Trish Stratus wrestled with partially torn hamstring at WWE WrestleMania

Trish Stratus went into WrestleMania 39 injured.

The WWE Hall of Famer revealed on Busted Open Radio that she had a partially torn hamstring when she teamed with Becky Lynch and Lita against Damage CTRL on the show.

She was asked about her return to the ring at WrestleMania and responded:

I had a few obstacles, I had a partially torn hamstring, by the way, nobody knew about that, but it was just like, ‘WrestleMania, let’s just go!’

I did not train as much. I’m usually in there, like, the minute I find out there’s a match, I’m in there like every day, I’m putting my kids to bed and I’m in the ring until midnight, this is what I do. And this time I had this injury so I was a little unsure going in but, man, there’s something about feeling at home. Apparently, it’s like riding a bike, as you guys know, when you get back in there you’re body’s like, ‘I got this, just do your thing’ and it just flows.

Stratus’ match at WrestleMania 39 was her first since losing to Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2019. She was back in the ring on the 4/10 Raw as well when she replaced Lita in a WWE Women’s Tag title match and dropped the belts to Liv Morgan & Raquel Gonzalez. Stratus attacked Becky Lynch after the match. She then appeared on Monday’s Raw to explain her actions.

The 47-year-old is a seven-time WWE Women’s Champion and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2013. She’s also been recognized with the Iron Mike Mazurki Award by the Cauliflower Alley Club in 2016 and was given the Lou Thesz Award in 2020 by the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame.

WWE Raw video highlights: Trish Stratus explains her actions

One week after betraying Becky Lynch, heel Trish Stratus was officially back on Raw last night.

Stratus cut a promo explaining her betrayal, claiming that Lynch has tried to rewrite history by taking credit for Stratus’ accomplishments. Stratus said she changed everything in WWE and is the reason that Lynch was able to main event WrestleMania, but Lynch claims everything started with the “Four Horseladies.” Stratus called Lynch a joke for believing that.

Stratus said she sat back and let things slide, but she started to wonder if Lynch actually believed her own hype. When she came back to WWE, Lynch never once thanked Stratus for everything she did. Lita may have been fine with being Lynch’s sidekick, but Trish Stratus is nobody’s sidekick.

During her promo, Stratus confirmed that she took out Lita last week. Stratus said she needed Lita out of the picture so it was clear that Stratus was the person who cost Lynch the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles.

“I am not a nostalgia act. I am not your childhood fantasy. And I sure as hell am nobody’s sidekick,” Stratus declared. “I am the greatest of all time — and I am the single most important figure in the history of WWE. And I am here to make sure none of you forget it.”

The match was announced during Friday’s WWE SmackDown. Theory is coming off a win over John Cena at WrestleMania, and Lashley is coming off winning the Andre the Giant Battle Royal match. He also faced Bronson Reed on Monday’s Raw, with the two being counted out after they continued to brawl on the outside.

Trish Stratus will also appear on the show to explain her actions on this past Monday’s Raw. After Lita was attacked backstage, Stratus offered to team on behalf of Lita. She and Becky Lynch wound up losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodrigez. Stratus turned on Lynch after the match, attacking Lynch from behind and laying her out with the chick kick.

Already announced for Raw is the return of Brock Lesnar, who was last seen attacking Cody Rhodes on the Raw following WrestleMania. He will answer a challenge Rhodes gave on this Monday’s Raw for a match at Backlash next month in Puerto Rico.

WWE Raw video highlights: Trish Stratus heel turn, Cody addresses Brock Lesnar

A mystery attack angle on last night’s Raw led to the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles changing hands.

Becky Lynch & Lita were supposed to defend their titles against Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan last night, but Lita got attacked backstage prior to the match. Rodriguez and Morgan were the ones who found Lita laid out. Though Lynch and Trish Stratus suspected them of the attack, Rodriguez and Morgan denied any wrongdoing.

Stratus took Lita’s spot in the title match and ended up getting pinned by Morgan.

Lynch helped Stratus up after the loss and consoled her. But when Lynch went to leave the ring, Stratus attacked her. Stratus then dropped Lynch with a Chick Kick.

