Thunder Rosa advances in TBS Championship tournament

Thunder Rosa has advanced in the TBS Women’s title tournament.

Rosa defeated Jamie Hayter tonight on Dynamite to advance to the semifinals. The finish had Rosa putting Hayter in the Peruvian necktie, but Britt Baker broke up the hold while Rebel on the apron had the referee distracted. Rosa avoided a superkick attempt by Baker, who instead struck Hayter by accident. Rosa pushed Baker into Rebel then rolled Hayter up for the win.

After the match, an upset Hayter shoved Baker and walked away. Later, during a Friendsgiving segment with Baker, Rebel, and Tony Schiavone, Hayter was not seen.

With the win, Rosa advances to the semifinals of the tournament, where she will face Jade Cargill. The other semifinal match will have Nyla Rose face off against the winner of a match between Kris Statlander and Ruby Soho that will take place on next week’s Dynamite at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia.

Two matches announced for Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite

New matches have been announced for AEW’s return to Wednesday nights.

Hikaru Shida vs. Serena Deeb in a opening round TBS Women’s Championship tournament match will take place this Wednesday at the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts. Preston Vance of the Dark Order will meet Jon Moxley in the World Title Eliminator tournament.

Shida and Deeb have been feuding in recent weeks after Deeb prevented Shida from obtaining her 50th singles win in AEW. After Deeb had defeated Shida, she attacked her, laying Shida out with the trophy that would have commemorated her 50th win.

On tonight’s Rampage, Orange Cassidy defeated Powerhouse Hobbs in the World title eliminator tournament. The winner of the match between Moxley and Vance will move on to face Cassidy in the semifinals.

AEW Dynamite will return to Wednesday nights after moving to Saturday nights two weeks in a row due to NHL coverage on TNT. Dynamite on Saturday will have the start of the AEW Women’s title tournament with Ruby Soho facing Penelope Ford and two World title eliminator tournament matches: Dustin Rhodes vs. Bryan Danielson and Lance Archer vs. Eddie Kingston.

AEW reveals full bracket for TBS title tournament

During Friday’s edition of Rampage, AEW revealed the full field for the tournament that will crown the first-ever TBS Champion which kicks off on Saturday’s Dynamite.

The 12-woman tournament will feature four first-round matches and four byes with Kris Statlander, former Women’s Champion Nyla Rose, Thunder Rosa and the undefeated Jade Cargill earning automatic entries into the second round.

The tournament will begin on Saturday’s Dynamite from Orlando, Florida, with Ruby Soho taking on Penelope Ford with the winner moving on to face Statlander.

On this Wednesday’s Dynamite from Boston, Massachusetts, Hikaru Shida will rematch Serena Deeb with the winner moving on to face Rose. Shida’s next win will be her 50th in the promotion as Deeb denied her that distinction in their recent Dynamite clash.

The Bunny will face Red Velvet with the winner taking on Cargill while Anna Jay will take on Jamie Hayter with the winner moving on to face Rosa. Dates weren’t announced for the other two first round matches.

The tournament will conclude with the finals on Wednesday, January 5th when Dynamite moves to their new network home on TBS.

TBS title tournament kicking off on AEW Dynamite

During his regular Friday appearance on Busted Open Radio, AEW head Tony Khan gave some details on the upcoming TBS title tournament.

What was already known was the field and bracket will be announced during Friday’s Rampage, but Khan revealed that the tournament will feature twelve women and four first-round byes.

The tournament will kick off Saturday on Dynamite with the first match revealed Friday which Khan played up as featuring “huge” names.

AEW announced the creation of the TBS title earlier this month ahead of Dynamite’s move to the network in January 2022. The tournament finals will take place on the first day of that move on January 5th.

Khan again put over Saturday’s Dynamite/college football preview show at 7:05 PM Eastern where Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Taz will preview Saturday’s show and run through highlights from games featuring the top ten college football teams. He still didn’t announce how to watch the show, but it’s assumed it will be on YouTube.

PAC vs. Andrade El Idolo 2 announced for AEW Rampage

A second match between PAC and Andrade El Idolo has been announced for next week’s Rampage.

Their first match took place back on September 8, when Idolo defeated PAC due to interference from Idolo’s then-manager Chavo Guerrerro. After Idolo found out that Chavo had interfered, Idolo attacked him, ending the relationship.

Dynamite on Saturday will have PAC’s stablemates the Lucha Bros. (Rey Fenix and Pentagon El 0 M) vs. a mystery team that is good friends with Idolo for the AAA Tag Team titles.

The AEW World Title Eliminator tournament will also begin on Rampage next week. The bracket featuring the participants for the tournament will be revealed on Saturday’s Dynamite, with the finals taking place at Full Gear. The winner of the tournament will get a future title match for the AEW World Championship.

The bracket for the TBS Women’s title tournament will be revealed on next week’s Rampage. The title was announced last week on Dynamite as a new title in the women’s division, with stars such as Thunder Rosa, Ruby Soho, Jade Cargill, and Skye Blue all expressing interest. AEW Dynamite will move to TBS in January, with Rampage staying on TNT.
