John Cena thanks WWE ring announcer Alicia Taylor

John Cena is thankful for the role that ring announcer Alicia Taylor played in his WWE retirement tour.

At Survivor Series this past weekend, Taylor performed the last ring introduction that she’ll ever do for Cena. Taylor reflected on the moment by tweeting that it’s been an “absolute honor” to play a role in Cena’s final WWE run. Cena — who now only has one match left before retirement — responded to Taylor by praising her professionalism and passion.

“Matches and moments are only memorable if we ALL believe in them. Thank YOU for being a driving force to help audiences around the world enjoy and invest in these moments,” Cena wrote. “NO ONE does it alone. Your professionalism, passion, presentation and overall love of the business lay the foundation for lifelong memories.”

Cena lost to Dominik Mysterio at Saturday’s PLE, dropping the Intercontinental title back to Dominik after a brief run with the belt. The returning Liv Morgan helped Dominik win the match.

The final date on Cena’s retirement tour is WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. on December 13. Lilian Garcia is expected to be the ring announcer for Cena’s final match. His opponent has still yet to be determined, but we know that it will be either Gunther, Solo Sikoa, Jey Uso, or LA Knight. The semifinals of WWE’s Last Time is Now tournament are pitting Gunther against Sikoa and Uso against Knight.

WWE Survivor Series notes: Bron Breakker update, attendance, celebrities, Stephanie Vaquer

Bron Breakker was on the receiving end of a scary looking bump early in the men’s WarGames match that closed Saturday’s WWE Survivor Series (seen below).

Breakker landed right on his neck after a CM Punk/Cody Rhodes Doomsday Device. He wasn’t involved for several minutes and then got back in it, eventually getting the final pinfall after hitting Punk with a running spear.

Our Bryan Alvarez is reporting that Breakker was being checked out in medical after the match and was then cleared. Breakker appeared on the post-show without looking worse for wear.

Survivor Series attendance

WWE announced a record Survivor Series attendance of 46,016 for Petco Park in San Diego, California.

Stephanie Vaquer

There were just two title defense on the show with WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer leaving San Diego with her title reign intact after defeating Nikki Bella. The other match saw Dominik Mysterio regain his Intercontinental title from John Cena thanks to Liv Morgan’s surprise return.

Celebrities

Musicians Lil Yachty, Adriel Favela, Cassie B & Jesus Ortiz Paz, boxer Andy Ruiz, San Diego Padres pitcher Jeremiah Estrada, and actors Gabriel Luna and Danielle Fishel (Topanga from Boy Meets World) were all shown on screen.

Men’s WarGames advantage decided for WWE Survivor Series

We now know which team will have the order of entry advantage in Saturday’s WWE Survivor Series men’s WarGames match.

In a bout to determine which team will have the advantage at Survivor Series, Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre defeated Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso on Monday’s Raw to earn the edge for their team in the episode’s main event.

Paul, McIntyre, Brock Lesnar, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed will face Jimmy, Jey, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns in the men’s WarGames match on Saturday at Petco Park in San Diego at Survivor Series.

Both teams brawled in the aftermath of Monday’s main event to build anticipation for Saturday’s WarGames battle.

Friday’s SmackDown episode will feature another advantage match, this one to determine the order of entry edge for the women’s WarGames matchup.

Our full report from Monday’s WWE Raw is available here.

WWE announces Survivor Series WarGames team changes

Multiple changes to the Survivor Series WarGames matches were revealed during Friday’s WWE SmackDown episode.

Men’s Survivor Series WarGames changes —

In the show-closing angle on SmackDown, Drew McIntyre aligned with The Vision team by attacking Rhodes and signed an agreement to team with the Paul Heyman-led group in WarGames.

Earlier on SmackDown, Jimmy Uso was officially added to the babyface side. That team is currently comprised of WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso.

Each team now has one open spot ahead of the match set for Saturday, November 29, unless the plan is to do a four-on-four, which would mean the teams are now set. Each main roster men’s WarGames match in WWE to this point has been five-on-five.

Women’s Survivor Series WarGames changes —

In SmackDown’s opening segment on Friday, Charlotte Flair withdrew from the babyface team in the women’s WarGames match, stating that she could not put aside her storyline differences with Rhea Ripley in order to team with her.

