Nyla Rose vs. Kris Statlander announced for AEW Revolution

Another match has been added to Revolution this Sunday.

AEW confirmed tonight that Kris Statlander will challenge Nyla Rose for the AEW Women’s championship. This comes following the events of last week’s Dynamite, when Statlander confronted Rose, who defeated Riho two weeks ago to win the championship. As the two had a staredown, Big Swole appeared and the three eventually had to be seperated.

Statlander had previously challenged for the AEW Women’s championship back on the January 8 edition of Dynamite. She was defeated by then-champion Riho after interference from Brandi Rhodes and the rest of the Nightmare Collective.

On the Road to Kansas City video that premiered on AEW’s social media today, a match between Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara was announced for Revolution. The show will be headlined by Jon Moxley facing Chris Jericho for the AEW World championship.

Revolution will take place this Saturday, February 29 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

Four matches announced for next week’s AEW Dynamite

Four matches have been set for next week’s AEW Dynamite.

It was confirmed on tonight’s episode of Dynamite that Kris Statlander will still get her AEW Women’s title match that was originally set for tonight next week. AEW allowed Statlander to honor a booking for Bar Wrestling that was accepted prior to her signing with the company, hence why tonight’s Women’s title match was changed to a four-way.

Christopher Daniels will also be in action, taking on Sammy Guevara. SCU were doing a backstage promo when Guevara came up to them and singled out Daniels. In response, Daniels issued a challenge to Guevara, who accepted.

A tag team match featuring Kenny Omega & Hangman Page against Private Party was also made after Page confronted Private Party backstage. Hangman, who joined the commentary team for the main event, was surprised to learn that he would be teaming with Omega when the match was officially announced.

Another tag team match will have Cody and Dustin Rhodes taking on the Lucha Bros.

Next week’s episode of Dynamite will take place at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi.

AEW announces new Women’s title match for January 1st Dynamite

AEW announced a change to their Women’s title match for the New Year’s Day edition of Dynamite.

Instead of Riho defending her title against top contender Kris Statlander on January 1st, she will now defend in a four-way against Nyla Rose, Britt Baker, and Hikaru Shida. The reason given was that Statlander had “prior commitments”.

AEW also announced that Statlander will face the winner of the four-way in a title match the following Wednesday on the anniversary edition of Dynamite in Southaven, MS. Statlander earned the title shot with a win over Baker on the December 18th edition of Dynamite.

Dave Meltzer is reporting the commitment is for Joey Ryan’s Bar Wrestling and that they weren’t aware of the booking. Rather than pull her from that date, they made the change.

Riho hasn’t wrestled for AEW since November 13th when she teamed with Baker to defeat Big Swole and Statlander for an AEW Dark match, and hasn’t defended the title since a win over Emi Sakura at the Full Gear pay-per-view.

The New Year’s Day Dynamite from Jacksonville, FL, will feature Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks vs. the Lucha Bros and PAC, Cody Rhodes vs. Darby Allin, MJF announcing stipulations for a match with Cody, and Jon Moxley giving his answer to Chris Jericho about joining the Inner Circle.

AEW Women’s title match set for New Year’s Day Dynamite

The next AEW Women’s championship match has been set for January 1.

Kris Statlander defeated Britt Baker tonight on Dynamite to become the official number one contender for the AEW Women’s championship. Statlander won the match after reversing a submission attempt by Baker, lifting her to her shoulders and planting Baker with a package tombstone piledriver.

After the match, Brandi Rhodes came out and asked Statlander if she would join the Nightmare Collective. Statlander rejected the offer. The rest of the Nightmare Collective came out, distracting Statlander long enough for Brandi strike her in the eye with the heel of Brandi’s shoe.

MJF will also be on Dynamite on January 1 to announce the stipulations of his upcoming match against Cody Rhodes.

The next episode of Dynamite will take place on January 1 at Daly’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

AEW officially confirms signings of Kris Statlander and Big Swole

AEW has officially confirmed that two members of their women’s division have signed with the company.

AEW posted tweets today announcing the signings of Kris Statlander and Big Swole. Statlander debuted for the promotion by teaming with Swole on an episode of AEW Dark last month, while Swole’s first match for AEW was the Casino Battle Royale at All Out.

Statlander has wrestled on Dynamite twice and defeated Hikaru Shida in a singles match on last Wednesday’s show. Statlander has a 1-0 singles record (1-2 overall) and is ranked fifth in the latest women’s division top-five rankings. Shida is still currently ranked as the top challenger to AEW Women’s Champion Riho.

Swole has wrestled on Dark four times, losing two tag matches and two singles matches.

Swole is making her Dynamite debut against Emi Sakura on this Wednesday’s show. It’s taking place at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas and will also feature The Young Bucks vs. Santana & Ortiz in a Texas street fight and Cody Rhodes & QT Marshall vs. The Butcher & The Blade.

Hikaru Shida vs. Kris Statlander announced for AEW Dynamite

This week’s episode of Dynamite is now up to five announced matches.

Hikaru Shida vs. Kris Statlander is the latest addition to the lineup for the show. It’s taking place at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois and will also feature The Young Bucks & Dustin Rhodes vs. Santana, Ortiz & Sammy Guevara, Jon Moxley vs. Joey Janela, Pentagon Jr. vs. Christopher Daniels, and Fenix vs. Trent Barreta.

After defeating Britt Baker two weeks ago, Shida is currently ranked as the top challenger to AEW Women’s Champion Riho. Shida has a 3-1 singles record and a 4-2 record overall.

One of Shida’s losses was while teaming with Statlander on Dynamite last week. Emi Sakura & Bea Priestley defeated Shida & Statlander, with Sakura hitting Statlander with a mic stand and Priestley giving her a back suplex before Sakura got the pin.

Statlander made her AEW debut by teaming with Big Swole against Riho & Baker on AEW Dark last month.
