Usos vs. Street Profits, Rollins vs. Cesaro added to WWE SmackDown

WWE has added two matches to the card for tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos will face off with The Street Profits in a non-title match on tonight’s show. Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro will also take place on SmackDown tonight.

Tonight’s SmackDown will be headlined by Roman Reigns defending his Universal Championship against Finn Balor. Last week, The Street Profits came to Balor’s defense and helped him even the odds in a brawl with Reigns and The Usos. Balor and The Street Profits took out The Usos as Reigns got away.

“Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins have the opportunity to catapult themselves back into the SmackDown Tag Team Title picture if they can beat The Usos in an intriguing Championship Contenders Match,” WWE.com wrote.

Rollins defeated Cesaro in their two most recent singles matches against each other. Prior to that, Cesaro had defeated Rollins twice earlier this year.

Edge defeated Rollins at SummerSlam two weeks ago. Promos from both Edge and Rollins aired on SmackDown last Friday. Edge said he’s moving on from Rollins and wants to challenge for the Universal Championship.

Rollins seemed to disingenuously congratulate Edge, saying that the loss taught him something about himself. Rollins said Edge won his respect and admiration. Rollins said that — if he wants to fight his way back to the Universal Championship — maybe he needs to be a little more like Edge.

VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida is hosting tonight’s SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown video highlights: Reigns & Usos lay out Balor

Image: WWE

Roman Reigns and The Usos laid out Finn Balor to close last night’s episode of SmackDown.

Last night’s main event saw Balor defeat Baron Corbin. The previous week, Corbin had ruined Balor’s SummerSlam contract signing. WWE teased that it would be Reigns vs. Balor for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam, but Corbin attacked Balor and tried to sign the contract instead. John Cena then took out Corbin, signed the contract, and Reigns vs. Cena was made official for SummerSlam.

Balor got on the microphone after defeating Corbin last night. He said he wanted to face Reigns for the Universal Championship — even if that means that he has to go through Cena to do it.

Reigns said he could understand why Balor’s upset and why he was running his mouth about Cena, but Balor had to understand that Reigns tried to give him an opportunity. Reigns warned Balor to keep his name out of his mouth.

Reigns then threw the microphone at Balor. In response, Balor pushed Reigns out of the ring. The Usos attacked Balor from behind, but he was able to fight them off until Reigns returned to the ring. Balor was getting the better of a brawl with Reigns, but The Usos recovered and got back involved. Reigns and The Usos laid out Balor and Reigns put him in a guillotine choke.

As the show went off the air, Reigns posed over Balor with the Universal Championship.

SmackDown Tag Team title match set for WWE SummerSlam

The Mysterios are getting their SmackDown Tag Team title rematch at SummerSlam.

WWE announced today that The Usos will defend their SmackDown Tag Team titles against Rey & Dominik Mysterio at SummerSlam. At Money in the Bank last month, The Usos won the SmackDown Tag Team titles by defeating The Mysterios on the pre-show.

The finish of that title match was Jimmy Uso rolling up Rey Mysterio while Jey Uso used his feet to give his brother extra leverage. On SmackDown two weeks ago, Jey did the same thing to help Jimmy defeat Dominik in a singles match. But The Mysterios then returned the favor last week when Dominik helped Rey defeat Jimmy.

SummerSlam is taking place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 21. Here’s the updated card for the pay-per-view:

  • Universal Champion Roman Reigns defends against John Cena
  • WWE Champion Bobby Lashley defends against Goldberg
  • Raw Women’s Champion Nikki A.S.H. defends against Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley in a triple threat match
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos defend against Rey & Dominik Mysterio

The Usos win SmackDown Tag Team titles at WWE Money in the Bank

New SmackDown Tag Team Champions were crowned on tonight’s Money in the Bank pre-show.

The Usos defeated Rey & Dominik Mysterio on tonight’s pre-show to win the SmackDown Tag Team titles. This is The Usos’ seventh Tag Team title reign in WWE.

The finish of the match saw Jimmy Uso roll up Rey Mysterio while Jey Uso used his feet to give his brother extra leverage and prevent Rey from being able to kick out.

Jimmy Uso has remained on WWE television despite his DUI arrest from earlier this month. On SmackDown this Friday, Roman Reigns & The Usos defeated Edge & The Mysterios in a six-man tag match when Jey rolled up Rey while holding onto his tights.

The Usos now join their cousin Reigns as being champions in WWE. Reigns holds the Universal Championship and is defending the title against Edge later tonight.

