– Tonight’s Supercard Showdown kicked off with Ian Riccaboni welcoming us from the SoFi Center in West Palm Beach, FL, the site of AEW Fairway to Hell last Saturday.

Maya World, Lacey Lane, Yuka Sakazaki vs. Athena, Billie Starkz, Marina Shafir

Sakazaki and Athena kicked it off for this match. Sakazaki too Athena down with a shoulder tackle, but the ROH Women’s Champion answered with one of her own. The two exchanged hip-tosses and dropkicks, but neither got the clear advantage here. Sakazaki struck Athena with a hard elbow to the face as Marina Shafir forced herself to enter the match in Starkz’s place.

Shafir held onto Sakazaki’s arm and tried to work it over, but got hit with a kick to the face instead. Sakazaki attacked Shafir in the corner before Lacey Lane tagged in. Lane and Maya hit Shafir with attacks in the corner, as Maya continued the attack with a dropkick on her foe. Maya attempted a suplex, but Shafir blocked it. Sakazaki entered and tried to help Maya with the suplex. Soon all the remaining competitors entered and we got a suplex tug-of-war of sorts. However, it was Athena, Shafir, and Starkz who got the better of their opponents in this exchange as they nailed the suplex.

Athena and Shafir got into a bit of an argument as we had all six women in the ring at the moment. Shafir shoved Lane away before she held Sakazaki in a gutwrench position. Starkz struck Sakazaki with a running knee afterwards. Shafir kept Sakazaki isolated from her corner as Athena blind tagged into the match, much to Shafir’s consternation. Athena took control and pummeled Sakazaki with strikes as Starkz was now the legal woman for her team. Starkz went for the cover, but Sakazaki kicked out at two. That moment of solace was brief as Athena re-entered the match and kept the damaging assault on Sakazaki going. Athena tried to play defense to prevent Sakazaki from making the tag with a scoop body slam for the near-fall. Athena applied the cravate on Sakazaki, who tried to fight ouf the hold. Sakazaki missed with the kick, but not the elbow. However, she couldn’t get the tag as Shafir stopped her at the pass. Sakazaki hit the dropkick on Shafir, while Athena and Maya World took each other out with clotheslines.

Back in the ring, Lacey Lane got the tag and she took it to the Minion-in-Training with a fierce kick. Athena got a capoeira kick from Lane, but she responded with the pumphandle driver. Maya took Athena out with the dropkick, as Shafir then began to fight with her outside the ring. Sakazaki leapt from the top to take out both Shafir and Maya. In the ring, Starkz hit Lane with the knee to the face as she then put her foe down with a snapmare. As Starkz headed up the top rope, Athena blind tagged just as Starkz connected with a swanton bomb. Athena then slid in and got the pin and win, much to Starkz’s frustration.

Athena, Billie Starkz, & Marina Shafir def. Lacey Lane, Maya World, & Yuka Sakazaki vai pinfall

This was a solid opener, and the story beat of Athena stealing Starkz’s pin was a good one to set up Billie’s inevitable rising up against her “master”.

Tommy Billington & Adam Priest vs. The Death Riders (Daniel Garcia & Wheeler Yuta) (w/ Jon Moxley & PAC)

Yuta and Billington opened the match with some nice chain wrestling action as Garcia took over with the tag afterwards. Billington countered with the short arm scissors into the wrist lock as Priest got the tag. Yuta rejoined the match with the tag and faced off with Priest. The pace began to quicken with a Priest shoulder tackle. Priest offered a handshake, but Yuta answered with a cheapshot. Yuta paid for it with a clothesline from Priest as Billington then tagged in. Priest and Billington hit a double team backbreaker on Yuta. Garcia intercepted an attempted suplex from Billington and caught Yuta. The two then attacked the isolated Billington, but not before the took Priest out from the apron.

Garcia applied the chinlock on Billington as Moxley and PAC looked on at ringside. Billington got out of it, but immediately got sent down on his back by Garcia as Yuta kept him isolated from his corner. Yuta applied the deathlock on Billington for maximum pain. Garcia delivered repeated European uppercuts to Billington as he and Yuta then shelled him with repeated running splashes, followed by a double dropkick. Yuta kept Billington grounded momentarily, but a snap suplex put a stop to that. Garcia tried to stop Billington, but he ate a snap suplex for his troubles. Billington dodged a double clothesline as Priest finally entered the match.

Priest hit Garcia and Yuta with a double clothesline of his own as he followed that up with a German Suplex on Yuta. Priest hit the superplex on Garcia, followed by a Billington diving headbutt for the near-fall. Priest and Billington tried for the double German Suplex, but Yuta caught Billington in a sleeper. Meanwhile, Priest applied the seriously-strong single-leg crab. We then got a double submission as Yuta and Priest were caught in separate submissions. Garcia countered Billington and applied the Dragon Tamer while Priest had the single-leg crab. The two broke their own holds and began to fight in the middle of the ring. In the ring, Billington hit a modified Olympic Slam on Billington and had him in sight for the Busaiku Knee. Instead, Billington got him with the clothesline. Priest tried to go up top, but Garcia tripped him up. This left Billington at the mercy of a piledriver from Garcia. Priest slid in and immediately got finished off with the Busaiku Knee as the Death Riders got the win here.

The Death Riders def. Adam Priest & Tommy Billington via pinfall

A terrific technical showcase between these two teams. Priest and Billington continue to impress me the more and more I watch them.

Satnam Singh vs. James Tapia & CD Bennett

Tapia and Bennett sized up their giant foe to start. Both men got thrown around as they failed at their respective chances to knock Singh off his feet. Tapia and Bennett tried to go at Singh together, but it didn’t work, either. Scoop slam by Singh on Tapia, as Bennet found himself thrown right into this partner by the giant. Double crossbody by Singh on his two hapless foes, but he relinquished the pin. Singh tried to lift Bennett up, but Tapia clipped him. The two tried a double suplex, but they were overpowered easily by Singh. Bennett stumbled back to his feet as Singh grabbed at his throat. Tapia tried to stop it, but to no avail. Singh then made no mistake with the double chokeslam as he then stacked Bennett and Tapia for the pin and win.

Satnam Singh def. James Tapia & CD Bennett

Just your standard big man squash match from Singh. If that’s not your cup of tea, then this match will probably not be your cup of tea.

Pure Rules Match: Josh Woods vs. Angelico (w/ Serpentico)

The match kicked off with Angelico appliying the chinlock that he turned into a pin attempt. Woods answered with an arm wrench, as he and Angelico got into a methodical duel early in this Pure Rules contest. Angelico worked on wrenching the wrist of Woods as the two then traded standing switches. Woods used the first of his three rope breaks, perhaps inadvertently, to break Angelico’s hold. This seemed to put Woods into another zone as he aggressively went after Angelico with strikes in the corner, followed by a backbreaker into a beastly lariat. Woods attempted an O’Connor Roll German Suplex, but Angelico turned that into a pin attempt for the near-fall. Woods tried for the Chaos Theory again and then got the win. After the match, a crazed Woods applied the Key Lock on Angelico as Serpentico tried to save his partner. Woods angrily called out Nigel McGuinness, who soon came out.

McGuinness took the mic and said that he and they didn’t have to wait until Supercard of Honor, they could do it tonight. Woods refused, stating that he wanted to do it in front of the whole world. McGuinness concluded by declaring that he might take some liberties himself tomorrow.

Josh Woods def. Angelico via pinfall

Short match, but I think it worked in establishing Woods as a dangerous threat and I’m looking forward to his match with Nigel McGuinness tomorrow night.

– We got remarks from ROH Women’s Television Champion Red Velvet, who addressed her Supercard of Honor opponent, Viva Van.

ROH World Six-Man Championship Match: Shane Taylor Promotions (Carlie Bravo, Shane Taylor, “The Captain” Shawn Dean) (c) vs. Eddie Kingston, Ortiz, & Mance Warner

We didn’t waste any time as the bell rang and all six competitors went after each other immediately. In the ring, Ortiz scoop slammed Bravo, followed by the leg drop. Bravo responded with a crossover punch in the corner, but that did him little good as the Snake Eyes from Ortiz allowed him to tag in Warner. Dean tagged in to face off against Warner, but he got lit up with chops to the chest, followed by the running boot. Warner took a bite out of the Captain’s hand before he tagged in Kingston. Dean got shellshocked by a double shoulder block from Kingston and Warner. The namesake of Shane Taylor Promotions tagged and we got some big men slapping meat action between Taylor and Kingston.

Kingston tried to hit the uranage on Taylor, but he couldn’t lift him up. The left jab and the headbutt from Taylor left Kingston at the mercy of The Infantry in the S.T.P. corner. Bravo tagged in and hit a running jab to a prone Kingston. Capt. Dean hit a running bronco buster on Kingston as S.T.P. kept the advantage in this ROH Six-Man Tag title match. Kingston escaped Dean’s hold, but a thumb to the eye from The Captain snuffed out that comeback attempt. Shane Taylor continued the onslaught on Kingston, who refused to go quietly without a fight. Kingston fired up with chops, as he managed to lift Taylor with a huge T-Bone Suplex. This allowed Mance Warner to enter the fray with a hot tag.

Warner absolutely pasted Bravo with a clothesline, as Capt. Dean ate jabs, followd by the shot to the eyes. Taylor interjected with a clothesline as he held him up for a leapfrog attack from both Bravo and Dean. Kingston and Ortiz broke up the count. With Taylor disposed of outside, Warner hit Dean with a running knee, but Bravo broke up the count. Ortiz was thrown into the corner, while Warner was hit with a double neckbreaker in the ring to retain.

Shane Taylor Promotions def. Mance Warner, Eddie Kingston, and Ortiz via pinfall to retain the ROH Six-Man Championships

I thought this match was alright. It could’ve been a bit better, but what we got was good. It’s a joy to see Mance Warner in action, and I do like the Shane Taylor Promotions aesthetic as a stable.

*******************************************

Evil Uno vs. Blake Christian (w/ Jay Lethal & Lee Johnson)

Blake entered to the match wearing a mask he stole from Bandido. Before the match, Blake told Jay Lethal and Lee Johnson to head to the back before he took a cheapshot at Uno. The brainchild of Mystery Wrestling responded with clubbing strikes in the corner followed by a one-armed clotheslines. Uno attempted a powerbomb, but Blake countered that into a rolling dropkick. Uno headed out to the ring and found himself flattened by Blake’s dropkick and suicide dive. Christian threw Uno into the steel steps before sending him back to the ring and leaping off the rope for a springboard forearm to his opponent. Blake taunted Uno as he slapped him in the face. That seemed to fire Uno up as he answered with a slap, followed by a running DDT for the near-fall. Uno then tried for another powerbomb, but Blake countered. He then put on the Bandido mask and looked like he was going to do the 21-Plex, but Uno countered that. Back suplex reversed by Blake, who pushed Uno in the referee’s path. Blake then hit the Lethal Injection, followed by his counterfeit 21-Plex, a Shining Wizard, and finally the amazingly-named Vanilla Choke Zero submission for the tapout win.

After the match, Blake addressed Bandido directly. He said that he was proving week in and week out that he was going to take Bandido’s ROH World Championship. Blake declared that we’d find out soon that Vanilla Baby would be the next ROH World Champion.

Blake Christian def. Evil Uno via pinfall

It’s great to see Evil Uno in action, and Blake Christian being on the cusp of being ROH Champion tomorrow night is honestly good for him. He’s a promising young talent that I think would do great as ROH World Champion.

– We got remarks from ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty and Ace Austin ahead of their title bout tomorrow night at Supercard of Honor.

ROH Women’s Pure Championship Proving Ground: Deonna Purrazzo vs. Kaci Lennox

With a ten-minute time limit and the Code of Honor adhered to, this match got underway. Purrazzo and Lennox exchaged standing switches, as the Women’s Pure Champion got ahead of things with a big boot to the face. Purrazzo tried for the piledriver, but Lennox blocked it and grabbed her by the hair to slam her down to the mat. A very cocky Lennox trashtalked her championship foe and punched at her face. Lennox kept up the slander as she chopped Purrazzo in the corner. A punch to the face seemed to fire Purrazzo up as she went after her foe with punches of her own. Lennox got ahead of that with a clothesline.

Lennox lifted Purrazzo up, as she then connected with the straight pump-kick. Purrazzo blocked Lennox in the corner and targeted the arm with the side Russian Leg Sweep followed by the Fujiwara Armbar for the pin and win with 6:24 left in the match.

After the match, Purrazzo’s celebration was interrupted by Diamante, who attacked her from behind. Diamante took Purrazzo’s Womens’s Pure Championship and smashed her in the face with it. For added insult to injury, Diamante applied the Fujiwara Armbar as she stood tall with less than 24 hours to go until her match against Purrazzo for the Women’s Pure Championship.

Deonna Purrazzo def. Kaci Lennox via submission

I thought this was a good match, if a bit short. Obviously, the post-match with Diamante attacking Purrazzo was important and that did a good job to build towards their Women’s Pure Championship match tomorrow night.

Dalton Castle & The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum) vs. Baby Keef, Xander Maddox, & Charlie Malachite

As Castle walked down to the ring, he talked to the camera, upset that he didn’t get to go to an arboretum.

