Netflix edition of WWE 2K25 now available for pre-order

WWE 2K25: Netlfix edition is now available for fans to pre-order.

For the first-time ever since 2015, WWE 2K series is again coming to mobile devices for players and fans to play. WWE 2K25 Netflix edition is now inching closer to its release date and will be available to those with an active Netflix subscription. Almost a year later since its announcement, recently it was officially announced that the pro-wrestling video game is now available to pre-order on Apple’s App Store & Google’s Play Store.

The news was shared on Netflix Games’ social media platform alongside a brief gameplay trailer video. As per the App store listing, WWE 2K25: Netflix edition is expected to release on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025.

More details on WWE 2K25: Netflix edition

The mobile edition WWE 2K25 will be limited than the full game available on PC and gaming consoles. A part of the limitations will be visible in the roster size, in-game features, creative suite, match types, and much more.

Interestingly, a career mode unique to this version of the game will also be present where players can take control of a superstar of their choice and complete a series of matches to increase stats and ratings.

Recently, Take-Two revealed that WWE 2K26 will also release in Q4 in 2026.

Paul Heyman: New Jack in WWE 2K25 is ‘moment of completion’ for video game industry

According to Paul Heyman, the video game industry has reached its final form.

The WWE 2K25 game released a new DLC pack on Wednesday featuring Bull Nakano, Penta, KSI (wearing a Prime bottle), Jordynne Grace, and ECW legend New Jack. Heyman spoke to Metro about New Jack’s inclusion in the game, calling it a “moment of completion in the video game industry.”

“This is a moment of completion in the entire video game industry,” Heyman said.

“You cannot deny New Jack’s influence in sports entertainment/pro wrestling culture, nor should you deny his influence on video games.”

“‘Most of the people that are writing the codes that then become the video games were ECW or WWE fans,’ he added before expressing that New Jack likely influenced the developers of the hit GTA franchise.

“And I mean, are you telling me that those who make Grand Theft Auto weren’t influenced by New Jack? Come on!”

New Jack’s character in the video game will bring a shopping cart full of weapons to the ring with him, just as his real life counterpart did. His theme music will also play throughout his matches, as it did while he was in ECW.

“What a fantastic idea to pay tribute to someone that has been such an influence on not only the culture of pro wrestling, but on the culture of video games, because of the influence that we’ve had on those who write the games.

WWE 2K25 also released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on Wednesday. The next WWE 2K25 DLC pack to release will be on September 17. The Attitude Era pack will consist of Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, Victoria, Mark Henry, and D’Lo Brown.

Heyman’s full interview with Metro is available here.

  • WWE 2K has released footage of Abyss’ entrance for WWE 2K25.
  • In an interview with Fightful, Abyss reiterated that he doesn’t plan on wrestling again and is focused on being a producer for WWE: “To answer quite frankly, I’m done. Physically, I don’t have plans on wrestling again. Never say never, but I don’t see it in the cards, nor do I want it in the cards. I’m so happy with what I’m doing and the challenge that being a producer presents to me every day there. I’m so focused on that and being the best producer I can be. I had a great career with no regrets. Nothing I would have changed. It was time to move on and fortunately, I was lucky enough to be presented the opportunity to be a producer for the biggest and best wrestling company in the world. That, to me, was something that I never saw coming. I never thought that was going to be a possibility, just like I never thought this video game participation would be a possibility. That’s what I’m focused on now. Being the best producer I can be and contributing to the business that way.”

Tyrese Haliburton coming to WWE 2K25 as part of ‘Dunk & Destruction’ DLC pack

Tyrese Haliburton is coming to WWE 2K25.

The Indiana Pacers star appeared on Raw to make the announcement. He will be part of the Dunk & Destruction DLC pack that will be released on June 25 along with two other NBA stars that have yet to be announced. The Great Khali and Abyss will round out the pack.

WWE 2K’s social media account posted the first photo of Haliburton in the game.

The Pacers are set to face the New York Knicks in this year’s NBA playoffs. The two teams previously met in last year’s playoffs with the Pacers ultimately winning the semifinals. In his interview with Michael Cole and Pat McAfee, Haliburtion compared the rivalry between the two teams to the feud between The Rock and Steve Austin in the 1990s.

Three more DLC packs are slated for release during the course of 2025 featuring stars such as New Jack, Bull Nakano, Penta, Jordynne Grace, D’Lo Brown, Billy Gunn, Jesse Ventura, Sid Justice, and more.

WWE 2K25 review: Head of the Table

Since the soft reboot of sorts for 2K Games and Visual Concepts’ WWE 2K series with WWE 2K22, the perennial WWE franchise has seen its share of improvements each year. Last year’s 2K24 was arguably the best of the recent games, and now this year’s installment looks to take that crown with gusto. I can safely say that WWE 2K25 does that with relative ease, although there is a rather large Island-shaped elephant in the room that does need to be addressed.

