One of the biggest possible matches — both literally and figuratively — takes place on this installment of the DragonKingKarl Greatest Kayfabe Tournament.
What would happen if prime Brock Lesnar wrestled prime Andre the Giant?
Two of the most amazing special attraction wrestlers meet in this round with the winner advancing to meet Mitsuharu Misawa. I go into the history of both men and a look at what makes special attractions so great in pro wrestling.
According to Dave Meltzer on Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, the former seven-time WWE Champion and three-time Universal Champion will be “gone for a while” from the company.
Meltzer said Lesnar was originally scheduled for one of the upcoming pay-per-views, but that is no longer the case. There’s no definitive timeline for his return, but Meltzer speculated Lesnar would not be back for “four months or something like that.” He said Lesnar will return, but likely for WrestleMania season.
The 46-year-old just concluded his three-match series with Cody Rhodes at this past Saturday’s SummerSlam, taking the loss. The feud began after WrestleMania when Lesnar turned on Rhodes on the Raw the following night. Their first match took place at May’s Backlash, followed by a rematch at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia later that month.
The two shook hands after Saturday’s match, ending their feud.

Defeating Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam was a life highlight for Cody Rhodes.
Rhodes and Lesnar ended their storyline at SummerSlam this past Saturday. After being beaten down for much of the match, Rhodes came back to get the victory. He pinned Lesnar after hitting three straight Cross Rhodes.
Rhodes was interviewed by SI FanNation following SummerSlam. Rhodes said the victory was a top moment in his career — and one of the top moments of his life.
“I have been so consistently surprised that I can’t get used to these moments. First I won the Royal Rumble. Now I beat Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam? They’re once-in-a-lifetime moments in a once-in-a-lifetime run,” Rhodes said. “This is my mega run, and the journey has been incredible. This is a top moment in my career, and it’s also a top moment in my life.”
“As I saw him taking his gloves off, I sincerely thought he was going to start swinging,” Rhodes told SI FanNation. “Then we went head-to-head, and it felt like we were a millisecond away from starting up again. So I didn’t anticipate that handshake coming.
“When I saw his hand, I was grateful. That’s not something he does. Again, this run has consistently surprised me. The torch isn’t passed. You have to take it.”
Rhodes said he and Lesnar didn’t talk backstage after the handshake.
“I came to the back, there was a nice ovation in the Gorilla Position, but Brock was nowhere to be found,” Rhodes said. “I didn’t see him the rest of the night. The way I see it, we didn’t need to speak. Brock left it all in the ring.”
This was Rhodes’ second victory over Lesnar in a three-month period. Rhodes defeated Lesnar at SummerSlam and Backlash, while Lesnar won at Night of Champions.
Cody Rhodes stood tall in the final match of his trilogy against Brock Lesnar.
Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer both had praise for the match, which saw Cody Rhodes win after hitting three crossroads on Lesnar.
“I thought this was the best match on the show,” Alvarez said.
“I thought so too,” Meltzer said. “The other one I really liked was Finn Balor and Seth Rollins.”
After the match, Lesnar took off his gloves and shaked Rhodes’ hand, gave him a hug, and raised his arm in victory. Triple H later said in the press conference that this was not a planned spot, and Alvarez reiterated that this wasn’t the end of Lesnar in WWE.
“He’s advertised for Fast Lane,” Meltzer said, referring to WWE’s October premium live event. “So I don’t know if that’s when he returns. He’s going to be gone for a little while from what I was told, but not a long while, whatever that means.”
Other matches recapped in the clip include LA Knight winning the Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal, last eliminating Sheamus. Shayna Baszler also defeated Ronda Rousey in an MMA rules match, scoring a submission win with a rear naked choke.
The shocking end of Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam saw Jimmy Uso cost his brother, Jey, his match against Roman Reigns. After the masked man that was Jimmy broke up a pinfall, revealed himself and, after a very lengthy staredown, superkicked his own twin brother. Reigns ultimately won a plodding match that ended what was mostly a good show with a whimper.