Truth and Malachite opened the match for their teams, and it seemed the cocky Malachite had Truth’s number… at least for a bit. Standing armdrag by Truth stopped that momentum, as did the chop to Malachite’s chest. Turbo tagged in and powered up his guns before he hit the elbow on Malachite. Xander Maddox tagged in and couldn’t take down Turbo with strikes, as Keef tagged in, to similar successes. The Outrunners showed a little vintage teamwork at Keef’s expense, as Malachite tagged in and demanded that Dalton Castle get into the match. Castle tagged in and took his foes for a ride with consecutive overhead throws. We then got triple-stereo scoop slams from the Outrunners and Castle. Turbo and Truth then did the “You Son of a Bitch” handshake and elbow to pick up the win in short order.

The Outrunners & Dalton Castle def. Charlie Malachite, Baby Keef, and Xander Maddox via pinfall

Really fun trios match. The Outrunners and Castle tandem makes for really fun stuff as a team. Plus, the beauty of these shows introducing me to new undiscovered talents continues here.

*******************************************

– Athena’s backstage interview was interrupted by an angry Billie Starkz, who was upset that the ROH Womens Champion was once again making everything all out her. Athena angrily responded that she kept Starkz relevant and that Ring of Honor’s women’s division would not exist without her. Starkz begrudgingly said thanks to Athena, who warned her M.I.T. to listen to her, or face the consequences.

Survival of the Fittest Qualifying Match: Hyan vs. Zayda Steel (w/ Christopher Daniels)

Hyan and Steel started quick by trading pins as the latter dodged a kick from Steel. Some really nice work from Hyan year with the roll, followed by standing faceplant and the dropkick. Steel answered with a leg sweep and a dropkick of her own. Outside the ring, Hyan suplexed Steel onto the mat outside. Both women rolled back into the ring and traded some heavy strikes. Steel and Hyan exchanged elbows to the face as the former exhibited a nice rollthrough into a chinlock and transitioning that into a single-arm straitjacket hold. To break the hold, Hyan literally took a bite of the bottom rope before she hit Steel with a spear for a near-fall.

Hyan lifted Steel, but it turned into a pin reversal. The two then traded more pins with nobody able to get the three. Steel nearly got the win on a unique throw that sent Hyan head-first. Hyan’s Gory Special nearly won it, but Steel picked up the win with a rolling facebuster to earn a spot in Survival of the Fittest.

Zayda Steel def. Hyan via pinfall to qualify for Survival of the Fittest

These two made the most of the time they got and we got a fantastic match out of it. Steel and Hyan got a chance to shine and they capitalized on i.

ROH World Television Championship: Nick Wayne (c) (w/ Mother Wayne & Kip Sabian) vs. AR Fox

Our Supercard Showdown main event got underway with Wayne and Fox got into each other’s face as the hatred between the two was palpable. Fox avoided a strike from Wayne as the two then traded pinfall attempts. Fox used his speed to elude Wayne as he then hit a unique rolling swinging suplex from the apron and into the ring. Wayne grabbed the ropes to avoid a Fox kick as he left the ring. He hit Fox in the midsection, but he got hit with a boot to the face. Fox then showed his incredible agility with a moonsault off the ringpost and to a stunned Wayne.

In the ring, Fox battered Wayne with elbows, but a timely interference from Sabian saved his Patriarchy ally from any further arm. Fox was sent crashing out to the ring by a running attack from Wayne. The World Television Champion then hit Sliced Bread, using the steel steps as a launching pad. As Fox struggled to get back up, Sabian huddled with Wayne to give him advice. Fox entered the ring and got choked by Mother Wayne with the ref’s back turned. Legdrop from Wayne was followed by an Eastern Stretch on Fox. The challenger broke the hold with a shinbreaker as he tried to mount a comeback. With Wayne on the apron, Fox showed some more of that innovative offense of his with a middle-rope DDT. That gave Fox a second win with a clotheslines, and an amazing double wristlock into a cutter. Powerbomb by Fox was somehow not enough to get the win here.

Wayne blocked Fox’s attempt at the Spicolli Driver, but that only earned him a kick to the gut. The World Television Champion got back onto the swing of things with a Shiranui for a near-fall. As Fox used the ropes to get back up, Wayne intercepted him and blasted him right in the ribs with the knee. Wayne squeezed at the ribs of Fox, but the challenger broke out of the grip. Fox countered with a wrsitlock, followed by the enzuigiri. Rolling cutter was blocked and turned into a suplex, followed by a Code Red for a 2.999999 near-fall.

Wayne blasted Fox with repeated kicks to the left bicept as he took time to mock his foe. Fox responded with a spit, then the basement cutter. Things quickened as he hit another cutter on the champion. As Wayne rolled outside, Fox hit paydirt with the Fosbury Flop. Sabian got blasted with a dive. In the ring, Wayne blocked Fox’s dive, which opened him up for a kick, but before Wayne could get his move in, Fox quickly rolled him up, and that’s it, over. We have a new Ring of Honor World Television Champion.

After the match, the very creepy face of Lio Rush interrupted the celebration of Fox, simply saying “tomorrow”. We learned from Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman that AR Fox would be defending his newly-won World TV Title against Lio Rush tomorrow night.

AR Fox def. Nick Wayne via pinfall to win the ROH World Television Championship

Incredible, incredible match. AR Fox is an amazing talent and giving him the ROH World TV Title waes the right call here. Fox and Nick Wayne had what I believed was the match of the night here.

The Premier Athletes (Tony Nese, Aria Daivari, Stori Denali) vs. Jacey Love, Ricky Martinez, and Ernest R. Alexander

Tony Nese and Alexander started off for their teams, as the Premier Athletes took control with Daivari helping out his pal Tony Nese in attacking Alexander. Ernest was left alone as he tagged Jacey Love in. This brought the massive Stori Denali into the match. Stori hit Love with a fierce pump kick followed by an F10. Love avoided a Stori clothesline and tagged Martinez in. Similar results for Alexander’s partner, as the Premier Athletes feasted on their foe with an assisted DDT. Love was then brougth in for the chokeslam from Stori as the Premier Athletes got the win.

The Premier Athletes def. Jacey Love, Ricky Martinez, & Ernest R. Alexander via pinfall

This is my first of seeing Stori Denali in action, and I’m impressed with what I saw. There’s room for improvement for sure, but I think I liked what I saw out of her.

ROH World Championship Proving Ground: Bandido vs. Action Andretti

Andretti and Bandido did the Code of Honor Handshake as this ten-minute bout got underway. Andretti’s side headlock on Bandido had little sucecss, as a standing shoulder block brought him down afterwards. Banddio showed great agility, but Andretti countered the hurricanrana with a handstand press. A springboard arm drag from Andretti was blocked by Bandido and we’ve got some nice CMLL-style lucha action here tonight.

Bandido flew out of the ring after Andretti avoided an attack from his opponent. Andretti then followed that with a diving attack over the ropes that hit its target. Springboard forearm from Andretti on Bandido couldn’t put this match away. Andretti applied a side headlockd, followed by a running neckbreaker. The ROH World Champion was kept on his toes with a back suplex from Andretti, but a suplex attempt was blocked twice. Bandido used his sheer strength to hit a strong suplex. Bandido answered with a flapjack as he then headed up top for a frog splash. Andretti dodged and nearly got the win on a hurricanrana. He then hit a handspring back elbow on Bandido, followed by the standing moonsault splash. Andretti’s attack was intercepted by BandiDo, who planted him with a one-hand military press. Handspring attack from Andretti was countered into the XD by Bandido, who picked up the win in our Supercard Showdown main event.

Blake Christian and The Twist appeared after the match, as the challenger for the ROH World Title stepped onto the apron and threw the mask he stole from Bandido at him. Christian gestured that he was coming for Bandido’s world title as tonight’s show came to an end.

Bandido def. ActIon Andretti via pinfall

*******************************************

That was a great main event to end what was a jampacked night of action just 24 hours before Supercard of Honor. Bandido continues to show his stuff in the ring, which made him a standout for me last year. I’m happy to see that continue into this year, and the match with Blake Christian tomorrow should be a heck of a bout.

As for the rest of Supercard Showdown, it was a buffet of great in-ring action and nearly every match delivered in their own way, with my favorite being the Nick Wayne/AR Fox ROH TV Title match and the Death Riders vs. Priest/Billington tag matches. I also enjoyed the story development we got with Billie Starkz seemingly reaching her breaking point with Athena’s belittling and gaslight, so I’m interested to see that play out tomorrow, if it happens.

All in all, Ring of Honor set the table for what should be a great Supercard of Honor show with an action-filled prelude tonight.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Mark Briscoe vs. Griff Garrison

The ROH World Champion will be in action tonight on HonorClub.

In his first match on ROH TV since January, Mark Briscoe will wrestle Griff Garrison in a Proving Grounds match on this week’s show. If Garrison goes the time limit or is able to defeat Briscoe, he’ll earn a future shot a the title.

Lee Johnson will try to get back in the win column after a loss to Kyle Fletcher at Supercard of Honor. He’ll wrestle JD Drake on tonight’s show.

The former Taurus, now known as The Beast Mortos, is scheduled to wrestle Nick Comoroto this week as well.

Other matches scheduled for the show include Abadon vs. Allysin Kay, Lady Frost vs. Marti Belle, and Bryan Keith vs. Aaron Solo.

ROH on HonorClub lineup for April 18, 2024 —

  • ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe vs. Griff Garrison in a Proving Grounds match
  • Abadon vs. Allysin Kay
  • Lee Johnson vs. JD Drake
  • Nick Comoroto vs. The Beast Mortos
  • Lady Frost vs. Marti Belle
  • Bryan Keith vs. Aaron Solo
  • Taya Valkyrie, Leila Grey, & Diamante vs. Leyla Hirsch, Kiera Hogan, & Trish Adora
  • Lance Archer & The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) vs. Jon Cruz, Savion Truitt, Chambers
  • Dark Order’s John Silver & Evil Uno vs. Frank Milano and Zak Patterson

With the Ring of Honor World Champion in this house, this show promised to be a big one. The show started with Mark Briscoe addressing his opponents at AEW Dynasty, the House of Black. He warned them to be afraid. Be very afraid.

Bryan Keith defeated Aaron Solo

Keith, my new favorite wrestler, entered to a great ovation from the crowd. Both Solo and Keith had some serious technical skills and this match put them both to the test.

Solo controlled early on, but Keith managed to take back the momentum with a big stalling suplex. Solo relied on a strategy that would take away Keith’s skills including luring him to the outside and driving Keith into the ring steps.

Keith tried to keep Solo off his feet with a series of big chops and strikes. Solo’s speed was a factor as well, often leaving the slightly larger Keith scrambling in between moves. When he was able to make contact though, Keith was able to dominate with explosive moves like t-bone slams and punishing forearms.

Keith tried to finish things with an emerald tiger driver, but Solo was able to wriggle free and land a t-bone of his own. Keith stunned Solo with a big headbutt and then landed a flipping stunner to get the victory.

Lance Archer & The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) defeated Jon Cruz, Savion Truitt, Chambers

Vincent and Dutch have been teaming with Archer for a while now and always put on a good show.

Archer, standing at least a foot taller than Truitt, just mercilessly beat him. Dutch tagged in and continued the assault. This seemed to be the strategy of the Righteous and Archer: Isolate, quick tags, and hard, hard shots.

To put a point to this squash, and Orange Sunshine and a Blackout were landed, and that was about it. Cruz never even entered the match (officially).

-Mark Sterling appeared via a pre-taped segment promoting the Premiere Athletes. It was closer to a commercial for a gym than a wrestling promo but it did a lot to pump up the group, spotlighting Tony Nese.

The scene shifted to a backstage promo, where Sterling continued bragging about his team and their physical prowess. Daivari, Woods and Nese stood silently, giving Sterling’s rant a very “head coach at a press conference” feel. He promised that their win a Supercard was Phase 1 of his plan, and Phase 2 starts… tonight.

Lee Johnson defeated JD Drake

Drake does not look like he would be as fast as he is. Combine that with Johnson’s explosive style, and this was set up to be a killer match. Johnson lost to TV Champion Kyle Fletcher at Supercard of Honor and was looking to bounce back here against Drake.

Drake’s size advantage was a big factor early on as Johnson felt out his opponent. As mentioned, Drake was faster than he looked and was able to counter Johnson’s attempt at quickening the pace.

Johnson kept trying to get Drake up for bodyslams three times, so often in fact that even Drake was questioning why he was bothering. Switching gears, Johnson tried to rely on hard strikes to get the big man off his feet, but had little success. Drake for his part laid back and let Johnson come to him for doling out some big power moves of his own.

Drake made Arn proud with a picture perfect spinebuster, but Johnson wasn’t out yet. Johnson got Drake up on the top rope and hit a sunset bomb and a frog splash to get the hard-earned win.

Abadon defeated Allysin Kay

Abadon screamed her way to the ring to a great ovation from the crowd. Kay looked a little nervous standing across from Abadon, but frankly, who wouldn’t?

Abandon tried to bite Kay right off the top, but Kay was able to dodge and actually put Abadon on the ground with a big kick. Kay even went for a cover, but barely got a one-count. Kay had size on Abadon, but it wasn’t enough to keep Abadon down.

