Following their respective matches at Clash of Champions, The New Day and Randy Orton & The Revival will face off in a six-man tag match on SmackDown.
WWE has announced The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods) vs. Orton & The Revival (Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder) for tonight’s episode. It’s taking place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Kingston retained his WWE Championship against Orton at Clash of Champions, while The Revival defeated Big E & Woods to win the SmackDown Tag Team titles.
The last time the teams faced off in a six-man tag match on television, Orton & The Revival defeated The New Day on the August 13 episode of SmackDown.
After he won the King of the Ring tournament on last night’s Raw, there will be a coronation segment for Baron Corbin on SmackDown tonight. Corbin defeated Chad Gable in the King of the Ring finals.
A sit-down interview with Erick Rowan is also set for tonight’s SmackDown, and Shane McMahon will address last week’s “firing” of Kevin Owens.
Rowan defeated Roman Reigns in a no DQ match at Clash of Champions, with Luke Harper making his return and helping Rowan win.
Ahead of tonight’s SmackDown, the WWE Championship match has been confirmed for Clash of Champions.
WWE Champion Kofi Kingston will defend his title against Randy Orton at the pay-per-view. That’s been the direction since Kingston vs. Orton at SummerSlam ended in a double countout.
Orton has been aligned with The Revival during his storyline against Kingston and the rest of The New Day. Big E & Xavier Woods are the SmackDown Tag Team Champions. The Revival challenged them to a title match at Clash of Champions on SmackDown last week, though the official announcement of that match hasn’t been made yet.
Clash of Champions is taking place at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 15. The updated card for the PPV is listed below:

The heels controlled most of the match and beat up Asuka. After getting a hot tag, Sane hit her elbow drop to get the win.
– Roman Reigns defeated Samoa Joe in a street fight
They got one of the biggest reactions of the night — mostly Reigns. This was a hard-hitting match. Joe used a kendo stick, a chair, and hit a uranage on a table for a near fall.
Reigns hit a spear on Joe through another table to get the pin.
– Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Ali to retain his title
Very good match. There were a lot of acrobatics from Ali, but Nakamura retained with the Kinshasa.
– Rey Mysterio entered to a monstrous ovation. He cut a promo in Spanish talking about Eddie Guerrero and the Latin fans. He also mentioned his son Dominick and the segment where Dominick talked him out of retiring on Raw.
– Randy Orton defeated Rey Mysterio
Orton won by hitting an RKO in mid-air when Mysterio jumped from the top rope. The crowd went crazy.
Orton attacked Mysterio after the match, but Mysterio hit the 619 and celebrated with the crowd.
– WWE Champion Kofi Kingston (w/ Big E) defeated Daniel Bryan (w/ Rowan) to retain his title
This was a very good main event. Big E was over and very funny. The fans loved him.
Rowan and Big E both got involved and were sent to the back. Bryan put Kingston in the LeBell Lock, but Kingston reached the ropes. Out of nowhere, Kingston hit Trouble in Paradise and pinned Bryan to retain.

Owens won with a stunner.

– Asuka & Ember Moon defeated Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville and The IIconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay) in a triple threat tag match
– R-Truth defeated Drake Maverick
– Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defeated Lacey Evans
The match finally took place after the no contest earlier in the evening. Lynch won by submission with the Dis-Arm-Her.
– Roman Reigns defeated Drew McIntyre in a Houston street fight
Reigns speared McIntyre through a table in the corner for the win.
– After intermission, Elias did a performance. Several lower card wrestlers chased Elias out of the ring in hopes of winning the 24/7 title from him
– Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Ali to retain his title
Nakamura retained with the Kinshasa.
– Aleister Black defeated Sami Zayn and Andrade in a triple threat match
Black pinned Zayn after a kick to the head.
After the match, Zayn whined to the crowd about how he wasn’t ready. Zayn then issued an open challenge, with Braun Strowman coming out to the ring to answer it. Strowman then leveled Zayn after he tried to talk his way out of the match.

New Day hit Midnight Hour to get the win.

Bayley retained with the Bayley-to-Belly.