Why exactly Jimmy turned on Jey we’ll find out over due time. Or maybe not as WWE storylines are weird like that sometimes. Perhaps it’s a short term feud leading to the two brothers ultimately reuniting to take on Reigns whenever he returns. It’s a weird twist to the ongoing Bloodline storyline that I didn’t really see coming. It was natural to assume that Reigns’ schedule for the rest of the fall would likely involve feuding with Jimmy and eventually Solo Sikoa. But now everything seems up in the air with the turn.
The match itself was not great. A lot of it was either Reigns and Jey staring at each other (creating DRAMA) or Reigns getting heat forever on Jey, neither of which was all that interesting in a show that had already reached the four-hour mark. Of course, Sikoa got involved and it did pick up a little from there, but ultimately the match was a disappointment in the long-running Bloodline feud which had mostly delivered up to this point.
Here’s my thoughts on the rest of the card:
Cody Rhodes defeated Brock Lesnar in what ended up being an excellent, dramatic match which I thought was the best match on the show in terms of storytelling and execution. The only drawback is that I thought the Lesnar beatdown was maybe a little too long, but it was effective in setting up Rhodes’ eventual comeback and win. The kimura spot toward the end was excellent — callback to their Saudi Arabia match. The question now is what will Rhodes do in the fall before the eventual return to feuding with Reigns. Judgment Day?
Logan Paul defeated Ricochet in the opening match. It was good and both came off as athletic, but for all the build, I kind of expected more. There were some cool moves, but I didn’t think anything was “going viral” as the advertising for this match had said. Paul won and probably needed to as he’s lost his last few matches and needs a few wins at this point.
There’s not much to say about the battle royal as it was every WWE battle royal you’ve ever seen. LA Knight finally got his big win, last eliminating Sheamus. Knight is a story to watch in the coming weeks as it’s clear he’s getting over despite his push. It may be time to push him like he’s a star and this may have been the start of that.
Oh boy, the MMA fight between Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. This didn’t work at all. They tried to work an MMA style match, but some of what they did didn’t make sense and the crowd completely turned on it with people visibly leaving the stands as Rousey and Baszler grappled. There was also a weird spot where Baszler got “injured” and they took a minute to send medical in to check on her which does not happen in an MMA fight. Then, Rousey destroyed the doctors which definitely does not happen in an MMA fight. This was a style WWE fans weren’t used to and were turned off by it as a result, and the confusing rules didn’t help much either. The match perfectly encapsulated Rousey’s second run in the WWE where there were a bunch of ideas, but none of them were executed well.
Gunther’s run as Intercontinental Champion continued as he downed Drew McIntyre. If you’ve seen these two wrestle, you know exactly what happened here. This was very good while it lasted, but by the end, I was thinking this would have been an excellent match if it had gone on for another few minutes. Still, with what they were given, this was a hard-hitting bout that delivered what you’d expect.
Finn Balor did not become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but had a match with Seth Rollins that was significantly better than their match at Money in the Bank and was the best match on the show in terms of in-ring action. This was a hot back and forth affair with some excellent near falls, including one at the end that I thought for sure was the finish when the Judgment Day interfered, distracting Rollins and allowing Balor to hit the sling blade and the Coup de Gras. But it was Damian Priest’s briefcase that cost Balor with Priest putting it on the apron as he distracted the referee, allowing Rollins to stomp Balor onto the briefcase for the win. I thought that they should hold off on a split between Priest and Balor as the act is pretty hot right now, but they seem to be moving forward with it.
The WWE Women’s Championship match also ended up being a very good match. I thought the finish was clever with Bianca Belair rolling up Asuka as she was in Charlotte Flair’s Figure Eight to score the surprise win. But that won’t be what people remember as IYO SKY immediately ran down to the ring. With Bayley’s help clearing the field, SKY cashed in, hit the moonsault, and won the title. I feel like the eventual WrestleMania match will be Belair vs. Flair, so there’s plenty of twists and turns left with this title until it’s time to go in that direction.
