Who needs to get a win at WWE WrestleMania 42? | Opinion

It is finally WrestleMania week as WWE takes over Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

While nearly every WrestleMania 42 match carries some kind of significance, some outcomes will have a far greater impact than others. Here’s who I think needs a win the most on this year’s back-to-back cards.

Liv Morgan over Stephanie Vaquer for the WWE Women’s World Championship

Morgan’s rivalry with Vaquer has evolved into one of the most personal feuds on the card.

Morgan’s women’s Royal Rumble victory was widely viewed as overdue recognition for her contributions to the women’s division. Her eventual decision to challenge Vaquer, after being questioned about her work ethic, added a layer to the storyline.

Vaquer moved up to the main roster and won the title at Evolution last year. She initially drew fans’ support, but the limited title defenses and lack of engaging storylines became stale.

A WrestleMania victory would not only validate Morgan’s resurgence but also solidify her third reign as Women’s World Champion.

Randy Orton achieves his goal of a 15th World title

For Randy Orton, the mission is simple: win world title No. 15.

After falling short against John Cena last year, he now finds himself across the ring from Cody Rhodes—his former protege and friend. Their shared history has added depth to the build, particularly following Orton’s brutal contract signing attack.

Rhodes’ reign has been successful, but a bit formulaic. Orton winning here would not only achieve that goal, but would freshen up the main event scene and hopefully Rhodes afterward.

Oba Femi destroys Brock Lesnar

Femi vacated his NXT Championship in December 2025, and made his main roster debut at the Royal Rumble. He demonstrated dominance over the next few weeks on Raw and SmackDown and then responded to Brock Lesnar’s open challenge for WrestleMania 42.

Getting a win over someone of Lesnar’s stature at a platform like WrestleMania 42 in a dominant fashion would really accelerate Femi’s WWE career and help him become part of wrestling history.

‘The Demon’ teaches Dominik Mysterio a lesson

From a familial bond to becoming enemies in the ring, the tension between Finn Balor and Mysterio had been brewing for a long while now with Mysterio’s constant critic of Balor’s inability to win the World Title as a big part of it.

The return of his iconic entrance theme and presentation associated with the Demon moniker has elevated the hype. The last time the character made an appearance was at WrestleMania 39 for his Hell in a Cell match against Edge and a lot has happened to both men since then.

During his time in the Judgment Day, it felt as though his run was being muffled. A win at WrestleMania 42 will hopefully revert him back to the destined push/opportunities he missed out in recent years.

Seth Rollins ends Gunther’s streak as the ‘career killer’

The unexpected buildup for Gunther and Seth Rollins for WrestleMania may have felt a bit rushed storyline-wise, but both stars are prominent enough to warrant a spot on the WrestleMania card. The two have a brief history when they collided in the semifinals for the World Heavyweight Championship in 2023.

A victory for Rollins at Mania, especially with odds stacked against him and Gunther’s possible alliance with Heyman, would make for a compelling outcome.

Rhea Ripley dominates the championship picture again in 2026

Since winning the the WWE Women’s title in November 2025, Cargill has defended it just once, that being in February. This led to concern from some fans regarding her in-ring capabilities and future as champion.

Going into their feud at WrestleMania, Ripley has earned the fans’ sympathy and support, especially with Cargill’s new alliance with B-Fab and Michin. Although she has IYO SKY in her corner, it might not be enough for Ripley to counter the numbers advantage for ‘Mania.

But Ripley winning the title and officially moving to the SmackDown brand would re-establish her dominance, and shift her back into the singles spotlight. It would also prove beneficial for Sky’s future as a singles competitor after their tag team run.

Jacob Fatu sustains momentum

Fatu witnessed a rapid ascent since walking away from Solo Sikoa’s side of the Bloodline fence and on his own.

In January, he interrupted Drew McIntyre’s WWE Title match with Cody Rhodes which cost him the championship. McIntyre vowed revenge ever since and the two have continued their feud which only escalated in March, hence the unsanctioned match this weekend.

Fatu is being cemented as a top tier star in WWE. A marquee win over someone credible as McIntyre would benefit his career while a loss would weaken the dominant presentation WWE has been building up for Fatu.

