*******

Zak Knight defeated Jon Cruz

This was far more competitive than any other Jon Cruz match I’ve ever seen, as this match went on for nearly ten minutes. Knight was in firm control for most of the match and eventually scored the win with the running forearm.

Tony Nese defeated Marcus Kross

Nese cut his typical promo to start, passing on group training to beat on local star Marcus Kross. Nese got the decisive win with a pumphandle piledriver.

ROH World Television Title Match – Kyle Fletcher (c) defeated Angelico

Fletcher took control early with a big bodyslam before mocking Angelico’s dance. Fletcher held serve until Angelico landed a strike combo before scoring a nearfall with an inside cradle. Fletcher cut off an Angelico springboard with a kick, but Angelico avoided a plancha and dropkicked him into the apron. Angelico rolled into the ring with a sunset flip for a nearfall.

Fletcher hit a cutter off of the ropes for a nearfall. Fletcher hit a running boot into the corner, but Angelico reversed a superplex and locked on a La Casita pin for a nearfall. Angelico locked on the Figure Four Ankle Lock, but Fletcher crawled to the ropes to break the hold. Fletcher caught Angelico with a half-and-half suplex, then hit the leg lariat and the reverse Tombstone to score the win and his second successful defense of the title.

Lexy Nair was backstage looking for Dalton Castle, who no showed their scheduled interview. She found him in a rolling crate. Castle said that he hadn’t slept since Final Battle due to Johnny TV’s interference in his TV Title match. Castle was upset that Johnny wouldn’t agree to a match with him, so he asked Lexy to convince Johnny to sign for the match. This was very silly.

The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) defeated Dave & Zane Dawson

The former NWA mainstays jumped the Righteous at the bell, isolating Vincent in their corner. Vincent quickly got to Dutch for a tag, leading to Dutch handling both Dawsons with ease. Dutch hit the Bossman Slam on Zane to get the win. After the match, the Righteous went to do the Misery ankle spot on Zane, but the referee held them off long enough for Dave to pull him out of the ring.

Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty were backstage with Lexy Nair, who informed them that their match against The Infantry was best of three falls. Taylor said that he would lead his team into battle and leave the Infantry laid out like he already had twice before.

Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson) (w/Jacked Jameson) vs. The Boys (Brandon & Brent)

The Boys were battered by Boulder and Bronson, despite their best attempts to battle. The Savages scored the win with the Transformer Splash.

Cole Karter defeated Serpentico

Karter jumped Serpentico at the bell, but Serpentico used his speed to take Karter to the floor before hitting a dive. Serpentico went to the top rope, but Karter knocked him down to the floor to take control. Karter hit a main event spinebuster for a nearfall. Serpentico sidestepped Karter and hit a cutter for a nearfall. Griff Garrison & Maria came to ringside to support Karter, but Garrison quickly involved himself to help Karter score the win with a rollup with a handful of tights. Karter and Garrison beat up Serpentico until Angelico ran them off with a chair.

Johnny TV & Taya Valkyrie were backstage with Lexy Nair. Lexy brought up Dalton Castle’s challenge, but they both blew off the idea in favor of hyping Valkyrie up for the new Women’s TV Title.

Queen Aminata defeated Diamante, Trish Adora, Lady Frost

We got four-way action to start. Adora and Aminata fought for a backslide, but Diamante stacked them both up for a nearfall that Frost broke up. Frost ran wild for a moment, hitting a cartwheel cannonball for a nearfall. Everybody ran through some big moves, peaking with Adora and Aminata powerbombing Frost onto Diamante. Aminata landed a double stomp on Frost to score the win.

Josh Woods defeated LaBron Kozone

Woods scored the quick win with the Grit Your Teeth modified Go To Sleep.

The Infantry was backstage with Lexy Nair. They said that they would get their shot back on Shane Taylor Promotions tonight.

Taya Valkyrie (w/Johnny TV) defeated Robyn Renegade

Valkyrie got a quick win after a Blue Thunder Bomb and a Curb Stomp, which she’s now calling Shania Pain. Swear to god, I’m not making that up.

Billie Starkz was backstage with Lexy Nair, celebrating that Athena was taking some time off. Starkz was focused on winning the new ROH Women’s TV Title.

Leyla Hirsch & Rachael Ellering vs. Brittany Jade & Emily Hale

Hirsch and Ellering hit some tag team offense, developing chemistry against this local team. Hirsch sent Jade into a Bosswoman Slam from Ellering for the win.

After the match, Abadon appeared on the stage and menaced both Hirsch and Ellering. I’m afraid of any combination of these three people.

Slim J vs. Gravity vs. Blake Christian vs. Jack Cartwheel

Slim J and Cartwheel sent the other two out of the ring, allowing them to go back and forth in the ring. Cartwheel hit the handstand legsweep on the apron before launching back into the ring with an elbow drop. Gravity came back into the ring and sent Cartwheel flying with armdrags before locking on a submission. Christian broke the submission and ran wild, hitting the Fosbury Flop into a reverse DDT on Cartwheel.

Slim J ran wild, hitting the diving reverse DDT on Gravity before hitting a reverse Sliced Bread off of the ropes on Christian. Slim J hit a step-up hurricane kick on Christian for a nearfall. Christian came back, tying Slim J in the ropes and hitting a 619 to the leg. Cartwheel came back into the ring and hit a pair of cartwheeling leg whips and cannonballs.

The action came faster as all four men got more and more involved. Christian hit a leg trap Main Event Spinebuster, but Cartwheel caught him with a Death Valley Driver before hitting a Sasuke Special. Slim J cut him off with a reverse DDT off of the apron. Christian caught Slim J with a dropkick before locking on a Texas Cloverleaf for the win.

