Sammy Guevara reveals surprise tag partner at ROH Death Before Dishonor

Sammy Guevara has a new tag team partner.

After losing the ROH Six-Man Tag Team title match earlier in the show, Sammy Guevara and new tag team partner Rush defeated The Outrunners to win the ROH Tag Team titles, with Guevara scoring the win with a swanton bomb.

Following the match, Dralistico came out and celebrated with Rush and Guevara. The Von Erichs, who partnered with Guevara earlier in the night, came out and questioned him. Guevara acted like he wanted everyone to get along, but instead turned against the Von Erich as Rush, Dralistico, and LFI beat them down to boos.

Guevara previously had held the ROH Tag Team titles with Dustin Rhodes, who had also held the Six-Man titles with The Von Erics. Both sets of titles were vacated after Rhodes underwent surgery and new champions were decided at Death Before Dishonor. However, Guevara and the Von Erichs came up short against Shane Taylor Promotions who walked away with the ROH Six-Man titles.

Since returning to television, Guevara has mostly worked for Ring of Honor, aligning himself with Rhodes. However both he and Rhodes competed in a four-way at All In where Dustin won the TNT title. Guevara seemed upset about the loss at the time, but ultimately shook Rhodes’ hand after the match.

Bunkhouse Brawl for ROH Tag Team titles booked for next week’s AEW Collision

Even though this Saturday’s edition of AEW Collision has yet to air, a tag team title match for the following Saturday has already been signed.

That match will see Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes defend against former champions Matt Taven & Mike Bennett of The Undisputed Kingdom in a Bunkhouse brawl match.

The challenge was issued during Friday’s Rampage when Taven and Bennett verbally ran down the champions backstage, calling them out for a Fight Without Honor. Things then got heated with Rhodes upping the stakes for one of the his family’s signature matches instead.

Rhodes and Guevara have held the titles for just under a month after defeating Bennett and Taven on a mid-August edition of Collision. A Bennett and Taven win would give them their fourth title reign.

Rhodes also holds the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles with Marshall & Ross Von Erich.

The match is the first announced for the Saturday, September 21st show from Springfield, Massachusetts’ MassMutual Center.

Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes win ROH Tag team titles on AEW Collision

Dustin Rhodes is now a double champion in Ring of Honor.

Rhodes, along with Sammy Guevara, defeated The Undisputed Kingdom (Mike Bennett and Matt Taven) on Saturday’s Collision to win the titles for the first time. The finish came when Roderick Strong and The Beast Mortos came out to interfere. The Von Erichs then came out and put them both in the Iron Claw.

Cage of Agony and The Conglomeration then came out as everyone brawled on the outside of the ring. Back inside, Guevara hit a springboard cutter to Taven as Rhodes hit the curtain call on Bennett. Guevara then won the match and the titles with a senton.

Rhodes and The Von Erichs have formed a partnership during AEW’s residency in Arlington, Texas. Together they defeated The Undisputed Kingdom at Battle of the Belts XI to win the vacant ROH Six-Man tag titles. Shortly after, Sammy Guevara made his return to AEW by appearing on ROH, saving Rhodes from an attack by The Dark Order.

MJF loses ROH Tag Team titles to The Devil’s Masked Men on AEW Dynamite

MJF is no longer half of the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions.

The reigning AEW World Champion lost the titles to The Devil’s Masked Men in the main event of Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite after Samoa Joe was unable to join him which turned out to be a double-cross.

In a short match that went into the overrun portion of the show, Joe was shown backstage clutching his knee after a supposed attack. MJF elected to defend the titles in a handicap match instead and after dominating both men, a third masked man came out from under the ring to hit MJF in his injured shoulder with a pipe.

MJF was then hit with his own Heat Seeker move and pinned, giving the titles to the mystery men. Afterward, they continued to attack MJF before Joe limped out to make the save, only to hit MJF with a chair after The Devil appeared on the screen followed by a “Pleasure doing business with you” graphic.

Joe then laid out MJF with the Muscle Buster to close the show, adding some intrigue into their World title match at Saturday’s Worlds End.

The defeat ends the reign of MJF and Adam Cole which began with a win over Aussie Open at August’s All In at London’s Wembley Stadium. The duo defended the titles just once (upending Dark Order at September’s All Out) due to Cole sustaining a freak ankle/foot injury at that same month’s Dynamite Grand Slam.

MJF kept the titles as part of the Cole storyline, defending them against The Righteous at October’s WrestleDream in a handicap match. He and Joe then successfully defended them at November’s Full Gear as MJF promised Joe a title shot if he did so.

MJF vs. The Gunns ROH tag title match added to AEW Full Gear

A match for the ROH Tag Team titles is now set for Full Gear.

MJF agreed to a challenge from The Gunns, setting the stage for their match at Full Gear on November 18. MJF is now set to wrestle twice on the show, where he is already scheduled to face Jay White for the AEW World Championship.

Wednesday’s show saw MJF defeat Juice Robinson to retain the Dynamite Diamond Ring for the third year in a row. After the match, Bullet Club Gold attacked MJF, only for The Acclaimed to make the save. The Gunns then made their challenge for Full Gear.

It was also announced that Toni Storm would be getting an AEW Women’s Championship match at Full Gear, with AEW citing it as her ‘Hollywood Homecoming’. After Hikaru Shida defeated Ruby Soho to retain the title on Wednesday, Storm came to the stage with her new butler Luther and had a staredown with Shida.

Sting and Darby Allin also agreed to team against Christian Cage, Nick Wayne, and Luchasaurus after Cage issued the challenge on Wednesday. After Ric Flair made a surprise appearance as Sting’s ‘gift’ on Dynamite, Cage teased that Flair could team up with Alin and Sting. Sting instead said that they’d find a third partner.

Later in the show, Sting and Allin attempted to talk to Adam Copeland, who has no interest in facing Cage.

Here is the updated lineup for Full Gear:

  • AEW World Championship: MJF defends against Jay White
  • AEW Women’s Championship: Hikaru Shida defends against Toni Storm
  • ROH Tag Team titles: MJF defends against The Gunns
  • Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne vs. Sting, Darby Allin, and ??

MJF to defend ROH tag titles in handicap match at AEW WrestleDream

The ROH Tag Team title match at WrestleDream is now a handicap match.

After Adam Cole revealed he would need surgery for a broken ankle on Wednesday’s Dynamite, he was about to announce they would have to vacate the ROH Tag Team titles when MJF cut him off. MJF told Cole that if it wasn’t for him, Cole would have never gotten injured and didn’t want to vacate the titles. He then announced he would face the Righteous in a handicap match at WrestleDream this Sunday.

Yuta challenged Starks to a match after confronting Starks on this week’s Dynamite. Yuta told Starks it was wrong of him to put his hands on Starks after the Texas Death match against Bryan Danielson on this past Saturday’s Collision, but told Starks that he was an “entitled prick”. Yuta then issued the challenge for WrestleDream, which was quickly made official by Tony Khan.