Gameplay-wise, WWE 2K25 retains the controls that have been the mainstay of the franchise since its reboot and refines them with some small additions like the return of chain wrestling sequences at the start of matches and high-risk maneuvers from the barricade. An overhaul of the ladder match minigame and ladder finishers also help make that match feel a bit more exciting than in previous years. Small quality of life additions such as the ability to disable Instant Recoveries, Possum Attacks, Quick Escapes, and Possum Pins are also very much welcomed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9Y8tw3zv44

WWE 2K25 features a roster of nearly 300 wrestlers, which include unlockables from Showcase and MyRise mode. The roster spans generations, from current stars like Seth Rollins and Bianca Belair, legends of the past such as the Wild Samoans and Andre the Giant, and the future stars of tomorrow like Je’Von Evans and Sol Ruca. Of course, there’s future DLC packs that’ll add more to this already massive roster, with Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, the Motor City Machine Guns, TNA’s Abyss, and even New Jack all teased for future release.

One of the most-requested features for many years has been intergender matches, and this year’s WWE title delivers on that front in spades. Women wrestlers can now mix it up in nearly every match against male opponents with impunity, and it should give would-be bookers a lot more freedom in building the dream matches they’ve always wanted. Want to finally have Rhea Ripley get her revenge on Dominik Mysterio in a No Holds Barred match or replicate Chyna’s run as Intercontinental Champion? in WWE 2K25, you most certainly can.

Two new match types make their debut in the form of Underground and Bloodline Rules matches. The former is a brawl inside a ring without ropes as popularized on NXT programming where the only way to win is to knock your opponent out or make them submit. The latter is the match type from WrestleMania 40’s Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns main event match where there are no disqualifications and run-ins can be triggered after filling up your special meter. With up to three “Bloodline Run-Ins” per side, this kind of match easily turns into chaotic fun when everyone gets involved.

New Backstage Brawl environments round out the gameplay additions, with the infamous NXT Parking Lot now available for your fighting pleasure, as well as the WWE Archives, which is a treasure trove of WWE artifacts. Players will certainly have lots of fun brawling on top of the SmackDown fist at the Archives like it’s 2002.

WWE 2K25 Solo Bloodline

Visually, the brutality of matches are now more evident than ever in 2K25 with the scars of war being more pronounced as a particular match goes on. Bruises, welts, and blood mark brutal encounters well and should make for memorable screenshots and replays for players. The addition of a third-person camera for entrances and even gameplay itself adds a new perspective, and in the case of entrances, can help entrance enthusiasts get some great shots of their wrestlers making their way down to the ring.

The game’s soundtrack is solid and features songs from Eminem, Gojira, BABYMETAL, Jelly Roll, and Architects, to name a few. Mixed in with the soundtrack is the wide array of wrestler theme songs that you can add to the game’s jukebox so that they play in the in-game menus. Commentary remains great, with added specific lines for particular matchups a great addition for more realism.

WWE 2K25’s MyRise mode flips the script from previous editions by offering a singular story split between your created men’s and women’s wrestlers. This year sees the story revolving around a group called the Mutiny threatening to disrupt WWE as we know it, and it falls on your created wrestlers to take the fight to this literal NXT Takeover. Replay value is encouraged as multiple story branches can unlock wrestlers, items, and arenas depending on what choices you make. It even boils down to how the makeup of your custom wrestler’s personality shapes up to be. You’re given three choices of having them be a brash warrior, a comedic jokester, or a cold and calculating taskmaster. These choices help certain scenes play out differently, as a scheming wrestler might approach the threat of the Mutiny far differently than a comical one would. It’s fun to play through MyRise once again just to see how these different cutscenes play out.

As I dug deeper into MyRise, it became quite clear that the story was clearly inspired by both the infamous Retribution storyline from 2020 COVID-era WWE and 2010’s Nexus angle, but taken to its fullest potential. The addition of WWE Live Matches to proceedings, which allows you to unlock even more wrestlers – most of which are WWE 2K’s own cast of original grapplers – makes sure things are never boring in this year’s MyRise story.

The franchise’s signature Showcase mode puts the entire Bloodline in focus, as players get to relive classic matches featuring members of the famed Samoan wrestling dynasty, change history on some of these encounters, or even play out fantasy matchups not thought possible. One notable change for Showcase this year is the removal of “Slingshot Technology”, which previously inserted real-world footage into cutscenes to mixed results (largely due to the overabundance of blurring), in favor of in-game cutscenes, which makes things work out for the better a lot more.

I found Showcase’s prologue sequence, which neatly recreates the WrestleMania 40 main event as a way to set the stage for the mode itself to be an inventive way to get players acclimated to how Showcase works.