Athena sent in a video from her wrestling school. She was taking some time off to recover from some injuries, but Nyla Rose caught her by surprise and attacked her and her students. Rose chokeslammed Athena through a door and left her lying.

Christopher Daniels defeated Lee Johnson

Daniels held onto the ropes on a Johnson dropkick attempt, but Johnson hit a pair of back body drops to get back into things. Daniels dived out of the way of a high crossbody attempt to take control, scoring a nearfall with a gutbuster.

After a few minutes, Johnson scored with the dropkick to get some offense going. Johnson hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall. They traded strikes before Daniels hit a flapjack. Daniels then hit the Angel’s Wings to score the win.

Two out of Three Falls –Shane Taylor Promotions (Lee Moriarty & Shane Taylor) defeated The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)

They brawled at the bell, with the Infantry isolating Moriarty with a double team for a nearfall. They set Moriarty up for Boot Camp, but Taylor pulled Bravo out of the ring and hit a knockout punch. Taylor then brought Bravo into the ring and dropped him with another punch for the first fall.

Taylor hit a rebound lariat for a nearfall, keeping Bravo in the ring. Dean got the tag in and ran wild, hitting a butterfly DDT on Moriarty. The Infantry isolated Moriarty, hitting a pair of splashes to score the second fall.

All four men hit big shots to kick off the third fall, peaking with Dean hitting Taylor with a German suplex. Moriarty hit a pair of Yakuza kicks before Dean blocked a bulldog with a knee. Bravo and Taylor tagged in and traded shots before Bravo dropped Taylor with the Carlie Crossover for a nearfall. They finally hit Boot Camp on Taylor, but Moriarty broke up the pin. Taylor caught a charging Dean with a uranage, then Moriarty hit a Yakuza Kick and a lifting flatliner to score the third fall and win 2 falls to 1.

**********

ROH began this week with words from Saturday night from Eddie Kingston after winning the Continental Classic, the Continental Crown, and retaining the ROH World and NJPW Strong Championships. He wouldn’t have believed someone if they told him that he would hold a Triple Crown like his heroes, but he did it. Kingston was happiest to do it against his friend Moxley, having finally scored his first win against him at World’s End.

The introduction for the show now shows Mike Bennett & Matt Taven as ROH World Tag Team Champions, after it was clarified that they were the mystery masked men who won the titles from MJF.

Griff Garrison (w/Cole Karter) defeated Serpentico (w/Angelico)

Griff Garrison doesn’t have it. There’s no emotion or feeling behind his moves, he’s just a guy doing moves out there.

Serpentico kept Garrison flat-footed early on, sending him out of the ring with a headscissors. Caprice Coleman seems to have lost his voice on commentary, which is unfortunate. Karter distracted Serpentico in the ring, and even with Angelico chopping his knee, Garrison was able to take control with a club from behind. Garrison leveled Serpentico with a lariat. Garrison dropped Serpentico with a pair of back suplexes before landing a pendulum facebuster for a nearfall.

Serpentico rolled out of a Torture Rack and fought back, landing a flatliner for a nearfall. The two men traded rolling elbows before Garrison hit a Torture Rack Powerbomb for the win.

Lance Archer defeated JP Harlow

Harlow was upset that Archer didn’t shake his hand for the Code of Honor, so he slapped Archer in the face. That worked out about as well as you would think, as Archer shook his hand before chokeslamming him. Harlow got about 10 seconds of offense before Archer hit a rising knee in the corner and the Blackout for the win.

Dalton Castle (w/The Boys) defeated Peter Avalon

I forgot to mention on the post-Final Battle show that Castle had come out in a stupor, distraught at his failed attempt at the TV Title. Castle was still in a funk here, coming out with a sandwich and lacking his usual pinache. Avalon knocked Castle off of the top rope early on, with Castle torquing his knee on the apron. Avalon hit a Death Valley Driver for a nearfall.

Castle rolled out of the ring multiple times to avoid a potential top rope move from Avalon. Castle then fired up with suplexes before losing interest during the Bangarang, allowing Avalon to roll Castle up for a nearfall. Avalon hit the Marti-Knees to the back of Castle for a nearfall before Castle landed a back elbow and a fully motivated Bangarang for the win.

Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky were backstage with Lexy Nair. Sky said that Page supported him during his run as TNT Champion, so Sky would support Page during his run here in Ring of Honor. Page has full support from his family and friends, helping to make him the best Ethan Page he could be. Page said that 2024 would be the year of the Men of the Year.

Queen Aminata defeated Maya World

World got an early advantage, but Aminata got her knees up on a split-legged moonsault to take control. Aminata ran through her offense, hitting a hip attack and a face wash boot for a nearfall. World came back with a bridging flash pin for a nearfall, but Aminata hammered her with forearms and scored the submission win with the Juicy Lock.

Shane Taylor Promotions (Lee Moriarty & Shane Taylor) defeated The Boys (Brandon & Brent) & The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)

We got quick tags early on between all three teams before the Infantry isolated one of the Boys. Taylor cut them off by dragging Dean to the floor and hitting him with the knockout punch. Taylor followed up with a headbutt on Bravo before the Boys and the Infantry teamed up to take him down and out of the ring. The Infantry hit a TKO/German Suplex combination for a nearfall. The Infantry hit Boot Camp on a Boy, but Taylor got a blind tag in, allowing Taylor to hit the Marcus Garvey Driver on the Boy to score the win.

Griff Garrison & Cole Karter were backstage with Lexy Nair. They were interrupted by Angelico & Serpentico, who chop-blocked both of them.

Red Velvet defeated Alex Gracia

It’s good to see more women with upside getting work on ROH after the announcement of the Women’s TV Title. Both Red Velvet and Queen Aminata have high ceilings, and getting more reps in ROH will only help them get closer to it.

