop heading into commercial.

The match spilled into the crowd where Allin used his body as a wrecking ball, charging and just launching into Strickland. Fox showed the beaten up Wayne to his mother before launching him over the barricade where Strickland hit a snap suplex. In the ring, Strickland & Fox hit rolling Flatliners and Dropkicks, but Wayne tried to fight back with Wayne’s World, only to jump into a powerbomb/neckbreaker combination. Allin sent Strickland to the outside and hit a low tope that nearly sent both men through the bottom of the announce table. Allin took too long to set up Strickland on a chair and ate a Fox vaulting moonsault before Strickland hit a Swerve Stomp off the apron.

Wayne is left in the ring with a bloody nose, where he ate a Strickland pump kick and Fox corkscrew brainbuster for two. Fox connected with a rolling cradle brainbuster, but again Wayne kicked out. Strickland connected with the Kill Shot kick, but once more Wayne kicked out. Fox missed a 450 splash and Wayne got the roll up, as Allin tripped up Strickland while Wayne got the flash pin.

Post match, Strickland was laughing manically and said this was so disappointing, but was disappointing in Fox. Strickland asks why Fox is always a loser and said he can’t beat an 18 year old child like Strickland has. Strickland can’t trust Fox in front of 80,000 people in Wembley and told Prince Nana to do his light work. Nana fired Fox from The Mogul Embassy before Brian Cage appeared and laid out Fox with a Drill Claw. Sting, Darby Allin & Nick Wayne hit the ring as Strickland, Nana & Cage bailed. Allin said Fox was always there for him and told him to shake his hand, as they hugged. Allin asked who does Strickland have, as Luchasaurus & Christian Cage walked out.

Cage immediately took a cheap shot at Nick’s late father and said he’d never heard of Buddy Wayne before, which means he probably wasn’t any good. Since his father was a talentless hack, he doesn’t have much to live up to. Cage made a super distasteful comment about Wayne watching another coffin door close on a loved one. Cage stumbled on his promo at the end; trash talked the crowd and got back on track to wrap it up.

-Renee Paquette is backstage sitting down with The Young Bucks & FTR. Wheeler said this is simply about who is the better team, as The Bucks agreed. Paquette asks if this is the biggest match of either teams careers and Matt & Nick said it absolutely is, but FTR needs to beat them to cement their legacy, The Bucks don’t need to beat them. FTR agrees it’s the biggest match of their career, but this goes beyond the Tag Team championship, as the only team that stands between them and their legacy are The Young Bucks. Matt said if FTR forgot that it was The Bucks who brought them into AEW and said FTR’s legacy will be the guys who The Bucks named on their YouTube show. Harwood said The Bucks call themselves the foundation of AEW; they will crack The Bucks foundation at All In.

Ruby Soho defeated Skye Blue

(A lot of this happened during commercial, but I enjoyed the back and forth finish with Soho jumping into the crowded TBS Title picture. Kris Statlander certainly doesn’t have a lack of challengers for her title heading into the All Out PPV.)

Soho came to the stage with Toni Storm, who went to the back and gave Soho a kiss on the head good luck. Soho cut an inset promo about how Storm & Saraya will be competing for the Women’s Title; Soho has her sights set on someone else and calls out Kris Statlander for the future. Blue cut an inset promo that was cut off because of Soho attacking pre-match. It was all Soho in the early going until forearmed her way out of the corner, sent Soho to the floor where she hit a thrust kick and cross body into commercial.

Soho immediately regained control during break, but ate a spinning low kick and running knee in the ropes by Blue. Going up to the top, Blue connected on a high cross body, went for her Skyfall, but settled for a rolling neckbreaker. After trading nearfalls, Blue was able to hit Skyfall, but Soho kicked out. Soho avoided Code Blue as both ladies traded thrust kicks until Soho hit No Future and Destination Unknown for the win.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Roderick Strong & The Kingdom and asks Strong what he knows that everyone else doesn’t about this Cole & MJF relationship. Strong said at the end of All In, everyone will see who the true MJF is and the true Adam Cole is. That was the entire promo.

-The video of The House of Black shown on Collision about laying out The Acclaimed is shown. Malakai Black said for Billy Gunn to rest in pain, destroying the boots of Daddy Ass. Just then we see Anthony Bowens & Max Caster march down to the ring and called out The House of Black. Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews & Julia Hart obliged, as they made their entrance, surrounding the ring. Bowens & Caster were promptly beaten down before The Acclaimed music hit and Daddy Ass hit the ring with the House of Black bailing. This was one of the biggest pops of Billy Gunn’s career and he’s had some big ones. Daddy Ass said the House wanted his attention, they got it. He was ok with calling it a career until the House hurt his kids and destroyed his boots. The House of Black pissed all over his Hall of Fame legacy, so one more time, it’s all or nothing, at All In, it’s House of Black vs. The Acclaimed & Bad Ass Billy Gunn.

Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) defeated The Hardys (Matt & Jeff) to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles

(The match could’ve been so much more, but there was a lot crammed into this go home episode of Dynamite and the main event action suffered as a result, as it went pretty quick. The main story was the post match and the final will they/won’t they turn on each other between MJF & Cole heading into the main event of the biggest show in AEW history.)

Fletcher & Davis attacked at the bell, but The Hardys quickly turned the tables with Poetry in Motion. The Hardy’s remained in control as they went to commercial after barely being back for 2 minutes. Aussie Open took over and did their signature running around the ring, ramming the backs of their opponents into each other and stayed in control before returning from break. Jeff was able to fight off both men with a Whisper in the Wind and made the hot tag to Matt, who ran wild. Side Effect on Fletcher got a near fall, but as he went for a Twist of Fate, Fletcher spun out. Matt fought Fletcher off in the corner; hit a superplex, Jeff hit a splash off the second, only for Davis to break it up. Fletcher saved his partner in the corner and powerbombed Matt, as Jeff was planted with the assisted Aussie Arrow for the win.

Post match, Davis & Fletcher stood tall, saying there will be no double clothesline or kangaroo kick at All In and Aussie Open will remain the ROH Tag Team Champions bay-bay. MJF & Adam Cole walked out from the back and had a faceoff before a brawl started. Aussie Open had the upper hand, wanted a double clothesline, but MJF & Cole fought back with pump kicks. Davis bailed before he got caught with a double clothesline. Fletcher avoided a kangaroo kick, as MJF saved Cole from a charging Fletcher, but Cole nearly hit MJF with an accidental superkick, pulling it at the last second. Cole & MJF had a face off before MJF shouldered past Cole, put the Dynamite Diamond Ring on and was about to clock Cole, but opted on hugging Cole instead. Cole had a look on his face like he knew what could’ve happened to end the show.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they throw it to the ring where the Jericho Appreciation Society are already there with Matt Menard introducing their leader, Chris Jericho.

The Jericho Appreciation Society Mandatory Meeting

Everyone is wearing black but Jericho, who tried to start explaining himself, only to be cut off by Daniel Garcia, who said he chose Jericho before everyone else and questions why Jericho won’t do the same for them? Garcia thrusted at Jericho and walked to the back, as Jake Hager took the mic and said that everyone knows they have a lot of options. Everyone knows that Hager “liked that hat” but he doesn’t like Jericho and also walks off. Jericho said to the rest in the ring that everyone had to admit they are bigger stars because they joined the J.A.S. Tay Conti said she used to be proud, but not any longer, she feels sick and not because of her child. Conti said she will go and have her baby, come back next year and win the title without Jericho and quits. Anna Jay said tonight she’s being selfish, tonight she’s winning the AEW Women’s Title, it’s not about Jericho.

Conti & Jay walked off as Angelo Parker said he hates doing this, as he loves being a sports entertainer. Parker did everything he could to make Jericho proud, even hanging upside down in Blood & Guts and almost bleeding out last year, but what has Jericho given him? Parker said he has nothing left to give. Menard said Jericho was his childhood hero, whose t-shirt he bought from his first paycheck as a teenager. When his wife was 8 months pregnant, Jericho heard his story and gave him a job. Menard mentions guys like Eddie Kingston & Kevin Steen, who hate Jericho’s guts and now he understands why.

This leaves Guevara, who immediately slapped the mic out of Jericho’s hands and told him to listen. Guevara put Sting through a table because he’s loyal and he’s not walking out on Jericho. Deep down he thought Jericho would do the same for him, but doesn’t know anymore. Guevara said if Jericho decides to do the right thing, maybe he’ll be there for Jericho before he left through the crowd. The segment ended with Jericho alone, with no one to plead his case to.

**********

-Renee Paquette tried to get a word with Chris Jericho backstage but Don Callis appears, apologizing if he caused any of what just happened. Jericho said he has an answer, but wants to tell Callis next week, as Callis said he’ll take care of everything.

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson w/Brandon Cutler) vs. The Hardys (Matt & Jeff w/Brother Zay & Ethan Page)

(I’m happy they got to have this match on Dynamite, as this was a solid opening contest, but not a blow away barn burner. I liked the post match show of respect, as the crowd was into this and cheered both teams throughout. With the lack of tag matches The Bucks have had the past year, this was a good first step ahead of the now official Tag Team Title match happening at All In.)

The Hardys were able to control the action early with double teams that sent Nick to the floor before hitting a double wheelbarrow suplex on Matt for a near fall. A pulling sit out powerbomb in the corner led to a double team cover on Matt that for some reason Rick Knox counted, but Nick broke it up. The Hardys tried Poetry in Motion, but Matt moved and Nick popped Jeff with a corner enzugiri. Nick made the tag and ran wild with his slingshot face buster and moonsault to the floor before laying out Matt Hardy with the Risky Business. Matt faked out a dive and it was Nick that hit a twisting plancha to wipe out both Hardys heading into commercial.

Back and forth action during break with Nick avoiding a Twist of Fate, but Matt Hardy adjusted and spiked Nick with a DDT. Right as Jeff was about to make the tag, Matt Jackson pulled the leg out and The Bucks kept Matt briefly isolated before a double clothesline led to the reset. Both Matt’s slugged it out until Jackson ran right into a Side Effect. Nick & Jeff made simultaneous tags with Jeff dishing out the offense with a legdrop low and snap dropkick to follow. Jeff fought off both Bucks and wiped them out with Whisper in the Wind, but Nick & Matt avoided double Twist of Fates into superkicks and then a 3-D on Jeff. The Hardys avoided the Meltzer Driver and hit dueling Twist of Fates, as Jeff hit a Swanton on Nick for a close two that Matt broke up.

After all of that, Matt Hardy made a legal tag, as Nick was dropped with multiple Twist of Fates, but Matt was able to superkick the leg out from under Jeff, who was going for another Whisper in the Wind. Matt Jackson hit a backslide on Matt Hardy, but rolled through and The Bucks hit the BTE Trigger for the victory.

Post match, The Bucks were about to answer FTR’s challenge from Collision when the AEW Tag Team Champions came out to the ring. After a stare down by both teams, Nick said All In, so the challenge was officially accepted as FTR held their titles high.

-We see footage of Hikaru Shida winning the Women’s Title last week and Excalibur informs us that the title will be defended at All In in a Four Way match. The participants will be Toni Storm, who is exercising her rematch clause, the winner of Saraya & Skye Blue on Rampage, the winner of The Bunny & Britt Baker next week on Dynamite and finally the winner of the Women’s Title match tonight between Shida & Anna Jay.

-Last week Adam Cole & MJF are shown celebrating their announcement of the main event of All In, as Cole has brought MJF to a trampoline park. Cole thinks the place is so cool when MJF seemed visibly annoyed before learning there’s dodgeball. MJF ends up having a field day lighting children up with not only the dodgeball, but with insults as well. Cole said MJF can’t do that, as a little girl walks up, calls them both losers and flips them both off as the bodies of the kids MJF hit with the dodgeball are all laid out behind her. Cole told MJF its ok for one more, as a delighted MJF launched the ball right into commercial. This was a glorious segment; I can’t say enough good things about it. MJF was Adam Sandler in Billy Madison during this video.

**********

-The Blackpool Combat Club are backstage and said they hope the Best Friends learned their lessons after the Parking Lot Brawl on Rampage. Moxley hopes Trent’s mom Sue got the flowers they sent. Tonight, they pick the bones of their kill and bring up PAC, who they trash talk and said it sucks he won’t be at All In. The BCC doesn’t fear death, death fears them.

Jack Perry defeated Rob Van Dam in a FTW Rules to retain the FTW Title

(This match didn’t go long, but I was really entertained by it. RVD got off his greatest hits and Perry was able to weasel his way to a victory. I have no idea if this was a one off for RVD, but it was great to see him back on a big stage again.)

FTW Rules means anything goes, falls count anywhere, as Perry, who is wearing new gear, attacked during RVD’s intro, but RVD fought back and got his leg trap roll up for a quick two. Perry retreated and wanted a handshake, but RVD was having none of it and was about to hit Rolling Thunder, with Perry bailing outside. On the floor, RVD draped Perry over the barricade and absolutely destroyed Perry with a spinning legdrop off the apron into commercial.

Back from break, Perry was in control, but missed Rolling Thunder. A chair was stuck in the corner and table set up on the floor, as RVD hit a huge monkey flip and running dropkick with a chair in the corner. With a chair on Perry, RVD hit Rolling Thunder, but Perry avoided the split legged moonsault. Perry ducked the Van Daminator and Perry chucked a chair right at referee Bryce. Perry cut off RVD in the corner, but was launched off the top through the table on the outside. RVD rolled Perry back inside and hit the Five Star Frog Splash, got the visible pin, but the ref was down. Referee Aubrey hit the ring for the count, as RVD got two and argued the count. This allowed Perry to hit a low blow and send RVD into the corner chair into a school boy for the win.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Lucha Bros and Alex Abrahantes, who said the Lucha Bros fight in the spirit of competition but the BCC fight to hurt people like PAC. Fenix & Penta said tonight they’ll show Moxley & Castagnoli why they’re the best team in the universe.

MJF & Adam Cole make a Zero Hour challenge

MJF welcomed the fans of the Midwest and said previous footage of him saying they are Mid has been heavily doctored. In fact, MJF’s favorite place in the entire U.S. is the Midwest. Cole mentions making history at All In, in a match he’ll beat MJF for the AEW title. MJF asked if Cole wanted to promo battle and said Cole is so skinny and white if this was the 80s, Hogan would’ve snorted him. MJF called him a noodle arm, bobble head, but was cut off by Cole who said he didn’t want a promo battle, as MJF said that he misread the situation.

Cole said he how everyone wanted MJF & himself to win the AEW Tag Team titles, but Cole said he has his eye on another set of tag titles, the ROH Tag Titles, as Cole owes his career to Ring of Honor. Cole ran down his ROH resume and said the only title he never won was the tag titles, which has been held by great teams like the Kings of Wrestling, reDragon & The Briscoes. Cole said they should challenge for the ROH Tag Titles at Zero Hour before All In and head into the main event of the show draped in even more gold. MJF called Cole a sick pervert for wanting him to wrestle twice in one night. MJF said since Cole is his brochacho and he’s a sucker for a cheap pop, as the fans scumbag, they are officially challenging Aussie Open for the ROH Tag Titles at the All In Zero Hour.

Roderick Strong came out from the back screaming, insulted that Cole would want to challenge for the ROH Tag Titles with MJF and not his best friend, a ROH legend like himself. MJF told Strong to get in his car, go home, run up the stairs, cry into his Hello Kitty headphones and listen to Taylor Swift so he can Shake It Off like a bland b*tch. Strong asked if Cole was going to allow MJF to talk to him like that and said The Kingdom was right about him. Matt Taven & Mike Bennett walked out and hugged Strong as MJF said Cole didn’t need him, as Cole shoved MJF and said he didn’t need to say that to Strong as he’s both of their friends. MJF had to be calmed down and they hugged it out before MJF told Cole to go check on his boy.

Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli defeated The Lucha Bros (Penta el Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix w/Alex Abrahantes)

(Commentary really put over early how it was Castagnoli responsible for PAC’s injury and this action packed tag match is the second dominating victory for the BCC in the past week. The momentum they lost at Blood and Guts has been regained, as Moxley & Castagnoli have been killers, first at the Parking Lot Fight and now tonight.)

Fenix & Penta snuck up from behind and wiped out Moxley & Castagnoli with double dives to gain control right at the opening bell. Penta delivered a top rope double stomp to Castagnoli, while Moxley was flattened by another Fenix dive, which to the surprise of no one, busted Moxley opened. Penta connected with Made in Penta, but Castagnoli kicked out at two. Castagnoli ducked a double superkick and the Lucha Bros collided, as Moxley made the tag and dropped both with a double DDT. Penta spun out of a Death Rider into Sling Blade, as Castagnoli was backed up by referee Aubrey in the ropes, allowing Yuta to pop Fenix in the head with the ROH Title. A press slam into a cutter led to Fenix being isolated during commercial.

Back from break, Fenix was planted with a spike piledriver and Taz talked about how he broke his neck because of a move like that. In a Doomsday Device position, Moxley missed the clothesline and Fenix hit a roll up double stomp onto Castagnoli. Penta ran wild off a hot tag with a cazadora face buster on Moxley and backstabber on Castagnoli. Fenix made the tag and the match broke down before Moxley laid out Penta with a cutter, Fenix kipped up into a huge superkick before all four men were down. Fenix & Castagnoli had a strike battle that led to the comeback spin kick from Fenix as Penta leapt off the top, but was uppercut in mid air.