Abadon changed the momentum of the match with a big bulldog. Abandon hit a Black Dahlia out of nowhere and just like that the win was hers.

The Infantry (Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo) defeated The Iron Savages (Bronson and Boulder w/ Jacked Jameson)

Looking like Scott Steiner had three babies, The Savages entered first promising all the sauce and city travels that the audience could handle. The infantry was next, with less sauce.

In what was a bit of at theme of this episode, this match was very much about high fliers versus the meatiest of meat men. This was apparent as Boulder and Bravo tried to get one up on each other in the ring. Bronson and Boulder actually found themselves unable to keep up with the speedier Infantry, and had to duck to the outside to regroup.

A distraction on the ring apron from Jameson led to Bravo getting caught in a massive slam and the Savages took control. Jameson continued to get up on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) to cause distractions. Dean responded with a big slam onto him and Boulder on the outside.

With Boulder isolated, the Infantry was able to double-team him with a big Boot Camp and take the victory.

– After the match, The Premiere Athletes ran to the ring and began a 3-on-2 beatdown on Dean and Bravo. Suddenly, Dalton Castle’s music hit and he arrived to even the odds! Not only that, but Mark Briscoe, Bryan Kieth and Lee Johnson bolted to the ring to run off the Premiere Athletes, to the crowd’s delight.

Leyla Hirsch, Kiera Hogan, & Trish Adora defeated Taya Valkyrie, Leila Grey, & Diamante

-Earlier in the show, Lexi Nair interviewed Valkyrie backstage. Nair asked Valkryie where JOhnny TV was. Valkyrie said he was rehabbing his abs, so that he could look his best. Tonight, she plans to carry the weight of the TV Family in her trios match.

That aforementioned match was a who’s who of the ROH Women’s division. Valkyrie started things off for her team against Hogan, both peppering the other with hard strikes off the middle rope. Diamante tagged in to deliver corner kicks to the isolated Hogan.

Hirsch got into the ring and traded locks with Diamante. Diamante used a quick tag to Adora to flip the momentum and drop some UFC-style fists. Grey tagged into get a piece, and she and Valkyrie double-teamed a prone Adora.

The match was fast-moving, with tags happening after only a few moves from each woman. Valkyrie tripped up Hogan from the outside and ate a suicide dive from Hirsch. Back in the ring, Hogan landed a bridge suplex on Grey to get the win.

The Beast Mortos defeated Nick Comoroto

This match won the award for most “o’s” in competitor’s names. Not a big honor, but an exclusive one.

Comoroto had a significant size advantage over Mortos, but Mortos being a literal beast helped even the odds. Mortos tried to get things moving early on, but Comoroto simply let the smaller man bounce off of him. Mortos’ agility kept him out of Comoroto’s arms for the most part, but the bigger man connected with a huge lariat.

Comoroto looked to end things quickly, but Mortos wriggled free and delivered some quick kicks, stunning Comoroto. A dropkick to the knee took Comoroto off his feet and Mortos added a dropkick from the top rope to the beating for good measure.

Mortos ended up getting the win with a side over shoulder moonsault that knocked Comoroto to the mat for the pin.

-Later, Lexi Nair tried to interview Comoroto. They were interrupted by Jacoby Watts who said virtually nothing of substance, but was clearly working on recruiting Comoroto.

Lady Frost defeated Marti Belle

Frost iced out Belle right from the jump, refusing a code of honor. The cold shoulder continued as Frost did not appreciate some showboating from Belle, and put her in a headlock. Bell fought back though, chipping away at Frost, trying to keep momentum on her side.

Belle was actually in control through most of this match, melting away Frost’s offense. Frost crept back though, freezing Belle in her tracks. Belle continued showing off for the crowd while Frost chilled out in the corner.

Getting her energy back, Frost began turning down the heat (which is a good thing for her), kicking and tossing Belle into the corner for a Snowbomb. Frost connected with an ice cold kick and landed a Temperature drop to get the win and put Belle on ice.

Dark Order’s John Silver & Evil Uno defeated Frank Milano and Zak Patterson

Fan favorite Uno started off against Milano who cheap-shotted in during the Code of Honor.

Uno’s size and evil advantages made Milano not much of a threat, and Uno quickly gained control of the action. Silver tagged in to pose (which was appreciated by the crowd) and Patterson jumped in just in time to get planted on his back by Silver.

Milano hit a sling blade on Silver for a quick two-count. He dragged Silver to Patterson in the corner for a quick tag and a snapmare. Patterson sent Silver across the ring with a fallaway slam, but Silver fought back, reversing a suplex to get a hot tag to Uno.

Uno took out Patterson and Milano with many, many forearms to the head in the corner. Patterson rolled out, leaving Uno and Milano in the ring. Uno hit something evil on Milano and won the match.

ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe defeated Griff Garrison in a Proving Ground match

-Earlier in the show, Lexi Nair interviewed Garrison, Karter and Maria backstage. Nair asked about Serpentico’s mask and if they ever plan to give it back. Spoiler alert: No. Maria then said that Garrison needed to focus on his match and they left.

This match was a Proving Ground match, meaning if Garrison could last 10 minutes or beat Briscoe, he’d get an ROH World Title match at a future date.

Briscoe entered to a hero’s welcome from the crowd. This being his first title defense, Briscoe was fired up and so was the audience. Briscoe also showed off his brand-new ROH World Title belt, complete with custom camo pattern on the leather.

One doesn’t really wrestle Mark Briscoe, one just survives him. This was evident as Briscoe had Garrison on his back before he knew what hit him. Garrison retreated to the corner to collect himself, and Briscoe showed off some Redneck Kung Fu moves.

Briscoe unleashed his hard-hitting fighting style all over Garrison, leading to both men being on the outside. Garrison recovered, Briscoe stole a fan’s hat. After returning it, Briscoe hopped up on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) and Maria stepped in to protect Garrison. Briscoe got back in the ring, but was distracted by Karter, letting Garrison double axe handle the Champ, knocking him off his feet.

Briscoe fought back as he does, dumping Garrison to the outside. Karter checked on his partner, and Briscoe dove onto both of them. Back in the ring, Briscoe hit a huge lariat followed by a Jay Driller and Garrison’s title shot hopes were crushed, 1-2-3.

**********

This week’s ROH began with a recap of last week’s Women’s World Title match between Athena and Mercedes Martinez. We cut to video from after last week’s show, where Lexy Nair and Billie Starkz waited for Athena. Athena said that she would do whatever she needed to do to for Starkz to get more violent. Athena made it clear that Starkz was on her good side for now.

Serpentico defeated Tony Nese (w/Mark Sterling)

Sterling came out bragging about his charges scoring two straight wins over “that fat slob” Ethan Page. Nese dumped on Wichita before Serpentico came out for the scheduled match. Nese used his power to keep Serpentico off of his feet. Nese put Serpentico in the Tree of Woe before dropping into the crunch kicks.

Serpentico came back with a hurricanrana and a flatliner for a nearfall. Nese came right back with a spinning heel kick and set up the pumphandle slam, but Ethan Page came out with a microphone. He was ready for group training, which distracted Nese long enough to get rolled up by Serpentico. Page said that instead of group training, he would celebrate with Serpentico.

Action Andretti & Darius Martin were backstage with Lexy Nair. They spoke on their issues with Shane Taylor Promotions before bringing in their partners for tonight’s eight-man tag match, The Infantry. They hyped themselves up for the match.

Athena (w/Billie Starkz) defeated Heidi Howitzer

Howitzer took Athena down with a shoulder block and a big boot, sending Athena out of the ring. Athena slid out of the way of a baseball slide before dropping Howitzer with a rolling slam on the floor. Athena clubbered on Howitzer in the ring before tossing her with a German Suplex.

Howitzer tried coming back with hard Irish whips, but Athena hopped to the second rope and hit a Codebreaker. Athena hit the knockout forearm to score the win. After the match, Athena drilled Howitzer with a superkick before throwing her into the belt.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Lee Johnson

Fletcher yanked Johnson off of the turnbuckles during his entrance. Shane Taylor Promotions was seen watching backstage. Fletcher played keep-away from Johnson until Johnson caught him with a dropkick that sent him to the floor. Johnson chased Fletcher around the ring until Fletcher caught him with a superkick and dropped him on the apron with a back suplex.

Fletcher clubbered on Johnson until Johnson caught him with a back elbow. Johnson picked up the pace with clotheslines and a neckbreaker. Johnson hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall. Johnson hit Fletcher with a pair of elbows in the corner, but Fletcher avoided a corner charge and hit a tight Michinoku Driver for a nearfall.

Fletcher talked trash before catching a kick to the face. Johnson got Fletcher onto the top rope before hitting a superplex. Johnson followed it with a frog splash for a nearfall. Fletcher popped Johnson with a dropkick before hitting the leg lariat to the back. Fletcher hit the Tombstone for the win.

Leyla Hirsch defeated Charlette Renegade (w/ Robyn Renegade)

Charlette sent Hirsch into the ropes, where Robyn popped her with a forearm for a nearfall. Charlette kept the advantage on offense, hitting a Northern Lights Suplex for a nearfall. Hirsch hit a German suplex before hitting the pendulum dropkick in the corner for a nearfall. Hirsch hit a Saito suplex as Robyn sat a chair on the apron.

Robyn distracted the referee to allow Charlette to grab the chair, but Rachel Ellering took Robyn out with a forearm. The ref caught Charlette with the chair and took it away, allowing Hirsch to lock in a cross-arm breaker to score the submission win.

Athena and Billie Starkz were backstage with Lexy Nair. After scolding Nair for being friendly to Willow Nightingale, Athena told Starkz to show her violent streak against Rachel Ellering tonight. Athena noted that Final Battle was in her hometown and that she couldn’t wait to see which porcelain hussy she would beat.

Iron Savages (w/ Jacked Jameson) defeated Cole Karter & Griff Garrison (w/Maria Kanellis-Bennett)

Bronson caught Garrison with a bodyslam. Garrison avoided being sent into Boulder’s chest, but Karter wasn’t so lucky. Karter took Boulder down, but Boulder kept pressing his way out of the cover. Boulder hit them with a double flapjack before sending Bronson to the floor. Maria distracted Bronson before sending him into a Karter back body drop on the ramp.

Karter and Garrison worked over Bronson until he fought to make the tag to Boulder. Boulder ran wild, hitting both men with a powerbomb/World’s Strongest Slam combination for a nearfall. Karter rolled out of the way of a Boulder step-up moonsault, allowing Garrison to hit a rolling elbow to the back of the head. Karter hit a 450 splash for a nearfall that was broken up by Bronson.

Karter sent Bronson to the floor, but Boulder crashed into both Karter and Garrison with a crossbody. The Savages hit the Transformer Splash for the win.

We got a video package recapping Samoa Joe’s successful title defense and subsequent vacating of the ROH World Television Title. Tony Khan will make an announcement regarding the Television Title next week.

Billie Starkz (w/Athena) defeated Rachael Ellering

Starkz caught Ellering with a sunset flip, then kicked Ellering in the head for a nearfall. Starkz celebrated her small accomplishment, allowing Ellering to come back with a senton for a nearfall. Ellering hit a gutwrench suplex to take Starkz down before chopping Starkz in the corner. Ellering hit a running uppercut and a cross-leg Michinoku Driver for a nearfall.

Starkz avoided the Bosswoman Slam before Ellering clubbed Starkz with a clothesline and a forearm. Starkz ducked a clothesline and hit a spin kick, but Ellering followed up with a lariat. Starkz caught Ellering with a kick to the head before hitting a trio of German suplexes for a nearfall. Ellering cut off Starkz on the top rope, pulling her into a TKO for a nearfall.

Starkz eventually sent Ellering to the floor, following her out with a tope. Starkz sent Ellering into the barricade. Starks sent Ellering into the ring, where she hit a Swanton Bomb for the win.

Athena jumped Ellering after the bell, with Starkz joining in after a second. Leyla Hirsch ran them off, returning the favor for Ellering helping her out earlier.

Josh Woods defeated SK Bishop

Woods was dominant here. Bishop got a boot up on a corner charge, but Woods kneed him out of a high cross attempt. Woods hit Chaos Theory for the win.

Action Andretti, Darius Martin & The Infantry defeated Shane Taylor Promotions & The Wingmen

The match started with a Pier Six Brawl. The good guys sent the rudos to the floor before hitting planchas onto all of them. Unfortunately for Martin, Taylor caught him and flung him into the barricade. Bravo got caught by Taylor in the ring, who dropped him face-first on an up-and-over in the corner. Taylor sent Bravo into the corner buckle with a kick for a nearfall.

Bravo got worked on for a while before fighting his way to a tag out to Andretti. Andretti ran wild on the Wingmen, taking them down with a handspring elbow. Avalon accidentally punched Taylor, leading to Taylor and Moriarty knocking out Avalon and Nemeth and leaving. The Infantry hit Boot Camp on Avalon to score the win.

