MLW women’s division launching next month

MLW has announced when their women’s division will be launching.

The division will begin at MLW’s Blood & Thunder television tapings in Orlando, Florida on the afternoon of Saturday, November 9. Zeda Zhang will be in the division’s first match, though her opponent hasn’t been announced.

MLW unveiled Zhang as the first member of their women’s division earlier this month. She’s signed a “multi-year exclusive contract” with the promotion.

Zhang took part in the first Mae Young Classic and wrestled for NXT prior to being released by WWE in 2018. She previously appeared for MLW after her release from WWE.

MLW initially featured women’s matches when it relaunched starting in 2017.

The Blood & Thunder tapings are taking place at GILT Nightclub in Orlando. Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs. Tom Lawlor, Low Ki vs. Timothy Thatcher, and a mystery box battle royal have also been announced for the tapings.

The tapings are being held one week after MLW’s first pay-per-view. Cicero Stadium in Cicero, Illinois is hosting Saturday Night SuperFight on November 2.

A second match has been confirmed for MLW’s Blood & Thunder television tapings.

MLW announced today that Low Ki vs. Timothy Thatcher is set for the tapings. They’re taking place at GILT Nightclub in Orlando, Florida on the afternoon of Saturday, November 9.

MLW is hyping that this will be the first time Low Ki and Thatcher have faced each other in a singles match.

Thatcher made his MLW debut this July. Low Ki is a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion, having held the title from July 2018 to February 2019.

The Blood & Thunder tapings are being held a week after MLW’s Saturday Night SuperFight pay-per-view. The PPV is taking place at Cicero Stadium in Cicero, Illinois on November 2. Thatcher defeating Douglas James aired on last weekend’s episode of MLW Fusion. After the match, Thatcher was interviewed and issued a challenge to Tom Lawlor for Saturday Night SuperFight.

Lawlor vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr. was the first match to be announced for the Blood & Thunder tapings.

MLW has made their first match announcement for November’s Blood & Thunder television tapings.

It was announced today that Tom Lawlor vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr. will take place at the Blood & Thunder tapings. They’re being held at GILT Nightclub in Orlando, Florida on the afternoon of Saturday, November 9.

Lawlor and Smith Jr. also faced each other at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport II earlier this month. Smith Jr. defeated Lawlor in that match.

The Hart Foundation’s Teddy Hart & Brian Pillman Jr. also lost the Tag Team titles to The Dynasty (MJF & Richard Holliday) that night.

The Blood & Thunder tapings are taking place a week after MLW’s first-ever pay-per-view. Cicero Stadium in Cicero, Illinois will host Saturday Night SuperFight on November 2, with Fatu defending his World Heavyweight title against LA Park in a no DQ match in the main event.

MLW returning to Orlando for Blood & Thunder TV tapings

MLW is returning to Orlando this November.

It was announced today that MLW will be holding a set of television tapings called Blood & Thunder at GILT Nightclub in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, November 9. GILT Nightclub was the home venue for MLW when the promotion relaunched in 2017.

“We’ve been trying to make this happen for more than a year,” MLW CEO Court Bauer told the Orlando Sentinel. “So much of our DNA is anchored in Orlando. The fanbase is incredible, and the longer we were away, the more I thought, ‘We’ve gotta get back.’ So I have a lot of good feelings about returning.”

November 9 is the same day as AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view, which is taking place in Baltimore, Maryland. The MLW tapings will be in the afternoon, with them starting at 4 p.m. Eastern time.

The Blood & Thunder tapings come a week after MLW’s first-ever PPV. Cicero Stadium in Cicero, Illinois is hosting the Saturday Night SuperFight  PPV on November 2.

Tickets for Blood & Thunder will go on sale next Monday (September 16) at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