It was Penta & Moxley’s turn to chop it out, as they teed off on one another before Moxley was planted with a double team stalling piledriver. Right in front of the ref, Yuta grabbed Fenix on the top rope, as Abrahantes started going at it with him, only for Yuta to get hit with a moonsault. As Penta wanted Fear Factor, Castagnoli ripped the mask off, which allowed Moxley to get a roll up and the tights to win it. Post match, The BCC kept attacking, with Castagnoli wearing Penta’s mask as it happened. Moxley screamed that zero respect is what happens.

-Kenny Omega is backstage walking when Alex Marvez approaches and talks about The Young Bucks challenging FTR at All In. Omega said next week he’s sitting down with Jim Ross to discuss his future, Don Callis, Konosuke Takeshita and plans for All In. Marvez wanted a scoop, but he didn’t get it.

The entire Mogul Embassy made their way to the ring, as Prince Nana ran down the crowd before Swerve Strickland talked about how he, Fox & Nana went to the Buddy Wayne Academy to prove a point and said everyone knows whose house it is. Fox immediately called out Darby Allin, who came out and demanded Fox tell the whole story about how Allin tried to help Fox when he needed it. Fox got to AEW by himself, but is upset Allin didn’t put a word in for him, instead for Nick Wayne. While Fox might have some new friends, Allin has friends too. The lights went out and when they came on, Sting was in the ring, leveling The Gates of Agony & Brian Cage with a bat. AR Fox bailed, as Sting was left alone with Strickland. Sting pointed up to the All In sign, as Strickland was pulled out by Nana as Sting & Allin stood tall. The challenge has been made for London and we learn that Tony Khan made it official, Sting & Allin vs. Strickland & Fox in a Coffin Match.

Hikaru Shida defeated Anna Jay (w/Matt Menard & Angelo Parker) to retain the AEW Women’s Title

(Every week a match suffers from a lot of it taking place during commercial and unfortunately it was the main event this week. The ending was a little awkward, but Shida ultimately got her first title defense in front of an arena of fans, something she never really got to do during her first title regin.)

Excalibur mentioned how Jay’s debut match in AEW in 2020 was against Shida, as a jumping knee staggered Jay early, following up with ten corner punches. Jay wiggled free and was shoved over the top to the outside where Menard & Parker were quick to trash talk. Jay controlled the entire commercial break, but Shida fired back with a running elbow right when they returned.

Jay rolled to the apron and Shida tried to suplex her back in, but Jay hit a spin kick instead. Both ladies fought on the apron, as Shida hit a pump kick before pulling a chair from under the ring. Shida set it up to launch off of, but Parker jumped in front to run distraction that allowed Jay to smash Shida into the steps. Back inside, Jay got a two count before applying a Queen Slayer, but Shida climbed to the second rope with Jay still on her back and fell off to break the hold. Shida hit the Falcon Arrow, but Jay kicked out. Shida hit the Kitana knee and the ref counted three, despite Parker awkwardly trying to slide in to break up the count.

The 200th episode of AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as Judas hits and Chris Jericho & Konosuke Takeshita make their way out along with Don Callis, who nearly got caught with pyro on the ramp.

Chris Jericho & Konosuke Takeshita (w/Don Callis) defeated Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia

(I enjoyed the story told here in the opener, as Jericho somewhat reluctantly made his choice between the J.A.S. and Don Callis’ Family. The situation forced Jericho to make a decision, whether he wanted to or not. While he didn’t see the interference, he accepted it and got the win as a result.)

Guevara & Jericho traded chops early until a misdirect jumping knee from Guevara led to a Le Sex Gods pose from he & Garcia. When Garcia tagged in, he thrusted at Jericho and demanded Takeshita make the tag. Takeshita put on the boosters early and hit a leaping clothesline before mocking the thrusting by Garcia. With Garcia down, Jericho tagged in and slapped Garcia, only waking him up. Callis tripped the leg and Garcia ran right into a big boot with Jericho unaware of the trip heading into commercial.

After being isolated the entire break, Garcia got the knees up on a Lionsaut which allowed Guevara to make the hot tag and meet Takeshita with a huge cross body. Both Takeshita & Jericho were tossed to the floor and Guevara hit back to back dives leading to a huge Frog Splash back inside for two. Jericho & Guevera had a scrap before Garcia bolted in with a tackle on Jericho while Takeshita hit Guevara with a Blue Thunder Bomb. After Guevara avoided the Walls of Takeshtia, he caught an incoming Jericho with a Spanish Fly. Guevara got the tag to Garcia, who ran right into a Code Breaker for two.

Garcia was sent to the corner and exploded out with a flying knee, as Takeshita was sent outside again by Guevara, who hit a massive Shooting Star to the floor and his elbow popped Takeshita right in the face. Back inside, Garcia tried for the Dragon Slayer, while referee Aubrey for some reason turned her attention to the floor. This allowed Don Callis to crack Garcia with the baseball bat and Jericho was visibly displeased at first, but decided to get the cover and the win.

-Backstage Tony Khan thanks the fans for watching the 200th episode of Dynamite on the road to All In at Wembley Stadium in London. We weren’t told how fans will be able to watch All In, but instead threw it to a video package highlighting the history of Dynamite thus far.

-Renee Paquette tried to get a word with Chris Jericho backstage when a furious Daddy Magic Matt Menard stormed up and said next week is a mandatory J.A.S. meeting.

Jack Perry & Jerry Lynn Face to Face

Tony Schiavone introduced Perry to the ring and he was booed loudly as he ripped the microphone away and demanded Jerry Lynn come out and get his ass kicked. Lynn came to the stage and said as much as he’d like to make an example of Perry, it’d be child abuse. Lynn said he doesn’t run the show, but no doctor would clear him to get in that ring. Instead, Lynn called a good friend from ECW who still does wrestle, which got huge RVD chants. The sounds of Pantera’s ‘Walk’ hit and Rob Van Dam made his way to the ring to his old ECW entrance music. RVD & Perry had a face off, but Perry retreated as RVD & Jerry Lynn posed in the ring. Perry tried a sneak attack with a chair, which RVD nearly hit a Van Daminator, but Perry dodged and bailed again through the crowd, literally hiding behind a child.

-A video package on the upcoming AEW Women’s Title match is shown between Toni Storm & Hikaru Shida.

Trent Beretta defeated Jon Moxley & Penta El Zero Miedo (w/Alex Abrahantes) in an Anything Goes Match

(Well, if you didn’t like the violence from Blood & Guts a few weeks ago, this probably wasn’t the match for you. If you did, this match delivered huge, as this was violent, brutal and set up the next chapter in the new rivalry with The BCC & Best Friends as a bloody Beretta got easily the biggest singles win in his AEW career so far. I was hoping for a Sue cameo, but with what is set up for Rampage, perhaps she’ll show up then.)

Beretta immediately took out Moxley with a dive and Penta quickly followed with one of his own to kick things off. Weapons are placed all over ringside as Penta waffled a charging Moxley with a trash can shot and Beretta as well. Penta posed too long and ran into a Cutter by Moxley, who grabbed a barbed wire 2×4 under the ring. Before he could use it, Penta hit a backstabber, but Beretta broke it up. Moxley took Beretta down and used the barbed wire 2×4, hitting a piledriver onto it, landing more on his own back instead. Beretta fought back with a back suplex onto the barbed wire as Penta & Abrahantes set up tables ringside. Beretta, bleeding now, was set up on the tables, but Penta was cut off in the ropes by Moxley and his barbed wire. Beretta joined and hit a massive superplex on Moxley through the tables as they went to commercial.

Penta set up more tables during break and we had a three way slugfest when we returned. Beretta wanted a superplex on Penta through the table, but Penta countered into a wild Avalanche Destroyer through the table. Moxley pulled Penta up and tackled him through the other table set up. Moxley grabbed a bag under the ring and dumped out thumbtacks before ripping off Penta’s shirt. Moxley & Penta traded finisher attempts until Moxley hit a piledriver onto the tacks for two. A flipping suplex onto the tacks followed, as Moxley sacrificed himself to hit a Cutter on Beretta on the tacks. Beretta countered a piledriver and laid out Moxley with a Crunchie onto the tacks, but Penta chucked a trash can at Beretta to break the pin. Another three way slugfest ensued before Beretta ate a King Kong Lariat into the tacks leaving Moxley & Penta to duke it out. Moxley hit a Paradigm Shift on Penta, but Beretta flew in with a flying knee and picked the scraps, pinning Penta.

Post match, Moxley trapped Beretta in the rear naked choke as Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta made their way through the crowd but were met by Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor. The BCC were beating down Cassidy & Taylor ringside before Beretta came flying off the top to wipe them all out. The BCC retreated, but not before Cassidy popped Moxley with an Orange Punch. Taylor said this all didn’t accomplish anything, so Best Friends challenge Moxley & Castagnoli to a Parking Lot fight on Rampage. This would be the second Parking Lot fight in AEW, with the first being Best Friends classic against LAX a few years back.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Rob Van Dam, who said he’s in AEW because he heard Jack Perry run his mouth. Next week, RVD challenges Perry for the FTW Title. When RVD wins the title, he’ll retire the title as he doesn’t see it getting bigger than with Rob…Van…Dam.

MJF & Adam Cole’s All In Announcement

MJF came out to a loud ovation from the crowd and said pardon him, as he’s getting a little emotional. MJF said he had A.D.D. and Rejection Sensitive Disorder, meaning his brain is structured different and can’t regulate rejection based emotions or behaviors making life sometimes difficult. MJF said there is a lot about his past the fans don’t know and a lot of it he’s blacked out, but a memory he held was when he was bullied as a child. He thought the only way to protect himself was to attack people before they could attack them. MJF realized being a scumbag is easy, but not the way to go as he did it because he was scared. He’s not scared anymore because of the fans, who showed they cared about Max and had sympathy for the Devil. MJF said he’s still a scumbag, but he’s ready to be the fans scumbag. This got “He’s Our Scumbag” chants from the crowd. One person taught him he could trust, be vulnerable and deserves a friend, as he introduced Adam Cole, his best friend.

Adam Cole walked out with no entrance music and said he appreciated MJF sharing his story and the man he’s become, saying he’s not alone. For years Cole was a jerk because he was scared, but put over MJF becoming the man he’s destined to be, as deep down there’s a good guy in there. Cole and the fans are proud of him, as MJF thanks Cole for performing verbal fellatio on him, but he’s still a scumbag. MJF brings up how he promised Cole a World Title match last week, but he thought about it and Cole doesn’t deserve a match, he deserves THE match, at All In. MJF has a contract and said there’s no one else he’d want to make history with than Cole. Without reading it, Cole signed the contract, as both men hugged, we get a graphic on the big screen and each posed in corners. We see Roderick Strong backstage going nuts, throwing everything when Matt Taven & Mike Bennett walked up saying Cole always forgets about his true friends before walking off. Cole, of course, has history in ROH being members of The Kingdom.

With the main event of All In seemingly set, Excalibur told us All In will be on traditional PPV, Bleacher Report, cable & satellite providers, international Fite TV and more.

Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defeated Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh (w/Sonjay Dutt & Karen Jarrett)

(This match was crammed with a whole lot of bells and whistles the second half, but we were robbed of the probably impossible visual of Omega doing a One Winged Angel on Singh. Post match, I got a kick out of the little smirk Omega gave when they mentioned Collision.)

Never thought I’d say this in 2023, but Jeff Jarrett & Kenny Omega started things off with Jarrett hitting an early bodyslam and Fargo Strut. Lethal tagged in and was quickly taken down, allowing The Bucks to make fast tags. A pop up hurricanrana and double dropkick led to Singh making a tag and a fired up Matt quickly realized his mistake, so he tagged in Nick. The Bucks hit multiple dropkicks until Singh just hit a cross body that wiped out both Jackson’s. Singh, Lethal & Jarrett all mocked The Elite pose as they went to break isolating Nick.

Nick managed to get the hot tag to Omega after commercial, dropping Lethal with You Can’t Escape, but Lethal got the knees up on the moonsault with Singh running distraction. Lethal Injection avoided by The Bucks, who dropped Lethal & Jarrett with superkicks and chopped down Singh with superkicks until Omega popped the big man with a V-Trigger. Omega signaled for One Winged Angel until Karen Jarrett took the ref, allowing Sonjay Dutt to cut off Omega. Lethal Combination connected on Omega as Brandon Cutler sprayed the cold spray into the face of Karen. Matt & Jeff Hardy ran to ringside and dispatched of Dutt, while Jarrett was about to guitar shot Omega, but Hangman Page appeared and hit a Buckshot Lariat. Lethal tried a guitar shot of his own, but ate a V-Trigger and One Winged Angel by Omega for the pin. The Elite stood tall as Nick wailed on the guitar when their music played.

Post match, Omega handed Page a microphone, who said for those unaware The Elite had resigned with AEW. Omega said whether it be Dynamite, ROH, Rampage or even Collision, you’ll be seeing more of them in AEW and did his Goodbye & Goodnight line.

-Mogul Embassy is backstage and AR Fox said if Darby Allin and he were so close, why didn’t Allin get him into AEW in the first place and not talk to him for five years. Swerve Strickland told the cameras to cut to a movie they made, as we saw Strickland & Fox showing up at the Buddy Wayne Academy where Nick Wayne was training. Strickland asked what does the Fox say, as Fox chucked a skateboard at a trainee while Wayne, who put up a brief fight, was blasted with a bottle. Strickland showed the camera a photo of Wayne with his father and laid it down as a busted open Wayne crawled to his phone. Strickland made Wayne call Allin, who picked up and asked why Allin didn’t get Fox signed years ago when he could’ve. The ghosts of Allin’s past are here to haunt him, as this is just the beginning. Wayne was left in a pool of blood as they left. This was wild stuff to say the least.

Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) defeated El Hijo del Vikingo & Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes) to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles

(My goodness was this match action packed and the crowd was on fire for it. I did think we were getting a title change towards the end there, but Fletcher & Davis were too much for the high flyers. This was an excellent tag team battle.)

A lighting quick start from Vikingo, who sent Fletcher to the floor as Komander walked off Vikingo’s shoulders onto a hurricanrana on Davis, who regrouped outside with Fletcher. Back inside, Komander was caught with a fireman’s carry punt kick, but couldn’t isolate him long, as Komander lowered the top rope and sent Fletcher again to the floor. Komander wall walked Davis, who was sent to the outside by a springing Vikingo. Fletcher found himself hung up in the ropes and Vikingo hit a guillotine legdrop. Both tried double dives, but were caught by Davis & Fletcher, who ran around ringside and colliding both together.

Komander was isolated during break, as Vikingo made a hot tag, but was quickly flattened with a double superkick in mid air. A running up and over slam from Davis & Fletcher got only two, as Vikingo was sandwiched with a double forearm shot. While Vikingo was in a fireman’s carry, Komander came flying in off the back and hit a leaping Destroyer on Fletcher while Vikingo hit a Crucifix Bomb on Davis. Aussie Open was sent to the floor, as Vikingo & Komander both did a rope walk into moonsaults outside. With Davis down inside, Vikingo & Komander hit a double 450 splash, but Fletcher broke it up. Fletcher & Vikingo spilled outside, as Komander tried his rope walk Shooting Star, but missed, as Davis & Fletcher connected with Coriolis to retain the titles.

Hikaru Shida defated Toni Storm (w/Saraya & Ruby Soho) to win the AEW Women’s Title

(It was only a matter of time before all the interference blew up in The Outcasts faces and tonight was that night. The crowd was very much behind Shida and it paid off huge, as a new champion was crowned in what turned into a fun main event. Commentary really put over how Shida was champion when fans weren’t there and now in her second title reign, will get to fulfill that dream.)

Both ladies traded forearms to start before Storm regrouped with The Outcasts. Back inside, Shida drapped Storm on the edge of the apron and hit a running knee before sending Storm into the guard rail. Shida tried for punches, but Storm slipped out and dropped Shida head first on the railing. In the ring, Storm was suplexed into the corner and then suplexed proper as Shida tried to regroup, but was still dazed by running into the railing. Storm got control and hit a running hip attack to send Shida out to get briefly beat up by Ruby Soho & Saraya, who is extra loud tonight with her screaming. Storm stayed in control during the final picture in picture of the night.

Shida avoided Sweet Cheek Music in the corner and hit a release German to follow. An enzugiri sent Storm to the corner and Shida hit multiple running knee strikes before finally getting her ten corner punches. Shida hit a missile dropkick for a two count, as Shida connected with a Meteora for a close near fall. Shida wanted a superplex, but Saraya took the ref, Soho tripped up Shida and Storm connected with a Tornado DDT. Storm connected with a violent Sweet Cheek Music and DDT, but Shida still had fight.

Both ladies had a battle of chops and forearms until Shida popped Storm with a pumping knee and Falcon Arrow for two. Saraya tossed the kendo stick in the ring right in front of the ref, as Storm dared Shida to hit her with it to get disqualified. Shida instead smacked Soho on the apron with it. As the ref turned to take the kendo stick away, Storm blinded Shida with the spray paint, hit Storm Zero, but Shida kicked out to a loud ovation. Storm wanted another Storm Zero, but Shida was able to backdrop out and get a high stack for the flash pin and the title. Confetti rained, as Shida, who carried the women’s division during the pandemic era, gets the opportunity to do so now in front of fans.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they run down the card for the evening before going to a video package about the history between Darby Allin & AR Fox. The advice that Fox gave to Allin is documented, as Allin put over how Fox gave him a place to stay for free while training. Allin said if anyone deserves a shot, it’s AR Fox, as without him, there might not be a Darby Allin.

