WWE Raw live results: Clash of Champions fallout

Date: September 28, 2020
Location: Amway Center in Orlando, FL

The Big Takeaway —

Randy Orton “attacked” Ric Flair, Christian, Big Show, and Shawn Michaels with a steel chair in a dark room at the end of the show.

Drew McIntyre retained the WWE title in an open challenge against a returning Robert Roode.

There was no Raw Underground and it was never explained why not.

Retribution were not on Raw and that wasn’t explained either. There was a brief tease that they would show up but they didn’t. Cedric Alexander was not with Hurt Business, either.

Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler also weren’t on the show. It was explained that they will eventually defend the tag titles against Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan.

Show Recap —

Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton and Samoa Joe are tonight’s announcers. They ran down what happened in last night’s WWE title match.

Ric Flair, Big Show, Christian, and Shawn Michaels came out individually. Michaels welcomed us to Raw and introduced Drew McIntyre. McIntyre hugged each guy and mentioned how cool it was to share the ring with them.

McIntyre wasn’t expecting to see them last night. He mentioned growing up in the business traveling with the likes of Christian and Big Show, who always looked out for him. Michaels also looked out for him and gave him advice. He recalled getting to WWE when Flair was still an active wrestler and couldn’t believe he got to share a locker room with him.

They all shared the same disdain for “Randall Keith Orton.” He put Orton in an ambulance and was still WWE Champion. Michaels said they all wanted to thank him for whipping Orton’s ass. Michaels said they all got together and came up with a plan to get involved. Michaels joked that it was all Flair’s idea if McIntyre was upset about them interfering.

Orton appeared on the screen. He said it wasn’t over until he said it was. If McIntyre thought he went through hell last night, he didn’t know what hell felt like. McIntyre knew Orton was about to ask for another shot. Orton said he didn’t need to ask for one — he would be given one because of who he is.

Orton just wanted to warn everyone that there was a price to pay when you cross him. Orton left the arena with his luggage.

McIntyre wasn’t feeling great after last night but wanted to be a fighting champion and issued an open challenge to anyone he has yet to face so far for the title. He implored someone in the back to step up.

Kayla Braxton interviewed Zelina Vega and called her a poor sport. Vega wanted to prove herself tonight and said Asuka was not ready for her. Asuka showed up and was amused by this. Asuka told her to get ready to lose again. Officials got between them before they could start fighting.

Asuka defeated Zelina Vega to retain the Raw Women’s Championship (8:44)

They went to break less than 2 minutes into the match even though they came right back with this match (including Asuka’s entrance) after the previous break. Asuka caught Vega with a kick as she came off the apron before the break but Vega was in control after the break.

Asuka mounted a comeback using strikes, a German suplex and sliding kick for two. Vega tried targeting the arm with a submission but Asuka countered into a vertical suplex and followed with kicks. Vega avoided an Asuka Lock by getting a quick rope break and followed with a back cracker but Asuka got a rope break.

Vega went for a moonsault but Asuka got her knees up and applied the Asuka Lock for the submission win. (Asuka held onto the hold for a few seconds after the ref called for the bell.) This wasn’t much of a match.

Flair, Show, Christian, and Michaels were shown playing poker in the back.

After a break, Andrade was in the ring as Vega was on the ramp. Andrade said Vega was nothing without her. Vega appeared to be upset and left. Andrade said Vega and Angel Garza were weak links. He called himself the greatest in WWE and issued an open challenge. Keith Lee entered.

Keith Lee defeated Andrade (2:51)

Lee won fairly quickly. Andrade was in control for a bit after targeting Lee’s lower body. Andrade hit running double knees in the corner but Lee grabbed him and hit the spirit bomb for the pinfall win.

MVP and Shelton Benjamin were eating in the back. Some guy joined them without asking or even saying anything. Bobby Lashley showed up and told the guy to get out of his seat and also leave his food behind. The guy panicked and left. Lashley was serious until the guy left, then cracked a smile and offered the extra plate to MVP and Benjamin. They all laughed. This was a good little gag.

They replayed parts of the R-Truth/Tozawa shark segment. Truth was shown in the back playing chess by himself. A ninja appeared and handed him a letter which was written in both Japanese and English. The letter was from Tozawa who left him a gift (in a briefcase) in the event of his death. It was a black belt.

Truth appeared honoured but was rolled up from behind by Tozawa who won the 24/7 title. The ninja hit Tozawa with the briefcase and pinned him to win the belt. It was Drew Gulak. Truth hit Gulak with the briefcase and won the title back. They all ran off. A threeway for the title was announced for tonight. This was not a good gag.

Seth Rollins approached Murphy and gave him a hug even though Murphy didn’t seem happy to see him. Rollins said it was a great night but wondered why Murphy was dressed to compete even though he doesn’t have a match. Rollins encouraged him to put on the suit he bought him. Murphy nodded and left. Murphy left his cell phone behind so Rollins put it in his pocket.

[Second hour]

King’s Court with Jerry Lawler

Lawler introduced the Mysterio family. Rey told Lawler that Rollins couldn’t keep his own house together so he was going after his. He called Rollins evil. Dominik said he was tired of Rollins and would put an end to this the next time he saw him.

Lawler noted that Rollins could be lying about the paternity test since we didn’t actually see any papers but we did see Aalyah’s reaction when Rey called her naive. Aalyah admitted to being upset but also acknowledged how young she was. She didn’t know what to think about Murphy but does question those who associated themselves with Rollins.

Rollins appeared on the screen with something important to say: Aalyah wasn’t being honest about her feelings for Murphy. Rollins showed a “screenshot” of a text exchange between Aalyah and Murphy. The exchange showed Murphy apologizing to her again and Aalyah responding politely and wishing him a happy birthday.

Rey was upset. Aalyah said Murphy wasn’t like Rollins and stormed to the back. Rey and Angie went after her.

Murphy confronted Rollins and grabbed him by the shirt (as Rollins chuckled). Dominik flew in and attacked Murphy. Officials ran in to break them up.

Dominik vs. Murphy was announced after a break.

Natalya and Lana entered. Lana wore black and pink gear. Natalya thought Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler should be stripped of the tag titles and thought the belts should be given to them. Lana said it was because of them that those titles even existed. She also thought they deserved it because they were celebrities.

Adam Pearce interrupted and informed them that he wasn’t going to strip Baszler and Jax. He said they could earn a shot to the fight for the belts if they could win their match tonight against Raw’s newest acquisitions: Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke. (Rose also happened to be wearing pink and black.)

Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke defeated Natalya & Lana (3:07)

The heels worked over Brooke briefly until Rose made a hot tag. There was an ugly spot where she gave Lana a gutwrench slam and Lana almost landed on her head. Rose followed with a V-Trigger for the pinfall win. This was quite bad.

Aleister Black cut a promo in a dark room on Kevin Owens. He noted Owens’ history of betraying people. Owens liked to speak about family but family made Black think about cruelty because his father was a cruel man. He said people might forgive and forget Owens for the things that he’s done — but he will not forget.

The Street Profits approached Christian, Show, Flair and Michaels to cheers them with drinks. They were still playing poker.

Kevin Owens defeated Aleister Black via DQ (13:19)

Black has new music. The announcers explained Black’s earlier promo. Black was upset that Owens wasn’t there to help him when Murphy attacked his eye.

Black was in control until Owens came back with chops, clotheslines, a senton, and German suplex. Black rolled out of the ring so Owens hit him with a senton off the apron, which led to break.

Owens used a DDT for two but Black followed by kicking his leg out of his leg to take over. Black cut off a couple of comeback attempts with strikes. Owens dodged a pump kick and hit a superkick for two. Owens tried a senton off the top but Black got his knees up. Black followed with a knee strike for a nearfall.

Black argued with the referee before turning his attention back to Owens. Black was in the middle of a strike combo on Owens and hit the referee by accident. The ref called for a DQ. Black was rightfully upset and noted the ref was standing too close. As they made the DQ announcement, Owens gave Black a stunner.

