NWA Power results: Cardona & Knox vs. Strictly Business vs. Storm & Murdoch

NWA Power opened with a promo from Melina saying that she should be the permanent number 1 contender because of her status as a legend. It’s a heel line, but I think she’s the babyface here. Babyfaces should be willing to work their way up the card, and Melina did not want to, so this was confusing to say the least.

That led into our first match.

Kiera Hogan defeated Jennacide (w/ Taryn Terrell), Kenzie Paige and Christi Jaynes to become the number 1 contender to the NWA Women’s title

This was an excellent match from all four as they put on quite the show. You have to think places like AEW would want to fill out their women’s division with the talent seen here. Hogan has an AEW contract, but she would be a great get for any organization out there.

Everyone tried to take out Jennacide at the onset, including Kenzie Paige hitting a dive on her. Hogan hit a dropkick in the corner on Jaynes while Jennacide pulled Hogan to the floor. Hogan went for a wheelbarrow on Jennacide, but Jaynes ran in and hit a cutter on Hogan for the two count in a cool spot.

Jaynes chopped Jennacide, who no sold it and chopped her back before hitting a fall away into a DDT. Paige and Hogan hit double superkicks on Jennacide. Paige then hit Hogan with a superkick, followed by Jaynes hitting a palm strike and ushigoroshi on Paige.

Jaynes hit a moonsault to the floor on all three women, but Hogan came back in and hit Face the Music (a swinging fisherman’s neckbreaker) for the pinfall to earn the title shot.

— The OGK (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) & Tag Team Champions La Rebelion were backstage with Homicide. Homicide bad-mouthed The OGK, asking why they were there. Bennett and Taven said they wanted a match against them for the titles, but La Rebelion said that they weren’t worthy. Bennett told Homicide to keep his boys in line and a brawl almost broke out.

— Jax Dane was with Kyle Davis and continued to talk about Anthony Mayweather (Crimson). Dane claimed that he set up Mayweather’s match against Mims tonight. Mims is the student of Mayweather, so he wanted to see how bad Mayweather wanted another match against him, going through his student.

Dane started bad-mouthing the NWA legends and Rodney Mack, the husband of Jazz, decided that was disrespectful and took him out to end the segment.

Anthony Mayweather defeated Mims by countout

This was an interesting way to book the match, but in this case, I think the finish served the story. Mims didn’t want Mayweather to play into the hands of Dane. Mayweather understood it as business and wanted his trainee to wrestle. Mims, in the end, was the one manipulated. If it goes somewhere, it’s interesting.

Mayweather and Mims exchanged some offense, but Mims kept letting up on him every time he had the advantage. Mims said he couldn’t do it and that Dane was manipulating both of them. Mayweather said it was just business and they should fight. Mims laid down for the pin, and Mayweather said that there was no honor in winning that way, so give him a fight.

Both men left the ring and Mayweather told him that this was part of his training, but Mims threw Mayweather into the ring before they could both get counted out, giving the teacher the win by countout.

— Cyon was with May Valentine and spoke about how his past doesn’t matter despite Valentine asking about his former NWA champion father. He chose to wore a mask because the past doesn’t matter and was going to continue to fight and prove himself, because Tyrus showed him what he needed to do to get to the top.

DSB (JTG and Dirty Dango) defeated The Rude Dudes (El Rudo & Jamie Stanley)

I like all four guys, but this wasn’t very good. Stanley and JTG, in particular, seemed to struggle, but I have seen far worse.

JTG started with El Rudo. Dango and JTG showed some good tag team offense in the early part with a few double teams on El Rudo. Rudo and Stanley kept the heat up for a few minutes until Dango hit a back suplex before making the tag to JTG.

JTG and Stanley had a bit of a miscommunication when JTG tried to wrap Stanley’s arm around his head and hit a neckbreaker, but it just didn’t come together. JTG got a uranage on Stanley before Dango hit the guillotine leg drop off the top rope for the finish.

NWA Television Champion Tyrus (w/ BLK Jeez, Jordan Clearwater & Marche Rockett) defeated Jaden Roller to retain

This match sucked. Tyrus is so lazy in the ring that he barely moved while doing anything. This was one of the most boring three-minute matches I have ever seen.

Roller hit Tyrus with a jawbreaker after Tyrus lazily shoved Roller to the mat. Roller attacked the knee and kept attacking until hitting a flying clothesline to drop Tyrus. Roller hit an Axe Kick on Tyrus for a two-count.

Tyrus couldn’t get up in time to hit Roller with a punch to the stomach, so Roller just stopped and sold it like Tyrus headbutted him. Wow, Tyrus is bad. Tyrus hit a corner splash and a heart punch for the win. This was horrible.

Cyon defeated Judias (w/ Sinister Minister) via DQ

This also sucked. Judias wasn’t over. I like Cyon, but Judias is terrible.

Judias controlled the early parts of the match with slow, awful offense. Sal Rinauro came out as he is still trying to join Sinister Minister. Judias then threw Rinauro at Cyon for the DQ. Rinauro then asked the Minister if he did good.

Matt Cardona & Mike Knox defeated Strictly Business (Thom Latimer & NWA National Champion Chris Adonis) & NWA World Champion Trevor Murdoch & Tim Storm in a three-way

This was a fine tag match, but was nothing too special.

Knox, Cardona, and Strictly Business seemed to agree that working together to beat on Storm and Murdoch made the most sense. Cardona entered the match when Murdoch was being beat on, but tagged out as soon as Murdoch showed any offense.

Cardona missed a boot scrape and Storm ran wild on Knox and Cardona. Cardona was able to steal the win after everyone exchanged finishers until Cardona hit Radio Silence on Storm.

Final Thoughts:

The opening match was the best on the show with the non-finishes hurting the show a bit. Judias and Tyrus being in featured matches and storylines suck the life out of Power, and the crowd usually responds with silence. I wish anyone else in Idol’s group would wrestle, but Tyrus wrestles the most for them.

The main event was a perfectly fine tag match, but Cardona vs. Murdoch needs to be heated up soon with more promos and angles.

NWA USA begins this Saturday, January 8th with the revival of the NWA Junior Heavyweight title via a tournament.

NWA Power results: La Rebelion & Homicide vs. Jax Dane & The End

We opened up this week’s show with May Valentine interviewing Mims who said that Mike Knox and Matt Cardona disrespected everyone in the NWA. He also said that while he lost to Knox last time, the result could be different the next time they face each other. Mims also said that others in the company are going to step up against Cardona and Knox as well and defend the NWA.

Joe Galli, Tim Storm, and Velvet Sky were on commentary.

The Rude Dudes (El Rudo & Jamie Stanley) promo

Kyle Davis interviewed El Rudo and Jamie Stanley before tonight’s Junior Heavyweight title play-in match. Rudo said they are the future of tag team wrestling but tonight, Stanley will prove how good he is in singles competition. Stanley said that after he wins the NWA Junior Heavyweight title, he and Rudo will go back to “bashing nerds” and looking good doing it.

Jamie Stanley defeated Miguel Robles, Jeremiah Plunkett and Alex Taylor in a fatal four-way NWA Junior Heavyweight title tournament play-in match

Stanley opened things up by walking toward each of his opponents and posing in front of them. Plunkett finally just hit him in the face and the action got started. Galli announced on commentary that the winner of this match will take on a “top tier” opponent next on NWA USA. Their opponent will be announced Saturday on the new NWA USA show on YouTube.

Stanley took every opportunity he could during the match to pose. After each competitor had been on offense for a period, Plunkett and Robles ended up in the ring together. Plunkett countered a diving attempt from Robles into a spinebuster, but was then tossed out of the ring by Stanley. “That Dude” Stanley then arrogantly pinned Robles with just one foot on his chest. Galli reiterated that Stanley will face a top tier opponent Saturday on NWA USA, but would not say who.

Aron Stevens and JR Kratos promo

Kyle Davis pointed out that ever since Stevens’ personality change, he and Kratos have been getting along much better. Stevens was then interrupted by Dirty Dango and JTG, aka the Dirty Sexy Boys. JTG said the wrestling world wants to know why he and Dango are now a team. Those reasons are championships and fair competition, not like last time when Stevens and Kratos cheated to beat them. Stevens referred to them as the “Unclean Sexual Young Men,” but Dango corrected him. Stevens and Kratos then left.

To end the segment, Fandango said “Let’s get weird” and JTG pulled out a banana and ate it. Davis asked what that meant, but Fandango just shushed him. This was bizarre but also oddly enjoyable.

— A video package on Hawx Aerie aired as it was announced the two will face each other in the NWA Junior Heavyweight title tournament.

— Austin Idol replaced Tim Storm on commentary.

Jordan Clearwater and Marshe Rockett defeated Cyon in a 2-on-1 handicap match

Idol’s surprise for Cyon was that he would have to take on two of his wrestlers in a handicap match to keep his hopes of a rematch with Tyrus alive. Cyon took to it to both guys to start the match, but the numbers advantage eventually led to Idol’s team going on offense for an extended period. At one point, Rockett and Clearwater had Cyon in a double chinlock they call “The Bro Lock.”

Cyon managed to suplex Rockett to take him out of the match for a bit. The masked man then hit a series of bodyslams on Clearwater. He took out Rockett on the apron again and then hit a power bomb on Clearwater for a two count. As Clearwater kicked out, Cyon transitioned to a single-leg crab. Rockett came back in and broke up the submission, however. Cyon hit a death valley driver on Clearwater, but Rockett hit him with the Rocket Kick to get the pin. Idol then screamed “Bang! Zoom! Off to the moon! Idolmania Sports Management rules the world!” which was just a terrific thing to hear.

Tyrus was interviewed after the match as the other members of Idolmania Sports Management celebrated in the ring. He said that if Cyon had won, he would have given him a title shot but he didn’t so he won’t.

After we came back from break, May Valentine was with Tyrus and Idol. Tyrus continued to say that Cyon agreed to an opportunity to prove he should face Tyrus again but he lost, and now he’s at the back of the line for his title. Idol says this should be a learning experience for Cyon.

Kyle Davis interviews Kamille & Missa Kate

Kamille said she doesn’t share the spotlight with anyone aside from Thom Latimer and isn’t a tag team wrestler. She said that “Conspiracy” Corgan told her she had to wrestle and that’s the only reason why she’s teaming with Missa Kate later. Kate talked about being new to the promotion, but was looking forward to showing Kylie Rae who the real Chicagoan is.

Tim Storm rejoined the commentary table.

Kylie Rae & Tootie Lynn defeated Missa Kate & Kamille

Kate and Kylie started things off with a back-and-forth grappling display as Kamille looked unimpressed in the corner. When Kate went for the tag, Kamille didn’t make much effort to reach out. Kamille did eventually tag in, but seemed entirely uninterested in facing Rae. She had an attitude that the whole thing was beneath her for the entirety of the match.

As the match continued, Kylie managed to lock in a crossface on Kamille but the champion powered out of it. Both competitors tagged out and shortly after, Lynn locked Kate in an armbar before Kamille broke that up. Kylie then hit Kamille with a superkick that took her out of the ring. She then locked in a crossface on Kate to get the submission.

Kamille and Kate argued after the match as Rae and Tootie celebrated. It seemed as though Rae was being booked to look like challenger to Kamille’s title, but the commentary team also played up what a good team she and Tootie make.