Kingston picked up the win with Trouble in Paradise.
This was a fun show overall with great crowd noise. The match of the night was probably either the women’s tag team match or the Reigns vs. McIntyre street fight.
Kingston vs. Orton was just as slow and plodding as it was during SummerSlam, with Orton really slowing the match down with chinlocks at the beginning. The crowd was about 70/30 split in Kingston’s favor.
Lynch, Reigns, and Bayley got the biggest pops. Bayley was surprisingly more over than I thought she would be. Reigns only got a few boos here and there.
WWE is hyping that Kevin Owens has invited Shane McMahon to appear on the KO Show tonight. Kofi Kingston will also respond to Randy Orton in an “exclusive interview.”
Owens vs. Shane is set for SummerSlam. The match has a stipulation where Owens will quit WWE if he loses.
Shane didn’t make an in-person appearance on SmackDown last week, with the storyline explanation being that Shane’s life coach told him that he needed to get centered and get his emotions in check after being attacked by Owens.
Owens defeated Drew McIntyre last Tuesday.
Kingston will defend his WWE Championship against Orton at Sunday’s pay-per-view. Last week, a video package aired where Orton discussed their history against each other and called Kingston stupid for challenging him to a match at SummerSlam.
Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. WWE has announced that Roman Reigns will appear on the show. Reigns’ mystery attacker angle continued last night, with someone trying to run Reigns down with their car while he was in the parking lot.
An episode of Chronicle focused on Seth Rollins will air on the WWE Network after NXT TakeOver: Toronto this Saturday (August 10). It comes in advance of Rollins challenging for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship at SummerSlam.
After SummerSlam on Sunday, a new episode of WWE 24 will premiere. It will feature Kofi Kingston and his visit to Ghana for the Year of Return. A WWE film crew accompanied Kingston to document his first time in Ghana in 26 years.

Tonight, new episodes of WWE Day Of and Table for Three will premiere on the WWE Network after Raw. The Day Of episode will focus on Raw Reunion, while Rollins, Cesaro, and Nigel McGuinness are on Table for Three.
Prime Target: NXT TakeOver Toronto is scheduled to premiere at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time this Wednesday. It will build up Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano’s NXT Championship match at TakeOver.
A new WWE Untold episode premieres at 8 p.m. Eastern this Friday. Daniel Bryan & Kane’s Team Hell No partnership is the subject of the show.
After announcing The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods) vs. The O.C. (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson) for the show earlier today, it will now be WWE Champion Kingston (w/ Big E and Woods) vs. United States Champion Styles (w/ Gallows and Anderson) in a non-title match.
Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Vince McMahon called for a rewrite of the entire show for tonight. Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet first tweeted about the rewrite being called for.
SmackDown Tag Team Champions Big E & Woods vs. Drew McIntyre & Elias in a non-title match had originally been announced for tonight’s show over the weekend.
Gallows & Anderson defeated The Revival and The Usos in a triple threat match last night to win the Raw Tag Team titles.
Kingston is set to defend the WWE title against Randy Orton at SummerSlam on August 11, while Ricochet will challenge for Styles’ U.S. title at the pay-per-view.
Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee.
A WWE Network special will air live tonight as Smackville takes place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
WWE Champion Kofi Kingston will defend his title against Samoa Joe and Dolph Ziggler in a triple threat match. Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura was supposed to face Finn Balor, but WWE has announced that match won’t be happening: “During the week, @FinnBalor suffered an undisclosed injury. @WWE Medical has unfortunately not cleared him for competition tonight at #SMACKVILLE. It is unknown who or if @ShinsukeN defends his title tonight. Stay tuned as we learn more.”
Joe and Ziggler are Kingston’s two most recent pay-per-view opponents. Kingston retained his title against Joe at Extreme Rules earlier this month, which came after he retained against Ziggler at both Super Showdown and Stomping Grounds.
Kingston and Joe faced off in a non-title match on SmackDown this week, with Randy Orton causing a disqualification when he tried to give Kingston an RKO. Orton will challenge for the WWE title at SummerSlam on August 11.
A musical performance by Elias has also been announced for Smackville. The special is an hour long and will begin on the WWE Network at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

The show opens with David Otunga and Tom Philips on commentary speaking about the injury to Finn Balor. Just as they finish mentioning it, Nakamura’s music hits.
Nakamura grabbed a mic and said, “No Finn, no match! I win by forfeit. Ring the bell!”
The bell rang and the ref started to count out Finn Balor. Ali’s music hit as the ref hit 8, and it looks like he’s going to step in for Finn. Ali challenged Nakamura, and Nakamura accepted.
Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Ali to retain his title
Davit Otunga said Ali wasn’t ready because he saw him out back eating a sandwich. Apparently eating food means you can’t be ready for a match. Nakamura and Ali exchanged some holds, but Nakamura couldn’t get the the better off him as Ali was too fast. Ali hit a spinning heel kick and flying crossbody for a near fall. Nakamura cut him off, then hit a baseball slide.
Nakamura put Ali stomach down on the apron and then hit a running knee on Ali for a 2-count. Nakamura did his foot choke in the corner and began to get the heat on Ali. Nakamura maintained control for the next few minutes and locked in a sleeper hold.
Ali rolled Nakamura forward, but Nak kicked out. Ali hit a dropkick and a did a forward roll into a facebuster. Ali put Nakamura on the top rope, went for a superplex , but Nakamura shoved him off. Ali did a backflip, landed on his feet, and then hit a dropkick as Nakamura went for a flying knee. Nakamura kicked out.
Nakamura hit a back heel kick and then a sliding German suplex. Nakamura went for the Kinshasa but Ali superkicked him and hit a satalite DDT. Nakamura kicked out, but the crowd woke up a bit. Ali went for the 450 splash, but Nakamura dodged. Ali landed on his feet and charged at Nakamura. Nakamura dodged and sent Ali face first into the middle turnbuckle. Nakamura hit the Kinshasa for the win! Solid match.
Joe cut a promo about how he was going to win the title tonight because he doesn’t have to lose tonight to lose, but he was walking into a target rich environment where he could take anyone out.
Elias played his concert. He cut a promo about how the the Titans would never win the Super Bowl. He then sung a song about how Shane was great. Vince called him and said he could have all the time he needed. Kevin Owens came out and sent him out of the ring. Owens wanted a match, and the ref ran down and made it official.