Rachel Ellering was backstage with Lexy Nair. Ellering felt like she was breaking through with Leyla Hirsch, but Hirsch came in to clarify. Hirsch said that she didn’t like owing anyone, so now she and Ellering are even. Maria Kanellis came in, mocking their teamwork to Hirsch’s chagrin. Kanellis told Hirsch to team with Ellering, and afterward, she would let Hirsch know about their future.

Dralistico (w/ Jose The Assistant) defeated Gravity

The announcers noted that these two are the brothers of former ROH World Champions. Gravity is Bandido’s younger brother, while Dralistico is the younger brother of Rush. Dralistico sent Gravity to the floor before following him with a big dive. Dralistico held control on Gravity until Gravity sent him to the floor. Gravity hit a step-up dive to the floor. Gravity fired up in the ring, hitting a headstand splash out of the corner for a nearfall.

Dralistico superkicked Gravity before hitting a powerbomb for a nearfall. They traded chops and running forearms before Gravity snatched Dralistico up in a powerslam. Gravity hung up Dralistico in the ropes before hitting a splash onto him for a nearfall. Dralistico tied up Gravity in the ropes before ripping off a springboard hurricanrana for a nearfall. Dralistico hit a corkscrew Destroyer to score the win.

ROH World Title Match – Eddie Kingston defeated Angelico to retain

A fine main event. There was never that close nearfall that made me think Angelico could win, but they had a solid back-and-forth here.

The two men started this match with technique, with Kingston breaking first and laying in a chop. Angelico caught a second chop and turned it into a cravat before kicking Kingston in the back of the head. The men traded strikes, with Angelico going after the knee. Kingston chopped Angelico into the corner before hitting the machine gun chops and a face wash.

Angelico countered a suplex attempt with a front facelock that he transitioned into a double wristlock that forced Kingston to the ropes. Kingston cut off Angelico with a kitchen sink knee and clubbered on him. Kingston dropped Angelico with more chops, but Angelico rolled through a uranage attempt and hit a kick that sent Kingston to the floor. Angelico followed with a dive onto Kingston.

Kingston tried to make some space, but Angelico hit a diving clothesline off of the apron. Angelico hit a high crossbody for a nearfall. Angelico got a nearfall with a jackknife pin, then tried a flash pin for a nearfall. Angelico kicked Kingston in the head before locking on La Casita for a nearfall. Kingston popped up with a Backfist, but Angelico kicked out. Kingston landed another Backfist before hitting the Northern Lights Driver to win and retain the title.

Backstage, Dalton Castle was frustrated that he couldn’t give people the show that they deserved. He didn’t want people like Eddie Kingston muddying the airwaves, saying that Kingston was throwing away his opportunities as champion. He said that Kingston was ordinary and that he wanted to give the people a World Champion that they could sink their teeth into. Eddie Kingston vs. Dalton Castle for the ROH World Title was made official for next week.

**********

This week’s episode began with Stokely Hathaway announcing that ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston had been temporarily suspended for putting his hands on Hathaway. He said that if Kingston touched him again, Kingston would be on the unemployment line.

The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) defeated Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal

Dutch used his size advantage to take control of Daniels to start the match. Daniels dumped Dutch into the ropes with a drop-toe hold to get a tag out to Sydal. Sydal hammered both Dutch and Vincent with kicks. Sydal and Daniels double-teamed Vincent, with Sydal hitting a slingshot meteora for a nearfall. Ian Riccaboni announced here that the Final Battle show would be available live on Honor Club, at no extra charge for subscribers.

Dutch cut Sydal off from the apron, allowing The Righteous to isolate Sydal in their corner. Vincent hit Death From Above on Sydal, with Daniels needing to make the save. Sydal hit a spin kick before getting the tag to Daniels. Daniels ran wild, dropping both men with STOs before hitting a Death Valley Driver on Vincent for a nearfall. Dutch came in and dropped Sydal with a Black Hole Slam, leaving Daniels on his own. Vincent hit Autumn Sunshine on Daniels to score the win.

Ethan Page was backstage with Lexy Nair. He said that the old Ethan Page would have reacted very differently to the actions of Tony Nese, but instead, he will go through Josh Woods tonight to get back at Nese.

Leyla Hirsch defeated Robyn Renegade (w/ Charlette Renegade)

Hirsch took down a trash-talking Renegade to start the match. Hirsch got distracted by Charlette at ringside, allowing Robyn to get a quick advantage. Hirsch came back with a Chaos Theory before scoring the submission win with an armbar.

Charlette jumped Hirsch after the match, but Rachel Ellering ran them off. Hirsch blew Ellering off, shoving her aside before leaving.

Darius Martin defeated Lee Moriarty

This is the type of match we need more of on ROH and AEW television. Two young, fresh talents having a clean showcase here on television.

This is a rematch from last week, where Shane Taylor interfered to help Moriarty win. The two men used their technical skills early on, catching each other in crucifix pins after scrambling on the mat to no avail. Moriarty hooked Martin in the ropes, before kicking Martin’s arm out from under him to develop his target. Moriarty countered a single-leg takedown into an abdominal stretch before using his leg to crank on Martin’s arm some more.

Martin picked up the pace, hitting a rope-assisted Pele kick for a nearfall. After a back-and-forth, Moriarty caught Martin with a hammerlock neckbreaker for a nearfall. Moriarty locked on the Border City Stretch, but Martin countered it into a pair of crucifix pins for nearfalls. Martin hammered Moriarty with a Penalty Kick, but Moriarty caught Martin with a pop-up flatliner for a nearfall. Moriarty and Martin traded strikes before Martin countered a running uppercut with a German suplex. Martin followed with a suplex before hitting a frog splash for the win.

We got a commercial for Final Battle, where it was reiterated that the show would be exclusively on Honor Club.

Josh Woods (w/ Mark Sterling) defeated Ethan Page

A nice story here, with Page being outnumbered and losing to the Varsity Athletes again.

Page had the early advantage, but Woods clipped Page’s arm on an up-and-over in the corner. Woods went to work on Page’s arm, hitting a hammerlock bodyslam for a nearfall. Woods kept tearing at Page’s arm, but Page fired out of the corner with a shoulder block to take Woods down. Tony Nese made his way to the stage to watch this match.

Woods ducked another shoulder block, but Page hit him with a big boot on the rebound. Page fired out of the corner with a clothesline, but Woods held onto Page’s arm when Page tried to send him out of the ring. Page countered the Anarchist Suplex with a running powerslam for a nearfall. Sterling took the referee’s attention as Page hit a head kick on Woods. Page caught Woods in a small package, but Nese came in the ring to flip Woods on top of the pin to score Woods the win.

We got a recap of the Mogul Embassy winning the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Titles from Hangman Page & The Young Bucks on Dynamite.

Angelico defeated Slim J, Metalik, Gringo Loco

A fun, Lucha-influenced four-way match here, as Angelico scores another win on the way to his future ROH Title match against Eddie Kingston.

Slim J used a handshake from Angelico to vault into a headscissors on Metalik, kicking off the fast-paced action in this match. Loco hit a dive onto Slim J and Angelico before Metalik followed with a springboard moonsault. Angelico isolated Slim J, locking him up with submission holds until Metalik broke it up. Metalik hit Angelico with a Slingblade bulldog and a rope-walk dropkick for a nearfall. Metalik hit a rope-walk rana on Loco for a nearfall.

Metalik kicked out of an Angelico sunset flip before getting caught by a Loco step-up cutter. Slim J hit a splash onto Angelico for a nearfall. We got a series of flash pin attempts before Angelico and Slim J sent Metalik and Loco to the floor respectively. Angelico caught Slim J in a Mouse Trap-style pin for the win.

Sonjay Dutt spoke on his history with Jay Lethal before trashing Eddie Kingston. Stokely Hathaway came in to congratulate Dutt on the work he and his crew did on Kingston on Collision. Dutt asked Hathaway when Jay Lethal was going to receive his title match, but Hathaway gave him the runaround before leaving him hanging.

Rachel Ellering defeated LMK

LMK stands for Little Mean Kathleen, but she was called LMK throughout the match. Ellering scored a quick win with the Bosswoman Slam.

Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) defeated Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson), The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean), The Wingmen (Peter Avalon & Ryan Nemeth)

The Savages worked on Avalon to start. Avalon hit a splash on Boulder, but Boulder repeatedly bench-pressed Avalon out of pinning position. Dean and Kaun tagged in, with the Gates isolating Dean. The Wingmen got involved, with Nemeth hitting a pendulum DDT for a nearfall. Dean fought his way out of their corner and tagged Bravo.

Bravo ran wild, taking out Avalon with a swinging DDT. The Gates of Agony came in and laid out Bravo, but the Wingmen sent them out of the ring. Dean hit a butterfly backbreaker on Nemeth before hitting Boot Camp on Avalon. Boulder blind-tagged his way in and took out the Infantry with a double flapjack. Kaun got a blind tag before Liona pounced both Savages. The Gates hit a double spinebuster on Avalon to score the win.

We got a recap of Mark Briscoe’s return on last week’s Rampage, taking out Kip Sabian.

Action Andretti defeated Nick Comoroto & Lee Johnson

Comoroto looked good here with his impressive power spots.

Comoroto trucked over both his opponents with a double clothesline, but Johnson and Andretti low-bridged him out of the ring. Johnson and Andretti got caught in a pinning predicament before Comoroto came back in and dropped them both. Comoroto picked up Johnson with a one-handed gorilla press while simultaneously hitting Andretti with a DDT. Shane Taylor watched from backstage, having offered Johnson a spot in Shane Taylor Promotions.

Johnson and Andretti tried to team up on Comoroto, but Comoroto continued to hammer them both. Comoroto hit them both with a running crossbody. Comoroto went for a powerslam on Johnson, but Andretti caught Comoroto with a springboard dropkick. Andretti rolled up Comoroto to get the win.

Kiera Hogan defeated Charlette Renegade

Hogan got a quick win with Face The Music.

Leyla Hirsch was backstage with Lexy Nair. Rachel Ellering came up, but Hirsch didn’t want any help from her. Ellering noted that the one person Hirsch wanted help from – that being Maria Kanellis – wasn’t around. Hirsch said that Maria would be around next time, and shunned Ellering.

Dalton Castle, Gravity, & The Boys (Brandon & Brent) defeated Cole Karter, Griff Garrison & The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)

Gravity had peacock gear on to match his squad. Karter and Garrison isolated Brent in their corner, allowing the Workhorsemen to clubber on him. The Boys teamed up to get a tag to Gravity, who ran wild on Garrison until Henry laid in a kick from the outside. Garrison hit a powerslam on Gravity for a nearfall.

Gravity fought off the Workhorsemen before getting the tag to Castle, who ran wild on all four of his opponents. Castle flung Boys at his opponents until Drake shut it down. The Boys hit dual enzuigiris on Drake to stop him. Castle catapulted Gravity into a dive to the floor before hitting Drake with the Bangarang for the win.

ROH Women’s World Title Match – Athena defeated Mercedes Martinez (w/ Diamante) to retain

Another standout title defense for Athena, as these two beat seven shades out of each other and took the crowd on a ride. Athena’s partnership with Billie Starkz solidified here, as Starkz did what she needed to do to keep Athena happy.

Athena jumped Martinez at the bell with a forearm before clubbering her in the corner. Athena sent Martinez to the floor, where Martinez sent Athena into the barricade. Athena fought back and sent Martinez into the ring, where she ran into a main event spinebuster from Martinez. Huh, a main event spinebuster that’s actually in the main event. You don’t get those too often.

Athena flipped out of a spider suplex attempt, booting Martinez to the floor before landing a suicide dive. Diamante caught Athena’s attention, allowing Martinez to clobber Athena with a forearm. Martinez sent Athena into the timekeeper’s area before laying her on a chair. Martinez stood over Athena, but Athena fought her way up and superplexed Martinez off of the barricade.

Both women beat the 20-count before getting into a strike exchange in the ring. They traded big strikes before Athena hit a big forearm to reset. Athena went to the top rope, but Diamante got on the apron to cut her off. Martinez hit the OG Drop for a close nearfall. Martinez went for the Brass City Sleeper, but Athena bit her way out of it. Martinez turned a crossface attempt into a crucifix pin for a nearfall.

Athena dropped Martinez with a forearm before hitting the O-Face, but Diamante took the referee’s attention. Athena dropped Diamante with a forearm before hitting the Wig Splitter on her. Athena pulled the turnbuckle pad off, but Martinez booted her into the exposed turnbuckle in a call back to the Final Battle match between these two. Martinez hit a Perfect Plex for a nearfall. Martinez went for an O’Connor Roll, but Athena kicked her into the ropes where a hooded individual hit Martinez with the title belt. Athena hit the Wig Splitter on Martinez to win and retain the title.

The hooded person revealed themselves as Billie Starkz, who presented Athena with the title. After berating Starkz last week, Athena seemed pleased with Starkz this week as we went off the air.

**********

They did a 10-bell salute to Harley Race at the top of the show. The roster on hand was bowed in silence around ringside.

Next was a shot of the ROH Tag Team titles hanging over the ring opened the show. Fans in the first few rows look excited despite the bleacher areas looking pretty sparse

Villain Enterprises (PCO and Brody King) defeated The Kingdom (Vinny Marseglia and TK O’Ryan)

They showed a video package of the Kingdom beating up the Bouncers in Manhattan, when Marseglia burned Beer City Bruiser with a cigar. The Bouncers were actually sitting in the first row for this match. King and PCO brought their ROH Six-Man titles with them to the ring. There was a few PCO chants early on.