Saxton tried to claim the ref made the only call he could, which is stupid. Joe also said the ref was standing too close.

Black and Owens work well together but they’re making it harder to care about more matches between the two.

The Hurt Business walked through the back when they ran into Mustafa Ali who emerged from their personal locker room. He apologized and claimed he got lost. MVP said he must’ve lost his mind and shoved him. Ali was about to go after them but was held back by Apollo Crews and Ricochet who happened to be nearby. Ricochet said this wasn’t over between them.

Triple Threat Match: R-Truth defeated Drew Gulak and Akira Tozawa to retain the 24/7 Championship (4:12)

Truth pinned Gulak after giving him an Attitude Adjustment onto Tozawa.

Charly Caruso interviewed Rose and Brooke. Rose said it was no-brainer having Brooke as a partner because she was a great athlete who was always there for her. Brooke said Rose was an inspiration for always getting up after getting knocked down. Rose knew that Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan were next in line, but regardless of who won, they were coming for the titles.

All three women looked off to the side in apparent confusion. It was just Dominik getting ready for his match.

[Third hour]

WWE congratulated themselves on having a lot of Instagram followers.

Murphy defeated Dominik Mysterio (7:17)

They went back-and-forth until Dominik clocked Murphy with a forearm. Murphy came right back with a running knee strike. Dominik followed later with a tornado DDT. Dominik aggressively stomped away at him in the corner until the ref stopped him.

Dominik grabbed a kendo stick but Aalyah marched out and asked him to put it away. Dominik told her to leave. He went into the ring but was distracted as Aalyah pleaded with him to stop. Murphy rolled him up holding the tights for the pinfall win (he seemed to let go a little too early but the ref still counted three).

Dominik hit Murphy a few times with the kendo stick but he was able to run off. Aalyah begged him to stop. Dominik yelled at her, saying he was doing this to protect their legacy and reminded her what Murphy has done to them. Dominik called her naive. She slapped him and marched away.

Dolph Ziggler told Adam Pearce that he had the perfect guy for McIntyre’s open challenge. Pearce told him that he wasn’t eligible because he has faced McIntyre before. Ziggler said it wasn’t him. Pearce agreed to discuss it in his office.

Hurt Business cut a promo on Crews. MVP said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting a different result (untrue). Crews kept stepping to Lashley and losing. MVP and Lashley said Crews and his buddies were going to get dropped again tonight.

6-man tag match: Apollo Crews, Ricochet & Mustafa Ali defeated US Champion Bobby Lashley, MVP & Shelton Benjamin

Should be noted that Cedric Alexander was not with Hurt Business.

The babyfaces attacked Hurt Business before the match could start but Hurt Business beat them up anyway. The lights went out and “Retribution” appeared on the screens. Hurt Business slid back in the ring and got ready for a fight. The match was underway after a break and Retribution was nowhere to be found.

Ali won via pinfall after giving MVP a 450 splash.

Flair, Show, Christian and Michaels were still playing poker after almost two hours. Flair won one final hand to win all the chips.

I forgot to mention it but there was an earlier segment where MVP chucked his water bottle on the floor for a building cleaner to pick it up.

There was a new Bianca Belair video package. She beat two men and one woman in a race (on a track). She beat all three easily, so one guy quit. She beat the other two a second time even after giving them a head start. She also won a hurdle race.

They aired a Retribution video package.

Drew McIntyre defeated Robert Roode to retain the WWE Championship (12:35)

Ziggler introduced McIntyre’s opponent: Robert Roode. Roode has a full beard and entered to his “Glorious” theme and entrance.

McIntyre gave Roode a reverse Alabama Slam onto the ring apron. A cool-looking spot that sent us to break less than two minutes into the match.

Back from break, Ziggler helped Roode get out of harm’s way, so McIntyre yanked him into the ring. The Tampa Bay Lightning just won the Stanley Cup.

Roode chop-blocked McIntyre to take over. Roode followed by driving McIntyre’s leg into the ring post. Roode also dropped him leg-first onto the announce table. Roode applied a figure four for McIntyre rolled over to break the hold.

McIntyre came back with a clothesline and overhead belly-to-belly suplexes but came up limping on a kip-up, so Roode hit a spinebuster for two. McIntyre managed to come back with a Future Shock DDT for a nearfall.

McIntyre booted Ziggler off the apron and the distraction allowed Roode to hit a Glorious DDT for a nearfall. McIntyre blocked another DDT attempt and hit a Claymore kick for the pinfall win. McIntyre retains. Pretty good match.

Before the show ended, they cut to the back to a shot of the building cleaner that was seen earlier. He grabbed a steel chair and unmasked. It was Randy Orton.

Orton put on night vision goggles and entered the room where Flair, Christian, Show and Michaels were hanging out. He turned off the lights and we could hear him apparently attacking everyone (except the cameraperson I guess). Orton turned the light back on to reveal the damage done. The legends were all down. As was the food.

Orton left the room and put his mask and hood back on. A bunch of officials ran down the hall and into the legends’ room. Orton had his back turned which was enough to fool them. (They knew something happened but didn’t suspect it was the guy standing right there?)

This was very hokey.

WWE Raw live results: Clash of Champions go-home show

Date: September 21, 2020
Location: Amway Center in Orlando, FL

The Big Takeaway —

Retribution finally had a match. It ended in a DQ.

Show Recap —

Retribution invaded Raw as soon as it started. There were five members all wearing new (ugly) masks. Tom Phillips frantically mentioned that the five core members have been given contracts which means they can do whatever they want to whoever they want.

Mia Yim spoke first (her mask barely covered her mouth/jaw so it was clearly her). She said the contracts weren’t going to stop them. Another member, likely Dominik Dijakovic, called the WWE wrestlers whores for collecting their paychecks.

They were interrupted by the Hurt Business who marched to the ring while Retribution escaped to ringside. MVP and Bobby Lashley threatened them. Suddenly, way more masked men appeared and attacked. Two members, likely Dijakovic and Dio Maddin, gave Lashley a double chokeslam as they went to break.

After a break, everyone was gone.

Phillips, Byron Saxton and Jerry Lawler are on commentary. Lawler couldn’t believe that Retribution were given contracts.

Sarah Schrieber asked Rey Mysterio about Dominik getting his first chance at a title shot. Rey said he made his mark in WWE as a tag team and it was an honour that Dominik could follow in his footsteps.

A couple of other notes about the opening segment: Mercedes Martinez was one of the other Retribution members. Also, the cameras were shaking violently even when they were just standing in the ring doing a promo.

Triple Threat Tag Team Match: Andrade & Angel Garza defeated Seth Rollins & Murphy and Dominik Mysterio & Humberto Carrillo (5:24)

The Street Profits joined commentary. Zelina Vega was not with Andrade and Garza.

(Carrillo was last on Raw on August 10 when he lost to Rollins in three minutes. Two weeks before that, he lost to Murphy. More recently, he has consecutive losses to Mustafa Ali and Riddick Moss on Main Event.)

Dominik and Carrillo each hit dives early in the match and Rollins appeared to be impressed, as were the Street Profits. The Profits said they would love to face Dominik and Carrillo. Dominik gave Andrade a Code Red but Garza broke up the cover.

Murphy nailed Andrade with a knee strike but as he crawled to make a cover, Rollins left. Rollins said he had better things to do.

Andrade gave Murphy a back elbow and Garza followed with a Wing Clipper for the pinfall win. Andrade and Garza face the Street Profits. Again. (Dominik and Carrillo were knocked out of the ring earlier and just never covered.)

Between July 20 and September 7, some combination of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins fought some combination of Andrade and Angel Garza in 8 out of 9 shows.