Gracia caught Velvet in the ropes before hitting a backstabber for a nearfall. Gracia hit a cross body out of the corner for a nearfall before a flash pin only got a nearfall. Velvet came back with strikes in the corner before hitting double knees against the ropes. Gracia hit a running knee for a nearfall, but Velvet came back to hit The Mix for the win.

Diamante & Mercedes Martinez defeated Leyla Hirsch & Rachael Ellering

Ellering and Hirsch worked on a blind tag, allowing Ellering to catch Diamante with a senton to take control. Martinez yanked Hirsch off of the apron to give her team the advantage, as they clubbered on Hirsch in the corner. Hirsch hit a cartwheel German suplex on Diamante before finally getting the tag out to Ellering, who ran wild on both her opponents. The match broke down into a Pier Six brawl, ending with Martinez hitting an Air Raid Crash on Ellering for the win.

We got another video detailing Eddie Kingston’s journey to winning the Continental Classic and retaining the ROH World Championship as part of the Triple Crown.

ROH World Television Title Match – Kyle Fletcher defeated Willie Mack to retain

Having a title match on this show gives such a jolt of energy to these shows, especially when those title matches are these Kyle Fletcher showcases. He has a knack for getting crowds invested in his matches, and that investment should increase as his title reign continues.

The two went back and forth early on before Mack sent Fletcher flying with armdrags and a headscissors. Fletcher caught a charging Mack and hit a tilt-a-whirl slam to cut him off. The two men traded chops in opposite corners before Fletcher hit a running back elbow for a nearfall. Fletcher hit bodyslams and forearms to Mack before Mack came back with a lariat and a spinning heel kick.

Mack hit a bodyslam of his own before landing a cannonball in the corner. Mack hit a standing moonsault for a nearfall. Fletcher came back with a Yakuza Kick and a leg lariat before Mack kicked out of a brainbuster. Fletcher set up the leg lariat against the ropes, but Mack came back with a Shining Wizard. Mack sent Fletcher into the buckles with a running Razor’s Edge. Mack locked on a Texas Cloverleaf, but Fletcher quickly got to the ropes.

Fletcher and Mack traded strikes in the corner before Mack met Fletcher on the top rope. Fletcher took Mack down with a Michinoku Driver off the top rope for a nearfall. Fletcher then hit the leg lariat against the ropes but couldn’t pull Mack up for the Hammerlock Tombstone. He changed his tactics and hit a reverse Tombstone to score the win and a successful first defense.

Dalton Castle was backstage with Lexy Nair. He was still upset about Johnny TV costing him the TV Title. Johnny and Taya Valkyrie entered the scene and bragged about costing Castle his title match. Castle said he wouldn’t rest until he got his satisfaction. This was very silly, as Lexy couldn’t keep a straight face around these maniacs.

El Hijo del Vikingo, Komander & Lee Johnson (w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated Gringo Loco & The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)

We got tags in and out, with the lucha team impressing with their high-flying abilities. Things quickly broke down as Loco sent Vikingo onto his partners before hitting a dive to the floor. Drake hit a rebound forearm before Henry hit a frog splash for a nearfall. The rudo team clubbered on Vikingo before he got a tag out to Johnson. Johnson took Henry to the floor before Komander tagged in and took out the big men with double armdrags.

Vikingo and Komander went to the top rope and hit dual moonsaults out of the same corner. Vikingo and Henry were left in the ring, where Vikingo hit the X Knee. Henry caught an imploding rana and turned it into a double knee backbreaker for a nearfall. Vikingo cut off Henry on the top rope, then tagged Komander in.

We got a double stack Electric Chair Powerbomb from Loco, in a move that I’ve never seen before, nor do I think I properly explained. Loco had both Vikingo and Komander on his shoulders, stacked one on top of the other, before spinning them both out for a powerbomb. After a short flurry, Komander caught Loco with a flash pin for the win.

**********

ROH began this week with a recap of last night’s Dynamite. Two unknown masked men are the new ROH World Tag Team Champions after beating MJF, and ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston advanced to the finals of the Continental Classic. The masked men with the tag team titles were added to the show introduction.

Nyla Rose defeated Alejandra Lion

This was a showcase win for Rose, who ran through her big offense before landing the Beast Bomb for the win.

Zak Knight defeated Peter Avalon

Knight looked impressive here, making the most of this opportunity on the big stage.

Knight is the brother of former AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya. Knight came out of the gates hot, hitting a spear before clubbering Avalon with strikes on the mat. After a timeout on the apron, Knight shrugged off Avalon’s chops before pummeling him more in the corner. Knight did the British wrestler misdirection before landing a lariat for a nearfall.

Avalon hung Knight on the ropes before landing a springboard crossbody. Avalon got caught on a plancha on the floor but sent Knight into the ring post. Avalon sent Knight back into the ring and hit a top rope splash for a nearfall. Knight caught Avalon off the ropes before hitting a vertical suplex. Knight hit a Razor’s Edge into the turnbuckles before landing a running forearm to score the win.

We got words from Leyla Hirsch, Kiera Hogan, Lady Frost, Rachel Ellering, and Billie Starkz, with all of them staking their claims for the new ROH Women’s TV Title.

Athena & Billie Starkz were backstage with Lexy Nair. Athena was excited for Starkz to go after the TV Title and gave Starkz center stage to speak on it. Starkz said that she would win the title, with Athena and Nair hyping her up.

Bryan Keith & The Von Erichs (Marshall & Ross) defeated Iron Savages (Boulder, Bronson, & Jacked Jameson)

Quick tags from both teams early on saw the Von Erichs take control of Jameson. Jameson snuck away from a claw attempt and tagged in Boulder, who took down both Von Erichs with a crossbody. The Savages isolated Ross until Ross moved out of the way of a Boulder moonsault. Boulder never hits that moonsault, he may want to rethink that strategy.