O’Ryan tried slamming PCO but couldn’t; PCO countered with a Shibata low dropkick in the corner.

The hard cam positioning makes the show look pretty good on TV but whenever they cut to the ringside camera crew you can see how empty the upper tiers look.

King chopped PCO to wake him up, then whipped him into Marseglia who was in the corner. There were even more chants for PCO.

Marseglia shouted “You wanna be a monster, huh?!” at PCO. O’Ryan gouged at his eyes. Marseglia fishooked him.  King came back and did a running somersault senton off the apron, then King monkey-flipped PCO onto the Kingdom but pretty much missed both.

Later, Marseglia threw PCO threw to the floor and they made it look like PCO did a suicide dive onto King. King hit the Gonzo Bomb and PCO did a moonsault on O’Ryan for the win. This felt more like the PCO Show than anything.

After the match the Kingdom and the Bouncers brawled outside the ring. Milonas threw a beer at them and it got all over the camera lens.

PJ Black and Silas Young went to a no-contest

Rhett Titus joined the commentary team before this one. Young came out and basically implied he got drunk with some fans before the match and showed a bottle he brought with him to the ring. He said he might’ve done this for a subconscious reason, because this week he talked with a “dork wrestling fan” was excited for his match with PJ Black because the fan thought it could be five stars. I assure you no dork wrestling fan was discussing that this week. Young told a fans his chants were boring and to shut up, which got a big reaction. He said Black hadn’t earned a another chance at Young because he won the TV title before (and possibly because he’s drunk).

Black got on the mic and said he was disappointed because he really wanted to wrestle tonight. He said maybe some of the unbooked tonight. He said “what about Cheeseburger?” which got a nice reaction, and then Marty Scurll’s music hit and the crowd lost it. He’d go on to take Black up on his open challenge.

Marty Scurll def. PJ Black

Good short match. They started off hot with a lot of near falls from both guys. Midway through he did a walk-up frankensteiner from the top rope followed by a moonsault press for two. He’s better than he gets credit for. It sounded like a completely different crowd from the first match. On commentary Ian Riccobani mentioned he wasn’t at the show tonight because he was doing the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Scotland.

Black did a C4 for a two-count. He went for the Wildness quebrada but Scurll got his knees up. Scurll later did the finger snapping spot and the crowd chanted “holt sh**.” They traded nearfalls until Scurll hit the Black Plague for the win.

Women of Honor championship match: Kelly Klein (c) def. Tasha Steelz

Steelz did a tope suicida and just barely made contact with Klein, looked a little scary. The crowd tried getting into this but it sounded like they were just being polite, sometimes clapping over the bigger spots. Klein did a brutal-looking back suplex at one point. I could hear fans heckling both the ring and each other, one fan screaming “shut up!” at another. Steelz did a cutter and both were out for a minute, then Klein came back and did K-Power to win.

After the match Klein went to shake Steelz’ hand. Angelina Love from the Allure came out and took both out and did Botox Injection kicks. ROH has been doing this angle on almost every show since MSG.

Mark Haskins and Bandido def. Jonathan Gresham and Jay Lethal via submission

This went from a just-above-average match to an excellent match in the last minute. A few fans were ironically screaming “maschismo!” before the match. There sounded to be a lot of nonsense in the crowd until Haskins and Gresham got going. A few fans chanted for Haskins. Him and Gresham were awesome together if you’re into the Zack Sabre or Timothy Thatcher neo-shoot style wrestling.

People were chanting for Bandido after a few minutes of Haskins and Gresham, so both he and Jay Lethal tagged in. There were dueling chants for both but the Bandido contingency was louder. They had an awesome and really fast exchange next and the crowd loved it and started banging on the barricades.

Bandido later cut Lethal off in his team’s corner for a while, and he and later Haskins worked him over with submissions. Gresham did a deadlift German suplex on Haskins and flexed. The announcers put him Gresham over as though he has more confidence than ever and acted sort of cocky in the match. He went a little crazier later and went to bash Bandido’s head with a chair, taking everything way too far in storyline, and even shoved his partner Lethal over.

Gresham and Lethal tried a Cornette Cutter but Haskins caught Gresham mid-air and did a Death Valley Bomb onto to Lethal. Bandido did a surprisingly ugly frog splash. Lethal later put Haskins in a figure-four leg lock for a while and Gresham held Bandido off for a while until Bandido power bombed Gresham onto Lethal thus breaking the hold. The crowd chanted “R-O-H!” after this.

The finish saw Bandido busting out a few spectacular moves, including a pop-up cutter that saw him toss Gresham to the ceiling, and a crazy tope con giro to the floor while Haskins wrenched back on Lethal in the ring with a Sharpshooter for the win. Great finish to a good match.

ROH Television championship: Shane Taylor (c) vs. Tracy Williams

Flip Gordon jumped Tracy Williams during his entrance. He used an all-black kendo stick. The match has been postponed until later according to Ian Riccaboni.

No DQ match: Rush defeated Dalton Castle

Castle came out in a matador’s hat. His new “Boys” wore cow masks, which was meant to be a knock against Rush and his family. Castle tried attacking him before the bell but Rush controlled much of the match from here. One girl screamed for Castle.

Castle tried running to the back but Rush chased after him and they fought near the empty bleachers. Not the best look on camera but the live crowd was into it.

Things slowed a bit when Castle went on offense. He landed a German suplex on the floor and later bodyslammed Rush over the barricades onto a few security people. Castle got near the camera and said Rush should be in the seats. I guess he was telling him to go be a fan. Rush cursed in Spanish; Castle threw a steel chair at him. Rush power bombed Castle onto the ring announcers table but it didn’t break.

Rush threw a bin full of garbage into the ring, plus a chair or two, beat on Castle some more and then landed the Bull’s Horn dropkick for three. I imagine this is the blow-off to their feud but we’ll have to wait and see.

ROH Television championship match: Shane Taylor (c) defeated Tracy Williams

Tracey Williams came out selling his arm and called Shane Taylor out. When the match was underway Taylor basically abused him with hard chops and strikes in the corner. Williams tried to make a comeback and did hanging armbar over the ropes. Taylor came back quickly and slowed things down; he did a leg drop onto Williams’ injured arm on the apron. Taylor missed a splash off the second rope and put Taylor in a LeBell Lock. Taylor put him away a few minutes later with Greetings from 216 (Fire-Thunder driver) for the win.

—They showed a video package for Joe Hendry, the Scottish EC3, who said he’s coming to win the ROH World Heavyweight title.

Caristico, Sobreano Jr. & Stuka Jr. defeated Barbaro Cavernario, Templario & Hechicero via submission

This was a really cool match that sounded like it woke the crowd up. All action, no story or anything, but that wasn’t necessary. Everyone looked in the match looked good, too.

Things heated up a few minutes in, as soon as Caristico, Cavernario and Templario were in together. It was all high spots and dives. The rudos did three separate dives to the floor. People started chanting “lucha” after this. Hechicero used a swinging backbreaker on Soberano. Everyone looked awesome, actually. Stuka and Sobreno did simultaneous dives from the top to the floor towards the end. Cavernario tried really hard to get this crowd into the match, especially when it was him and Caristico in together before the finish. Caristico tapped Cavernario with La Mistica in the end.

ROH World Heavyweight title match: Matt Taven (c) vs. Alex Shelley

Ian Riccaboni gave us an impromptu music history lesson focused on the music of Detroit, which also happens to be where Alex Shelley is from, and likened him to the artists he mentioned, great but under appreciated performers.

Matt Taven wore a purple cape to the ring. They started slow and would mostly wrestle on the mat until Taven would get a rope break. Shelley poked Taven in the eyes and did the Ric Flair strut.

Someone was literally passed out in the front row during their match and everyone in the crowd was focused on that. Shelley took off his shoe and threw it at Taven. He went for Sliced Bread off the ring post but Taven shoved him off and Shelley went through the timekeeper’s table.

They did a crazy slingshot to the floor spot, Shelley to Taven, but I don’t know what move it was. It was a scary botched slingshot suplex toss.

Taven returned with a big dive over the barricades onto Shelley into the crowd. The crowd was pretty into the match at this point. Shelley came back with a Bladerunner (the move he taught to Jay White) for a close two.

The last few minutes of this were really good, despite what you’re thinking. Lots of nearfalls and then Taven hitting the Climax for the finish, pinning Shelley clean.

Taven cut a promo on the crowd and called Toronto melvins. People started chanting “let’s go Raptors.” He said he’s on pace to be the greatest ROH champion of all time, then Rush’s music hit.

ROH World Tag Team Title match: The Briscoes (c) (Jay & Mark Briscoe) defeated Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa)

This was all weapons and high spots off tables and ladders. If that’s your thing, this was good, though their recent bout in Manhattan was much better.

Once the Briscoes made it down to the ring the two teams got into it. Mark did a dive to the floor within the first minute or so. They used lots of weapons. Tonga threw Mark onto a table and it didn’t break. The crowd got really excited when Jay Briscoe pulled a table out from under the ring.

The Briscoes set Loa onto a table and then set a ladder over him and did a senton, crowd did the “holy sh**” chant. Same fans in the front started a “this is awesome”chant. Tama Tonga did a few spots where he sprinted at a Briscoe and would just deck him with a weapon or just his arms. Tonga did a shotgun dropkick and launched Mark over the barricades into the crowd. The next spot was brutal if not worrisome and it saw Briscoe get back bodydropped onto an unfolded chair, he landed at a weird bendy angle that didn’t pop the crowd but actually silenced them.

Mark Briscoe was bleeding when Tonga powerslammed him on a ladder in the ring; Jay’s whole face was covered. Mark did a crazy-looking Blockbuster to the floor on Loa through two tables. This also elicited a “holy sh**” and “fight forever” chant from the crowd. Jay was bleeding so badly at this point. Him and Tonga started jawing at each other in the ring and then hit each other with chairs. Jay later did a Jaydriller to Tonga from the apron through a table on the floor.

Despite the building only half (or less) full, Mark Briscoe still dove from the top rung of what had to be a 20 ft. Ladder and splashed Loa through a table. He basically landed on his knees and the face he made toward the camera looked like his soul had just been ripped from his body.

Next was Tonga landing a flying Gun Stun from one ladder to another on Mark. Later he and Jay fought at the top of a ladder in the ring, punching each other until Jay knocked Tonga off. He grabbed one of the belts hanging above him and won the match for his team, and the Briscoes retain. Brutal match, total mess of a streetfight.

Final thoughts —

This was a decent show, but the standout match featured six guys who aren’t even under contract to ROH. The CMLL showcase and the Gresham/Lethal vs. Haskins/Bandido are worth checking out. Everything else on the card was fine but often felt flat, probably because of the stuffy booking, stale wrestling and a modest crowd.

ROH Dallas, TX, live results: Cody vs. Daniels in a Texas Death Match

Image and results courtesy of reader Stew Myrick

While NXT TakeOver: War Games was going on, Ring of Honor was also in Texas last night for night two of this year’s Survival of the Fittest tournament. The show saw Cody Rhodes defend his ROH World Championship against Christopher Daniels in a Texas Death Match as well.

– Jonathan Gresham defeated Vinny Marseglia in a Survival of the Fittest first round match

– Flip Gordon defeated TK O’Ryan in a Survival of the Fittest first round match

– Matt Taven defeated Cheeseburger in a Survival of the Fittest first round match

– Deonna Purrazzo defeated Karen Q in a no DQ match

– ROH World Tag Team Champions Motor City Machine Guns defeated The Dawgs (Rhett Titus & Will Ferrara), Rey Cometa & Esfinge, and Silas Young & Beer City Bruiser to retain their titles

– Marty Scurll defeated Josh Woods

– ROH World Television Champion Kenny King defeated Scorpio Sky to retain his title

– Dalton Castle & Jay Lethal defeated The Young Bucks

– ROH World Champion Cody defeated Christopher Daniels in a Texas Death Match to retain his title

The finish came when Cody powerbombed Daniels through a flaming table. Daniels suffered some mild burns during that spot, but the belief is he’ll be able to wrestle at ROH’s show in Oklahoma City tonight.

This match was set up as the culmination of Cody and Daniels’ rivalry. Cody tweeted after it, “This chapter of my career with @facdaniels has been full of surprises and I am better for it. It ended tonight. Thank you Dallas.”

ROH Global Wars Pittsburgh live results: Bullet Club vs. Chaos

Submitted by reader Joe Kazmer

ROH’s Global Wars tour hit its second stop as they came to Pittsburgh last night. Here’s a rundown of the show:

– Coast to Coast defeated One Mean Team

This was the pre-show match.

– Hiromu Takahashi defeated Mark Briscoe after the match was stopped due to Briscoe suffering an injury

Unfortunately, this only went for a couple of minutes. Takahashi was in control in the corner throwing some kicks, then Briscoe rolled out of the ring. The referee checked on him and called off the match, declaring Takahashi the winner. It wasn’t clear what happened from my point of view, but Briscoe ended up suffering a dislocated elbow.