The Mysterios were the first father-son team to hold Tag Team titles together in WWE history. They had been SmackDown Tag Team Champions since defeating Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode for the titles at WrestleMania Backlash this May.

WWE SmackDown live results: Return to touring begins

WWE returns to touring, starting with tonight’s SmackDown from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Tonight’s episode is SmackDown’s go-home show for Money in the Bank. The episode will be headlined by Roman Reigns & The Usos facing Edge, Rey Mysterio & Dominik Mysterio in a six-man tag match.

The six-man tag will preview two of Sunday’s title matches. Reigns is defending his WWE Championship against Edge at Money in the Bank, while The Usos are challenging for The Mysterios’ SmackDown Tag Team titles on Sunday’s pre-show.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defends her title against Carmella tonight. Originally, Belair was supposed to face Bayley at Money in the Bank, but Bayley suffered a knee injury and will be out of action for approximately nine months. Liv Morgan is taking Carmella’s place in Sunday’s women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

The participants in the women’s ladder match are now: Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, Zelina Vega, Morgan, Natalya, and Tamina.

SmackDown’s men’s Money in the Bank ladder match participants (Big E, Kevin Owens, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Seth Rollins) are facing off in a fatal four-way match tonight. The men’s ladder match on Sunday will also feature Ricochet, John Morrison, Riddle, and Drew McIntyre.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

They started with an awesome video package welcoming back crowds. It featured a series of classic moments with fans. They opened with a shot of the crowd.

Vince McMahon’s music hit, and he walked out to a huge pop. He asked the fans where they’ve been, and the crowd popped again. He took a bow and walked off.

Roman Reigns & The Usos (w/Paul Heyman) defeated Edge, Rey & Dominik Mysterio (9:22)

They had a really good match with a hot crowd.

Reigns came out first, so the fans popped for him initially but quickly started booing him. Rey and Dominik got a great reaction. Cole pointed out this is Dominik’s first match in front of fans.

The fans broke into a loud “Edge” chant right before he made his entrance. Edge got a huge pop when he came out. The cut to a commercial immediately.

Jimmy gave Dominik a knee from the apron, and Jey hit an uppercut to take over. Reigns put his hand out for the tag, and the fans erupted in boos. Reigns was awesome playing to the crowd and getting more boos.

Reigns pulled Dominik out of the ring and gave him a huge powerbomb through the announce table.

The finish came when Jimmy caught Rey with a superkick, and Jey rolled him up for the win.

After the match, The Usos jumped Rey and beat him down. Dominik tried making the save, but The Usos overpowered him. Edge jumped in with a chair and took out the Usos.

Reigns jumped in and hit the superman punch on Edge. The fans erupted in boos as Reigns celebrated. He then broke off a piece of a chair, but Edge hit a spear. He took the piece of chair and put Reigns in the cross face. Reigns tapped, and the fans cheered.

Edge grabbed the belt and posed in the middle of the ring.

Back from the break, Kayla Braxton interviewed Edge. Despite making Reigns tap, he has to go into a dark place of his soul. He promised to do whatever it takes to win the title Sunday.

Seth Rollins started laughing hysterically. He’s sure that Reigns is going to win, but he hopes Edge wins. He promised to win the Money in the Bank ladder match. Then he’s going to finish what he started seven years ago when he had his foot on Edge’s neck.

Sami Zayn came out and claimed he should be in the Money in the Bank ladder match. He said he’s being kept out of the match on purpose. He said now he has the fans to support him.

Zayn tried to get them chanting, but they booed instead. He demanded a spot in the ladder match.

Suddenly, Finn Balor’s music hit, and he made his return to a huge pop. There was a faint “NXT” chant. Zayn welcomed him back and then tried to attack. Balor was ready for him and beat Zayn down. He then hit the coup de grace.

They recapped Shotzi and Nox debuting last week on SmackDown.

They aired an Apollo Crews video package highlighting his recent success.

Non-Title Match: Shotzi & Nox defeated WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya & Tamina (3:18)

They had an okay match with a weak finish. Shotzi and Nox’s victory earns them a future title shot.

Liv Morgan and Zelina Vega joined Michael Cole and Pat McAfee on commentary. Morgan and Vega weren’t good on commentary. They kept arguing, which took away from the match.

Natalya and Tamina had the early advantage as they isolated Shotzi on their side of the ring.

The fans broke into a faint “Shotzi” chant. Shotzi fought back and tagged Nox.

Nox ran wild and hit a cannonball in the corner.

Nox followed up with the shiniest wizard for a near fall. Natalya recovered and went for the sharpshooter on Nox.