Retribution cut a promo backstage. Dijakovic did the talking. He said Hurt Business could have been part of the solution but were instead part of the problem because they bowed to WWE and took their money. Retribution said they would make Hurt Business pay… with retribution. (They teased that there would be a match tonight.)

The KO Show

Kevin Owens said it was time to move on from Captain Hot Topic (Aleister Black). He couldn’t believe it, but his guest tonight was Shane McMahon. Shane came out and they played “Shane O’Mac” chants.

Owens and Shane acknowledged their past. Owens was going to leave it in the past because tonight he had Shane on to plug Raw Underground. Shane talked about Dabba-Kato, who beat up Owens two weeks ago. Shane invited Dabba-Kato to the ring.

Owens knew this was going to happen which is why he willingly had Shane on as a guest. Owens didn’t forget about what Dabba-Kato did to him. Owens said he and Dabba-Kato would fight one day. Owens slapped him in the face before introducing his other guest — Braun Strowman.

Strowman entered and faced off with Dabba-Kato but Shane got in between them. Shane said if they wanted to fight, it wouldn’t be on the KO Show, it would be on Underground.

As Shane spoke, Aleister Black showed up, yanked Owens down and pulled him crotch-first into the ring post three times. (Black wore a covering over his eye even though it appeared to be fine last week.)

Charly Caruso asked Drew McIntyre about Keith Lee. McIntyre understood it was all business and everyone wanted to be WWE champion or else they wouldn’t be there. He said they would laugh about it over drinks one day, and those drinks would be on him after he beats Lee tonight.

Retribution beat up Titus O’Neil and Humberto Carrillo backstage.

Retribution vs. Hurt Business was made official for tonight.

Keith Lee defeated WWE Champion Drew McIntyre via DQ in a non-title match (11:44)

Lee drove McIntyre over the top rope using a running body block. McIntyre followed soon later with a backdrop onto the announce table (which didn’t break) and they went to break.

[Second hour]

McIntyre briefly stopped Lee’s comeback but Lee clocked him with a forearm to the injured jaw. Lee hesitated before making the cover for two. McIntyre came back with a spinebuster for two, followed by a neckbreaker for two. Lee blocked a DDT and used a slam for two, then hit a clothesline for two.

Lee set up for a spirit bomb but McIntyre slipped out and hit a Claymore kick. Randy Orton attacked McIntyre from behind with a steel chair for the DQ. (Yet another match Lee was about to lose.)

Orton drove the edge of the chair into McIntyre’s jaw before punting Lee in the head. Loud booing played as Orton stood tall.

Orton remained in the ring after a break. The crowd booing was still playing. Orton shamed the fans for doubting that he would make it to Clash of Champions. He was the one constant in WWE in the past 20 years. He has never walked away from a title shot and wasn’t about to.

He acknowledged that Sunday’s title match wasn’t a normal one and walked over to the ambulance that was parked by the stage (as a prop). As he was being carried away in the ambulance a few weeks ago, Orton realized what everyone must have felt like after being taken out by him.

He said ambulances meant different things to different people but to him, it represented a 14th world title. He said McIntyre’s title reign would flatline thanks to an RKO.

Schreiber asked Asuka who was the biggest threat between Mickie James and Zelina Vega. Billie Kay interrupted and mocked her for willingly defending the title against just about anyone. She wondered if even Schreiber would get a shot.

Peyton Royce showed up and said she should get a shot. Asuka wondered if they were still friends. Kay and Royce said they still had each others’ backs. Asuka said no one would be ready for her at COC and Royce was not ready for her tonight.

Zelina Vega defeated Mickie James (4:12)

There was a pre-taped James promo where she said she did not give up last week and would not give up going after the Women’s title.

Vega applied an octopus hold but James got out of it by ramming her into the corner. James blocked a kick and they exchanged rollups. James hit a series of kicks and a flapjack followed by a Thesz press off the top for a nearfall.

Vega blocked a DDT, yanked James into the ropes and hit a back cracker for the pinfall win. Vega wins clean and faces Asuka for the title at COC.

The Hurt Business beat up the secondary members of Retribution backstage. MVP asked Lashley and Shelton Benjamin if they had things handled (because Cedric Alexander has a match next). Benjamin said yes.

There was a Bianca Belair video. It was just her outworking some guy in the gym.

There was a dumb segment with R-Truth running from a shark at the beach where maybe Akira Tozawa was eaten by the shark.

MVP and Alexander were in the ring. MVP said Retribution would be facing them in a six-man match and they would find out why they were called the Hurt Business. He called Hurt Business the executioners.

Alexander said he found out the hard way how dangerous they were. Alexander let Apollo Crews know that tonight wasn’t about Crews getting revenge, this was about Alexander getting his revenge. Alexander said he didn’t care about Crews or his kids, which was a random line.

Crews and Ricochet entered. Crews didn’t care why Alexander did what he did and tonight would be a preview of Sunday when he becomes a two-time US Champion.

Apollo Crews (w/Ricochet) defeated Cedric Alexander (w/MVP) (7:56)

Crews used a baseball slide and they went to break less than 30 seconds into the match. Alexander was in control after the break. He used a Michinoku Driver for two. Crews came back with an enziguri, flying crossbody, Stinger splash and Samoan drop for two.

Alexander responded with a suicide dive. Ricochet got in his face so he told Ricochet to back off. Alexander slipped back in the ring and Crews caught him in a rollup for the pinfall win.

The Hurt Business music distracted Crews so Alexander attacked him from behind. They laid out Crews and Ricochet. Lashley put down Crews with a full nelson before leaving.

[Third hour]

Raw Underground

Dolph Ziggler and Arturo Ruas had a back-and-forth fight that Ziggler won with a sleeper.

Shane wanted to talk to Strowman but Strowman didn’t want to talk to him. Shane handed the mic to Briana Brandy who happened to be nearby and she asked a question instead. This tricked Strowman into speaking I guess. He threatened to beat everyone up and send them home with a pocket full of teeth and told Shane he should get in the ring if he wanted some.

Seth Rollins / Mysterio family segment

Rollins spoke about everything the Mysterio family has put him through. He went to WWE.com and noticed something that’s been bothering him about them. He showed a picture on the big screen and noted the difference between Rey and Dominik (presumably their height).

Rollins had some people do an investigation and had the results of that investigation in an envelope. He invited the Mysterio family out to hear it for themselves. They entered the stage. Rey threatened to beat him up.

Rollins tried to calm him down and said he respected them for standing together and overcoming adversity. Rollins said they deserved the truth.

Rollins had the results of a DNA test. He knew this was done once before but technology has changed so much. He had the truth on whether or not Rey was Dominik’s father.

Rollins said Rey was not the father. He laughed. Rey said they’ve been down this road before. It didn’t work then and it won’t work now.

Rollins realized he may have made a mistake when he asked the question to his investigator. Perhaps it was Aalyah who was not Rey’s daughter.

He had more evidence. He showed a replay of Aalyah checking on Murphy’s wellbeing last week. Rollins asked her what the deal was.

Rey told Rollins not to speak to her. Rey said they already spoke about what happened last week. He raised her to be caring and compassionate. He also noted that she was only 19 years old and didn’t know about this business.

Aalyah seemed offended by that comment and stormed to the back. Angie followed. Rey and Dominik followed too. Dominik looked back angrily at Rollins before leaving. Rollins acted sorry.

(Aalyah storming off after that comment felt very forced. Last week’s angle was nice and subtle. This was not.)

Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler defeated Natalya & Lana in a non-title match (1:00)

Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan joined commentary. They stressed being a stronger team than Jax and Baszler despite how dangerous each of them were individually.

Baszler tapped out Lana quickly with the Kirifuda Clutch.

The champs went after the challengers after the match. Ruby and Morgan fought Jax until Baszler backed them off.

Jax saw Lana nearby and gave her Samoan drop through the announce table again.

Caruso interivewed McIntyre who was icing his jaw in the trainer’s room. He said he was going to beat the piss out of Orton on Sunday and was ready to pick a fight tonight. He marched off. (Was he sitting there for the past hour?)

