Six-man tag match added to AEW All Out

AEW has added a six-man tag match to the card for All Out.

Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy & Marko Stunt vs. SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) is set for the pay-per-view. The match announcement was made on today’s episode of Being the Elite.

Stunt accompanied Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy for their three-way tag match against The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) and Angelico & Jack Evans at Fight for the Fallen last month. It was later announced that Stunt has officially joined the AEW roster.

The Young Bucks give post-show speech at ROH Final Battle

Going into Final Battle last night, much of the intrigue for the pay-per-view was what it would confirm about the futures of Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Hangman Page, and SoCal Uncensored.

While nothing has been officially announced about what’s next for the wrestlers in question, all of them lost at Final Battle. Jay Lethal retained the ROH World Championship against Cody, The Briscoes won the ROH Tag Team titles in a Ladder War against Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian and The Young Bucks, Jeff Cobb retained his Television title against Page, and Marty Scurll (whose contract isn’t up) defeated Christopher Daniels.

The Young Bucks did a post-show speech last night with Cody, Page, SCU, and Scurll in the ring. Nick Jackson started it by saying that the Hammerstein Ballroom is his favorite arena to wrestle in.

Matt Jackson then said it wasn’t going to be “some emotional farewell speech or anything like that.” He mentioned that The Young Bucks started in ROH over 10 years ago and called the past two years the greatest time of his life. He said he loves former ROH owner Cary Silkin and everyone in the ring.

Matt said ROH’s Joe Koff, Greg Gilleland, and Gary Juster have been incredible to work with. He said he wouldn’t have become the person or wrestler he is without their support, everyone in the back, his wife, and their families. In what appeared to be a reference to All Elite Wrestling, Matt said to the crowd, “Everybody in this ring, all of you — we’re all elite, right?”

Matt said the timer is ticking and something is about to go down. He doesn’t know what, but he hopes you watch Being the Elite. The crowd chanted “Double or Nothing.”

Matt closed the speech by saying they will be back in New York City. The Young Bucks, Cody, Page, Kazarian, Sky, Daniels, and Scurll all raised each other’s arms.

ROH’s fallout from Final Battle will take place tonight as the promotion holds a set of television tapings at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

Video of last night’s speech is available to watch below:

Ladder War match confirmed for ROH Final Battle

A Ladder War match for the Tag Team titles has been confirmed for next month’s Final Battle pay-per-view.

On this week’s episode of Ring of Honor television, The Young Bucks faced The Briscoes in a match to determine which team would challenge for SoCal Uncensored’s (Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian) Tag Team titles at Final Battle. After the match ended in a double disqualification, Sky & Kazarian came out and set up them defending their titles against both The Young Bucks and The Briscoes in a triple threat Ladder War at Final Battle.

In the most recent Ladder War match, The Young Bucks defeated Kazarian & Christopher Daniels and Motor City Machine Guns at All Star Extravaganza VIII in 2016.

Final Battle 2018 is being held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Friday, December 14. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:

  • ROH World Champion Jay Lethal defending against Cody Rhodes
  • ROH Tag Team Champions SoCal Uncensored defending against The Young Bucks and The Briscoes in a triple threat Ladder War match
  • ROH Television Champion Jeff Cobb defending against Hangman Page
  • Women of Honor World Champion Sumie Sakai defending against Madison Rayne, Karen Q, and Kelly Klein in a four corner survival match
  • Marty Scurll vs. Christopher Daniels (for Scurll’s future shot at the ROH World Championship)
  • Matt Taven vs. Dalton Castle
  • Jonathan Gresham vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
  • Bully Ray vs. Flip Gordon in an I Quit match

ROH TV results: SCU win Tag Team titles, Scurll vs. Hurricane IV

Ian Riccaboni and Colt Cabana called the action from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dalton Castle and The Boys entered. Castle talked about his comeback from injury, which included going to Australia and kissing a kangaroo. He called out ROH World Champion Jay Lethal, but it was Matt Taven who responded. Taven — who is calling himself the real ROH World Champion — said he’s the one Castle should be worried about.

Three red balloons floated up in front of Castle, which led to The Kingdom jumping Castle and The Boys. Taven, Vinny Marseglia, and TK O’Ryan all landed a synchronized chair shot to the head of the prone Castle.