On commentary, Vega and Morgan started arguing. Eventually, they started brawling at ringside. Their brawl distracted Natalya and Nox used a small package for the win.

After the match, Tamina and Natalya beat down Morgan and Vega. Morgan fought back and posed in the ring to cheers.

Bianca Belair was on her way to the ring. Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode tried to talk to her, but she ignored them.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defeated Carmella (10:59)

Belair and Carmella had a good match. The fans loved Belair and went crazy for everything she did.

They did the special ring introduction for the match. The crowd gave Belair a huge reaction and chanted, “E.S.T.”

Carmella slapped Belair to start the match. Belair chased Carmella around ringside and gained the early advantage. Carmella backed Belair in the corner and beat her down to boos.

Belair did a backflip and hit a shoulder tackle to regain control. They fought on the apron until Carmella pulled Belair into the ring post. She then threw Belair into the steps for a near fall.

Carmella dragged Belair back to the floor and threw her into the barricade.

Back from the break, Belair regained control and hit a headspring splash for a two-count. She climbed to the top rope, but Carmella cut her off. They fought on the top turnbuckle until Carmella hit a hurricanrana for a near fall.

The fans broke into another “E.S.T.” chant. Belair tried to roll up Carmella, but she kicked off, and Belair went head-first into the middle turnbuckle. In an impressive spot, Carmella locked on a guillotine submission, but Belair fought out into a delayed vertical suplex for a close near fall.

They fought on the floor until Carmella hit a superkick. She grabbed at Belair’s hair out of frustration.

Belair recovered and whipped Carmella with her ponytail. She then hit the KOD for the win to a huge pop.

In the back, Otis and Chad Gable discussed Otis’ upcoming match with Cesaro. Gable promised that Otis is going to beat Cesaro later. Cesaro interrupted and mocked Gable and Otis. Otis jumped Cesaro and knocked him down.

They aired a Toni Storm vignette.

They recapped Otis destroying The Street Profits.

Cesaro defeated Otis (w/Chad Gable) via DQ (1:05)

Cesaro and Otis didn’t have a good match. They barely went a minute when it ended in a disqualification.

They showed highlights of Cesaro giving various stars the giant swing.

Otis backed Cesaro into the corner for the early advantage. Cesaro fought back and rocked Otis with a series of uppercuts. Gable jumped on the apron, but Cesaro knocked him off. Otis took advantage and regained control.

Otis missed a splash and went shoulder-first into the ring post.

Otis attacked Cesaro and beat him down. He followed up with the Vader Bomb.

In the back, Kayla Braxton interviewed Paul Heyman. Heyman promised that Reigns is going to beat the sins out of Edge on Sunday. He also promised Reigns would beat Edge to retain the title.

Heyman was about to say that’s not a prediction; it’s a spoiler when Big E interrupted. Big E promised to win the Money in the Bank ladder match. He mocked Reigns and mentioned Edge putting him in the cross face.

Baron Corbin Segment

They recapped all of Corbin’s recent problems.

Corbin walked to the ring, looking sad. He hasn’t shaved in days and had a stain on his shirt. Corbin talked about the bank threatening to foreclose on his house. The fans broke into a “What?” chant almost instantly. He noted that he might have to move in with his in-laws because times are so tough. He started a Corbin Fund Me page and is trying to raise $100,000.

Corbin got on his knees and begged the fans. Suddenly, Kevin Owens’s music hit to a big pop. Corbin begged Owens for money. He pointed out that Owens doesn’t spend money on his wardrobe so he can afford it. Owens snapped and hit the stunner. Big E’s music hit, and he came out for the main event.

The end of the segment got a good reaction, but the rest of it was mixed.

Fatal Four-Way: Seth Rollins defeated Big E, Kevin Owens, and King Nakamura (8:01)

This was a good main event to end a fun SmackDown with a hot crowd.

Back from the break, Nakamura and Rollins made their entrance. The bell rang, and Rollins told the other three to fight it out. He stepped onto the apron and promised to see them Sunday.

Big E then hit the spear on Rollins off the apron. Rollins barely missed hitting his head on one of the ladders set up at ringside. Owens then hit a dive onto Big E, and Nakamura followed up with a knee off the apron. They then cut to another commercial break.

Back from the break, Owens climbed to the top rope, but Big E cut him off. He attempted a superplex, but Owens blocked the move. Nakamura and Big E teamed up to give Owens a double superplex.