On the other hand, for McIntyre, a talent who has competed in consistent main events in his career, a potential loss would serve as a catalyst for a character evolution. It could also push for a more unhinged and unpredictable direction.

WWE premieres Liv Morgan’s music video ahead of WrestleMania 42

WWE officially announced the world premiere of Liv Morgan’s ‘Trouble’ music video.

In line with the theme, Morgan, wearing a ‘I heart trouble’ t-shirt, proceeds to set a vehicle on fire, gets a tattoo, dances in a parking lot while singing. This syncs with her WWE persona of stirring up trouble as part of The Judgment Day and association with Dominik Mysterio.

On the March 6 edition of Raw, a sneak peek of the video was aired for a few seconds without any indication or context.

This is not the first non-WWE venture for Morgan this year. Her upcoming film ‘Bad Lieutenant’ is set to release in September. The thriller movie was filmed for most of last year in Japan.

On the WWE front, Morgan will face Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship at Night One of WrestleMania 42.

Liv Morgan says Dominik Mysterio relationship has ‘resurged couples in WWE’

Liv Morgan believes she and Dominik Mysterio helped bring couples back into focus in WWE.

Morgan told Chris Van Vliet on his Insight Podcast that her pairing with Mysterio is the resurgence of WWE couples. She even compared themselves to being more iconic than ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage & Miss Elizabeth among other legendary relationships.

“I think, ultimately, we just understand the assignment. I feel like the fans love to hate us, or they hate to love us. It’s such an intriguing, complex, messy, wholesome, love story that we haven’t seen for a while, and I feel like the audience really loves that. And I think, honestly, we’re just iconic. I know I say that word a lot, but we’re just iconic together. I think we are the greatest couple in the history of WWE. I don’t mean that I’m not just saying that. I mean that wholeheartedly. We’re better than Becky and Seth, we’re better than AJ and CM Punk. We’re better than Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth. I stand on that. I feel like we’ve resurged couples in WWE. What couples were couples before Dominik and I? Now you have tons of people coupling up, trying to do what we do, but they just can’t.”

Morgan also explained the moment she and Mysterio kissed on-screen for the first time at SummerSlam 2024 after she defeated Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship. She slightly heard the Cleveland Browns Stadium erupt at the moment but realized the impact when rewatching the tape. Morgan remarked Stephanie McMahon’s daughters who were in attendance ringside were aghast at what had happened.

“Yes, I did, but also watching it back, hit a different level cause I was so in it. But also I could hear, but also it was an open stadium so the noise leaves as well. So you kinda don’t realize how much of a ruckus it is until you kinda get to watch it back. So, I watched it back and was just like ‘holy sh*t, holy sh*t it was so cool’. It was so funny and I even saw Stephanie McMahon’s kids just shocked, just like ‘what the hell?’. It was super funny just seeing everyone’s reactions and their shock or their hatred for it.”

In 2024, Morgan’s sole quest was to get revenge on Ripley for inflicting a shoulder injury that forced her to be out for nearly eight months. Upon her return she plotted the Revenge Tour to strip Ripley of everyone and everything she had, leaving her with nothing. In the process, Morgan pursued Mysterio until he gave in at SummerSlam 2024. They’ve constantly supported each other to win matches in WWE.

Liv Morgan makes public appearance after WWE Raw injury

Liv Morgan looks to be recovering well from the injury she suffered on WWE Raw this week.

On Monday’s Raw, there was a scary moment where Morgan and Roxanne Perez’s heads accidentally smashed into each other after Morgan was blindsided by Stephanie Vaquer. It was reported after the show that both Morgan and Perez were being evaluated for possible concussions, raising concern over whether Morgan would be able to make her scheduled match against Vaquer at WrestleMania 42.

There’s been no official update on Morgan’s status, but she was able to attend an NBA game on Wednesday night. She and Raquel Rodriguez were shown in the crowd during ESPN’s coverage of the San Antonio Spurs vs. Portland Trailblazers.

The injury left Morgan with a giant bump on her forehead and bruising on her forehead and nose. While the swelling on the bump has gone down considerably, it was still noticeable during her appearance at the basketball game.