Ross tagged Marshall, who ran wild on the Savages. Marshall hit the big Hogan slam on Boulder for a nearfall. Boulder fought off the claw but got booted by Keith into the corner where Bronson tagged in. After a miscommunication between Bronson and Jameson, the von Erichs locked in dual Iron Claws to score the win.

Griff Garrison & Cole Karter were backstage with Lexy Nair. Maria wasn’t here this week, spending the holidays with her actual children. Angelico & Serpentico entered the frame, blaming them for their eight-man tag loss last week. Garrison challenged Serpentico to a match next week.

Taya Valkyrie & The Renegades (Charlette & Robyn) defeated Kiera Hogan, Lady Frost & Trish Adora

Charlette tried to turn the Code of Honor into a hold, but Adora fought her off. Hogan and Valkyrie tagged in, with Hogan scoring a nearfall off of a step-up leg drop. Robyn tagged in and got control after Charlette took Hogan down by the hair. Hogan was your redhead-in-peril, eventually fighting her way to a tag to Frost.

Frost ran wild on Valkyrie, hitting a spinning splash on Valkyrie in the corner. Valkyrie came back with a strike combo, forcing Frost into her corner for a tag to Adora. The match broke down into a strike train, ending with Valkyrie and Adora in the ring. Valkyrie hit the Butterfly Drop and the Curb Stomp for the win.

Leyla Hirsch & Rachel Ellering were backstage with Lexy Nair. Hirsch had no interest in focusing on Maria, instead focusing on the new Television Title. Mercedes Martinez & Diamante came in, challenging them to a tag team match in the future.

Tony Nese (w/Mark Sterling) defeated Joey Hyder

Sterling said that there would be no more helping people get in shape, as this would be the rebirth of Tony Nese. This was a showcase match for Nese, as he won quickly with a Pumphandle Powerslam.

Billie Starkz defeated Vertvixen

After an opening scramble, Starkz took Vertvixen down with a German suplex. The referee pulled Starkz off of Vertvixen after stomping her, making Starkz menace the referee. Vertvixen hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall, but Starkz came back with a spinning heel kick. Vertvixen caught Starkz with a kick on the top rope, but Starkz took her down with a DDT on the top rope. Starkz hit a Swanton to get the win.

After the match, Starkz shook Vertvixen’s hand before booting her, in the same vein as Athena.

ROH World Television Champion Kyle Fletcher was backstage with Lexy Nair. He said that he was the fastest-rising star in wrestling and would become the best Television Champion of all time. He issued an open challenge for the title next week, with Willie Mack quickly accepting the challenge.

Ethan Page defeated Johnny TV

Johnny and Page traded offense early on, with Page hitting a big shoulder tackle to send Johnny to the floor. Johnny caught Page with a kick on the apron before landing a neckbreaker for a nearfall. Johnny rolled over Page to lock on a half Muta Lock, but Page turned it around into a suplex. The two men traded strikes before Page landed a running kick and a powerslam for a nearfall.

Johnny sent Page into the buckles before hitting the Springboard Kick for a nearfall. Page hit a head kick and went for the Ego’s Edge, but Johnny sent Page into the referee. Johnny hit a low blow and went for the Starship Pain, but a still-disheveled Dalton Castle made his entrance to distract Johnny. Page rolled out of the way of Starship Pain, then hit the Headshot to score the win in this main event.

Von Erichs, Zak Knight, Taya Valkyrie announced for ROH TV

Several matches have been announced for this week’s episode of ROH on HonorClub.

Saraya’s brother Zak Knight will be on the show. Knight, who also wrestles under the name Zak Zodiac, faces Peter Avalon in singles competition. It’s his first ROH match since a ROH/PCW joint show in 2015.

The show started with a recap of Final Battle before Athena bragged about her win with Lexy Nair. She wasn’t happy with Lexy’s hesitation at handing her the title at Final Battle and would take it out on her opponent tonight.

The Von Erichs (Marshall von Erich & Ross von Erich) (w/Kevin von Erich) defeated The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)

The Workhorsemen came out to start the in-ring portion of the show. JD Drake ran down Texas and Texas wrestling, saying that they would prove that Texas wrestling was trash. Ross started with Drake, dropkicking him into a tag to Henry who walked into an arm drag. Marshall tagged in and took Henry down with a dropkick. After a double dropkick to Henry, Ross got forced to the floor where Drake leveled him with a punch. The Workhorsemen hit a double team on Ross before mocking the claw to Kevin’s face on the outside.

Ross moved out of the way of a big Drake splash before tagging Marshall, who ran wild on Henry. Henry tried to cut him off with a kick, but Marshall came back with a main event spinebuster for a nearfall. Henry slid away to tag Drake, who landed a Magnum-style belly-to-belly on Henry. Drake went for a Vader Bomb, but Marshall moved and locked on the claw. Henry tagged in and cut off the claw with a double stomp.

The Workhorsemen hit Nine To Five on Marshall, but Ross broke the pin. After Ross dropped Henry on the floor with a Slingblade, Marshall moved out of the way of a moonsault from Drake. Marshall hit a moonsault of his own to score the win for the Von Erichs. After the match, Henry attacked the brothers before Kevin caught him with the claw to a huge pop. Marshall and Ross dropkicked him out of the ring and celebrated with their father.

We got a recap of Kyle Fletcher’s TV Title win in the Survival of the Fittest match at Final Battle.

ROH Women’s World Title Proving Ground Match – Athena (w/Billie Starkz) defeated Maya World

The announcers noted that World was a rookie, having trained under Athena in Texas. World got a lot of offense in on Athena, scoring a nearfall with a snap Falcon Arrow. Athena moved out of the way of a split-legged moonsault and hit the O-Face for the win. After the match, Athena raised World’s arm in approval before dropping her with a forearm.