Mayweather, Nick Aldis, and Mickie James promo

Nick Aldis said NWA USA will be a place for young talent to show up and make a name for themselves. He said he’ll be an ambassador for the show and will be looking for new talent.

Mickie James then spoke about teaming with Kiera Hogan recently. Although they showed dissension the last time they were in the ring together, James praised Hogan and said she’s a star. James also took a shot at Kamille and said the champion should be worried about who is coming for her title.

May Valentine asked Mayweather if there is an alliance between he, Aldis and James. Mayweather said that he’s friends with the Aldis family but that’s it. He also said that he’ll be appearing on NWA USA as well.

Colby Corino & The Fixers (Jay Bradley and Wrecking Ball Legursky) & OGK (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) promo segment

Corino was sitting atop the shoulders of the Fixers for this interview. Taven praised Corino’s father and talked about knowing Colby since he was a boy but can’t understand why he’s aligned with some “melvins” like the Fixers. As he often does, Taven then made sure everyone knows that his name is Matt Taven. Taven and Corino then agreed that Taven would take on Legursky in an impromptu singles match.

Matt Taven defeated Wrecking Ball Legursky

After Taven started off hot, Legursky turned the tables and ended up on offense after a big headbutt. The big man then went on an extended period of offense and landed a bunch of power moves including an elbow drop and lariat. Taven then started to fight back and after Legursky missed a splash, Taven hit a running knee to the face for a near fall. Legursky then countered a sleeper hold into a side slam for a near fall. Shortly after, Taven hit a springboard moonsault for another near fall. Taven missed a frog splash and Legursky landed a powerslam for yet another near fall. Finally, Taven hit a sunset flip power bomb in the corner that got the pin. The series of near falls was pretty fun.

Jennacide promo

Jennacide spoke about the dissension between she and Paola Blaze. She said that Paola is Taryn Terrell’s problem now because she’s done with her.

Matt Cardona & Mike Knox promo

Kyle Davis spoke with Matt Cardona and Mike Knox. Cardona said he’s always ready to compete in an NWA ring but that’s not why he’s here. Cardona said he’s there to save the NWA. He said he found the NWA old, dated and boring 30 years ago and he still does now. Cardona said it’s time for the NWA to change. He wants pyro for he and Knox, entrance music for everyone, and a big screen on the entrance ramp.

Cardona then said that Trevor Murdoch bullied him when he was a rookie and Murdoch was already established. He ran down how many social media followers Murdoch has and continued to run down both Murdoch and the NWA before saying the fans should thank him. This was good as Cardona came off as a big time heel here.

Natalia Markova defeated Paola Blaze (w/ Taryn Terrell)

Markova looked dominant over Blaze throughout basically the entire match. Blaze hadn’t got in really any offense at all until she scored a series of near falls off pinning combinations. Markova then delivered a series of forearms and a facebuster to go back on offense. She then hit Beautiful Disaster in the corner to pick up the win. They must be building up Markova to really be something in the women’s division.

NWA National Champion Chris Adonis and Thom Latimer promo

May Valentine brought up that the National title will be the featured belt on NWA USA. Adonis and Latimer said the entire show should be about them.

NWA Tag Team Champions La Rebelión (Bestia 666 & Mecha Wolf 450) & Homicide defeated Jax Dane & The End (Parrow & Odinson)

Before the match officially began, Dane and the End hit a triple super collider power bomb on their opponents. Parrow then hit a big splash on Homicide in the corner. Finally, the bell rang to start the match with Homicide already in trouble. Dane and the End then tagged in and out, working over Homicide for quite a while as La Rebelion kept trying to get involved but were stopped by the referee.

Finally, Homicide made the hot tag to Mecha Wolf and La Rebelion took over. They hit a series of double team moves on Odinson and chopped down Parrow with a pair of double knees before tagging Homicide back in. All three then hit a triple superkick on Odinson.

Dane then came in and picked up both members of La Rebelion into a Samoan drop. Homicide came back in and tossed Dane shoulder-first into the post. Parrow tagged in which left him and Homicide alone in the ring together. After not being able to get Parrow up for the Cop Killer, he landed a cutter to get the pin.

Final thoughts:

This was fun. Matt Cardona’s promo was really good and sets the stage for him to be the top heel in the promotion now that Aldis has gone babyface. Kamille’s storyline is also interesting. They might be building to a match with Kylie Rae but ultimately, the big match is between Kamille and Mickie James. Dango and JTG also seem like they could be a very entertaining team in the promotion.

NWA Power Surge results: The Joe Galli holiday celebration

NWA Power Surge opened up with Joe Galli hosting a holiday party at what he said was his home but looked remarkably like the NWA studio. He explained he just keeps a replica of the studio in his home, hence the similarity.

The first guest to arrive was fellow commentator Velvet Sky and they sent it to the ring for our first match.

Captain Yuma defeated Fable Jake

Jake had quite the size advantage and used it to his advantage early with a big suplex, atomic drop, and a big knee to the face. Yuma then made a comeback and landed a big tornado DDT, a series of jabs and a jawbreaker. Jake then hit a big powerslam for a two count. He charged at his opponent in the corner, but missed. Yuma then hit a modified facebuster/piledriver combo of sorts with his opponent’s head wedged between his legs.

I’m not sure if Yuma’s gimmick is that he’s an astronaut or if he’s just a generally space-themed wrestler, but he was surprisingly entertaining.

The camera then cut back to Galli’s holiday party with Tim Storm as the next guest to arrive. They talked about their favorite holiday movies before throwing it to the next match.

Jaden Roller defeated Rush Freeman in a TV title no. 1 contender’s match

Storm joined the commentary team and spoke about Roller accusing him of cheating during their no disqualification match at Any Means Necessary. Storm clarified that there can be no cheating during a no DQ match. Roller was distracted with Storm at ringside, but still managed to get some sustained offense in early. He hit a running knee and a body slam before locking in a chin lock. Freeman made a very brief comeback after hitting a big clothesline. Shortly after, Roller hit his axe kick finisher on his opponent and got the three count to earn a shot at current champion Tyrus.

After the match, Roller pointed at Storm on commentary and said he’s next so it appears we are getting a rematch between them first.

We then cut to a promo featuring Danny Deals offering deals on various items including a bottle of water, a candy cane that had been in his mouth, and some holiday socks. I’m not sure why we saw this, but we did.

It was clear at this point that Galli was a little tipsy. Austin Idol was the next guest to arrive and pointed out that we were in the NWA studio and not his home, but Galli insisted that was not the case. Idol encouraged him to not drink anymore, but Galli then encouraged Idol to do the opposite.

Jay Bradley defeated Diante

Bradley charged at Diante as soon as the bell rang and was really aggressive from the get-go. Diante tried to fight back after Bradley missed a knee drop, but was not able to get his opponent up for a suplex. Bradley hit a big boot, but missed on a second one. Diante then missed a dropkick from the second rope and Bradley went back on offense. Bradley then hit a big uranage for the pin and win. Bradley played a good mean, big, aggressive guy here.

The Gift Opening

Galli was now quite drunk. He encouraged his guests to open their gifts which I’m certain was just a series of items that happened to be available in the studio just before they started filming. Velvet opened up what was a pack of baby wipes; Storm opened what was a tie with puppies on it, and Galli then opened up his gift which was the book, “The Slaughter of a Mountain Man” and he pointed out that you can’t spell “slaughter” without “laughter.”

Idol then opened up his gift which was a can of breath mints. The four of them then did some improv around these random items with Sky hinting that Idol has bad breath.

Kyle Davis then arrived and was promptly called Dyle Kavis by a heavily intoxicated Galli. Davis had arrived without knowing there was a party and was upset to have not been invited. Davis then revealed he had brought Galli an NWA t-shirt as a gift and then stormed off. Galli passed out drunk on the floor to end the show.

Final Thoughts:

This was just a quick 27-minute episode featuring three matches not connected to any major storylines and a show-long story of Joe Galli hosting a holiday party. With that said, Galli was actually pretty funny.

NWA Power results: Mickie James & Kiera Hogan vs. The Hex

NWA Power opened this week with World Champion Trevor Murdoch being interviewed in the back by May Valentine. He was asked how he feels about Mike Knox being in the promotion and Murdoch responded that since Knox has been here, he’s caused nothing but carnage. Murdoch was asked how he feels about Matt Cardona being in the NWA. He responded by saying that Cardona seems to enjoy showing up in promotions randomly and putting himself on top. He said Cardona was waiting for him, but wants him to come at him face-to-face.

Joe Gallie, Tim Storm and Velvet Sky were on commentary.

Thom Latimer promo

Kyle Davis was there to interview Latimer, Kamille and Chris Adonis from Strictly Business. Latimer grabbed the microphone and trash talked Nick Aldis. He said things between he and Aldis will never be over until he reads Aldis’ name in the obituaries. Neither Adonis or Kamille had anything to say apparently.

Judais and Father James Mitchell promo

Kyle Davis interviewed Judais and Mitchell. Mitchell said there is a conspiracy in the NWA against Judais, that the referee at Hard Times 2 should have disqualified Adonis in their match, and that the Masterlock is an illegal chokehold.

Sal Rinauro then came out from the back with a crazed look on his face. He said that Mitchell is his light and asked if he could join them. Mitchell didn’t seem to be into this idea and the rejection caused Rinauro to go into a bit of a panic. Danny Deals then came out and tried to calm Rinauro down as the camera cut away.

Aron Stevens & Kratos defeated The Dirty Sexy Boys (JTG & Dirty Dango)

Stevens has been undergoing a more aggressive personality change as of late which his partner, Kratos, seems to be pleased with. That story would play out here. This was also the in-ring debut for JTG and Dirty Dango after they came out together as a team at Hard Times 2.

After Dango and JTG got in the early offense, Stevens and Kratos ended up isolating Dango with quick tags. Dango then made a hot tag to JTG who got a two count on Kratos with a side slam. Shortly after, Stevens grabbed the microphone and complained that his opponents had no respect for the rules, although it was not clear what rules he felt they had broken.

Stevens then left the ring area and stayed by the interview podium section. Meanwhile, in the ring, Kratos hit a deadlift suplex on JTG and got the pin. After the match, Stevens got on the mic and said that he has been set free and has never been better. Stevens then told everyone to appreciate Kratos.

Considering it was their debut, I’m a little surprised they had JTG and Dango beaten so cleanly and with one member of the opposing team having left the ring area. They seem to be building Stevens and Kratos up for another run at the tag titles now that Stevens has adopted this new aggressive attitude.

Valentine interviewed Kratos in the back and asked him what has been going on with Stevens. Kratos said that he pushed to bring the animal out of Stevens and he likes what he has been seeing from him. Winning is what matters to Kratos and he said that he and Stevens are coming for the belts. Stevens then walked in front of the camera, gave a weird little look, and then walked away again.

Sal Rinauro performs a loyalty test for Father James Mitchell

Since Rinauro wants to join Mitchell and Judais, Mitchell had him perform a loyalty test. He was in the ring with Judais and Mitchell gave orders from the commentary position. Mitchell told Rinauro to bark like a dog and then bow down and kiss the boots of Judais. He did all of these things in order to prove his loyalty.

Mitchell then told him to allow Judais to chokeslam him and Rinauro obliged. Then the final test was for Rinauro to consume a glass of blood. He did and then sat with a crazed look on his face as the blood dripped down his torso which created an interesting visual.

It looks like we’re getting a new and darker version of Rinauro in the future as Mitchell seems to be building a creepy little stable as well.