As for Perez’s status, she posted on Instagram that she was “alive and well” after colliding heads with Morgan.

Morgan, who won the 2026 women’s Royal Rumble match, is scheduled to challenge Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 42. It’s part of the card for night one of the event on Saturday, April 18.

Roxanne Perez provides update after WWE Raw injury

Roxanne Perez has shared an update on her condition after the incident on WWE Raw.

She took to Instagram Stories and posted a photo of herself with an ice pack on her head, captioned ‘alive & well yall’.

The injury occurred during Stephanie Vaquer’s ambush on Liv Morgan on Raw. The two Judgment Day members were discussing the group’s dissociation with Finn Balor and Perez’s WWE return the previous week when it happened. Vaquer suddenly shoved Morgan from the back causing her collide head-to-head with Perez. Her ambush concluded by smashing Morgan’s head into a TV.

Following Raw, Morgan shared the head bump on social media which resulted from the attack. Vaquer responded with an image of a doll’s head being crushed. Morgan instantly retaliated with ‘Hahahha u wish. Ur gonna have to kill me’ before adding an updated image of her head injury showing the swelling had gone done but leaving behind a bruise.

Perez has been out of in-ring action since the Royal Rumble after undergoing surgery to remove a benign growth from her back. She returned to Raw last week and assisted Morgan in her physical altercation on Vaquer.

Perez was added to The Judgment Day in May 2025 by Finn Balor. She was introduced as an ally before eventually proving her worth to the group. And even stepping in as Morgan’s replacement during her shoulder injury while she and Raquel Rodriguez were the Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Morgan will face Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship on Night One at WrestleMania 42.

Liv Morgan shows off nasty head bump following WWE Raw attack

Liv Morgan showed off the nasty bump on her head in the aftermath of Stephanie Vaquer’s attack on WWE Raw.

Morgan shared images of her head injury on Instagram alongside her Judgment Day teammates – Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh and Raquel Rodriguez.

During Raw, Morgan was backstage with Roxanne Perez discussing Finn Balor’s exit and relationship with The Judgment Day. She noted how he was responsible for bringing her into the group, and appreciated her helping hand in attacking Vaquer last week. Before Perez could respond, Vaquer launched into Morgan from behind that sent her crashing into Perez as they bumped heads. She continued the attack and sent Morgan flying head-first into the TV nearby.

Following the events on Raw, Morgan and Perez were reportedly in concussion protocol

On the March 30 edition of Raw, Perez made her return after a couple of months away due to a surgery to remove a benign mass from her back. That night Morgan made personal remarks targeting Vaquer’s mother, prompting the champion to rush out and attack her. Perez then joined Morgan in the beatdown.

Ever since Morgan decided to pursue the Women’s World Championship, an intense back-and-forth erupted. The rivalry has seen repeated ambushes and personal attacks on almost every edition of Raw that followed. Morgan continues to question Vaquer’s credibility as a wrestler claiming she has yet to match her accomplishments in WWE.

Liv Morgan & Roxanne Perez in concussion protocol following WWE Raw angle

Both Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez could be hurt following Raw.

During Raw, Morgan’s WrestleMania opponent Stephanie Vaquer walked in and attacked her, pushing Morgan into Perez. The two clonked heads as they fell to the floor, with Morgan being grabbed and thrown into a nearby TV set. Bryan Alvarez is now reporting that both are being evaluated for a possible concussion.

“Both Liv and Roxanne in concussion protocol after they clonked skulls HARD when Stephanie jumped Liv from behind. Hopefully we didn’t just witness a disaster affecting WrestleMania,” Alvarez wrote.

Morgan and Perez were talking about Perez’s return last week from injury. Morgan brought up that it was now former stablemate Finn Balor that brought her in. Before anything else could be said, Vaquer came in for the attack.

Perez had been out of action recently after having a benign growth removed and only returned on last week’s show, helping Morgan attack Vaquer, leading to Monday’s angle.

A possible injury to Morgan would put her match with Vaquer, the Women’s World Champion, in danger. Morgan won this year’s Royal Rumble and picked Vaquer, attacking her in the process.

