NXT UK results: Tag Team titles on the line, Niven vs. Ripley

Quick Results —

Piper Niven pinned Rhea Ripley in a hard-hitting match, Alexander Wolfe made his NXT UK in-ring debut by making quick work of Jack Starz, Jazzy Gabert quickly defeated Dani Luna & Mercedes Blaze in a handicap match, and Kassius Ohno called out Mark Andrews for being a fraud.

In the main event, Moustache Mountain came close to defeating the Grizzled Young Veterans for the NXT UK Tag Team titles, but Tyler Bate & Trent Seven were attacked by Imperium as they were at the brink of victory. Seven was handcuffed to the turnbuckles as WALTER destroyed Bate with a number of powerbombs onto the apron and into the ring post.

Full Rundown —

– The show opened with a look back at the history between the Grizzled Young Veterans and Moustache Mountain.

– Vic Joseph and Aiden English were talking about tonight’s main event when Rhea Ripley’s music played and she stormed to the ring. She grabbed the mic and demanded that, instead of settling things between her and Piper Niven later tonight, they settle things now. Niven’s music played and she ran to the ring and got right into Ripley’s face.

Piper Niven pinned Rhea Ripley after a Michinoku Driver (8:42)

They started out with strikes and Ripley kind of got the better of things with a kick and strikes, but Niven hit a crossbody out of the corner and threw Ripley to ringside. Niven went after her, but got driven back-first into the apron, then got sent face-first into the post as she recovered and tried to slam Ripley on the outside.

Back inside, Niven kicked out of a cover at one. Ripley kept being aggressive, stomping a mudhole into Niven in the corner. She locked on a triangle and worked over Niven’s arm and hit a number of shots to the head. Niven eventually came back with a shotgun dropkick into the corner, then went up for a Vader Bomb, but Ripley pulled her off and covered her for a two count.

Niven impressively locked in her inverted cloverleaf and pulled Niven almost completely off the mat, but Niven made the ropes. Ripley trash-talked Niven and slapped her hard across the face, but Niven then held onto the ropes and hit a crashing belly-to-back suplex.

Both women got up, grabbed each other’s wrists, and traded stiff clotheslines. Ripley went for Riptide, but she couldn’t get Niven up. Niven hit Ripley with a headbutt, then sent her into the corner and followed with a running cannonball senton into Ripley’s back. She then hit a Michinoku Driver for the win.

– Kenny Williams was asked about what he was thinking when he walked out during Noam Dar’s match last week. As he answered, Dar attacked him and rubbed his face in the mud.

– A graphic announced that Alexander Wolfe vs. Jack Starz would be next. Starz keeps being the guy that gets fed to new NXT UK talent (WALTER, Ilja Dragunov, and now Wolfe).

Alexander Wolfe pinned Jack Starz after a sit-down powerbomb (4:04)

Wolfe walked out wearing just black trunks and a jacket, which was very strange, since I can’t remember ever seeing him not wrestle in a singlet, dating back to his time as Axeman/Axel Tischer in wXw.

Wolfe grabbed Starz and cranked his neck, then transitioned into a wristlock that might as well have been a grip of iron. Starz tried to flip and turn out of the move, but Wolfe held on, then quickly hit a release German suplex.

Wolfe turned Starz’s back to mush with a number of Irish whips into opposite corners, then hit a huge pump kick and a big body slam. Starz briefly fought back and hit a few European uppercuts, but Wolfe stopped that nonsense with a Death Valley Driver and a sit-down powerbomb for the victory. Wolfe then demanded Starz leave the ring.

– Wolfgang grabbed a cameraman and took him into a container where Gallus were meeting. They talked about their dominance and how they’d take out Dave Mastiff and The Hunt. Wolfgang then threw the cameraman out again.

– A graphic announced a statement by Kassius Ohno for later tonight.

– A video announced that Toni Storm would return to action next week.

Jazzy Gabert (w/ Jinny) defeated Dani Luna & Mercedes Blaze in a handicap match (1:43)

Luna started out for her team and got slammed and clotheslined right away. As she tagged out, Gabert grabbed Blaze and threw her into the ring. Luna came back in, but bounced off Gabert with a crossbody. Gabert then hit a Dominator on Blaze for the quick victory.

Kassius Ohno video package

Ohno said NXT UK was in distress and someone like him needed to save the British style. He talked about the “Founding Five” — British Strong Style, Wolfgang, and Mark Andrews. Ohno focused on Andrews, saying that he threw a superkick because of Shawn Michaels, forgetting that it was pioneered by a British wrestler, “Gentleman” Chris Adams.

Ohno called Andrews a disgrace and said Kassius Ohno is the best British wrestler in the world.

– The Grizzled Young Veterans were shown preparing for their match.

– A graphic announced Gallus vs. Dave Mastiff & The Hunt for next week.

Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) defeated NXT UK Tag Team Champions The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) by DQ when Imperium interfered

Gibson and Bate started out and Gibson had Bate in a wristlock, which Bate escaped from. He hit a dropkick to Gibson and tried to hit another one on Drake but came up short when Drake moved. Bate came back, tagged out, and hit a somersault senton from the top on Drake for a near fall by Seven.

Seven and Gibson were in and Seven hit a hard chop. The champs worked over Seven for a while as the crowd chanted “He’s got his own face on his ass/Assface” at Drake. They threw Seven to ringside, then hit a combination backbreaker/springboard elbow on him.

Back inside, Gibson locked in a sitting Cobra Clutch, then tagged out again so Drake could lock in a rear chinlock. Seven finally managed to throw Drake in the corner, but Drake was able to tag in Gibson. Seven then evaded Gibson for a hot tag of his own.

Bate hit a running European uppercut in the corner on Gibson, a dropkick on Drake, and caught Gibson on a corner charge and hit a suplex. He followed with a standing Shooting Star Press. He went for the Tyler Driver ’97 and when Drake interfered, hit a double hurricanrana on both opponents and then a suicide dive to the outside.

Seven was back in for an assisted powerbomb, but the referee was distracted by Drake. Moustache Mountain went for the dragon suplex/lariat combo, but Gibson escaped and hit a combo neckbreaker/superkick on Bate, then a reverse surfboard/leg drop combo on Seven for a near fall.

Drake wrapped his wrist tape around his knuckles for a few stiff shots at Seven, who made one last desperate comeback attempt with the Seven Star Lariat and got the tag.

Bate ran wild on both heels, then caught Gibson in a cradle for a close two count. As Gibson went for a superplex on Bate, Seven tagged in and caught Gibson in a torture rack position while Bate splashed Drake. Seven then hit a Burning Hammer on Gibson onto Drake.

As Moustache Mountain looked to have the match won, Imperium ran out and attacked them.

Fabian Aichner kneed Seven into the ring steps as WALTER held Bate for Wolfe to kick him in the face. Marcel Barthel and Wolfe then handcuffed Seven in the corner. They taunted him as WALTER powerbombed Bate on the apron twice, then powerbombed him into the ring post on the outside, all while the rest of Imperium forced Seven to look on.

Wolfe taunted Seven with the key to the handcuffs, then threw it into the crowd. The show went off the air with Imperium posing on the apron and their music playing while Seven screamed in agony and Bate laid motionless on the outside.

Next Week —

Gallus faces Dave Mastiff & The Hunt. Toni Storm will also be in action.

NXT UK results: WALTER vs. Travis Banks for WWE UK title

Taped June 14 and 15, 2019 at Download Festival in Leicestershire, England

Quick Recap —

Mark Andrews defeated Joseph Conners, Xia Brookside got her revenge on Killer Kelly for leaving her alone with Jazzy Gabert a few weeks back, and Ligero pinned Noam Dar after Kenny Williams would not help Dar out as requested.

NXT UK Tag Team Champions the Grizzled Young Veterans verbalized their distaste for the crowd at Download Festival and having to perform in front of them.

In a very good main event, WALTER successfully defended his WWE United Kingdom Championship against Travis Banks, winning clean after a powerbomb.

Full Rundown —

– The show opened with Travis Banks in the locker room earlier today preparing for his title match, vowing that he was prepared to face WALTER.

Mark Andrews defeated Joseph Conners after a Shooting Star Press (6:09)

Conners was in control for the first portion of the match, beating down on Andrews and scoring a near fall around the three-minute mark. He attacked Andrews from the outside, bending his neck on the apron, but eventually missed a springboard over the top rope, allowing Andrews to take over.

Andrews slid under a clothesline by Conners, hit an enzuigiri, then a Northern Lights suplex and a dive to the outside. He hit a standing moonsault for a near fall, then a 619 to Conners’ back.

Conners came back with a sunset bomb into the turnbuckles and a suplex for another close two count. Andrews finally hit Stun Dog Millionaire, followed by a Shooting Star Press for the win.

– Imperium were seen preparing with WALTER for his match tonight.

– The Hunt were going wild at the festival grounds, smashing into some metal barriers. Dave Mastiff walked up to them, saying they have the same problem in Gallus. The Hunt grunted and screamed in what seemed like agreement.

Grizzled Young Veterans promo

Zack Gibson & James Drake came out to the ramp for a promo. They had plastic bags pulled over their shoes as not to get them dirty.

Gibson complained about Johnny Saint making them defend their Tag Team titles in front of a field of sweaty, dirty goths. He told the crowd not to cheer, as this was not a compliment. He called them sweaty and dirty and told them not to blame the mud and rain, because he’s been moving away from them on the bus before he could even say the word “sweat.”

Gibson then berated the music being played at the festival, saying he had only heard noise, not music. He said they’d defend the titles against Moustache Mountain, but would rest up in their hotel until the match took place. Gibson said they would put their feet up, relax, and prepare.

– A video on the Rhea Ripley/Piper Niven feud aired and we were told they would meet in the ring next week.

– A tweet by Saint announced that The Hunt & Dave Mastiff would face Gallus in two weeks.

Xia Brookside defeated Killer Kelly (3:17)

This was Brookside’s chance to get revenge after her former tag team partner fled the ring a few weeks back, leaving Brookside alone with Jazzy Gabert.

Brookside attacked Kelly right away, but Kelly came back with strikes. Brookside immediately went for a headscissors takedown out of the corner and a dropkick, rocking the striker from Portugal.

Kelly came back with some ground and pound and worked over Brookside’s shoulder. After a modified abdominal stretch to put extra pressure on the shoulder (and the forehead), Kelly hit a running kick.

As Brookside took back some control of the match, Jinny and Gabert walked out, distracting Brookside and enabling Kelly to attack her from behind and roll her up for a two count. Brookside then immediately came back with a flash pin for the win.

– Toni Storm was interviewed about Kay Lee Ray winning the battle royal and earning a shot at the NXT UK Women’s Championship at the time of her choosing. Storm said that’s fine — because it’s Toni Time all the time and she’s always ready. Storm said she’d be back in action in two weeks.

Ligero defeated Noam Dar with a roll-up (8:58)

Dar channeled his inner El Matador, attempting to use his jacket to try and have Ligero run into it, but got ignored. He kept mocking Ligero’s mask and horns, then fled to ringside. Ligero hit some offense, but Dar outsmarted him and kept mocking him until Ligero came back with a roll-up for a near fall.

Dar was back in control, then Kenny Williams walked to the ring with a chair and sat down in the aisle, watching the match. Dar worked Ligero over, but Ligero managed to knee Dar in the head off a suplex attempt, then came back with a clothesline and a modified Death Valley Driver.

Dar briefly locked in an ankle lock, then hit a fisherman’s buster for a near fall. Dar looked to hit the Nova Roller, but Ligero averted it with a spin kick, then thwarted another attempt with a kick to the face. Dar fought back, then missed a double foot stomp off the ropes and sold his knee on impact.