Orange Cassidy defeated AR Fox to retain the AEW International Title

(An action packed opener, with the crowd showing support for both guys throughout. The post match was very interesting, as the attack by Fox was very unexpected and led to Darby Allin questioning why his friend would do what he did after he vouched for Fox to get this title shot.)

This is Fox’s sixth title match in AEW, as he was previously unsuccessful in four Trios Title bouts and one TNT Title match against Samoa Joe last November. Meanwhile, this is Cassidy’s 27th title defense of the International Title as Excalibur runs down all the injuries Cassidy has suffered over the course of his reign. Fox tried keeping Cassidy grounded early, but Cassidy responded with the hands in pocket mind games and powdered, only to eat a quick moonsault to the floor by Fox. Back inside, Fox used his speed to hit a roll through suplex, which Cassidy countered into a Stundog Millionaire. Fox answered by kicking out of the corner with a leaping cutter and twisting brainbuster for a near fall. Fox stayed in control for a majority of the commercial break.

Cassidy fought out of a third neckbreaker by Fox before both traded big boots to the face. Each man blocked cutter attempts before hitting a double neckbreaker for the reset. Cassidy went up and over in the corner and repeatedly slammed Fox head first into the buckle. Fox sent Cassidy to the outside and hit a huge somersault dive and senton back inside for a close two. Cassidy countered Lo Mein Pain into a dive outside of his own and spinning DDT back in the ring that led to Beach Break, but Fox kicked out. Fox blocked the Orange Punch, set Cassidy up in the corner and hit Lo Mein Pain for a close near fall of his own. Cassidy rolled to the apron, but Fox was there to hit a Rolling Thunder and DDT back inside. Fox missed a top rope 450, seemed to tweak his ankle, allowing Cassidy to wrench at it and get the Mouse Trap for the victory. Post match, Cassidy put his sunglasses on Fox, who snapped them in half and attacked Cassidy as a furious Darby Allin screamed at Fox at the ramp asking him what that was about and Fox didn’t have an answer.

After all that, Cassidy was trying to recover when Jon Moxley ran through the crowd and laid out Cassidy with the Death Rider, as Excalibur talked about Cassidy getting involved at the end of Claudio Castagnoli’s match in ROH Death Before Dishonor.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Chris Jericho & Don Callis, who talked about fans wanting Jericho to becoming part of Callis’ family. Callis said for Jericho to imagine a dream team with Konosuke Takeshita and Jericho said he’s willing to give it a try. Callis said their opponents will be Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara as Callis said that Jericho wanted them to spread their wings, as Jericho reluctantly accepted. Callis commissioned a work of art of their 1995 promo with Bad News Allen and there’s a painting shown of Bad News in the sky looking over Callis & Jericho.

A brief video of HOOK walking and taking a seat at the subway is shown before the subway speeds past and HOOK was gone.

Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta cut a PSA backstage telling kids not to play with fire or mess with the Blackpool Combat Club. Castagnoli said the beating PAC suffered at Death Before Dishonor is nothing compared to what he’d get when they cross paths again. Jon Moxley walked in and gave a warning to Lucha Bros & Best Friends, who will pay tonight for PAC’s mistake.

Jack Perry addresses HOOK & the FTW Title

Tony Schiavone introduced the new FTW Champion, who walked out with his Beethoven’s 5th Symphony playing and new I Beat HOOK shirt. Schiavone got the crowd to start really booing Perry, who said after one loss, HOOK realized he can’t hang with the big boys, so he’s now on the train to nowhere. The FTW Title wasn’t what Perry was talking about when he said he wanted to win gold in 2023 in AEW and said as soon as he put his hands on the title, it became the real deal. Perry said he is the best wrestler ever to hold the title and ran down Taz and his friends.

This brought out Jerry Lynn, who said in ECW, they paved the way for the current generation. Without ECW, there never would have been a Jungle Boy and told Perry to keep running his mouth; it will get his ass kicked. Lynn squared up, but Perry said he’s not dressed to fight, instead challenging Lynn to show up next week. next week before leaving. So I guess we’re getting Jack Perry against Jerry Lynn? Who had that on their 2023 Wrestling Bingo card? I certainly wasn’t expecting that.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Britt Baker, asking her reaction to Taya Valkyrie’s comments on Collision. Baker thanked Valkyrie and said she’s excited for their first time meeting, but will drag Valkyrie to the deep end and remind everyone that TBS is The Britt Show.

PAC submitted Gravity

(While most of this happened during commercial, the internet did get it’s reference to the irony of this match being booked in the first place. And as a bonus, we got Taz singing a little John Mayer. This was pretty much a dominating showing needed to put PAC back in the win column in AEW.)

During his entrance, Gravity actually acted like he was walking on the moon. PAC brilliantly tried to reintroduce himself to Gravity, as he was previously known as The Man That Gravity forgot. Taz meanwhile, shoe horned and briefly serenaded us with John Mayer’s ‘Gravity’. Gravity used his speed to send PAC to the floor early and tried to play mind games, only to eat a dropkick through the ropes by PAC, who stayed in control the entire picture in picture.

Back from commercial we saw the Blackpool Combat Club watching from their locker room. Gravity fought out of the corner with a leaping cross body, but PAC responded with a series of kicks. Both men went to the top and PAC connected with an avalanche brainbuster and quickly got the submission using the Brutalizer.

-We see post match comments from Renee Paquette with the Blind Eliminator Tournament winners MJF & Adam Cole. When Cole was about to start the promo, MJF cut him off and trash talked both members of FTR, mocking Dax Harwood constantly cutting the same promos and MJF will punch him so hard in the face he’ll spit out CM Punk’s jockstrap. The only initials that matter aren’t FTR, it’s MJF. Cole said never in a million years did he expect to be friends with MJF and said he has nothing to worry about with touching the AEW World Title post match. Cole said MJF is becoming one of his best friends and MJF said win, lose or draw, he wants Cole to know he’s getting a rematch for the World Title. Roderick Strong stormed in and shoved MJF, saying Cole shouldn’t trust him. Cole told MJF to leave as he said he loves Strong, but he’s pushing Cole away because he’s showing he doesn’t trust him.

**********

-Comments from FTR last week are shown with Renee Paquette as Wheeler said he’s excited about Collision on Saturday, but feels bad Adam Cole has been dragged into this. They respect Cole, but they hate MJF, calling him a generational ass kisser. Everyone who has been with MJF, including his fiancé, once they get to know him, they leave him. Harwood said he won’t get gimmicked up like MJF, since this is real to him. At Collision, MJF won’t make a mockery of professional wrestling and he’ll beat the sh*t out of Max on Saturday. Harwood apologizes to Cole, but says they are beating them at Collision.

Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) defeated Darby Allin (w/Nick Wayne)

(These two continue to add to their great series of matches, as this was just as wild as you’d expect. The Death Valley Driver spot was unreal and I question how Allin’s spine wasn’t broken, which, that’s not the only time I’ve questioned that in his matches. The finish you could really see coming after the opener tonight and it’s a way to actually do something with AR Fox, who, up to this point, had been just another guy on the roster. Aligning with Strickland hopefully allows him to break out a little bit going forward.)

After an early back and forth, we nearly saw an identical ending to the Royal Rampage on Friday with Allin on the apron this time, with Strickland diving to the outside, only to eat a Code Red as a result. Allin chucked Strickland into the steps, repositioned them, but Strickland reversed a whip, Allin cleared the steps, as Strickland launched off the steps with a massive House Call kick. Strickland controlled the entire break, working over Allin’s wrist and taunting Wayne in the process.

Strickland connected on a roll through Flatliner and huge suplex before both men traded a series of roll ups ending with Strickland kicking out of the Last Supper. Strickland rolled to the apron and Allin speared him through the ropes and landed right on his head on the outside in the process. Back inside, Strickland rolled out to the floor again and this time caught a charging Allin with a knee lift in mid air. Back inside again, Strickland hit a Swerve Stomp, but Allin kicked out. Both men went up to the top and Allin managed an avalanche over the top stunner sending Strickland to the apron. Allin wanted a Coffin Drop, but Strickland pulled out the feet and hit an unreal and violent looking Death Valley Driver off the second rope onto the edge of the ring.

The referee was distracted by Nana & Wayne, as Allin was about to roll back into the ring, but a hooded ring attendant shoved him into the ring post and put back into the ring. Strickland connected with the JML Driver to get the win. The masked man was AR Fox, who attacked Allin & Nick Wayne post match, trying a move with Allin’s skateboard and failing miserably. Prince Nana presented a Mogul Embassy shirt to Fox, who proudly put it on.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Anna Jay & Tay Conti as Chris Jericho walked up and told them all to come into his dressing room. The painting Don Callis presented Jericho earlier is hung up and Jericho said forget about that, asking how the baby is to Tay Conti, who said the baby is fine, but asks what is going on with Jericho? Parker was about to give back his comb to Jericho, but said not quite yet. Anna Jay said Jericho is being selfish and said like Hager said; they can’t give Jericho their 100%. Everyone but Menard left, who told Jericho to figure things out, fast, before leaving himself.

Britt Baker submitted Taya Valkyrie

(Sometimes things just don’t gel right and this was one of those times. Both ladies tried hard, but that messed up spot early turned the crowd. While they did get them back with the forearm exchange, it just seemed things were off. Regardless, this was a needed win for Baker, who continues to get back on the winning track following an early elimination in the Owen Hart Tournament.)

Baker worked an early headlock, but Valkyrie used her power to gain control with her running corner knees. With the wrist trapped, Valkyrie fired off stiff chops and short arm lariat, but Baker tried a misdirect, only to sort of fall to Road to Valhalla. The crowd booed, as the whole spot looked really clunky, so I’m not sure whether or not Valkyrie was supposed to hit a proper one. Regardless, Baker’s didn’t get up enough, so Valkyrie just mounted and dished out strikes heading into break.

When they returned, the crowd still was booing, as Valkyrie was trapped in a Baker cravat and ate knee strikes. Valkyrie was sent into the corner, stumbled out and Baker hit a rip cord strike, only for Valkyrie to kick out at one. A forearm battle commenced as both ladies traded kicks and Valkyrie just dove for a lariat. Baker wanted Panama Sunrise, Valkyrie countered into a Northern Lights, but Baker got back in control, tried again and got the Panama Sunrise for two. Baker took too long putting on her glove and Valkyrie hit a Spear, wanted Road to Valhalla, but Baker spun out into Lock Jaw for the win.

The Lucha Bros (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated Claudio Castagnoli & Jon Moxley and Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta)

(A pretty jam packed main event, with the story playing a lot into what happened after the ROH Title match at Death Before Dishonor. That is where the bad blood started, as Castagnoli & Moxley once again found themselves on the losing end to close Dynamite, an unfamiliar territory for them as commentary said. I wouldn’t have minded Best Friends getting a win here, but if the story plays eventually more into PAC bailing on the BCC, it makes sense his Death Triangle buddies got the win here.)

Lucha Bros & Best Friends started fighting before The BCC even got to the ring, as the brawl was on with everyone. Taylor & Moxley brawled up the ramp before everyone else joined on the floor and Taylor hit a somersault dive off the stage onto the pile. Back to the ring, Fenix & Castagnoli had a nice exchange with Fenix doing a massive springboard arm drag, only to eat a Sexy Chuckie Knee from Beretta. Moxley jumped in with a cutter and Castagnoli cleaned house on everyone else with uppercuts. Fenix fell back into a tag from Beretta, who tackled Fenix for revenge of getting whacked in the face with a chair at Death Before Dishonor last Friday. Beretta missed a knee on Castagnoli, but did hit a Saito Suplex before trying a dive, only to eat an uppercut before takeoff. Moxley tagged in and destroyed Beretta with a King Kong Lariat into commercial break.

Beretta fought out of the corner with a missile dropkick on Castagnoli, tagging Taylor, who dropped Moxley with Sole Food. Moxley tried turning the tables, but ate a jump knee and German suplex by Taylor. Penta made the blind tag on Moxley and fired off Sling Blade and back stabber on Taylor. All six men started slugging it out in the ring until Best Friends just decided to hug and give the people what they wanted. Moxley & Castagnoli were sent outside and Lucha Bros were planted with dueling piledrivers from Taylor & Beretta.

Lucha Bros gained control with superkicks and submission attempts, as Penta snapped back on the arm of Beretta before hitting Made in Penta. Castagnoli & Moxley broke things up, beating down Best Friends with anvil elbows, stomps and powerbomb by Castagnoli on Taylor. Castagnoli wanted a Ricola Bomb, but Orange Cassidy’s music hit and he laid out Wheeler Yuta on the ramp. Cassidy slugged it out with Moxley as Beretta dropped Castagnoli with a Crunchie, but was told Castagnoli wasn’t the legal man, how in the world with all this chaos did Paul Turner keep track of that? The Lucha Bros jumped in and laid out Beretta with Fear Factor and Penta got the win.

Post match, commentary talked about how The BCC are in unfamiliar territory losing multiple matches, as Best Friends & Cassidy kept brawling with The BCC before Lucha Bros kind of made Moxley back off, as he bailed all while everyone else brawled. Excalibur informed us Moxley vs. Beretta vs. Penta next week in an Anything Goes three way on the 200th episode of Dynamite.

AEW Dynamite live results: Blood & Guts match

Kota Ibushi makes his AEW debut, teaming with Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson), and Hangman Page as The Golden Elite. They take on a Blackpool Combat Club team comprised of Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Konosuke Takeshita, and PAC.

World Champion MJF & Adam Cole team in the finals of the Blind Eliminator Tournament against Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia. The winning team will earn a shot at FTR’s AEW Tag Team Championship.

The FTW Championship is also on the line, as Hook defends the title against “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry in a grudge match.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as Tarzan Boy played, but Jungle Boy Jack Perry never came out. Instead, we saw a video of Perry in the desert pulling a body with Jungle Boy’s boots into a grave and he dug the hole. A limousine pulled up and Perry stepped inside as he was announced simply as Jack Perry and walked out to his new music, Beethoven’s 5th Symphony.

Jack Perry defeated HOOK to win the FTW Title

(It appears Jungle Boy is officially dead and buried, as the new theme and look for Perry set the stage for handing HOOK his first loss. This feud is far from over and this was a good first battle between the two. My one complaint was the ref bump looked absurd and made Paul Turner look ridiculous in the process. Pun intended, but by hook or by crook, Perry did what was needed to win his first singles title in his AEW career.)

Despite Taz literally being right there on commentary, Excalibur asked Tony Schiavone to give the history of the FTW Title. HOOK immediately went after Perry, who bailed outside and was launched over the barricade with HOOK going right out after, launching off the barricade with a Superman punch. Back inside, Perry got an eye rake and dropkick to gain control. The crowd really let Perry hear it as the fight went back to the floor during commercial.

HOOK fought off a German suplex off the apron and delivered an Exploder suplex to the floor with both landing super hard. HOOK went to throw Perry back inside, but Perry posed HOOK and connected with a draping DDT off the apron. Perry was content with a countout win, but HOOK broke the count at 9 as Perry hit a release German, but HOOK no sold and hit a multiple bridging Germans for two. HOOK went for a third, but Perry grabbed the ref, hit a mule kick and charging forearm to the neck for a close near fall.

Perry grabbed the FTW Title and brought it in the ring, as referee Paul Turner awkwardly tried to take it from him, but got sandwiched instead. HOOK hit a head and arm suplex, had the visible pin, but the ref was down. HOOK went to revive the official when Perry grabbed the FTW Title and waffled HOOK. Perry draped an arm over HOOK, getting the win and the title, ending the undefeated streak of HOOK in the process.

-We see footage of Alex Marvez earlier today seeing Chris Jericho & Don Callis having a meal together when Callis’ security spots them and shoves him away.

-Footage of MJF & Adam Cole last night at Kowloon restaurant with Cole saying MJF has to face his fear of one of the things Max hates most, spicy food and not poor people, which MJF thought it’d be. Another chapter in the bonding of Better Than You Bay Bay, as they ate spicy food and drank what they thought was water, but it was 100 proof alcohol. A drunken Cole & MJF thought the waiter looked like Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara and were about to give him a double clothesline when the video ended.

**********

-We see Alex Marvez outside of the arena earlier today waiting for Don Callis’ limousine to pull up as he arrived with Chris Jericho. Marvez asked if Jericho has made a decision with both calling him a fat headed idiot.

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. defeated Kayla Sparks

(With the Owen Hart Cup over, this was a way to get Baker back on the winning track after being eliminated so early in the tournament.)

Baker hit a Sling Blade, double underhook suplex and Lock Jaw for the quick victory.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Adam Cole & MJF who talk about winning the Blind Eliminator Tournament tonight. MJF presented Cole with matching trunks, while Cole had matching ring jackets made. There was one final surprise Cole had, as they walked off and Roderick Strong came into the shot yelling for Cole. Paquette tried to tell him what just happened, but he didn’t want to hear it, looking dejected again.

-Chris Jericho joined commentary before the match, cutting his music off before the crowd could sing along to the Judas chorus. The surprise Cole was referencing was he had a mash-up made with his & MJF’s entrance themes, which popped MJF like crazy. I know I was late to the party on this, but Cole & MJF have completely won me over as a buddy duo.

AEW World Champion MJF & Adam Cole defeated Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia to win the Blind Eliminator Tournament

(I did my best to describe what took place in the pre-match, but I can’t recommend seeking it out more, as it was a whole lot of fun. We finally got our pay off to the build of the double clothesline spot and it made the crowd go wild. Post match not only planted more seeds of dissention between Jericho & his crew, but we also saw cracks in the friendship between Cole & MJF. The time will come, assuredly sooner rather than later, but this pairing has turned into a lot of fun while it’s lasted.)

