Judias wins battle royal at NWA 73, earns National title shot

Judias is the next contender for the NWA National title.

All twelve participants for tonight’s battle royal at NWA 73 were in the ring when Judias came out, making his debut for the promotion. He was accompanied to the ring by James Mitchell. The finish had JTG on the apron, attacking Judias and attempting to re-enter the ring. Judias, however, cut him off with a punch off the middle rope, eliminating JTG for the win, earning a shot at Chris Adonis’ NWA National title.

Judias previously wrestled as Murphy in Impact Wrestling between 2010 and 11, teaming with Gunner, who is now Jaxson Ryker in WWE.

The other eleven participants in the match included El Rudo, Jamie Stanley, Marsche Rockett, Slice Boogie, Jeremiah Plunkett, Luke Hawx, Captain Yuma, Rush Freeman, Heartthrob Jaden, Mims, and Sal Rinauro.

Adonis also wrestled on the 73rd Anniversary Show, defeating James Storm to retain the title after he put his feet on the middle rope.

Colt Cabana to defend NWA National title at ROH TV tapings

Colt Cabana’s first defense of the NWA National Championship will take place at this month’s ROH television tapings.

Cabana vs. James Storm for the National title has been announced for ROH’s tapings in Villa Park, Illinois on Sunday, May 12. The show is the final night of ROH’s War of the Worlds tour.

At the NWA & ROH’s Crockett Cup event this past weekend, Cabana defeated Willie Mack to win the National title. James Storm came out to the ring after the match, cutting a promo on NWA management and how they don’t want him to be World Champion. Storm complimented Cabana but said he’s come up with a plan where management can’t silence him — and that’s winning the National title.

The War of the Worlds tour also has stops in Buffalo, New York on May 8, Toronto, Ontario, Canada on May 9, and Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 11.

Jay Lethal vs. Jeff Cobb vs. Rush vs. PCO will headline the TV tapings in Villa Park. Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa defending the ROH Tag Team titles against The Briscoes, Hirooki Goto vs. Hikuleo, EVIL & SANADA vs. Satoshi Kojima & Yuji Nagata, and PJ Black vs. Karl Fredericks have also been announced for the tapings.

New NWA National Champion crowned at 70th Anniversary Show

Willie Mack is the first NWA National champion under the Billy Corgan banner.

Mack defeated Samuel Shaw to win the title during tonight’s NWA 70th anniversary show in Nashville, Tennessee. The finish came after Mack hit Shaw with the stunner. Shaw kicked out and went for a superkick, but Mack dodged and hit a second stunner to secure the win.

Before the finals, Shaw defeated Sammy Guevara, Scorpio Sky and Colt Cabana to advance. Mack defeated Jay Bradley, Ricky Starks and Mike Parrow. After Mack won his match, he and Shaw had a staredown. Bradley jumped Mack after the match which put him at a disadvantage going into the finals.

The National championship dates back to 1980, when Austin Idol became the first champion. After Georgia Championship Wrestling was absorbed into the WWE in 1984, the championship was then defended in Championship Wrestling from Georgia until 1986 when it was unified with the United States title under Jim Crockett Promotions.

The title was reactivated in 1997, but was declared vacant last year when the NWA terminated contracts with all of their licensees.
