Kayden Carter & Katana Chance win Women’s Tag Team titles on WWE Raw

Kayden Carter and Katana Chance are the new Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Carter & Chance won the titles from Chelsea Green and Piper Niven on Monday’s Raw, pinning Green following their afterparty finisher, a neckbreaker/450 splash combo. They got a title match after winning a number one contender’s match on last week’s Raw, defeating Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae.

After the match, the two celebrated backstage with Kofi Kingston, who was dressed up as Kofi Claus. As they left, Natalya (with Tegan Nox) said that with new champions, come new number one contenders. Shayna Baszler (with Zoey Stark) agreed as the two teams met face-to-face.

Triple H congratulated the new champions on X shortly after their win.

Green won the titles with Sonya Deville back on the July 17 edition of Raw. However, shortly after winning the titles Deville was put out of action after tearing her ACL. The following month, Piper Niven declared herself Green’s new tag team partner. WWE recognizes this as a continuation of Green’s reign with Deville.

Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler unify WWE & NXT Women’s Tag Team titles

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler have unified both Women’s Tag Team titles in WWE.

Rousey & Baszler defeated NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn to unify both titles on Friday’s SmackDown. The finish came when Rousey applied an armbar to Dawn and Baszler applied the rear naked choke to Fyre, with both Dawn and Fyre tapping out. After the match was over, Rousey & Baszler were named the Undisputed WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. It was said during commentary that the winners of the match would defend the titles across all three of WWE’s brands, including NXT.

After the match, Rousey called out Raquel Rodrigez, who was at ringside, and asked her why she was even here. Rodrigez told Rousey that “they” wanted a rematch for their tag team titles. This brought out the return of Liv Morgan, who has been out of action since May with a shoulder injury.

Fyre and Dawn had been champions since April 1, when they won the titles from Fallon Henley and Kiana James at NXT’s Stand & Deliver event. As part of the 2023 WWE Draft, the two were drafted to SmackDown, bringing the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles with them.

Liv Morgan injured, WWE Women’s Tag Team title match postponed

The Women’s Tag Team title match originally scheduled for Raw on Monday has been postponed due to injury.

On Raw Monday night, footage was shown of Morgan taking a kick during Morgan’s and Raquel Rodriguez’s tag team title match against Bayley and Dakota Kai. Following the footage, Rodriguez was seen in Adam Pearce’s office arguing with Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green, who were to be their opponents on Raw. However, Pearce said that Morgan was not medically cleared and the match would be postponed. A singles match was made for later on Raw with Rodriguez facing Green.

Fightful Select had reported prior to Raw that Morgan was injured. She originally was scheduled for a Cricket Wireless meet and greet on Monday morning, but was replaced by Dolph Ziggler. The severity of the injury isn’t currently known.

Morgan & Rodriguez have been champions since the April 10 edition of Raw, when they defeated Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch to become champions as a team for the first time.

IYO SKY & Dakota Kai advance to finals of WWE Women’s Tag Team title tournament

IYO SKY and Dakota Kai have advanced to the finals of the WWE Women’s Tag Team title tournament.

On Monday’s Raw, they defeated Alexa Bliss and Asuka to advance. The finish had Asuka putting Kai in the Asuka lock. However, Asuka was unaware that SKY had tagged in. The confusion allowed SKY to roll up Asuka and pin her to advance in the finals.

With the win, SKY and Kai will next face the winner of the match between Aliyah & Raquel Gonzalez and the winner of a “second chance fatal four-way match” that will take place on SmackDown this coming Friday. Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin of NXT’s Toxic Attraction had originally advanced to the semifinals, but the team was pulled from the tournament after WWE announced Dolin had suffered injuries during the match that took place on Friday.

Tonight’s Raw opened with Trish Stratus coming to the ring. Bayley, SKY, and Kai came out and confronted Stratus, asking why she was there. This brought out Bianca Belair, Asuka, and Bliss to even the odds against Bayley’s stable, leading to the tag match.