Tony Khan came to the stage to make an announcement. He introduced the Ring of Honor Women’s World Television Championship.

(There are a lot of women in ROH, and this title gives them something to work towards. I wonder how this affects Athena’s title reign.)

Dante Martin defeated Lee Johnson

These two wrestled to a stalemate to start, trading arm drags until Martin caught Johnson with a superkick for a nearfall. Johnson came back with a dropkick before taking Martin down with a suplex. Johnson hit a pair of clotheslines before both men booted each other down. Martin evaded Johnson in the corner before hitting a big crossbody that sent Johnson to the floor.

Martin followed Johnson out with a dive, but as soon as Martin threw Johnson into the ring, Johnson came back with a dive of his own. In the ring, Martin tried to evade Johnson, but Johnson caught him off of a springboard with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall. Martin flipped Johnson inside out with a reverse gutwrench throw. Martin hit an elevated knee strike on Johnson, but Johnson moved out of the way of a double stomp and hit an offensive flurry, ending with a standing moonsault for a nearfall. Johnson reversed a half-nelson slam into a roll-up, but Martin kicked out and hit the half-nelson slam to score the win.

We got a video from Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky from after Final Battle. Page felt great after beating Tony Nese. He admitted that he didn’t really believe in his own words until recently, because now he’s truly confident in himself unlike a lot of people in the promotion. Scorpio Sky thanked Page for having his back through his TNT Title reign and was here to help Page fulfill his promise to his daughter to become a champion.

Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) (w/Prince Nana) defeated Blake Christian & Willie Mack

Kaun started with Christian, tossing him down with ease. Christian didn’t appreciate the disrespect, hitting Kaun with a dropkick before side-stepping him to the floor. After a Liona interjection, Kaun dumped Christian into the announce table and the ring post. Liona tagged in and sent Christian into the barricade before clubbering on him in the ring.

Christian slid out of a Kaun suplex to tag out to Mack, who ran wild. Mack set up a cannonball, but Kaun powered up into a shotgun dropkick. Both men made tags, and Christian sent Liona to the apron before sending Kaun to the floor again. Liona got in his way again, but this time Christian dove through Liona’s legs to dive onto Kaun. Christian hit a Fosbury Flop onto Kaun, but Liona caught Christian on another dive before spinning him out into a uranage.

Mack saved Christian from a Fall from Heaven but took a Pounce from Liona for his troubles. Christian tried to fight two-on-one, but after Kaun cut off a springboard with a dropkick, the Gates hit the Fall from Heaven for the win.

Tony Nese & Mark Sterling were tending to their wounds after Final Battle. Nese and Sterling passed the blame around for Nese’s loss, with Sterling noting that he had a plan to stack the deck in their favor for the future.

The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) & Lance Archer defeated Iron Savages (Boulder, Bronson, & Jacked Jameson)

The Iron Savages are approaching my least favorite act in the Tony Khan Wrestling Universe. They’re so childish and off-putting.

After an opening exchange where the Savages got a short advantage over Vincent, a Righteous double team saw them isolate Bronson. Archer tagged in and leveled Bronson with a shoulder block. Bronson fought to the corner and tagged in Boulder, who ran wild. Dutch took down Boulder with a Black Hole Slam, then hit Bronson with the Black Out. Jameson tagged in while Archer set up the move but got pinned after Vincent hit Autumn Sunshine.

Cole Karter, Griff Garrison, and Maria were backstage. Maria felt like her song motivated them to victory last week and signed them for an eight-man tag match. The men weren’t happy with their partners, Angelico & Serpentico.

Taya Valkyrie (w/Johnny TV) defeated Vertvixen

Vertvixen hit Valkyrie with forearms before backing off and engaging her in a collar-and-elbow tie-up. Vertvixen sent Valkyrie to the floor with a dropkick before a Johnny TV interjection allowed Valkyrie to dump her on the apron with an Electric Chair Drop. Valkyrie hit the Meteora Knees in the corner for a nearfall. Vertvixen made a short comeback before Valkyrie tied her up in an STF.

Vertvixen got to the ropes before hitting a springboard kick for a nearfall. Valkyrie recovered and dropped Vertvixen with a Butterfly Drop before scoring the win with a Curb Stomp.

Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty were backstage. Both men were frustrated after their losses at Final Battle, with Moriarty feeling like he had hit a plateau. Moriarty decided to let it motivate him, as Taylor warned everyone that they couldn’t stop Shane Taylor Promotions.

Rachael Ellering (w/Leyla Hirsch & Maria) defeated Charlette Renegade (w/Robyn Renegade)

What are we doing here? Maria has no allegiance to these people. Just leave! Don’t manage them! Meanwhile, Ellering and Hirsch look like dopes for continuing to do business with her. I don’t understand any of this.

Ellering held firm control of Charlette to start until she got poked in the eye. Renegade hit a Perfect Plex on Ellering for a nearfall before locking on a Muta Lock. Ellering fought out and hit a pair of spinning elbows and a running senton. Ellering hit a cross-legged suplex for a nearfall. Renegade hit a main event spinebuster for a nearfall.

Robyn tried to get involved, but Hirsch ran her off on the floor. Maria once again hooked Ellering’s leg, but Ellering fought her off and hit a Bosswoman Slam for the win. After the match, Maria mockingly cheered Ellering as both her and Hirsch complained about Maria’s actions.

Johnny TV & Taya Valkyrie were backstage with Lexy Nair. Johnny trash-talked Dalton Castle, saying that he was more of a pigeon than a peacock.