As the referee turned away, Dar signaled for Williams to hand him the chair. Williams looked to oblige, but held on to the chair, distracting Dar and setting him up for a roll-through roll-up by Ligero for the win. Dar looked upset at Williams after the match.

– A recap of the WALTER and Travis Banks promos from last week aired. Vic Joseph and Aiden English talked about that match taking place next. They also announced the Grizzled Young Veterans defending their NXT UK Tag Team titles against Moustache Mountain for next week.

– A tale of the tape compared WALTER and Banks, with WALTER having the clear height and weight advantage.

WWE United Kingdom Championship match: WALTER retained against Travis Banks after a powerbomb (8:51)

Banks went for a leg kick early, but WALTER grabbed him in a side headlock and just threw him halfway across the ring. The champ backed Banks into the corner, but missed a chop and Banks immediately went to work at WALTER’s base.

WALTER immediately draped Banks over the top turnbuckle and stepped on his chin, bending his neck backwards and sending Banks to the outside. WALTER worked Banks over with some 12-to-6 elbows, then squashed an uprise of Banks’ offense with a big kick to the head. A test of strength forced Banks into a bridge, then WALTER nonchalantly stomped on his throat.

The champ torqued Banks’ arm, but Banks finally got some leg kicks in, eventually kicking WALTER’s legs out from under him. Banks hit more leg kicks, then hit a shining wizard and a dropkick. WALTER came back with a shotgun dropkick of his own, but Banks moved out of the way, then hit a double foot stomp off the top for a near fall.

Banks went for a Slice of Heaven, but got caught in a Boston crab, then got bent over the top rope and ate a number of crashing shots to the chest. WALTER missed a kick into the corner and Banks again kicked his leg out, then hit Slice of Heaven, but WALTER managed to roll onto the apron.

Banks kicked the champ to the outside, then followed up with a tope suicida and rolled WALTER back inside, but ate a boot for his troubles that sent him crashing into the barricades. WALTER hit a powerbomb onto the apron, then followed up with another powerbomb inside the ring and pinned Banks to retain.

Next Week —

The Grizzled Young Veterans will try and defend their NXT UK Tag Team titles against Moustache Mountain, plus Piper Niven faces Rhea Ripley in a battle of dominant forces in the NXT UK women’s division.

NXT UK results: Battle royal for future Women’s title shot

Taped June 14, 2019 at Download Festival in Donington Park in Leicestershire, England

Quick Recap —

Kassius Ohno defeated Kenny Williams in his quest to proof that he is the best at British-style wrestling. Imperium talked about their dominance and were interrupted by Travis Banks, who said he would face WALTER next week.

Gallus defeated The Hunt, then proceeded to beat up their opponents post-match three-on-two. Dave Mastiff came out to even the odds, sending Gallus packing.

Kay Lee Ray won a battle royal in the main event, last eliminating Xia Brookside to earn a future shot at the NXT UK Women’s Championship.

Full Rundown —

– The show opened with a recap of last week’s Imperium vs. British Strong Style match and the NXT UK debut of Alexander Wolfe as the newest member of Imperium.

– Vic Joseph was joined by Aiden English on commentary with Nigel McGuinness not having made the trip to Download Festival.

Kassius Ohno pinned Kenny Williams after a rolling elbow (7:24)

Ohno was wearing a “Wrestling Genius” T-shirt on his way to the ring. He worked the arm early on and had Williams in some trouble, as he couldn’t escape an armbar for some time until he managed to jump up on Ohno, lock in a headscissors, and force him to the ropes for a break.

Williams got the upper hand with some unique offense, using his speed and athleticism, but Ohno used dirty tricks to get back in control. Ohno hit a Finlay Roll, crushing Williams beneath him.

Williams came back and managed to roll-up Ohno for a near fall, then followed up with a running kick, a dropkick through the ropes, and a dive to the outside onto Ohno. After some more offense, Ohno stopped Williams off a springboard move by crashing into him, then hit the rolling elbow to the back of the head for the pin and the victory.

As Ohno celebrated on the ramp, Imperium’s music hit and he quickly went to the back as the fearsome foursome came out and posed, then walked to the ring as the show cut to a break.

Imperium in-ring segment

Marcel Barthel started out talking but was interrupted by massive booing. He needed a few attempts to start speaking: “Apparently you people think we are here to entertain you. I can assure you, we are not. We stand on that mat that is so sacred to us, to restore the honor of our sport.” At that point, “We want wrestling” chants broke out.

Fabian Aichner continued: “As you saw last week, our numbers have increased. Our union is now complete. You will respect our values. NXT UK, you will obey.” There were chants for Pete Dunne at this point.

Alexander Wolfe then explained why he joined Imperium: “When I saw the opportunity, the opportunity to join Imperium, I had no doubt at all. It felt right to join Imperium, it felt right because this unit treats professional wrestling with respect. NXT UK, this brand is not a playground. And we will, we will protect the legacy of this sport.” There were some chants for SAnitY.

WALTER then spoke and said: “Talking about kids on the playground: Travis Banks. You may have a WWE United Kingdom Championship opportunity, but things will be done the way we want them to be done. And because of this, Johnny Saint made the title match for next week. And look at this group of men standing with me in that ring, we already chased Pete Dunne away. And Travis, people say you’re a brave young man, but in reality you’re a fool if you think you stand a chance against me. We are Imperium and this mat is sacred.”

Banks then came out and told WALTER that he had no problem with facing him next week and promised WALTER that he’d have to bring everything he’s got.

– Noam Dar was asked about his behavior. He spotted Kenny Williams on his way to the dressing room and offered to take him under his wing.

Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) defeated The Hunt (Wild Board & Primate) when Wolfgang pinned Primate after a powerslam/head kick combination (6:15)

They started out hot, brawling all around ringside with The Hunt being the clear aggressors. Wild Boar hit a series of sentons and kept beating on Mark Coffey. Coffey managed to break free with a punch, then Wolfgang beat down Boar and cranked his neck.

Gallus worked well together, tagging in and out and wearing Wild Boar down. Boar finally managed to run Gallus into one another and made the hot tag to Primate, who ran wild with suplexes and back body drops. Primate was sent to ringside by Wolfgang on a charging attempt. Gallus then neutralized Wild Boar at ringside and put Primate away with a powerslam/head kick combination.

Joe Coffey came out after the match and posed with his Gallus mates in the ring. They then picked up Wild Boar, and Joe struck him down with his lariat and Gallus kept beating down The Hunt until Dave Mastiff’s music hit and he came out to make the save, sending the heels scattering as he entered the ring.

– Moustache Mountain were interviewed by Radzi Chinyanganya, who informed them they would face The Grizzled Young Veterans for the NXT UK Tag Team titles in two weeks time. Moustache Mountain talked about having their hands full with Imperium, but Trent Seven vowed that the title match would be their primary focus.

Kay Lee Ray won the battle royal to receive a future shot at the NXT UK Women’s Championship (8:40)

The battle royal included Xia Brookside, Jinny, Jazzy Gabert, Kay Lee Ray, Isla Dawn, Candy Floss, Piper Niven, Killer Kelly, Nina Samuels, Rhea Ripley, Rhio, and Kanji.

Kelly briefly looked to eliminate Niven but failed. Gabert eliminated Rhio and Kanji in quick succession, then focussed on Candy Floss, hitting her with the Dominator. Jinny stopped Gabert from eliminating Candy Floss and threw her out herself. Kay Lee Ray was thrown out through the ropes but was not eliminated.

Niven picked up Gabert in a fireman’s carry and put her on the apron. Niven hit a headbutt, but Gabert held on. Brookside then hit a baseball slide on Gabert’s legs, eliminating her.

Isla Dawn and Brookside then took turns at Jinny, and Niven squashed her in the corner, leading to Dawn and Brookside throwing her over the top, but Gabert managed to grab her and carried her back to the apron on the other side of the ring. Seconds later, Brookside eliminated Jinny anyway.

At that point, Kelly and Brookside, Niven and Samuels, and Ripley and Dawn paired off. Seconds later, Kelly and Ripley got into it and Ripley eliminated Kelly. Niven tried throwing Samuels out, but she managed to hold onto the ropes for dear life.

Ripley rammed Brookside into the corner, then stomped a mudhole into her as she hung in the corner in a tree of woe. Ripley then eliminated Dawn, while Niven tossed out Samuels.

Ripley and Niven finally squared off while Brookside was still hanging in the corner. They traded shots, with Niven getting the upper hand with a headbutt and then hitting a somersault senton into the corner. Niven climbed to the ropes. Ripley managed to get her on the apron but got caught on a running kick attempt. Brookside hit a running dropkick on Ripley, who teetered to the floor, but pulled Niven down by the hair with her.

Brookside thought she had won, but Kay Lee Ray quickly entered the ring again. KLR struck down Brookside with a clothesline and eliminated her, winning the battle royal and earning a future NXT UK Women’s title shot at a point in time of her choosing.

Next Week —

WALTER defends the WWE UK Championship against Travis Banks.

NXT UK results: British Strong Style vs. Imperium

Taped April 20, 2019 at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland

Quick results —

Jazzy Gabert & Jinny defeated Xia Brookside & Isla Dawn, then Ilja Dragunov answered Joseph Conners’ challenge and quickly was victorious in an intense match.

In a tremendous main event, Imperium (WALTER, Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) defeated British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) when Alexander Wolfe made his NXT UK debut, joining his colleagues from the European mainland and helping them gain the victory in this important bout.

Full rundown —

The show opened with a great video montage, analyzing the formation of Imperium and their budding feud against British Strong Style. The two teams will clash in our main event tonight.

Jazzy Gabert & Jinny defeated Isla Dawn & Xia Brookside with Jinny pinning Dawn after a Dominator by Gabert (4:15)

Jinny and Dawn started out, with Dawn gaining the upper hand off an arm lock. The babyface team worked well together early on, causing Jinny some trouble until she finally tagged Gabert.

The Alpha Female didn’t mess around, immediately locking a standing armbar on Brookside and ragdolling her around from one side of the ring to the other. Brookside tagged Dawn and she went to town on Gabert, but also quickly got caught with some strikes by the former MMA fighter.

Gabert hit a Dominator on Dawn, then tagged Jinny so she could get the pinfall victory for her team. Jinny and Gabert posed on the apron after the match.

– A very good video on Ligero aired. He talked about his childhood, telling a story on how he was born with one eye closed and only had surgery to correct the issue when he was eight years old. Ligero discussed how he was ridiculed at school for his look. He chose to wrestle under a mask, as it gave him more confidence and it made him more memorable and made him stand out more than anyone else to the fans.

– Kenny Williams was interviewed and asked about Noam Dar. He said Dar always was a cheater, but it didn’t concern him. He said he faces Kassius Ohno next week and only needs his luck.

Ilja Dragunov defeated Joseph Conners after hitting the Torpedo Moscow (4:48)

They started out with an intense lockup with neither man being able to get an advantage. Dragunov chopped Conners down and hit a standing senton, then applied a brutal neck crank, following up with some strikes. Dragunov hit an Inoki-style jumping head kick.

Conners briefly took over with a few strikes of his own, then locked in an armlock, but Dragunov powered out, much to Conners’ disbelief. Dragunov hit a running lariat into the corner, but Conners countered his second attempt at the move, then hit a sunset bomb into the corner.

Dragunov quickly recovered, caught a springboard attack by Conners, and hit a Death Valley Bomb into the turnbuckle. He hit a huge overhead back suplex, then did his UN-BE-SIEG-BAR chant in the corner and hit the Torpedo Moscow for the victory.

– Toni Storm was being interviewed about Kay Lee Ray. She said everyone was looking for the “shiny-shiny” but it was staying “home sweet home.”