Also on Raw: Cody Rhodes issued a Backlash challenge to Brock Lesnar, IYO SKY became the new number one contender to the Raw Women’s Championship, and Matt Riddle and Sami Zayn saved Kevin Owens from a Bloodline beatdown.

A new edition of Miz TV has been also announced for Monday’s Raw.

During SmackDown on Friday, a commercial announced that Becky Lynch, Lita, and Trish Stratus will be the guests. This comes just days prior to their six-woman tag team match at WrestleMania, where they will face Bayley, IYO SKY, and Dakota Kai. The six women have been feuding ever since Lita got involved in a steel cage match between Becky Lynch and Bayley. Together, Lita and Lynch teamed up to defeat SKY and Kai to become the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions thanks to help from Stratus.

Brock Lesnar will also be at next week’s Raw, where he will meet Omos in a weigh-in prior to their match at WrestleMania.

The updated lineup for Monday’s Raw:

  • Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa
  • WrestleMania weigh-in between Brock Lesnar and Omos

Trish Stratus on WWE return: ‘I love passing the torch’

Trish Stratus says a big reason why she is back in WWE is to work with a new generation of talent.

Stratus is scheduled to team with Lita and Becky Lynch against Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 39. It will be her first match since losing to Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2019 in Toronto.

Stratus told SI.com that she will only return to WWE “if it’s fun” and that she enjoys working with a new generation of talent.

Stratus said:

I’ll only come back if it’s fun. I’m taking time away from my businesses and my babies. I love passing the torch and passing on my knowledge. It’s the little things that make a superstar. Was I the greatest wrestler? I don’t know, but I knew how to make people take notice. I loved that about working with Charlotte. When you hear Sasha Banks or Charlotte or Nattie [Natalya Neidhart] talk about our influence, that makes me go, “Oh s—. I want to keep doing this, and now with them.

Stratus has made sporadic appearances for WWE in recent years. She guest-hosted a WWE live event in Toronto in March 2022. When WWE returned to the city for Raw that August, Stratus appeared in a segment with Bianca Belair and Damage CTRL on the show.

Stratus also spoke about working with Lita and their shared history in WWE.

When Lita and I were coming up, we were a sideshow. But we became a voice. We represented the division and we set out to change the preconceived notion about what women could be in this business. It was not easy. A lot of it was uphill. But we persevered and we made great strides.

Stratus returned to WWE on the February 27, 2023, edition of WWE Raw. She helped Lita and Becky Lynch defeat Dakota Kai & IYO Sky for the tag titles on the show. The following week, Trish challenged Damage CTRL to face her, Lynch, and Lita at WrestleMania.

Damage CTRL attacked Stratus backstage on Monday’s Raw. However, she was interviewed alongside Lynch and Lita later in the show and appeared to be relatively unharmed.

Stratus, Lynch & Lita vs. Damage CTRL set for WWE WrestleMania 39

A six-woman tag team match featuring two WWE Hall of Famers has been added to the WrestleMania 39 lineup.

Wrestling for the first time since SummerSlam in August 2019, Hall of Famer Trish Stratus will team with the Women’s Tag Team Champions Becky Lynch and fellow Hall of Famer Lita against Damage CTRL’s Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY at WrestleMania 39.

The groundwork for the match was laid on last week’s Raw when Stratus helped Lynch and Lita win the Tag titles from Kai and SKY. On this week’s Raw, Stratus issued a challenge to Damage CTRL on her team’s behalf, and Bayley accepted for her side.

In her last match, Stratus faced Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2019 in Toronto. Stratus last wrestled on a WrestleMania in 2011, teaming with Snooki and John Morrison to defeat Dolph Ziggler, Michelle McCool, and Layla in a mixed tag match.

WrestleMania will be held on Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Here is the updated lineup:

WWE WrestleMania, Saturday, April 1 & Sunday, April 2, 8 p.m. Eastern time on Peacock & WWE Network —

  • SmackDown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Rhea Ripley

WWE Raw video highlights: Trish Stratus returns, new Women’s tag champs crowned

With an assist from the returning Trish Stratus, new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions were crowned last night.