Rollins missed a frog splash. Nakamura took over and knocked Rollins to the floor with a knee. He went for the Kinshasa on Owens, but Big E caught Nakamura with the Big Ending for a near fall. Rollins broke up the pin attempt and brought in a ladder.

Rollins knocked Nakamura to the floor and cleared the announce table. Rollins started climbing the ladder, but Owens pulled him down. Owens then climbed to the top of the ladder and hit a huge elbow on Nakamura. The crowd popped huge for the spot.

In the ring, Rollins hit the curb stomp on Big E on the ladder for the win.

After the match, Rollins climbed up the ladder and pulled down the briefcase to a chorus of boos.

Next Week: SmackDown takes place from Cleveland and Rolling Loud in Miami.

Reigns & Usos vs. Edge & Mysterios set for next WWE SmackDown

Image: WWE

Roman Reigns and Edge are set to face off in six-man tag team action on SmackDown’s go-home show for Money in the Bank.

On this week’s Talking Smack, it was announced that Reigns & The Usos vs. Edge, Rey Mysterio & Dominik Mysterio will take place on next Friday’s episode of SmackDown. The match will be the final build to Reigns defending his Universal Championship against Edge at Money in the Bank.

The Mysterios came to Edge’s aid by attacking The Usos during Edge’s brawl with Reigns on last night’s SmackDown. Reigns had told The Usos to stay in the back and that he wanted to handle things on his own. But The Usos said they felt like Reigns was being set up for a trap and came out to the ring without Reigns’ permission.

After The Usos and Mysterios got involved, Reigns got away during the brawl. He watched on from the ramp as Edge and The Mysterios took out The Usos. Reigns then headed to the back as the show was going off the air.

Rey & Dominik Mysterio are the SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Jimmy Uso was on last night’s SmackDown despite his DUI arrest from earlier this week.

Next week’s SmackDown marks the start of WWE’s return to touring. It’s taking place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Here’s the updated lineup for the episode:

  • Roman Reigns & The Usos vs. Edge, Rey Mysterio & Dominik Mysterio
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defends against Carmella
  • Big E vs. Kevin Owens vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins

WWE SmackDown video highlights: Reigns attacks The Mysterios

Image: WWE

The Usos challenged for Rey & Dominik Mysterio’s titles not once but twice on last night’s episode of SmackDown.

In the opening match, The Mysterios retained the SmackDown Tag Team titles when Dominik pinned Jimmy Uso. But Jimmy had his shoulder up during the pin. Roman Reigns told The Usos that they better correct their mistake and get another title match. Reigns had warned The Usos that — if they said they were going to win — they better follow through and defeat The Mysterios.

Rey & Dominik again faced off against The Usos with the SmackDown Tag Team titles on the line in last night’s main event. As The Mysterios appeared to be on the verge of winning, Reigns interfered and attacked Rey and Dominik. He beat down both Mysterios, including hitting them with the steel steps.

Reigns threw Rey over the barricade and then put Dominik in a guillotine in the ring. Jimmy told Reigns that was enough and to let Dominik go. Jimmy tried to get Jey Uso to leave the ring with him, but Jey was conflicted. Jey started to go with his brother until Reigns stopped him. Jey was left between the two as Reigns continued to attack Dominik to close the show.

WWE SmackDown video highlights: The Usos return to tag team action

Image: WWE

On last night’s SmackDown, The Usos teamed together for the first time since March 2020.

Jimmy Uso had been out of action with a torn ACL until making his return earlier this month. The Usos defeated The Street Profits in last night’s opening match. After their win, The Usos went to WWE authority figure Adam Pearce and wanted him to give them a SmackDown Tag Team title shot next week. But when Pearce made the match official, Jey Uso looked concerned.

Roman Reigns wasn’t happy about Jey teaming with Jimmy in next week’s title match. Reigns reminded Jey that he’s “Main Event Jey Uso” now and said that — as soon as Jimmy came back — Jey was relegated to the opening match. Reigns said he doesn’t want to see Jey go back to the point where people are asking him which Uso he is. Jey told Reigns that he hadn’t thought about it like that.

Jimmy and Reigns have been at odds since Jimmy made his return.

It will be The Mysterios vs. The Usos in next Friday’s SmackDown Tag Team title match. Last night’s show ended with a staredown between the two teams. The Mysterios defending their SmackDown Tag Team titles against Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode was last night’s main event. But after an angle where Rey was attacked backstage before the match, Dominik faced Ziggler & Roode on his own. Rey coming out to the stage caused a distraction that allowed Dominik to pin Roode and retain the titles.