– Best Friends (Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor) defeated The Dawgs (Rhett Titus & Will Ferrara)

This was supposed to be Best Friends vs. The Addiction, but Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian came out in their street clothes and said they weren’t going to wrestle tonight. Titus and Ferrara replaced them, with Barreta eventually pinning Titus after Best Friends hit their combo finisher.

– Jay Lethal defeated Jay White

This started slow, eventually going fairly long and getting hotter and hotter by the end. Lethal hit the Lethal Injection to get the pin. They both sold heavily after the match and shook each other’s hand.

– ROH World Tag Team Champions Motor City Machine Guns defeated The Kingdom and The Young Bucks to retain their titles

Vinny Marseglia and TK O’Ryan represented The Kingdom here. The crowd went nuts when The Young Bucks made their entrance. The match had a lot of high flying, about a dozen superkicks, and Chris Sabin pinned Matt Jackson with a cradle in a surprise finish to retain.

– Deonna Purrazzo, Mandy Leon & Jenny Rose defeated Faye Jackson, Britt Baker & Sumie Sakai in a Women of Honor match

Purrazzo submitted Jackson with an armbar.

– ROH World Television Champion Kenny King defeated Josh Woods, Punishment Martinez, Hangman Page, Matt Taven, and KUSHIDA in a Proving Ground Instant Reward match

The winner would have gotten a shot at the ROH World Television Championship if it wasn’t King, but King won with two not-so-smooth Royal Flushes on Woods.

– War Machine defeated Killer Elite Squad

Ray Rowe pinned Lance Archer after War Machine hit a double team backbreaker/knee drop from the top rope.

– Bully Ray came out and gave an emotional speech saying he has a head injury and doesn’t know if he’ll ever wrestle again. He said he wanted to see the Pittsburgh crowd one more time if that was the case.

– Minoru Suzuki defeated Silas Young (w/ Beer City Bruiser)

Suzuki got a huge reaction, then had a fun match with Young. Eventually, Davey Boy Smith Jr. came back out. The referee was bumped, Smith Jr. interfered, and Suzuki hit Young with a chair and the Gotch-style piledriver to get the victory.

– Bullet Club (Kenny Omega, ROH World Champion Cody & Marty Scurll) defeated Chaos (Will Ospreay, Toru Yano & YOSHI-HASHI) to retain the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship for Bullet Club

The Bullet Club said they were invoking the Freebird rule, or rather the Bullet Club rule, before the match and that this would be for The Young Bucks & Hangman Page’s six-man tag titles. The match went about 20 minutes, with the crowd going absolutely nuts for it.

The crowd was definitely there to see the Bullet Club, and there to see Omega in particular. The Young Bucks and Page ran in towards the end of the match, resulting in Scurll running Yano into all 10 boots of the Bullet Club in the corner. Scurll submitted Yano with the chicken wing shortly after.

After the match, pretty much everyone stayed in the venue to listen to Cody and Omega’s promos. They taunted WWE and thanked the crowd to close the show.

The main event will feature a three-way bout for the ROH World title as Christopher Daniels defends against both Cody and Jay Lethal. Other title matches include Marty Scurll defending the ROH TV title against Matt Sydal, The Young Bucks defending their ROH tag team titles against Los Ingobernables de Japon members BUSHI & Tetsuya Naito, and Chaos representatives Roppongi Vice & Hirooki Goto challenging Bully Ray & The Briscoes for the ROH six-man titles.

Highlights from the rest of the card include Adam Cole facing Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jay White squaring off against Will Ospreay, and a three-way tag featuring EVIL & SANADA facing Chris Sabin & Jonathan Gresham and War Machine.

Join us for live coverage starting at 9 p.m. ET.

**********

They just announced the creation of an IWGP United States heavyweight title which will be decided in a tournament on 7/1 and 7/2 in Long Beach.

KUSHIDA VS. BOBBY FISH VS. DALTON CASTLE VS. SILAS YOUNG

This was a fast match with everyone doing big moves and being broken up.  Kushida and Castle were the most over.  Castle pinned Fish clean after the bang-a-rang.

FRANKIE KAZARIAN VS. HANGMAN PAGE

Another rushed match.  Kazarian went for a sunset flip out of the corner but Page blocked it and held the ropes and got the pin.  The match was hot while it lasted.  There was a spot where Page spit in Kazarian’s face, Kazarian spit back, Page blew his nose on Kazarian, Kazarian spit in Page’s mouth, but actually go ton his chin and Page then grabbed the spit and ate it.  Kazarian alsodid a dive and a slingshot into a diamond cutter.

WAR MACHINE VS. CHRIS SABIN & JONATHAN GRESHAM VS. EVIL & SEIYA SANADA

This was another very good but rushed match.  Really it was great while it lasted.  Hanson powerslammed Sabin and did a tope on four guys and then Rowe pinned Sabin.  Lots of dives.  Rowe did a belly to belly overhead on Sabin & Gresham at the same time.  Sanada is one of the most talented guys around.  Everyone looked good here.  Evil did the chair around the head and chair shot on Hanson.

WILL OSPREAY VS. JAY WHITE

This was one of the best mathes in North Ameria so far this year.  Ospreay got the win after a springboard shooting star press to the floor and an Oscutter.  Both got on their kneees and showed repect for each other.  Fans gave them a few standing ovations.  There was so much insanity here including Ospreay doing a space flying Tiger drop but White caught him and gave him a brainbuster on the apron.  There were so many big spots you can’t even list them all but it was prefect timing, super hot crowd once they were about 8:00 or so in when the crowd realized how special this match was.

After the match Punishment Maritenz, gave Ospreay a kick and then choke slammed White.  This was a good way to do this because people loved that match so much and how much they gave tghat it got Martinez real heat for attacking both.  Martinez lost to White in Hopkins, MN so that was the reason.

BULLY RAY & BRISCOES VS. HIROOKI GOTO & ROCKY ROMERO & BARETTA FOR THE ROH SIX MAN TITLES

Another really good match.  This was no DQ and  there were early dives byt he Briscoes.  Lots of chair shots to the head, not brutal, but way too many and needless.  Super fast paced.  Bully was super over.  The finish saw Bully power bomb Baretta off the middle ropes through a table after the Briscoes got the tables.  The Briscoes then worked with Bully to do a 3D on Romero and got the pin.  Bully and Goto did the Japanese trading of elbows in the middle in between all the chair shots that Mark and Baretta were taking.  Baretta also did a great dive and Mark did a moonsault tothe floor, a blockbuster off the apron and elbow off the apron among his spots.  .

MARTY SCURLL VS. MATT SYDAL FOR TV TITLE

Another very good match.  It was tough coming off those last two matches.  Sydal did some cool huracanranas standing and jumping on the top rope and another coming off a suplex by Scurll.  Of course Scurll’s big spot was the finger break.  The finish saw Sydal go for the shooting star press, but Scurll go this knees up and then got the chicken wing for the submission.

YOUNG BUCKS VS. TETSUYA NAITO & BUSHI FOR TAG TITLES.

Another very good match.  It wasn’t as long as most Bucks title matches but all action.  Bushi blew mist in Matt’s eyes but he superkicked Naito, Bushi, Nick and the ref.  Naito did most of his stuff.  He did the destino on Matt but Nick saved with a swanton.  The finish saw Nick take out Naito with a springboard flip dive and they pinned Bushi with the Meltzer driver.

They talked about the U.S. title tournament and announced Jay Lethal as the first entrant.  Hangman Page confornted him so he’ll be in as well.

HIROSHI TANAHASHI VS. ADAM COLE

They pushed this as one of the best champions in ROH history against the best champion in New Japan.  Colt Cabana teased Cole  leaving saying that Tanahashi was Cole’s dream match and maybe he’ll go somewhere else.  They had a very good match, not the level of almost any Tanahashi match, but still good.  The crowd was really into it and they did a good enough match but not a great match.  Tanahashi won with a high fly flow.. .

The Bucks came out and teased superkickcing him but isead hugged him.  They called this the curtain call.  The lights then went out.  Kenny Omega was on the screen.  Omega made fun of the curtain call.  Omega said he was disappointed at the Young Bucks.  The same man who tired to fire you is being showered with adulation.  Omega said to Cole that your tenure in Bullet Club and pro wreslting has been long and storied.  In every fairy tail there has to be a hero and haves to be a villain.  Omega was with Scurll.  Omega fired him and they teased Scurll replacing him in Bullet Club.  The lights went on and Scurll was in the ring with a Bullet Club umbrella.  The Young Bucks then superkicked Cole and Scurll had a Bullet Club t-shirt.  Scurll nailed Cole with a hard umbbrella shot and the Bucks both kissed Cole.  They talked about how Cole poisoned Nick whcih was a storyline on Being the Elite.

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS VS. CODY VS. JAY LETHAL FOR ROH TITLE

Daniels retained the title.  Cody had Lethal in the figure four and Daniels did the best moonsault ever on Cody and pinned him.  Daniels had been taken out a minute earlier when Daniels knoked daneils off the apron through a table.  Rhodes kicked out of the Lethal injection and then Lethal kicked out of crossroads.  Lethal did a tope early where he hurt his knee but until very late when Rhodes used the figure our, and one dragon screw, nobody really worked on the knee.  They pushed the idea that Daniels outsmarted everyone enroute to winnning.  Shorter than most world title matches and it was fine.  Really nothing on this show could touch with Ospreay match.  They ended right at the three hour mark so to get all these matches on the show they had to rush everything.

They announced the next PPV for 6-23 in Lowell, A.

ROH War of the Worlds live results: Chaos vs. Bullet Club in Dearborn

Submitted by reader Joel Fragomeni

– Kelly Klein won a dark match before the show started.

– Dalton Castle defeated Bobby Fish

Castle hit the Bang-a-Rang to win a good opener.

– Jay White & Motor City Machine Guns defeated The Rebellion

People were into MCMG in Michigan and Shane Taylor got a good response from the crowd tonight. The match was all action, with Jay White looking very good.

– Silas Young defeated KUSHIDA

Young won clean with his finisher. This was good, though it wasn’t great.

– War Machine defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi & Jay Lethal

Lethal took the pin. The match was good, with Tanahashi working hard again tonight. I think some fans were upset with some of the NJPW guys losing as much as they did as they were really over, more so than in Toronto.

– ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Bully Ray & The Briscoes defeated EVIL, SANADA & BUSHI to retain their titles

BUSHI got put through a table by a Dudley bomb for the finish. EVIL and SANADA were accidentally hit by the green mist leading up to that. The match was declared a “no disqualification match” by Bully Ray at the start. It was a wild brawl mostly. Bully Ray was over huge tonight, giving away the broken pieces of table heading into intermission.

ROH didn’t play up that this was their six-man tag champs against the NEVER six-man tag champions at all despite both teams bringing their belts.

– Tetsuya Naito defeated Punishment Martinez

Naito hit the Destino to win after Martinez countered the move earlier. This was okay.

– Cheeseburger defeated Beer City Bruiser, Marty Scurll, Frankie Kazarian, Will Ferrara, Gedo, and Vinny Marseglia in an Instant Reward Proving Ground match

Cheeseburger pinned Beer City Bruiser to get an immediate shot at Scurll’s TV title. This had lots of comedy, including Gedo forming a “tag team” with Scurll and a “human centipede” of head scissors that got reversed by Scurll and everyone sold big. Marseglia got on the mic and added himself to the match before it started. It was very entertaining.

– ROH World Television Champion Marty Scurll defeated Cheeseburger to retain his title

Scurll submitted Cheeseburger with the crossface chicken wing in a quick match.

– ROH World Champion Christopher Daniels defeated Matt Taven to retain his title

Daniels won with the Best Moonsault Ever in a better match than expected. Both guys worked hard and this would’ve been a great match, but nobody thought Taven could win, even though everyone was into it at the end.

Taven busted Daniels’ nose with a knee strike at one point and it bled for the rest of the match and may have been broken.

– Hirooki Goto, Will Ospreay & Roppongi Vice defeated Cody, Hangman Page & The Young Bucks

Ospreay pinned Nick Jackson after hitting a double OsCutter on both Bucks. The match went around 25:00. It was another very good multi-man match from the Bucks, but more serious with less comedy than usual.

Ospreay was the star of the night by far, and his performance in this match was nothing short of incredible, doing all of his usual flying stuff. He did a double reverse hurricanrana on the Bucks and the spectacular finishing move. I took a friend who doesn’t follow modern wrestling and all he could talk about was Ospreay on the ride home. It was a very good main event.

To take nothing away from The Young Bucks at all, without Kenny Omega their reaction coming out was nothing compared to Toronto. In fact, Cody might have got the most cheers coming out for their team.

ROH Hopkins, MN, live results: Six-man tag main event

Submitted by reader Michael Leach with additional notes added by Clay Link

– Vinny Marseglia (w/ Matt Taven) defeated Shaheem Ali

Ali missed a coast-to-coast as Taven helped Marseglia move out of the way. That allowed Marseglia to hit a swanton for the win. Taven then cut a promo on Adam Cole after.

– Colt Cabana got a pop as he came out to do commentary.

– Jay Lethal defeated Beer City Bruiser

Lethal was very over and won clean with a springboard cutter. Bruiser got some boos and made this a lot of fun.