Becky Lynch & Lita won the Women’s Tag Team titles by defeating Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai & IYO SKY in the main event of last night’s Raw. Stratus appeared during the match and helped neutralize interference by Bayley.

When Lynch was going for a tag at one point, Bayley threw a tag team title belt in the ring to distract the referee. Bayley then pulled Lita off the apron so Lynch couldn’t tag out. Lynch was able to kick out of a pin attempt — then Stratus ran down and went after Bayley.

After tagging in, Lita was able to avoid a moonsault from SKY. Lita hit a Twist of Fate and went for a moonsault of her own. Bayley tried to stop it, but she was taken out by Stratus again. Lita then connected with the moonsault on SKY as Lynch had Kai locked in an armbar.

A few WrestleMania 39 developments also went down on Raw last night. Brock Lesnar accepted Omos’ challenge for a match at WrestleMania, Finn Balor issued his own challenge to Edge, and The Miz revealed that he’ll be this year’s WrestleMania host.

Lita & Becky Lynch win Tag Team titles, Trish Stratus returns on WWE Raw

New Women’s Tag Team Champions were crowned on Raw after an assist from a WWE Hall of Famer.

Lita and Becky Lynch defeated Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai and IYO SKY with help from the returning Trish Stratus on Monday to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship for the first time.

As Bayley interfered in an attempt to help Damage CTRL retain the Tag titles, Stratus ran in and hit Bayley with a Chick Kick to level the odds. As Lynch held Kai on the apron in a Disarm-Her, Lita climbed to the top rope and landed a moonsault on SKY for the pinfall victory to win the titles.

Lynch, and Hall of Famers Lita and Stratus then celebrated in the ring as pyro went off to close Raw.

Damage CTRL’s second Tag title reign ended after 114 days with the defeat.

Stratus last appeared on WWE television in August 2022 in Toronto, where she also had an interaction with Bayley, Kai, and SKY.

Stratus was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, while Lita was inducted in 2014.

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus returning for  Canada’s Got Talent season two

Trish Stratus is returning to Citytv’s Canada’s Got Talent for season two of the series.

Stratus has announced that she will again serve as a judge for the Simon Cowell-produced show, which will begin filming its second season next month.

“I’m looking forward jumping back into the judges’ chair and taking in the awe-inspiring moments Canada brings of our second season,” Stratus said in a statement on her website.

Howie Mandell, Lilly Singh, and Kardinal Offishall are set to return as judges for season two as well, and Lindsey Ell will also return as host as the show will retain both its host and judging panel from season one.

After a one-off season in 2012, Canada’s Got Talent was revived for Citytv in 2022, and the series was Citytv’s most-watched original series in more than ten years, according to Stratus’s website.

Stratus is currently recovering from surgery to remove her appendix.

Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, Stratus is a seven-time Women’s Champion, and made appearances for WWE both on house shows and on an episode of Raw last month.

In July of this year, Stratus received the Lou Thesz Award as she was inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in Waterloo, Iowa.

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus undergoes surgery to remove appendix

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus underwent surgery last week to have her appendix removed.

Stratus opened up about the appendectomy in a social media post on Sunday night, writing that she was trying to work through the pain on Tuesday until it ended up getting “pretty intense.” She drove herself to the emergency room and found out that her appendix was getting ready to burst.

Stratus wrote that, though she has three new scars and one less organ, recovery hasn’t been too bad so far. She noted that one takeaway she learned from the situation was to listen to your body when you aren’t feeling well.

Stratus’ full Instagram post is available below:

A reminder that if you ever have a nagging pain in your lower right quadrant – do go to emergency…

After a crampy 10 hour travel day on Monday I was working through the pain on Tuesday prepping for an announcement (which I will post tomorrow). I have a pretty high pain tolerance so when what I thought was [poop emoji] cramps but ended up getting pretty intense I drove myself to emergency and turns out my appendix was getting ready to burst – which can be really bad if it happens and like cause death and stuff so I’m really glad I went to check it out, you know to avoid the whole dying thing.