Prior to the bell, MJF & Garcia had what can only be described as a Thrust Off. This turned into a full blown Dance Battle, as MJF jumped ringside and literally hit the music as Garcia & Guevara were first and obviously had a routine planned out ready for this moment. MJF took the stage and did his dance before Cole thrusted so often and terribly that the music scratched and MJF begged him to stop. This was one of the most surreal, yet amazing openings to an AEW match ever. Garcia & Guevara attacked immediately, but bailed when Cole & MJF yelled for a double clothesline. MJF hit the ropes tirelessly, faking a dive before opting to pose, as Garcia took control soon after into commercial break.

MJF remained isolated the whole break before MJF fell head first into the groin of Guevara, which Taz called Yam-Bag Yahtzee. MJF dodged a double clothesline and made the hot tag to Cole, who ran wild, dropping Garcia with a series of superkicks, but missed the Panama Sunrise. Garcia opted to thrust at referee Bryce and ate a Cole superkick, as did a springing Guevara. Cole & MJF signaled for the double clothesline, but Guevara ducked and hit a double standing Spanish Fly. MJF dodged a super Cutter and tried Cross Rhodes, but Guevara avoided and Cole made a blind tag. Garcia hit a double chop block and sank in the Dragon Slayer on Cole, who got the ropes. Garcia was backdropped to the floor onto Guevara, as Cole told MJF to do the dive. Hesitant at first, MJF connected on the tope on both outside and the crowd lost their minds. Back inside, Cole hit the Panama Sunrise on Garcia, tagged MJF and they finally hit the elusive double clothesline with MJF getting the pin and win.

Jericho tried to cheer up Guevara & Garcia at the ramp, but both men walked away from him, similar to Jake Hager walking away last week. Meanwhile, in the ring, Cole held the AEW Title and MJF ripped it away furious before cooler heads prevailed with both hugging, but MJF giving a look when Cole turned his back. FTR’s music hit, as Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler came to the ring for the face off, as the match is set for July 29th on Collision for the AEW Tag Team Titles.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Best Friends, Kris Statlander, Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin & Nick Wayne. Paquette talked about Allin & Wayne being in the Royal Rampage this Friday, while Statlander will be facing Marina Shafir for the TBS Title on Rampage as well. Allin said Swerve Strickland will also be in the Royal Rampage, but asks Cassidy if he’ll do him a favor and give someone a shot that helped him out when he was homeless, that being AR Fox. Cassidy says Allin & he are cool, so he grants the shot to Fox next week on Dynamite. Best Friends tried doing an all hands in, but Allin & Wayne walked off with Paquette being the only one who joined in.

-Chompy The Shark joined commentary to plug Shark Week starting Sunday as Taz said if the shark touched him, he’s tossing it off the stage.

-A video package on the history of The Golden Elite & Blackpool Combat Club is shown, as the main event is up next.

The Golden Elite (Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson), Hangman Adam Page & Kota Ibushi) defeated Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Konosuke Takeshita & PAC) in a Blood & Guts Match

(An incredibly violent and action packed war to put an end to such a hard hitting saga. I wrote a lot about this match because a hell of a lot happened. This was my favorite Blood & Guts match that AEW has done as this was filled with holy sh*t moments. If you aren’t a fan of violence, I don’t know what to tell you, as this match lived up to the billing. At one point the crowd chanted they wanted fire and I’m thrilled they didn’t get their wish as I think they had just run out of things to chant for, since they had already gotten glass, tacks, chairs, nails, tables, forks, screwdrivers, etc. You have multiple stories you could tell coming out of this match, especially since two teammates bailed on the BCC. It’ll be interesting the direction they go heading into All In & All Out.)

Omega & Castagnoli began for their respective teams and it was Castagnoli getting the upper hand as we were told the BCC won the coin toss and will be getting the early advantage. Omega hit a cross body off the top and launched Castagnoli into the second ring. After Castagnoli regained control, Omega hit an up and over in the corner, snap hurricanrana and drunk slam as PAC was the next entrant and caught Omega with a quick missile dropkick. PAC & Castagnoli had a brief face off before beating down Omega during commercial.

Hangman Page joined the match right when they returned from break and the crowd is already on fire. Page caught PAC on a cross body and hit a fall away slam before wiping out Castagnoli with a springing clothesline and moonsault off the top rope. Page & Omega showed great teamwork and why they were former Tag Team Champions with their double team pop up German suplex on PAC. Castagoli was able to dropkick Omega against the cage repeatedly and gain control just as Jon Moxley entered the arena. Page was waiting for Moxley, who jumped in with a screwdriver and stabbed Page & Omega repeatedly with it, even biting the fingers of Omega. Moxley handed Castagnoli a fork, before grabbing a bucket from under the ring, dumping broken glass out. Before anything could happen, Nick Jackson ran to the ring and hit a dropkick on Moxley, landing on the glass. Thankfully Moxley had a jacket on to absorb a lot of it.

Nick ran wild, sending Castanoli & PAC almost colliding and brief argument before Jackson laid them both out. Nick hit a double springboard hurricanrana that dropped Castagnoli onto the glass, but Moxley quickly hit suplex on Nick, stomping down glass onto the chest. Castagnoli & Moxley hit a double suplex on Omega onto the glass as Wheeler Yuta was in next, running to the ring with a chair during commercial. Even in picture in picture, the camera unfortunately cut right as Yuta dropped Nick with a brainbuster onto the set up chair. Omega tried a springboard on Moxley, who shoved Omega back first into the cage. Omega found himself trapped between the cage and the ring when Matt Jackson entered and dropped PAC with a face buster and Yuta with a DDT onto the chair.

I could be wrong, but Moxley is I believe the first person to officially bleed as The Young Bucks connected with Risky Business. Omega emerged from under the ring as Moxley mounted a comeback with Castanoli’s help on The Bucks with suplexes and uppercuts. Yuta meanwhile, was driven face first into the glass by Omega with Konosuke Takeshita the final entrant for the BCC as Don Callis joined commentary. Takeshita cracked Page with a chair and hit The Bucks with dueling suplexes before turning Omega inside out with a lariat. Moxley brought out a bed of nails with Taz calling him a horror movie dude. Omega blocked the first shot, but Moxley hit a shotgun dropkick sending Omega into the nails followed by a bodyslam by Moxley. Callis loved it as even Castagnoli looked at Moxley with an impressed reaction.

Kota Ibushi’s music hit to a monster reaction, as Yuta sprinted up the ramp and was laid out. Ibushi laid out Castagnoli, PAC & Takeshita as Ibushi stared down Moxley, who stomped down on Omega’s hand onto the nails, flipping Ibushi off. Both men started a wild strike exchange until PAC & Castagnoli ate a double Pele kick before Moxley was dropped onto the nails by Ibushi who followed with a standing moonsault. Ibushi clutched his wrist, as The Golden Lovers were going to do the BTE Trigger on Takeshita, but PAC & Castagnoli made the save. Nick was pressed over Castagnoli’s head and launched into the cage before they went to commercial.

Yuta & Matt Jackson had been brawling on the stage before both decided to climb to the top of the cage. Matt did his rolling Northern Lights suplexes up there, but Yuta countered the final one into a DDT. Yuta wisely climbed down the cage as Excalibur plugged the American Red Cross during Blood & Guts and even acknowledged how wild that was. PAC & Castagnoli were about to do double piledrivers on Page & Nick when Matt rained down thumbtacks from the top of the cage and PAC & Castagnoli got backdropped onto them in one of the coolest visuals I’ve seen. All 10 men are finally in the ring and The Elite hit You Can’t Escape, standing shooting star, top rope elbow & 450 Splash combo on PAC heading into the final commercial break.

During picture in picture, The Bucks & Page hit an assisted Tombstone & Dead Eye combo as Nick set up a table teetering between the rings. We had four superplexes in succession by The BCC and finally PAC held onto the top of the cage and swung into a double stomp through the table on Nick in an incredible moment. The back of Jon Moxley was shown and it was quite the gnarly image as each team regrouped in separate rings before a 10 man brawl commenced. Everyone took turns hitting home run shots with PAC being planted with a Snap Dragon into the glass. Omega tried One Winged Angel, but PAC countered into the Brutalizer. The BCC had 4 submissions applied while Matt ate the Giant Swing into the Sharpshooter.

Ibushi broke free and busted up all the submissions, really having to work to break up Castagnoli’s. Omega ate corner splashes when miscommunication occurred again between Castagnoli & PAC, who had to be separated by Yuta, Takeshtia & Moxley. PAC flipped off everyone before getting bolt cutters under the ring, snapped the cage door and bailing, slamming the door at Castagnoli. Omega fired up with Snap Dragons, Page hit a Buckshot on Castagnoli, and a Buckshot Trigger on Yuta with Omega. Moxley was handcuffed, as Callis pulled Takeshita from the match and they also bailed leaving it 5 on 3. Yuta meanwhile was busted open with a thumbtack covered shoe by Matt Jackson. Page wrapped a chain around the throat of Yuta and he passed out, ending the match, as Moxley was forced to watch handcuffed as The Golden Elite had their hands raised.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they throw it to the entrances for our opening contest.

Chris Jericho submitted Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes)

(This was a good back and forth opener with commentary really putting over how unique it was for Jericho to be out here and win on his own, as no Jericho Appreciation Society members were ringside. Komander did his main high spots, but tried one too many, as Jericho had it scouted leading to the finish. Post match, Don Callis really pulled at the heartstrings of Jericho, again making his pitch to join his family.)

Komander tried firing out of the gate with strikes, but Jericho quickly regained control only to have Komander do the corner headstand into a dropkick. A multi springboard hurricanrana sent Jericho to the floor, as Komander followed it up with a Tornillo. The crowd chanted for Y2J, as a running knee off the apron connected for Komander, but back inside, Jericho caught him with a forearm shiver in mid air. Hard chops led to a brainbuster, but Komander fought back with a combo of kicks before being hip tossed to the floor by Jericho.

A suplex from the apron back inside got Jericho two as he blew kisses to the crowd, flipping them off in the process. Komander hit a springboard head scissors, but Jericho quickly answered with two powerbombs. A missed Lionsault allowed Komander to get two count off a La Magistral attempt. Jericho caught a charging Komander with a major lariat and went to the corner, as Komander fought off a superplex attempt and hit the rope walk Shooting Star. Jericho missed his springboard attack and went to the floor, as Komander wowed the crowd with his rope walk dive and Phoenix Splash back inside for close two. Komander went for a rope walk leap, but turned right into a Code Breaker in mid air. Komander dodged a Judas Effect, tried a springboard Dragon Rana, but Jericho countered into the Lion Tamer for the submission.

Don Callis’ ominous music hit and he was immediately booed by the Saskatoon crowd. Callis said the wrestling world is buzzing about Jericho joining the Don Callis Family. Callis mentioned being in a faction with Jericho 34 years ago along with their mentor Bad News Allen and showed footage of them together in 1995 as Callis called themselves a couple of Gods. Jericho remembers Allen said they should always stick together, while Callis said Allen is up in heaven smiling at the possibility of them joining forces as he made his way to the back, leaving Jericho again with much to consider.

-Alex Marvez is in the parking lot beside a car saying he’s been waiting for Jack Perry, so he’s just going to knock on the window. Perry said it’s an unsafe working environment before HOOK opened the door, as Perry scrambled to get away, with the child locks being his downfall. Perry escaped, popped HOOK with a forearm and ran again, as HOOK looked into the camera and said to keep running.

**********

-Renee Paquette stopped Don Callis, who said later tonight, he’s going to go out and make the big announcement for who the 5th man will be for the Blackpool Combat Club at Blood & Guts. Paquette said it’s surprising to go out alone with Kenny Omega in the building, but Callis said Omega is someone he’s not afraid of. Back to the commentary table, Tony Schiavone called Callis an idiot, which was the perfect segue for Excalibur to call MJF an idiot and throw it to the next bonding session between the AEW World Champion and Adam Cole.

-MJF & Cole are at a bar having drinks when four ladies walk by and say hello, as MJF said two for Cole & two for him, but Cole said he can’t, as he loves Britt Baker. MJF said more for daddy, as he went off with the four ladies. MJF walked back a bit later saying the Maximum Ride is spent as Cole said he’d put on the shirt MJF got for him if they do what he wanted next, which was playing the Fight Forever video game. MJF was appalled until finding out his stats and we learn he’s never had a friend to play multi-player with. Cole & MJF both admit they were both going to attack each other when their guard was down and both agree to win the Blind Eliminator Tournament and win the AEW Tag Team Titles. We get a slow motion high five to end this insane segment. Tony Schiavone said that’s four minutes of his life he’ll never get back.

Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara defeated AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin in a Blind Eliminator Semi Final

(This was a fun tag match, one I wish we would’ve seen more of because of the commercial, but the story told was a good one. Guevara didn’t know of the interference and you can play into that, all while building a potential Strickland & Allin match.)

A fast opening sequence with Cassidy & Guevara, as multiple arm drags led to both men posing. Allin jumped in and took out Garcia on the floor with a low tope and got a few roll ups on Guevara before Garcia tripped Allin up and smacked Cassidy into the barricade. Garcia hit a spinning front chancery on Allin and kept him isolated throughout the break.

Guevara whipped Allin right into Garcia on the apron, as Allin hit a Code Red, but didn’t realize Garcia made the legal tag. The tables turned, as Garcia missed a corner charge and ran into Guevara as Cassidy made the hot tag and ran wild. Garcia blocked the DDT, but was dropped with a Michinoku Driver by Cassidy for two. Garcia dodged Orange Punch and got a body scissors into the Dragon Tamer. Cassidy escaped, hit a Stundog Millionaire followed by an up and over Stunner from Allin. Guevara jumped in and almost immediately planted with Beach Break as Garcia & Cassidy traded rolling crucifix pins before both collided with big boots for the double down. Allin & Guevara made the tag and clonked heads with everyone down now.

Guevara hit a pop up knee, but missed the follow up Shooting Star Press. Garcia locked on the Dragon Tamer ringside on Cassidy, as Prince Nana walked to the ring and told Garcia to lay Cassidy out with Allin’s skateboard. As a tug of war started with Allin, the ref & Garcia, Swerve Strickland came in from out of nowhere and hit Allin with a running knee before escaping with Nana through the crowd. Guevara, who was unaware of what happened, hit the GTH on Allin and got the pin.

-A video of Nick Wayne is shown of him training growing up and the story of his mother sitting him down to tell him his father had passed away. Nick said he wondered what was going to happen next as he didn’t have a father figure any longer. Nick said he wants to continue the legacy of the Wayne name as footage of training with Darby Allin is shown. Nick said he’s been ready for this moment his entire life, knowing what professional wrestling has meant to his family. This was a really good video package.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Adam Cole, who is on the phone, trying to explain to Britt Baker what happened when he went out with MJF at the bars. Roderick Strong walked in and asked if he’s really falling for MJF’s BS, as Cole said he has nothing to worry about, MJF isn’t a half bad guy. Strong & Cole had issues when they first met, but Cole now sees Strong as brother. Cole cut off Strong when he got a text from MJF wanting to hit the double clothesline before rethinking that after seeing Brian Cage in the hall. Cole walked off to call MJF when Strong & Paquette just shook their heads. I’m not sure if this ends with Strong turning on Cole, but this whole thing has kind of made Cole look ridiculous, even if he is playing MJF.

AEW World Champion MJF & Adam Cole defeated Big Bill & Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana) in a Blind Eliminator Semi Final

(The first half of this match was all comedy, but the finish was pretty fun with the crowd into it. I thought Cage & Bill looked really impressive with their first round win and wouldn’t mind them teaming more often, but there was no way they were advancing with the story being told with MJF & Cole. If these two don’t turn on each other at the same exact moment, you’re going to have whoever doesn’t pull the trigger first look like an absolute idiot.)

Cole took his jacket off to reveal the Better than You Bay Bay shirt MJF got him. MJF got the crowd chant for a bodyslam, which in fact didn’t happen when he tried it on Bill. Cole & Cage tagged in and took turns doing pushups, which Cole did more of and angered Cage before MJF & Bill tagged back in. MJF failed another bodyslam attempt, as Bill told MJF not to have Cole show him up and do more pushups. Bill immediately punted MJF in the ribs and kept him isolated with Cage during break.

Bill ripped off MJF’s shirt and that’s what caused MJF to hulk up and hit the big time bodyslam, which the crowd erupted for. MJF floated over a Cage lariat, got an eye poke and hot tag to Cole, who hit a series of pump kicks and eye poke of his own. Cole & MJF both yelled for the double clothesline, but Cage put on the brakes and it was Bill who connected with the clothesline of his own. Cole & MJF escaped a double chokeslam with superkicks, as Cage hit a Samoan Drop and Fall Away Slam combo. Cage ate a superkick on the apron, as MJF hit a Heat Seeker, while Cole lowered The Boom for the win.

Post match, much like last week, MJF got the crowd to chant for Cole to do the thing, which was the Adam Cole Bay Bay chant. MJF put over their new tag team shirts as Cole said it was Story Time with Adam Cole. Never in Cole’s dreams did he expect a tag team with MJF to work, but he has high expectations on winning this tournament and Tag Team Titles. If they stay on the same page, Cole promises they’re looking at new champions. Cole & MJF hit the go home line together saying We’re Better Than You, Bay Bay as we see Roderick Strong backstage watching, annoyed at this new friendship.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Jake Hager outside Chris Jericho’s locker room. Hager said Jericho knows we’re coming in and asked if Jericho is considering joining Callis’ family. Jericho said Callis is making some good points, mentioning the history with Bad News Allin and said he needs some time to think. Hager took off his purple bucket hat and said years ago he saved Jericho in Abu Dhabi, while Jericho brought Hager into AEW. Until Jericho can give Hager a straight answer, he can’t stand by his side and handed Jericho the purple hat before walking off.