– War Machine defeated The Rebellion

– Matt Taven defeated Adam Cole

This was very good. They traded small package attempts until Taven won. There was a sendoff that seemed to imply that Hopkins won’t see Cole come to the city with ROH again. He lost to Taven clean and walked out to a standing ovation after Taven left the ring.

– Marty Scurll defeated Ken Anderson

Scurll ended up being face in the match because Anderson is from Green Bay. Scurll hit a low blow when the ref was distracted, then used a roll-up for the win. The crowd sang Scurll’s theme throughout and he cut a very pro-Hopkins promo after the match.

– Cheeseburger & Will Ferrara defeated The Carnies

Cheeseburger was very over. The Carnies had some nice tag team moves, but didn’t come out to much of a reaction.

– Jay White defeated Punishment Martinez

They were able to get the crowd into it after not getting much of a pop at the start. White won after reversing a chokeslam and rolling Martinez up. Martinez attacked White after the match.

– The Briscoes defeated Motor City Machine Guns

This had a ton of great spots and the crowd was loving it. The Briscoes won after a Froggy Bow and a Jay Driller. This was billed as a “rubber match” between the teams, and they said they’d do another match in Hopkins in 10 years after it was over.

– Bully Ray defeated Silas Young

There was a no DQ stipulation established before the match. Lethal and Beer City Bruiser ended up getting involved, with Bully Ray winning with a Bubba Bomb. Bully Ray cut a babyface promo after, saying that he wrestles for the fans before leaving the ring.

– The Addiction & Dalton Castle defeated The Young Bucks & Hangman Page

This match was fun. There were lots of superkicks and spots, though nothing out of the ordinary. The Addiction hit their finish on Page for the win, then Daniels thanked the audience and put over that it was the largest crowd for a show ROH has done in the city.

ROH Milwaukee, WI, live results: Young Bucks vs. The Addiction

Submitted by reader Frank Azzolina

– Stacy Shadows defeated Sierra in a Women of Honor match

These were two local wrestlers from Brew City Wrestling.

Neither Bobby Cruise nor Scarlett Bordeaux was there as an announcer. Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser basically ran the show last night.

– The Motor City Machine Guns defeated The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Vinny Marseglia)

This match spilled into the crowd and to the bar area. Taven and Marseglia took shots of Jack Daniels during the match. The crowd chanted “shots” for all of Taven’s strikes as he promised to buy shots for the crowd several years back. MCMG got the win.

– Beer City Bruiser defeated Punishment Martinez, Shane Taylor, and Cheeseburger in a four-way match

This was a standard ROH four-way. Cheeseburger got ragdolled around and did comedy spots. Martinez was somewhat of a disappointment to me. BCB got the hometown rub and won the match.

– Adam Cole defeated Jay White

Both did solid work here. Cole hit multiple shining wizards and connected with a superkick off of a high-risk move from White. Hangman Page interfered and put a noose on White. As this happened, Romantic Touch (Rhett Titus under a mask) came out to make the save.

– Hangman Page defeated Romantic Touch

This was an impromptu match after the previous one.

– ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Bully Ray & The Briscoes defeated War Machine & Dalton Castle in a Milwaukee street fight

This was easily the match of the night and the crowd was really into it. War Machine came out as Castle’s Boys. The match was announced as a Milwaukee street fight. They used chairs and beer cans, did hoss spots, and there was an impromptu peacock-off between Castle and Bully Ray that popped the crowd hard for at least five minutes.

Bully Ray did a table spot and put Castle through it for the win. He got on the mic and said he is happy to be in ROH and said he is happy to do that kind of match again. He was incredibly gracious to the crowd. He seemed excited to be there last night.

– Will Ferrara defeated Jared Jaxx

Jaxx is a local from BCW. Ferrara refused the Code of Honor and won by pin in a forgettable match.

– ROH World Television Champion Marty Scurll defeated Delirious

Scurll was super over. He’s an awesome, fresh character. He did the finger break spot, and since Delirious was barefoot, a toe-breaking spot as well. He won with the chickenwing.

– ROH World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks defeated The Addiction (ROH World Champion Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian)

As usual, the Bucks were the main attraction. There were plenty of Bullet Club, The Elite, and Young Bucks shirts in the crowd. Beer City Bruiser initially announced that The Addiction would not compete due to food poisoning. The Bucks then offered an open challenge, which The Addiction accepted dressed up as the Legion of Doom — Hawk Daniels and Animal Kazarian.

They had a great match. I’m sure these guys can do this in their sleep at this point. Bucks hit the Meltzer Driver for the win.

– Silas Young defeated Jay Lethal

This was a good match, but it started about three hours in. The crowd was kind of dead after the six-man and Young Bucks matches. Young got the win by pinfall. He’s so agile for a guy his size.

Overall, this was a very good show. The ROH roster seems pretty thin at this point. The Bucks are definitely the most over, though the six-man street fight stole this show. People walking out seemed to enjoy the show.

My biggest takeaway from it was that ROH came to Milwaukee in June 2016 with a show that had Moose, Lio Rush, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, Donovan Dijak, Kamaitachi, RPG Vice, Michael Elgin, ACH, Juice Robinson, and Roderick Strong. It’s pretty crazy how most of those guys are gone.

ROH Supercard of Honor XI live results: The Hardys vs. Young Bucks

Ring of Honor makes their WrestleMania weekend presence felt tonight as the company’s 11th annual Supercard of Honor airs live on their website, as well as Fite TV.

Christopher Daniels will defend his ROH World Championship for the first time, facing off against Dalton Castle. The Hardys, who may or may not be making their last appearance for the promotion, will defend their ROH tag team titles against The Young Bucks in a ladder match. And Marty Scurll will put his ROH Television title on the line against Adam Cole.

Other matches on the card include a six-man tag in which The Briscoes & Bully Ray square off against the Bullet Club contingent of Hangman Page, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa. Jay Lethal will take on Cody in a Texas bullrope match. Volador Jr. & Will Ospreay will team up to take on Dragon Lee & Jay White, Frankie Kazarian will face Punishment Martinez, and The Kingdom will face the Beer City Bruiser & Silas Young in tag team action.

Our live coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. ET.

**********

Kevin Kelly, Ian Riccaboni and Colt Cabana are calling the action tonight.

Marty Scurll defeated Adam Cole to retain the ROH TV title

They start off pretty hot, doing some great back and forth. They were brawling around the ring when Cole tried to attack Scurll with his own umbrella, but Scurll responded by grabbing the television title and they had a stand-off. Cole tried to superkick Scurll in response, but Scurll put Cole’s leg on the apron and laid him out on the outside.

Cole fires back and hits the Last Shot, but Scurll kicks out. They trade a series of spots where they try faking out one another until Scurll lays out Cole with a brainbuster. Cole goes to do his pose, but Scurll grabs Cole by the finger and snaps it in a cool spot. They go back and forth until Cole lands a package piledriver, only for Scurll to once again kick out. Scurll with a umbrella shot AND a piledriver, but Cole kicks out.

Cole plants Scurll with a tombstone, then tries for another, but starts selling his back. Scurll takes advantage by snapping a few more fingers, plants Cole with a Gotch piledriver then submits Cole with the chickenwing in a really great opener. Scurll is really good and Cole is great as being a heel and having command of a match.

Matt Taven and the rest of the Kingdom come out. Taven says they were supposed to defend their titles tonight, but TK’s injury plus that bearded melvin Silas Young. TK O’Ryan cuts a heel promo, deriding those who have been tweeting him the footage of his injury, he and the rest of the Kingdom doesn’t need any of these melvins.

This brings out Silas Young, who says Taven has nothing but whiny ass excuses. He says TK snapped under the pressure and it was him who needed his help, not the other way around. Vinny was the one pinned in the match, not me, and he’d rather have his fists do the talking now. Beer City Bruiser spits beer in Vinny’s face and it’s on.

Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser defeated The Kingdom

They brawl around the outside to start. Vinny Marseglia takes out Bruiser with a corkscrew off the apron. Taven takes out Bruiser but Young comes back and they trade some exchanges. Bruiser and Taven somehow come back with dual frog splashes but both of their opponents kick out. Bruiser takes out Taven with a cannonball. Bruiser is way more agile than he looks.

Marseglia, meanwhile, has a cigar and starts smoking it. He tried to put it out on Silas but he counters with Misery and covers Marseglia, cigar now in his mouth for the win. Fun, fast paced match while it lasted.

Bully Ray and The Briscoes defeated Guerillas of Destiny and Hangman Page

Tama Tonga and Mark Briscoe started things off, looking pretty good against one another. A lot of quick tags between both teams early. Bully Ray is tagged in and goes to shake the hand of the Guerillas of Destiny, but GoD jumps him as they both work him over. Page comes in, but Bully lays them all out and wipes them out with a crossbody.

Bully motions for the Briscoes to get the tables, but Tama Tonga lays them out on the outside. Bully Ray and Hangman Page battle it out. Everyone comes back in and starts hitting crazy moves to drive everyone out of the ring. Hangman Page did, in fact, buts out the shooting star shoulder block. They faces lay out the heels with the double doomsday device, then Jay Briscoe pins Roa with the assisted 3D for the win. Another fast paced, fun match to watch with some really cool spots.

Jay Lethal defeated Cody in a Texas Bullrope match

Both men are out wearing jeans an a t-shirt, with Cody wearing a “Lethal Sucks Eggs” t-shirt.

A lot of stomping and kicking between both men starts things off. Lethal rips up Cody’s shirt early, so much for that. Lethal grabs the rope and pulls Cody into the turnbuckle, ringing the bell and busting Cody open. Lethal uses the bell to dig into Cody’s wound, even wrapping him around the ring roes to really get it in.

Lethal goes for the Lethal Injection, but Cody counters and uses the bell to target Lethal’s leg.  Cody looks for something under the ring. After finding his old face mask, he instead opts to use the table. Lethal fights back, but Cody lays him out and wraps him in the figure four leglock. Lethal grabs the cowbell and smacks Cody with it to free him.

Lethal goes to the top rope, but Cody immediately gets up and throws him into the table on the outside. He soon follows with the crossroads but Lethal kicks out. He next tries for a superplex, but Lethal fights him off and sends him to the floor. He lands the elbow but Cody uses the cowbell to absorb the blow. Cody tries for the beautiful disaster but Lethal cuts him off with a cutter then follows it with the Lethal Injection for the win.

Really liked this match. They did some cool old school stuff and incorporated it into a modern wrestling match and that worked out really well.

Cody gets up after the match and grabs the bullrope. Lethal enters the ring and extends his hand. Cody pauses, then gives him what they billed as the Rhodes family heirloom (the bullrope) as they both make their exit.

During the intermission, they aired footage from earlier tonight where the Motor City Machine Guns defeated Cheeseburger/Will Ferrara and The Rebellion in a triple threat tag team match. Rebellion did a beat down after the match, with Shane Taylor coming out and getting involved. Punishment Martinez came out after the match and immediately wanted to face Frankie Kazarian. They had a good, short match with Martinez winning with the South of Heaven chokeslam. Page got involved here, distracting Kazarian.

Bobby Fish comes out following intermission. He says some of you may be shocked to see me, but he is not done with Ring of Honor. There is a list of people in the back he still wants to face, and at the top of that list is Jay Lethal, citing their match from Vegas.

Silas Young comes out, cutting him off. He is tired of hearing about Jay Lethal, and he’s even more sick of hearing Fish’s excuses. Fish tells him he could care less, then tells him to enter the ring so he can teach him a lesson. A referee comes in, and sure enough it’s a match.

Bobby Fish defeated Silas Young by DQ

They brawled around the ring. Fish bumps into the referee Paul Turner, seemingly injured his lef in the process. Young goes to use a chair, but Todd Sinclair comes in and breaks it up. Silas shoves him for the DQ.

Fish fires back with a spear through the ropes to the floor. Silas fires back with a spinebuster through two chairs on the outside as security comes into break things up.

Volador Jr. and Will Ospreay defeated Dragon Lee and Jay White

Lots and lots of spots to start things off. Ospreay is thrown into the ropes, but springboards and takes out both of his opponents. Ospreay jumped onto the top rope and did a sky twister press for a near fall. Lee grabs Ospreay on the outside and lands a hurricanrana to the floor. Volador follows with a wipeout, White follows suit and Ospreay does the Sasuke Special but White grabs him and drills him on the apron instead.

This was a match where a lot of the time there were just one crazy spot after another, like where Ospreay lands a spanish fly but Lee immediately follows with a strong dropkick. Lee double stomps Volador on the middle rope. Ospreay did one of the biggest shooting star presses I’ve ever see on on the outside, taking out Dragon Lee. Volador followed that up with the hurricanrana off the top rope for the win, pinning White. Crazy match that very much lived up to expectations.

All four men shook each other’s hand after the match, posing together for the fans.

Christopher Daniels defeated Dalton Castle to retain the ROH World title

They start off slowly, just stalling and filling up time. Castle takes advantage early, taking him down but Daniels counters with a lariat and sinks in the koji clutch but Castle gets his foot on the ropes. Castle drapes Daniels on the ropes and levels him with a knee strike that sends him to the floor.

