Keith Lee segment, Martinez vs. Blackheart official for WWE NXT

WWE has made a couple of announcements for this week’s episode of NXT.

NXT general manager William Regal tweeted tonight that NXT Champion Keith Lee will make an appearance on this Wednesday’s show and respond to Karrion Kross’ actions from last week. Regal also announced that new Robert Stone brand member Mercedes Martinez will be in action against Shotzi Blackheart on the episode.

The build to an eventual Lee vs. Kross NXT title match continued when Kross defeated Dominik Dijakovic in last week’s main event. The finish of the match was Lee watching on as Kross locked Dijakovic in the Kross Jacket. Prior to that, Kross put Dijakovic’s head between the ring and the steel steps and then kicked the steps into Dijakovic’s head. Lee came out to ringside as Kross was hitting strikes on a defenseless Dijakovic, but Dijakovic pleaded with him not to stop the match.

Lee checked on Dijakovic after last week’s main event and had a staredown with Kross.

There was a segment three weeks ago where Blackheart declined to join the Robert Stone Brand and then ran over Stone’s ankle with her mini tank. Blackheart defeated Robert Stone Brand member Aliyah on NXT last week. She ran over Stone’s ankle again after the match, but Martinez then attacked her.

Martinez was officially confirmed as the newest member of the Robert Stone Brand later in last week’s show. She told Stone that she needs someone who can handle everything outside of the ring so she can focus on hurting people inside of it.

A triple threat match between Finn Balor, Timothy Thatcher, and Dexter Lumis is also set for this week’s NXT. The winner will qualify for the five-man ladder match for the vacant NXT North American Championship at TakeOver XXX. Bronson Reed has already qualified for the ladder match.

TakeOver XXX is taking place on Saturday, August 22.

WWE announces Shotzi Blackheart vs. Aliyah for NXT

WWE has confirmed a third match for tonight’s episode of NXT.

During Robert Stone’s appearance on WWE’s The Bump this morning, it was announced that Shotzi Blackheart will face Robert Stone Brand member Aliyah on NXT tonight. Karrion Kross vs. Dominik Dijakovic and Dexter Lumis vs. Killian Dain are the other matches that have been announced for tonight. WWE is also hyping that the show will feature a “huge announcement” by NXT general manager William Regal.

There was an angle on NXT two weeks ago where Blackheart rejected an offer to join the Robert Stone Brand. When that happened, Stone threw a cup of coffee over his shoulder and accidentally hit Dain. Dain then threw Stone against a cart and Blackheart ran over his ankle with the tank she uses to make her entrance.

Last week, Stone apologized to Dain and said it was all Blackheart’s fault. Aliyah then showed Stone a drawing Lumis made that had Stone’s ankle being run over by Blackheart’s tank and Dain being hit with the coffee cup on it. Dain told Stone that if he wants to make it up to him, he’ll get Dain a match against Lumis.

Stone and Aliyah also caused Blackheart to lose a match against Indi Hartwell on NXT last week.

Three matches announced for next week’s NXT

Three matches have been announced for next Wednesday’s episode of NXT:

– NXT North American Champion Keith Lee puts his title on the line against Johnny Gargano and Finn Balor in a triple threat match

The winner will advance to face NXT Champion Adam Cole in a winner-take-all title vs. title match on the July 8 episode of NXT.

– Karrion Kross vs. Bronson Reed

Reed quickly defeated Leon Ruff on NXT tonight and then issued a challenge to Kross. It will be Kross’ first match since his dominant win against Tommaso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.

On last week’s NXT, Scarlett sent a warning to Cole on behalf of Kross. She placed an hourglass in the ring and turned it over, signifying that Cole’s time as NXT Champion is coming to an end.

– Damian Priest vs. Cameron Grimes

Priest defeated Killian Dain on NXT tonight. Later in the show, Priest found his tires slashed in the parking lot. Grimes then drove by and mocked Priest.

Priest punched Grimes last week after Grimes did an interview where he called Priest a loser for not defeating Balor at TakeOver: In Your House. Grimes tried to get out of his match against Balor later in the show by faking that he may have broken his jaw, but NXT general manager William Regal made Grimes still wrestle. Balor defeated Grimes in the match.

NXT’s Nox & Blackheart to challenge for Women’s Tag Team titles

For the second time since they were introduced, the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles are set to be defended in NXT.

WWE has announced that Tegan Nox & Shotzi Blackheart will challenge for the Women’s Tag Team titles on NXT next Wednesday. Bayley & Sasha Banks currently hold the titles and will defend them against Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross and The IIconics in a triple threat match at Sunday’s Backlash pay-per-view.