Ruby Soho (w/Saraya & Toni Storm) defeated Skye Blue in an Owen Hart Tournament Semi Final

(Blue thankfully didn’t have to deal with the numbers game very long, but Soho was still too much to handle despite a good fight. Soho moves to the finals of the Owen Tournament for the second year in a row and hopes to change the finish from what happened last time.)

Blue avoided a ripcord early and slapped Soho in the face before finding herself on the apron. Storm ran distraction, but failed, as Blue was superkick happy and took out everyone before dropping Soho face first on the edge of the apron. Storm tossed Blue into the ring steps and the referee saw it, but instead of disqualifying Soho, he sent Saraya & Storm to the back. Soho repeatedly drove the knee of Blue into the steps and yelled the Owen Hart trophy would be hers.

Back from break, Blue managed a thrust kick with the good leg and hit a nice neckbreaker for two. Soho avoided the step up knee, kicked out the bad wheel, but Blue wanted Code Blue, only to have Soho counter into a single leg crab. Blue got the ropes and dropped Soho with a spinning Full Nelson slam for two, as Blue went to the top rope, but was crotched by Soho. A No Future off the ropes led to Soho getting the win.

-QT Marshall is backstage to introduce Harley Cameron’s music video on The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass. She rapped so fast that it’ll take listening to this about 50 more times to catch all the disses she threw out.

Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) defeated Nick Wayne

(Wayne put up one hell of an effort and the crowd was loudly behind him, but Strickland was too much and ruined his AEW debut. I really enjoyed this match and the future looks very bright for Nick Wayne in AEW.)

Darby Allin walked out with Wayne, before letting him head to the ring alone as we see Wayne’s mother sitting ringside. Commentary talk about the history between Strickland & Wayne on the independent scene, as a fast opening sequence led to a lightning quick series of counters into a stalemate. Wayne hit a snap hurricanrana and leaping uppercut, but soaked in the moment too long, which allowed Strickland to attack. Strickland was sent to the apron, as he nearly got a DVD, but Wayne countered into a hurricanrana that sent Strickland flying to the floor into commercial. Back inside, Wayne had his legs kicked out and hung up on the bottom rope, as Strickland hit a running low neckbreaker to the floor.

Strickland lit up Wayne with strikes until Wayne hit a superman forearm shot and shotgun dropkick. Strickland blocked a springboard stunner, but Wayne countered into a standing Sliced Bread for two. Wayne went for his Wayne’s World springboard cutter, but Strickland caught him in mid air with two Torture Rack backbreakers. The crowd is loudly behind Wayne, as Darby Allin is shown on the ramp cheering Wayne on as well. Wayne fought out of the corner with a massive avalanche Poison Rana, followed by Wayne’s World, but Strickland’s foot made the rope. Both men go up the ropes again, but this time Strickland countered a super hurricanrana into a super powerbomb and The Last Call kick for a close two. Strickland smirks at Allin and snapped the left arm back before hitting the JML Driver for the victory. Allin came to the ring post match, as Strickland stared down Wayne’s mother.

The Fifth Men for Blood & Guts Revealed

Don Callis walks to the ring alone and said Omega & The Elite deserve what is coming to them at Blood & Guts, as Omega is a coward and a punk. Kenny Omega walked to the ring, but was attacked by Jon Moxley & Konosuke Takeshita until being blindsided by the returning PAC with a steel chair. Omega was rolled in the ring and had the boots put to him by Moxley, Takeshtia & PAC as they held Omega for Callis to put the boots to him with his bedazzled loafers. PAC took the microphone and said Omega had no idea how long he’s waited for this, as Omega shattered his nose and took his Trios Title from him, so Omega pays the price. They were about to Pillmanize Omega’s neck and Moxley asked if Omega had last words, as Omega started laughing saying to watch the screen.

We see a video package of KOTA IBUSHI, who is the fifth man for The Elite, as the lights come back on and The Young Bucks & Hangman Page are in the ring to send Moxley, Takeshita, PAC & Callis packing. Page said next week they end this once and for all. Omega said Blood & Guts will prove that people like the BCC will never prosper as once everyone is down and out, Omega is coming for Callis. Omega says Goodbye & Goodnight.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they throw it to backstage moments ago where Renee Paquette is with Darby Allin & Keith Lee, both on opposite teams tonight. Allin said if Lee feels lost in the shuffle since losing the Tag Titles, then do something about it and pull his head out of his ass instead of pouting on the apron. Allin walked away and Lee smirked, saying that was both ballsy and stupid. Taz on commentary said Allin shouldn’t poke the bear.

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin defeated Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) in a Blind Eliminator Quarterfinal

(If there was one word to describe this opener, it would be fun. Allin & Cassidy were tossed around quite a bit by Lee and it looked like their injuries would finally be their downfall, but ultimately the miscommunication set the stage for Swerve in Our Glory to fall.)

Allin immediately slapped Lee to start and as a result was hit with one of the biggest beals I’ve ever seen. Allin escaped a Supernova, tagged Cassidy, who tried his light offense until Lee double chopped him to the mat. Excalibur said he had never seen someone’s soul leave their body. Cassidy put his hands in his pockets, but suffered another chop, as Allin & Cassidy took turns hitting multiple Coffin Splashes and Orange Punches. Strickland made the tag and had a nice fast sequence with his former rival Strickland, who avoided a float over stunner and hit a leaping uppercut to the back. Allin appeared to tweak his knee in the process. Strickland was isolated briefly until the tables were turned on Allin, who found himself picked apart by the former Tag Team Champions.

Strickland tried a superplex on Allin, but Lee added a little more to it, by turning it into a Tower of Doom, powerbombing his partner in the process. Cassidy made the tag, as Allin had the ring steps dropped on his ribs outside by Strickland. Cassidy locked on a sleeper on Lee ringside, but Lee walked up the steps with Allin still trapped under them. Back inside, Lee blocked the DDT and Stundog Millionaire multiple times until finally Cassidy hit it and Allin followed with Code Red for two as Strickland broke it up by hitting a 450 on his partner, which made him smile. Lee & Strickland both tried for home run shots and collided with one another, as Cassidy hit a top rope DDT on Strickland and a diving one to the floor on Lee. This allowed Allin to wrap up Strickland with the Last Supper for the win. Lee gave a fist bump to Cassidy post match.

-We see footage of the Buddy Wayne academy and Darby Allin talking about young Nick Wayne running around while they were training as an 8 year old. Allin talked about Buddy passing away and the anger he had when receiving the news. Allin made a pact with himself to watch over Nick Wayne and make sure he gets everything he ever wanted in life. Allin recommended Tony Khan watching Nick’s matches and how at 17, was offered an AEW contract, but now he’s 18 and his time in an AEW ring is coming soon.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage waiting for Jungle Boy Jack Perry to arrive. Perry said he’s not a thug like HOOK; they need to fight in the ring like professionals, so he’s going to Tony Khan’s office to demand a FTW Title match. HOOK came bursting into the shot and got in a few shots before Perry took off in his car for the second week in a row.

**********

-Footage of the bonding time between MJF & Adam Cole is shown as they are training at the gym. MJF is doing reps on the bench, but Cole is preoccupied on his phone to spot him. MJF was making fun of another person when Cole told him that wasn’t cool, but they both said he reminded them of Tony Schiavone. Cole then did a crazy amount of reps and baffled MJF as the segment ended.

The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) & Daddy Ass defeated The Blade & The Bollywood Boyz (Harv & Gurv Shira)

(Well, there’s not much to say about the actual match, since we barely saw any of it. Instead, it looks like The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass are continuing their QTV feud.)

After an early shoulder block, Billy Gunn was going to moon the crowd, I guess, but referee Aubrey stopped him. Caster made the tag and ran wild with bodyslams and backdrops aplenty leading to Scissor Me Timbers. The Acclaimed & Gunn triple scissored into commercial where Caster was attacked from behind and isolated.

Bowens made the hot tag and hit a huge Fame-Asser before Gunn jumped in and hit the One and Only on Harv Shira. Caster capped things off with a Mic Drop for the win that took place about 30 seconds after they returned from commercial.

Harley Cameron interrupted on the big screen, upset The Acclaimed & Gunn ruined her singing a few weeks ago on Rampage. Cameron said she’s money on the mic and said next week she’ll have a video for them. Gunn took the mic and said he had two words for Cameron, suck it.

-Highlights of Eddie Kingston winning the New Japan Strong Openweight Title against KENTA, achieving his dream of winning a title in Japan is shown. We then cut to a video of Jon Moxley talking about his history with Kingston. Through good times and bad, both of them made it out, as he questioned why Kingston walks around so angry? They should make every day count instead of complaining about the new generation having no respect. Moxley said Kingston should let the past be the past and told Kingston to answer his phone. We see a graphic of the upcoming Blood & Guts and how both the BCC & Elite have one empty slot they each have to fill in the coming weeks.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with RJ City and Matt Hardy, who is waiting to find out his partner in the Blind Eliminator tournament on Rampage. RJ told him it’s Jeff, but not Hardy, instead Jarrett.

Don Callis Makes Chris Jericho An Intriguing Offer

Chris Jericho came to the ring to a massive ovation from the Edmonton crowd. Jericho said over the last few months, things haven’t gone the way he would’ve liked with the amount of losses he’s suffered. Jericho talked about how traveling in Alberta has invigorated him and potentially be the best Chris Jericho ever. Jericho is interrupted by Don Callis, whose entrance music sounded like just buzzing. Callis was booed out of the building when he said Jericho needed change. Six years ago Callis suggested Jericho main event the Tokyo Dome with Kenny Omega. Meanwhile, Jericho said he was the one who helped Callis get back into the wrestling business and into AEW. Callis said he’s had to build a new family since Kenny Omega destroyed his old one, a family built on trust. Callis said when he thinks about trust, he thinks of his best friend, Chris Jericho. If Jericho is ready to change history one more time, will he join the Don Callis Family? Jericho said he doesn’t join factions, he creates them, but his answer is, maybe.

-Video packages on the men’s Owen Hart Semi Finals this week on Collision is shown as CM Punk & Samoa Joe reignite their almost 20 year rivalry, while Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs start up their feud once more.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Doc Sampson and Roderick Strong, who is in a neck brace. Sampson said they need to be careful with Strong’s injury history, but Strong said he feels fine. Adam Cole walks in and tells Strong to be careful, as Strong questions the friendship between Cole & MJF. Cole just then got a text from MJF and said he needed to go, but he’d check in with Strong later.

AEW World Champion MJF & Adam Cole defeated Matt Menard & The Butcher in a Blind Eliminator Tournament Quarterfinal

(First off, Happy Birthday to Adam Cole! Now, if you like abdominal stretches, have I got the match for you. We all know it’s not if, but when or who will turn on each other first? This match was about the new “friendship” between MJF & Cole, as they are one step closer to winning this tournament. They could get a few more weeks out of this pairing before the wheels fall off.)

MJF did the Cole poses during the entrance, as Butcher & Menard attacked from behind, putting boots to the unlikely allies. Menard fires off forearms, but MJF starts no selling, slaps Menard in the face before getting an abdominal stretch. MJF wanted Cole’s assistant and reluctantly it worked briefly before Menard got a hip toss escape. MJF was isolated the whole commercial, including Menard & Butcher getting their own assisted abdominal stretch, which MJF got a low blow escape. MJF finally made the tag to Cole, who ran wild with a pump kick and neckbreaker over the knee on Menard. MJF yelled for a double clothesline, as Butcher & Menard both ate superkicks. Instead of granting MJF his wish, Cole lowered The Boom on Menard to win it.

Post match, MJF took the mic and asked the crowd if there were any Devil worshipers here tonight? He also asked if there were fans of a guy with a super over name and told Cole to do the name thing. Cole obliged, as MJF said they should have another bro session this weekend. The crowd chanted Yes, as Cole again obliged and MJF wished Cole Happy Birthday as streamers fell. Backstage workers came out with party hats and cake, as MJF put a hat on Cole. MJF started serenading Cole with Happy Birthday, as Cole stops him and said he appreciates it, but he’s done enough. MJF chanted with the crowd to make a wish, as MJF looked to the camera and said he’s going to shove Cole’s face in the cake. Cole turned the tables and MJF went into the cake. Cole thanked MJF for celebrating his birthday and went to the back, smirking.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Britt Baker, asking her thoughts on Ruby Soho’s comments last week. Baker doesn’t care about what people think about her, but Soho lied when saying she’s taken everything Baker has cared about. Baker will always have her pride, something Soho can’t say she has. Baker shows the Owen Hart Foundation belt she won last year, against Soho.

**********

-Renee Paquette is again backstage with Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara. Paquette asked about his maybe to Don Callis earlier tonight. Garcia said they need Jericho, but it’s Jericho who said both Garcia & Guevara need room to grow. Paquette informs them that Garcia & Guevara have been selected as partners in the Blind Eliminator Tournament. I wish we actually got more names picked out of a tumbler and said who they are instead of just “hey, you two are teaming.” As someone who was a big fan of the Battlebowl concept, just seems like a missed opportunity, especially when you have folks like Paquette & RJ City who could make the announcements entertaining.

Ruby Soho (w/Toni Storm & Saraya) defeated Dr. Britt Baker in an Owen Hart Tournament Match

(I thought this match came nowhere close to their Double or Nothing match last year for their Owen Hart tournament final. I understand how The Outcasts constantly interfere, but it really hampers the match at times and also makes the officials look real dumb as well. I’m happy Soho advanced, it’s something different, but this match could’ve been so much more.)

Both ladies worked early hammerlocks, but Baker hit a misdirect Sling Blade, which sent Soho to the floor to regroup. Baker went out to follow and was just standing around staring at Saraya & Storm before Soho hit a leg sweep into commercial, which saw Soho remain in control, as Saraya & Storm continued to interfere.

Baker fought back with forearms and clotheslines, which led to a swinging fisherman’s neckbreaker for a near fall. Baker wanted Lock Jaw, took way too long, as Soho tried No Future, but Baker countered. Storm tripped up Baker, allowing Soho to hit a Saito Suplex for two of her own. Soho missed a top rope dive, as Baker got a backslide into Lock Jaw, but yet again, Saraya interfered. Soho sent Baker face first into the Owen Hart title belt held by Storm, as Soho hit No Future for two. Soho tried Lock Jaw, but Baker kicked off the ropes and tried Lock Jaw, as The Outcasts pulled Soho to safety. Baker finally took out Storm & Saraya with superkicks, but as they went to repeat the spot that ended their Finals last year, Soho had the victory roll countered and held onto Storm during the roll up to steal it. Saraya & Storm went to the back, as Skye Blue walked out on stage to have a faceoff with Soho ahead of their semi final match.

**********

Kenny Omega defeated Wheeler Yuta

(A very fun main event that saw Yuta really controlled a majority, with Omega selling his injuries. The plan of Don Callis backfired at the end, as Yuta couldn’t put away Omega again. Post match felt insanely rushed, even for Dynamite, as it we barely saw Dark Order get in the ring before going off the air.)

With this being his first action since Forbidden Door, Omega’s right shoulder & neck are taped up and Yuta attacked right at the bell. Both men traded chops until Omega unleashed a corner attack, high back drop and big back breaker. Omega connected with a Kotaro Crusher, but as he went for You Can’t Escape, Omega really hesitated and Yuta got his knees up on the moonsault. A dropkick sent Omega outside, where Yuta followed with a great looking tope. Omega tried fighting back on the apron, but Yuta zoned in on the taped up neck. It was all Yuta during commercial, until Omega mounted his comeback.

Omega hit the running palm strike to bounce Yuta like a basketball and violent fisherman’s buster for two. Yuta dodged a V-Trigger and countered into an Angle Slam for a near fall of his own. Yuta went to the top, but took too long, as Omega quickly followed to hit a massive leg trapped superplex. Both men traded forearm shivers before Yuta planted Omega with a nice bridging German for two. This led to rolling German attempts by Yuta, as Omega fought free and popped Yuta in the back with a V-Trigger and two Snap Dragons. Yuta nearly got a roll up, but Omega charged with another V-Trigger.

Yuta countered One Winged Angel into the Seatbelt pin, but Omega was up first with a powerbomb and V-Trigger. As Omega went for the home run shot, Don Callis came out and was held back by security. This allowed Konosuke Takeshita lay out Omega with a Blue Thunder Bomb, as Yuta followed up with a massive splash, but got two. Yuta went to climb the ropes, but Omega punched through the legs to the face and hit One Winged Angel to win a fun main event. Post match, Claudio Castagnoli hit the ring with Takeshita to put the boots to Omega until The Young Bucks & Hangman Adam Page hit the ring with chairs to even the odds. Castagnoli ate a BTE Trigger, but as Page went for a chair shot, Dark Order ran in to take the chair away at the last second of the show.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they throw it to the entrances for our opening contest.

Jon Moxley (w/Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) defeated Tomohiro Ishii

(Well, if you expected nothing more than a hard hitting battle between these two, they delivered. I loved how as all this carnage was going on, Claudio Castagnoli & Eddie Kingston didn’t take their eyes off each other as they continue to build that storyline with Moxley in the middle.)