The women’s babyface team currently consists of Ripley, Alexa Bliss, and IYO SKY. The heel side is made up of Lash Legend, Nia Jax, Asuka, and Kairi Sane.

Survivor Series takes place at Petco Park in San Diego on Saturday, November 29.

Update on plans for John Cena and Rey Mysterio at WWE Survivor Series

With this month’s WWE Survivor Series rapidly approaching, there continues to be questions about what new Intercontinental Champion John Cena will be doing at the show.

On Wednesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez were discussing that aspect with Meltzer saying he expects this Monday’s Raw from Madison Square Garden to be “a hell of a show” that completes the men’s WarGames match lineup.

However, it doesn’t appear that Cena will be part of that match.

Meltzer said he had thought Cena could be part of the double cage match to create a dream team alongside CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.

“I can tell you that is not happening,” he said. “I was told (of the idea) ‘not even close,'” he said.

Meltzer then added that a match between Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio is also not taking place at the PLE from San Diego’s Petco Park.

He said he’s unsure if that means a Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio rematch for the title will take place instead or not. Originally, their singles match was set to take place at Survivor Series but was moved up to this past Monday’s Raw in Boston instead.

Current WWE Survivor Series WarGames lineup | Saturday, November 29

  • Men’s WarGames match (current participants): CM Punk, Jey Uso & Cody Rhodes vs. Logan Paul, Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed
  • Women’s WarGames match (current participants): Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair vs. Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Asuka & Kairi Sane

Women’s WarGames match announced for WWE Survivor Series

The Women’s War Games match for Survivor Series is set.

It was confirmed during Raw on Monday that Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Naomi will face off against Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, and Candace LeRae in a WarGames match on November 30. This follows an angle that took place on Raw that saw all ten women brawl.

The segment started off with Morgan and Rodriguez coming face to face with Jax and Stratton. LeRae joined them as SKY, Women’s Tag Team Champions Belair & Cargill, and Naomi came to the ring and had a staredown. That was when Ripley, wearing a face protector, came to the ring. Staring Morgan straight in the face, she declared War Games.

Next week on Raw will see Belair and Jax battle to determine which team gets the advantage in the WarGames match.

Last month during an episode of NXT, Ripley took part in a backstage segment that saw her being attacked in the parking lot. Personnel checked on her as Morgan and Rodriguez walked away carrying baseball bats. It was later reported that Ripley had suffered a fractured orbital bone, thus needing a reason to be written out of storylines.

The lineup to this point for WWE Survivor Series WarGames set for Saturday, November 30 in Vancouver:

  • Men’s WarGames match: OG Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso & Sami Zayn) & TBA vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa) & TBA
  • Women’s WarGames match: Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, & Naomi vs. Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, & Candice LeRae
  • World Heavyweight title: Gunther defends against Damian Priest

OG Bloodline vs. Bloodline WarGames match set for WWE Survivor Series

Both iterations of The Bloodline will square off in a WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series.

Dubbed the “OG Bloodline,” Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and Sami Zayn will face The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa in a four-on-four WarGames match at Survivor Series on Saturday, November 30.

WWE has yet to officially announce the bout, but both sides agreed to the match in the closing segment of Friday’s SmackDown episode.

Sikoa’s Bloodline was in the ring for a Tribal Chief acknowledgment ceremony and called out Reigns to acknowledge Sikoa. Reigns challenged Sikoa to a singles match to determine the true Tribal Chief, but Sikoa declined and instead proposed the WarGames bout.

In a swerve, Sikoa announced Zayn as the fifth member of his Bloodline team for the match, stating that he was in cahoots with Zayn and that Zayn had intentionally hit Reigns at Crown Jewel. Zayn came to the ring and helped Reigns and The Usos clean house.

SmackDown ended with Reigns, The Usos, and Zayn holding up one finger, the symbol for their version of The Bloodline that dominated SmackDown in 2022 and 2023.

The lineup to this point for WWE Survivor Series WarGames set for Saturday, November 30 in Vancouver:

  • WarGames match: OG Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso & Sami Zayn) vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa)