In the back, Aalyah told Rey that she can speak for herself. Rey was trying to protect her from Rollins. She said she only came to Raw to support Dominik and Rollins has hurt both of them. (She seemed to indicate that he was his fault.) She worried about what Rollins was capable of doing to her or her mom. She left.

Raw Underground

Riddick Moss knocked out Erik with a right hand.

Shane asked Brandy to ask Dabba-Kato a question. She seemed too intimidated by him to do so. Shane asked a question instead. He said Strowman would find out what he was capable of and told Shane to get out of his face. (Dabba-Kato came off well here.)

Raw Women’s Champion Asuka defeated Peyton Royce (w/Billie Kay) via DQ in a non-title match (2:22)

Royce got a few nearfalls. Asuka gave her a roundhouse kick and tried applying the Asuka Lock (I think) but Vega attacked for the DQ. Asuka tried to go after Vega but she bailed. A bad segment.

Murphy approached Aalyah in the back. She was startled upon seeing him. He sat down next to her and said the stuff with Rollins has gotten out of hand and apologized for anything he might have done to hurt her.

Raw Underground – Braun Strowman defeated Dabba-Kato

This went about 90 seconds. Strowman knocked down Dabba-Kato with a right hand, mounted him and hit a few strikes before the referee stopped it. I don’t know what I was expecting but this wasn’t much of a fight.

I suppose it should be noted that they’re now calling it “Shane McMahon’s Raw Underground” and “Raw Underground with Shane McMahon.”

6-man tag match: Hurt Business (w/MVP) defeated Retribution via DQ (6:21)

Each team entered before a break and the match started after the break, which means the chaotic Retribution kindly waited for the commercials. The women members of Retribution were not at ringside.

The male members of Retribution are named T-Bar (Dijakovic), Mace (Maddin) and Slapjack (Shane Thorne I guess). WWE is stylizing the names in all-caps, but I will not be doing that.

They added cheering when Hurt Business was on offense.

The match ended by disqualification when T-Bar (or Mace), who wasn’t the legal man, punched Lashley. Yup.

The secondary members of Retribution swarmed and attacked Hurt Business.

McIntyre’s music hit and he sprinted out with the Raw roster to join the brawl.

McIntyre was somehow the only man in the ring when Orton slipped in and gave him an RKO.

Raw was awful.

NWA Into the Fire live results: Nick Aldis vs. James Storm

The NWA’s first pay-per-view since the debut of NWA Power takes place tonight as GPB Studios in Atlanta hosts Into the Fire.

The PPV will be headlined by NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis defending his title against James Storm in a two-out-of-three falls match. In storyline, Storm has chosen Brian Hebner as the referee for one of the falls and Aldis has chosen former NWA Champion Tim Storm for another. After speculation about what she whispered in James Storm’s ear on an NWA Power episode, Aldis has also said that his manager Kamille has the night off tonight.

Two other title matches are set for the show. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express will defend their Tag Team titles against Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs, while Colt Cabana will defend his National Championship against Aron Stevens and Ricky Starks in a triple threat match.

NWA Women’s Champion Allysin Kay & Ashley Vox vs. Melina & Marti Belle, Eli Drake vs. Ken Anderson, Thunder Rosa vs. Tasha Steelz, and Trevor Murdoch vs. The Question Mark round out the card for Into the Fire. The PPV is available via Fite TV and will begin at 6:05 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

NWA Into the Fire opene with a voice over from Nick Aldis as highlights are shown from NWA Power leading into the PPV. Stu Bennett and Joe Galli ran down the card, and then the music hit for Eli Drake, who walked through the crowd down to the ring. Ken Anderson then made his entrance, high fiving the fans, ready for this grudge match with Drake.

Eli Drake defeated Ken Anderson

Anderson faked out a fan with giving out his t-shirt, which was weird, given that he’s the babyface based on how this is booked. Both men excahnged some basics in the ring, with Anderson getting the best of a hammerlock exchange, keeping Drake grounded. Anderson hit a clothesline and a slame, and sent Drake into the opposite corner before hitting another clothesline. Anderson facewashed Drake, and drake rolled to the floor. Anderson followed Drake back into the ring and hit an elbow. Anderson hit the ropes but Drake countered with a stun gun and then a neckbreaker for a 2 count.

Drake hit a running powerslam and an elboow for a 2 count, before knocking Anderson into the middle rope with a drop toe hold. Drake hit a kick and then a slingshot shoulder block. Drake countered a roll through and hit a swinging neckbreaker on Anderson in a nice spot. Anderson kicked out at 2 and Drake locked on a chinlock. Anderson fought out and both men exchanged strikes until Anderson hit the steamroller and scored a 2 count. Anderson reversed the Gravy Train into a schoolboy for a 2 count.

Anderson went to the top rope, but Drake jumped from the ring to the top rope and went for a suplex, but Anderson fought it off and went for a sunset flip powerbomb on Anderson. Drake countered into a pinfall and just managed to score the 3 count.

Very solid opening match here. Both guys worked a basic match, but it worked for the audience, and neither did anything they couldn’t do, which is always a win. This was quite good.

**********

Nick Aldis came out and cut a promo about how that the NWA used to be a name for the past, but there was one voice that called the NWA his mountain top, speaking about Tim Storm. Aldis then said that voice became two, with him, and now it is thousands with over 40 countries watching from around the world. He then spoke about James Storm and how he was going to retain his title. Aldis then said he gave Kamille the night off.

James Storm came out to a series of boos. Storm said that at the end of tonight, Aldis would know that he was in the ring with one of the toughest SOBs ever. He promised that he was going to wint the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship tonight, and left with Aldis staring at him and walking backstage. This was excellent. As always, the NWA seems to have the best promos going today.

A video aired for Melina’s debut in the NWA.

**********

Tasha Steelz came out and asked for David Marquez and talked about how she was adding flavour to the NWA. She said that the show was named Into the Fire appropriately because she would be bringing the latina heat. This was very, very good. Thunder Rosa then came out to a huge reaction. The way her career has changed since Lucha Underground is absolutely incredible.

Thunder Rosa defeated Tasha Steelz

Thunder Rosa got a go behind on Tasha, pulled her hair, then chopped her several times. Tasha hit one of her own and then went for a lucha armdrag, but Thunder Rosa countered and hit a clothesline. Thunder Rosa put Steelz into a tree of woe and hit a dropkick to the body for a 2 count. Despite being a heel, Thunder Rosa got a massive babyface reaction, except for when she was cheating in the match. Steelz hit a few chops, but Thunder Rosa counterd with a drop toe hold into a Gory Special.

Steelz dodged a double stomp and hit a pump kick. Tasha hit a series of strikes in the corner and hit a cutter for a 2 count. Steelz went for another cutter, but Thunder Rosa countered and hit a running knee before hitting her double stomp for a the 3 count.

This was a perfectly acceptable match. Thunder Rosa was fantastic here, but Tasha is green. Tasha has a ton of charisma and I’m quite sure she will be a star in the future. There is money in Thunder Rosa, and I hope they are able to push her sooner rather than later.

Thunder Rosa continued her attack after the bell, getting into mounted position and beating on Tasha. Ashley Vox ran down to make the save, but Thunder Rosa hit her with a shoulder breaker and then appeared to dislocate Vox’s elbow. What does this mean for Cox’s tag match later in the evening?

**********

The Question Mark came out with Aron Stevens and performed the Mongrovian Flag Ceremony, and sung the Mongrovian national anthem. This has to be seen to be believed, and I loved it. Trevor Murdoch interrupted the anthem. We were also informed that Stevens became a 3rd degree blackbelt in Mongrovian Karate, which I thought was hilarious.