These two had a similar intense stare down like they did from their 5 Star G1 Climax battle in 2019, exchanging nothing chops and forearms out the gate. Ishii fired out of the corner with a shoulder tackle, so Moxley responded by biting at the nose, with Ishii returning the favor. Moxley sent Ishii to the floor and wiped out with a tope before taking a victory lap in the crowd. Castagnoli & Yuta surrounded Ishii until Eddie Kingston’s music hits; he walks out, grabs a chair and argues with Moxley heading into commercial break. Moxley connected with a neckbreaker on the apron to remain in control.

Ishii started no selling and absorbing Moxley forearms that led to a huge superplex for two. Both men started trading forearms again, as the longer it went, the more the fans got into it. Ishii hit a combo, but Moxley spun around and dropped Ishii with one on the button followed by a Gotch Style Piledriver. Anvil elbows from Moxley led to Ishii flipping him off, so Moxley slapped on a Bulldog Choke. Moxley hit a King Kong Lariat, which Ishii kicked out at one, as both men traded knee strikes and Moxley kicked out at one in return with both men collapsing. After trading nasty headbutts, Moxley, now bleeding, connected on the Paradigm Shift, but Ishii kicked out. Ishii avoided Death Rider into a Paradigm Shift and hard lariat for two. Ishii no sold a Cutter and hit a Sliding Lariat, but Moxley spun out of a brainbuster into Death Rider for a close two. Ishii hit a desperation enzugiri, but Moxley answered with a Curb Stomp and one more Death Rider for the win. Post match, Kingston applauded Moxley for winning by himself, as Moxley brushed passed him.

-Renee Paquette is backstage and talked about Adam Cole & MJF being teammates in the Blind Eliminator Tournament as Adam Cole arrived with MJF soon after. MJF congratulates Cole on getting sick to get out of his Forbidden Door match and said he wishes he thought of it. Even though no one is on the level of The Devil, Cole was close, so suggests they bond this weekend. Cole reluctantly agrees as MJF’s driver tosses him a shirt to give to Cole that said Better Than You BayBay.

**********

-Renee Paquette is furious backstage with Jon Moxley, who is with Castagnoli & Yuta. Eddie Kingston walks in and told him he’s always had Moxley’s back, but he’s paling around with a scumbag like Castagnoli. Moxley said he doesn’t care about bad blodd from CHIKARA, as he stormed off with Paquette demanding that Kingston fix this.

-A video package on the incredible Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay match from Forbidden Door is shown.

-Before the upcoming match, Excalibur informs us the planned Britt Baker vs. Ruby Soho match in the Owen Hart Tournament has been scrapped due to Baker feeling ill. Soho will be in action tonight, but their match will take place next week.

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy, AAA Mega Champion El Hijo Del Vikingo & Keith Lee defeated Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker

(A fun little party match, with the wheels coming off a bit at the end. I know what they were going for, but Lee & Vikingo fixed things, ultimately standing tall with Cassidy.)

Vikingo used his speed early to hit a double springboard arm drag on Garcia, who was sent flying with a head scissors and bailed leading to Parker & Cassidy jumping in. Parker combed his hair and Cassidy took it away, putting it in his pocket. Miscommunication by Parker & Menard led to Cassidy combing his hair, as Garcia tried to attack, but was trapped in a bow and arrow with Vikingo hitting a double stomp. Menard tripped up Vikingo to allow Garcia to take over and keep Vikingo isolated.

Parker & Menard hit their drop toe hold leaping elbow combo, but messed up when they decided to mock Lee on the apron. Vikingo made the hot tag to Lee, who steamrolled everyone until Garcia decided to do his little dance while standing on the back of Lee. Things didn’t fare well for Garcia, as Lee powered up, sent Menard & Parker to the floor. Vikingo was supposed to be caught by Lee on a dive in a powerbomb position, but both men collapsed and Lee just picked up Vikingo and swung him around like a wrecking ball. Vikingo hit a huge moonsault from the top to the floor to take out Parker & Menard, as back inside Garcia got a two count on Cassidy and sank in the Dragon Tamer. The match broke down as Parker ate an Orange Punch, with Lee no selling Menard chops, ultimately planting Daddy Magic with a Supernova for the win.

-The Young Bucks & Hangman Page are backstage talking about their open challenge six man when the Dark Order walk in the shot as John Silver accepts the challenge. Page said they could do a 12 man tag, but Reynolds says they accept the 6 man. Evil Uno said Page bailed on them, despite being there for his darkest moments, opting to side with The Elite. Page tried to explain himself, but Dark Order didn’t want to hear any of it.

-A quick video package showcasing the great main event of Forbidden Door is shown, with Bryan Danielson submitting Kazuchika Okada.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara, asking about Jericho tapping in to The Painmaker persona. Jericho said tonight is bigger than Forbidden Door, as Sting vs. Jericho should be on TBS, commentated by Tony Schiavone. Tonight, Sting gets his nightmare of having more time in the ring with Chris Jericho, the nightmare of The Painmaker.

Hangman Adam Page & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defeated Evil Uno, John Silver & Alex Reynolds (w/-1)

(This was a lot of fun, both from an action standpoint and storyline wise. Page couldn’t find it in himself to fight his former friends until The Bucks really had to convince him to do so. That got boos from the crowd, as post match, to the surprise of no one, the challenge has been issued for Blood & Guts next month.)

Nick & Reynolds had a nice back and forth opening sequence with the Nick hitting a rope walk arm drag. Silver tagged in and wanted Page, who reluctantly came in, tried to explain himself again before locking up. Silver no sold a shoulder block and popped Page with a back elbow to escape a waist lock. This woke Page up; as he tagged in Matt, as did Canada’s own Evil Uno, who got a nice pop. Uno wasted no time leveling Nick & Page on the apron, but The Bucks regained control double teaming Reynolds & Silver until Uno wiped them out with a double clothesline. Uno jaw jacked with Page on the apron, but turned into a double superkick, as The Bucks hit double dives onto all of Dark Order. The Bucks got more aggressive, telling Page to get in there and fight, which got boos, but he ultimately didn’t. The Bucks controlled the action during break.

Miscommunication from The Bucks allowed Uno to make the hot tag and run wild on The Elite. Uno hit his ref assisted neckbreaker and piledriver on Nick, but Page broke the count. Page refused to fight Uno yet again and Uno slapped him, leading to Page making the legal tag and slugged it out with Uno. Both Uno & Reynolds took out The Bucks with double DDTs from the apron, as Reynolds & Silver hit the Wombo Combo on Page for two. The Bucks saved Page from the Pendulum Bomb, as Reynolds & Uno were wiped out on the floor. Page turned Silver inside out with a lariat, but waited too long, as Silver hit a hurricanrana counter of the Buckshot. Page countered a home run kick from Silver into Dead Eye, as The Bucks followed with the BTE Trigger and Page hit the Buckshot Lariat for the win.

Post match, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta all hit the ring to attack The Elite, as Dark Order just watched on before bailing. Yuta hit a violent brainbuster onto a chair on Matt as Konosuke Takeshita & Don Callis are also there. Jon Moxley had a screwdriver and popped Page, busting him open, as Eddie Kingston ran to the ring but was brutally beaten down by Castagnoli & Yuta, trapping his arm in a chair. Moxley had his back turned to what is happening, with Castagnoli smacking the trapped arm of Kingston with another chair. Moxley said it’s time to end this feud once and for all, July 19th, Boston, TD Garden, Blood & Guts.

-Video packages on the upcoming three Owen Hart Tournament matches this week on Collision is shown. Roderick Strong vs. Samoa Joe, Dustin Rhodes vs. Powerhouse Hobbs & Juice Robinson vs. Ricky Starks takes place Saturday.

**********

-Roderick Strong approaches Adam Cole backstage and told him he can’t trust MJF. We then have MJF walked up saying hi to Cole and generic white guy. MJF said he doesn’t want to stick around here longer than he has to, so he & Cole leave together for their “team bonding”.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry Explains His Actions

Perry walked out rocking sunglasses, demanding they turn off Tarzan Boy, as the fans have ruined the song for him. Perry said he has a car waiting for him in the back, while everyone here in Canada are stuck in the wildfires. Perry said he’s cashing fat checks and banging the hottest girl in AEW. Did Perry turn on HOOK or did everyone else turn on Perry? After everything Perry has given to AEW, people expect Perry to pal around with a second generation entitled fraud, when the FTW Title isn’t even recognized. Perry never needed HOOK and their team was only popular because of Perry. He realizes what the FTW Title means to HOOK and his family, so that’s why he’s taking that title from HOOK. Before Perry can deliver his go home line, HOOK’s music interrupts, he sprints to the ring and the chase is on, as Perry bails through the fans and to the back. Taz said he can’t wait for Perry to get his ass whooped. A camera backstage is shown of Perry diving into an awaiting car, peeling out, with HOOK watching him drive away.

-Sammy Guevara brought back his cue cards in picture in picture deal, mainly talking about the main event tonight.

Ruby Soho (w/Saraya & Toni Storm) defeated Alexia Nicole

Soho got an early sweep and mocked Britt Baker before putting boots to Nicole. Soho chucked Nicole to the floor, where she was met with boots by Storm, as back inside; Soho hit a snap back suplex. Soho grabbed the rubber glove from referee Paul Turner and applied Lock Jaw for the easy submission. Post match, Saraya held Nicole as Soho spray painted an L on her for good measure.

Soho said Canada’s finest here wasn’t the original opponent, as due to the filthy germ ridden country, Britt Baker is sick. Soho said Baker & Adam Cole used to be a power couple, but hopes they never have kids, since they’ll be weak little bastards. A year ago Baker said Soho didn’t know who she was, but Soho loves who she is now, while Baker is a shell of herself. Last year, Baker barely beat Soho on her best day, but since then, The Outcasts have taken everything from Baker. This was a good promo from Soho.

-Highlights from Harley Cameron hitting on Anthony Bowens last week on Rampage is shown, with Bowens rejecting, informing her he’s gay. Backstage we then see QT Marshall, Johnny TV & Cameron challenging Matt Hardy & Brother Zay to a match on Rampage. Cameron did the moan that Zay always does, which confused Johnny & QT, but audibly popped Taz on commentary.

-In Excalibur’s rundown of upcoming matches for AEW TV, we find out Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee vs. Darby Allin & Orange Cassidy will take place next week in a Blind Eliminator Tournament match. I believe we were supposed to find out all the teams for that tournament tonight, but those were the only other two teams we learned, aside from MJF & Adam Cole.

Sting & Darby Allin defeated “The Painmaker” Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara in a Tornado Tag Match

(I’ll ask this as nicely as possible, can we please stop trying to kill Sting? My goodness, he’s defying all the odds at his age, but I’m absolutely terrified whenever he takes big bumps and tonight was no different. This was a wild, chaotic and fun match, continuing the Jericho & Sting feud, but man was that table spot with Sting & Guevara hard to watch. Ultimately Sting finished the match, but wow, just wow, this was quite the main event.)

Allin hit a shotgun dropkick on Guevara immediately, as Jericho smacked Sting in the arm with Floyd the bat, as Sting & Jericho jousted with their bats until Allin came sprinting in. Sting hit a Stinger Splash, but Guevara laid out Allin with a top rope cutter. Guevara & Jericho put the boots to Sting, until Guevara throws a ladder into the ring. Allin was launched into the ring steps, but flipped up, cleared them and smacked his back on the barricade, landing in the front row. During commercial, all four men brawled in the crowd as Jericho ripped a Sting sign apart and shoved it in Sting’s mouth.

Guevara hit a leaping cutter off the barricade to the ringside floor onto Allin, but as Guevara tended to Jericho & Sting, this allowed Allin to wipe out Guevara with a Coffin Drop. Sting & Allin set up multiple tables, as Allin got the ladder in position, despite the tables being quite a distance away. Allin climbed the ladder, but Sting climbed as well, telling Allin he wanted to do it. Sting leapt from the ladder and splashed Guevara through only one of the tables, really putting himself sternum first in a wild spot.

Allin wiped out Jericho on the opposite side with a dive and back inside dropped in with a skateboard off the top to the back. Jericho side stepped Allin, who crashed face first into the ladder, as Jericho followed by dropping the ladder onto Allin’s spine. Allin reversed a corner whip and Jericho went face first into the ladder, busting Jericho open. Allin tried a Coffin Splash, but Jericho popped him in the back with the skateboard. A Judas Effect sent Allin to the floor, as Sting rose from the dead, tried a Scorpion Death Drop, but Jericho countered into the Walls of Jericho. Sting crawled to the bat and leveled Jericho in the head with it. Sting hit one Stinger Splash, but as he leapt for another, Jericho hit a Code Breaker for two. Sting ducked a Judas Effect into the Scorpion Death Drop for a near fall as well. Jericho leapt for a dropkick, but Sting caught him into the Scorpion Death Lock for the submission.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they throw it to the entrances for our opening contest.

The Gunns (Austin & Colten) defeated The Hardys (Matt & Jeff)

(The opening match itself I thought was better than the six man tag at Double or Nothing, with the crowd hot throughout. The bigger story is the post match, as it certainly appears The Gunns have joined Bullet Club Gold, who enjoyed the numbers in their favor only briefly, as the main event for the next Collision seems to be made.)

While commentary talked about how this match was made to see who was the best brother tag team, Excalibur pointed out how the Lucha Brothers, Young Bucks & Top Flight are all on the roster, which you can also add Rush & Dralistico as well. Jeff launched early off Matt’s back into a corner splash and followed with Whisper in the Wind on Austin. Colten blindsided Jeff to allow The Gunns to gain control momentarily until a Matt hot tag. Austin was planted with a Side Effect and Twist of Fate, but Colten saved his brother and put the foot on the rope. Austin missed a Fame Asser, but Matt missed another Twist of Fate, allowing Colten to hit a spinning underhook suplex.

Jeff tagged back in and cleaned house with a double DDT and double low leg drop. Jeff sent Colten flying with a Twist of Fate, but as he went up top, Juice Robinson appeared and distracted the referee. Switchblade Jay White shoved Jeff off the top, allowing The Gunns to hit 3:10 to Yuma and steal the win.

Post match, White dropped Matt with a Blade Runner while Robinson dropped Jeff with a Left Hand of God. Matt was about to suffer the same fate when Ricky Starks ran out to make the save, but was quickly outnumbered. FTR sprinted out to a huge ovation, but the numbers again were too much. CM Punk ran out to even the odds, as Bullet Club Gold & The Gunns bailed before Robinson suffered another GTS. Punk took the microphone and issued a challenge for Collision Saturday, as he said he’s not even supposed to be on Dynamite.

Mark Briscoe defeated Jeff Jarrett in a Concession Stand Brawl

(While last week on Rampage, Mark Briscoe found backup in the form of his father and Aubrey Edwards, tonight it was a lot more to fend off Jarrett & crew. This was a fun brawl in another chapter in a pretty fun rivalry.)

Excalibur made sure to mention the famous first ever Concession Stand Brawl involving Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, Larry Latham & Wayne Ferris. Both Briscoe & Jarrett were waiting for the match to officially begin by referee Paul Turner, who called for the bell and Briscoe almost immediately threw Jarrett through a table. Briscoe chucked hot dogs at Jarrett, whose hair is bright yellow from the mustard and now his hair looks like the early 90s. Karen Jarrett appeared and blinded Briscoe, as one of the concession attendants, who was independent wrestler Blair Onyx, helped Briscoe with water to clear his eyes. Briscoe set up Jarrett on a table, climbed a ladder, but someone in a hoodie climbed the ladder and shoved Briscoe through the table. That person was Sonjay Dutt, as Jarrett & Briscoe brawled into the crowd during commercial, as Jay Lethal popped up to help during that time.

It’s 3 on 1 back from break in the ring as Lethal went to grab the ring attendant table, but an awaiting Papa Briscoe chokeslammed Lethal through it. Papa Briscoe cleaned house on Dutt & Jarrett until Karen hit a low blow. Mark fired off redneck kung-fu on Jeff, trying for a Jay Driller, but Satnam Singh appeared and laid out Mark with a chokeslam. Best Friends, Lucha Bros & Christopher Daniels ran out to fend off Singh, as Fenix dropped him with a massive springboard splash. Penta cracked Jarrett with a superkick as Briscoe got a school boy to win it.

-Backstage The BCC are with Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita. Jon Moxley issues a 5 on 5 challenge to The Elite, as The BCC & Takeshita will have Moxley’s protégé Shota Umino by their side. Moxley said The Rainmaker will have a nightmare on Sunday thanks to the best wrestler in the world. Danielson said he challenged Okada to a face to face tonight, but he doesn’t believe Okada is even in the building. When they step in the ring, Danielson will prove Okada is an amateur. If Okada doesn’t answer the call out, he’ll prove he’s an amateur and coward.

**********

-A video package highlighting the debut of Collision was shown.

Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara & Minoru Suzuki defeated Action Andretti, Darius Martin & AR Fox

(I enjoyed the chaos of this six man quite a bit, as we had fun callbacks of the Andretti & Jericho feud, while everyone else got off their big time moves. The post match, I completely understand them saving the announcement of Sting & Allin’s partner for the PPV for Collision, but it ended the segment on a pretty weak note, as the crowd wasn’t happy they had to wait.)

The crowd doing the Kaze Ni Nare chant during Suzuki’s entrance will never get old, no matter the company. Excalibur asked Schiavone if he ever thought he’d see Suzuki team with Jericho & Guevara, but these three teamed together at the last Forbidden Door. Guevara & Andretti had a lighting fast opening sequence before Suzuki & Martin tagged in with Suzuki daring Martin to chop him. Suzuki just ate them and dropped Martin with violent forearms. Jericho & Suzuki double teamed Martin briefly before doing Le Sex Gods pose that popped everyone. Fox jumped in and briefly had control of Jericho, who pulled referee Aubrey in front of him to gain control into commercial.