SummerSlam had its ups and downs, but overall I thought it was good with the Rhodes/Brock match probably being the highlight and Balor/Rollins not too far behind. With most of the spring and summer storylines now wrapped, it’s time to start building for the fall. We saw some glimpses, as it seems like a lock that Jimmy and Jey Uso will meet at Payback next month. We’ll likely be seeing more clues as soon as this week’s Raw and SmackDown.
Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar’s rivalry ended with a show of good sportsmanship.
The feud between the two came to an end with Rhodes defeating Lesnar at SummerSlam on Saturday night. After his loss, Lesnar went face-to-face with Rhodes. Lesnar then extended his hand for a handshake. The two shook hands, Lesnar hugged Rhodes, and Lesnar raised Rhodes’ arm in the air.
Lesnar beat down Rhodes throughout most of their match, including giving Rhodes an F5 through the announce table. Rhodes fought back and pinned Lesnar after hitting three consecutive Cross Rhodes. Rhodes also sent Lesnar into an exposed turnbuckle and applied a Kimura on Lesnar during his comeback.
Rhodes and Lesnar had a 1-1 record against each other entering SummerSlam. Rhodes defeated Lesnar at Backlash this May, but Lesnar evened things up with a victory at Night of Champions.
During an appearance on the SI Media podcast last week, Rhodes said he wanted SummerSlam to be the moment where he could move on from Lesnar and remind everyone that he’s still focused on his goal of winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship:
‘d love SummerSlam to be the moment that’s like, ‘Hey, moving forward. Hopefully defeating Brock Lesnar. Moving forward.’ And without saying anything. Without doing the old ‘this little number’ around the waist. Let them know, the thing I came back for, we’re still on the path. We’re still on the path. And I want to be confident about it in the best of ways because you rode with me all the way to WrestleMania in Los Angeles and hopefully they can ride with me to wherever it is and wherever we go next.
Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes had quite the segment on Monday’s Raw.
Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer discussed a segment from Monday on Wrestling Observer Radio where Lesnar came to the ring and demanded Rhodes shake his hand. Rhodes came to the ring and obliged. However, after Lesnar shoulder checked him on the way out, Rhodes attacked Lesnar with a dive to the outside. Lesnar got the advantage and beat up Rhodes not once, but three times before eventually leaving the area.
“I was flabbergasted watching this segment right here,” Alvarez said. “The idea is I’m supposed to go into the show more interested in this match than I was before Raw, and this did not do that. I was like, man, they killed Cody dead, they just made him look like a geek, he couldn’t do anything with this guy.”
Alvarez then admitted it was likely going to lead to a Rhodes victory against Lesnar on Saturday. Meltzer agreed.
“I think that’s the idea, they give fans credit…the fans, they kinda figure out because of the surprise booking that has been going on for all these years is the way to book is to destroy the babyface over and over and over again so people know the babyface is going to win, as opposed to the other way around,” he said.
Both agreed that the segment to build heat last week was effective, but doing it again even more so this week wasn’t nessecary.
Raw wrapped up its build to SummerSlam with last night’s episode taking place in Houston, Texas.
Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar were in the same building for the go-home show. It resulted in Rhodes again getting beat down by Lesnar ahead of their match at SummerSlam. Rhodes had also been laid out by Lesnar when they last appeared together two weeks ago.
Lesnar called out Rhodes last night and wanted Rhodes to shake his hand. After a tense staredown, the two shook hands and exchanged words. Lesnar then bumped into Rhodes as he was leaving the ring. Rhodes responded by hitting a dive on Lesnar and starting a brawl. Though Rhodes initially had the advantage, Lesnar drove Rhodes into the ring post and attacked him with the ring steps.
Lesnar continued the attack, hitting Rhodes with the steps three times before dropping him with an F5.
Later in the night, Rhodes vowed that he’ll still be competing at SummerSlam. Rhodes promised to end the aura of Brock Lesnar this Saturday.
Brock Lesnar will return to WWE on the July 31 Raw episode.
After a hiatus of just one episode, Lesnar’s return was one of two segments announced for next week during Monday’s Raw show.