Roxanne Perez returns on WWE Monday Night Raw

For the first time since the Royal Rumble, Roxanne Perez made her presence known on WWE television. She returned on Monday Night Raw to help Liv Morgan battle Stephanie Vaquer.

Morgan, who won that Rumble match, was in the ring cutting a promo against her WrestleMania opponent Vaquer. She was insulted and threatened the Women’s World Champion, degrading her family in her own native tongue. Vaquer came out to assault Morgan and had the upper hand, but Perez came through the crowd to attack her from behind. Together Morgan and Perez laid Vaquer out, and Morgan finished her with an oblivion onto a steel chair.

Perez revealed in February that she had undergone surgery to remove a benign mass from her back.

“I recently underwent surgery to remove a benign mass that was in my back, that was causing me a lot of pain for a couple of months,” she said at the time.

On Raw, the announcers simply said Perez had been out with injuries, with no further explanation.

Paul Heyman weighs in on a potential ‘Paul Heyman Girl’ in WWE

Paul Heyman is all praise for the women’s division and is honored to have collaborated with Jordynne Grace in WWE 2K26.

There is a storyline in the video game where Heyman manages Grace. Chris Scullion asked Heyman in his VGC interview whether the partnership with Grace in the video game was inspired by real-life decisions and whether she was a candidate considered to be the first ‘Paul Heyman Girl’.

He claimed to be a fan of Grace’s performances but pinpointing one name from the current women’s roster would be a difficult task given the level of talent across the division.

“I’m a big fan of Jordynne Grace, to say that there is a female in the locker room today that should be the first Paul Heyman Girl under the management and tutelage of Paul Heyman, would be a slight to the other women in this locker room.”

“There has never been a time in the history of WWE, professional wrestling, sports entertainment, or mixed martial arts that there has been such a ridiculously talented roster of females under one roof at the same time. I could sit here and run down all or actually I won’t even say ‘run down’ cause that’s a negative. Run up all the names that are on this roster. Start with Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill. You can go to Bianca Belair and AJ Lee. You can go to Nattie and Maxxine Dupri. You can go to Lash Legend and Nia  Jax. You can go to the Bella Twins. You can go to Liv Morgan. You can go to Raquel. You can go to, I mean my God! I can sit here for the next 20 minutes and rattle off these names. This is the most hyper talented group of women in history all under one roof.”

Heyman was a fan of WWE choosing Grace for the game collaboration. He added that it would be an honor to work with any of the wrestlers from the women’s division in the video game. He labelled them to be incomparable to any other sport or entertainment form.

“Jordynne Grace was the choice of 2K(26). A splendid choice. What a magnificent athlete and performer I’m honored that I have a chance to work with her within WWE 2K26. And there are many other women, too many to mention, even though I mentioned a few before, but too many to mention that I would be honored to work with within this video game. Because just like in real life, the women’s roster right now in WWE is incomparable to any other roster in any other sport or form of entertainment in history.”

Many of Paul Heyman’s managed talents have ultimately gone on to reach the top of the WWE pyramid, let alone in the industry.

Grace established herself on TNA before making her surprise Royal Rumble debut in 2024 as entrant #5. A  year later she officially signed with WWE and competed on NXT until January 2026 when she was moved to SmackDown.

Two WWE stars reportedly coming to Fortnite

WWE stars Liv Morgan and Stone Cold Steve Austin are reportedly joining Fortnite as per a recent report by HYPEX.

WWE’s video game season just got more exciting. Steve Austin, a celebrated WWE Hall of Famer, will join Morgan, one of the top current WWE Superstars. They join the previous lineup of Fortnite x WWE characters, including Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, and The Undertaker.

Apart from these top names, WWE legend The Rock is also a part of Fortnite, where he appears in the game lore as The Foundation. His character is also set to return to the game.

While Fortnite gears up for its WWE collaboration, it is also expected to see a Game of Thrones crossover in the near future. 2026 also saw Fortnite collaborate with The Office, Ed Edd n’ Edd, and Looney Tunes.

Liv Morgan discusses ‘Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo,’ film release timeline

Liv Morgan opened up about her mindset heading into WrestleMania 42 and details on her upcoming film Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, including the release timeline.

