WWE NXT’s McKenzie Mitchell and Vic Joseph get married

McKenzie Mitchel and Vic Joseph of the WWE NXT announce team were married Friday in Italy.

Mitchell wrote: “yesterday I married my best friend” in an Instagram post.

Mitchell and Joseph posted their wedding announcement on social media this weekend. Wrestling luminaries present for the festivities included Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green, John Morrison and Taya Valkyrie,

Joseph, 37, and Mitchell, 28, announced their engagement last November.

Mitchell has been with WWE since 2019 following a stint as a backstage interviewer for Impact Wrestling from 2016 to 2019. Although she has primarily worked on the NXT brand, she has also served as a backstage interviewer on select episodes of Raw and SmackDown.

Joseph signed with WWE in 2017 and has served as the lead play-by-play voice of the NXT brand since August 2020. He previously served as lead announcer for the 205 Live brand, NXT UK, episodes of WWE Main Event, and was briefly the lead announcer for Raw from September 2019 to January 2020.

Two members of the NXT broadcast team have announced their engagement.

On their social media accounts Friday, NXT commentator Vic Joseph (real name Victor Travagliante) and backstage interviewer McKenzie Mitchell revealed that they’ve gotten engaged. “Life is fun with you..let’s do it forever,” Mitchell wrote.

Joseph joked that he finally listened to Beyonce and put a ring on it.

Joseph and Mitchell went public with their relationship in November 2020.

Joseph does play-by-play for NXT, working alongside Wade Barrett and Beth Phoenix on the commentary team. He co-hosts the WWE After the Bell podcast with Corey Graves as well. Joseph has a background in sports broadcasting and also did independent wrestling commentary prior to signing with WWE in 2017. He was part of the Raw commentary team from September 2019 to January 2020.

Mitchell joined WWE in September 2019 after previously working for Impact Wrestling. In addition to conducting backstage interviews, Mitchell co-hosts the WWE digital series “What’s NeXT” with Alicia Taylor.

WWE 205 Live results: A look at the Escobar-Swerve feud

Vic Joseph introduced the show, promising an inside look at the upcoming NXT Cruiserweight championship match between Santos Escobar and Isaiah “Swerve” Scott.

The first meeting of the pair, from the interim NXT Cruiserweight championship tournament’s B group, played in full (April 29, 2020). El Hijo del Fantasma, now Escobar, suffered his only defeat in the tournament at the hands of Scott in this match before going on to win the tournament and the NXT Cruiserweight championship.

Vic Joseph provided a further rundown of previous events: the unmasking of Escobar, the formation of Legado Del Fantasma, and other related changes.

The Escobar vs Scott NXT Cruiserweight championship match from the August 8th episode of NXT played in full. Escobar would of course go on to recoup his loss from earlier in the year with the aid of a loaded mask.

Vic Joseph returned to give further context to the upcoming match, mentioning Scott’s alliance with Tyler Breeze and Fandango.

Legado del Fantasma vs Scott, Breeze, and Fandango played in full from the August 31st installment of NXT. The trio of Scott, Breeze, and Fandango came out of the street fight as victors after Scott pinned Escobar.

Vic Joseph made his final spiel, going over the entire card for the upcoming TakeOver.

The Scott and Escobar interview from this week’s NXT played in full.

This show was a hard watch. Showing fine to decent matches in full, that already aired on NXT on 205 Live doesn’t make much sense. Nevermind the fact that this “inside look” was nothing more than a look through NXT’s backlog; nothing from 205 Live even made the cut. One well-produced video package would do exponentially more in building to TakeOver than this show.

Vic Joseph returns to WWE 205 Live commentary team

A play-by-play voice familiar to 205 Live made his return on this week’s episode of the show.

Vic Joseph was back on the commentary team for 205 Live tonight, calling the show alongside guest commentator Drew Gulak. Gulak also did commentary with Byron Saxton for the July 3 and June 26 episodes of 205 Live.

The 205 Live Twitter account welcomed Joseph back to the show and Joseph tweeted that he’ll be on commentary every week: “Thanks to the @WWEUniverse (and @DrewGulak) for the warm welcome back! See you guys every Friday following #SmackDown on #205Live!”

Joseph had been the lead play-by-play voice of 205 Live prior to joining the Raw commentary team in September 2019. Tom Phillips replaced Joseph on Raw this January, though Joseph has remained with WWE since then.

Two matches took place on this week’s episode of 205 Live. Tony Nese defeated Ever-Rise’s Chase Parker in the main event, while Mansoor defeated Tehuti Miles in the opener.

Tom Phillips replaces Vic Joseph on WWE Raw commentary team

WWE has made a change to the commentary team for Raw.

PWInsider reported last night that Tom Phillips is replacing Vic Joseph on the Raw commentary team. Their report has been confirmed by our Dave Meltzer.

Phillips and Jerry Lawler also represented Raw on commentary at the Royal Rumble last night. PWInsider wrote that Joseph is still with WWE and the decision to make the change was made within the last week.

With Mauro Ranallo having a commitment with Showtime Boxing, Phillips also called Saturday night’s NXT vs. NXT UK Worlds Collide special.

Phillips was part of the SmackDown commentary team prior to WWE shaking up their announcer lineup ahead of the show’s move to FOX. Phillips joined the NXT announce team after that and also did play-by-play for 205 Live.

Raw’s fallout from the Royal Rumble is taking place at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas tonight. Liv Morgan vs. Lana — with Rusev and Bobby Lashley both banned from ringside — has been announced for the show.