Melina promo

Valentine interviewed Melina in the back and asked about her loss at Hard Times 2. She said that just because she lost, it doesn’t mean it’s the end of her going for the title. She admires Kamille, but is motivated to figure out how to beat her. She continued to say she’s going to keep striving to win “The Burke.” Valentine pointed out that she’s no longer in line for a shot at Kamille’s title, but Melina said there are ways for her to get another title shot. She didn’t elaborate on what those ways are, however.

The End and Jax Dane promo

Kyle Davis tried to interview the End, but Parrow just grabbed the microphone from him. He said he wanted a rematch against Tag Team Champions La Rebellion but apparently the NWA had other ideas. So he went out and found the biggest badass he could to form a trio with he and Odinson: Jax Dane. Dane came out and commented on how he has a title shot owed to him from the Champions Series.

NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions The Hex (Allysin Kay & Marti Belle) defeated Kiera Hogan & Mickie James to retain

Hogan and James got the early offense by isolating Belle. Kay tagged herself in, but quickly was given a Lou Thesz press and a hurricanrana by James. It was noted on commentary that James is the one calling the shots for her team. When Hogan tagged in, Kay turned the tables by hitting a spinebuster.

The Hex then isolated and worked on Hogan for a period with double team moves and quick tags. Hogan eventually made the hot tag to James. James went for her DDT finish, but Kay countered. James then tagged out to Hogan and they both went to the top turnbuckle. Kay and Belle knocked them both off the ropes, however. James fell to the floor, leaving Hogan alone with both members of the Hex. They hit Hex Marks the Spot on Hogan for the pin.

The Hex came off as the heels a little bit here and there was a smattering of boos from the live crowd when they won. They didn’t cheat at all and it didn’t feel like the start of a turn, but their double teaming of Hogan came off somewhat heelish and the crowd was clearly behind Hogan and James. The Hex seem like they could hold these titles for a while though and are definitely being built up as a strong team.

After the match, Latimer and Kamille came out to taunt James.

A bit later, the camera cut back to the ring where James and Hogan were seen arguing. Hogan was upset that James told her to go to the top rope for what ultimately led to the finish of their title match. Hogan then left the ring leaving a sad and disappointed looking James alone.

Natalia Markova promo

Valentine attempted to ask Markova if she thought it was okay to interfere in the match between Jennacide and Paola Blaze last week. Markova just wanted to congratulate the NWA for signing her, however. She then stormed off when Valentine insisted she answer her question.

Austin Idol, BLK Jeez, Jordan Clearwater, Tyrus Promo and Marshe Rockett promo

Idol presented a name tag for BLK Jeez and announced that he was the new junior executive of Idolmania Sports Management. Jeez said this allows him to sign and scout talent, and announced his first signee to the group: Marshe Rockett. Jeez then promised Cyon that he has something special in store for him next week.

William Patrick Corgan promo

Kyle Davis interviewed Corgan who said he’s taking heat in the back for bringing in Mike Knox. Corgan talked about Knox injuring Da Pope at Hard Times 2, but stands by his decision to allow him to compete in the NWA.

Matt Cardona and Mike Knox promo

Kyle Davis then interviewed Cardona and Knox. Cardona is doing a disingenuous routine where he is pretending he didn’t have any ill intent coming out at the end of Hard Times 2. He said he was just in the NWA to see “his buddy Trevor.” He talked about how they are old friends, but Murdoch didn’t seem happy to see him recently for some reason. Cardona then called Knox his best friend and that he had to get involved when Da Pope “sneak attacked” him. Cardona said he only picked up the NWA title afterward to see if it really did weigh ten pounds.

Knox said he was supposed to wrestle Da Pope tonight but he’s not there because he’s injured. Instead, Knox issued an open challenge.

Mike Knox defeated Mims

Knox didn’t expect anyone to answer his open challenge and wanted the referee to just count his non-existent opponent out. Mims then came out to answer the challenge. He trash talked Cardona and Knox and said they disrespected the locker room, the fans, and the NWA. Mims said if Da Pope was there, he would tell him to beat both Cardona and Knox.

Mims got in an early flurry that included a big slam, but Knox quickly turned the tables. Knox worked down Mims for a period until Mims launched a bit of a comeback. As Mims was picking Knox up, Knox raked his eyes and went back on offense. Finally, Knox hit him with a rolling cutter and picked up the win.

Final Thoughts:

This was a very promo heavy show with many storylines either created or continued. A few of them seem like they could be pretty interesting but the most noteworthy is Cardona and Knox now being the top heels in the promotion. Cardona is coming off like a big deal right now, so building to a match with he and Murdoch feels important. Hogan and James seem like they are going to keep working together, but with Hogan potentially turning heel. That seems like it could be interesting too.

NWA Power results: The fallout from Hard Times 2

The post-Hard Times 2 edition of NWA Power opened up with footage from the show-closing angle as we saw Matt Cardona’s surprise appearance after NWA World Champion Trevor Murdoch defended against Mike Knox.

Cardona’s distraction allowed Knox to hit a low blow and running boot to the champion. Cardona then held up the 10 pounds of gold briefly before placing it on top of the lifeless Murdoch.

Joe Galli, Trevor Storm, and Velvet Sky were on commentary.

Colby Corino and The Fixers (Jay Bradley & Wrecking Ball Legursky) defeated Victor Benjamin and OKG (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)

Corino tagged out to Jay Bradley immediately to start the match. He then tagged himself back in after the Fixers had double-teamed Taven for a bit. Taven quickly regained control of the match by dropkicking Corino.

Taven and Bennett worked on Corino for a bit before Legursky made a blind tag. This allowed the Fixers to work Bennett for a period. When Bennett had been beaten up enough, Corino tagged back in. He got a two count after his Colby Crush senton.

Bennett would later make a hot tag to Benjamin who delivered strikes and a suplex to Corino until the Fixers came in to rescue their teammate. They delivered a double power bomb to Benjamin before OKG came in and took them out. This left Benjamin and Corino alone in the ring together. Corino stomped on Benjamin’s foot before landing his Sunsetter finish for the win.

After defeating Doug Williams at Hard Times 2, that’s two big wins in a row for Corino. It definitely feels as though the NWA is getting behind him.

Strictly Business promo

Thom Latimer said that while he lost the match to Nick Aldis at Hard Times 2, it was Aldis who was wincing in agony and pain after. He said he’s now in Aldis’ head. NWA Women’s Champion Kamille complained about Melina’s tactics at Hard Times 2, specifically her biting her ear. Chris Adonis then talked about being the most active and greatest NWA National Champion of all time.

Jax Dane promo

Kyle Davis asked Dane about his loss to Mims on the pay-per-view. Dane complained about Anthony Mayweather distracting him at ringside. Dane then said he’s been granted a rematch against Mims, but he will have to put his Champions Series title shot on the line to do so.

Thom Latimer defeated Miguel Robles

Latimer went for the piledriver early when Miguel Robles countered into the same pinning combination Aldis used to beat him at Hard Times 2. This set Latimer off and he was really aggressive afterward. Latimer then hit a bunch of suplexes, other moves, and then his piledriver for the win.

Jennacide defeated Paola Blaze

These two were teammates in the fatal four-way tag team title match at Hard Times 2. Their manager Taryn Terrell was at ringside. Blaze evidently felt it wasn’t a good idea for Jennacide to cash in her Champions Series title shot at Hard Times 2. She wanted to wait for a different opportunity which is what led to this match.

Blaze offered a handshake to start the match, but Jennacide clamped down hard on her hand and then delivered a couple of knees to her opponent’s midsection. She then pretty much dominated the rest of the way.

Terrell kept saying “we can use her” to Jennacide which I guess was in reference to Blaze. Jennacide hit a chokeslam and appeared to have the match won when Natalia Markova came out of nowhere and distracted the referee. Blaze then rolled up her opponent and got a two count. Jennacide then hit a big side slam for the victory.

Jennacide is being built up strong. It seems likely she’ll be turning on Terrell pretty soon.

The Hex, Homicide and La Rebellion promo

May Valentine was standing alongside Women’s Tag Team Champions The Hex, Homicide, and Tag Team Champions La Rebellion. Homicide said he plans on winning the Junior Heavyweight title. La Rebellion said they feel great because they had one of the best matches of the night and retained. Allysin Kay then made several puns on The Hex name. She used the term “Hex-ellent” and said at Hard Times 2, they had to defend the titles against three other teams which was a little “Hex-essive”. Marti Belle said they were fighting champions.

Tyrus, Austin Idol, Jordan Clearwater and BLK Jeez promo

TV Champion Tyrus talked a lot of trash about having defeated Cyon at Hard Times 2. Davis then told Tyrus that Cyon wanted a little bit of his time. The masked man came out and thanked Tyrus for allowing him to learn something about himself.

Cyon then casually mentioned he is the son of a former NWA Champion, which drew a confused look from Idol. He said that his father never taught him lessons growing up and so instead, he sought them out by challenging guys like Tyrus. Cyon then asked for a rematch and Idol and Tyrus said they would get back to him.

So, Cyon is the son of an NWA champion. The mystery deepens. Who is this masked man?

Nick Aldis, Mickie James and Doug Williams promo

Davis interviewed Mickie James and Aldis next. James thanked Kiera Hogan for her match at Hard Times 2 and everyone for being so supportive.

Aldis then talked about wanting to conquer the tag team division in the NWA. He said he wants to reunite British Invasion to take on the great tag teams in the promotion. James unveiled a British Invasion jacket and Aldis brought out Doug Williams. Williams then accepted Aldis’ invitation to reform their former team.

And with that, British Invasion will be entering the tag team division and perhaps, we’ll even see them compete in the Crockett Cup in 2022. This seems like a good way to keep Aldis in a prominent position and away from the NWA World title for a bit longer.

Jax Dane defeated Mims

Anthony Mayweather was on commentary. Dane immediately turned his attention to Mayweather, showing he learned absolutely nothing from what happened on Saturday. This match then started off as pretty much the same match from the PPV. Dane got in all the offense, but kept being distracted with Mayweather. Mims started to make a comeback, but Dane raked the eyes and eventually hit his Pop the Trunk clothesline for the win.

JTG & Dirty Dango interrupt Hawx Aerie

PJ and Luke Hawx were being interviewed in the back when JTG and Dirty Dango interrupted. JTG said they should be the ones facing British Invasion tonight. Luke said they should watch their match tonight and if they still want a piece after, they know where to find them.

Trevor Murdoch promo

Murdoch complained that after every win, somebody always hits him from behind. He said if Matt Cardona wants a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, he should come to him directly. This brought out Aron Stevens for some reason.

Stevens congratulated Murdoch on being a champion Harley Race would be proud of. He again reassured the crowd that he’s “never been better” and that his partner Kratos had helped him see the light. Stevens then just left. Evidently, that was all he wanted to say.

British Invasion (Nick Aldis & Doug Williams) defeated Hawx Aerie (PJ & Luke Hawx)

PJ and Williams started this match off with some technical grappling. Aldis and Luke then sped up the pace when they both entered. PJ tagged in shortly after, but British Invasion ended up isolating him for a period.

PJ managed to suplex Williams and then tag out to his father. Luke came in and hit a series of moves on Aldis capped off by a spinning heel kick. Alids then tagged out to Williams and British Invasion hit a double neckbreaker on Luke for the near fall. They continued to work on Luke for a period until Aldis and PJ Hawx both ended up fighting on the outside. As that was happening, Williams hit Chaos Theory on Luke for the win.