– A graphic announced a women’s battle royal for next week to determine the number one contender for Storm’s NXT UK Women’s Championship.

– A video feature on Travis banks aired. He talked about being very relaxed out of the ring, in a stark contrast to his intense in-ring persona. Banks said he’s very goal-oriented and wanted to be the first Kiwi wrestler in Royal Albert Hall “in about 50 years,” but lost in the UK number one contender’s tournament to Zack Gibson.

Banks said his shoulder injury got him focused and set things into perspective. He said it was frustrating not being able to wrestle at NXT UK TakeOver in Blackpool, when Jordan Devlin attacked him before the match.

Banks said winning the fatal four-way was what he was working towards, and now he has a shot at WALTER. he said it would take more than a chop or a powerbomb to beat him. He said it would be great to win the WWE United Kingdom Championship — and it would be even cooler to win it from WALTER.

– The Hunt were shown bursting out of the locker room, uttering animalistic noises. They screamed that next week, the hunt would be on for Gallus.

Imperium (WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER, Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel) defeated British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate & Trent Seven)

Moustache Mountain came out to their music, then Pete Dunne’s music played and he came out and joined them on the stage. While Bate and Seven interacted with the fans, Dunne entered the ring and was all business.

Imperium came out, doing the Ringkampf pose (which I probably should start calling the Imperium pose) to a blank, white Titantron that eventually turned black to read “Imperium – WALTER – Barthel – Aichner.”

Dunne and Aichner started and Dunne immediately started beating up Aichner, but the man from South Tyrol came back with a lariat from out of the corner and knocked Dunne down. Dunne took back over, working over Aichner’s arm, then tagged in Bate and they attacked Aichner’s arms together.

Barthel tagged in and quickly took over, pounding Bate into the mat. Seven tagged in and they hit a double-team fireman’s carry slam/somersault senton on Barthel. Barthel took back over, then tagged in the champion.

WALTER immediately took over, but Seven ducked a chop and hit a number of chops of his own. After a quick intermezzo by Aichner, WALTER finally hit a chop that flung Seven to the mat as if he was struck by lightning.

Aichner was in next, working over the weakened Seven, including hitting a high-angle Saito suplex. WALTER was back in and after a quick retaliation by Seven, the Austrian giant hit a hard boot, then beat up Bate in the corner just for good measure. Dunne ducked his attack, but couldn’t do any damage to WALTER from the apron.

Imperium did a good job of isolating Seven and methodically picking him apart. Barthel was back in and aggressively asked Seven “Was ist los mit dir?” (“What’s up with you?”). Aichner was back in, locking a body scissors on Seven and trying to get a choke in, but Seven managed to turn it into a pinfall attempt.

Seven finally hit an enzuigiri and managed to tag out to Dunne while Aichner tagged WALTER. Dunne took over, but WALTER held his own. Dunne did his back flip from the top, but WALTER had him scouted well and hit a hard chop to the back. Dunne and WALTER traded high German suplexes, after which both men were down.

They both managed to tag out and it was Bate and Aichner next. Bate hit a jumping European uppercut on Aichner, then caught Barthel in an exploder and suplexed him onto Aichner. He got the airplane spin on Aichner and then Barthel and was looking to do the same to WALTER, but he was saved by Aichner. Bate briefly held his own against all three members of Imperium.

Aichner hit a backstabber on Bate, while Barthel came off the second turnbuckle with a double foot stomp as Aichner held Bate in position. Bate managed to hit both Aichner and Barthel with his springboard double lariat, then managed to tag out to Seven, even though WALTER tried to hinder him from doing so.

Dunne hit the Bitter End on WALTER, followed by a corkscrew plancha by Bate, but Barthel made the save for WALTER.

A man dressed in black with a hoodie and a face mask slowly walked out as Seven accidentally hit the referee, sending him out of the ring. The masked man got into the ring and unmasked as Alexander Wolfe, then hit a Liger Bomb on Bate as WALTER rolled the referee back into the ring. Barthel covered Bate for the victorious fall.

After a brief pause, Wolfe joined his new Imperium brethren in the ring and they did their pose as the show went off the air. Of course, Wolfe as Axel Tischer/Axeman was an integral part of wXw in Germany from 2009 to 2015 and also is a part of the Ringkampf stable/brand, alongside WALTER, Barthel, Veit Müller, and formerly(?) Timothy Thatcher.

Next week —

A battle royal to determine the next contender for Toni Storm’s NXT UK Women’s Championship will take place and Kenny Williams faces Kassius Ohno. Both matches, along with a number of others, are probably being taped over the weekend at Download Festival in Donington Park in Leicestershire.

She said Gabert would take care of whoever wanted to get in her way.

Grizzled Young Veterans in-ring promo

An angry Zack Gibson said they were informed they had to defend their NXT UK Tag Team titles in front of a bunch of sweaty freaks at Download Festival.

Gibson said it was expected that he walk in his custom tailored shoes over a muddy field drenched in bodily fluids while bands like Slipknot butcher music. He said if they’re unhappy, the NXT UK locker room soon would be unhappy and asked “the old man” to sort it out.

– Another NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff video aired, followed by a feature about Tyler Bate in the new issue of Men’s Health UK.

– Imperium (WALTER, Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) vs. British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) was announced for next week

WWE United Kingdom Championship number one contender’s fatal four-way match: Travis Banks defeated Dave Mastiff, Joe Coffey, and Jordan Devlin when he pinned Devlin after the Kiwi Crusher (12:14)

Banks attacked Devlin right away. As they brawled on the outside, Coffey and Mastiff clashed, eventually also ending up on the outside. They ran into each other, until Banks decided to dive onto Mastiff, but got brushed aside.

Some dives later, all four men were down at ringside. Banks and Devlin ended up back in the ring, but got interrupted by Coffey. Banks ended up taking both men out as they were in opposite corners. Seconds later, Mastiff was back in and hit a number of German suplexes on everyone.

As Coffey recovered, he hit a combined airplane spin and inverted big swing on Banks and Devlin, then took Devlin for another ride on a butterfly swing. Devlin recovered, sent Coffey to the outside, and hit a uranage/standing moonsault combo on Banks. Devlin then disposed of Mastiff as he was trying to get back into the ring. He mocked Gallus, which drew the ire of Joe Coffey.

The other three played a round of Whack-A-Devlin and he was sent to the outside. As the dust settled, Mastiff hit his running senton into the corner onto both Coffey and Banks, prompting Devlin to make the save during the pinfall attempt that followed.

In quick succession, everyone hit big moves on each other, followed by narrow saves. As Mastiff and Coffey took out each other, Banks hit Slice of Heaven and the Kiwi Crusher on Devlin for the win.

Next week —

Imperium faces British Strong Style. Ilja Dragunov takes on Joseph Conners.

NXT UK results: WALTER vs. Pete Dunne rematch

Taped April 19 and 20, 2019 at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland

Quick results —

Travis Banks defeated Joseph Conners in the final qualifying match for the number one contender’s fatal four-way. Noam Dar beat Mark Andrews in a rematch from two months ago, when both got stretchered out. Dar, after a brief babyface run, fell back into his old ways, feigning a knee injury and beating Andrews when he let his guard down.

Rhea Ripley called out Piper Niven in a promo, and Nina Samuels talked about wanting to face Toni Storm.

In the main event, WALTER successfully defended the WWE United Kingdom Championship against former champion Pete Dunne in a great match. WALTER got help from Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner, who seemed to form a stable with the big Austrian as the show went off the air.

Full rundown —

– The show opened with a video recapping WALTER’s WWE UK title win at NXT TakeOver: New York.

Qualifying match for number one contender’s fatal four-way: Travis Banks pinned Joseph Conners after the Kiwi Crusher (8:22)

Banks took Conners down right away with a waist lock takedown and kept working him over. Banks sent Conners to the outside, but got caught when he followed him out and was slammed into the steel steps at ringside.

From that point on, Conners took over, scoring a few near falls and submission attempts. Banks finally came back when he kicked Conner’s legs out on a corner charge, then he followed up with double knees to the back of Conners’ head and a dive to ringside. Conners came back with a springboard DDT and the two traded near falls in quick succession.

Banks finally hit A Slice of Heaven and followed up with the Kiwi Crusher for the win.

– Radzi Chinyanganya interviewed Banks after the match and asked him about his chances. He talked about past scuffles with Joe Coffey and Jordan Devlin and said Dave Mastiff was really big. Banks said he’ll become the new number one contender.

– Nina Samuels talked about Toni Storm, saying that Storm was an easy victim to manipulate, that it was easy to get a title match, and Storm was the newest cast member of the Nina Samuels Show. Samuels said Storm lost all control and talked about all the congratulations her fans had sent her.

Samuels said her crowning achievement would be the NXT UK Women’s Championship. The two meet next week.

– Another graphic plugged tonight’s WALTER vs. Dunne main event.

– We took a look back at the Mark Andrews vs. Noam Dar match from two months ago, with Dar injuring his knee and both of them getting stretchered out.

Noam Dar pinned Mark Andrews after the Nova Roller (5:50)

They shook hands to start the match off, with Dar backing Andrews into the corner before they arrived at a stalemate. Andrews missed a body press and Dar got a near fall off a windmill backslide. Andrews hit an enzuigiri, then Dar evaded a 450, after which Andrews slid under Dar and tried a Pele kick but got caught in an ankle lock.

Andrews hit the Stun Dog Millionaire, but Dar escaped to ringside. Andrews followed up with a somersault plancha, and Dar looked to have tweaked his knee again. Andrews hesitated, giving Dar some time to recover.

Dar said he was ready, but then collapsed screaming when he tried to put weight on the knee off a whip-in. Andrews and Dar talked and shook hands, but Dar then attacked Andrews from behind as he turned his back. Dar hit the Nova Roller for the win.

– Radzi interviewed the Grizzled Young Veterans as they entered the arena. Zack Gibson said he was sure every Scottish indie wrestler wanted a title match, but they don’t make the matches and neither do the fans. He said they’d defend the titles whenever they felt like it.

– Nigel McGuinness and Vic Joseph were shown and talked about how people were really excited for the main event.

Rhea Ripley in-ring promo

Ripley came out and said she knows how everyone wants to see her in action, but it’s not going to happen. She said Piper Niven is supposedly a big deal in Scotland, but to her Niven is a wannabe superstar that reeks of fear. She said when Niven steps into the ring with her, nightmares will become reality.

– Kassius Ohno found a cameraman backstage and took him to meet Johnny Saint and Sid Scala. He called Scala “Sid Justice” and “Savvy Sid” and asked for news. Scala said they were about to talk to him later. Scala said Ohno would take on Jack Gallagher next week. Ohno seemed happy about the match.

– A split screen showed WALTER and Dunne preparing for their match backstage.

– A graphic plugged Storm defending her NXT UK Women’s title against Samuels in next week’s main event.

WWE United Kingdom Championship match: WALTER retained against Pete Dunne with a powerbomb (16:33)

WALTER came out to just a white Titantron that turned black once he walked to the ring, which was a cool look that underlines his no-nonsense approach at wrestling and disdain for showmanship.

There were dueling chants as the match started. WALTER backed Dunne into the corner right away. McGuinness noted that WALTER had taped some fingers together, musing whether it was because he likes throwing chops or if he was cautious about Dunne manipulating his finger joints.

Dunne started working WALTER’s left arm, getting the big man to the mat. WALTER escaped and threw a big chop, but Dunne managed to duck. WALTER took Dunne down off a side headlock, with McGuinness comparing his style to Bruiser Brody, Stan Hansen, and Terry Gordy. Dunne got in a dragon screw, which hurt WALTER’s knee and the champ went to ringside. Dunne walked right into a huge chop as he tried to stalk WALTER on the outside.