Lesnar last appeared on the July 17 Raw, attacking Cody Rhodes and leaving him laying in front of family members at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Rhodes and Lesnar are scheduled to square off in the third match of their trilogy at SummerSlam at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, August 5.
Also announced as returning on next week’s Raw is Logan Paul.
Paul appeared on this week’s episode as well, getting involved with his presumed SummerSlam opponent Ricochet in an in-ring altercation. Ricochet challenged Paul to face him at the August 5 show, and Paul accepted after a sneak attack. Ricochet recovered, then left Paul laying.
The announced lineup for the Monday, July 31 Raw show:
Cody Rhodes will respond to Brock Lesnar next week on Raw.
WWE.com announced on Friday afternoon that Rhodes will respond to Lesnar. On this week’s Raw, Rhodes called out Lesnar and when he didn’t respond, Rhodes went to get him. Lesnar jumped him at the gorilla position and proceeded to get the better of Rhodes, attacking him in front of his mother. The segment ended with Rhodes being put in the kimura yet again.
Seth Rollins and Finn Balor will have a contract signing to make their match at SummerSlam official. On this week’s Raw, the two had a face-to-face confrontation, with Balor demanding Rollins to give him a rematch. Rollins wasn’t interested. Balor got up and started to leave, but attacked Rollins once he let his guard down.
Tommaso Ciampa will also meet Bronson Reed. It was Reed who attacked Ciampa two weeks ago on Raw, allowing The Miz to pin Ciampa. Ciampa responded by attacking Reed during a match against Shinsuke Nakamura causing a disqualification. Nakamura wasn’t happy and attacked Ciampa as a result.
Here is the updated card for next week’s WWE Raw:
Logan Paul returns
Cody Rhodes to respond to Brock Lesnar
Seth Rollins/Finn Balor contract signing
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Bronson Reed
Gunther, Drew McIntyre face-to-face
Becky Lynch vs. Zoey Stark- Lynch gets a rematch against Trish Stratus if she wins
With his family watching on from the front row, Cody Rhodes was demolished by Brock Lesnar on Raw last night.
The episode took place in Rhodes’ hometown of Atlanta. Rhodes opened the show and wanted a response to his SummerSlam challenge. Rhodes called Lesnar out to the ring, but Lesnar refused to make his way out. Rhodes assured Lesnar that he’d be waiting for him all night if that’s what it took.
Rhodes then directed the audience’s attention to his mother in the crowd. Rhodes called his mother “the woman that built me,” crediting her for being the person who made him a fighter and taught him to always get back up.
While Rhodes was hugging his mother and other members of his family, Lesnar’s music hit. Rhodes was ready for a fight, but Lesnar didn’t come out. The music hit again, but Lesnar still wasn’t there.
Lesnar then attacked Rhodes with a steel chair as he entered the backstage area. Back at ringside, Lesnar laid out Rhodes with an F5 in front of his family. Lesnar put Rhodes in a kimura twice before finally accepting his SummerSlam challenge.
SummerSlam is taking place in Detroit on Saturday, August 5. The card for the pay-per-view began to take shape last night with Rhodes vs. Lesnar and Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor being made official. Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler was also set up for SummerSlam.
WWE has officially announced two matches for SummerSlam set for Saturday, August 5.
As revealed during Monday’s Raw show, Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes III is set for SummerSlam at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. After a show-opening promo from Rhodes on Raw, Lesnar attacked Rhodes and left him laying in front of his family, focusing his attack on the left arm of Rhodes that Lesnar broke in storyline earlier this year.
The World Heavyweight Championship will also be on the line at SummerSlam, as Seth Rollins will once again defend his title against Finn Balor. Rollins defeated Balor in their title match at Money in the Bank earlier this month, but they set up a rematch in a backstage promo segment during this week’s Raw.
Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso for the Undisputed Universal Championship, Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler, Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch, and Ricochet vs. Logan Paul have also been heavily teased for SummerSlam, but only Lesnar vs. Rhodes and Rollins vs. Balor have been officially announced to this point.