Fox made the hot tag to Andretti, who fought off the man he upset in his AEW debut, as Jericho responded with chops until Andretti wiped out Guevara with a dive and Jericho with a springboard attack. A shotgun dropkick sent Jericho flying into the corner, but a missed split legged moonsault landed Andretti into Suzuki’s clutches. Martin broke it up and Suzuki dropped him with one shot. The match broke down with back and forth high flying attacks until Fox hit an inverted springboard somersault senton to the floor. Andretti nearly beat Jericho the same way he did before with a running shooting star, but Jericho escaped at two. The match broke down with Suzuki planting Fox with a Gotch Style Piledriver, as Martin ran wild on Jericho, who blocked a dive into a nasty Lion Tamer for the submission.

Post match Renee Paquette interviewed the winning team in the ring, as she asked Jericho about being face to face with Sting for the first time last week. Jericho ripped the microphone from her hands and called it a monumental moment in wrestling history. Everyone was excited except Jericho, who called Sting a whore for showing up wherever the highest bidder is. Jericho issued a challenge to Sting, Darby Allin and partner to face Le Suzuki Gods at Forbidden Door. Sting & Allin walked to the ring as Sting put his arm around Jericho and said they accept the challenge. Allin said Jericho made a lot of enemies in a lot of places and said Jericho will find out their partner at Collision, which deflated the crowd and got boos since they won’t find out tonight.

-Tony Schiavone & RJ City are backstage with names in a tumbler to determine the pairings for the Blind Eliminator Tournament next week. Schiavone picked out two names, but never told us who, instead saying we’ll find out the brackets next week.

**********

-The Elite are backstage talking about The BCC’s challenge earlier in the night. Hangman Page said while the numbers don’t look to be in their favor, they have friends all over. Kenny Omega said thankfully a lot of people hate Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita, as Eddie Kingston walked into the shot. While Kingston doesn’t like The Elite, he hates Claudio Castagnoli more, so he’ll team with The Elite, but he gets to name the final partner. The Elite accept the terms and Kingston walks out of frame.

Adam Cole & MJF Face Off

Cole came to the ring to a huge ovation and said he had to give the Devil his due last week. While Cole didn’t win, neither did MJF and said it was smart to not accept 5 more minutes after the 30 minute draw. Cole called out MJF, who had a massive reaction from the crowd, as MJF told the mouth breathers to keep their mouths shut. MJF said Cole should thank him for bringing out the best of him last week. MJF said he had Cole beat last week, so while Cole wants a rematch, for his well being and health, MJF declines the rematch. Cole said they could fight tonight when Tony Schiavone stood up from the commentary table and said he had an announcement as Cole & MJF both told him to shut up simultaneously in a great moment.

Schiavone talked about the Blind Eliminator tournament and how the names he drew earlier were Adam Cole & MJF. Cole was furious having to team with MJF, while MJF was upset he has to wrestle every week. Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared on the big screen and talked about his challenge last week to MJF, who was going to reject the challenge again when Cole goaded him into accepting with chanting coward. MJF accepts the challenge, as Cole pats him on the shoulder and said good luck, partner.

The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Brackets Announced

Excalibur informs us via graphic the brackets for the tournament, as Sunday at Forbidden Door CM Punk faces Satoshi Kojima, then on the June 29th Collision, Roderick Strong vs. Samoa Joe, Dustin Rhodes vs. Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks vs. Juice Robinson will all take place.

The women’s tournament will feature Athena vs. Billie Starkz at the Zero Hour of Forbidden Door, while Anna Jay battles Skye Blue on Rampage Friday, Nyle Rose takes on Willow Nightingale on Collision and next Wednesday Ruby Soho vs. Britt Baker in a rematch of last year’s final.

NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. & Daniel Garcia defeated AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy & ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata

(This was a fun tag match and ultimate set up for the Forbidden Door match. At first I thought we’d be getting two singles matches at the PPV, but it makes more sense to potentially save Garcia vs. Shibata for the ROH PPV. Cassidy will again find the odds against him on Sunday.)

A nice opening back and forth grappling sequence between Sabre & Shibata before Garcia & Cassidy jumped in for a 4 way face off with referee Bryce trying to gain order into commercial. Back from break, Shibata & Sabre picked up where they left off, as Shibata worked the ankle until Sabre escaped into a cravat. Sabre blocked a Cobra Twist with a flying octopus hold, but Shibata escaped. Garcia & Cassidy made the tag and dance at one another briefly to pop the crowd, as Cassidy fired off offense with his hands in the pockets. Sabre tagged in and applauded the tricks, daring Cassidy to hit him, as Cassidy threw his little kicks. A series of switches by Cassidy ended in Sabre twisting the neck with his feet to gain control. Garcia & Sabre kept Cassidy isolated as they went to another commercial.

Cassidy fought back with a Stundog Millionaire on Sabre to make the hot tag to Shibata, who fired off kicks, forearms and upper cuts. Sabre went at the arm, allowing Garcia to pick up the pieces and zone in. Shibata fired back with the good arm until Garcia mocked the Shibata pose and sat in the ring eating little kicks by Cassidy & Shibata. Both men went wild with forearms and dueling running dropkicks as Sabre was taken out by a diving Cassidy, while Garcia ate another corner dropkick from Shibata. Garcia rolled through on Shibata and sank in the Dragon Tamer, which Shibata countered into an arm breaker. Sabre broke things up, but ate a Cassidy spinning DDT. Shibata & Garcia no sold strikes until Garcia ducked and Orange Punch, as Cassidy cracked Shibata by mistake. Garcia got a school boy and stole the win. Garcia held up the AEW International Title, but Sabre grabbed it, then Shibata as well, as we’re told Cassidy will defend the title in a Four Way at Forbidden Door. Cassidy ripped the title from Shibata’s hands and walked to the back.

-Alex Marvez is backstage and walks up to Will Ospreay, who is just getting to the arena. Marvez asks about Ospreay disparaging Canadian fans ahead of Forbidden Door and Ospreay said AEW will have to get security for him. Don Callis walks in and said he can provide security saying he’ll do it as a favor. Ospreay asks what is in it for Callis, who said he just wants Ospreay to defeat Kenny Omega and get the three.

**********

-We learn from a video package that AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm will defend her title against NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale at Forbidden Door

Kris Statlander defeated Taya Valkyrie to retain the TBS Title

(In my opinion this was a fantastic back and forth battle, with both ladies looking excellent. This was the best Valkyrie has looked in AEW and one of Statlander’s strongest matches as well.)

Statlander mowed down Valkyrie with a shoulder tackle and corner chops early, but as Statlander charged, Valkyrie just slapped the taste out of her mouth. Both ladies traded more chops until Valkyrie put together a series of kicks, only to get low bridged to the floor by Statlander. A standing shooting star from the apron by Statlander, who took too long to send Valkyrie back in the ring and ate a shotgun dropkick to the floor to put Valkyrie in control during commercial.

Both ladies connected with high kicks at the same time into the double down. Statlander fought back with a running corner knee and spinning fisherman’s driver for two. Valkyrie countered Statlander’s finisher with a double arm underhook driver for two of her own, as Statlander avoided a curb stomp with a huge spear. Statlander missed a clothesline and Valkyrie hit a spear of her own followed by a sliding German with Statlander hung up in the ropes. Valkyrie went up top, but Statlander cut her off with a superplex. Statlander connected with Wednesday Night Fever to retain the title.

**********

Eddie Kingston is in the ring, thanks the crowd for their ovation and has to put a shirt on because he just had surgery and ate a lot of ice cream. Kingston said there are a lot of things going on he doesn’t agree with, including someone who he thought was his homeboy, but despite not liking The Bucks, he hates Claudio Castagnoli more. Jon Moxley emerges from the crowd and he comes to the ring to face off with Kingston. Moxley said Kingston is drawing a line at Forbidden Door, which Kingston interrupted and said Moxley drew the line teaming with that scum bag. Kingston fired up and wanted Moxley to say something, but because he wouldn’t, Kingston just announced the fifth man for the Forbidden Door tag match as Tomohiro Ishii.

Ishii came to the ring as Bryan Danielson, Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli hit the ring to attack Kingston & Ishii. Danielson took the mic and said if Okada isn’t showing up, he’s going to stomp Ishii’s face in. The sound of coins dropping could only mean one thing, as Okada ran out and had a faceoff with Danielson. Yuta attacked Okada from behind, as Danielson was going to hit his charging knee, but Okada ducked and Danielson hit Yuta. Okada nearly hit a Rainmaker on Danielson, who bailed quickly. This left Yuta to eat a Rainmaker as Okada stood tall staring down Danielson at the ramp.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they immediately go to the entrances for our opener with huge title implications.

AEW World Champion MJF vs. Adam Cole ended in a 30 Minute Time Limit Draw

(This was a PPV caliber match to kick off the show, with the finish allowing the chase for Cole to continue without MJF getting pinned. I was caught off guard by the finish, but it certainly makes sense, as Cole didn’t win, but also didn’t lose. The rematch, whenever it happens, will be excellent I’m sure.)

MJF mocked Cole early with a Fargo Strut and Rick Rude hip swivel before narrowly dodging a Cole superkick, taking an early powder. Jumping the rail into the crowd, MJF threw popcorn at fans and knocked the hat off another. Back inside, MJF got an eye rake, but trash talked too long and Cole turned the tables, backdropping MJF to the floor. MJF tripped up Cole in the ring apron and targeted the left arm of Cole in the ring, trying to soften it up for Salt of Earth. MJF drove Cole to the mat with a pumphandle half nelson driver and mocked a Shawn Michaels pose soon after signaling for Sweet Chin Music, but Cole fired off a superkick of his own, busting open MJF’s mouth.

Cole battled back with offense using his good arm and connecting with a back stabber for two. MJF avoided Panama Sunrise, but Cole in turn dodged a Heat Seeker. MJF answered with a nasty double underhook shoulder breaker, but as he tried for another, Cole hit a kneecap brainbuster followed by a Ushigoroshi for two. Cole wanted a Florida Keys on the apron, but MJF ultimately countered into a Tombstone Piledriver on the hardest part of the ring to head into picture in picture.

MJF let Cole slowly recover as eventually Cole tried for The Boom, but MJF flattened him with a lariat into a double down and loud ovation from the crowd. Both men took turns countering submissions including a crossface, Salt of the Earth, ankle lock and LeBell Lock. MJF spiked Cole with a Heat Seeker as referee Bryce checked on Cole and MJF cleared off the ring attendant table, setting Cole up. MJF went to the top and hit a massive elbow drop from the ring to the floor through a table. MJF wanted a countout victory, but Cole just broke the count.

MJF went after Cole on the apron, but was planted with a Florida Keys straightjacket suplex. In the ring, Cole wanted Panama Sunrise, but MJF suckered Cole to the other side of the ring and hit a double stomp on the injured arm. MJF barked at the referee about his slow count, as Cole rolled up MJF, who knocked Cole into the referee. MJF grabbed the AEW Title, tried the Eddie Guerrero spot, but Bryce face planted and never saw Cole with the title, who clobbered MJF with it before lowering The Boom for a close two.

As Cole pulled him up, MJF grabbed the official and mule kicked Cole before putting on his Dynamite Diamond Ring. MJF went for the home run shot, but Bryce stopped him, ripped the ring off, as Cole hit a superkick, Panama Sunrise and The Boom and was about to get the win when the bell sounded. We are told it’s a 30 Minute Time Limit Draw, which infuriated the fans. Cole grabbed a microphone and wanted 5 more minutes, but MJF bailed.

-A video package showcasing the upcoming return of CM Punk is shown. Punk is training and said there are still things left to do. Punk won’t know what he will do or say until he has the microphone in his hand and has a lot to get off his chest.

Sammy Guevara Returns

Renee Paquette introduced Guevara to the ring, who said in recent weeks he’s had the highest of highs with the announcement of his wife Tay Melo being pregnant with a baby girl, to the lowest of lows, losing the AEW Title 4 Way at Double or Nothing. Guevara said he’s going to have to make some changes, but before he could follow up, Darby Allin made his way to the ring. Allin congratulated Guevara on the baby announcement and said the crowd seems to love him again, which got a mixed reaction. Allin asked if Guevara was going to continue to follow in the Jericho Appreciation Society footsteps, but this time Chris Jericho interrupted before Guevara could respond.

Jericho asked Guevara why he never asked for help in his quest for the AEW Title. Guevara said had Jericho called him, Jericho wouldn’t have lost to Adam Cole twice. Jericho demanded an apology, but Guevara refused, as Jericho said maybe they need reunite Le Sex Gods next week, have a tag match to remind Guevara who the boss truly is. Allin laughed and told Jericho the magic is gone, as Jericho was insulted, saying he & Guevara should beat down Allin 2 on 1. Allin said he’s not alone, as Sting made his way out.

Jericho & Sting had a face off for the first time in their careers as both took turns raising their baseball bats at the other. Jericho went to retreat and told Guevara to come with, but he didn’t follow. This turned into a pretty fun segment, as I didn’t realize it until Excalibur mentioned how this was the only time Jericho & Sting had been in the ring together.

**********

-A video from IWGP Champion SANADA is shown issuing an Open Challenge for an IWGP Title match at Forbidden Door. SANADA said he looks forward to see who on the AEW roster will answer the challenge.

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, Sting & Keith Lee defeated Mogul Embassy (Swerve Strickland, Brian Cage & The Gates of Agony)

(To say this was a party match would be an understatement, as these guys fit 15 minutes worth of action into about 7. At one point I thought Sting had hurt his leg, but he bounced back relatively well in a fun looking finish.)

I don’t know if it was just the camera shot, but we briefly saw the word NO on the screen at the beginning of this match, might be nothing, but on the off chance it’s something, it’s worth mentioning. Lighting fast start with Cage, rocking Sting inspired attire and face paint, as Taz brought up the past between Cage, Sting & Allin during the Team Taz feud. Cage caught Cassidy’s dive attempt as Allin hit a Code Red on Strickland, but was crotched in the ropes before a Coffin Drop. We saw about 30 seconds of action until going to picture in picture when The Mogul Embassy isolated Allin. We saw Daniel Garcia watching from backstage while Allin blocked a JML Driver by Strickland into an over the top stunner.

Lee made the hot tag and ran wild, finally getting his hands on Strickland until Cage cut off Lee in the corner with Mogul Embassy hitting a triple powerbomb double stomp combo. Cassidy & Allin broke up the pin, as Cassidy hit a DDT on Strickland, but Cage answered with an F-5. Everyone took turns hitting big time moves until Sting sort of fell to the mat awkwardly. The match broke down with Lee launching guys to the floor, Allin hitting a Coffin Drop to the outside as Cage tried an F-5 on Sting, but Cassidy hit an Orange Punch with Sting following it up with a Scorpion Death Drop for the victory.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Gunns, as she asks their relationship with Jay White following the finish to the main event last week. The Gunns played dumb and said they’re the best brother tag team in AEW, issuing a challenge to The Hardys next week.

Wardlow (w/Arn Anderson) defeated Jake Hager to retain the TNT Title

(Wardlow gets the victory in the rubber match in a feud dating back a few years. Post match, the next challenger is official for the TNT Champion.)

Hager ran out and attacked Wardlow from behind during his entrance and was in control for about 30 seconds until Wardlow started dishing out clotheslines. Hager was backdropped to the floor and leveled with a charging clothesline as this was one of the few times a babyface remained in control for almost the entire picture in picture. I say almost since Wardlow missed a corner charge and Hager slapped on the Ankle Lock.

Wardlow rolled through and connected with a spinebuster, but as he went for a powerbomb, Angelo Parker & Matt Menard came to ringside. Hager chop blocked Wardlow as Arn Anderson was about to pull out the finger guns and go Armed Anderson until Brock Anderson ran out and fought off Parker & Menard to the back with his father. Hager was clotheslined to the floor and Wardlow hit a slingshot dive before connecting with a Senton Bomb back inside. The straps came down and Wardlow hit the Powerbomb Symphony to retain.

Christian Cage & Luchasaurus tried to cut a promo on the big screen, but the audio wasn’t working for the first half. We heard the important part, as this Saturday it will be Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus at Collision. Cage said what will happen when Wardlow’s new daddy won’t be there to save him? They cut to Luchasaurus holding a bloody Arn Anderson, as Wardlow sprinted to the back. I guess Luchasaurus & Cage caught up to Arn quickly after he went to the back during the match?

-A video is shown by The Ace of New Japan, Hiroshi Tanahashi, who said as long as MJF is AEW Champion, the title won’t shine like it should. Tanahashi came very close to beating Jon Moxley at Forbidden Door last year and issues a challenge to MJF. Renee Paquette approached MJF backstage being attended by a doctor and told him it’s official at Forbidden Door, which MJF declined, calling Tanahashi a rando from a rinky dink indy fed in Japan. MJF said it won’t be the first time he’s no showed a match Tony Khan has booked him for, telling Tanahashi no again.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Orange Cassidy, as she asks what the future holds and Cassidy said everyone knows how it works; someone walks in and challenges him. Zack Sabre Jr. is right on cue and said the idea of being a double champion sounds marvelous. Daniel Garcia walked in and asked Cassidy where Katsuyori Shibata is, as Cassidy said Shibata isn’t here, but sets up Cassidy & Shibata vs. Sabre & Garcia next week.