WALTER hit more chops, but Dunne evaded the last one and WALTER chopped the ring post. Dunne used the steps to his advantage and worked over WALTER’s bicep. WALTER then hit a big boot to end Dunne’s tomfoolery. For good measure, he followed up with a big shotgun dropkick that sent Dunne into the barrier.

WALTER then placed Dunne on top of the steel steps and proceeded to walk all over the Bruiserweight. He hit another chop, but Dunne managed to bend his fingers. The big Austrian then bullied Dunne with some kicks while he was down and locked in a chinlock. Dunne asked for more, then hit a big forearm that sent the champ down to the mat. He hit double knees to WALTER’s left thigh and transitioned into a kneebar.

WALTER escaped and tried hitting a German suplex, but Dunne flipped out of it as he was going over. Dunne locked in a modified octopus hold and started peeling off the tape from WALTER’s fingers, then turned the submission attempt into a crucifix bomb.

WALTER had enough and came back with a stiff clothesline and overhead suplex for a near fall, then locked in the Boston crab. Dunne twisted his way out of the move, hit a few kicks, and stomped WALTER’s head and transitioned into another submission until WALTER made the ropes.

Dunne managed to step on WALTER’s fingers from the top rope, then stopped WALTER when he was going up top. Dunne actually was able to lock in a top rope triangle, and when WALTER tried to powerbomb him off the top, Dunne turned it into a hurricanrana for a very close near fall.

Dunne German suplexed WALTER, but ran into a clothesline next. WALTER went for the big splash off the top rope, but Dunne got up and hit a forearm. He hit the Bitter End, then locked in a triangle, turned it around, and went to break WALTER’s fingers.

As WALTER looked ready to tap, Fabian Aichner suddenly ran out and put WALTER’s foot on the rope. As the ref was handling Aichner, Marcel Barthel hit the ring and clocked Dunne with the UK title belt. WALTER hit a powerbomb for the win.

Post-match, WALTER looked at them, then hit the Ring General pose and Barthel and Aichner followed suit as Antonín Dvorák’s Symphony No. 9 played and the show faded to black.

Next week —

NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm defends her title against Nina Samuels. Kassius Ohno faces Jack Gallagher.

NXT UK results: Qualifying matches, Ilja Dragunov debuts

Taped April 19, 2019 at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland

Quick results —

Piper Niven squashed the debuting Jaimie Hayter in just under two minutes. Ilja Dragunov made his NXT UK debut, quickly beating Jack Starz and giving the fans a glimpse of what is to come from the Mad Russian.

Killer Kelly and Xia Brookside went to a no contest when Jinny came out and introduced “The Alpha Female” Jazzy Gabert, who went on to destroy Brookside.

Jordan Devlin and Dave Mastiff both won qualifiers and advanced to the fatal four-way match to decide a challenger for the WWE United Kingdom Championship. Mastiff was beaten down by Gallus after his match.

Full rundown —

– The episode opened with two graphics, announcing tonight’s two WWE United Kingdom Championship number one contendership qualifying matches. Joe Coffey was the first wrestler to qualify for the match last week.

Piper Niven pinned Jamie Hayter after a Michinoku Driver (1:48)

Hayter, 24, is from Southampton and has been active since 2015. She is a regular with Pro Wrestling:EVE and Revolution Pro (where she held the Women’s title for about six months) and also started doing tours with Stardom in 2018. She has wrestled all over the UK and regularly appears for the German Wrestling Federation out of Berlin.

Hayter started out aggressively, immediately grabbing Niven’s arm and trying to get her to the mat. Niven worked her way out of the move and received a slap, which didn’t sit well with her. A headbutt, flying body press, cannonball into the corner, and a Michinoku Driver later, Niven picked up the win.

– Toni Storm was interviewed by the press. She was asked about Nina Samuels talking about her leaving her family. She said if you mess with her head, she becomes dangerous.

Storm now wants the match worse than Samuels — and if Samuels wants her 15 minutes of fame, she will get that.

– Sid Scala was being interviewed as he entered the building. They asked him about WALTER vs. Pete Dunne and he talked about the qualifying matches, then Kassius Ohno entered and called Scala “Psycho Sid” and was being all amicable.

Ohno asked why he was overlooked and wasn’t in a qualifying match. He asked Scala what he would do about it. Scala said he’d talk to Johnny Saint and get back to Ohno next week.

Qualifying match for number one contender’s fatal four-way: Jordan Devlin pinned Ligero with Devlinside (10:30)

Devlin looked to work over Ligero’s arm and shoulder right away, but Ligero used his athleticism to escape. Devlin took back over, but again, Ligero managed to get a sunset flip powerbomb in for a two count, following up with a plancha over the top and a dropkick to Devlin’s face.

They fought back and forth until Devlin hit his uranage/standing moonsault combo for a near fall and followed up with a modified kneeling abdominal stretch and armbar.

Ligero, with his ribs hurt, got a second wind and came back with a dropkick off the top, but it was obvious that he was hurt and a tad slower than usual. Still, he got in an impressive pinning combination for another close two count. Ligero came off the top with a splash, but Devlin pulled his knees up, hurting Ligero’s ribs even more.

Devlin hit a beautiful moonsault, but this time, Ligero got his feet up, prompting Devlin to tumble to ringside. When coming back, Ligero took a bump onto the top rope but still managed to gain the upper hand as he followed up with a running sit-down powerbomb and another splash, but it wasn’t enough to put Devlin away.

As Ligero went for the tornado DDT, Devlin hit him with an enzuigiri to the back of the head, then hit Devlinside for the win.

– Radzi Chinyanganya interviewed Devlin after the match. Devlin said this match didn’t need to happen, as he already was the number one contender. He said whatever way you shuffle the deck, you always fall short of the Ace.

– A video on WALTER aired. WALTER said he’s the Ring General and usually, there’s pressure on the champion, but he isn’t a normal guy and he never feels pressure. He said he appreciated Pete Dunne and liked the match with him and granted him a rematch because he was the first one to step up and ask.

WALTER said it’s good Dunne was training hard and will be prepared, but he will be prepared too.

– We saw Ilja Dragunov hyping himself up for his debut, which is next.

– Moustache Mountain were interviewed about WALTER vs. Dunne next week, which is being called the greatest rematch in NXT UK history. Trent Seven said that the greatest rematch would be Moustache Mountain taking on the Grizzled Young Veterans for the NXT UK Tag Team titles.

Ilja Dragunov pinned Jack Starz after the Torpedo Moscow (3:07)

Dragunov, 25, was born in Russia and moved to Dresden, Germany with his mother as a child. He started wrestling in 2012 and was trained by Axel Tischer (Alexander Wolfe) and Rick Baxxter in Dresden. He appeared for Next Step Wrestling and the German Wrestling Federation, before debuting in wXw in 2013.

Dragunov became wXw’s first Shotgun Champion, then also won the promotion’s Tag Team and World Unified Wrestling Championship (in one of the most emotional surprise returns of the past decade), along with the 2017 16 Carat Gold tournament, beating none other than WALTER in the finals.

After focusing on Germany for the first few years of his career, Dragunov made his debut for PROGRESS and PWG in 2018 and became a regular for PROGRESS, wrestling Dunne at their big Hello Wembley show in October 2018.

Dragunov’s career almost ended in 2013, as he broke his skull during a WWE tryout in November of that year and was kept out of action for almost a year after that. He brings a unique intensity and almost a desire for punishment to the ring and has immense charisma and good promo skills, which makes him work well both as a heel and a babyface.

Dragunov came out to a sort of Russian hymn, which sounded okay for his character. It sadly didn’t have the intensity of his usual music (which, since it stems from a computer game, can’t be used here).

Dragunov immediately started out with great intensity, grabbing Starz arm, driving him into the corner with a lariat, and proceeding to beat Starz down from one corner of the ring to the other. Starz briefly got his feet up on a corner charge and hit a few uppercuts, but Dragunov just smiled and enjoyed the pain.

Dragunov hit a number of lariats into the corner, then finished up with another one in the ring. He then flipped into the ring backwards and hit another lariat. He enjoyed some offense by Starz, then hit a standing senton. Dragunov did his UN-BE-SIEG-BAR (invincible) chant and put Starz away with the Torpedo Moscow for the win.

– Radzi interviewed Mark Andrews and Noam Dar backstage. They said they were not happy with how their last match ended and were looking forward to meeting in the ring. They shook hands and vowed that the best man would win.

Killer Kelly vs. Xia Brookside ended in a no contest (3:30)

Kelly worked over Brookside’s arm, but Brookside managed to escape repeatedly — only to be taken back down to the mat over and over. Brookside got a headlock takeover, but quickly found herself in some headscissors, which she escaped from by way of a headstand.

Kelly then escaped some headscissors of her own. They shook hands as a way to show respect, then suddenly the lights went down and Jinny’s music played.

Jinny stood in the aisle, then another theme played and “The Alpha Female” Jazzy Gabert came out. Brookside and Kelly bumped fists and made a pact to fight together, but Kelly left just as Gabert entered the ring. Brookside tried fighting Gabert, but quickly got disposed of with a Dominator. Jinny and Gabert then posed in the ring together.

– Johnny Saint announced via Twitter that Toni Storm would defend her NXT UK Women’s Championship against Nina Samuels

Qualifying match for number one contender’s fatal four-way: Dave Mastiff defeated Wolfgang with a running cannonball into the corner (4:36)

The two big men locked up and Mastiff quickly tackled Wolfgang down, then followed up with a running body press for a near fall. Wolfgang quickly came back with some offense in the corner and a shoulder block off the second turnbuckle, then went to lock in a full nelson, but Mastiff briefly powered out of the hold before getting caught again.

Mastiff eventually managed to flip Wolfgang over and hit a huge senton on the Scotsman.

Wolfgang came back with a double ax handle off the top and a huge slam, but then missed the Howling Senton off the top. Mastiff hit a release German suplex into the corner, then followed up with the running cannonball into the corner for the pin.

– Radzi entered the ring to interview Mastiff, but the Coffey Brothers ran out and Gallus proceeded to beat down Mastiff three-on-one. Joe and Mark held Mastiff down as Wolfgang hit the Howling Senton on him. Gallus’ music played as the show went off the air.

Next week —

In what is being billed as the biggest rematch in NXT UK history, WALTER will defend his WWE UK Championship against former champion Pete Dunne.

NXT UK results: Tag Team titles on the line

Taped on April 19 at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.

Quick results —

A number of qualifying matches for a fatal four-way were announced, with the eventual winner getting the next shot at WALTER’s WWE United Kingdom Championship. Joe Coffey pinned Flash Morgan Webster in the first qualifier.

Moustache Mountain defeated The Hunt in a fun opener, and Nina Samuels quickly beat Kasey Owens. In the main event, The Grizzled Young Veterans successfully defended the NXT UK Tag Team titles against Kenny Williams and his surprise partner, Noam Dar, who replaced an injured Amir Jordan.

We never saw who injured Jordan, but it was strongly hinted it might have been the tag champs. We also got a glimpse at Pete Dunne training for his title rematch against WALTER, which will air in two weeks.

Full rundown —

The show opened with Sid Scala announcing a four-way match in four weeks to determine the next contender for the WWE UK Championship, which will either still be held by WALTER, or his challenger, former champion Pete Dunne.

Vic Joseph also said that the WALTER vs. Dunne rematch would air in two weeks.

Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) defeated The Hunt (Primate & Wild Boar) in 7:23

Primate ran wild early on Seven, but he managed to come back, throw Primate to the outside, and follow up with a dive on both members of The Hunt. Primate, none the worse for wear, went for a middle rope exploder on Seven right away once he was back inside.