An Update On Da Pope

Before the show ended, Joe Galli gave an update on Da Pope. He said Pope is recovering from a concussion and won’t be cleared for a few weeks. Galli then sent it to footage of Cardona throwing Pope into the steel steps at Hard Times 2. Although they didn’t actually show the moment when Pope hit the steel steps, they just showed a still shot followed by footage of the aftermath.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, this was a fun show. I expected a Cardona and Murdoch segment here, but instead we got Aron Stevens interrupting Murdoch’s promo instead. So, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting Cardona vs. Murdoch right away. Stevens appears to be going back to a type of character he portrayed pre-NWA as well.

The British Invasion reuniting should put emphasis on the tag team division as will JTG and Dirty Dango now working as a team. I think we’ll likely see some more new teams to form or debut.

NWA Power results: Nick Aldis, Trevor Murdoch, Chris Adonis, JTG

By Ian Carey for F4WOnline.com

William Patrick Corgan joined the commentary team for this week’s episode.

Nick Aldis defeated NWA National Champion Chris Adonis in a non-title match

The advertised match was Adonis vs. Pope, but that wasn’t the match we got. With Adonis already in the ring, Pope cut a promo and said he had received a phone call from someone recently. That person wanted to come to Power to handle some business: some “Strictly Business” as it was. Pope said he was going to step out of the way and allow this person to do just that. Aldis then ran out from the back and hit the ring to take on Adonis.

Aldis took it to his former stablemate in the early going, backing him up into the corner with strikes. Adonis tried to counter with a poke to the eyes, but even that didn’t slow down Aldis. Aldis hit a Thesz press and looked to go to the top for his big elbow drop but Thom Latimer, who Aldis will face at Hard Times, came out and drew his attention. The distraction allowed Adonis to dropkick his opponent to the floor.

Adonis then wore Aldis down with some elbows, choking him on the bottom rope followed by a chinlock before Aldis made a comeback. Aldis hit a belly-to-back suplex, a few clotheslines, a Michinoku driver and then his top rope elbow for a near fall. Aldis then turned his attention to Latimer on the outside which allowed Adonis to lock in the Masterlock.

Aldis got out of the hold by backing Adonis into the turnbuckle, but Adonis kicked Aldis in the face and tried to come off the second rope with some sort of diving move but Aldis countered into the King’s Lynn Cloverleaf. Aldis stared at Latimer on the outside while holding on to the submission and Adonis eventually tapped out.

Aldis then taunted Latimer, who looked like he was going to hit the ring until Kamille came out and stopped him.

Thom Latimer defeated Jaden Roller

When we got back from commercial break, Corgan was on the microphone and called for Latimer to come back out. Upset with his interference in the previous match, he told him to get in the ring or he was fired. Corgan said he told the back to send someone out for him to face. And with that, we had an impromptu match.

Latimer hit repeated suplexes, bodyslams and a gutbuster on the top rope before taking some time to taunt Corgan for a bit. When he got back in the ring, Roller made a bit of a comeback until Latimer countered a backslide attempt into a piledriver and got the pin with just one finger pressed on his opponent’s chest.

Tyrus/Cyon segment

Tyrus and Cyon will clash at Hard Times 2 with Tyrus’ NWA World Television title at stake.

When we got back from commercial break, May Valentine appeared to have both at ringside for an interview. It soon became clear that this was not the real Cyon, however. Rather, it was Jordan Clearwater dressed as Cyon.

Tyrus grabbed the microphone and asked “Cyon” if this was what he really wanted to do with the title opportunity he earned from being on the winning team in the Champions Series. “Cyon” then said he was very sorry for everything he said. In fact, he was 130% sorry for what he said. Valentine then said “Thanks Jordan” to the man dressed as Cyon as the segment came to an end.

Kenzie Paige defeated Taryn Terrell by countout in a “social distance” match

Before the match could begin, Terrell announced a special stipulation: a “social distance match.” Kenzie Paige and the commentary team seemed very confused by this as nobody aside from Terrell seemed to know what the rules were.

Terrell then tossed a mask at Paige and put one on herself. She then pulled out a tape measure to make sure she and Paige were six feet apart which seems like it would make a wrestling match difficult.

The two then sort of mimed locking up from and Paige somehow threw Terrell into the corner without actually touching her. Terrell slapped the air which led to Paige pretending as though she was hit in the face. This continued for a few more moves until Terrell pulled out some hand sanitizer and sprayed it in Paige’s face. Paige then charged at Terrell who promptly ran away.

Terrell got on the microphone to complain that Paige wasn’t following the rules. While this was going on, the ref counted her out.

JTG & Colby Corino defeated The Rude Dudes (El Rudo, Sam Adonis & Jamie Stanley)

JTG got in some early offense, but it became clear early that he and Corino weren’t entirely on the same page. JTG had Stanley up for a slam but Corino, for some reason, grabbed Stanley’s leg from the outside and prevented JTG from hitting the move and tagged himself in. Corino then hit an olympic slam and a flipping standing senton for a two count. El Rudo then made a blind tag and hit a clothesline on Corino, allowing the Rude Dudes to go on offense for a period.

After Stanley and Rudo worked on Corino for a while, it seemed as though he had an opportunity to tag out to JTG. Corino looked like he was going to tag out but then decided not to and Rudo promptly kicked him in the face. Rudo and Stanley then went right back to working on Corino while making quick tags. Rudo hit a pop-up sit down power bomb for a near fall.

Finally, JTG made a blind tag and entered the match for the first time since the very early going. He hit a slingblade on Rudo and a neckbreaker on Stanley for a two count. Corino came back in and took Rudo to the outside, leaving JTG alone with Stanley. JTG then hit the Brooklyn’s Edge for the win. So despite Corino not being the best teammate early in the match, he and JTG did manage to pull it all together in the end.

Corino then badly missed high-fiving JTG in celebration before the show cut to commercial.

Jax Dane Interview Segment

When we got back from commercial, Dane was standing with Kyle Davis. Dane was on the winning team of the Champions Series, but Davis announced that if Dane was pinned in the main event later, he would lose his opportunity to cash in on a title shot. Dane said this was all a part of the “Corgan conspiracy” against him. On commentary, Corgan said the reason the stipulation was made is that Dane refused to wrestle on a previous episode of Power.

NWA World Champion Trevor Murdoch amd Crimson defeated Jeremiah Plunkett and Jax Dane

Crimson took it to Plunkett to start the match. He hit a shoulder tackle and a suplex before tagging out to Murdoch. The champ hit a spinebuster, three bodyslams in a row, chopped his opponent in the corner, and then got a near fall off a Russian leg sweep. Finally, Plunkett managed to tag out.

Dane then came in and hit a series of kicks and headbutts on Murdoch in the corner before tagging out pretty quickly again. Dane was clearly avoiding being the legal man so he didn’t get pinned and lose his title shot.

Plunkett ended up on offense after raking the eyes. Dane then grabbed Crimson’s legs from the outside and rammed him groin first into the steel post. With Crimson down, Dane was willing to tag back in. Crimson ended up fighting back and tossing Dane into the ring post shoulder first three times in a row. Dane then tagged out again the first chance he got, leaving Plunkett frustrated with his partner.

Dane then just bailed on the match completely and headed to the back. Crimson chased after him and the two brawled through the curtain. This left Murdoch and Plunkett in the ring alone. Murdoch hit a series of strikes and a bodyslam on his opponent before going to the top rope and hitting his bulldog finisher for the win. Murdoch celebrated in the ring as the show came to a close.

Final Thoughts:

The early part of the show really built up the Latimer vs. Aldis match taking place at Hard Times 2 which feels much more important after what took place here.

There wasn’t much talk of the Murdoch vs. Knox title match on the pay-per-view, but Murdoch looked strong in the main event. This was billed as the season six finale so we’ll likely get a special Hard Times preview show next week on FITE.

NWA Power Surge results: Tag Team title eliminator tournament finals

By Ian Carey for F4Wonline.com

Coming off the recent By Any Means Necessary shows the last two weeks, the NWA presented five previously unaired matches for this week’s episode of NWA Power Surge.

Joe Galli teased that there would be some big announcements during the show and he would be correct, but first we headed to the ring for our first match.

JTG and Slice Boogie went to a no contest

JTG seemed to have the advantage in the grappling and striking game early, but then Boogie hid behind the referee and landed a cheap shot to go on offense briefly. JTG then came back with a dropkick and slingblade clothesline. Boogie regained the offense shortly after and landed a springboard elbow and snap vertical suplex for a near fall. JTG then came back and hit a neckbreaker, a few other moves and then a side slam. Shortly after, things got a little chaotic.

JTG went for a superplex, but Boogie pushed him off the turnbuckle. That’s when Colby Corino showed up. Corino and JTG had been partners in the Tag Team title eliminator tournament but JTG didn’t seem to realize he was out there.

Corino got up on the apron and distracted Boogie, allowing JTG to roll him up for a two count. Then, Boogie was in control when Corino got up on the turnbuckle again. This brought out Sal Rinauro who dumped Corino off the ropes and to the floor. Boogie was then so perplexed by this that he completely forgot about JTG and walked toward the ring ropes to see why Corino was now on the floor.

JTG then went after Rinauro and slammed him into the ring. Boogie got into it with Corino and JTG did the same with Rinauro and the ref called for the bell, throwing the match out.

Kiera Hogan defeated Kenzie Paige

Paige got the early advantage until she missed an attack in the corner and Hogan capitalized. After Hogan was on offense for a bit, Paige hit a superkick and both wrestlers were down. Paige came back with a series of clotheslines and an enziguri for a near fall. She then locked in a full nelson and followed that up with a suplex. Hogan then dodged a knee attack, kicked Paige in the head, and hit a fisherman’s neckbreaker for the win.

With the win, Hogan bounced back from her loss to Mickie James in the main event three weeks ago. Paige lost her second in a row after dropping a title match against Kamille at By Any Means Necessary.

Melina defeated Skye Blue

The last time we saw Melina in an NWA ring, she defeated Chelsea Green and Kylie Rae in a triple threat match, earning herself a crack at Kamille and the NWA Women’s Championship in the process. As for Blue, the last time we saw her on Power, she dropped a match to Lady Frost that was contested under Mildred Burke rules.

This was mainly to showcase Melina heading into her title match with Kamille at next month’s Hard Times 2.

After the two exchanged some offense, Melina got a near fall off a headscissors takeover. Blue then seemed to counter a code red attempt, but it looked a little awkward and I can’t say for sure what they intended to do. Regardless, Melina locked in the California Nightmare shortly thereafter and Blue tapped out.

This was a quick match mainly just meant to build Melina up.

BLK Jeez defeated Captain Yuma

Auston Idol was on commentary for this one, hyping up Jeez as much as he can.

Jeez landed a shoulder tackle to start the match, but then Yuma ended up on offense, landing a hip attack and a crossbody shortly after. Then, Jeez tied himself up in the ropes and raked Yuma’s eyes when the ref separated them which impressed Idol very much. Jeez landed a heart punch, just as Tyrus does, but it didn’t seem to have much impact on Yuma.