?The Question Mark? defeated Trevor Murdoch

Question Mark started the match, hitting a chop to Murdoch’s stomach. Murdoch didn’t take kindly to this, hitting a big boot and a big slam. Murdoch called for one more, and Question Mark crashed to the mat a second time. The fans chanted “one more time” so he did, and Question Mark went to the apron.

Murdoch tried to remove Question Mark’s mask, but he fought out and hit a drop toe hold on Question Mark before hitting a series of hard strikes to the back of Question Mark’s head. Question Mark ducked under a shot and hit a Karate chop to Murdoch’s throat. Quesiton mark got a 2 count. Question then hit the ropes and hit two stomps to Murdoch’s face.

Mark hit a dropkick from the middle rope, but Trevor Murdoch got his foot on the ropes. After a few moves, Murdoch went to the top rope and tried to grab the Mongrovian flag. This infuriated Question Mark, who hit a double Mongrovian Spike to the throat of Murdoch for the pinfall victory.

This was fun. Question Mark is ridiculously over, and I love it.

**********

A hype video aired for the Rock n’ Roll Express, and they then came down to the ring to a massive reaction. Ricky Morton cut an amazing promo in the hype video about how they were the 9-time champions now.

The Rock n’ Roll Express w/ Eddie Kingston and Homicide defeated The Wild Cards w/ The Dawsons to retain the NWA World Tag Team Championship

Ricky Morton started the match with Latimer and both men locked up. Morton used a little agility, as he is the smaller man, and sent Latimer into the corner. Latimer shoved Morton into the corner, but Morton slipped out. Morton drew Isaacs to the RnR corner, and Robert tagged in and they hit a double elbow on Issacs.

Gibson tricked Isaacs into running into Latimer, and then Ricky Morton hit a suicide dive on both men!  Isaacs and Latimer started to get the heat on Morton soon thereafter, but it didn’t last long as Morton dodged a splash in the corner from Isaacs and rolled into the tag to Gibson. Gibson ran wild and then locked a sleeper on Latimer.

Isaacs cut him off, but the RnR made the Wild Cards look like fools as they crashed into each other. Morton then hit the Canadian Destroyer on Latimer! The Dawsons started brawling with Homicde and Kingston, which distracted Isaacs. The Rock n’ Roll express hit the double dropkick on Isaacs for the pinfall!

Stu Bennet and Joe Galli announced the next NWA PPV for January, and announced that the NWA was bringing back the NWA Worlds Television Championship

Eli Drake came out and insulted David Marquez and then cut a promo against Aldis. Drake said that he was in James Storm’s camp, but that it really didn’t matter who came out on top, as he wanted the next title shot. Drake talked about how the NWA is the hottest thing going today, and how he was the hottest thing in it.

Drake said that he was the man that shines in the NWA, and he doesn’t care who the champion is. He called Ken Anderson a speedbump, and as he did that, Ken Anderson came out and attacked Drake. Anderson grabbed a chair and wrapped it around Drake’s head before sending him crashing into the ring post. The referees came out and pulled Anderson away.

Anderson fought away from security and then hit the Mic Check face first into the standing steel chair. The referees rushed the ring to check on Drake, and it the crowd booed Anderson. Was this a heel turn? It’s a little hard to keep track of who the heels and babyfaces are in this feud. Drake did win clean, and Anderson is showing that he is a sore loser, so it could have been a double turn. I suppose we will find out more later.

This was a very good angle.

**********

Allysin Kay came out without a partner for her match with Melina and Marti Belle, and after they made their entrance, Kay’s replacement partner was announced: ODB!

Melina & Marti Belle defeated Allysin Kay and ODB

Kay started the match with Marti Belle, and Kay took this chance to beat the crap out of Belle for turning on her a few weeks back. Kay hit a huge chop and then 10 punches in the corner to the roar of the crowd. Kay got disctarted by Melina, and Belle rolled her up for a 2 count. Kay hit a neckbreaker on Belle for a 2 count. Kay then pulled Melina into the ring and went for the Dude Buster, but Melina rolled through into a sunset flip and then Marti Belle hit Kay wit ha running knee.

Marti Belle then tagged out to Melina who came in and started working over Kay. Despite her babyface style promos on Power, Melina was clearly working like a heel here. Melina went for a DDT, and botched it, falling way before Kay did. Belle hit a Russian legsweep on Kay for a 2 count. It’s probably best that Belle do the wrestling in this tag team, as Melina isn’t very good at all, and she hasn’t wrestled for a long time. Melina went for a kick, but Kay dodged and tagged out to ODB, who ran all over the ring hitting power moves on Belle.

Kay went for the Dude Buster on Melina, but she fought out. Marti hit the pedigree on Kay, but ODB then hit the BAM on Belle for the pinfall.

This match was perfectly fine with Marti Belle and Kay in there. Melina did not look good at all. The best usage of Melina might be having her cut promos and let Belle and Thunder Rosa do the wrestling. ODB was fine. Nothing spectacular. I still think the money for them is in Kay vs. Thudner Rosa long term, and I do believe they will go towards that.

**********

Aron Stevens (w/ ?The Question Mark?) defeated Colt Cabana & Ricky Starks for the NWA National Championship

Ricky Starks went right after Stevens and Cabana and Starks hit double bionic elbows on Stevens. Cabana went for a pinfall but Starks broke it up. As he argued with Cabana, Cabana blocked a kick from Stevens and threw his foot into Starks and kicked Stevens’ leg. Starks hit a dropkick on Stevens, which sent him to the floor. Stevens then went and hid behind the Christmas tree by the announce desk. Cabana and Starks then exchanged holds for the next few minutes, trying to best one another.

Cabana hit a shoulder block, but after a few go overs, Starks hit a shoulder block of his own and then a crossbody off the middle ropes. Cabana rolled through for a 2 count. Stevens ran back into the ring, did several Mongrovian Karate poses, and was dropped by Starks and Cabana who proceeded to chop the crap out of him in the corner. Cabana then threw Starks to the floor. Stevens was sent to the apron, but Cabana dodged an attack by Starks.

The Question Mark went onto the apron and distracted Cabana so that Stevens could hit a low blow on Cabana. Stevens then hit a rolling elbow and got a 2 count on Starks. Stevens hit a wacky elbow and then kneed Starks in the face and hit a headbutt on Cabana. Stevens was attacking Starks in the corner, and Question Mark laid Cabana out on the floor. Stevens told the crowd to shut up as he hit a suplex on Starks for a two count.

Stevens knocked Cabana off the apron and then continued his assault on Stevens. Stevens hit a lariat on Starks and got a 2 count. Stevens tried to knock Cabana off the apron again, but Cabana fought out and got back into the ring, only to have Stevens manage to throw him out again. Starks hot back to his feet and hit a sling blade on Stevens. Cabana and Starks hit a series of atomic drops, killing Stevens’ crotch, and then both men did the wishbone split. Starks hit a dropkick on Cabana and fell into a senton on Stevens for a 2 count.

Starks hit an elbow on Cabana and went for a tornado DDT, but Cabana pushed him off before it hit. Starks managed to lock on an abdominal stretch, but Cabana fought out and locked on the Billy Goat’s Curse on Starks. Starks crawled to the ropes and bit the ropes to break it. Aron Stevens hid himself under the sheet beneath the Christmas tree. Starks and Cabana exchanged several pinfall attempts, but after the Superman Pin attempt by Cabana, The Question Mark hit Cabana with the Mongrovian Spike. Question Mark held Starks outside the ring, and Stevens ran into the ring and pinned Colt Cabana!

This was actually a very fun match. The finish was something they built to from the very start of the match, and it was a classic heel win, as I don’t think Stevens hit one offensive move in the match.

**********

Tim Storm came out and cut a promo about the main event, as Aldis picked him to be the referee. Storm talked about how much it meant for him to be a part of the PPV. He promised that he was going to do his best to call it down the middle, and that both men were going to battle for the NWA Worlds Championship, which is his heart and soul. The title means so much to him that he was going to do his best to represent the NWA. Excellent promo from Storm here.