The Hunt worked Seven over until he managed the hot tag to Bate. Bate hit a number of European uppercuts, an overhead belly-to-back suplex, and a running Shooting Star Press, then followed up with the airplane spin, eventually even throwing Wild Boar onto Primate.

Seven was back in and took over, but the Burning Hammer/flying knee combo was thwarted, resulting in The Hunt taking over once more. But a small mistake was all Moustache Mountain needed to hit a combined dragon suplex/springboard lariat for the win.

– Cameras went backstage for some breaking news, showing Kenny Williams helping an obviously injured Amir Jordan to the trainer’s room

Qualifying match for number one contender’s fatal four-way: Joe Coffey pinned Flash Morgan Webster in 6:05

Since they were in Glasgow, Coffey was super over with the crowd, who chanted “Let’s Go, Coffey!”

Coffey started out strong, sending Webster to the mat, then locking in a tight headlock. Webster actually got some boos when he got on a headlock of his own.

Webster took over with a springboard dropkick on Coffey while he was on the apron, then hit a standing somersault senton. Coffey smashed Webster into the corner a few times, then did his butterfly swing into a butterfly suplex. They went back and forth and Webster hit an impressive running body block onto Coffey, who was in the ropes and both men tumbled to the outside.

After another dive and the Rude Boy Block, Webster hit a knee strike for a near fall. Coffey hit a running pounce into the corner, then followed up with Best for the Bells for the win.

After the match, Gallus came out and did an in-ring promo, talking about how this was their kingdom. They said they ran this city, just as they run NXT UK. Wolfgang called out Dave Mastiff for next week, but the rest of the team held him back and told him to calm down and said they should focus on the fatal four-way instead.

– A video of Dunne training at the UK Performance Center for his rematch against WALTER aired.

– A video hyped the debut of Ilja Dragunov for next week.

Nina Samuels pinned Kasey Owens in 2:47

Samuels started beating Owens up right away and punished her with some submission attempts. Owens briefly came back with some striking offense and even scored a near fall. Samuels quickly came back with a tilt-a-whirl-backbreaker, doing further damage to Owens’ lower back. She followed up with the Nina Goroshi for the win.

Radzi Chinyanganya interviewed Samuels in the ring after the match. She cut an insincere promo about how Toni Storm deserves to live her dream, then talked about how Storm abandoned her struggling single mother and her baby sister, just so she could live her rock and roll lifestyle.

– Dave Mastiff talked with some media representatives. He said that he would destroy Gallus’ kingdom next week when he takes on Wolfgang. As he was wrapping up, Kay Lee Ray walked up and vowed no one in NXT UK would forget the name Kay Lee Ray ever again.

– A highlight video for next week’s Ligero vs. Jordan Devlin and Dave Mastiff vs. Wolfgang qualifying matches aired.

NXT UK Tag Team Champions Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) defeated Kenny Williams & Noam Dar in 13:28 to retain their titles

Before the match, Gibson cut a promo, claiming he heard that Amir Jordan was injured. So unfortunately, there would be no Tag Team title match tonight and he was very disappointed. He told the fans to get their shoes back on and head home.

As Gibson kept talking, Williams’ entrance music started and he came out. He also had a mic in hand and confirmed that Jordan was injured. He said there still would be a title match tonight. This brought out Noam Dar as Williams’ partner — and the fans cheered for their countryman.

Dar and Williams stormed the ring and attacked the Veterans, sending them scurrying to ringside. The two teams brawled around ringside. Dar and Gibson ended up back in the ring and Dar hit a dropkick, then followed with a Northern Lights suplex for a near fall, while Williams and Drake still fought on the outside.

The champs then took over, singling out Dar and focusing on his previously injured knee. Drake caught Dar from leaping off to a hot tag, then locked in another kneebar.

Dar finally managed the hot tag and Williams ran wild, hitting a springboard reverse body press on Drake, then drove his head into the turnbuckle. He thwarted an attack by Gibson, hit his wrecking ball dropkick on Gibson on the outside, then skinned the cat back inside. Drake caught him on that, but Williams was able to turn it into a DDT. Williams then hit an impressive springboard Pepsi Plunge to the outside on both members of the Grizzled Young veterans. He hit a top rope elbow on Drake for a close two count.

Dar and Gibson both tagged back in. Dar tripped Gibson and locked in a kneebar, but Gibson managed to tag out to Drake. They went to double team Dar, but Williams pulled Gibson to the outside and Dar locked in another kneebar while Williams had Gibson in an ankle lock.

Gibson finally managed to escape and free Drake as well. An enzuigiri by Dar later, all four men were down again. Dar managed to cradle Drake for another near fall, but Drake kicked out and locked in a single-leg Boston crab. Dar was about to tap out, but Williams caught his hand and — seconds later — kicked Drake, forcing him to release the hold.

Gibson and Williams traded offense and Dar sacrificed himself to take a codebreaker by Gibson off the second rope. Williams rolled through on Gibson for another close near fall.

As Dar was looking to finish the match, Drake pulled him to the outside and slammed his knee into the ring post. Drake blind-tagged in and hit a running dropkick onto Williams as Gibson held him in the corner. Gibson then hit Helter Skelter, followed by a 450 by Drake for the win.

Next week —

Two fatal four-way qualifiers take place, as Dave Mastiff faces Wolfgang and Jordan Devlin meets Ligero. Also, the debut of Ilja Dragunov on NXT UK TV.

NXT UK results: WALTER vs. Jordan Devlin

Taped on April 6 at WrestleMania Axxess in Brooklyn, New York

Quick results —

Travis Banks defeated Mansoor in a fun opener, with Mansoor’s cockiness sealing his fate in the end. Piper Niven defeated Reina Gonzalez, who used her size and strength to keep Niven in check, but succumbed to the Scot’s might in the end.

In a very good main event, WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER defeated Jordan Devlin in a non-title match. Devlin used his speed and a number of leg kicks to keep WALTER down, but he ultimately fell victim to the Ring General, as is the fate of all mortal men.

After the main event, Pete Dunne came out to demand his rematch, which WALTER approved.

Full rundown —

Travis Banks defeated Mansoor (5:57)

Banks was in control early, taking Mansoor down with arm drags and working over his upper arms. Mansoor briefly got cocky after getting out of the hold, but ate some flying double knees for his trouble.

Mansoor threw Banks to the outside and worked him over, then got the upper hand back in the ring. Banks came back strong, dropkicking Mansoor to the outside, hitting a stiff soccer kick off the apron, and finally following up with a dive through the ropes onto his opponent. Banks missed Slice of Heaven off the middle rope, allowing Mansoor to hit a modified cutter.

As Mansoor got too cocky after a near fall, Banks successfully hit the Slice of Heaven and finished things off with the Kiwi Crusher.

– Xia Brookside cut an incredibly cute, heart-melting promo from the NXT UK Performance Center. She promised to train hard and take us all on her journey. She comes across as someone who could connect incredibly well with the crowd once her win-loss record improves.

– A video hyping the debut of Ilja Dragunov aired. It featured footage from wXw and PROGRESS.

– Nina Samuels was featured in a video where she talked about stringing along victories. Samuels said she wants to face Toni Storm, as Storm is no “leading lady.”

Piper Niven defeated Reina Gonzalez (5:00)

Gonzalez came out with a bull rope, but Niven was not impressed. They locked up, with neither wrestler able to get the advantage. Gonzalez backed Niven into the corner, but she missed on a punch and they kept going with neither getting the edge.

Gonzalez finally used some questionable tactics to take over. As she choked Niven on the ropes, Niven managed to throw her to ringside.

Back inside, they kept trading offense until Niven wiped Gonzalez out with a running body block and a senton for a near fall. Niven then put her away with a Michinoku Driver for the win.

– Kenny Williams and Amir Jordan talked backstage. They discussed the Grizzled Young Veterans throwing their gear out of the locker room last week and said the Grizzled Young Veterans got themselves counted out in their match because they were afraid. They talked about getting their title shot in Scotland soon.

– Gallus discussed how they will soon return to Glasgow and stage their comeback there.

WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER defeated Jordan Devlin in a non-title match (12:32)

WALTER right away started to stalk Devlin — and the Irishman fled to ringside. Finally, they locked up and WALTER threw Devlin around, resulting in Devlin fleeing the ring once more.

Back inside, WALTER missed a chop in the corner and Devlin hit two chops of his own, drawing the Austrian’s ire. WALTER caught Devlin in a sleeper hold, and as Devlin escaped and staged a comeback, WALTER leapfrogged him and almost took his head off with a big boot.

The champ kept working on Devlin with a crossface, a big knee to the side, and another crossface. He hit a big butterfly suplex. On the outside, Devlin tried a running soccer kick off the apron, but WALTER caught him, put him on his shoulders, and nonchalantly threw him into the ropes from the outside.

As WALTER was looking to go back into the ring, Devlin kicked away at his legs and finally looked like he had found some recipe to keep the big man down. Devlin kept working on WALTER’s hamstring with kicks and a single-leg Boston crab. WALTER actually bled from the mouth here, but finally made the ropes with Devlin holding on until the five count.

Eventually, Devlin missed a dropkick as the Ring General sidestepped him and punished him right away with a sit-down splash. WALTER hit a chop heard around the world, sending Devlin down crumbling. Devlin escaped a German suplex attempt, but WALTER threw him high into the air on a back body drop.

WALTER smashed Devlin into the corner, then hit a huge German release suplex. Devlin rolled to the outside, and WALTER had a field day, hitting chops and a big slam onto the apron. WALTER went for a powerbomb back inside, but Devlin actually turned it into a sunset flip for a near fall.

WALTER hit a few chops, but Devlin came back with more leg kicks. He looked to hit the Devlin Side, but WALTER blocked it and hit a back drop driver of his own. WALTER went up for a big splash to finish things like he did against Pete Dunne, but Devlin pulled him down. After a few attempts, Devlin finally hit Devlin Side for another near fall.

Devlin tried to go for Devlin Side once more, but WALTER turned it into a stiff lariat, then hit the powerbomb and put all his weight on top of Devlin to keep him down for the three.

As WALTER was celebrating his victory, Dunne’s music played and he walked out, microphone in hand. Dunne entered the ring and faced off with the man who took his title. He demanded “Give me my rematch!” — and WALTER nodded in approval.

Next week —

The first batch of matches from Glasgow and presumably (unless they changed matches from the order they were taped in) the WALTER vs. Dunne rematch.

NXT UK results: Pete Dunne addresses his loss to WALTER

Rhea Ripley defeated Kacy Catanzaro and beat on her some more after the match. As Ripley berated Catanzaro backstage after, Piper Niven once again confronted Ripley.

Amir Jordan & Kenny Williams got an unsatisfying win over NXT UK Tag Team Champions The Grizzled Young Veterans when the champs decided to walk out and take the countout loss.

After the matches, Pete Dunne spoke out and demanded his rematch with new WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER.

Full rundown —

A graphic announced our main event and it was also promised that we’d hear from Pete Dunne in the wake of his loss to WALTER at NXT TakeOver: New York.

The Coffey Brothers (Joe & Mark Coffey) defeated Raul Mendoza & Humberto Carrillo in 5:44 after a lariat

Carrillo showed off his athleticism early on but got pounced into the corner by Joe Coffey after a failed moonsault attempt. The Coffeys took over from there and Joe did his butterfly spin into a butterfly suplex.

Carrillo managed a hot tag and Mendoza ran wild for a bit on both heels. Mendoza and Carrillo hit stereo dives to opposite sides of the ring, taking out both Coffeys. They hit a beautiful moonsault/450 combination on Mark Coffey, but Joe made the save. Seconds later, Joe hit his lariat for the win.