Bayley & Banks won the titles from Bliss & Cross on SmackDown last Friday.

The Women’s Tag Team titles can be defended across all three of WWE’s top brands. Nox was also part of the first Women’s Tag Team title match in NXT, which took place in October. Asuka & Kairi Sane were champions then and retained their titles against Nox & Dakota Kai.

Nox & Blackheart teamed with Mia Yim against Kai, Raquel Gonzalez & Candice LeRae at NXT TakeOver: In Your House this past Sunday. Nox pinned Kai to get the win.

This is the second Tag Team title match that’s been announced for next week’s NXT. Breezango will challenge Imperium for the NXT Tag Team titles on the episode.

Six-woman tag match added to NXT TakeOver: In Your House

A sixth match has been added to the card for NXT TakeOver: In Your House.

It was announced on NXT tonight that Mia Yim, Tegan Nox & Shotzi Blackheart will face Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez in a six-woman tag match at the TakeOver special. It’s taking place on Sunday (June 7).

The match was announced after those six wrestlers were involved in a brawl on tonight’s NXT. Yim vs. LeRae on tonight’s show ended in a double countout when they fought outside of the ring. They fought to the top of the stage, with LeRae reversing a powerbomb and giving Yim a hurricanrana into the video screen. Nox came out to stop LeRae from attacking Yim further, then Kai, Gonzalez, and Blackheart all got involved.

A mixed tag match between Yim & Keith Lee and LeRae & Johnny Gargano then took place on NXT tonight. LeRae rolled up Yim to get the win after Yim was distracted by Gargano stabbing Lee in the eye with his car keys.

Lee is defending his NXT North American Championship against Gargano at TakeOver: In Your House. Here’s the updated card for the show:

  • NXT Champion Adam Cole defending against Velveteen Dream in a Backlot Brawl (if Cole wins, Dream can’t challenge for the NXT Championship again as long as Cole is still champion)
  • NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defending against Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai in a triple threat match
  • NXT North American Champion Keith Lee defending against Johnny Gargano
  • Tommaso Ciampa vs. Karrion Kross (w/ Scarlett)
  • Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest
  • Mia Yim, Tegan Nox & Shotzi Blackheart vs. Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez

WWE officially confirms signing of Scarlett Bordeaux

WWE has officially confirmed the signing of Scarlett Bordeaux.

Bordeaux was among four names that were announced as joining the WWE Performance Center today. Shotzi Blackheart, Indi Hartwell, and EVOLVE referee Stephon Smith were also officially unveiled as new Performance Center signees.

After requesting her release from Impact Wrestling, Bordeaux had it granted and departed Impact this June. She signed with WWE after having a private tryout in September.

WWE.com wrote: “Chicago’s Elizabeth Chihaia — aka Scarlett Bordeaux — has made quite the name for herself in America and abroad. The self-proclaimed ‘smokeshow’ has been a standout for promotions like Mexico’s AAA, Ring of Honor, and Ohio Valley Wrestling.”

Blackheart signing with WWE was announced when William Regal appeared at EVOLVE 137 last month and presented her with a WWE contract. Blackheart faced Brandi Lauren in a no disqualification match at EVOLVE’s 10th Anniversary event in July, with that show airing live on the WWE Network.

Hartwell is 22 years old and from Australia. Her signing with WWE was first reported by Squared Circle Sirens in September.

Shotzi Blackheart signs with WWE

Shotzi Blackheart has signed with WWE, confirming with an angle that took place at EVOLVE 137 on Friday.

NXT General Manager William Regal came out and congratulated Blackheart following a victory over Aja Perera, retaining the Shine Nova championship in the process. Regal did a promo where he offered her a contract. Blackheart shook Regal’s hand, accepting the deal.

Squared Circle Sirens reported on October 9 that Blackheart, real name Ashley Urbanski, had signed a developmental contract with the company. Blackheart has also listed her final indie dates, which includes dates for GCW, RISE, Beyond Wrestling and SHIMMER.

Her final indie date is with SHIMMER on November 3.

Evolve 138 takes place later this evening with Blackheart facing Savannah Evans. The show will be headlined by Anthony Henry facing JD Drake in a North Carolina Backyard Fight. Cameron Grimes will face Eddie Kingston, Curt Stallion will face Kassius Ohno, Babatunde will face Sean Maluta and Anthony “Sharkbait” Gutierrez will face Arturo Ruas.
