Women’s title match confirmed for WWE Super ShowDown

Naomi will be getting a SmackDown Women’s championship match next week at Super ShowDown.

She pinned Carmella tonight on SmackDown following a split-legged moonsault. The number one contenders match was set up last week when Carmella wanted a rematch after losing a championship match to Bayley earlier in the program. Naomi later did an interview on that show saying she wanted a shot as well. The match was then made for this week.

Since returning to the SmackDown brand, Naomi has confronted champion Bayley on several occasions. She was involved in a match two weeks ago where the winner would face Bayley in a championship match on the February 14 edition of SmackDown, but it was won by Carmella, who pinned Naomi in a fatal four way match that also involved Alexa Bliss and Dana Brooke.

Previously, women were unable to compete at WWE’s Saudi Arabia events. However, that changed when Natalya and Lacey Evans had a match at Crown Jewel back in November.

Super ShowDown will take place next Thursday at the Mohammed Abdu Arena on the Boulevard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Charlotte wins SD Women’s title, Kabuki Warriors become tag champs

Charlotte is once again a champion in WWE, while the Kabuki Warriors have claimed their first title as a tag team.

The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) defeated Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross tonight at Hell in a Cell in a match announced just hours before the show started. Asuka gave Cross the green mist, then pinned her following a kick to the head. Bliss and Cross had held the titles for 62 days, winning them on the August 5 edition of Raw, defeating Peyton Royce and Billie Kay.

Meanwhile, Charlotte defeated Bayley to win the SmackDown Women’s championship, submitting her with the figure eight. This match was added to the show after SmackDown’s debut on FOX, where Charlotte pinned Bayley in a tag team match.

This is Charlotte’s fifth reign with the SmackDown Women’s championship. With her 4 Raw Women’s titles and her single NXT Women’s title, Charlotte is now a ten time champion.

Three title matches set up for WWE Fastlane

Three title matches for Fastlane were set up on tonight’s edition of SmackDown.

Shane McMahon announced that Bobby Roode will defend the United States Championship against Randy Orton. The two were involved in a confrontation earlier in the show, with Roode initially being the last man standing. Jinder Mahal, however, laid out Roode with the Khallas from behind.

Daniel Bryan wanted to make the match Roode vs. Mahal, but Shane overrode him and went with Orton. We’ll see if Mahal gets added between now and Fastlane.

The SmackDown Tag Team Championship match was decided as The New Day defeated Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable to become the new number one contenders. Benjamin & Gable appeared to have the match won at one point, but the referee was distracted by Kofi Kingston.

The Bludgeon Brothers came out soon after The New Day won, and the two teams had a staredown before Harper & Rowan went on to destroy a pair of enhancement wrestlers.

It was also determined tonight that SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair will defend her title against Ruby Riott at the pay-per-view. Riott and the rest of The Riott Squad have been feuding with Charlotte for the last few weeks, with Riott picking up a win over Becky Lynch in a six-woman tag team match on tonight’s show that also featured Charlotte. Later, Charlotte and Riott went back and forth in video promos and Charlotte accepted Riott’s challenge.

Fastlane, the final SmackDown-only PPV, will take place on March 11th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