Jeez then locked him in a modified straightjacket as Idol made it clear he taught him that move. Yuma made a comeback, but eventually Jeez ducked an attack, landed a brain buster followed by a frog splash and looked to have the match won but he picked Yuma up instead of pinning him. He then hit Tyrus’ heart punch again but this time, he was able to pin Yuma afterward. Idol was very impressed by all of this.

Mike Knox attacks Trevor Murdoch

Before the main event, we were shown highlights of what happened after By Any Means Necessary went off the air. NWA World Champion Trevor Murdoch was inside the steel cage taking photos with fans when Mike Knox stormed the cage and attacked. He locked it so nobody could get inside, attacked Murdoch with a chair, and then choked him out with a shirt. The whole roster came out to try and stop the attack, but none of them were able to climb the cage and were left helpless. William Patrick Corgan came out and demanded that Knox leave the cage.

We then cut to Galli who officially announced that Knox will challenge Murdoch for the World title at Hard Times 2 on December 4th — a fairly big angle to play out on Power Surge.

The End (Odinson & Parrow) defeated Hawx Aerie (Luke Hawx & PJ Hawx) in the Tag Team title eliminator tournament finals

The main event was the finals of a tournament to determine the no. 1 contenders for the NWA Tag Team titles held by La Rebelion.

Heading into this one, the End defeated Cyon & Jordan Clearwater in the opening round and then Aaron Stevens and JR Kratos in the semifinals. Hawx Aerie defeated JTG and Colby Corino in the first round and then Mims and Sal Rinauro in the semifinals. Corgan joined the commentary team for this one.

Parrow and Luke Hawx started things off, but PJ Hawx quickly tagged himself in. He landed a dropkick on Parrow and then Odinson tagged himself in. PJ eventually fell victim to the size and strength advantage as Corgan pointed out on commentary.

The End spent some time beating down PJ while taunting Luke on the outside until eventually the son made the hot tag to his father. Luke hit a few kicks before he was caught by Parrow and put in an Electric Chair position, setting him up for the End’s finisher. Odinson came off the top with an elbow and pinned Luke for the win.

After the match, the winners walked over to the commentary booth and Parrow told La Rebelion there would be no more hiding and they were coming for the titles. That match will take place at Hard Times 2.

Final Thoughts:

For an episode of Power Surge, essentially the NWA’s B show, some big things happened. We got an angle for the World title match at Hard Times 2 and saw the finals of the tag team tournament to determine the next top contenders. It was a fairly important episode for the NWA.

NWA Power results: By Any Means Necessary part two

Crimson opened the show talking about the cage match he was having with Jax Dane later, with his son by his side. Crimson promised consequences for what Jax Dane did, turning on him at the NWA Anniversary show.

Tim Storm was with Kyle Davis in the ring. The crowd was going crazy. Storm talked about his match with Jaden Roller tonight. Roller ran down to the ring and attacked Storm before he could say anything, and Davis made a quick exit from the ring. Roller asked for a No DQ match and Storm agreed as the show started.

Tim Storm defeated Jaden Roller in a no DQ match

Fun opening match that told a simple story.

Storm immediately made Roller pay, choking him with his shirt and starting to brawl around the ring. Storm hit a big boot and a few forearms. Storm sent Roller to the floor and hit some chops and sent him headfirst into the stairs. Roller floated over a bodyslam and hit a low blow in the ring, then a second.

Roller grabbed a chair from under the ring and nailed Storm in the back with it. Roller set up a chair in the corner. Storm got sent into the chair after Roller reversed a neckbreaker, and Roller hit a bodyslam and an elbow for a two-count.

Roller set the chair up in the middle of the ring and hit a drop toe hold on the chair. Roller tried to axe kick Storm into the chair, but Storm moved and Roller crotched himself on the chair. Storm then hit a DDT onto the chair and pinned Roller.

Kyle Davis was with Trevor Murdoch and Nick Aldis. Murdoch thanked Aldis for joining him and helping him against Latimer and Adonis. Aldis said this was personal for him after Thom Latimer, his former friend, turned on him after all he did to help him. I like this babyface Aldis, and seeing him team with Murdoch is fun.

Kamille defeated Kenzie Paige to retain the NWA World Women’s Championship in a 2/3 falls Match

The near falls towards the end of this match was awesome. Kenzie Paige got all the crowd behind her so easily as soon as she started showing that she had a chance in the second fall. Paige took most of the second fall, making it easier for the crowd to invest. This was great.

Kamille threw Paige across the ring immediately, using her superior power. Kamille hit a gutwrench suplex and a running slam into the corner. Kamille continued to get the heat with basic offence for the next few minutes. Kamille went for another power slam, but Paige slipped out and hit some chops and a hard back elbow.

Kamille missed a corner charge, but connected with a pump kick and a swinging neckbreaker for the first fall. Kamille went for a spear as soon as the second fall started, but Paige dodged and Kamille crashed into the ring post. Paige drove Kamille into the guardrail and then suplexed her on the ramp. Kamille kicked out of a pinfall attempt in the ring.

Kamille went for another swinging neckbreaker, but Paige countered into a pinfall attempt. A few attempts were exchanged until Paige hit a superkick and a Samoan drop for a two count. Paige climbed to the top rope, but Kamille threw her off and went for a spear again, but Paige dodged and rolled Kamille up for a near fall. Kamille dodged a corner charge, and Paige turned around into a spear for a three count, winning 2 falls to 0.

Strictly Business (Thom Latimer & Chris Adonis) came down to the ring with cake for Kamille, as they were celebrating her birthday. Latimer demanded the crowd sing happy birthday to Kamille, but he immediately stopped them and got Kyle Davis to do it instead, but Nick Aldis interrupted it, and it looks like Murdoch and Aldis will be taking on Strictly Business right now.

Trevor Murdoch & Nick Aldis defeated Strictly Business (Thom Latimer & Chris Adonis) with Kamille

This was a great tag match, with the babyfaces going over. I really liked Aldis wrestling as a babyface here. Murdoch was good too, showing great babyface fire.

Joe Galli made the comment that Aldis was out for months after Latimer hit him with several piledrivers, but we only saw it happen a few weeks ago on TV. I suppose it’s sort of true if we count when the TV was taped vs. when it aired, but that was a weird comment. It has been about 2 months since the NWA 73rd Anniversary show.

Murdoch and Adonis started the match, but once Aldis got in there with Latimer, Latimer tried everything he could to stay away from him. Latimer tried to hit Aldis with a monkey flip, but Aldis landed on his feet, which was impressive. Kamille got involved, which allowed Strictly Business to get the heat on Aldis.

Aldis cut Latimer off when he went to the top rope and hit a superplex. Aldis made the tag to Murdoch, who took out Adonis but ate a clothesline from Latimer. They went right back to the heat here, with Latimer and Adonis isolating Murdoch. Murdoch hit a back elbow when Adonis charged the corner and hit a crossbody, but Latimer knocked Aldis off the apron before a tag could be made.

Murdoch finally made the tag and Aldis finally was able to get his hands on Latimer, hitting a tombstone and a flying elbow, but Adonis broke up the pinfall. Adonis and Murdoch brawled at ringside and Adonis shoved Murdoch into the ring post. Latimer hit a low blow on Adonis when the referee wasn’t looking.

Latimer hit an implant DDT on Aldis. Murdoch hit a pop-up spinebuster on Adonis. Latimer hit a pop-up powerbomb on Murdoch, which was impressive. Aldis powerbombed Latimer, then Adonis hit a spinebuster on Murdoch. Aldis put the Cloverleaf on Adonis, but Kamille pulled him to the ropes.

Kamille went to spear Aldis, but he moved and she hit Adonis. Aldis threw Kamille into Latimer and then Murdoch hit a flying bulldog off the top rope on Adonis, scoring the pinfall in this excellent tag match.

Jax Dane defeated Crimson in a cage match

That was a good cage match to end the show, with Jax Dane acting like the perfect heel. We know that without cheating, Crimson would have likely won.

Jax Dane waited at the entrance area for Crimson, but Crimson predicted this and came in through the crowd and got one up on Dane. Crimson and Dane brawled around ringside, with Crimson suplexing Dane on the entrance ramp. Dane sent Crimson’s head into the stairs and threw a chair into the cage.

Dane brought Crimson into the ring and the bell rang. Dane loaded up something in his hand and nailed Crimson, but hid it from the referee. It’s a cage match though, so why would he need to hide it? Either way, Crimson was busted open, and Dane worked him over. Dane wiped the blood off his hands on the referee’s shirt and continued to attack Crimson’s wound.

Crimson soon ended up wearing a crimson mask, pardon the pun, bleeding all over his face. Crimson powerbombed Dane out of the corner, but ate a big boot on a corner charge and then a clothesline from Dane. Crimson drove Dane’s face into the cage a few times and hit a spinebuster on Dane before hitting a huge elbow drop off the top rope for a two-count.

Crimson picked up the chair as Dane went for a spear. Dane accidentally smashed headfirst into the chair. Crimson hit a Death Valley Driver on Dane in the middle of the ring. Dane ended up throwing powder into the eyes of Crimson, but Crimson still kicked out. Dane pulled a bottle of rubbing alcohol out from the apron and poured it onto the open wound and eyes of Crimson before hitting another clothesline for the three count.

Final Thoughts:

The last two episodes of NWA Power were fantastic. If they could get crowds like this for all their TV tapings, and maybe focus on having 1 or 2 matches of the calibre they had this show per episode, Power would feel like a really hot show every week. I loved both of the By Any Means Necessary episodes, and I hope we see more special ones like this in the future.

NWA Power results: By Any Means Necessary, part one

This week’s episode of NWA Power featured the first part of a special show they recently taped in Kentucky called By Any Means Necessary, and thus was longer than the usual episode.

Jax Dane opened the show with Kyle Davis as they announced a cage match between him and Crimson to settle their differences after they broke up as a tag team. Dane promised to destroy him, and blamed Crimson for everything that led to their break up.

The Pope came down to the ring for an interview with Joe Galli. Pope took the mic and hyped the crowd up for the show, but was cut off by Colby Corino, who came to ringside with The Fixers (Jay Bradley & Wrecking Ball Legursky). Pope said that he was going to give Corino the whipping that his father Steve Corino should have given him.

Velvet Sky claimed that she had a shouting match with Austin Idol about store bought Rice Crispy Treats vs. homemade ones, and I found this amusing.

Pope defeated Colby Corino

The crowd was on fire for this match, and having a big audience makes a huge difference for these NWA shows. The crowd turned a decent opening match into a really fun one to watch, as they were with the wrestlers the entire way.

As the match started, Velvet Sky gave us a bit of background on Wrecking Ball Legursky, telling us he was trained by Matt Taven & Bully Ray. Pope beat Corino all around the ring in the opening moments, hitting punches, an inverted atomic drop, and a fist drop. Pope lit Corino up with chops in the corner, which made the crowd roar with approval.

Pope went for a Bionic Elbow, but Corino poked Pope in the eyes and then went for a double stomp, but he missed. Pope rolled Corino up, but was soon locked in a crossface, but Pope escaped and then ate a superkick. Pope managed to get to his feet and hit some forearms, including a flying one off the ropes.

Pope blocked an eye poke and then hit a big flying crossbody on Corino for a two-count. Pope hit a neckbreaker and then called for the Elijah Express. The Fixers got involved to distract the referee and Corino took advantage and hit the Corino Crash for a two-count. The Ill Begotten (Captain Yuma & Russ Freeman) came out to yell at Corino for cheating, and Pope countered an abdominal stretch into a cradle for a pinfall victory.

