MLW Fightland one-hour special to air on Vice TV

New MLW content will finally be coming to Vice TV as the network will air a one-hour Fightland special, headlined by a title vs. title match between World Champion Jacob Fatu and National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone.

The news was first reported by The Wrap.

Taped the prior Saturday in Philadelphia, the special will air on Thursday, October 7th at 10 PM Eastern following that night’s premiere episode of Dark Side of the Ring focusing on Johnny K9, a pro wrestler and the leader of a biker gang.

The special will also feature the four-way Middleweight title match between champion Myron Reed, Aramis, Arez and the debuting Tajiri.

In a quote in the story, MLW founder Court Bauer seemed to indicate the show’s format will be different than traditional pro wrestling, saying the show “offers viewers a transparent, unfiltered all access look into the smoke-filled arenas of wrestling. We will present big fights and big stories with investigative reports giving viewers a raw, inside look at the very real world of wrestling.”

MLW and Vice TV announced a deal in April, but this will mark the first new content as part of the agreement. MLW’s new Fusion: Alpha show debuts next week on YouTube and BeIn Sports.

Four-way Middleweight title match set for MLW Fightland

An MLW Middleweight Championship match has been added to the Fightland show on October 2nd in Philadelphia, PA.

Reed is in the midst of his second Middleweight title reign after regaining it from Lio Rush at the end of last season. He has yet to defend the title in this latest run as MLW is in between seasons. In his first reign, Reed held the title for 424 days and defended it six times before dropping it to Lio Rush at the Kings Of Colosseum show earlier this year.

Arez and Aramis are relatively new additions to MLW, having debuted at their July TV taping, also in Philadelphia.

Fightland will also see World Champion Jacob Fatu vs. National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone in a title vs. title match in addition to the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Opera Cup tournament.