The current official lineup for SummerSlam:
WWE SummerSlam, Saturday, August 5, 8 p.m. Eastern time on Peacock & WWE Network —
Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes
World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins defends against Finn Balor
Date: July 17, 2023 Location: State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA

Show Recap —
The announcers ran down tonight’s card. Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick spat out nicknames for every wrestler as they did. The Hellions from Hades Judgment Day, the cantankerous Kevin Owens, the spirited Sami Zayn, the menacing Gunther, the cheeky Chelsea Green, the self-aggrandizing Sonya Deville, the strong-willed Raquel Rodriguez, and the bubbly Liv Morgan.
I know they often do this sort of thing, but it felt like a new edict was handed down and it sounded completely unnatural.
Cody Rhodes / Brock Lesnar segment
Cody Rhodes entered to a big reaction and “welcome home” chants. Rhodes said we don’t need to talk — Brock Lesnar can enter right now and accept his SummerSlam challenge. Lesnar didn’t enter and Rhodes wasn’t surprised. Rhodes said Lesnar could come at 9pm or 10pm or at the end of the night but no matter what, Rhodes would still be in the ring waiting for him.
Rhodes became emotional upon mentioning that his mother Michelle was in the front row. Rhodes said that his catchphrase wasn’t something like “Let’s get funky like a monkey” for a reason. Rhodes mentioned training with the Nightmare Family and said the person who made him a fighter was a fighter herself. He encouraged the fans to applaud Michelle.
Rhodes said his relationship with Lesnar was complicated and only two words could describe it right: “Hard times.” Rhodes said tonight would not be hard times in front of his people, it would be hard times for Lesnar. The crowd cheered.
Rhodes hugged his family in the front row when Lesnar’s music hit. Rhodes awaited Lesnar but he still didn’t show. As Rhodes got closer to the stage, Lesnar’s music hit again but he still didn’t appear.
Rhodes marched to the back and you could hear the sound of a steel chair. Lesnar chucked Rhodes back down the ramp and hit him repeatedly with the chair.
Lesnar hoisted Rhodes on his shoulders and gave him an F5 in front of his mother. Lesnar also put him in a Kimura as Michelle yelled at Lesnar. Lesnar put him in the Kimura one more time in the ring (but didn’t hold on long enough to break the arm again).
Lesnar said, “Challenge accepted. I’ll see you at SummerSlam, bitch.” The crowd booed as Lesnar left.
********
Lesnar hit Rhodes with a chair one more time during the commercial break.
Non-title match: Intercontinental Champion Gunther defeated Matt Riddle (8:12)
Riddle leaped off the ring steps but Gunther chopped him out of mid-air and hit a body slam. Riddle fought back after a break and they exchanged strikes until Riddle hit an exploder suplex.
Gunther responded with chops and Riddle came back with kicks to the chest. Gunther chopped him again, hit a German suplex and clothesline for a nearfall. Riddle back with kicks and hit a sliding knee to the back of the head for two.
Riddle went for a floating bro but Gunther got his knees up. Gunther followed with a dropkick and powerbomb for the pinfall win. Fun stuff for the time they had.
— Gunther stood on the announce table as the crowd booed. He said they can boo all they want but this was the best night of their lives because they came here to see the greatest IC champion of all time. Gunther said Riddle was done and he was building a legacy. Drew McIntyre could ride his coattails too but he will fall like everyone else to the ring general.
********
Jackie Redmond interviewed Rodriguez and Morgan. Morgan knew that Green and Deville didn’t follow the rules but they’d be ready. Morgan said they wouldn’t back down from anyone.
Rhea Ripley appeared and got in Rodriguez’s face. (The crowd popped for her appearance.) Rodriguez said they wouldn’t back down to her, either. Morgan tried to chim in so Ripley headbutted her.
Rodriguez attacked Ripley and they brawled as officials tried to separate them. The brawl ended when Ripley kicked Raquel’s leg out of her leg. Morgan and officials checked on Rodriguez.