– A recap of WALTER vs. Dunne aired with members of the roster giving their opinion. Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner said they had no opinion. Jordan Devlin said he couldn’t care less about a rematch between WALTER and Dunne. WALTER walked up to him and they had a brief staredown.

“Bomber” Dave Mastiff defeated Kona Reeves in 4:35 after a cannonball senton

They locked up and Reeves actually pushed Mastiff into the corner. They fought for position for a while and Mastiff finally took him down. Mastiff applied his kneeling abdominal stretch and rained down elbows on Reeves.

Mastiff went for the cannonball into the corner, but Reeves fled to ringside. Reeves actually had Mastiff in a submission, but he escaped, hit a running crossbody and a deadlift German suplex, then a missile dropkick into the corner. Mastiff followed with the cannonball senton into the corner for the win.

– Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster talked about Moustache Mountain.

– Radzi interviewed Mastiff as he went backstage. He was confronted by Wolfgang. They traded words and started shoving each other, but they were broken up before anything could happen.

Rhea Ripley defeated Kacy Catanzaro in 3:19 after hitting Riptide

Catanzaro showed off her athleticism, but Ripley rag-dolled her around. Ripley hit a delayed vertical suplex and held up Catanzaro for a long time. Catanzaro staged a brief comeback. She got caught off a body press but managed to turn it into a small package for a near fall. Ripley then quickly hit the Riptide for the win.

After the match, Ripley got back in the ring, locked Catanzaro in her inverted cloverleaf, and picked her up with the move, which looked impressive.

– Backstage, Ripley further confronted Catanzaro and started berating her, but Piper Niven walked up and Ripley walked off.

– Radzi tried to interview Jinny, but she just stared at him and walked off.

Non-title match: Amir Jordan & Kenny Williams defeated NXT UK Tag Team Champions The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) in 11:20 by countout

Gibson cut a promo, talking about how The Grizzled Young Veterans were the best tag team anywhere and the NXT UK Tag Team titles would soon be the most important titles in WWE.

Jordan looked good against both champions early on. Williams looked to pick up where his partner left off, but Gibson pulled Drake to safety at ringside. Williams ran wild for a bit but eventually was overwhelmed again by the heels.

Gibson threw Williams into the barriers on the outside, then locked in his sitting Cobra Clutch. Drake tagged in and further worked over Williams. Williams briefly managed to attack Gibson on the apron, who fell to ringside and grabbed at his only recently healed ear. Williams finally made the hot tag and Jordan ran wild on Drake.

Gibson waved Drake off, still grabbing his ear on the outside, but still managed to make the save on a pin attempt by Jordan and Williams. Jordan hit the Swanton Bombay, but Gibson pulled Drake to the outside while he was being covered.

Drake wanted to get back in the ring, but Gibson pulled him away and the champs walked off, taking the countout loss.

Pete Dunne speaks

Dunne said he would not walk away after just one loss. They showed clips of Dunne at various NXT and WWE events over the past two years. Dunne talked about all his successes: winning the WWE UK title, main eventing TakeOver, being on top in NXT, and being in the Royal Rumble and on Raw.

Dunne said he knew what it meant to be a champion and asked WALTER for a rematch.

Full rundown —

The show opened with a video hyping the Toni Storm vs. Jinny NXT UK Women’s Championship match that would headline tonight’s episode.

Travis Banks pinned Kassius Ohno in 14:45 after a sit-down pin combination

They started out slow and Banks frustrated Ohno with a headlock. Ohno teased going for a shoulder block, but instead stomped Banks’ foot. Banks came back with leg kicks that hurt Ohno and he fled into the ropes.

They went to ringside and Banks escaped a powerbomb attempt onto the apron, then retaliated with a running soccer kick off the apron, hitting Ohno square in the jaw, but missed the double foot stomp to the outside.

Ohno took over with a leg drop and went to the top but missed out on a moonsault, allowing Banks to hit a number of kicks to the chest of a kneeling Ohno. Ohno twisted Banks’ ankle, then hit a hard knee to Banks’ previously injured shoulder. Ohno repeatedly attacked Banks as he was trying to recover and beat him down time and time again.

Ohno flipped over the ropes and Banks kicked him to ringside, then followed with a dive that took both men down. Banks recovered first, and after some more offense, managed to hit a double foot stomp into the corner back in the ring. Just seconds later, Banks almost had the win with a victory roll.

Banks pulled off the Kiwi Crusher, but it was only enough for another near fall. Ohno went for the ripcord elbow, but Banks turned it into a backslide for another near fall. Banks wouldn’t let up and transitioned into a number of pinning combinations, eventually catching Ohno with a sit-down pin for the win.

– A replay of Piper Niven confronting Rhea Ripley from last week aired.

– A recap of WALTER beating Pete Dunne for the WWE UK Championship at NXT TakeOver: New York also aired.

– Radzi Chinyanganya interviewed Jordan Devlin about a rematch between Dunne and WALTER. Devlin said Dunne was a loser and Devlin deserved a title match with WALTER.

Piper Niven pinned Killer Kelly in 3:33 after a Michinoku driver

Niven threw Kelly down with ease immediately, then put out her hand and helped her back up to her feet. Kelly locked on a cravat, but Niven threw her off after a few seconds, then slammed her down and hit a senton and running splash at a sitting Kelly.

Kelly came back with a choke but got thrown off, then got hit with a running cannonball in the corner and finally put away with a Michinoku driver.

Ripley ran down to the ring and was about to slide in, but Niven saw her coming and Ripley stopped in her tracks on her way into the ring. They had another staredown, with Niven on the apron and Ripley walking slowly backwards up the entrance.

– The Moustache Mountain interview from last week re-aired.

– The Grizzled Young Veterans cut a backstage promo. Zack Gibson said he should be home in Liverpool to support his club, but Johnny Saint forced them to fly to the United States. He offered the Yanks a non-title opportunity.

Joseph Conners pinned Jack Starz in 4:56 after hitting Don’t Look Down

Conners worked over Starz’s arm, but the young man quickly came back with some impressive offense, hitting a suplex and trying for an armbar. Conners worked his way back to his feet and hit a flying shoulder block off the top rope.

Conners hit a number of elbow drops, then started working over Starz’s neck. He hit another elbow, then yelled at the referee to “ask him if he’s OK!” He tossed Starz across the ring, then hit a short clothesline.

Starz briefly fought back and hit a high crossbody off the top rope, but Conners rolled through on the move, picked Starz up, and hit Don’t Look Down for the win.

– Toni Storm and Jinny were shown preparing backstage.

– A video on Dave Mastiff aired, with the word “Soon” on the screen.

NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm defeated Jinny in 10:34 to retain her title

The announcers talked about Jinny attacking Storm last week and also how she beat Storm for the PROGRESS Women’s title last year.

They went at it right out of the gate with a brief Frye-Takayama spot. They evaded each other’s offense, but Storm eventually hit a running dropkick for a two count. The Australian then immediately transitioned into a single-leg Boston crab, then a modified STF, but Jinny eventually got to the ropes.

Jinny hit a dragon screw off a kick attempt and locked on her mat-based modified surfboard. When that didn’t make Storm quit, she locked on a Camel Clutch, but Storm reversed it into the same surfboard variant Jinny had tried just moments earlier. Jinny escaped and hit a running hurricanrana, then a flatliner into the corner for a near fall.

Jinny progressively worked over Storm’s lower back, which she injured last fall. She wore Storm down with a choke — and to make matters worse, the referee didn’t see when she briefly touched the rope with her foot.

Jinny slapped Storm, but she got caught in a waistlock and was hit by three consecutive German suplexes. Storm followed up with a running hip attack into the corner, but Jinny managed to escape an attempt at Storm Zero.

Jinny hit a powerbomb, but it was too close to the rope and Storm managed to touch the rope with the tip of her boot. Jinny then tried going for Storm Zero, but Storm hit her with a headbutt for a near fall of her own. They traded elbows. Jinny went for another hurricanrana, but Storm caught her and switched the move into a powerbomb, then hit Storm Zero for the win.

Next week —

The Grizzled Young Veterans will be in action, plus more matches from the NXT UK tapings from WrestleMania Axxess.

NXT UK results: Trent Seven vs. Joe Coffey, Kay Lee Ray debuts

Quick results —

Amir Jordan & Kenny Williams narrowly defeated Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel, with Williams rolling up Aichner. This seems to set up Jordan & Williams as the next challengers for the NXT UK Tag Team titles, even though the Grizzled Young Veterans disputed that claim in an in-ring segment later in the show.

Kay Lee Ray made her in-ring debut on NXT UK, beating Isla Dawn. Jinny attacked Toni Storm and left her laying before their match next week.

In the main event, Joe Coffey bested Trent Seven and submitted him after working over his back for much of the match.

Full rundown —

The episode opened with a graphic advertising Pete Dunne defending the WWE UK Championship against WALTER this Friday at NXT TakeOver: New York.

Amir Jordan & Kenny Williams beat Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel in 7:58 when Williams rolled up Aichner for the win

Barthel and Jordan started it off, with Barthel teasing his “NEIN!” spot but instead opting to school Jordan on the mat and work over his arm. Jordan hit two dropkicks and decided to do his dance, drawing the ire of Barthel and eating a double strike to the throat for his disrespect of the mat.

Both men tagged out and Williams sent Aichner to the outside with a hurricanrana. Williams wanted to follow, but Barthel told him “NEIN!” and Aichner hit both faces with a double clothesline from behind.

Barthel hung Jordan head-down over the ropes and Barthel and Aichner hit a double dropkick at him, with Barthel in the ring and Aichner running over on the outside and hitting one on the apron. After a hot tag, Williams hit a springboard back elbow on Barthel and a flying kick on Aichner.

Barthel went for the Landungsbrücken suplex, but Williams hit a bulldog to counter out of it. Williams then hit a kick through the ropes on AIchner — but as he skinned the cat back inside, Barthel hit him with a kick and sent him outside. Jordan went to hit a crossbody on Aichner on the outside, but Aichner caught him and hit a backbreaker.

The finish came as Aichner had Williams up for a vertical suplex, but Williams kneed him in the head and managed a flash pin with a quick roll-up.

– Radzi Chinyanganya interviewed Rhea Ripley as she entered the building and quizzed her on Piper Niven. Ripley said she’ll destroy her. Niven makes her NXT UK in-ring debut next week.

– Radzi talked to Johnny Saint and Sid Scala, but they were interrupted by Jordan Devlin. Devlin asked how WALTER could walk in and just be gifted a title match while he had to sit on the sidelines. Scala gave him a non-answer and Devlin said he’ll be watching TakeOver very closely.

Kay Lee Ray pinned Isla Dawn after a Gory Bomb

Kay Lee Ray started out by working over Dawn’s arm, but Dawn managed to counter out of the hold. They traded near falls early on — until KLR hit a kick, locked on a hammerlock, and drove Dawn into the corner. She transitioned a modified Fujiwara armbar into an armbar, but Dawn managed to escape once more.

KLR was in control after some creative offense and a dive to the outside. Dawn came back with a belly-to-back suplex for a near fall but ate a chop and superkick for her troubles. KLR then hit the Gory Bomb for the victory.

– Radzi interviewed Toni Storm backstage, but she quickly was attacked by Jinny, who viciously beat her down. Storm was down and the referees called for help.

– Travis Banks talked about looking up to Kassius Ohno years ago. He challenged him for a match down the line.

Grizzled Young Veterans in-ring segment

The NXT UK Tag Team Champions came out wearing nice suits and ties. The fans had their shoes off — because they hate Gibson. Gibson introduced the team and said they were not dressed to compete because Gibson was not medically cleared to wrestle, blaming Oney Lorcan for busting up his eardrum.