Speaking on Director’s Cut Radio, Morgan explained how WrestleMania marks the beginning of the wrestling year for her. With Backlash taking place in her hometown of Tampa in May, she feels confident she’ll return as a “hometown hero” and the new Women’s World Champion.

Morgan said:

“Yeah, so WrestleMania to me kind of signifies like the start of the wrestling year. You know, we work all year to lead into WrestleMania to tell these stories and have these matches at WrestleMania, and once it’s done, it kind of feels like a reset. So, Backlash being the first PLE in the wrestling year as far as I’m concerned in Tampa, where I’m currently from. So, I kind of feel like the hometown hero walking in a brand new champion.”

Morgan reflected on her time working on the film and confirmed that it’s scheduled for release in September this year.

“I have something on the way. Bad Lieutenant I filmed in Japan last year. It, it’s going to hit theaters in September. I was very excited about the project,” said Morgan. “I learned a lot, and I feel better after the fact. Having the experience, I was lucky to be in the room with all of these incredibly talented veterans of the film industry. And the WB audience is going to see me in a way that I think perhaps they never thought they’d see me. So I would tune in.”

In the thriller film directed by Takashi Miike, Morgan plays the missing daughter of a politician, whose disappearance is central to the story. The movie follows a troubled Tokyo police officer who becomes entangled in a dangerous investigation after an FBI agent’s arrival in Japan searching for the politician’s missing daughter.

On the WWE front, Morgan, who won the Royal Rumble, challenges Stephanie Vaquer for the WWE Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 42.

Liv Morgan segment added to WWE Raw

Liv Morgan is set to appear on WWE Raw tonight as the build to WrestleMania 42 picks up.

The Elimination Chamber fallout edition of Raw is being held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis tonight. WWE has announced that Morgan will appear on the show for a promo segment. She’ll address Stephanie Vaquer after it was confirmed last week that Morgan is challenging Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania.

“Women’s Royal Rumble Winner Liv Morgan will take the mic after making the decision to challenge Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer at WrestleMania,” WWE.com wrote. “Don’t miss all the action of Raw, tonight at 8 ET/5 PT on Netflix.”

Last week’s Raw saw Morgan meet with Vaquer and WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill as she revealed her WrestleMania decision. The segment ended with Morgan beating Vaquer down and laying her out with Oblivion.

Here is the updated lineup for tonight:

WWE Raw (Monday, March 2) —

  • Roman Reigns returns
  • World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk appears
  • New Women’s Intercontinental Champion AJ Lee appears
  • Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio defends against Penta
  • Gunther vs. Dragon Lee
  • We’ll hear from Liv Morgan
  • Raw General Manager Adam Pearce will address Seth Rollins’ return

Liv Morgan says she’s earned ‘creative liberties’ in WWE

Liv Morgan doesn’t get to dictate the direction of her WWE character, but she’s earned the right to have some say in her creative plans.

While appearing on Bradley Martyn’s Raw Talk, Morgan addressed whether she has any say in what happens on-screen in WWE. Morgan said she has some “creative liberties,” though that’s not standard for everyone. You have to earn the right to have input.

“Am I actively writing the show? No. But do I have creative liberties? Yeah,” she said. “But that’s like something you earn. You don’t just get creative liberties. Like, you have to earn to be able to be trusted to have creative liberties.”

Morgan was asked when she earned the right to have this input.

“Probably like 2024, I feel like,” she said. “Yeah [that feels good], it does. Because that means they know that I know my sh*t, and I take pride in them knowing that I know my sh*t.”

Morgan won the 2026 women’s Royal Rumble match and is now set for a WrestleMania 42 title bout against Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer. It’s a huge moment for Morgan, and she’ll be emotional if she wins. But performing at WrestleMania doesn’t carry more pressure for Morgan

“I don’t feel more pressure on certain shows. To me, WrestleMania is the same to me as like Monday Night Raw. Like, I don’t feel more pressure at WrestleMania,” Morgan said. “I couldn’t imagine having more nerves than how I feel like on a Monday Night Raw, you know what I mean? So like more nervous at WrestleMania is not a thing. I’m already maxed out on nerves. So it’s like the same nerves for both shows.”