The Fixers got into the ring and challenged The Ill Begotten to an impromptu tag match.

The Fixers defeated The Ill Begotten

Good squash here to get The Fixers over as monsters.

Russ Freeman ate a cannonball in the corner from Legursky, and then they double teamed Yuma, with Legursky hitting a powerslam. The Fixers beat on Yuma for a bit, dominating the smaller man. Yuma managed to crawl to his corner and tag in Freeman after dodging a big boot.

Freeman tried to take it to both men at the same time, but paid for it when he went for a belly-to-belly on Bradley. Legursky no sold a jawbreaker and then The Fixers hit a tag team powerbomb/back suplex on Yuma and a double brainbuster on Freeman for the pinfall.

The Fixers grabbed a mic and said that they were in the NWA to take payment from the highest bidder and that they were going to take on anyone in their way. As they were talking, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett (The OGK) came out to challenge them! A second impromptu match began between The Fixers and the Kingdom.

The OGK (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated The Fixers

This match was awesome. Taven and Bennett were fantastic here, and the Fixers were the right guys to keep the heat on them. I normally don’t like a lot of impromptu matches, but the way this was executed with The Fixers destroying The Ill Begotten really helped with this match. This was great.

Taven and Bennet ran down to the ring and immediately started fighting with the bigger men, but it wasn’t long before The Fixers had isolated Taven. Taven dodged a corner strike after Galli shouted out Ring of Honor, AEW, and Impact as partners with the NWA, which always makes me smile.

Taven hit a dropkick on Legursky and then hit a suicide dive on the other side of the ring taking out Bradley. Taven then hit a huge dive over the top rope to the floor on Legursky. Taven went to the top rope but was shoved off into Legursky who stood there like a wall, and Taven crashed to the mat.

The Fixers beat on Taven, getting the heat on him with some big man offence. Legursky chopped Taven at ringside as Sky and Austin Idol bickered on commentary to the point of annoyance. When both of them focus on the match, it is far better. Taven tried a sunset flip, but Legursky stopped it but missed a dropkick. Taven hit a PK and then tagged in Bennett, who ran wild.

Bennett went for a rolling elbow, but Legursky blocked it and went for a chokeslam. Bennett countered and hit a dropkick to the knee. Taven and Bennett superkicked Bradley and sent him to the floor before hitting a double superkick Legursky, but he no sold it and hit a double clothesline on both men. Bennett hit a big spear, and then Taven hit a frog splash for the pinfall on Legursky.

The Sinister Minster was with Judias, and he addressed Sal Rinauro challenging him for his shot at the NWA National Championship. He told Rinauro that he would grant him the match, but if he lost, he would have to give up challenging for the NWA National title for 18 months (6+6+6).

Judias (with The Sinister Minister) defeated Sal Rinauro (with Danny Deals)

This is the best Judias has looked since he started in the NWA, with Rinauro bumping around like crazy to make him look good. Rinauro sold like crazy here, and while Judias isn’t that good, he at least looked good in this match.

Judias threw Rinauro across the ring and then hit some ugly looking punches in the corner. Rinauro went for a crossbody on Judias, but Judias caught him and hit a fall away slam. Judias did the Garvin stomps on Rinauro before hitting an elbow drop for a 2-count.

Judias continued his beating on Rinauro, but he kept kicking out. Rinauro dodged a corner charge and hit a handspring stunner, a superkick, and a flying clothesline on Judias for a two-count. Rinauro missed a second flying clothesline and ate a back suplex bomb. Judias then hit a Crucifix Bomb for the win.

The Hex (Marti Belle & Allysin Kay) defeated Tootie Lynn & Thunder Kitty to retain the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship

This was fine. Marti Belle did spend most of the match selling, but mistimed the finish slightly, falling a bit too late as Kay wheelbarrowed Thunder Kitty. I’m glad that they seem to be learning that Belle is best selling though, which improved this greatly.

Lynn started the match with Kay, with Kay hitting a side walk slam on Lynn and immediately isolating her from her corner. Thunder Kitty made the tag by slapping Lynn in the back of the head. Kitty used some cheating tactics, which Lynn was not happy about, yelling that she did whatever she wanted at her own partner.

Belle dodged a corner charge and rolled Kitty up, but Kitty rolled through and hit a punch. Kitty yelled at Lynn more as Lynn tagged in, and Sky informed us that she sensed tension between the two. You know, I think she might be right. Kay tagged in and hit a huge pump kick on Kitty, but Lynn made the save when The Hex went for Hex Marks the Spot. Belle kicked Lynn and then hit the Hexlaimation Point on Kitty for the pinfall.

Marti Belle and Allysin Kay claimed they were going to take the tag titles anywhere and defend against all challengers, so it’s possible we might see them showing up in some other promotions soon.

A hype video aired for Cyon and Tyrus over the NWA Television Championship. This was a well done video, summarizing their feud, and announcing their match on December 4th at NWA Hard Times II

Cyon defeated Mims

Holy cow, this was a good match. There was very little in terms of spectacular moves, but everything was paced well, and it drew the fans into what was happening very well. The NWA has something in Mims, and I hope they see it, because he was awesome in this one. Cyon held his own too. I didn’t expect to be into this as much as I was, but it was excellent.

Cyon must have been working out hard lately, as he was quite cut here compared to some of his other appearances. Mims and Cyon had a good back and forth early on, and I really liked how Cyon sold some headbutts from Mims. He tried to not sell it, but couldn’t after a few.

Mims hit a back suplex on the apron on Cyon, but Cyon was able to reverse an Irish whip at ringside and sent Mims crashing into the stairs. Cyon slammed Mims in the ring and hit a series of elbows to the chest. Cyon hit a back elbow that sent Mims to the mat.

Cyon took Mims over with a back drop that was almost like a Northern Lights suplex. The bickering between Sky and Idol really hurt this match, as they argued about Billy Corgan firing Idol. Poor Joe Galli tried to keep them on track, trying to focus on the match, but they just kept going.

Cyon hit a back suplex on Mims, but Mims rolled towards the ropes before a pin could be attempted. Cyon locked on some sort of arm submission, triangling the arm with his legs. Mims lifted Cyon right off the mat and powerbombed him, which the crowd popped huge for.

Mims nailed Cyon with a clothesline that sent him flipping backwards. Mims hit a Big Strong Slam on Cyon, but he got his foot on the ropes. Mims climbed to the top rope, but Cyon cut him off and hit a superplex for a 2-count. Cyon went back with the North/South elbows to the chest of Mims.

Cyon hit a Death Valley Driver on Mims, but he kicked out at two. As both men stood up, Mims rocked Cyon with a headbutt and went for a brainbuster, but Cyon grabbed the tope rope to block it, hit a twisting neckbreaker, and then locked on the Mask of Pain in the middle of the ring on Mims.

Mims fired up and tried to make the ropes, but Cyon stomped on the free hand with his foot and Mims ended up passing out in the hold.

Final Thoughts:

This was an excellent edition of NWA Power. If they could make more shows like this while maintaining quality promos, the show would be outstanding every week. The hot crowd really helped, and while this was a longer edition of the show, it was a very easy watch. I am really looking forward to part two of By Any Means Necessary, especially if we continue to get in ring action like this.

NWA Empower Power results: Mickie James vs. Kiera Hogan

This week’s show was taped in St. Louis, Missouri.

Cyon opened this week’s all-women’s Empower-themed NWA Power by cutting a promo about how he wasn’t going to trust anyone in the NWA again and that he was going to get focused on his mission: winning gold in the NWA, challenging Tyrus for the TV title. This was a good promo to open the show.

Melina defeated Chelsea Green and Kylie Rae in an NWA Women’s title number one contender’s match

This was a perfectly acceptable opening match. Everyone had a brief chance to shine, but it really didn’t have enough time to get going. I wouldn’t mind seeing all three of these women wrestle again at some point.

Melina kicked Green and threw her to the floor before hitting both a shoulder block and DDT on Rae. Green pulled Melina from the ring and attacked her around ringside. Rae hit a superkick on Green and then hit a dive onto the floor, but Rae hit the cast on Green’s arm to take most of the damage.

Green hit a suicide dive onto both Rae and Melina. She fell a little short, but still managed to fall safely thanks to Melina and Rae catching her upper body. Green hit a dropkick on Melina, Rae hit a superkick on Green and then Melina locked a California Nightmare on both women, but they countered into a neckbreaker.

Green went for a Unprettier, but Melina was able to counter to score the pinfall.

— May Valentine was with Women’s Champion Kamille who made it clear she wanted to be on this special show. She challenged hometown girl Tootie Lynn and had nothing to say about why Thom Latimer and Strictly Business recently turned on Nick Aldis. Kyle Davis said before the match that if Lynn won, she would get a title shot against Kamille.

NWA Women’s Champion Kamille defeated Tootie Lynn in a non-title match

Lynn rolled up Kamile for a two count and then hit a hurricanrana. Kamille rolled to the floor and argued with Davis about his earlier announcement. Kamille came back into the ring and hit a suplex on Lynn that got one. Kamille got most of the offense after this, but after a very brief Lynn comeback, Kamille finished her off with a spear.

Lady Frost defeated Skye Blue in a Burke’s Rules match

We were informed that in a Mildred Burke Rules match, you couldn’t use a closed fist, couldn’t throw someone over the top rope and couldn’t use top rope moves. I know they like the idea, but I find the old rules like that to be a detriment to a good match.

Blue hit a few armdrags to send Frost to the floor. They exchanged a few holds, including Frost backflipping out of an arm twist, but she ate a superkick from Blue. Frost got to her feet relatively quickly and got a camel clutch on Blue, but had to stop herself from throwing Blue over the top rope.

Frost kicked Blue in the face and went for a moonsault, but stopped on the top rope. Blue responded with a kneelift for a near fall. Frost hit a spinning kick and climbed the ropes to do the moonsault anyway, but Blue knocked her off. Frost rolled Blue up and yanked the tights for leverage and got the win in a terrible finish.

Why would Frost go for the moonsault anyway? Blue looked weak losing after immediately knocking Frost off the ropes. It could have been fun without that rules handicap as everything they did was actually quite good.

— JR Kratos was with May Valentine and cut a promo giving credit to all the women for how great NWA Empower was. He addressed Aron Stevens briefly and their recent troubles with losing, but spent most of his promo talking about how great The Hex was. The End came out and Parrow grabbed the mic to rant about how annoyed he was with Kratos and Stevens, saying that he worked hard for his spot every week and promised to hurt anyone on the roster in his way.

NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions The Hex (Allysin Kay & Marti Belle) (w/ Kenzie Paige) defeated Jennacide & Paola Blaze (w/ Taryn Terrell) to retain their titles

Marti Belle got lost quite badly at the start of this match. Kay, Blaze, and Jennacide all looked quite good though, but it’s clear that Belle is a step behind the others.

Belle started with Blaze and Belle hit the ropes. Blaze went for a drop down, but Belle just stopped, picked her up slowly and locked on a headlock before tagging out. I think she got lost immediately. Kay came in and hit a backbreaker before tagging out to Belle, who hit a PK.

Terrell distracted Belle and Blaze hit an X-Factor for a near fall. Jennacide tagged in and did some squats while slamming Belle. I think it’s best if Belle does nothing but sell, because any time she was on offense, she got lost. When she was selling, she seemed relatively okay.