Ziggler and Roode claimed that they weren’t responsible for Rey being attacked.

The Mysterios vs. Usos Tag Team title match won’t be the only championship bout on next Friday’s SmackDown. Apollo Crews will also defend his Intercontinental title against Kevin Owens in a match where Commander Azeez will be banned from ringside. Owens defeated Crews by disqualification in a non-title match last night. Azeez caused the DQ by hitting the Nigerian Nail on Owens as Owens was going for the pin.

WWE SmackDown live results: The Usos vs. The Street Profits

The build to Hell in a Cell continues tonight on SmackDown.

The Usos will take on The Street Profits on tonight’s show. It will be the first time The Usos have teamed up since Jimmy Uso’s return from injury. Last week, Jimmy went to Sonya Deville to request a match against The Street Profits without telling Jey Uso about it in advance.

Jey was upset that Jimmy didn’t ask him first, and he worried about Roman Reigns’ reaction. Jey decided to discuss it with Reigns, who was furious that Jimmy made the match.

Also, last week, Cesaro demanded another shot at Reigns’ Universal Championship at Hell in a Cell. Seth Rollins ran out and gave Cesaro a vicious beatdown, including two curb stomps at ringside.

Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews defeated Big E, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn in a fatal four-way to retain the title last week. Big E was in control when the returning Aleister Black made his way out. He hit Black Mass on Big E, which led to Crews getting the win.

Tonight’s show will also feature a SmackDown Tag Team title rematch with Rey & Dominik Mysterio defending against Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode. The Mysterios defeated Ziggler & Roode at WrestleMania Backlash earlier this month to become the first father-son tag team champions in WWE history.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Universal Champion Roman Reigns approached The Uso in his locker room. He asked about their plan and end goal.

Jimmy Uso said the end goal is winning the tag team titles. He pointed out that all of them would be champions. Jey Uso seemed uneasy standing between them.

Reigns wished them good luck. Jimmy walked off feeling excited. Reigns then turned to Jey and told him they’re going to need it. He asked Jey if jimmy speaks for him. Jey promised Reigns that he’s with him. Reigns told Jey to tell his brother that. This was an awesome segment.

The Street Profits made their way to the ring. Ford said tonight is the clash of the titans. He noted they felt flattered when The Usos chose them for their first match back. They talked about The Usos entrance early in their careers. They then imitated The Usos doing their entrance.

Ford admitted they’re facing a different Usos tonight. They mocked the problems between The Usos and Reigns. The Street Profits were great here, in particular Montez Ford.

The Usos’ music hit, and they walked to the ring. Jimmy ran down their history and past success. Jey yelled at them not to talk about Reigns again. He said they posted to Instagram that this is a dream match. He then welcomed them to the nightmare.

The Usos promised to win and then focus on the tag team titles. Angelo Dawkins pointed out they’re not a stepping stone.

The two teams had an intense face-off.

This was a good opening segment. Both teams were great here.

The Usos defeated The Street Profits

The Usos and Street Profits had a really good match. They started at a slow pace, but it picked up towards the end.

Michael Cole and Pat McAfee discussed The Usos having ring rust. They showed Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman watching the match in the back.

The Street Profits had the early advantage. Dawkins dropped Ford onto Jimmy for a near fall. The Usos regrouped, and Jey tagged in.

Ford avoided Jey with a series of backflips. He mocked Jey. Jey charged at Ford, but he took him down with an arm drag. Dawkins slowed the pace down and worked over Jey’s arm.

Jimmy tagged in and had the brief advantage. The Street Profits took over and sent The Usos to the floor. At ringside, Ford and Dawkins grabbed the Usos and tossed them into the announce table and barricade.

Back from the break, Jey dragged Ford under the bottom rope and threw him into the barricade. The Usos were firmly in control. They isolated Ford and cut him off from his corner.

Ford tried fighting back, but Jey applied a sliding chin lock. Ford fought back and caught Jey with an enziguri sending him to the floor.

Jimmy prevented Ford from making the tag. Ford recovered and hit Jimmy with an enziguri. Ford attempted the tag, but Jey pulled Dawkins off the apron. Jimmy then hit a Samoan drop on Ford for a near fall.

Back from the break, Jey attempted a superplex, but Ford fought back. Jey knocked Ford to the apron. Ford recovered and leaped off the top rope. Jey avoided, and they collided in the middle of the ring.

Dawkins got the hot tag and ran wild. Jimmy tried climbing to the top, but Dawkins cut him off. In a crazy spot, Ford ran across the ring and dove over the corner onto Jey at ringside.