One addition that might be irritating for those looking to unlock everything Showcase has to offer is the timed objectives. Matches will feature a particular task that must be completed within a set amount of time. Not completing these in time will result in unlockables for that match not being rewarded, even if you win. And with how hectic matches like the Bloodline WarGames match can become, it’s easy to lose track of these objectives and get frustrated when you have to restart them again.

Even with that aforementioned caveat, it’s quite clear that the Bloodline Showcase was a mode put together with the greatest amount of detail and attention. The videos between each match, hosted by Paul Heyman, add some grandeur and having the Wise Man himself describe the importance of these matches to the greater Anoa’i lineage as only he can is a nice touch.

MyGM sees the addition of online matchmaking, with up to four players being able to compete to see who comes out on top in a battle of the brands. Universe Mode, on the other hand, brings back promos, last seen in WWE 2K19, as well as adding the ability to host two-night PLEs to make things more exciting. MyFaction now sees the introduction of the World Tour, a set of matches with different rules across several locales that unlock Persona Cards of various wrestlers.

And now for possibly the most controversial addition to this year’s game: The PS5/Xbox Series X-exclusive known as The Island. Its announcement in the initial WWE 2K25 trailers was a source of divisive opinions among fans and with good reason. The Island is essentially a wrestling-styled take on the NBA 2K series’ City modes. And if you’re familiar with those modes, it’s one that incentivizes pay-to-win mechanics as you’re practically forced to plunk down real-world money if you want to boost your wrestler’s stats in a short time. On top of that, The Island also features cosmetic items that can be bought for your wrestler, most of which feature real-life brands, and all of which are overpriced with the purpose of pressuring you to spend on microtransactions to collect these items (a set of Air Jordans will set you back about 18,000 in VC, the currency used for this mode).

WWE 2K25 The Island The Arcade of Tomorrow

Now, it’s possible to not spend any real money at all, but the payout for winning matches against AI foes and online opponents as well as clearing objectives on The Island is so woefully low that you’re practically being encouraged to expedite the process of boosting your stats/unlocking clothing with real money.

The Island’s interesting premise of having your wrestler fight to earn a WWE contract under the behest of cover star Roman Reigns and its window dressing of areas themed to other WWE wrestlers was honestly not enough to grab my attention and I just largely stopped after trying out the mode for a few minutes or so. Even putting aside the microtransaction aspects of The Island, the mode itself feels undercooked and not worth all the hype given prior to release.

Thankfully, aside from creation parts from The Island being available once unlocked/purchased (though with the unfortunate downside of being unable to edit these Island-exclusive parts at all), it’s skippable and doesn’t really require much attention if you’re not into this sort of mode. That said, I do worry that future games will make that even more impossible, especially if The Island ends up being popular.

Speaking of creation, that part of the experience seems to have less of a focus this year. While the WWE 2K creation suite remains the best in terms of character creation, modes such as create-an-arena and create-a-championship have seen less attention, getting little to nothing whatsoever. Further complicating things is that cross-generation creation sharing via Community Creations has been eliminated, meaning PS4, PC, and Xbox One users can only share creations with those consoles while PS5 and Xbox Series X users can only share creations amongst themselves.

Final Thoughts

All in all, I think WWE 2K25 continues the franchise’s place at the head of the wrestling games table for the foreseeable future. The looming spectre of The Island and its unfortunate implications for future iterations is certainly cause for concern, but the gameplay remains as solid as ever and the new non-Island additions to the game do help make 2K25 feel like an enjoyable gameplay experience for wrestling fans old and new.

Pros

  • Core gameplay as good as ever with added QoL changes
  • Intergender wrestling’s return
  • Visually impressive, especially with blood and bruises
  • Underground and Bloodline Rules matches add to the fun
  • Strongest MyRise story in the WWE 2K franchise
  • Bloodline Showcase well-presented

Cons

  • The Island is a huge disappointment
  • Microtransactions in MyFaction & The Island
  • Create-an-Arena & Create-a-Title unchanged
  • No cross-gen Community Creations

Final Rating: 8.5/10

WWE 2K25 is now available for PlayStation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.

WWE 2K25 reveals Bloodline Showcase mode, new features, match types

More information is available about the upcoming WWE 2K25 video game.

On WWE Raw this week, Roman Reigns was revealed as the cover star for the standard edition of the game, and special Deadman and Bloodline editions were also announced. On Tuesday, 2K confirmed several new details about the game, including this year’s Showcase mode featuring “The Bloodline’s Dynasty.”