— Judgment Day, with Ripley, entered for the next segment. Patrick said the mood in Atlanta has taken a sinister turn with the appearance of this villainous quartet.
********
Judgment Day segment
Ripley said Judgment Day were stronger than ever and they don’t just run Raw, they dominate it. Ripley called herself unbeatable as champion and said Finn Bálor and Damian Priest would soon become world champions. Ripley said Dominik Mysterio would become NXT North American Champion tomorrow.
The crowd loudly booed as Dom said he would beat Wes Lee on NXT. Priest tried to talk for him so the crowd booed over his promo too. Priest held up his briefcase and said he would become world champion. Bálor gave him a look but Priest told him to take it easy because Bálor still had the first shot. Bálor told Priest, “I love you, bro.”
Bálor said his issues with Seth Rollins would never be over until he beat him for the title. Dom tried to put over Bálor but the crowd booed again.
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens interrupted. Zayn asked the Atlanta crowd if they paid their hard-earned money to hear Dom talk. They booed. He asked if they paid money to see someone shut Dom’s mouth. They cheered. Zayn said they would take on Dom and Priest tonight and shut Dom’s mouth for good.
Priest said they’ve been focused on individual titles but told Dom the tag titles would look great on them. Priest told them to put the titles on the line. Zayn considered it as the crowd chanted Yes.
Owens appeared annoyed so Zayn let him speak. The crowd chanted for Owens. Owens fired up and said he wanted to stun Priest and put his fist through Dom’s stupid face. Owens accepted.
(Priest held up his briefcase and Owens yelled, off the mic, that no one cared about the briefcase because it didn’t matter right now.)
********
A trainer told Adam Pearce that Rodriguez was technically cleared but he wanted to get scans. Rodriguez said no because the last time this happened, they had to give up the belts. Pearce was concerned and understood the trainer’s recommendation but made the title match official.
********
Both teams entered before a break and they went to another break after they entered the ring.
[SECOND HOUR]
Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green defeated Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan to win the Women’s Tag Team Championships (5:13)
Deville applied a half crab on Rodriguez’s injured knee and held the hold a long time before Morgan finally broke it up. Morgan tagged in and hit Green with a Codebreaker and Oblivion but Deville just barely broke up the cover with a knee strike.
Deville chop-blocked Rodriguez outside the ring before giving Morgan a cheap shot with the referee’s back turned. Green hit an Unprettier (if you can call it that) for a close nearfall.
Morgan tried fighting off both women on her own but the Green hit another Unprettier and Deville followed with a running knee strike for the pinfall win. Deville and Green are the new champs.
Fireworks went off as Deville and Green posed with the belts.
Morgan sat with Rodriguez as someone checked on her leg.
********
Byron Saxton congratulated the new champs but added that it was almost a two-on-one match. Deville dismissed Rodriguez’s fake injury while Green tried to thank everyone she could think of including her fans, her parents, her sister, and Janine from the tanning salon.
There was a video package of Jey Uso’s segment from Smackdown. Roman Reigns will be on this week’s Smackdown and they’re pushing hard that it’s on FS1.
********
Seth Rollins sit-down interview
Saxton wanted to know Seth Rollins’ plans for the world title after hearing from Bálor. Rollins said the World Heavyweight Championship deserved a marquee match at SummerSlam and mentioned Bálor, Priest, McIntyre, Gunther and Owens as potential challengers.
Bálor interrupted before Rollins could name more challengers. Rollins told Saxton he could leave and Bálor sat in his chair. Bálor said the line started with him and their issues weren’t over. Bálor told Rollins to talk to Pearce and make the match.
Rollins told Bálor to stop living in the past. Bálor said he wasn’t living in the past, he was living in the chaos, and he would do to Rollins what Rollins did to him. Bálor would take his title, laugh in his face, and alter his career forever.
Rollins told Bálor that the world title was about more than Bálor’s personal vendetta. It was bigger than both of them. Rollins said they didn’t need a match to settle the score and they could finish things right now. Rollins told Bálor to take a shot or get out of his face.