Belle hit a bad kick to Jennacide’s gut before hitting a DDT. Blaze and Kay tagged in and Kay threw Blaze all over the ring. Terrell got on the apron to interfere and Paige pulled her from the apron, leading to her crashing brutally face-first onto it. I hope she was okay after that. Kay and Belle hit Hex Marks the Spot for the win to retain.

— Melina cut a very excited promo about her chance at the Womens’ title. She showed real emotion and it seemed like this really meant a lot to her. Excellent stuff.

— Da Pope got a phone call before the main event and had to leave the announce table, looking concerned.

Mickie James defeated Kiera Hogan

This was a solid main event. James was excellent as always and Hogan was able to keep pace. They stuck the basics with a lot of headlocks and pinfall counters, but it worked perfectly and played into the finish with James finally getting the last and best counter. That was a nice little story and it goes to show that you can keep it basic and still have a very good match.

Hogan and James hugged before the match with a nice show of mutual love. They shared a test of strength that ended with Hogan taking out James’ legs. There were some bridging attempts and pinfall attempts with Hogan trying to hold James down.

James took Hogan to the mat for a pinfall attempt. She kept control with hammerlocks and other basic wrestling techniques. James took her over with a headlock, but Hogan was able to counter into a leg scissors. James was able to bridge and then do a kick up out of it. That was a simple, but really cool spot.

Hogan and James exchanged some pinfall attempts with neither able to get the advantage. Hogan charged the corner, but ate an elbow and then a hurricanrana from James. James went for a DDT, but Hogan threw her into the corner. Hogan hit a clothesline, back elbow, and baseball slide dropkick, but James kicked out of the pin attempt. Hogan went for the DDT, but James countered into a school girl roll-up for the pinfall.

Final Thoughts —

This episode didn’t really advance any stories in a major way with the exception of Melina becoming the no. 1 contender and Parrow promising to destroy everyone in the company.

The tag match was fine when Belle wasn’t on offense, but she continues to be a weak link in the ring. I think she would do well to take the approach James took with Hogan: keep your matches basic. Don’t overcomplicate things and it usually turns into a decent match if you keep it simple.

Lynn should be a star someday. She has exceptional charisma and I would love to see the NWA (or anyone else) do more with her. She is one to watch for the future.

NWA Power results: Tag Team title eliminator tournament semifinals

NWA Power opened with Joe Galli and Velvet Sky welcoming World Champion Trevor Murdoch to the announce booth for tonight’s episode.

Hawx Aerie (Luke & PJ Hawx) defeated Sal Rinauro & Mims (w/ Danny Deals) in a Tag Team title eliminator tournament semifinal match

Mims used his power advantage over Luke to take control during the first half of the match. Luke gained momentum with a shoulder tackle on Mims which allowed him enough time to tag in PJ.

PJ and Rinauro both showcased nice technical wrestling, but Rinauro took control by avoiding an armdrag. PJ used his amateur wrestling prowess to gain multiple near falls on Rinauro. Deals distracted the referee twice, which eventually backfired as PJ claimed another near fall on Rinauro.

After tagging in, Luke landed a series of shoulderbreakers into a running slam to regain momentum for the Hawx family. Deals jumped on the apron for a third time which was finally enough for the referee to eject him from ringside. Rinauro blocked an Irish whip which allowed him to tag in Mims and keep the action in their corner. Mims powerslammed PJ followed by Rinauro hitting an assisted leg drop for another two count.

PJ reversed an Irish whip with a knee to the midsection of Rinauro. Mims hit the ring but was met by a leg lariat taking him out. PJ locked the Hawx Clutch on Rinauro, who tapped out. Luke and PJ Hawx are moving on to the finals of the tournament.

— Kyle Davis interviewed The Pope on a closed set, which he apparently requested. Pope addressed all the speculation about when he would cash in his opportunity for the NWA World title. He stated he has great respect for Murdoch and was one of the first people to congratulate him after he became champion. Pope said he wouldn’t cash in on an unexpecting Murdoch.

— Chelsea Green, Melina and Kylie Rae were on set with Davis. Green yelled at the crowd, claiming that everyone knows she should be champion. Melina stated she wanted redemption for getting punched in the face. Rae did her typical “I’m just happy to be here” and “all of us are worthy challengers” gimmick.

NWA World Television Champion Tyrus (w/ Austin Idol) defeated Jordan Clearwater (w/ BLK Jeez)

The bell rang, but both BLK Jeez and Idol stayed in the ring to exchange pleasantries. On commentary, Galli rightfully acknowledged that the two wrestlers are trying to run out the match time clock. Finally, with 3:30 left, Clearwater landed multiple big boots on a distracted Tyrus which resulted in a two count.

Clearwater put Tyrus in a figure four leg lock, but Tyrus reached the ropes to force a break. Tyrus recovered while Clearwater argued with Idol at ringside. Tyrus then hit his heart punch for the win.

After the match, May Valentine interviewed Tyrus and Idol. She said that was a weird match which Tyrus agreed with. He stated that no other company in the world makes two team members fight each other for championships. Tyrus then called on everyone to celebrate the new NWA champion: his cousin, Trevor Murdoch. A “Trevor” chant began which prompt Tyrus to storm off the set.

— Back at the podium with Davis was Mickie James who was asked about the success of the Empower show. James thanked Billy Corgan and the NWA for allowing her to put on the best pay-per-view of all time. She stated that Empower was just the beginning of the NWA showcasing women talent. Kiera Hogan interrupted and apologized for previously being a hothead.

Hogan asked James why she’s leaving her off the next Empower show which James explained that she is going to have her on the show. Hogan said she came to the NWA to wrestle James and was getting frustrated that she didn’t want to wrestle her. James said this isn’t how matches are made in the NWA and they could talk about this in private. Both were clearly frustrated and stormed off.

— Kamille and Thom Latimer joined Davis at the podium. Latimer explained his relationship with former NWA champion Nick Aldis. He mentioned how Aldis always made more than him per show in the UK and that he was always second to Aldis no matter where he went. He argued that Aldis used him his entire career to further himself. Latimer brought Aldis’ son into it and said he should apologize to him for everything that’s happened recently.

— James Storm came out to the podium. He claimed that pro wrestling has always been a huge part of his life. He made his intentions and no. 1 goal clear: regaining the NWA National Championship.

The End (Parrow & Odinson) defeated Kratos & Aron Stevens in a Tag Team title eliminator tournament semifinal match

The End attacked Kratos and Stevens as they made their way onto the apron. Stevens made it in the ring and the match officially started. Odinson dominated the beginning of the match while commentary pointed out that Stevens doesn’t seem like himself.

Kratos and Parrow tagged in and both men hit running lariats on each other with Kratos seeming the least phased by this. Kratos landed a big powerslam on Parrow for a near fall.

Parrow went to attack Stevens in the corner which distracted both him and the referee. While the referee got Stevens back on the tag rope, Odinson landed a dropkick to the back of Kratos’ head. Parrow and Odinson continued to use their signature tag team moves on Kratos, resulting in multiple near falls.

Kratos recovered and hit a devastating forearm on Odinson which allowed him to tag in Stevens. As soon as Stevens entered, he missed a swinging lariat which Odinson reversed into a schoolboy for the pinfall to advance.

The End will meet Hawx Aerie in the finals of the tournament with the winners earning a title shot.

As Galli closed the show, Kratos was seen shoving Stevens at ringside.

Final Thoughts:

During the TV championship match, Murdoch claimed the NWA is all about wrestling. I’m not sure what he meant by that because this show was laced with subpar promos and very little wrestling. The few matches we did get were average at best. I’m not sure who the NWA is targeting for their audience. Seasons one and two of Power were great, but I can’t recommend this show to anyone in its current state.

I hate hearing the NWA is for “old school” fans. Each week, I watch a retro Mid-Atlantic show and they are 10x better than what the NWA is currently putting out. I want the NWA to succeed, but it’s a disaster when they put people on the podium who are clearly not comfortable with it. Subpar matches with excessive talking segments make for a dull show on a weekly basis.

NWA Power results: Aldis & Storm vs. Adonis & Latimer

This week’s edition of NWA Power opened up with three good promos to open the show, all building future matches.

Kamille opened this week’s show with Kyle Davis and was asked about how Nick Aldis asked Thom Latimer and Chris Adonis to back down from fighting with Tim Storm last week that set up Storm and Aldis teaming against Latimer and Adonis tonight.

Without elaborating further, the NWA Women’s Champion said it was just some business that the men needed to work out. She then called out Melina, saying that she was too old and would never be the champion but they were still going to face off soon.

World Champion Trevor Murdoch then came out and cut a promo on Jax Dane, calling him a coward for trying to cash in his title shot after Murdoch injured his knee in the tag team main event last week. Murdoch said he wouldn’t back down and would fight him if he asks for it.

Pope came out and joined Murdoch at the podium and promised that if he was going to challenge for the World title, he was going to do it the right way and set a date. Pope promised news about what title he was going to challenge for next week.

Tag Team Champions La Rebelion (Bestia 666 & Mecha Wolf) defeated The Ill Begotten (Rush Freeman & Captain Yuma) and Slice Boogie & Marshe Rockett in a three-way, non-title lucha scramble

This match was awesome. It was a total spotfest where all three teams looked fantastic. La Rebelion has done a great job bringing life to the division since they have joined the NWA. If you watch one match from tonight, make it this one.

This was an elimination match where both members of a team must be eliminated to crown a winner. The champions spent the first part of this match in charge, showing why they are the champs. Yuma got a brief advantage, including hitting a dive to the floor, but Bestia 666 got back into the ring, hit a V Trigger-esque knee on Yuma and then a muscle buster to eliminate him.

Boogie came in and hit a slingshot over the top rope into a German suplex in the ring on Wolf. He then hit a Brooklyn’s Edge on Bestia 666 to eliminate him. Wolf came into the ring with a tornado DDT to pin Boogie.

Freeman hit a blue thunder driver on Wolf and Rockett hit a cutter on Freeman to eliminate him, so the match came down to Wolf vs. Rockett. Both men exchanged hard chops that had the crowd cheering loudly for every blow. Rockett missed a cutter and Wolf hit a 450 to score the win.

— Aron Stevens and Kratos were at the podium and Kyle Davis asked why they were still teaming after losing the Tag Team titles. Kratos took the mic and said his answer hasn’t changed from last time because he believes in brotherhood. If Stevens did, no one could stop them. This was an excellent promo from Kratos here.

James Storm defeated Judias (w/ The Sinister Minister)

I said it last week, but Judias is horrible. Everything he does looks bad and he has less than zero charisma. We know absolutely nothing about him, other than the Sinister Minister is with him for some reason. Storm did everything he could with this one.

Davis announced that there must be a winner in this match, but then announced the 15-minute time limit right after which doesn’t make sense. Judias went for a snake eyes, but Storm slipped out and hit a clothesline that sent Judias to the floor. Storm smashed Judias into the ring steps, but got distracted by the Sinister Minister.

Judias hit an ugly armdrag and then a fallaway slam in the ring. Judias fishhooked Storm and hit a clothesline. He called for a power bomb, but Storm slipped out and hit a superkick for the quick pinfall.

— Kylie Rae was with May Valentine and talked about her upcoming match with Lady Frost. Allysin Kay and Marti Belle came out and Kay said that she was going to make Lady Frost pay for interfering in her match last week and that the NWA already approved the match between them. Kylie Rae asked about her match with Lady Frost, so Kay said she might as well get in the ring too. Thus, we have an impromptu triple threat.