A hype video aired for Aldis and James Storm, with James Storm saying that when what Kamille said to him comes out, it’s going to change everything. Aldis said that this is why he gave her the night off. The crowd went nuts when we came back live, and they are ready for the NWA Worlds Championship match. James Storm got a huge amount of boos coming out, while Nick Aldis got an incredible reaction as he came down to the ring. There is no question that the fans think he is the man in wrestling, and Aldis does a great job carrying himself as such.

Nick Aldis vs. James Storm for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match

Brian Hebner was the referee for the first fall. Storm and Aldis locked up and chain wrestled with both men displaying good technique in the early portions of the match. James Storm talked about having a surprise for Aldis, and Kamille walked out. Aldis tried to send her to the back, but as he turned around, James Storm hit a superkick and pinned Aldis right away! Kamille walked away and disappeared after the pinfall. What does this mean for her relationship with Aldis?

Second Fall: Referee Tim Storm

Storm continued the attack on the outside, sending Nick Aldis into the stairs at ringside. Storm took Aldis into the crowd and up the stairs, dropping Aldis about halfway up. James Storm hit Aldis with a drink and Aldis staggered down the stairs until Storm grabbed him and smashed his head into the interview podium. James Storm then suplexed Aldis on the floor and did a Fargo Strut as the crowd said “Wooooo!” Nick Aldis managed to roll into the ring at the count of nine, but Storm threw him to the floor again.

James Storm tried to Irish whip Aldis into the Christmas Tree, but Aldis countered and sent storm crashing into the Mongrovian tree (according to Bennett, this is where they got it). The fans chanted “Merry Christmas” as James Storm managed to recover and hit a baseball slide dropkick on Aldis. Aldis still hadn’t fully recovered from the suplex on the floor, so Storm was able to go right back into an advantage after being thrown into the tree.

Storm continued to beat on Aldis in the middle of the ring before going to the middle rope. Storm went for an axe handle, but Aldis caught him and hit a belly-to-belly suplex. Both men got to their feet and Aldis hit two clotheslines, but Storm countered and hit Eye of the Storm for a 2 count. James Storm rolled to the floor and grabbed a steel chair. Tim Storm told him that he would DQ James Storm if he used it. James Storm gave the chair to Tim Storm, who removed it from the ring.

Nick Aldis countered an attack from James Storm and after a few pinfall counters, Nick Aldis was able to score the flash pinfall! A coin was flipped and Brian Hebner won the toss.

Third Fall: Brian Hebner

Both men stated brawling, but Aldis managed to hit a Michinoku Driver for a 2 count. Storm hit a jawbreaker and Aldis was able to counter the Back Stabber twice, but Storm was finally able to hit it on the third try, but Aldis kicked out. Storm ended up on the apron, dodging an Aldis charge, and hit an enziguri before going to the top rope. Aldis cut him off and then hit a superplex off the middle rope for the 2 count.

Aldis put Storm on the top rope and went for another superplex, but Storm fought out with a series of heabutts and then hit a huge flying elbow on Aldis for a 2 count. Both men ended up on their feet, but as James Storm went for a superkick, Aldis was able to catch it and went for the Figure Four. Storm rolled Aldis up to counter, but only got a 2. Storm recovered and locked on a Figure Four Leglock of his own. After a struggle, Aldis was able to reverse the preassure but James Storm made the ropes.

James Storm went for a float over in the corner, but Aldis caught him and hit a tombstone in the middle of the ring before going onto the top rope. Aldis bit a flying elbow dropw for a 2. No count, as Granny would say. Aldis hit a big chop on Storm and sent him to the ropes. Storm ducked a clothesline, but Aldis managed to clothesline the crap out of Brian Hebner by accident. Hebner took a flip bump, which was awesome. Tim Storm came down to the ring to check on Hebner as Aldis hit a DDT on James Storm.

James Storm countered an Aldis sunset flip for a 2 count. Storm hit a superkick and Aldis fell back into the corner. As Storm rolled Aldis up, Aldis pulled the turnbuckle pad off and kicked out at 2. As Aldis kicked out, James Storm flew headfirst into the exposed turnbuckle! Nick Aldis then picked up the legs of James Storm and locked on the Texas Cloverleaf! Tim Storm reluctantly called for the bell, as the crowd booed Aldis. Was Tim Storm in on this with Aldis, or is Tim Storm going to go after the title again after seeing this injustice?

A series of officials ran out to check on James Storm as Tim Storm raised Nick Aldis’ hand. This was an excellent match, and the finish was just the right combo of clever while putting heat on Aldis. Stu Bennet was pointing out that Nick Aldis should have been DQ’d for striking the referee, and had questions about the turnbuckle pad being so easily removed. Aldis went back to David Marquez to cut a promo after the match.

Nick Aldis said that the ring belonged to him and the fans. He said that men like him and James Storm find purpose in that rin, and that the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship is how he tells the world who he is. Aldis then said “There is not a man alive that can take this from me!” The lights went out, and Marty Scurll’s music hit! Marty Scurll is in the NWA! The crowd went insane for Marty as he walked down to the ring and faced off with Nick Aldis as the show went off the air.

Well, I can’t say I was expecting that. The crowd went absolutely insane for Scurll, and it appears he’s in the NWA, at least for now. What an excellent PPV from the NWA. I am definitely intrigued about where this is going.

Both men have been out of action for well over a year and are looking to get back into the title picture.

In the co-main event, it is a potential war at 170 pounds as Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone goes against Mike Perry in a fight that has gotten somewhat personal due to Cerrone’s war with former coach Mike Winklejohn, who will be in the corner of Perry.

Also on the card is the return of former UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Germaine de Randamie as she takes on Raquel Pennington, and the card features a lot of prospects in the likes of Maycee Barber, Luis Pena, Devonte Smith and recent TUF winner Mike Trizano.

Follow along with our live coverage of the event beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern time with preliminary action all the way through the main card.

KENNY OMEGA DEFEATED TOMOHIRO ISHII TO RETAIN THE IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP (30:56)

A great match. This was not worked at the level or the pace of their G1 match, probably because they went about ten minutes longer. The last ten minutes were crazy, though, and this was an excellent world title match main event.

They started off with an intense staredown, followed by a lockup. Omega hit a pair of shoulder tackles, but Ishii didn’t move. Omega raked the eyes and went for a third, but Ishii hit one of his own, dropping Omega. Ishii blocked a v-trigger, and escaped a low dropkick, and Omega sold frustration.

They traded palm strikes to the chest, and Omega planted Ishii with a DDT. Omega hit a neckbreaker, got a nearfall, then worked a chinlock. Omega’s focus was clearly on targeting Ishii’s neck. Omega hit the ropes, but Ishii hit him with a powerslam.

Omega went for you can’t escape, but Ishii rolled out of the way of the moonsault attempt. Omega hit a snap rana, and Ishii rolled to the floor. Omega hit a beautiful terminator dive. Back inside, he hit a kotaro krusher. Omega hit a big boot, but Ishii popped up and sent Omega to the floor with a clothesline over the top.

They brawled on the floor, all around ringside. Omega cleared off an announce table, but Ishii hit a snap vertical suplex. Omega recovered and placed Ishii on the table, behind the security fence. Omega went back to the ring, and hit a springboard foot stomp from the top rope, over the fence, through the table. Ishii beat the count back inside at 18.

Omega hit a neckbreaker over the knee, but Ishii side-stepped a v-trigger, and hit a Saito suplex. Ishii hit a series of chops to the throat in the corner, then hit Omega with a pounce. Ishii hit a powerbomb and made a jackknife cover, but Omega kicked out.

Omega stood up out of another german, and hit a v-trigger. Omega hit a series of forearms, then a snap dragon suplex. He hit a v-trigger, then a brainbuster for a two count. Omega hit a pair of v-triggers. He went for a third, and after Ishii first collapsed, he hit it. Omega hit a fourth to the back, and put Ishii on the top rope.