Toni Storm (w/Ruby Soho) defeated Skye Blue to retain the AEW Women’s Title

(Blue put up a good fight and the crowd bit for the false finish at the end, but the numbers game once again proved to be too much.)

Saraya refused to show up to DC, so in her absence Soho is carrying a Saraya on a Stick. Blue started fast, punting Soho on the apron and dropping Storm with a cross body for two. Blue gave Storm a taste of her own medicine and hit a hip attack o the outside. Storm & Soho got up and sprayed Blue’s mother in the face ringside. Blue followed with a dive to the outside taking out both Storm & Soho, but Storm regained control during commercial.

Blue fired back with a head scissors and step up knee in the ropes as a kick to the head sent Storm into the ropes. Storm used a handful of tights to pull Blue to the floor, as Soho passed Storm the spray paint can. Soho took the ref, but Blue had spray paint of her own, blinded Storm and hit the Code Blue to a massive reaction. Soho distracted the ref enough to stall the pin attempt and ate a Blue thrust kick. Blue charged and was hung up in the ropes by Storm, dropped with Storm Zero and tapped out to a Texas Cloverleaf. Post match, Soho & Storm attacked Blue more until Willow Nightingale hit the ring to run off The Outcasts.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with HOOK & Jack Perry, who said the summer of Jungle HOOK is in full swing. Perry said he feels naked without championship gold, so he officially accepts SANADA’s IWGP Title challenge for Forbidden Door. Paquette asks HOOK his thoughts, but Perry interrupts and says this came up quick, calls HOOK his best friend and asks him to corner Perry at Forbidden Door. HOOK gave the fist bump, as I firmly expect the wheels to eventually fall off Jungle HOOK sooner rather than later.

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) & Hangman Adam Page defeated Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta

(The match itself was an action packed sprint, but the post match just got bigger and better. From the return of Eddie Kingston, The Elite getting their hands on Takeshita, to finally the appearance of Will Ospreay, the final 5 minutes of this show were wild.)

Bryan Danielson joined commentary as The Young Bucks, who are having their first match on Dynamite in 3 months, are dressed like cowboys with Hangman Page as all six men start brawling early. The Elite hit triple superkicks to send the BCC outside where Matt laid out Yuta with a powerbomb on the edge of the apron, while Nick & Page took out Moxley & Castagnoli with double dives. Nick hit a springboard face buster to Moxley, but as he tried a moonsault to the floor, Castagnoli caught him with a slam. Matt hit a huge cross body to the floor to take out Moxley & Castagnoli, but was dropped with a Yuta German suplex. Moxley fought back with a King Kong lariat on Nick, who remained isolated during commercial.

Nick got the hot tag to Page, as Danielson points out how something could be wrong with Moxley’s arm or elbow, he was clutching it. Page continued to run wild on Yuta & Castagnoli, as Yuta ate a buckle bomb and double enzugiris by The Bucks. Matt did his locomotion Northern Lights on Yuta, then one on both Yuta & Moxley for good measure. A springboard double stomp by Nick, who rolled through and ate a Moxley cutter. Moxley & Castagnoli connected with a Doomsday Device on Matt, as Moxley sank in a rear naked choke, but Nick hit a Swanton Bomb to break it up. Castagnoli no sold a superkick and just flattened Matt leading to a Rocket Launcher attempt by Yuta, but Matt got the knees up. Superkick Party commenced, as Page made the tag, laid out Yuta with a pop up powerbomb, as The Bucks hit the BTE Trigger, while Page finished him off with a Buckshot Lariat to get the win.

Post match, Castagnoli & Moxley attacked as Moxley launched Nick over the barricade until Eddie Kingston’s music hits and out runs Kingston to double leg Castagnoli. The brawl was on, as Yuta was dispatched until Moxley & Kingston had a face off. The Bucks attacked Moxley and a scuffle happened with Konosuke Takeshita hitting the ring to attack Kingston. This led to Kenny Omega hitting the ring to brawl with Takeshita, who was planted with a Snap Dragon while The Bucks & Page took out the BCC with triple dives. Right as Omega was going to do a Terminator Dive, Will Ospreay appeared and wiped out Omega to loud Holy Sh*t chants. Ospreay clocked Omega with Hidden Blade and stood tall as Bryan Danielson said he thinks Ospreay will be the winner at Forbidden Door. For good measure, Ospreay connected with Storm Breaker to stand tall. Don Callis is ringside, while Danielson is at the top of the stage, both applauding Ospreay’s actions. Ospreay got off one more Hidden Blade before they went off the air.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they immediately throw to our opening title match of the evening.

Orange Cassidy defeated Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) to retain the AEW International Title

(A phenomenal opening contest and title defense number 24 for Cassidy, who again managed to survive by the skin of his teeth. Cassidy ultimately out swerved Swerve as we’re building to a presumed six man tag with Sting & Darby as Cassidy’s backup.)

Cassidy tried early mind games with his little kicks, but Strickland did a good job scouting by grounding the champion. Cassidy answered with a relaxed submission into a head scissors, sending Strickland to the floor. Strickland mocked the pocket pose and suckered Cassidy to the floor where he gained control, slamming the bad hand of Cassidy into the post. Back inside momentarily, Cassidy did a victory roll over the top back outside, where Strickland held on and Cassidy hit the roll into the barricade followed by a dive. They return to the ring where Cassidy got a two off a top rope cross body, until both fought up the ropes where both slammed down head first on the turnbuckle to send us to break. I should point out during commercial, an ad for Collision was shown saying it will be the second coming of CM Punk.

Strickland gained the advantage during picture in picture, as Cassidy battled out of the JML Driver; tried Beach Break, Cassidy’s back seized up, but did manage a Stundog Millionaire. Cassidy charged, but Strickland countered into a rolling Flatliner. Cassidy tried the light strikes, ultimately planting Strickland with a DDT for two. Cassidy was cut off and planted with a DVD on the apron, but scooted away before a double stomp could follow. With Strickland backed up onto the steps, Cassidy connected on a diving DDT from the apron the floor. Back inside, another diving DDT off the top for a close near fall.

Cassidy countered a pop up powerbomb into a hurricanrana pin, but couldn’t hook Strickland’s leg due to his bad hand. Prince Nana tried to run distraction, as Strickland collided with his manager into a Cassidy Orange Punch and Beach Break, but Strickland kicked out, bailing outside. Cassidy tried another DDT dive, but Strickland caught him into a brainbuster on the floor. Back in the ring, Strickland hit the House Call kick and Swerve Stomp, but Cassidy kicked out and Strickland couldn’t believe it. Cassidy rolled through a JML Driver, as both men tried roll ups with handfuls of tights, as Cassidy got the last laugh, getting the three count. Strickland cheated first, but Cassidy cheated more effectively in the end.

Mogul Embassy hit the ring to immediately beat down Cassidy when the lights went out and when they returned, Darby Allin & Sting were in the ring as everyone else had bailed to the ramp.

-A video package highlighting Switchblade Jay White & Ricky Starks is shown ahead of their match tonight. That will be the main event this evening.

Bryan Danielson makes his way to the commentary table ahead of the next match and we get a video package of Danielson challenging Kazuchika Okada during the Dominion show earlier in the week and Okada accepting the fight for Forbidden Door. When Okada steps in the ring with Danielson, he’s stepping foot in the desert and there will be no rain for the Rainmaker.

Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) defeated CHAOS (Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero)

(This was an action packed six man with the CHAOS boys getting off a lot of offense in this, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to overcome Moxley, Castagnoli and Yuta, who are on a whole other level right now. I have really enjoyed how much of a killer they’ve turned Yuta into over the course of the last few weeks.)

Excalibur mentions for those unaware how Best Friends are members of CHAOS along with Romero, as the faction is head up by one Kazuchika Okada. Taylor & Beretta chucked chairs at Yuta & Moxley immediately, as Romero hit a dive onto Castagnoli. Beretta followed with a superplex on Yuta to start the match, as Taylor hit a snap piledriver on the man he trained for a near fall. The match broke down with brawling on the outside, as Taylor hit a somersault dive on Castagnoli leading to CHAOS giving the people what they wanted with a triple hug. Sole Food half and half suplex on Moxley led to Yuta tripping Taylor to lead to a Moxley cutter to gain control. Danielson was insulted Best Friends didn’t attempt a pin attempt before the BCC took over during picture in picture.

Taylor was worked over the entire break, eating a Yuta snap German suplex, but ultimately Taylor hit a knee to make the hot tag to Beretta who ran wild on Moxley. A blind tag to Romero, who ran wild a bit himself until Roppongi Vice hit a double jump knee on Moxley, who was hung up and hit with double team offense for two. Beretta blocked a Gotch Piledriver from Moxley, as Best Friends connected with Strong Zero for a close two. Romero sank in a cross arm breaker, as Beretta tried a moonsault to the floor on Castagnoli, who hit an incredible uppercut in mid air. Yuta clocked Taylor with a Busaiku Knee, as Moxley countered the submission from Romero into a Bulldog Choke for the victory. Yuta was relentless on his attack on Taylor post match as a smiling Danielson gave his approval on commentary.

-The Hung Bucks are backstage talking about how next week is where Dynamite began in Washington DC. The Bucks & Hangman Page issue a challenge for a six man tag next week against Moxley, Castagnoli & Yuta, which Danielson accepted on behalf of the BCC.

**********

-A video package of Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay is shown, highlighting their incredible match at Wrestle Kingdom earlier this year. Ospreay wants revenge for what Omega put him through and with his victory over Lance Archer at Dominion; the match is official with Omega vs. Ospreay 2 happening at Forbidden Door.

MJF Found His Worthy Competition

(After defending his AEW Title three times and saying he was out of competition, MJF had an answer to the call and it led to a pretty strong back and forth promo. While you could say this went a little long, I was happy that Cole got in his promo and this wasn’t just dominated by MJF talking the whole time. This should be a great match when it happens.)

MJF ran down the fans a bit, continuing to talk about how there’s no competition for him and says no one is on the level of the Devil. Adam Cole’s music hit, but before the crowd could say the Bay Bay line, MJF demanded the music be cut to loud boos. MJF said finally some competition, he said he’s a fan of Cole, as once CM Punk left him as a kid; he turned the channel to Ring of Honor, which he thought sucked, but was hooked on Cole’s work. MJF mentioned Cole’s time in CZW, traveling the indies, going to Florida to Shock the System as Shawn Michaels handpicked guy, which is Undisputed. MJF followed in Cole’s footsteps, going to CZW, becoming a name on the indies and signing with AEW, destined to one day feud with Cole. MJF was disappointed The Panama Playboy was gone, but The Panama Gameboy is here, more preoccupied playing video games with his balls always in Britt Baker’s purse. MJF said Cole is now so frail he makes crack whores jealous. MJF said the fans might think Cole isn’t utilized properly, but AEW has done everything they could to make Cole over, when all they have to do for MJF is ring the bell. MJF has the best Dog Collar, Iron Man, Four Way in AEW history. MJF said he heard a rumor that a certain individual in Titan Towers didn’t think Cole could make it and named Vince McMahon, who MJF is a big fan of. MJF thought the old man lost his marbles, but standing in the ring with Cole, Vince was right.

Cole asked if that was the best MJF got, as MJF is coming across like an internet troll. Cole questions MJF’s fascination on other people’s relationships and asks if that’s why his fiancé left him. Cole said MJF is world class, a world class douchebag. Cole in regards to his body of work, MJF couldn’t touch him and asked if they should go backstage, piss in cups and take tests to see who is natural and who’s not. Cole swears on his life no one backstage respects MJF, as everyone thinks he’s selfish, conceited and does bare minimum to get to where he’s at.

MJF said he’ll cry into his money and how that’s tough talk coming from Keith Lee’s manager. Cole said that’s typical MJF, creating a false narrative, calling him a coward for not wanting to fight. Cole said he’s better than MJF and the fans know it. MJF said he’d fight Cole anywhere as Cole smirked and said attaboy, champ, before hitting the Adam Cole Bay Bay pose.

-We see footage of the Buy In at Double or Nothing where The Hardys gained control of Ethan Page’s contract. Backstage, Matt, Jeff & Brother Zay introduce Page, who was ordered to apologize to Zay for injuring his neck last month. Page apologized, as Matt said he could make Page very talented. Zay moaned in Page’s ear and this storyline seems destined to go on forever.

Jack Perry & FTW Champion HOOK defeated Preston Vance & Dralistico (w/Jose the Assistant) in a Texas Tornado Match

(For a match that was only set up a week ago, this was a wild battle, as similar to the previous Texas Tornado Match, Preston Vance bled another gusher.)

Vance & Dralistico attacked Perry on the ramp during his entrance, as Jose threw in cable chords in the ring, as Vance tried to charge at HOOK ringside with a chain, but HOOK low bridged and brawled into the crowd. Perry choked Dralistico with the chord and ripped at the mask, as Vance & HOOK kept brawling into commercial.

Back from break, Dralistico hit a double stomp on Perry, who was tied up in the ropes. HOOK leapt off the barricade and popped Vance with a chain wrapped punch to bust Vance open badly. Perry tried a dive, but Vance caught him and Dralistico followed with a leap off the top to the floor. With two tables set up ringside, HOOK fought off a double choke slam and hit an overhead throw on Dralistico, whose mask is ripped apart from earlier by Perry. Vance hit a discus lariat on HOOK, wrapping the chain around the neck and went to the apron when Perry flew in with a chair shot to the head. HOOK hit a nasty T-Bone suplex off the apron through the tables as Perry spiked Dralistico with a DDT in the ring, but Jose made the save, took his shirt off and hulked up, only to be choked out by REDRUM. Perry sank in the Snare Trap on Dralistico and Jungle HOOK got the double tap to win it.

Tony Khan’s AEW Collision Announcement

Tony Khan is backstage with what has become his weekly announcement. Khan said AEW Collision starts June 17th and says the main event for the debut show will be Switchblade Jay White, Juice Robinson & Samoa Joe will battle AEW Tag Team Champions FTR & CM Punk.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/Don Callis) defeated Damon Ace

(This was another week of nuclear heat for Callis & Takeshita and it’s simply wonderful.)

Takeshita charged at Ace with strikes as the fans are just letting Callis have it with boos. Ace got off one strike until Takeshita leveled him with a shot followed by a running knee strike to win it. As the entire match went on, the big screen repeatedly played Callis turning on Kenny Omega.

Callis took the microphone and said unlike last week, he will be heard. Takeshita took the mic and spoke Japanese briefly before Callis said everything Omega had in his life was because of him. Omega defeated Will Ospreay because of Callis and Omega has become a cancer in Callis’ body, so he cut it out. Callis and his family will cut The Elite from AEW for good.

-Alex Marvez was backstage at Christian Cage’s locker room where commotion was heard. Cage came out and said he was the uncrowned TNT Champion, something Arn Anderson cost him. So Cage revealed that Luchasaurus had bloodied Arn’s son, Brock and said it was an early Father’s Day present.

Kris Statlander defeated Anna Jay A.S. (w/Matt Menard) to retain the TBS Title

(Daddy Magic in his glorious David Puddy Seinfeld jacket, seemingly interfered as frequently as Elaine & Puddy would break up. Statlander chalked up another defense with Jay looking good even in defeat. We are clearly headed for Statlander taking on Taya, who is bitter about how Statlander became TBS Champion.)

Both ladies traded offense on the ground early until Statlander hit a back suplex out of a Jay headlock. Jay took a powder, tried to start a chase, as Menard ran distraction, but Jay’s kick from the apron was blocked. A thrust kick back inside led to a missed charge by Statlander with Jay hitting a spin kick to the back.

Jay controlled the entire break, but Statlander turned it around with corner charges and powerslam. For the second week, Taya Valkyrie is shown annoyed backstage watching on, as Statlander went to the top, was distracted again by Menard to allow Jay to plant Statlander for a near fall. Jay sank in the Queen Slayer, but Statlander powered up, whipped Jay down, hit a backbreaker and a Tombstone Piledriver for the win. Valkyrie was shown furious about Statlander’s title defense.

**********

Jay White defeated Ricky Starks

(This was a fun main event until the finish, which kind of sucked the air out of the crowd, not because of who won, just how it happened. The ref bump looked ridiculous and people weren’t sure what to make of the interference finish. Perhaps there are two new members of BC Gold? It certainly would be a weird choice in my opinion if so.)

Starks sprinted up the ramp to attack before the bell, as both men brawled ringside until Starks hit a high back drop and searched for something under the ring. This allowed White to crawl up the ramp, where Starks tried to throw him off the ramp, but White raked the eyes. White took way too long to follow up, as Starks countered a suplex with one of his own on the floor. That advantage was short lived, as White regained and remained in control during commercial.

White lit up Starks with chops until Starks woke up and fired off strikes until White crotched him trying a Tornado DDT. White connected on a massive superplex, signaled for Blade Runner, which Starks battled out of with a leaping lariat and the Tornado DDT. A full nelson slam only got Starks two, as he tried Roshambo, which White countered into a Uranage. Both traded strikes until Starks leapt for a Spear, but White countered with a pump knee. Starks floated over a suplex and hit the Spear the second attempt, as he hit Roshambo, but referee Paul Turner got clipped by pretty much the toe of White, so he bumped. The Gunns showed up and laid out Starks with 3:10 to Yuma, as White connected with Blade Runner for the win.

Post match, Juice Robinson ran out to celebrate as commentary assumes The Gunns interfered since they have a history with FTR, who are currently feuding with Bullet Club Gold.