Dawkins recovered and hit the twisting neck breaker on Jimmy for a close near fall. Dawkins caught Jimmy with the spine buster. Ford went from the frog splash, but Jey pulled Jimmy out of the way. Dawkins charged at Jey at ringside.

Jimmy then rocked Ford with a superkick for the win.

In the back, Megan Morant interviewed Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. They admitted that their WrestleMania Backlash plan was flawed.

Roode said tonight is going to be different. Ziggler promised they would win the titles later.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya & Tamina defeated The Riott Squad

This was okay, although they didn’t show the pre-match attack. They kept the match short.

The match started during the commercial break. Only the champions got an entrance.

The Riott Squad was firmly in control. They isolated Natalya and cut her off from her corner. Regardless, Tamina wasn’t standing on the apron. Eventually, Michael Cole explained that The Riott Squad jumped Tamina before the match. They showed none of this for some reason.

Riott attempted a pin, but Tamina jumped back in the ring. Tamina tagged in and ran wild on the heels. Tamina went for the superfly splash, but Riott cut her off.

On the floor, Morgan countered Natalya’s discus clothesline. In the ring, Tamina knocked Riott off the top with a headbutt. She then hit the superfly splash for the win.

In the back, The Usos approached Adam Pearce. They were both happy and requested to face the winners of tonight’s tag team title match next week. Pearce agreed, and The Usos celebrated. Jimmy walked off. Jey then had a moment of realization.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defeated Carmella

Belair and Carmella had a good match.

Behind the curtain, Kayla Braxton interviewed Carmella. She promised to beat Belair and end her fairy tale.

Bayley joined Cole and McAfee and was great on commentary. She kept yelling that Belair cheats by using her hair to win.

Carmella had the brief advantage, but Belair fought back. They fought around ringside. Belair then press slammed Carmella back in the ring.

Carmella grabbed Belair by the hair and dropped her face-first on the apron. Carmella slowed the pace down with a chin lock.

Belair fought back and hit a backbreaker. She followed up with a shoulder tackle.

Carmella hit a flying cross body off the top, but Belair rolled through, stood up, and hit a fall-away slam for a near fall. Belair missed a charge in the corner and went shoulder-first into the ring post.

Carmella caught Belair with a superkick on the apron. Carmella went for the code of silence, but Belair avoided it. Belair then hit the KOD for the win. Cole said the Bel-lock-a wins. Bayley then started yelling at Cole and said her name is Bianca Belair. That was funny.

Bayley stood on the announce table and laughed at Belair.

In the back, SmackDown Tag Team Champions Rey & Dominik Mysterio discussed winning the tag team titles and promised to retain them tonight. Rey told Dominik that he’s proud of him.

They aired a SummerSlam commercial with the date 8.21.21.

Seth Rollins Segment

Rollins came down to the ring in a very flashy green and purple suit. He demanded that Cesaro come to the ring so they can finish their feud. Rollins then started laughing. He noted that Cesaro’s not there tonight because of the beating he gave him last week.

Rollins is happy Cesaro’s not there, so he can’t ruin his birthday. He apologizes to Cesaro for not being able to join the festivities. They recapped Rollins attacking Cesaro last week and injuring him.

They piped in loud “you suck” chants. Rollins noted his people got exclusive audio from Cesaro’s hospital room. He played the audio and then laughed for what felt like several minutes.

He claimed that he blacked out last week. Rollins only remembers looking over Cesaro on the stretcher. He had a serious tone and said the fans deserve some of the blame.

Rollins blamed the fans for supporting Cesaro. He then sang happy birthday to himself. This was a typical Rollins promo that dragged at times.

Non-title: Kevin Owens defeated Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews (w/Commander Azeez) via DQ

This wasn’t much of a match. They barely had any time and a bad finish. Owens and Crews worked at an insanely fast pace for their short match.

Michael Cole noted that Owens could earn a title shot if he wins.

Owens jumped Crews at the bell. He hit a cannonball in the corner. Owens then followed up with the Swanton bomb for a near fall.

Crews jumped off the top, but Owens avoided and hit a superkick. Crews avoided the pop-up powerbomb, but Owens hit the stunner. Azeez jumped in and hit the Nigerian Nail on Owens for the disqualification. They announced Owens as the winner but pointed out that Crews is still the champion.

Officials and referees checked on Owens after the match.

Roman Reigns spoke to Jey Uso in the back. Reigns asked Jey if he really wants a shot at the tag team titles next week. He tried to convince Jey to stick with him.

