Gresham vs. Bandido winner-take-all title match set for ROH Supercard of Honor

Jonathan Gresham and Bandido are set to face off in a winner-take-all match for the ROH World Championship.

Gresham vs. Bandido to determine the true ROH World Champion has been announced for Supercard of Honor on Friday, April 1. The show will be ROH’s first event since going on hiatus for the first quarter of 2022 to “reimagine” the company. It’s taking place at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.

Bandido was supposed to defend the ROH World Championship against Gresham at last month’s Final Battle pay-per-view. But with Bandido having to be pulled from the show due to testing positive for COVID-19, Gresham instead defeated Jay Lethal in a match where the winner was awarded the original ROH World Championship belt. Gresham and Bandido have each claimed to be the rightful ROH World Champion since then.

Gresham and Bandido went face-to-face at the end of Terminus’ debut event this past Sunday. Gresham told Bandido that the time would come for them to face off.

Gresham is defending his version of the ROH World Championship against Blake Christian at The Wrld on GCW this Sunday. Gresham is also set to put his title on the line against AEW’s Santana at Terminus’ next show on Thursday, February 24.

Bryan Alvarez reported earlier this month that ROH’s relaunch will focus on the ROH World Championship, the ROH Women’s World Championship, and the ROH Tag Team titles. Those champions will continue to defend their titles in outside promotions, with Sinclair having the rights to air the matches on ROH television.

ROH announces Supercard of Honor for April

ROH has revealed when and where the promotion will be returning from its hiatus.

It was announced today that Supercard of Honor 2022 will take place on Friday, April 1. The show is being held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.

“Tickets for the annual pay-per-view extravaganza go on sale Friday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. Eastern/10 a.m. Central for HonorClub members, and Friday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. Eastern/10 a.m. Central for the general public,” ROH wrote.

No matches have been announced for Supercard of Honor yet.

Last October, it was announced that ROH would be going on hiatus for the first quarter of 2022 as it worked internally to reimagine the company. The last show before the hiatus was December’s Final Battle PPV.

Supercard of Honor is ROH’s annual WrestleMania week event. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it hasn’t been able to take place since 2019’s G1 Supercard. That show was held at Madison Square Garden and was in collaboration with NJPW.

The first Supercard of Honor event took place in 2006.

NWA title match official for ROH Supercard of Honor XIV

The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship will officially be on the line at ROH Supercard of Honor XIV.

ROH confirmed this morning that Nick Aldis will defend his NWA title against PCO at Supercard of Honor. The match was set up at the end of ROH’s Free Enterprise show last month.

PCO & Marty Scurll defeated Aldis & Rush in the main event of Free Enterprise. After dissension between Aldis and Rush, PCO pinned Aldis to get the win.

Scurll then cut a promo about his NWA title match against Aldis at the Crockett Cup on Sunday, April 19. Scurll said he would personally write Aldis a check for $500,000 if Aldis beats him. Scurll also said Aldis would face PCO at Supercard of Honor.

That would have set up a match between the ROH and NWA champions, but PCO lost the ROH World Championship to Rush last weekend. That was in a triple threat match that also included Mark Haskins. The finish involved Aldis Interfering and hitting PCO with the NWA title belt.

Rush is defending his ROH World title against Haskins at ROH’s 18th Anniversary pay-per-view on Friday, March 13. Flip Gordon will get a title shot against the winner at Supercard of Honor.

Supercard of Honor is taking place at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, April 4. Marty Scurll vs. Jay White, KENTA & Taiji Ishimori vs. Jeff Cobb & Dan Maff, and Bandido, Flamita & Rey Horus defending the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles against Will Ospreay, Rocky Romero & Amazing Red are also set for the show.

Flip Gordon to challenge for ROH title at Supercard of Honor XIV

Ring of Honor has revealed when Flip Gordon is getting his shot at their World Championship.

It was announced today that Gordon will challenge for the ROH World title at Supercard of Honor XIV in Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, April 4. Gordon got the title shot by winning a battle royal at ROH’s Free Enterprise show last month.

Rush won the ROH World title by defeating PCO and Mark Haskins in a triple threat match in the main event of Gateway to Honor over the weekend. As a stipulation of not losing the fall in that match, Haskins will challenge for Rush’s title at ROH’s 18th Anniversary pay-per-view in Las Vegas on Friday, March 13.

This is the second time Rush has held the ROH World title. He had dropped it to PCO at Final Battle 2019 in December.

Gordon & Marty Scurll are challenging Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham for the ROH Tag Team titles at the 18th Anniversary PPV.

Supercard of Honor XIV is taking place at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Florida and will go against NXT TakeOver: Tampa.

Ospreay, Romero & Amazing Red also teamed up for Warrior Wrestling in December, defeating The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel).

This is the third match that’s been confirmed for Supercard of Honor. Scurll vs. Jay White is also set for the show, along with KENTA & Taiji Ishimori vs. Jeff Cobb & Dan Maff.

Supercard of Honor is going against NXT TakeOver: Tampa on the Saturday of WrestleMania weekend.

Cobb & Maff vs. ROH Tag Team Champions Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham is set for ROH’s Free Enterprise show this Sunday. If Cobb & Maff win or the match goes to a time-limit draw, Cobb & Maff will get a future shot at the ROH Tag Team titles.

KENTA is challenging Tetsuya Naito for both the IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental titles in the main event of NJPW’s New Beginning in Osaka on Sunday.