Bálor said, “Cool,” and left. Rollins took off his mic and got ready to leave but Bálor chucked a chair in his face and put the boots to him. Bálor told Rollins to make the match.
********
The Viking Rules match is next. Patrick said, “Coming up next, a match with no rules — Viking Rules,” and Graves responded, “And when you say, ‘Viking Rules’, let’s be honest, there are no rules!”
Titus O’Neil joined commentary for the match. Graves said O’Neil could provide input because he knows all about the Viking Raiders and Viking Rules. O’Neil informed him that he only ever had regular matches against them.
The front section of a Viking boat was connected to the ring and there were shields attached to the ring ropes. Otis yelled, “Get the tables” at Gable but he was stopped by Erik. Ivar tried a springboard crossbody but Otis caught him and hit a powerslam, which was awesome.
They came back from break and Graves let us know for the 80th time that this was a Viking Rules match which meant there were no rules.
Ivar hit Otis with a moonsault but Gable broke up the cover with a moonsault of his own. Gable followed with a damn impressive German suplex on Ivar but Erik broke up the cover. The crowd was really into all of this.
Erik and Gable exchanged strikes until Gable hit an exploder suplex and a diving headbutt but Valhalla broke up the cover. Maxxine took her out with a flying crossbody.
Gable put the letterman jacket on Dupri and she yelled, “Thank you!” but Valhalla speared her through a corner table. The Raiders drove Gable into some shields.
Otis ran over both Raiders, slammed Ivar and gave Erik a fallaway slam. Otis hit Ivar with a Caterpillar but Valhalla slapped him as he climbed the ropes. The Raiders brought down Otis with a double powerbomb off the middle rope for the pinfall win.
This was a fun match that went as well as it could have and the crowd was into it. Alpha Academy winning probably would’ve gotten a really big pop.
********
Shayna Baszler vs. Nikki Cross (0:20)
Baszler won immediately by submission with Kirifuda Clutch.
— Ronda Rousey proclaimed, “And the crowd goes mild!” after the match. Rousey stood in the upper deck and cut a promo.
Rousey said she could have taken the long way through the door in WWE — or go through the backdoor by earning a historic Olympic medal in judo and having an earth-shattering UFC career. She got thrown into the wolves by being put into a WWE ring with no training and developed a Hall of Fame career in just a year.
She did everything in a fraction of the time that it took Baszler and she still eclipsed her in everything. Rousey called herself the greatest combat sports athlete of all time and the crowd booed. Rousey said Baszler was just a knock-off version of her.
Baszler said she was a better Ronda Rousey in the ring than the real Ronda Rousey. Baszler challenged her to a fight right now. Rousey said no and put her legs up.
Baszler went into the crowd and was going to go after her but Rousey got up and said she would do Baszler a favour and finally get her booked on SummerSlam. Rousey said, “I’ll see you in Motor City, bitch,” and she left.
********
Redmond interviewed Ricochet. Ricochet said Logan Paul thinks he’s a joke but he lives in his own world of social media. In this world of WWE, Logan was a joke. Ricochet said Paul wanted a fight but when they got into it last week, Paul was the one who was laid out. Ricochet challenged him to show up on Raw next week in Tampa where he could hurt him where it hurts — his ego.
[THIRD HOUR]
Miz TV with Becky Lynch
Miz gloated about his win over Tommaso Ciampa and proclaimed that he was back. He spoke about competing in a celebrity golf tournament alongside Charles Barkley, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Miles Teller, and the most overpaid person in sports, Pat McAfee. He said the only person more overpaid was Trey Young (Atlanta Hawks).
Miz introduced Becky Lynch and asked her what it was like to sit next to a winner. Miz noted her recent losses to Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark and at Money in the Bank. Miz wondered if she had lost a step.
Lynch stood up and chucked both chairs out of the ring. She got in Miz’s face and said she may have lost titles and friends and maybe her mind but she has not lost a step. Lynch knew how his stupid little show worked and knew she wasn’t the only guest so she told Miz to get Stratus out here before she took his tiny balls.