Daniels takes him out and goes for the BME but Castle follows with a German suplex pin. Daniels counters with another koji clutch but Dalton somehow manages to get to his feet. They do several reversal spots until Daniels kicks him in the quad and rolls him up for the win. This was getting good towards the end, but didn’t feel like a world title match and spent a little too much time just feeling each other out.

Cody came out and jumped both men after the match, planting Christopher Daniels with the crossroads. He grabs the ROH title and lifts it high, clearly indicating he wants the next title shot. Kazarian comes in for the save.

The Young Bucks defeated The Hardys to win the ROH tag team titles

After holding the Superkick title belts high, the Hardys gained control of the match early until they tried for Whisper in the Wind but the Bucks countered with superkicks. Hardys gained their momentum back and grabbed a ladder but the Bucks did a double baseball slide and wiped them out, then followed that with stereo suicide dives.

Hardys set up the ladder but the Bucks come back and start brawling. Matt Jackson takes the first table spot of the night.  Hardys are in control until Matt Jackson seesaws Jeff with a ladder. Nick unleashes a 450 splash to the outside on Jeff. Both Matts battled on top of the ladder until Hardy takes out Jackson but the Bucks come back and send Matt reeling.

Bucks go for a double team until Jeff breaks it up. Hardys lay out Nick with an inverted wheelbarrow suplex onto one of the ladders. Matt and Nick battle it out on top of the ladder. Nick hops across another ladder, but falls to the outside and onto another table. That leaves the Matts back at it. They exchange punches until both tilt over to the ropes and slingshot themselves.

Matt Hardy comes back and lays out Nick with the twist of fate, then shoves Matt Jackson off the ladder and onto a bunch of tables. Soon he gets thrown into a table, Jeff gets thrown into a table and Matt wipes out Nick with a side effect to the floor.

They eventually all get back and start climbing two ladders as both teams exchanged punches with one another until the Bucks nailed the Hardys with superkicks. Both Hardys fell to the floor as the Young Bucks grabbed the titles to win them once again. This was a match that had a bunch of crazy ladder and table spots. If you like Young Bucks matches, this was definitely up your alley and the Hardys very much held their own.

Matt Hardy says they have been wrestling for 25 years and he can say this with absolute confidence — the Young Bucks are the best team they’ve ever faced. He doesn’t know how long these vessels can hold up to do this, but he gives them the ultimate respect. They shake hands and hug as Jeff Hardy sings his obsolete song. The Bucks and Hardys raise each other’s hands as a pyro celebration emerges and the show goes off the air.

ROH 15th Anniversary live results: Adam Cole vs. Christopher Daniels

Preview by Bryan Rose

Ring of Honor is live on pay-per-view tonight as the promotion’s 15th Anniversary show takes place at Sam’s Town in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We’re looking for your thoughts on this show as well as the New Japan Cup day one, so you can leave a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to [email protected]

The main event will have current ROH World Champion Adam Cole defending his title against Christopher Daniels, who has been affiliated with the promotion off and on since its inception in 2002. Having never won the championship before, this may be Daniels’ last shot at ROH’s top prize.

Elsewhere on the card, the Television title will be decided as champion Marty Scurll defends against Lio Rush. The ROH Six-Man tag titles will be on the line as the new Kingdom (Matt Taven, TK O’Ryan & Vinny Marseglia) defend their titles against Dalton Castle & The Boys.

For the first time since winning the ROH Tag Team Championship, Matt & Jeff Hardy will defend against both The Young Bucks and Roppongi Vice in a triple threat Vegas street fight. Bully Ray will also make his debut in a six-man bout, teaming with The Briscoes against Davey Boy Smith Jr. & War Machine.

**********

The show is openeing with a Christopher Daniels and Adam Cole dueling promo package.  Daniels was one of the most underrated promos of last year and Cole is a great promo on his own.  So this was a strong package.

Keivn Kelly is back as an announcer with Ian Riccobani and Colt Cabana, but Ian is the lead announcer,

JAY WHITE PINNED KENNY KING

The match started out a little rough, but it turned into a good match. Both did dives and there were a lot of big moves at the end. The finish saw a crossbody off the top, but King did a John Cena by rolling through and putting him on his shoulders. Instead of doing the Attitude Adjustment, White took him down with an inside cradle for the pin. King kicked out right after three.

The Bullet Club (Young Bucks, Frankie Kazarian and Adam Page) did a promo with Kazarian, talking about how Kazarian turned on Christopher Daniels.

FRANKIE KAZARIAN EARNED A TV TITLE SHOT IN A SIX-WAY OVER ADAM PAGE, CHRIS SABIN, PUNISHER MARTINEZ, CHESEBURGER AND SILAS YOUNG

This was one move after another for ten minutes, and was real crisp. Young looked really good in particular but everyone really did their jobs. If you like moves, this was really good, bujt it was just that. They built the match up for Cheesburger hitting the shote taught to him by Jushin Liger.  Once he did that, however, Kazarian pinned him with the Ace of Spades.

JAY LETHAL PINNED BOBBY FISH

This was a hell of a match that was very Japanese style with the pacing. This came off like a fight as Fish used leg submissions, but Lethal would get to the ropes.  Lethal went for the Lethal Injection, Fish sidestepped and hit body punches and kicks, but after a missed kick, Lethal hit the Lethal Injection for the pin.

ROH SIX-MAN TAG CHAMPIONS THE KINGDOM (MATT TAVEN & VINNY MARSEGLIA & TK O’RYAN) DEFEATED DALTON CASTLE & THE BOYS TO RETAIN

The Kingdom retained when Taven used a power bomb on Boy 1 with help from Marseglia. Unfortunately, O’Ryan may have been seriously hurt as he did an Asai moonsault and it looked like his ankle cracked on the guardrail. He had to be carried out and they went right to the finish. Up until that, the match was really good.  The Boys were great (seriously) and Castle has all the charisma in the world.

TV CHAMPION MARTY SCURLL SUBMITTED LIO RUSH TO RETAIN

This match was great. Scurll is one of the best in the world, and maybe the most underrated in the business.  There were a lot of great near falls and unique spots, but there were a couple of spots that were weird. The big moves were Rush kicking out of a piledriver and Scurll kicking out of a splash off the top. The finish saw Scurll go for the chicken wing, throw a ton of elbows to the head, tear off the kiniseo tape on Rush’s shoulder, and use the chicken wing for the submission.

THE BRISCOES & BULLY RAY DEFEATED DAVEY BOY SMITH JR. & WAR MACHINE

This was another great match. The finish was a 3-D as the Briscoes threw Rowe in the air and Bully did the cutter. After the match, Smith Jr. didn’t get along with War Machine and argued after losing. They blamed Smith and there was a pull-apart with Smith throwing security everywhere. The Briscoes worked most of the way and were at their best. This was all action from start to finish with lots of big moves and saves. They pushed Briscoes & Bully as contenders for the Trios titles.

ROH TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE HARDYS DEFEATED THE YOUNG BUCKS AND ROCKY ROMERO & TRENT BARETTA IN A STREET FIGHT TO RETAIN THE TITLES

Kevin Kelly said the Bucks have no belts left but the Superkick belts, but actually, they still have the PWG belts. The Hardys were called Matt & Jeff (not Broken Matt or Brother Nero) and they didn’t use their music so the legal threats probably made a difference.

This match was total insanity that ended when Jeff Hardy pinned Baretta after a flip over the top of a ladder into a swanton through a table. They used thumbtacks including a Meltzer Driver on Baretta onto thumbtacks. Matt also put thumbtacks into Baretta’s mouth and Nick superkicked him with the thumbtacks flying everywhere. There was a twist of fate onto thumbtacks.

Romero put a sleeve on his forearm with thumbtacks and did a forever clothesline on everyone. Bucks vs. Baretta & Romero stuff was great, and the Hardys did all their spots.  Matt did the gimmick to a degree but they did nothing to encourage chants of “delete” or “obsolete”, but the fans did them anyway. The Hardys stole the Superkick belts as well.

CHRISTOPER DANIELS DEFEATED ADAM COLE FOR THE ROH CHAMPIONSHIP

Daniels did another super promo before the match. There was maybe a little too much crying, but the emotion and storytelling was great. Basically, he was crying that he had to win, this was his last chance, and that if he doesn’t win, he’ll never win the title after 24 years in the business.

Well, Daniels won the title when Kazarian turned on Cole.

They did a ref bump and Cole used a low blow. Kazarian came in and held Daniels while Cole went for a belt shot. Daniels broke free and Cole held up rather than hit Kazarian. Kazarian then asked for the belt. I thought for sure he was hitting Cole, but instead he just threw the belt out of the ring. Cole was shocked.

Daniels made a comeback, and Kazarian tore off his t-shirt to reveal a Destiny t-shirt. Daniels used a uranage and three BMEs to get the pin. Daniels bled from being kicked into the post very early in the match. The match took a while to fully develop, but turned into a really good match although it was tough to follow the previous match.

After the win, all the faces (White, War Mahcine, Cheeseburger, Rush, Mandy Leon and tons of others) were in the ring for a post-match celebration.

ROH Columbus, OH, live results: Young Bucks vs. War Machine

Submitted by reader Erik Yonker

Ian Riccaboni and Silas Young were on commentary.

– Coast to Coast defeated The Carnies with stereo coast to coast dropkicks.

– The Briscoes defeated The Tempura Boyz when Mark hit the froggy bow on Yo.

– The Rebellion (Kenny King & Caprice Coleman) defeated Jay White & Chris Sabin (w/ Alex Shelley) after interference by Shane Taylor.

Rhett Titus was out in a wheelchair here with his right knee in a brace and wrapped up. Shane Taylor has joined the Rebellion.

– The Young Bucks defeated War Machine in an incredible ROH World Tag Team Championship match.

This was easily the best match on the show with both teams giving it their all. The Bucks won after hitting multiple superkicks like they did to the Briscoes at Final Battle.

– Cody Rhodes defeated Dalton Castle with the Cross Rhodes.

Cody came out dressed as one of Castle’s Boys, which later led to that Boy coming out dressed as Cody. Adam Cole and Hangman Page distracted Castle by holding the other Boy hostage and them attacking Castle after the match. Jay Lethal and Bobby Fish came out to make the save which led to the next match.

– Jay Lethal & Bobby Fish defeated Adam Cole & Hangman Page in a falls count anywhere match

This went all over the building, which has an upstairs balcony, and was complete insanity at times. Lethal and Fish won with Lethal hitting Lethal Injections on both Cole and Page.

– Kelly Klein defeated Scarlett Bordeaux in a Women of Honor match

Both worked hard in this match and Klein has gotten much better over the last couple of years.

– Punishment Martinez defeated David Starr, Jonathan Gresham, Will Ferrara, Shane Taylor, and Beer City Bruiser in a six-man mayhem match

– Lio Rush defeated ROH World Television Champion Marty Scurll in a non-title two-out-of-three falls proving ground match

The win gives Rush a shot at the TV title at ROH’s 15th Anniversary pay-per-view on March 10th. This was easily the second best match of the night.

– ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom defeated Jay Briscoe, Cheeseburger & Chris Sabin to retain their titles

The fans voted on who would challenge for the titles. Fun match to end the show with everyone in the new Kingdom showing some ability.

ROH Dallas, TX, (Saturday) live results: Young Bucks vs. Briscoes

Submitted by reader Kurt Zamora

– Dalton Castle defeated Donovan Dijak

This was a fun opener. Castle was over as expected.

– War Machine defeated Dirty Andy Dalton & Rhett Titus

Dalton is a local and really good, he’s been in Pro Wrestling NOAH. Great to see him get an opportunity. Titus was recruiting for The Rebellion but of course ended up leaving Dalton high and dry.

– Adam Cole & Cody defeated The Addiction

The story was that Cole pinned Daniels and said he’s in his head. This was a lot of fun.

– Hangman Page defeated Jay Lethal after Cole and Cody interfered.

The Addiction ran them off and Daniels said he’s the next ROH World Champion and Cody will get his from Lethal.

– Will Ferrara defeated Jax Dane, Jonathan Gresham, and Sho

This was an unadvertised match. Dane is a monster and it was all about showcasing his size and strength. Ferrara stole the win basically.

– Bobby Fish defeated Lio Rush in a fantastic match.

This was Lio’s best match I’ve seen. It took a top rope Falcon Arrow to finish him off. There was a big “This is Awesome” chant afterwards. Adam Cole tried to attack Fish after the match but ended up getting a Falcon Arrow on the World title for his troubles.

– Search & Destroy (MCMG & Jay White) defeated The Kingdom by DQ.

Fun, fast-paced match. S&D had this won but Matt Taven hit White with his walking stick.

– ROH World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks defeated The Briscoes in an incredible two-out-of-three falls match.

The Briscoes got the first fall which was standard rules. The second fall was to be lucha rules but The Briscoes didn’t want any of that so they immediately got DQed by hitting The Bucks with chairs.

The third fall was complete insanity with no disqualifications. The Young Bucks hit an Indy Taker on the walkway with Nick Jackson basically doing a long jump off the entrance. Hangman Page came out to break up a pin and then eventually a Meltzer Driver on some chairs finished off The Briscoes.