Reigns called him Main Event Jey. He then pointed out that with Jimmy, he’s back to the opening match. Reigns noted a lot changed for Jey while Jimmy was injured.

Reigns told Jey that people are going to go back to asking him which cousin is he. This was a nice callback to Reigns and Jey’s feud last fall. Jey admitted that he never thought about it that way. Reigns said maybe he should because Jimmy isn’t thinking that way.

This was another good segment.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Chad Gable (w/Otis)

Rick Boogs played Shinsuke Nakamura to the ring. Nakamura came out wearing King Corbin’s crown.

They recapped Nakamura stealing King Corbin’s crown.

Nakamura and Gable had a fine match, although they kept it short.

Otis jumped Nakamura before the match. Gable had the early advantage, but Nakamura fought back. Gable attacked the arm and threw him into the turnbuckle.

Nakamura avoided a moonsault, but Gable landed on his feet. Nakamura attempted the Kinshasa, but Gable fought back. Corbin walked down and took his crown back.

Gable rolled up Nakamura for a near fall. Nakamura jumped to his feet and hit the Kinshasa for the win.

After the match, Boogs jumped Corbin from behind and took the crown back.

In the trainer’s room, Kevin Owens could barely breathe but demanded a match with Apollo Crews. Adam Pearce agreed to the match for next week and banned Azeez from ringside.

They showed Rey Mysterio getting ready for his match in the back.

Back from the commercial break, Rey was down on the ground and severely injured. He couldn’t even get up to his feet.

In the ring, Dolph Ziggler said they didn’t attack Rey because they want to challenge the champions.

Robert Roode pointed out that if the champions can’t compete, Rey & Dominik forfeit the titles. Roode noted Dominik wouldn’t fight them by himself.

In the back, Dominik said Rey fought for him a week ago, so he’s going to fight alone. Dominik then walked to the ring to compete in the match without a partner.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions Dominik Mysterio defeated Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode to retain the titles

They had a fun match and told a good story, although it had a distraction finish. They started at a slow pace, but it picked up towards the end.

On commentary, Micahel Cole and Pat McAfee wondered if Ziggler and Roode jumped Rey. They both admitted it could have been someone else.

Dominik attacked the heels at the bell. Ziggler quickly recovered and hit a superkick to take over. The heels slowed the pace down and beat down Dominik.

Dominik briefly fought back, but Roode rocked him with a back elbow. Roode missed a knee drop. Dominik crawled to his corner, but there’s nobody to tag.

Ziggler jumped Dominik and dragged his face against the top rope. He followed up with a neck breaker for a near all. Dominik fought back and sent the heels to the floor. He followed up with a plancha wiping them both out.

Dominik jumped off the top rope, but Ziggler avoided it. Dominik went for the 619, but Roode grabbed his leg. Dominik knocked down Roode and went from the 619 again. Ziggler avoided the 619 and hit the famouser for a near fall.

Roode and Ziggler hit a neckbreaker/powerbomb combo for a near fall. Roode put Dominik on his shoulders and went to tag Ziggler.

Suddenly, Rey Mysterio’s music hit, and he walked to the ring. Ziggler was distracted. Dominik took advantage and rolled up Roode for the win.

After the match, The Usos walked to the ring and had a face-off with The Mysterios. Romain Reigns watched from the back and seemed disappointed as the screen faded to black.

Next Week: Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews defends against Kevin Owens with Commander Azeez banned from ringside. SmackDown Tag Team Champions Rey & Dominik Mysterio defend against The Usos.

The Usos vs. The Street Profits set for next week’s WWE SmackDown

The Usos are returning to tag team action next week.

WWE has announced that The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) will face The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) on SmackDown next Friday. It will be the first time The Usos have teamed together since March 2020. Jimmy suffered a torn ACL during the tapings for WrestleMania 36 last year.

Jimmy made his return to WWE television on SmackDown two weeks ago. He returned to the ring by losing to Cesaro by disqualification last Friday.

In storyline, Jimmy has been at odds with Roman Reigns since telling Reigns two weeks ago that Reigns wasn’t going to disrespect him the way that he disrespects Jey Uso. Jimmy has been trying to get Jey to focus on teaming together again instead of backing up Reigns.

Jimmy went to WWE authority figure Sonya Deville on SmackDown tonight and had next week’s tag team match made without telling Jey about it beforehand. When Deville asked if Jimmy had checked with Jey about it, Jimmy said he wouldn’t be in her office if he didn’t know that Jey had his back.