Some takeaways – listen to your body. Dr. Google told me appendicitis was pain in the lower right abdomen, so that’s why it took me a while to think it was that because at first the pain was all across my belly. But after getting another Dr. Google’s opinion (reading another article) I found out it will start as pain across your stomach (also was tender to touch) but as the appendix gets more inflamed the pain will migrate to the right side and continue to to get worse. And boy did it. Turns out it’s an organ that serves no function so good riddance old pal.

Got 3 new scars to add to my body badges and one less organ … recovery hasn’t been too bad so far, definitely manageable. Just wanted to check in! xo

Big thanks to my OR team at @mackenziehealth!!

A seven-time Women’s Champion, Stratus was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.

Stratus made an appearance on WWE television when Raw was in her hometown of Toronto last month. During the appearance, Bianca Belair, Asuka, and Alexa Bliss came to Stratus’ aid after she was disrespected by Damage CTRL.

Stratus has also been announced for a pair of WWE house show appearances this weekend, Saturday, August 20 in Kingston, Ontario, and Sunday, August 21 in London, Ontario.

Already announced for Raw, the Women’s Tag Team title tournament will continue with an Alexa Bliss and Asuka vs. Dakota Kai and IYO SKY semifinals match, plus Edge will take on Damian Priest in singles competition.

Here is the Raw lineup:

Trish Stratus announced for two WWE house show appearances

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has been announced for two house show appearances in Canada this weekend.

Stratus announced on her website Monday that she will be appearing at the Saturday Night’s Main Event house show in Kingston, Ontario on August 20, plus the Sunday Stunner house show in London, Ontario on August 21.

In March of this year, Stratus made a pair of appearances at house shows in Kitchener, Ontario, and Toronto, Ontario serving as the host for both live events. Stratus did not wrestle on the shows, but did angles with Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley on both nights, plus appeared with Kevin Owens on “The TKO Show” in Toronto.

Stratus became the first woman to receive the Lou Thesz Award as she was inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in Waterloo, Iowa last month.

Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, Stratus retired from full-time in-ring work in 2006. She last wrestled at SummerSlam in August 2019, losing to Charlotte Flair.

  • We’ll talk about Paul Levesque more on tonight’s show but this is from Dr. Alex Patel:

“An Ejection fraction is a measure of heart function. It’s graded from I (around 60 percent) down to 4 (less than 20). It can concur a prognosis of no more than a few years if it doesn’t recover at that level.
Him having a defibrillator is because the heart function is so low that he can develop arrhythmias that are lethal (MADIT II criteria – recent heart attack and EF less than 30). It’s designed to help prevent him from dying basically.
I am assuming that the cardiology team thinks that a combination of medication could lead to remodeling where the heart function recovers. If it doesn’t he’s probably looking at a transplant.
And either situation the stress of wrestling could easily trigger an arrhythmia or heart failure again so wrestling would definitely be out of the question.”

  • It should be noted that Levesque has made good progress since his heart scare that was nearly fatal.
  • Smackdown is tonight at the Barclays Center in New York. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns are featured. Austin Theory, Riddle, Randy Orton, Chad Gable and Otis are all backstage. That doesn’t mean they will be on the show.

Trish Stratus to host WWE Ontario house show

Trish Stratus will serve as host for the WWE Road to WrestleMania live event in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, March 25.

The announcement was made in a local advertisement that aired during tonight’s WWE Raw episode.

Stratus had been set to host a house show in Toronto last December, but that show was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stratus is currently still advertised as the guest host for the postponed Toronto date on Sunday, March 27 on the event’s site.

The Kitchener show will be a Raw-branded event, with Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Bianca Belair, Damian Priest, and Kevin Owens currently advertised as appearing.

Stratus is a judge on Canada’s Got Talent, which premieres on March 22 on CityTV in Canada. She is also currently filming a Christmas movie, after having a cameo appearance in the Christmas in the Rockies film, released in 2021 on DVD and UpTV in the United States.