Gibson said fans, wrestlers, and even Vic Joseph talked about how they have a chip on their shoulder. He said they had been overlooked while others were given opportunities. He said Amir Jordan & Kenny Williams got one lucky victory and there are already rumors they may be champions. He asked on what grounds that would be the case and said they hadn’t been in the business for five minutes.

Gibson said he and Drake would soon be recognized as the most important champions anywhere.

– A graphic confirmed Travis Banks would face Kassius Ohno next week.

Joe Coffey submitted Trent Seven in 14:13 with a Boston crab

They traded body shots early and took each other down with tackles. Seven hit a DDT after Coffey tried to duck a chop. They ended up outside, where Coffey drove Seven into the barriers. He slammed Seven on top of them, then bent Seven’s back around the ring post.

Coffey applied a shoulder lock and worked over Seven’s back on top of that, then applied a bear hug to further weaken his opponent.

Seven eventually made his comeback with a dragon suplex and a slam, then hit a plancha to the outside. He tried a spinning somersault plancha from the top, but Coffey evaded him and Seven landed on his already injured back. Coffey hit a lariat, a German suplex, a pounce into the corner, and a powerbomb for a close near fall. Coffey tried to pick up Seven for another powerbomb, but Seven took him down and applied the figure four leg lock.

Coffey finally made the ropes as Seven kept punching his knee. Both men battled on the apron and Seven finally managed to back body drop Coffey, prompting the Scot to crash hard to the mats at ringside.

Seven ended up on the outside as well and barely beat the 10 count to make it back in. Coffey hit an uppercut but missed a crossbody off the top. Seven used this opportunity to hit the Seven Star Lariat, but Coffey managed to kick out. Seven went for the Torture Rack. His back gave out and Coffey hit a powerbomb, but Seven kicked out once more.

Coffey then locked in a single-leg Boston crab. Seven struggled to make the ropes, but Coffey transitioned into a full Boston crab and Seven had no option but to eventually tap.

– The show closed out with a great video for the WWE UK title match between Pete Dunne and WALTER this Friday at TakeOver: New York

Next week —

Toni Storm faces Jinny, Piper Niven debuts, and Kassius Ohno takes on Travis Banks.

NXT UK results: Pete Dunne-WALTER contract signing

Quick results —

Jordan Devlin defeated Dan Moloney in a fun opener. Kassius Ohno talked about why he attacked Amir Jordan after their match last week, then ran down Travis Banks.

Rhea Ripley defeated Xia Brookside in a hard-fought match in which Brookside showed a lot of heart. As Ripley proclaimed to be the dominant woman in NXT UK, Piper Niven made her first appearance on NXT UK television to dispute that claim.

Mark Andrews and Noam Dar fought to a no contest, when an inverted rana by Andrews went awry, rendering both men unable to continue.

In the main event segment, Pete Dunne and WALTER signed the contract for their WWE United Kingdom Championship match at NXT TakeOver: New York.

Full rundown —

The show opened with a graphic announcing that Pete Dunne and WALTER would be signing the contract tonight for their upcoming WWE UK Championship match at NXT TakeOver: New York.

Jordan Devlin pinned Dan Moloney in 4:28 after a backdrop driver

Devlin took over right away and toyed with Moloney for a bit. Moloney came back by throwing Devlin into the corner and hitting a few chops and punches, but Devlin quickly turned things back around with his uranage/standing moonsault combination for a two count.

Moloney staged another comeback as he hit a high back body drop and threw Devlin to ringside, but the Irishman snapped Moloney’s neck on the rope and hit a springboard cutter for another two count. Devlin then stopped Moloney with a headbutt and hit his pull-up backdrop driver for the win.

Kassius Ohno addressed his actions from last week

Kassius Ohno came out with a mic and said that NXT UK management told him to come out and explain his actions from last week. He said he wanted to make sure he didn’t come off phony and staged, so he read a totally phony apology off his smartphone.

Ohno said he shouldn’t have revived Amir Jordan just to knock him out again, but it just felt so good to do so. He said he could have gone anywhere, but chose to come to NXT UK. He said “some kid” came out after his match last week, a guy from New Zealand “mimicking a wrestler,” Travis Banks. Ohno has his eyes set on the prize — and if the Kiwi Buzzsaw ever found himself opposite Ohno in a ring, he would be a broken little buzzsaw.

– A video of Dave Mastiff in the gym aired. He talked about growing up and said he had to prove himself and never show weakness. Mastiff said that’s what he still does to this day.

– A graphic announced Toni Storm would defend her NXT UK Women’s Championship against Jinny in two weeks.

– A video of Jinny from the WWE tryouts in India aired. She said WWE chose her and not Storm to attend the tryouts, because Jinny was a better wrestler and the people needed a hero, which was her, not Storm.

Rhea Ripley pinned Xia Brookside in 7:21 after Riptide

Ripley laughed at Brookside, while Brookside looked a bit concerned. Ripley threw her around in the beginning, but Brookside briefly came back with a standing headlock. She got overwhelmed quickly, as Ripley slammed her and kept working her over.

Ripley hit a prolonged vertical suplex for a near fall. As she tried another suplex shortly afterwards, Brookside turned the attempt into a small package for a two count, then followed up with a number of dropkicks. Ripley eventually plucked her out of mid-air and tried her inverted cloverleaf, but Brookside made the ropes before she could apply the hold. Brookside then followed up with a twirling headscissors and double knees to the back of the head, sending Ripley head-first into the turnbuckles.

Brookside went to the top, but Ripley attacked her and went for a superplex. Brookside escaped from that attempt, put Ripley in the Tree of Woe, and hit a basement dropkick, then sent her to ringside and followed up with a high crossbody off the top to the outside.

Back in the ring, Brookside hit a top rope codebreaker for a near fall, and Ripley looked to be in trouble. Brookside went for a crucifix into a sunset flip, but Ripley wouldn’t budge and picked her up from the mat, then hit Riptide for the victory.

After the match, Ripley cut a promo, asking Brookside if she was serious. Ripley said she showed Brookside what her nightmare really was. Ripley said she was the dominant woman in NXT UK. At that point, the music of Piper Niven, the woman formerly known as Viper, hit and she came out as Ripley looked on in disbelief.

Ripley quickly left the ring as Niven entered. She looked at Ripley and said “The most dominant woman in NXT UK? Not anymore!”

– Radzi Chinyanganya found Isla Dawn backstage and asked her about what she makes of Niven. Dawn was quickly interrupted by Kay Lee Ray, who told her that them all being from Scotland doesn’t mean they’re all friends. Kay Lee Ray told Dawn that she might be next.

– A special look on WALTER aired, using footage from matches in PROGRESS, wXw, and NXT UK. A number of people — such as Aleister Black, Dave Mastiff, Drake Wuertz, and Robbie Brookside — commented on WALTER’s style and progress as a wrestler over the past few years.

– Radzi interviewed Trent Seven, asking him about the recent comments by Joe Coffey where Coffey referred to him as “dead weight.” Seven said that the Seven Nation Army was behind him and he was looking forward to shutting Coffey up.

– Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner were shown backstage, looking at a smartphone and being livid. They talked to each other in German and said “look at those to idiots.” Barthel prompted Aichner to turn the phone around, displaying the video of Kenny Williams and Amir Jordan in the gym from last week’s episode.

Barthel and Aichner said that there was nothing funny about the wrestling business and that it meant a lot more to them than to any of the fans. They proclaimed they would go through Jordan and Williams if that’s what it takes to get ahead. Barthel and Aichner said that to them, the mat is sacred.

Mark Andrews and Noam Dar went to a no contest in 12:35

Dar worked over Andrews’ arm and backed him into a corner. They tried to one-up each other, with each wrestler avoiding the others’ moves. After some back and forth, Dar crotched Andrews on the top rope and went for a quick cover. After some offense by Dar, Andrews came back with a sunset flip, a striking combination, and an enzuigiri.

Andrews followed with a running flip cover and Stomp 182, then hit a dive on Dar, who had fled to ringside. A corkscrew moonsault by Andrews hit its mark for a near fall, but he then missed a corner charge and quickly found himself in an ankle lock by Dar.

Andrews managed to escape and throw Dar to the outside once more, then hit a moonsault off the apron. He snapped Dar’s neck on the top rope, but got kicked mid-move as he attempted to springboard back into the ring.

Dar hit a running snapmare that sent Andrews into the steel steps at ringside. Both men took some time to recover and Dar locked in another ankle lock back in the ring. Andrews eventually made the ropes, but he sold his knee from the move. He hit an enzuigiri off a dragon screw attempt and hit a moonsault on Dar, but landed on his knees in the process. They traded punches and Andrews got a backslide for another near fall.

Andrews hit Stundog Millionaire off a counter for another two count, then hit an inverted rana but slipped off and crashed into Dar’s knee, prompting both men to writhe on the mat in pain. Referee Drake Wuertz threw up the X sign and had the doctor check out Dar. He ruled the match a no contest, as neither wrestler could continue.

Dar and Andrews were both stretchered off by the medical crew as they threw their thumbs up for the crowd.

– A video for the upcoming NXT UK tapings in April, July, and at Download Festival in June aired, followed by a recap of the previous match.

– A graphic announced Isla Dawn vs. Kay Lee Ray and Trent Seven vs. Joe Coffey for next week.

Pete Dunne vs. WALTER contract signing

Johnny Saint and Sid Scala came to the ring among “Johnny Saint” chants. Scala quickly introduced the challenger, WALTER, who came out wearing a black coat, shirt, and dress pants. He shook Saint’s hand but otherwise looked all business.

Dunne came out looking similarly serious and the two opponents faced off over the table. Scala repeatedly had to ask them to take their seats, which they eventually did without taking their eyes off each other. Scala called it the biggest match in NXT UK history and one which the European wrestling scene had demanded. It would now take place over the biggest weekend in wrestling.

Scala asked WALTER if he wanted to say anything, but WALTER pushed the microphone on the table in front of him away, signed the contract, and pushed it over to Dunne.

Dunne decided that he was not going to stay as silent as the Ring General and said “You don’t have to say anything. It’s not just the WWE Universe that wants this match. I want this match. And at TakeOver: New York, you’re going to know what everyone else here has known for the past 647 days. I am the Bruiserweight and NXT UK belongs to me. And the WWE UK championship is and always will be mine.”

As Dunne turned to leave, WALTER decided to reply (initially in German): “Peter. Deine Zeit ist abgelaufen. (Peter. Your time is up). Don’t look at me like that, you know exactly I could just reach over and put you through that table. Like I just said, your time is up. And in New York City, the reign of the Bruiserweight will end. Because this title is mine.”

Dunne and WALTER then faced off one final time as the show went off the air.

Next week —

Kay Lee Ray faces Isla Dawn and Trent Seven takes on Joe Coffey.

NXT UK results: Pete Dunne vs. WALTER official for TakeOver NY

Quick results —

Johnny Saint and Sid Scala announced that Pete Dunne would defend his WWE United Kingdom title at TakeOver: New York, prompting Dunne to come out and demand the match be against WALTER.

After a few weeks of building up the match, Eddie Dennis beat Ligero. The Wild Boar & Primate appeared as a new team called The Hunt and quickly destroyed Lewis Howley & Sam Stoker. Kassius Ohno, technically in his NXT UK debut (at least in the actual UK — he was on the show against WALTER in a match taped at Royal Rumble Axxess a few weeks ago), beat Ashton Smith and attacked him post-match, prompting Travis Banks to come out.

In an excellent main event, Tyler Bate defeated James Drake, cementing British Strong Styles’ claim to an NXT UK Tag Team title rematch.