From 2K.com:

“The all-new 2K Showcase, hosted by ‘The Wiseman’ Paul Heyman, celebrates one of the most iconic wrestling family dynasties – The Bloodline and the extended Anoa’i family. Featuring Roman Reigns, The Rock, Yokozuna, Jacob Fatu, and more, players can relive historic showdowns or flip the script and change the outcome of select match-ups. Dream matches between members of The Bloodline and WWE Superstars and Legends offer a ‘what if?’ fantasy element to settle fan debates and start fresh feuds, in addition to some surprises in store.”

New confirmed match types in the game include:

  • Underground Match
  • Bloodline Rules Match
  • Intergender Match

Chain wrestling sequences will also return to the game.

One of the most dangerous venues in WWE history has also been added to the game. Players can now brawl around the NXT parking lot.

MyGM mode will now be available through online multiplayer.

2K says the final roster will include over 300 playable characters.

Players on current generation consoles will have access to The Island, which 2K describes as “An interactive world made up of a series of areas built around different WWE themes, The Island offers players the opportunity to explore and challenge other players, while vying to earn a WWE contract by impressing “The Original Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns. By completing quests, taking on challenges, competing in live events, earning unlockables, and upgrading and customizing MySUPERSTARS through multiple storyline chapters, The Island allows players to step outside the ropes and “Rule Beyond the Ring.” Available only on PS5® and Xbox Series X|S.”

The ability to cut promos in Universe mode also returns in this year’s game.

“I am personally and professionally excited that the Original and Only Tribal Chief and the extended Anoa’i family are the focus of WWE 2K25,” said Roman Reigns. “We’ve been building toward this moment for generations and I challenge players everywhere to show me and my Wiseman, Paul Heyman, what they’ve got, and prove they’re worthy of the attention of their Tribal Chief.”

WWE 2K25 expands on our winning formula in nearly every aspect of the player experience,” said Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts. “Our new approach to 2K Showcase and MyRISE storylines really tap into the creativity of the development team, and we’re excited to see our community enjoy these updated features.”

Roman Reigns revealed as cover star for WWE 2K25, release date announced

Roman Reigns is front and center in WWE 2K25.

On Raw Monday, Paul Heyman came to the ring and officially revealed the cover for the latest WWE video game release, WWE 2K25. It features Roman Reigns front and center, with Heyman looking on in the background.

Once the cover was revealed, 2K shared a new trailer focusing on Reigns. The trailer also revealed that the game will be released on March 14 for Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. Pre-orders begin on January 28.

Additionally, WWE’s social media channels officially revealed the cover for the Bloodline edition of the game, with Reigns as the focus but also featuring members from both incarnations of the group: Heyman, Jimmy & Jey Uso, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Jacob Fatu, and Solo Sikoa.

Behind-the-scenes footage featuring Reigns was also shared:

Earlier on Monday, 2K announced that there would also be a special Deadman Edition for WWE 2K25. Those who purchase either the Deadman and Bloodline editions of the game via pre-order will receive all five members of the Wyatt Sicks: Uncle Howdy, Joe Gacy, Nikki Cross, Erik Rowan, and Dexter Lumis.

WWE 2K25 announces ‘Deadman Edition’ featuring The Undertaker

2K has announced a special edition of WWE 2K25 featuring The Undertaker.

Social media accounts for the company revealed early Monday morning that a “Deadman Edition” of this year’s game will be available for purchase. However, further details regarding what is included in the Deadman Edition have not been released.

In recent special editions of the game, legends such as John Cena and Rey Mysterio were featured in Showcase Mode. This mode allows players to relive some of the most memorable matches from their careers

Although an official release date for the game has yet to be announced, recent editions have been released in March.

An upcoming announcement regarding the game was teased earlier this month during the Raw on Netflix premiere. During a backstage segment on the show, Roman Reigns told Paul Heyman that they need a platform for him to be acknowledged on now that he’s the Tribal Chief once again. As they left the room, the WWE 2K25 logo appeared on the door as it closed behind them. Our own Bryan Alvarez would later report that Reigns will eventually be revealed as this year’s cover star for the game.

Roman Reigns teases first WWE 2K25 details for later this month

The first details for WWE 2K25 will drop later this month.

During Raw, a segment with Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman aired. Heyman told Reigns that they need a platform to acknowledge him now that he is officially the tribal chief once more, and asked when could he book that on Reigns’ calendar. Reigns replied with the date January 27, which will be on a Monday. As they closed the door behind them, the logo for WWE 2K25 was shown.

Bryan Alvarez is reporting that Reigns will be on the cover of this year’s video game. On social media, WWE mentioned that fans would wishlist it now for the Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam platforms.

Xbox on social media shared the first screenshots featuring Cody Rhodes, Liv Morgan, Damian Priest, and CM Punk.

WWEGames on X also updated their profile picture with the WWE 2K25 logo.

WWE’s last video game for home consoles, WWE 2K24, was released last March. Our review of that game can be found here.