After a recap of his elimination from Survival of the Fittest, Dalton Castle was backstage with Lexy Nair. Castle was despondent at his loss, noting that the Ring of Honor viewers were robbed by Johnny TV & Taya Valkyrie. He said that he would make them both pay.

Action Andretti & Darius Martin defeated The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) & The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)

The tags came quickly early on. The Outrunners ended up on the wrong side of both teams, with both teams working together to send Floyd into Magnum in the corner. Floyd got pinballed between both teams before Magnum pulled Floyd out of the way of a splash from Dean. The Outrunners isolated Dean, clubbering him on their side of the ring before Dean crotched Floyd on the ropes.

Bravo tagged in and ran wild on Magnum, hitting a scissor kick for a nearfall broken up by Martin. Andretti tagged Bravo as he went after Martin. Dean tagged Andretti after Andretti hit Bravo with a Spanish Fly and hit Magnum with a splash for a nearfall. Boot Camp was interrupted by Magnum, with Martin tagging in. Magnum went for a low blow on Martin, but he caught his partner Floyd instead. Andretti hit a running Shooting Star Press on Magnum for the win.

Dalton Castle, Gravity & The Boys (Brandon & Brent) vs. Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico), Cole Karter & Griff Garrison (w/Maria)

Gravity started with Serpentico, space-walking his way to the corner to tag in the Boys, who hit a double-team Eat Defeat for a nearfall. Garrison cut off Brandon from the floor, allowing his team to isolate Brandon in their corner. Brandon fought his way to the corner and tagged in Castle, who ran wild on everyone with suplexes.

The heels quadruple-teamed Castle until Castle snuck in a Bangarang attempt on Serpentico that knocked down Karter. Angelico saved Serpentico, but Karter started an argument with them that allowed Gravity & The Boys to run in and send them all to the floor. They hit dives, leaving Castle in the ring to hit Garrison with the Bangarang for the win.

El Hijo del Vikingo & Komander defeated Gringo Loco & Jack Cartwheel

Vikingo and Loco started, hitting fast paced lucha moves before tagging their partners in. Komander and Cartwheel kept the pace up, with both men cartwheeling out of each other’s moves until Komander sent Cartwheel to the floor with a rana. After a double down on the floor, Loco evaded Vikingo and hit a dive onto both opponents with a dive. Cartwheel hit a flagpole leg sweep on Komander before vaulting back into the ring with an elbow for a nearfall.

Cartwheel and Loco hit an innovative double-team, with Cartwheel dropkicking Komander’s face while Loco had him in tombstone position. Loco and Cartwheel isolated Komander until he vaulted his way to a tag. Vikingo sent both men to the floor before diving through Komander’s legs to hit a dive on Cartwheel. Komander then hit a moonsault onto Loco before celebrating with Vikingo.

Cartwheel avoided a frog splash, then hit a cartwheeling powerbomb on Komander for a nearfall. Vikingo tied Cartwheel in the ropes before hitting a step-up guillotine leg drop for a nearfall. Loco tagged in and caught Vikingo with a Torture Rack Falcon Arrow for a nearfall. Cartwheel hit a Sasuke Special to the floor, but Vikingo avoided a springboard moonsault. Komander hit a poisonrana to Cartwheel off of Vikingo’s shoulders before Vikingo hit the Meteora Knees in the corner. Komander hit the ropewalk Shooting Star Press for the win.

ROH World Title Proving Ground Match – Eddie Kingston defeated Evil Uno (w/Alex Reynolds & John Silver)

If Evil Uno wins or survives the time limit, he will receive a shot at the North American Triple Crown Champion after the Continental Classic concludes. Uno feigned trading shoulder blocks with Kingston before hitting a headscissors that sent Kingston to the floor. Uno went to chop Kingston against the post, but Kingston moved, sending Uno’s hand hard into the post.

Kingston went to work on Uno’s hand and arm, as Uno kept chopping Kingston to his detriment. Uno caught a Kingston kick, threw Kingston’s leg into the referee, who unknowingly helped Uno hit a neckbreaker on Kingston. Uno fired up after repeated chops from Kingston, exploding out of the corner with a shoulder block. The men traded machine gun chops in the corner before Uno laid Kingston out with a short-arm lariat.

Uno punched Kingston in the face before landing an El Generico-esque brainbuster for a nearfall, all while the crowd chanted Ole Ole. Uno cut off a corner charge with a boot before landing a piledriver for a nearfall. Uno landed another boot before going to the top rope for a senton. Kingston got the knees up and drilled Uno with a pair of backfists for the win.

Leyla Hirsch (w/Maria & Rachael Ellering) vs. Katrina Creed

Hirsch got the win by catching Creed with a knee on a spear attempt. Hirsch, Maria, and Ellering all seemed on the same page this week.

The Outrunners were backstage with Lexy Nair, hyping themselves up for their four-way tag team match later tonight.

ROH Pure Title Proving Ground Match – Jason Geiger vs. Wheeler Yuta

I enjoyed Yuta being so full of himself here, forcing Geiger into using all of his rope breaks. Then as soon as Geiger made him burn one, he got serious and tapped him out.

The judges for this match were Jerry Lynn, Jimmy Jacobs, and Madison Rayne.

Yuta forced Geiger into the ropes to burn one of his rope breaks a minute in. After another minute, Yuta pinned Geiger after a bodyslam and forced Geiger’s leg into the ropes to burn his second rope break. Geiger went to catch Yuta in an armbar, but Yuta reversed it into a deathlock. He walked his way to the ropes, then leaned back on the hold to force Geiger into burning his last rope break.

Geiger picked up the pace, locking Yuta in a leg lock to force Yuta into using a rope break. Yuta sent Geiger onto the apron, then locked on a guillotine submission in the ropes to score the submission win.