Jey wasn’t happy that Jimmy had the tag match made without telling him first. Jimmy said he was looking out for Jey. Jimmy told Jey that it isn’t about Reigns — it’s about them. Jey said he owed it to Reigns to tell him about the match.

When Jey was speaking with Reigns about the tag match, Reigns took exception to Jey referring to The Usos as “we.” Reigns said “we” is Reigns and Jey. Reigns told Jey not to forget that everything they do represents their family and each other.

This will be the first time The Usos and The Street Profits have ever faced each other.

Jimmy Uso returns to WWE TV on SmackDown

Jimmy Uso made his return to WWE tonight on SmackDown, confronting Roman Reigns over his recent attitude.

He returned at the start of tonight’s show, being introduced by Reigns, who said he would “replace” the banished Daniel Bryan. Later, after being confronted about playing a part in Cesaro scoring a match against Reigns at WrestleMania Backlash, Jimmy refused to be told down to, saying he wasn’t Roman’s bitch. At the end of the show, Jimmy brought up being attacked by Roman Reigns last year at Hell in a Cell. After Roman gave him an ultimatum to fall in line or go home, Cesaro attacked Reigns and Jey. Although he interfered on their behalf, Jimmy was also laid out.

Jimmy has been out of action for over a year, last wrestling at WrestleMania 36, suffering a knee injury in a singles triple threat ladder match over the SmackDown Tag Team titles that also featured John Morrison and Kofi Kingston. This allowed Jey Uso to branch out as a singles wrestler, first feuding with Roman Reigns upon his return from a hiatus and later joining his side after accepting him as the “head of the table”.

WWE’s Jimmy Uso out 6-to-9 months with knee injury

One half of The Usos is on the injured list.

First reported by Ringside News and later confirmed by our Dave Meltzer, Jimmy Uso (Jonathan Fatu) will be out 6-to-9 months with a knee injury, believed to be suffered during the triple threat ladder match at last month’s WrestleMania.

It’s unknown what the extent of the injury is outside that the 34-year-old will need surgery.

He and brother Jey had returned to SmackDown in early-January after missing nearly half a year following Jimmy’s July 2019 DUI arrest. Before WrestleMania, they had been feuding over the brand’s tag team titles with The New Day and The Miz & Morrison.

On Saturday, WWE announced a four-way match for the upcoming Money In The Bank pay-per-view featuring the champions New Day vs. Miz & Morrision vs. Forgotten Sons vs. Lucha House Party.

This is the first long term injury Jimmy has suffered since beginning in WWE. The duo are two-time Raw tag team champions and four-time SmackDown tag team champions.

New WWE SmackDown Tag Team champions crowned

The New Day are once again the SmackDown Tag Team champions.

Tonight’s match, a triple threat singles match featuring Big E, Jey Uso and champion The Miz ended when Miz put the figure four on Jey Uso. Big E broke up the submission attempt by grabbing Miz, lifting him up and pinning him after landing the Big Ending.

With this win, The New Day are now eight time Tag Team champions. The most Tag Team title wins within the WWE are The Dudley Boyz, who are nine time champions.

The triple threat match was similar to a ladder match held at WrestleMania 36, when Kofi Kingston, Jimmy Uso and John Morrison faced off in a ladder match after The Miz was unable to compete. Morrison retained the titles for his team.

The Miz and John Morrison held the titles for 50 days, defeating The New Day at Super ShowDown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on February 27.

WWE announces change to tag title ladder match for WrestleMania 36

Ahead of night one of the show airing, WWE has confirmed that The Miz isn’t wrestling on WrestleMania 36.

It was officially announced on today’s edition of WWE’s The Bump that Miz is off this year’s WrestleMania. With Miz out of the show, the SmackDown Tag Team titles will be on the line in a triple threat ladder match between John Morrison, Kofi Kingston, and Jimmy Uso.

It was said that the match will be part of night one of WrestleMania 36 tonight.

Miz & Morrison defending their titles in a triple threat ladder match against The New Day and The Usos was originally planned for WrestleMania. In storyline, the explanation given during today’s announcement was that Miz is out of the match due to being injured during a brawl on SmackDown last night.

It’s been known since March 27 that Miz didn’t wrestle at WWE’s tapings for WrestleMania. Dave Meltzer reported that Miz showed up to the tapings sick and ended up being flagged from performing.

No one in WWE has tested positive for coronavirus.

WrestleMania 36 airs across two nights tonight and tomorrow. Both nights will have pre-shows starting at 6 p.m. Eastern time. The main cards will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern.