Stratus and Stark entered but Lynch spoke over her music and repeatedly demanded a rematch. Stratus called Lynch a child and wondered if it was Roux in the ring. Lynch told Stratus to keep her daughter’s name out of her mouth. Stratus said she already beat her and declined a rematch. Stratus noted that Lynch lost to her and lost at MITB and lost to Stark, so they were done with her.
Stratus said Miz TV was the perfect platform for Lynch to finally say, “Thank you, Trish.” Lynch said Stratus wanted to return to WWE so Lynch brought her back. Lynch told her the issues she was having and Stratus attacked her when she was at her lowest because she knew she couldn’t take her at her strongest.
Lynch challenged her with a rematch without Stark by her side. Lynch mocked her and wondered if she was all about hair flips and her Instagram.
Stratus accepted a rematch under a few conditions. First, Lynch would have to beat Stark. Lynch said, “Done.” Stratus said when Stark beat her, Lynch would have to get on her knees and say, “Thank you, Trish.” Lynch accepted. Stratus also wanted Lynch to tattoo the phrase across her chest.
They abruptly attacked Lynch but she fought them off and ripped off Stratus’ face mask. Lynch hit her in the nose, put on the face mask herself, and headbutted Stark.
********
Bronson Reed defeated Shinsuke Nakamura via disqualification (7:32)
Reed took control but Nakamura fought back after a break. Reed responded with a Death Valley Driver for two. The crowd chanted for Nakamura who hit strikes and a knee strike off the ropes for two. Nakamura set up for Kinshasa but Reed flattened him with a crossbody.
Ciampa suddenly hit the ring and attacked Reed for the DQ. (Reed cost Ciampa his match against Miz.)
— Ciampa seemed apologetic to Nakamura but Nakamura dropped him with a kick to the chin. The crowd actually cheered because he was understandably upset.
********
Saxton interviewed Nakamura who said, “I’m tired of everybody getting involved in my business.” Saxton asked about him attacking Ciampa. Nakamura rolled his eyes, stood up, and yelled, “Byron! I said I’m tired of everybody getting involved in my business!” Nakamura left.

(There was a wide shot during the main event showing the sold-out crowd of about 13,500 — according to Kevin Patrick.)
After they introduced both teams for the main event, Rollins appeared out of nowhere and took out Bálor with a suicide dive. Rollins hammered away and Bálor ran to the back.
Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn defeated Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio (w/Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley) to retain the Tag Team Championships (15:30)
Owens and Zayn had their way with Dom until Zayn got distracted by Ripley. Dom hit Zayn with a baseball slide and Priest chokeslammed him onto the apron.
The crowd cheered on Zayn after a break and he eventually made a (very) hot tag to Owens who knocked Dom and Priest out of the ring. Owens clotheslined both men outside the ring and gave Priest a senton. Owens also hit Dom with a frog splash off the apron.
Owens hit Priest with a cannonball but Priest got his knees up on a senton bomb attempt. Dom followed with a frog splash but Zayn broke up the cover. Zayn dumped Priest from the ring before Dom dumped Zayn.
The crowd chanted “Dom you suck” moments before Owens hit him with a pop-up powerbomb but Priest broke up the cover. Zayn tagged in and hit Priest with a tornado DDT for a nearfall. Zayn went to the top as the crowd chanted “Olé” but Priest cut him off and hit a Frankensteiner for two.
Dom made a blind tag and dropkicked Zayn into the middle rope. Zayn avoided a 619 and chucked Dom from the ring. Owens wiped out Priest with a dive off the apron and Zayn wiped out Dom with a flip dive.
Ripley drove Owens into the steel steps and Zayn pointed it out to the referee. Priest attacked Zayn with the ref’s back turned and Dom put him in a schoolboy for a nearfall.
Ripley yelled at the referee when Liv Morgan ran out and drove her into the timekeeper’s area.
Owens dropped Priest with a stunner and Zayn hit Dom with Helluva Kick for the pinfall win.