Full rundown —

– The show was opened by NXT UK general manager Johnny Saint and his assistant Sid Scala with an important announcement. They announced that Pete Dunne would be defending his WWE UK title at NXT TakeOver: New York over WrestleMania weekend.

Scala said the question is now who Dunne will defend the title against. But before he could come to that, Dunne came to the ring, grabbed the mic, and just said: “Give me WALTER!” before leaving again.

– Toni Storm was being interviewed backstage about what Jinny had said about her last week. Storm laughed and said that while they were very different, they both really love gold. Storm said she has the NXT UK Women’s Championship — while Jinny only has the kind of gold you can buy in a store.

Storm said that when Jinny is in the ring with her, Jinny actually has to work hard. As Storm went down the stairs, she passed Rhea Ripley and they gave each other the stink-eye. Ripley said she heard what Xia Brookside said about her last week and called her out.

Eddie Dennis pinned Ligero in 9:10 after hitting the Severn Bridge and the Next Stop Driver

They started off strong with Ligero showing some speed on offense, but he got caught when launching himself over the top onto Dennis on the outside. Dennis unceremoniously slammed him on the apron.

From that point, Dennis took over and just beat up Ligero mercilessly, almost knocking him out with a stiff forearm. Ligero managed to get back on his feet and hold onto the ropes, hitting an innovative facebuster onto his thigh from a lucha style counter. This time around, Ligero hit his mark on launching himself over the top rope and hit a nice hurricanrana on Dennis on the outside in the process.

Ligero hit a splash from climbing up onto the ropes in the middle of the ring for a near fall, but he missed a somersault plancha off the top, prompting Dennis to strike him down again. Ligero countered the Next Stop Driver and hit an enzuigiri. Ligero got caught off his springboard DDT off the ropes, but he managed to turn it into a Code Red for another near fall.

Dennis stopped another aerial attack attempt short and hit an impressive deadlift vertical superplex off the middle rope. He followed up with the Severn Bridge and finally hit the Next Stop Driver for the victory.

– Amir Jordan talked to Kenny Williams backstage and they argued about whether they deserved a shot at the Tag Team titles and who would talk to Saint about it. Williams instead prompted him to put in the work in the gym to do a sort of pull-up/push-up on a rack. It ended with Jordan wanting Williams to dance with him, prompting Williams to walk off. So, no idea if they’ll get their title shot or not.

The Hunt (Primate Jay Melrose & Wild Boar Mike Hitchman) defeated Lewis Howley & Sam Stoker in 2:37 after a pounce/backdrop driver combination

Howley and Stoker came out wearing dress shirts, while The Hunt came out wearing boar and gorilla masks respectively and looked like a real killer team right from the get go.

Primate started out with Stoker and hit an overhead suplex before tagging out. Boar threw him around a bit before tagging back out as The Hunt hit a double slam and Primate threw Boar onto Stoker.

Primate had his way with Stoker and the Hunt tagged in and out in quick succession, hitting one innovative move after the other on their opponents. It ended with Boar hitting a pounce on Howley, then throwing him into Primate — who transitioned the momentum into a high-angle back drop driver for the win.

Kassius Ohno pinned Amir Jordan in 4:16 after a ripcord elbow to the back of the head

They bumped fists to start out before Ohno quickly started working the arm and applying wristlocks and hammerlocks on the ground in order to demonstrate his knowledge of the European style.

Jordan tried to slam Ohno but couldn’t get him up. He managed to throw Ohno out of the ring, but got caught with a thigh to the head on a dive attempt. Ohno suplexed him for a near fall, then locked in a submission. Jordan escaped but once more failed on an attempt of a Samoan drop.

Jordan came back with some offense and finally hit the move, but only got a two count off it. Ohno hit a boot to the face and a back senton, then hit the ripcord elbow to the back of the head for the win.

After the match, Ohno talked to Jordan and helped him to his feet. He did Jordan’s raised arm pose and offered his fist for another fist bump, but then quickly hit another spinning elbow, knocking Jordan out again.

Travis Banks came out and briefly had words with Ohno before looking out for Jordan. Ohno tried entering the ring again but got scared off by Banks and finally left.

– Gallus were shown in a pub. Joe Coffey said they need to re-establish dominance again in order to stay on top.

Tyler Bate pinned James Drake in 10:58 after the Spiral Tap

They started out quick — but neither one could get an advantage. Drake worked over the arm, but Bate escaped and hit a standing dropkick. Bate got Drake up for the airplane spin, but Drake escaped after a few rounds and sent Bate to the outside. Drake rammed Bate into the barriers and took over once they were back inside.

Bate eventually came back with a flurry of punches, a standing hurricanrana, and a high-angle back body drop. He hit a knee lift off a reversal, then followed with a flying European uppercut and an exploder suplex. Drake moved out of the way of a standing Shooting Star, but Bate landed on his feet and just hit another one that connected like it was nothing.

Drake managed to pull Bate out of the ring, but he got sent into the dasher boards on a reversal. Drake then hit a front face slam from a tombstone position for a near fall to even the odds again.

They traded roll-up attempts and jackknife covers until Bate connected with his springboard lariat off the ropes. Drake countered out of the Tyler Driver ’97 and hit a running dropkick into the corner for another near fall.

Drake missed a 450 off the top but landed on his feet, only to eat an exploder into the corner. Bate then hit the Spiral Tap off the top for the victory.

– As Bate was celebrating, the cameras went backstage and Scala and Saint confirmed that WALTER would indeed challenge Dunne for the WWE UK title at NXT TakeOver: New York.

NXT UK results: Dunne & WALTER team against The Coffeys

Quick results —

Wolfgang pinned Flash Morgan Webster, while Amir Jordan & Kenny Williams were successful against Saxon Huxley & Tyson T-Bone.

Kay Lee Ray made her NXT UK debut and quickly beat Candy Floss. Noam Dar also made his presence on the brand known and got on Mark Andrews’ bad side.

In the main event, WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne & WALTER beat the Coffey Brothers in a very good match that led to a dramatic scene between Dunne and WALTER as the show went off the air.

Full rundown —

– Sid Scala and Johnny Saint entered the arena and were stopped by a reporter asking them what to expect. They said Kay Lee Ray would make her debut and WALTER would team with Pete Dunne to take on the Coffey Brothers. After the opening, a graphic of that match was shown.

Wolfgang pinned Flash Morgan Webster in 5:25 after the Caber Toss

Webster started off strong with quick offense but was stopped once Wolfgang threw him into the turnbuckles and took over. After some minutes of being pummeled, Webster came back with consecutive dives on Wolfgang, including a somersault plancha.

Back in the ring, Webster hit a somersault senton on a crouching Wolfgang. The big Scot tried some sort of aerial attack as well, but an enzuigiri from Webster sent him toppling to ringside.

Webster tried swinging around the post with a kick, but he got caught and slammed to the mats at ringside and powerbombed into the post. After that, Wolfgang hit the Caber Toss for the victory.

That was not enough for Wolfgang, as he shoved the referee aside and attacked Webster some more until he was finally sent out of the ring. He jaw-jacked with a fan before going to the back.

– Ohno said that it was mind-blowing that the guy to bring an authentic European style to NXT UK was an American. He said he had rounds matches in France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK and stood toe to toe with the likes of William Regal and Robbie Brookside.

Ohno said the current guys grew up on Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels and not Marty Jones. He said they’d experience British wrestling at his hands.

Amir Jordan & Kenny Williams defeated Saxon Huxley & Tyson T-Bone in 5:57 after Jordan hit the Swanton Bomb-ay on Huxley

Williams and Huxley started out, and as the bigger man pummeled Williams, he quickly found himself on the lower end of a lucha-style roll-up. The faces briefly dominated both their opponents — until Jordan found himself in the bad guys’ corner and was hit by a hard clothesline by T-Bone on a distraction.

T-Bone worked Jordan over for a few minutes, but Jordan was able to hit an enzuigiri and made the hot tag.

Williams ran wild on both heels, including hitting a bulldog on Huxley into the turnbuckle. Williams and Jordan then hit stereo dives on both men on opposite sides of the ring. Williams took Huxley down and Jordan hit the Swanton Bomb-ay for the win.

Noam Dar promo

Dar walked to the ring for a promo. He said he was back in NXT UK and was here to stay. Dar said he kept an eye on the brand. It has been doing pretty well and it will do better when they take the show to the “most beautiful place in the UK” — Glasgow, Scotland.

Dar mocked the crowd as they started booing. He said the roster had been doing an okay job, but the brand needed him. He said the contract was signed and he was here to stay, unlike other UK wrestlers who went to 205 Live and were sent packing.

Mark Andrews, who was one of the names Dar mentioned as failing on 205 Live, came out and was upset. As Dar was looking to cheap shot him, Andrews attacked him and sent him packing.

WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne & WALTER beat The Coffey Brothers in 16:20 after WALTER powerbombed Mark Coffey for the pin

The Coffeys came out with Wolfgang, while WALTER and Dunne entered separately. Dunne and Mark Coffey started out — and Dunne quickly started working over Mark’s wrist and arm.

Mark tried the same, but Dunne escaped and punished Mark. WALTER asked for a tag and got it, then demonstrated how to properly separate a man from his arm. He brushed off a chop by Mark, who tagged out to his brother.

WALTER escaped from a side headlock, then egged Joe on to try and shoulder block him down. On the third attempt, WALTER swung into the ropes, then quickly applied a Gojira clutch before easily tackling Joe to the mat.

Dunne came in, but WALTER quickly wanted back in and had his way. As the future opponents took turns chopping Joe, they faced off but quickly got attacked again. They hit stereo slams on both Coffeys onto the apron before facing off in the ring again.

WALTER took over on Joe before Dunne came back in again and swiftly hit a dropkick to Joe’s knee. Dunne went for a surfboard, but he settled on driving Joe’s knees down into the mat. A blind tag by Mark led to him hitting a German suplex on a surprised Dunne. Joe rammed WALTER into the barricades on the outside.

The heels took turns working Dunne over in the ring as WALTER slowly got back up on the apron. After a backbreaker by Joe, Mark stomped a fallen Dunne. Dunne briefly recovered to hit a snap German on Mark. Dunne could not make the tag, but he managed to do so seconds later.

WALTER ran wild on both Coffeys, breaking a double clothesline to hit a lariat and a leaping Gojira clutch, a running big boot, a German, and a sit-down splash all in short succession. Joe hit a German on WALTER, but he quickly was slammed to the mat with a huge uranage overhead slam.

Dunne was back in and Joe tried for a step-up back body press, but he got punched out of mid-air by Dunne. Mark hit a Polish Hammer on Dunne, but WALTER blind tagged in and hit a shotgun dropkick, a butterfly suplex, and finally locked in a Boston crab while Dunne hit a plancha on Joe at ringside.

Joe tried chopping WALTER, who didn’t flinch but released the hold and chopped a hole in Joe’s chest. The Coffeys managed to hit a kind of Doomsday Device, prompting Dunne to make the save.

As WALTER had Mark in a Gojira clutch, Joe tried to pull him to safety — but the power of WALTER led to Joe actually getting pulled over the rope into the ring and ending up in a waist lock by his brother. Dunne snapped Joe’s fingers on the top rope and WALTER hit a huge double German suplex on both Coffeys.

As chaos broke out, Joe grabbed the UK title and went to hit Dunne with it but got thwarted. Mark picked up the title and went to hit Dunne with it. Dunne moved as WALTER went for a big boot that hit Mark, who was swiftly powerbombed for the victory.

The announcers speculated on whether WALTER was aiming the boot at Dunne or was actually trying to save him from the attack.

WALTER and Dunne faced off with the UK title on the mat between them. As Dunne went to slowly pick it up, WALTER stepped on it, then picked it up, looked at it for a long time, and finally handed it to Dunne before walking off.