Kylie Rae defeated Lady Frost & Allysin Kay in a three-way

This was an excellent little match here as all three women put forth a great effort.

Rae made Kay regret adding her to the match right away with a superkick. Frost hit a corner kick on her and then did a cartwheel off the back of Rae and hit a dropkick. That was awesome. Kay recovered from the superkick and hit a German suplex on Frost that sent her to the floor.

Rae did a headscissors on Kay into a crossface, but Kay fought out, picked up Rae and hit a samoan drop. Frost came back in and went for a moonsault off the top rope, but Rae superkicked Kay who fell into the ropes, knocking Frost from the ropes. Rae locked on the Charity Case for the tapout.

— Davis was trying to interview the last two teams in the tag team tournament, though I am not sure they are the last two as they have called the matches last week the quarterfinals and semifinals both times in the show. They also had La Rebelion cut a promo on the winners last week before the tournament even ended. Not to mention we have never seen brackets, so I honestly have no idea what is going on with this tournament.

Unfortunately, the promo did not clear it up because TV Champion Tyrus and his crew came out and chased them off. Tyrus then cut a promo on the all the liberals in the crowd, saying they should go vape and watch CNN.

He announced that Jordan Clearwater was going to be his next challenger when Clearwater is in his crew. This promo sucked. If Tyrus stuck to the topic instead of talking about politics, it might have been okay, but it’s clear he is not working for the fans. This was absolutely horrible.

Nick Aldis & Tim Storm defeated Thom Latimer & National Champion Chris Adonis

This was a quick tag match, but did the job of furthering the story between Aldis and Strictly Business with a fantastic closing angle.

Aldis started by wrestling Latimer and soon thereafter tagged in Storm. Storm started to get overwhelmed by Adonis and it wasn’t long before they were working over his knee. Velvet Sky called Aldis ‘Magnus’ on commentary which Joe Galli covered for by saying it was because she’s known him for so long.

Storm hit an elbow, a big boot, and a neckbreaker on Adonis before making the tag to Aldis. Aldis tagged in and ran wild, hitting a Thesz press on Latimer. Aldis hit a Michinoku driver on Latimer, but Adonis broke up the pinfall and started yelling at Aldis about what he was doing. Latimer went for a victory roll on Latimer, but Aldis countered it into a pinfall and got the win.

Latimer shook hands with Aldis after the match and then Storm. Adonis came back in the ring and low-blowed Storm and Aldis was asking what was happening. Latimer then low-blowed Aldis. He grabbed a chair and destroyed Storm and Aldis before piledriving Aldis twice in the ring and then once on the chair. The rest of Strictly Business left Aldis laying in the ring.

Mickie James came out and was at her husband’s side as he was stretchered out of the arena as the show went off the air. This was a fantastic angle to close the show and the crowd booed Strictly Business out of the building.

Final Thoughts:

This was an action-packed episode of NWA Power and one of the best ones they have done in a long time. A lot happened on this show — far more than usual.

It featured both great promos and a huge angle to close the show. Everything clicked, barring Judias.

The rest of the show, however, was good. The in-ring action peaked with the lucha scramble, but the rest of the show held pace for the most part. This was a very good episode of NWA Power.

NWA Power results: Three-way tag team match

Strictly Business opened this week’s show with Tim Storm, asking them about what happened with Melina & World Champion Trevor Murdoch. They challenged Storm to a fight for questioning them. Thom Latimer, Chris Adonis and Kamille circled the ring and were getting ready to attack him as Joe Galli tried to stop it, but Nick Aldis made his way to the ring instead and cut them off, saying that it wasn’t the time or place to do this.

They all backed down, but were eying Aldis suspiciously. This was a really simple, but good opening angle. The tension in Strictly Business is building here and I like this new direction with Aldis.

Melina was with May Valentine at the podium and she cut a promo on Kamille, indicating that someone, someday was going to take the title from her. Chelsea Green came out with her trophy from the last PPV, claiming that Melina has done nothing for the business, and that she should be champion.

Tag Team Title eliminator tournament match: Hawx Aerie (Luke & PJ Hawx) defeated Colby Corino & JTG

Corino was angry that Luke Hawx and JTG shook hands at the start of the match, almost costing them it as it started. After some basic exchanges with JTG, Corino ended up in the ring with PJ Hawx and made the rookie pay for his inexperience. Hawx was eventually able to tag his father in after a belly-to-belly.

Luke Hawx made a comeback, but Corino cut him off and continued using heelish attacks before tagging out to JTG, who was not impressed with Corino.

After a relatively even exchange between JTG and Luke Hawx, both men hit punches and fell at the same time. Mutual tags were made and PJ Hawx got his hands on Corino. Hawx Aerie sent Corino to the ropes with PJ Hawx trying to send Corino into the air into a powerslam from his dad, but something went wrong. Somehow, they still hit the powerslam and picked up the win.

This was a decent match although the finish was a bit messed up. I have no idea how they still hit the powerslam considering what happened. I like Hawx Aerie advancing in the tag tournament.

— Cyon cut a promo about how he wanted the TV title and that he was going to cash in his title shot earned in the Champions Series to take on Tyrus. This was a good and simple promo.

— Tyrus, Austin Idol, BLK Jeez and Jordan Clearwater were at the podium. Idol promised that if Cyon tried to cash in his title shot on Tyrus, they were going to destroy him and take his mask. Jeez promised that pain was the only thing awaiting him. Tyrus said that he wasn’t quite sure, but he thought he knew him and it was clear Cyon knew who he was, so he was going to take his mask.

Jennacide defeated Allysin Kay

This was fine, but a bit boring. It might have been better with a little more time. The minor botches didn’t take away from it, thankfully.

Jennacide and Kay saw Jennacide dominating Kay in the early part of the match, attacking Kay’s shoulder repeatedly. Jennacide used a few armbars throughout until she hit a vertical suplex and went going right back to the shoulder and arm.

Both women exchanged strikes in the middle until Kay hit a stunner and then a clothesline for a two count. Jennacide and Kay had some miscommunication after two botched moves.

Jennacide hit a chokeslam and went to the middle rope. Kay responded by hitting a power bomb off the ropes. Lady Frost came down to the ring and distracted Kay which led to Jennacide rolling her up with a handful of tights for the win.

Taryn Terrell came out and celebrated with Jennacide after the match. It looks like they are heading towards a Tag Team title match with Kay and Marti Belle.

— La Rebelion was with May Valentine and talked about how they would take on any tag team in any company and that they were going to bring the NWA Tag Team titles to Mexico to take on all comers.

Judias (w/ James Mitchell) & James Storm went to a double DQ

Judias is no good. He is really, really bad. Storm, however, is great and The Sinister Minister is a great manager, but Judias really sucks. I would have rather seen Mil Muertes as Judas Mesias again than this dude.

Storm did some cowboy martial arts poses after a lock up, which popped the crowd, but Judias did not see the humor in it, punching Storm in the face and working him over in the corner. As both men exchanged punches in the corner, the referee threw the match out as they wouldn’t break when he asked.

Da Pope & NWA World Champion Trevor Murdoch defeated The End & Jeremiah Plunkett & Crimson in a three-way match

This was a really fast match that served to further the post-match angle than anything else. I would have liked to see them get more time as it could have been really fun.

This started with Murdoch and Plunkett immediately throwing Parrow to the outside of the ring. Murdoch hit a flying crossbody on Plunkett and got a two count. Murdoch immediately started selling his knee and tagged out to Pope who exchanged strikes with Plunkett.

Parrow pulled Pope from the ring and threw him into the guardrail before mauling Plunkett in the ring. Plunkett dodged a corner charge from Odinson who crashed into the ring post. As Plunkett turned around, Pope hit the Elijah Express on Plunkett for the pinfall.

Jax Dane came down to the ring with a referee and claimed he was going to challenge the injured Murdoch for the title at that moment. However, Crimson punched Dane in the face and prevented him from cashing in. So it appears the cashing in of title shots from the Champions Series is like WWE’s Money in the Bank which was not explained before the tournament.

Final Thoughts:

This was a decent episode of NWA Power and one that flowed nicely from one segment to the next. If you are looking for good in-ring action, this show was merely average. I think the best segment of the show was easily the opening with Aldis and Strictly Business. Fewer minutes from the opening tag and more for the main event would have also been nice.

NWA Power Surge results: Mims vs. BLK Jeez

Colby Corino defeated Marche Rockett

Not a bad opening match here with Corino looking good. I really enjoyed it as it was a simple story with the smaller man being the heel, but it actually worked really well.

Tim Storm called technical ability “technology” at the start and I laughed. Rockett was significantly bigger than Corino which played into the overall story of this match as he threw him all over the ring with ease.

Rockett’s knee was in trouble early. Corino hit a chop block and immediately went for a submission, looking to chop down the bigger man. Rockett went for a side kick, but Corino ducked under, rolled him up, and yanked the tights to get the win.

— Jax Dane was with Gary Horne for an online interview. Dane talked about the slapfight with Crimson on the last episode of Power. Dane blamed everything on Crimson regarding their issues, saying that Crimson was not there when he needed him. Even though he couldn’t blame Crimson for anything, he had to do what was best for himself and for his career.

Dane also talked about wanting to challenge Trevor Murdoch for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Dane claimed that Murdoch called him out a few weeks ago in a promo because he mentioned the “biggest and the baddest in the back” which was referring to him. He promised that he was coming for Murdoch and the title. This was really good.

— Women’s Champion Kamille was with Joe Galli and they were talking about her attack on Melina last week on Power. Kamille claimed she didn’t see Melina as a threat, but she attacked her anyway because she was trash talking and she had enough.

Skye Blue defeated Thunderkitty & Tootie Lynn

This was a quick, but quite entertaining little match. Blue and Lynn have good chemistry and I’d love to see them get a good singles match.

Thunderkitty used her 100 years of experience to keep up with Lynn and Blue. Lynn countered her in the corner and hit some kicks before Blue snuck up from behind and rolled Lynn up for a two count, but Thunderkitty broke it up.

Blue threw Thunderkitty from the ring and Lynn and Blue exchanged strike attempts before kicking each other and collapsing at the same time. Thunderkitty threw Lynn from the ring, but Blue rolled her up and scored the pinfall out of nowhere.

— Murdoch was with Horne and they talked about how Nick Aldis was willing to respect Murdoch as Aldis admitted that Murdoch was the better man right now. Murdoch then moved to talking about all the potential challengers he had including Pope. He talked about the slapfight with Crimson and Dane, saying he enjoys watching a good fight, but he ended up face-to-face with Dane. Murdoch put over all his potential challengers and that he was going to give it his all no matter who he faced. This was also great.

Mims defeated BLK Jeez

This match never really got going the way it should have as both men seemed like they couldn’t get on the same page. It was merely fine.

There was a bit of a miscommunication as Mims went for a go over and Jeez went for a dropkick. I think he legitimately ended up kicking Mims low. Mims hit a back elbow and then, there was a botched monkey flip. Mims slammed Jeez and got a two count. Mims kept control with his size, but they never seemed to get completely on the same page before Mims hit the Hookup for the pinfall.

Final Thoughts:

This was a really easy to watch show with some decent wrestling, and some really good promos from Dane and Murdoch. This was a filler episode before the return of NWA Power next week.