Dalton Castle & The Boys (Brandon & Brent) defeated Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson) & Jacked Jameson

Castle and The Boys started by keeping Bronson off of his feet. Boulder tagged in and double-suplexed The Boys to give the Savages control. The Savages used their strength to keep one of the Boys in their corner as Castle stole the Savage Sauce and drank some to get fired up.

Castle eventually got the tag and ran wild, hitting a delayed German suplex on the big man Boulder before suplexing all of the Savages. Boulder got a hold of both Boys and Castle, sending them flying with a double Samoan drop/fallaway slam combination. Castle sent all of the Savages to the floor before flinging the Boys at them on the floor. Castle hit the Bangarang on Jameson for the win.

After the match, Johnny TV came to the stage and threatened to come to the ring before leaving again.

The Butcher and The Blade were backstage. They used to be motivated by money, but now they want tag team gold.

Taya Valkyrie (w/Johnny TV) defeated Rachael Ellering (w/Leyla Hirsch & Maria)

Ellering was in control early on until Johnny TV got in her way on the floor, allowing Valkyrie to send Ellering into the ring post. Valkyrie clubbered on Ellering, dropping her with a sliding German suplex through the ropes. Ellering avoided a corner charge and ran wild, scoring a nearfall with a TKO.

Valkyrie came back by sending Ellering into the corner and hitting the running knees for a nearfall. Valkyrie hit a spear before hitting a curb stomp for the win. Hirsch and Maria weren’t impressed.

Ethan Page spoke in a video from last week’s Collision after his loss to Kenny Omega. He didn’t expect to walk into the Omega match with bruised ribs from the Tony Nese attack from last week. He couldn’t focus on what happened in the Omega match because he had to look ahead to Final Battle. He lost to Kenny Omega, but he didn’t quit. He refused to say I Quit at Final Battle before Nese barged in. Referees kept them separated.

Cole Karter & Griff Garrison (w/Maria) defeated Bobby Sharp & Shaun Moore

Karter and Garrison got the quick win after Garrison hit Moore with a rolling elbow after a jumping knee.

The Workhorsemen were backstage with Lexy Nair, who hyped themselves up for the four-way tag match tonight.

Shane Taylor (w/Lee Moriarty) defeated Channing Decker

Decker got a bit of offense in with a cannonball in the corner, but Taylor dominated this match and won with the Marcus Garvey Driver.

We got a video package on the Survival of the Fittest match for the ROH Television Title at Final Battle, where it was announced that the sixth man will be revealed at Final Battle.

The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) defeated Australian Takeover (Julian Ward & Kaz Jordan)

Ward and Jordan worked to keep Vincent off of his feet before Vincent got Jordan isolated in his corner. Vincent and Dutch clubbered on Jordan and took out Ward on the outside. Vincent hit Autumn Sunshine for the win.

The Infantry were backstage with Lexy Nair. Wanna guess what happened? Why yes, they hyped themselves up for the four-way tag match tonight! Good job!

Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana) defeated Gravity

Cage blocked a hurricanrana, but Gravity low-bridged him to the apron and sent him to the floor. Gravity went for a dive, but Cage shut him down with a kick to the head. Cage hit a big release German suplex for a nearfall. Cage hit a powerslam out of a Gorilla Press for a nearfall.

Gravity came back by avoiding a corner charge, then hitting a hurricanrana that sent Cage to the floor. Gravity hit a top rope moonsault to Cage on the floor. Cage avoided a 450 splash and slammed Gravity out of a wheelbarrow attempt for a nearfall. Gravity cut off a superplex attempt, hitting Cage with a crucifix bomb for a nearfall.

Cage hit Gravity with a reverse suplex variant that I’ve never seen before for a nearfall. Gravity got Cage up to hit a Death Valley Driver before landing the Spaceman Splash for a nearfall. Cage hit a pop-up powerbomb, then locked on a Cloverleaf for the submission win.

Leyla Hirsch was backstage helping up Rachel Ellering when Maria came in. Maria downplayed Ellering’s loss while talking up Hirsch’s win. Hirsch left with Maria, but not before telling Ellering to keep her head up.

The Butcher and The Blade defeat The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake), The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd), & The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)

The Outrunners and the Infantry started off, as they caught Magnum with a double-team. Magnum tagged Henry in, who walked into a double hip toss. Henry baited Bravo into a chase that allowed Drake to hit a neckbreaker. Butcher tagged in, and the two big men chopped each other until the Butcher took Drake down with a forearm. Butcher and the Blade double-teamed Drake until the Outrunners tagged in and took down Blade.

More quick tags happened until the match devolved into a Pier Six brawl. The Outrunners had the Blade isolated but took too long to showboat. That allowed the Butcher to come in, knock out Floyd, and help Blade hit Drag The Lake for the win.

ROH Women’s World Title Proving Ground Match – Athena defeated Roxanne

This is where Athena broke her nose, and it just so happens to fit the story going on. Athena created a monster that could take her down and take her title. To be clear, I don’t think the injury was worked. Athena was pouring blood from her nose at ringside. I think they were going to repeat the post-match brawl from last week and just cut it off early. But, for the story they’re trying to tell, it was a lucky break.

Athena knocked Roxanne out with a forearm to score the immediate win.

After the match, Billie Starkz attacked Athena and stomped on her in the corner. They brawled on the floor where Starkz sent Athena into the barricade. Starkz stood tall with the Women’s World Title as Athena had blood pouring from her nose at ringside.

ROH started with Women’s Champion Athena alongside Billie Starkz and Lexy Nair. She told Starkz that she embarrassed her last week with her loss and that she had the chance to make things right tonight with a win against Marina Shafir. After dismissing Starkz, Athena turned her attention to Eddie Kingston. She took issue with the ROH World Champion saying that certain champions weren’t carrying their weight in the company, as she had been carrying the show on her back since she became champion. Athena wanted everyone to show her the proper respect.