Sasha Banks & Naomi ‘suspended indefinitely’ by WWE, tag team titles vacated

After walking out of Raw this Monday, Sasha Banks and Naomi have been “suspended indefinitely” by WWE.

The indefinite suspension was announced during tonight’s episode of SmackDown. It was also revealed that the Women’s Tag Team titles have been vacated and there will be a tournament in the future to crown the new champions.

“Their actions disappointed millions of WWE fans and their fellow superstars,” Michael Cole said on commentary. “So because of what Sasha and Naomi did this past Monday night, they have been suspended indefinitely. And we will have a future tournament to crown the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.”

Cole also said that Banks and Naomi “let us all down” by walking out of Raw.

Banks and Naomi walked out of Monday’s show after taking issue with the planned creative direction. They were supposed to be part of a number one contender’s six-pack challenge in the main event of the episode. Becky Lynch, Asuka, Doudrop, and Nikki A.S.H. were going to be the other participants in the match.

Naomi was set to win the six-pack challenge and Banks was planned to start a feud with SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, with Naomi and Banks both going on to lose their respective title matches.

The six-pack challenge was instead changed to a singles match where Asuka defeated Lynch. Asuka will challenge for Bianca Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell on Sunday, June 5.

WWE issued the following statement on Monday night:

When Sasha Banks and Naomi arrived at the arena this afternoon, they were informed of their participation in the main event of tonight’s Monday Night Raw.

During the broadcast, they walked into WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis office with their suitcases in hand, placed their tag team championship belts on his desk and walked out.

They claimed they weren’t respected enough as tag team champions. And even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents even though they’d had matches with those individuals in the past with no consequence. Monday Night Raw is a scripted live TV show, whose characters are expected to perform the requirements of their contract.

We regret we were unable to deliver, as advertised, tonight’s main event.

Banks and Naomi have yet to comment on the situation. They had been Women’s Tag Team Champions since winning the titles at night two of WrestleMania 38 last month.

Ripley & Morgan added to WWE WrestleMania 38 women’s tag title match

A new team has been added to the WWE Women’s Tag Team title match at WrestleMania 38.

Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley were added to the title match following tonight’s Raw, where they defeated current champions Queen Zelina and Carmella. The finish of the match had Carmella talking to fiance Corey Graves at ringside, ignoring the match happening in the ring. This allowed Ripley to come in and pin Zelina with the riptide.

It was also announced that the Women’s Tag Team title match has been added to WrestleMania Sunday, April 3.

Two weeks ago on SmackDown, Naomi and Sasha Banks issued the challenge to Zelina and Carmella, saying they were the next champions. Carmella and Zelina then accepted the tag team title match on the following Monday’s edition of Raw.

Here is the current lineup for both nights of WrestleMania:

Night one (Saturday, April 2) —

  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defends against Ronda Rousey
  • Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defends against Bianca Belair
  • Rey & Dominik Mysterio vs. The Miz & Logan Paul
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Happy Corbin

Night two (Sunday, April 3) —

  • Winner-take-all championship unification match: WWE Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Universal Champion Roman Reigns
  • Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory
  • Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville
  • AJ Styles vs. Edge
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Carmella & Zelina Vega defend against Sasha Banks & Naomi and Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan

Charlotte wins SD Women’s title, Kabuki Warriors become tag champs

Charlotte is once again a champion in WWE, while the Kabuki Warriors have claimed their first title as a tag team.

The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) defeated Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross tonight at Hell in a Cell in a match announced just hours before the show started. Asuka gave Cross the green mist, then pinned her following a kick to the head. Bliss and Cross had held the titles for 62 days, winning them on the August 5 edition of Raw, defeating Peyton Royce and Billie Kay.

Meanwhile, Charlotte defeated Bayley to win the SmackDown Women’s championship, submitting her with the figure eight. This match was added to the show after SmackDown’s debut on FOX, where Charlotte pinned Bayley in a tag team match.

This is Charlotte’s fifth reign with the SmackDown Women’s championship. With her 4 Raw Women’s titles and her single NXT Women’s title, Charlotte is now a ten time champion.