Marty Scurll defeated Hurricane Helms in a street fight

The Villain Marty Scurll came to the ring holding Hurricane’s mask, which he stole in their last encounter. Hurricane’s music hit, but Delirious tried to come out instead. It was all a distraction as the real Hurricane Helms, sans mask, slid in behind Scurll and landed a Hurri-chokeslam, but it only got a two count as Scurll kicked out.

Scurll tossed multiple canes into the ring and used them against Hurricane, but Hurricane finally fought back and was able to procure the mask. He put it on and back came his Hurri-strength. Hurricane then tossed four chairs into the ring. Hurricane set them all up and went for a superplex. That didn’t work — so he grabbed Scurll by the cajones and tossed him off the top through the chairs.

After the break, Scurll had set up a table on the outside and tossed Hurricane through it. He rolled in Hurricane but only got a two count. Scurll then went for a satchel. He emptied it to reveal a thousand thumbtacks. However, it was Hurricane who was able to land another Hurri-chokeslam — this time slamming Scurll into the tacks, but Scurll got his foot on the ropes.

Scurll got back up and took a handful of tacks, shoved them into the mouth of Hurricane, and landed a superkick, which he followed up with Graduation for the win.

A recap of Brandi Rhodes’ injury and subsequent recovery aired.

SoCal Uncensored (Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian) defeated The Briscoes and The Young Bucks in a triple threat match to win the ROH Tag Team titles

The Bucks and SCU started it off hot with dives. However, it was The Briscoes who gained the control early as Mark Briscoe bounced Frankie Kazarian’s head off the metal guardrail.

The Young Bucks added a few new crazy moves to their arsenal and landed them on The Briscoes, after taking out SCU with dives. Kazarian and Sky worked together and connected with a dropkick/powerbomb on Nick Jackson. Each man hit an outside-in cutter into dragon sleepers until a pair of superkicks broke it up.

Referee Paul Turner was squished in the melee of the match. Jay Briscoe hit the Jay Driller on Kazarian, but Matt Jackson broke up the slow pin count. The Briscoes got a couple of chairs involved, but before they could be used, Matt hit a spear on Mark.

A chair shot from Jay accidentally hit Mark. Sky capitalized with Kazarian as they hit a combination lung blower on Mark to win the titles.

Christopher Daniels came to the ring, wearing a neck brace, to celebrate with his SCU compadres.

Daniels, Kazarian & Scorpio Sky announced for All In

Though the show is now under two months away, wrestlers still continue to be announced for All In.

Three more regulars of the Being the Elite cast were confirmed for the event today as SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, and Scorpio Sky) were added. Their angle on Being the Elite recently has been Daniels trying to frame “Arrow” star Stephen Amell for the storyline “murder” of Joey Ryan’s character. On the most recent episode, Amell was cleared due to insufficient evidence and having an alibi.

A wrestler was also removed from the All In card this week, with Cody Rhodes confirming that Deonna Purrazzo won’t be able to appear on the show. She’s expected to report to NXT soon.

A match for All in will be announced later today, making it the first one to be revealed for the event since the announcement of Cody challenging for the NWA title. Cody has said they’ll likely be rolling out matches week by week, but he doesn’t think they’ll ever release the full card prior to the show. It’s taking place at the Sears Centre Arena in the Chicago area on September 1.

Katsuyori Shibata named head coach of New Japan’s Los Angeles dojo

Katsuyori Shibata has been named head coach of New Japan’s Los Angeles dojo.

New Japan made the announcement tonight, with New Japan’s English site confirming the news shortly thereafter. It was also announced that Scorpio Sky, who currently wrestles for Ring of Honor as a part of SoCal Uncensored, will be the assistant coach.

“With rehab and training, I’ve been sensing it’s time to move past the struggle of finding what I am capable of doing” Shibata told the website. “These days, I’ve had a burning desire to take on a new challenge… What can I do in my current state? I thought a change of pace was needed, and the next thing I knew, I found myself in Los Angeles.”

“The good, classic Japanese pro-wrestling is starting to disappear from the current wrestling world” he added. “But we must never lose that fighting attitude and spirit of traditional Japanese pro-wrestling. I have accepted the mission to open the gates and transcend the cultural differences to pass down our knowledge to the younger generation.”

Shibata’s career ended last year after suffering a subdural hematoma in a match against Kazuchika Okada at last April’s Sakura Genesis. The last time he appeared in a New Japan ring was at the G1 Finals in August when he appeared in front of the crowd, simply remarking that he was alive.

New Japan’s LA dojo starts their spring camp on March 19. The first session will run through March 23. Another will start on March 26 and will end on March 30.