Proving Ground Match – Eddie Kingston defeated Lee Johnson

It’s noted that if Johnson wins, he will get a match against the Triple Crown Champion after the Continental Classic concludes. Johnson caught Kingston with a dropkick that threw him off balance, but Kingston came back with a Magnum-style belly-to-belly for a nearfall. Johnson slid through Kingston’s legs before hitting a pendulum DDT to create space.

Johnson hit Kingston with a power slam for a nearfall. Kingston drilled Johnson with elbows before a pair of overhead suplexes scored a nearfall. Johnson ducked a backfist and hit an acrobatic neckbreaker for a nearfall.

Johnson hit a frog splash for a nearfall before hitting a Blue Thunder Bomb for another nearfall. Kingston hit another suplex before landing the backfist for the win.

The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) defeated The Boys (Brandon & Brent)

As the Boys now wear Mardi Gras masks, it becomes even harder to tell them apart. They double-teamed Bravo, scoring a nearfall after a backstabber. Dean tagged in, but the Boys kept control of him with quick offense. Bravo got a tag in, allowing The Infantry to take control.

After a few minutes, the Boy got a tag out to the fresh Boy, who ran wild on Dean. The Infantry came back quickly, scoring the win with Boot Camp.

Rachel Ellering was backstage with Lexy Nair. Ellering brought up Leyla Hirsch’s knee injury, which brought in Maria, who noted that Hirsch was doing well. Ellering asked what Maria was doing when she spoke to the Renegade Sisters last week when Hirsch walked in. Hirsch also asked about Maria’s conversation, with Maria blowing it off. Hirsch wanted to know if she’d have her back tonight, with both Maria and Ellering saying yes.

Emi Sakura defeated Trish Adora

After avoiding a stretch by the hair, Adora hit a Bubba Bomb on Sakura. Sakura slipped out of a submission attempt and laid in the chops to Adora, but Adora came back with a pump kick for a nearfall. Adora hit a lariat that sent Sakura to the ropes. Sakura fought out of a German suplex attempt before hitting a German of her own for a nearfall. Sakura hit a butterfly backbreaker to score the win.

Leyla Hirsch (w/Maria & Rachel Ellering) defeated Heather Reckless

Does Hirsch want Maria’s help or not? Let’s get to the next step of this story here.

Hirsch noted her height advantage before taking Reckless down with a shoulder block. Hirsch flung Reckless around with suplexes and gutwrenches before running into an uppercut. Hirsch countered a neckbreaker into a cross-arm breaker to score the submission win. After the match, Maria went to give a handshake but Hirsch blew her off again.

Willie Mack defeated Robert Anthony

Mack scored a quick win, hitting a powerbomb after catching a crossbody attempt.

Billie Starkz defeated Marina Shafir

Between the crowd not being into it and Shafir’s style making for a tough matchup, this was rough.

Starkz piefaced Shafir when Shafir wouldn’t let go of the handshake at the start of the match. Starkz stalled outside of the ring, giving her best Larry Zbyszko impression. Shafir got her hands on Starkz and threw her around. Starkz sent Shafir to the floor, but Shafir caught her dive and flung her into the barricade.

They battled on the floor, with Starkz hitting a suplex on the floor. Starkz set up a Swanton Bomb in the ring, but Shafir cut her off. Starkz hit a rebound kick instead, following with a bridging German suplex for a nearfall. Starkz taunted Shafir with kicks before Shafir caught the foot. They scrambled before Starkz hit a forearm that knocked Shafir down. Shafir dropped Starkz and laid her out with a kick for a nearfall.

Shafir dropped Starkz with a lariat. The two traded strikes before Shafir fired up with forearms. Shafir laid in kicks before tying Starkz up with a submission. Starkz pushed Shafir to the floor and hit a dive. Shafir got her knees up on a Swanton attempt before hitting a powerbomb for a nearfall. Starkz hit a Gory Bomb before hitting the Swanton for a nearfall. Starkz hit a spin kick before hitting the Star-Ten for the win.

After the match, Starkz jumped Shafir after the bell and sent her out of the ring. Athena and Lexy Nair came out with a cap and gown for Starkz. After giving a speech, she made sure to name Nair the valedictorian of the Minion In Training Class of 2023, to the disappointment of Starkz. Nair gave an acceptance speech before Athena signed off. Starkz bowed up to Athena but relented and left the ring. They posed on the ramp before Starkz turned on Athena, sending her into the barricade and standing over her with the title.

(I could personally do without the NXT-style graduation segment, but this was effective in getting the split done.)

Survival of the Fittest Qualifying Match – Dalton Castle (w/Brandon & Brent) defeated Evil Uno (w/Negative One)

The two traded lariat attempts in the corner, missing them all until Uno landed a chop to send Castle to the floor. Castle spent some time recovering on the floor before getting back in the ring. Castle teased a chop before taking Uno down with an ankle pick. Castle hit a pair of splashes before Uno bailed to the floor. Uno threw Castle around at ringside before clubbering on Castle in the ring.

Castle came back with chops of his own before Uno caught him with a half-hatch suplex. Uno fired up with clotheslines. Uno shoved the Boys into each other on the floor before walking into a set of Castle suplexes. Castle got a nearfall with a Slingblade bulldog before rocking Uno with a back elbow. Castle hit the Bangarang to score the win and punch his ticket to Final Battle.

Tony Khan was backstage with Lexy Nair. Khan plugged Final Battle before Billie Starkz entered the frame. She asked for a title shot against Athena. Khan noted that Starkz had won nine singles matches in a row before making the match official for Final Battle.