Ishii headbutted out of a top rope dragon attempt, then a top rope jay driller attempt, but Omega hit another v-trigger. Ishii countered with a reverse rana off the top. Ishii hit a headbutt to the chest, and made a belt motion around his waist.

NJPW-ROH Honor Rising night two results: Omega-Ibushi vs. Cody-Scurll

New Japan was back at Korakuen Hall today for the second night of action featuring members of the Ring of Honor roster, featuring a big main event putting the Golden Lovers in action against Cody and Marty Scurll, as well as Dalton Castle defending the Ring of Honor world title.

Show results:

Beer City Bruiser defeated Toa Henare

Short match, mostly an exhibition for the Beer City Bruiser, who didn’t look bad here. In fact, he worked hard the entire tour. He won with a frog splash.

Jay Lethal & Juice Robinson & David Finlay vs. Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens & Hikuleo

I liked the last few minutes of this, very good action. Hikuleo is way better than he was a few months ago. Still green, but getting there. Yujiro and Owens were clearing house until Owens accidently superkicked Yujiro. He walked into the Lethal Injection as the babyfaces returned to the ring. Hikuleo entered but ate a stunner, pulp friction and a top rope elbow from Lethal for the win.

Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI defeated Ryusuke Taguchi & Flip Gordon

This was fun, with some cools spots here and there. BUSHI beat up Taguchi on the west side of Korakuen Hall while Takahashi beat up Flip on the east. Gordon and Takahashi worked a lot of the match together and had good chemistry with one another. BUSHI got involved towards the end of the match and eventually pinned Gordon after he took an MX as he was on Takahashi’s shoulders in a cool finish.

Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa & Bad Luck Fale defeated Jushin Liger & Cheeseburger & Delirious to retain the Never Openweight Six-Man tag team titles

This was what it was,  guess you can say it was fine. Cheeseburger worked a lot of the match and got a bunch of near falls. He’s super over with this crowd. His size discrepancy is also amazing compared to everyone else in the ring (he is TINY), but clearly that is part of his charm. GoD eventually isolate Cheeseburger and pin him after the Guerilla Warfare.

Young Bucks & Hangman Page defeated Jay White & Chuckie T & YOSHI-HASHI

This was your usual very good Young Bucks style match. A lot of cool moves, including a Rite of Passage/Meltzer driver combo that almost happened, but unfortunately was thwarted. Page picked up the win for his team, pinning Jay White with his finish, almost certainly giving him a future United States title shot.

There was an angle after the match where Page was going for a chair and looked to use it on White. The Bucks intervened, talking him out of it. He agreed as the Bucks go to the back. However, once the Bucks were out of sight, he took the chair back from the outside and used it on White, drilling him with his finish on the chair.

The next match was set to begin when Beer City Bruiser came out and said that since he was screwed out of the NEVER title match last night, he was putting himself in this one. He attacked both Castle and Baretta until Castle fended him off and said he would take him on too. So the match was switched to a triple threat, likely due to Baretta tearing his bicep and pectoral muscle last week.

Dalton Castle defeated Baretta and the Beer City Bruiser to retain the Ring Of Honor World title

This was a good bout given the situation. Baretta was in the match, but was in and out as Castle and Bruiser worked the bulk of it. At one point, Baretta tried to take out Bruiser with a piledriver on the apron, but Bruiser countered and laid him out on the apron with a death valley driver. There was a great near fall spot where Castle tumbled to the floor and Bruiser hit a frog splash, but Baretta kicked out at 2.99. Should’ve heard the reaction to that one. Castle came back into the match and hit a deadlift German suplex on Bruiser to retain the title

Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi defeated Marty Scurll & Cody

This was a good main event. I think most of all they did a great job in getting over the Golden Lovers as a top tag team, even though that doesn’t require much effort. In one of the first big spots of the match, Ibushi tagged in Omega, which caused Cody to immediately exit the ring, not wanting to get near Omega. He sat in the second row, but Omega went to the top rope and launched himself all the way over to the second row, wiping out Cody. Omega and Ibushi tried to go for the Cross Slash, a stereo Golden triangle moonsault to the floor, but didn’t get it.

Cody got the heat on Ibushi until Omega finally got the hot tag and cleared house. Some great back and forth until Scurll uses a umbrella and strikes Omega to escape the One Winged Angel. Scurll traps Omega in the chicken wing and Cody sinks in a trailer hitch but both Golden Lovers manage to escape.

They look to finish Ibushi off with a dropkick/doomsday device combo, but Ibushi landed on his feet as he and Omega rallied back. They hit the cross slash, but Cody fired back and planted Omega with the crossroads. Scurll followed with the last shot on Ibushi. Cody then instructed Scurll to hold Ibushi. He managed to escape, but Cody grabs him and kisses him. This angers Ibushi, who plants him with the press powerbomb. He and Omega focus on Scurll, drilling him then pinning him after hitting the Golden Trigger, a kamigoye/V-trigger combination.

Omega after the match  said this was one of the greatest weekends in his life, and declared that they are the best tag team in the world. That brought out the Young Bucks, who weren’t too happy about that last statement. Matt said that when they went to the hotel room (at the end of the Being the Elite episode), the Golden Lovers made a peace offering, and they accepted. They didn’t have a problem with them until Omega said they were the greatest tag team in the world.

Matt announced that The Young Bucks have officially moved up to the heavyweight division, and that they would see them around. Omega then finished off the show translating the Bucks’ promo and wondered if what just happened was a challenge.

Welcome to F4WOnline.com’s live coverage of UFC 217: Bisping vs. St. Pierre, emanating from Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.

The UFC returns to the Big Apple for their biggest event of the year, with three title fights, and featuring the return of arguably the greatest fighter in UFC history looking to capture gold in a second weight division.

Former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre makes his long-awaited return to the Octagon after four years as he challenges Michael Bisping for the UFC Middleweight Championship.

The fight has been a roller coaster since first being announced in March, and at many times it looked like it wasn’t going to happen, but they will finally step across from each other tonight. St. Pierre looks to regain gold and win his 13th straight fight while Bisping looks to make his second title defense successful. Both men have vowed to retire the other.

In the co-main event, it is another long-awaited title fight as rivals and former teammates go to war. UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt makes his first title defense when he takes on former champion T.J. Dillashaw. They have gone back-and-forth all over the last year, and after being scheduled to fight in July only to be postponed, they finally square off.

In our third title fight, it will be UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk looking to continue her dominance at 115 pounds when she defends against Rose Namajunas. Namajunas has won four of her last five and will pose an interesting test for Jedrzejczyk, who is looking to remain undefeated and win her 15th straight fight.

Follow along with our live coverage of the event beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern time with preliminary action all the way through the main card.

We are looking for your thoughts on tonight’s event, so send a thumbs up, a thumbs down or a thumbs in the middle along with a best fight and a worst fight to Dave at [email protected].

UFC 216 live results: Ferguson vs. Lee; Johnson vs. Borg

Welcome to F4WOnline.com’s live coverage of UFC 216: Ferguson vs. Lee, emanating from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As the city of Las Vegas continues to mourn after the horrific events of this past Sunday, the UFC will do their part in entertaining the fans in “The Fight Capital of the World” by bringing a night full of bouts inside the Octagon.

The event is headlined by a battle for the Interim UFC Lightweight Championship as Tony Ferguson takes on Kevin Lee in one of the best fights, on paper, made this year. Both men are on long win streaks, as Ferguson has won nine straight and Lee has won five straight, and both are looking to wrap UFC gold around their waists, and perhaps more importantly, secure a shot against Conor McGregor when he returns.

The semi-main event looks to see history made as UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson will attempt to set the record for most consecutive title defenses as he defends against Ray Borg. They were pushed back a month after Borg was forced to pull out of UFC 215 last month, leaving Johnson having to wait to stamp his position as the best fighter in the sport.

Also on the main card is an intriguing heavyweight matchup as former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum takes on Derrick Lewis, and lightweights Beneil Dariush and Evan Dunham kick off the main card.

BREAKING: The heavyweight bout between Fabricio Werdum and Derrick Lewis was a last-minute scratch from the card due to a back injury suffered by Lewis. Werdum is staying on the card as Walt Harris is going to replace Lewis, which means Mark Godbeer is now off the card.

> Lando Vannata (9-2, 1-2 UFC) vs. Bobby Green  (23-8, 4-3 UFC)
Lightweights

Ryan’s internet kicked out in Vegas so Paul Fontaine taking over from here.

This was a crazy fight. Vannata was docked a point in the first and it turned out to be crucial. He threw an illegal knee while Green was down. The replay showed it didn’t land but the ref docked him a point anyway. That made it a 9-9 first.

The next two rounds were wild with both guys going all-out for a win and somehow managing to stay in till the end. Vannata appeared to land the harder shots but his face was a crimson mask by the end as Green’s shots obviously did more damage. The last two rounds could’ve gone either way and the first was an obvious 9-9. I scored it 29-27 Green and Ryan had it 29-27 Vannata

Official result – split draw on scores of 29-27 Vannata, 29-27 Green and 28-28

> Tom Duquesnoy (15-1 1 NC, 1-0 UFC) vs. Cody Stamann (15-1, 1-0 UFC)
Bantamweights

Nothing could follow that last fight. This wasn’t bad but the crowd got restless at the end. I thought Duquesnoy pretty clearly won the first round and the last two Stamman took over with his wrestling as he got numerous takedowns and then the thread of the takedown allowed him to do more on the feet. It wasn’t a blowout but Stamman clearly won the last two and I had it 29-28 for him.

Official result – Cody Stamman by split decision on scores of 29-28, 28-29 and 30-27

PPV MAIN CARD | 10 PM ET/7 PM PT

> Beneil Dariush (#12, 14-3, 8-3 UFC) vs. Evan Dunham (#14, 18-6, 11-6 UFC)
Lightweights

On most nights, this would’ve been fight of the night but nothing is likely to top the Green/Vannata fight from earlier. Dariush had a great first round, nearly finishing Dunham with great punches and elbows on the feet and doing a lot of damage when it went to the ground. But he seemed to tire himself out trying to finish by the end of the round. Dunham stayed in it and did much better in the last two rounds. They were fairly close but Dunham did enough to take both rounds in my book and I gave a 10-8 to Dariush in round 1 meaning it was a 28-28 draw

Official result – majority draw (29-28 Dariush, 28-28 x 2)

> Mara Romero Borella (11-4 1 NC, 0-0 UFC) vs. Kalindra Faria (18-5-1, 0-0 UFC)
Women’s Flyweights

Both women making their UFC debuts on a PPV main card is almost unprecedented. Borella made the most of it as she got an early takedown and eventually worked her way into mount. Faria gave up her back, allowing Borella to secure a rear naked choke for the win.

Official result – Mara Romero Borella by submission (rear naked choke) at 2:54

> Fabricio Werdum (#2, 21-7-1, 9-4 UFC)  vs. Walt Harris (10-5, 3-4 UFC)
Heavyweights

Very similar to the last fight, only faster. Werdum got a takedown 30 seconds in. He quickly moved into mount. Harris gave up his back and instead of going for the choke, Werdum grabbed an arm and Harris quickly tapped.

Official result – Fabricio Werdum by submission (armbar) at 1:05

> Demetrious Johnson (C, 26-2-1, 14-1-1 UFC) vs. Ray Borg (#3, 11-2, 5-2 UFC)
UFC Flyweight Championship

Johnson targeted Borg’s lead leg with kicks early. Borg had a couple of failed takedown attempts and one on of them Johnson stuffed it and ended up on top. He was workmanlike on the ground with several different submission attempts. At one point the strike count was 23-0 and I’m not sure Borg did land a strike in the round. 10-8 Johnson on my card

Borg started off a little strong, getting a takedown but Johnson got right up. Borg took his back standing and had a choke for a bit but Johnson shook him off and ended up on top on the ground. Johnson took over from there, landing all kinds of punches and elbows on the ground and a few more submission attempts. At one point the strike count was 62-1. Another 10-8 round for Johnson.

More of the same here. Borg got a takedown but Johnson got right up. Borg attempted another and Johnson just fell on top of him. He maintained top control for the whole round, with several submission attempts. Strike count was 95-7 at one point. 10-8 Johnson

Borg got an early takedown but Johnson got right up and then got one of his own. He was all over him on the ground, constantly advancing and working for subs. Strikes count was 125-11 and Johnson landed many more after that. Another 10-8, although I suspect there’s no way the judges will have this score, I have 40-32 after 4

Johnson got an early takedown but Borg managed to get to his feet. Borg was stuffed on a takedown attempt and then Johnson got another takedown and moved right into side control. Borg managed to get almost to his feet but Johnson landed hard knees to the body. Borg briefly to his feet and Johnson picked him up and started a suplex but grabbed an armbar on the way down. He looked like he was going to rip his arm off and Borg tried to fight it off before tapping. Best performance I think I’ve ever seen in a title fight. Johnson is the best ever, at any weight class.

Official result – Demetrious Johnson by submission (armbar) at 3:15 of the 5th round

> Tony Ferguson (#2, 22-3, 12-1 UFC) vs. Kevin Lee (#7, 16-2, 9-2 UFC)
Interim UFC Lightweight Championship

Despite the awesome last fight, the crowd was pretty hot for this one. Ferguson clearly the crowd favorite but Lee had a better first round. He was landing more often on the feet but it was fairly close. Lee got a late takedown and quickly took side control. He get mount with about 30 seconds left and landed a ton of punches and elbows and Ferguson was in real trouble but managed to get to his feet before the round ended. Lee had a punch after the bell and was warned by ref Herb Dean. 10-9 Lee

Round 2 was entirely on the feet. It was pretty close but Ferguson was more active and probably did more damage as well. Lee had cuts on his cheek and forehead and was bleeding from his nose. Significant strikes were 24-16 for Ferguson and it’s all tied up after 2.

Lee was very tired coming out for the third and clearly wanted to take things to the ground. He got an early takedown but Ferguson had a really tight triangle attempt and then nearly finished Lee with an armbar. Lee had a nice escape and maintained top control for about a minute afterward. Ferguson got to his feet but Lee got another takedown. It was almost a replay of the first time as Ferguson immediately secured a triangle. Lee tapped out right before he passed out and the ref stopped it.

Official result – Tony Ferguson by submission (triangle choke) at 4:02 of the 3rd round

Ferguson, of course, called out Conor McGregor after the fight, telling him to defend, or vacate. The crowd had been behind Ferguson all night but booed him after that one.

Lee was despondent after the fight. He admitted he had a staph infection and that’s why he had such a hard weight cut. He put over Ferguson and said he didn’t give him enough credit prior to the fight.

Adam Cole debuts at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III

Image: WWE.com

Adam Cole made his NXT debut Saturday at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, attacking Drew McIntyre and aligning himself with Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly.

McIntyre had just won the NXT title by defeating Bobby Roode. The show was set to close when Fish and O’Reilly, who made their NXT debut as a team earlier on the show attacking SAniTy, appeared on the apron. This let Cole, who came in through the crowd, attack him from behind.

All three put the boots to McIntyre, signaling an alliance. Cole grabbed McIntyre’s title and held it high, indicating that he was coming for the title.

It had pretty much been known that Cole was making his way here following his departure from Ring of Honor in May. Cole had been with the promotion since 2009, where he initally teamed with O’Reilly as Future Shock. He ascended to the top of the roster, winning the ROH world title on three different occasions, a company record.

We’ll have more on this tonight on Wrestling Observer Radio.