Owens was attacked by Elias as the bell rang, and Elias got the heat on Owens for a bit. Elias bent Owens against the ring post and then walked across the ropes while holding Owen’s hands and hit a Meteora. Owens ended up on the top rope, and Elias went up for a superplex.
Owens headbutt Elias and he fell from the top rope. Owens hit a senton bomb, but Elias kicked out. Elias hit a flying knee and went for a flying elbow, but Owens moved. Elias went for a clothesline, but Owens hit ducked and hit a stunner for the win.
A hype video aired for Ziggler vs. Joe vs. Kingston.
Kofi was interviewed and they said a triple threat was insurmountable odds. It isn’t. Kofi’s promo was great.
WWE Champion Kofi Kingston defeated Dolph Ziggler and Samoa Joe in a triple threat match to retain his title
It didn’t take long for the match to spill to the outside and Kofi was sent into the guardrail by Ziggler. Joe and Dolph teamed up and started to beat on Kofi. The y double teamed him for a few minutes, but the alliance didn’t last long, and both were arguing as Kofi began to run wild on the both of them.
Kofi called for the Trouble in Paradise on Dolph, but Dolph rolled to the outside and Joe hit a Samoan Drop on Kofi and got a two count. Joe put Kofi on the top rope but Kofi fought him off. Dolph ran in and tried to hit a run up superplex, but Kofi blocked. Joe came underneath him and went to powerbomb Dolph.
Dolph slipped out and hit a DDT. Kofi tried to powerbomb Dolph, but Dolph rolled through and went for a sunset flip. Kofi kicked out. Dolph hit a Fameasser. Joe cleared the ring and destroyed both men on the outside. Joe sent Kofi into the steps and sent Dolph flying onto the announce table.
Joe put Kofi back in the ring and picked him up. Kofi started to fight back, but Joe dropped him with an elbow. Kofi kicked out. Joe went for the rear naked choke, but Kofi fought out and went for Trouble in Paradise, but Joe caught him with an ankle lock. Kofi fought out again, but Joe caught him again. Dolph zoomed in with a superkick, but Kofi broke up the pinfall attempt.
Kofi and Dolph exchanged strikes, but Dolph headbutt Kofi and then hit the Zig Zag. Kofi kicked out. Dolph called for the superkick, but tuned up the band. He went for it, but Joe caught him with a capture suplex. Kofi rolled up Joe, Joe kicked out. Kofi hit the ropes and Joe absolutely killed him with a clothesline. Kofi kicked out.
Joe picked him up and went for the rear naked choke again, but Kofi rolled out, hit Trouble in Paradise, and scored the pinfall victory. This was a fun match. It had potential to be very good if they didn’t cut it down to about 13 minutes after the 10 minutes of hype they had before it.
David Otunga was awful on commentary. Tom Philips was fine.
The WWE Championship match has been confirmed for next month’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Tonight, the SummerSlam title match was made official during a segment where Kingston challenged Orton.
Kingston cut a promo and showed footage of him defeating Orton on Raw at Madison Square Garden in 2009. Kingston claimed that Orton used his influence to hold him back. Orton responded by saying he was doing Kingston a favor — because Kingston wasn’t ready to be WWE Champion then and isn’t ready now.
Kingston defeated Samoa Joe by disqualification on SmackDown tonight, with Orton getting involved and trying to hit an RKO on Kingston. Kingston avoided it and they went face-to-face. Joe got up, Orton gave him an RKO, and Kingston laid out Orton with Trouble in Paradise.
Kingston will defend his title against Joe and Dolph Ziggler in a triple threat match at this Saturday’s Smackville WWE Network special.

As SmackDown’s build to SummerSlam began, Randy Orton pinned WWE Champion Kofi Kingston in a six-man tag match last night.
Orton, Samoa Joe & Elias defeated The New Day (Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods), with Orton pinning Kingston after hitting an RKO. The match was set up when Joe, Elias, and Orton interrupted The New Day and all wanted a title shot against Kingston. Orton initially refused New Day’s challenge for the six-man tag match until Kingston insulted him.
Ember Moon & SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley defeated Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville last night. After the match, Moon accepted Bayley’s challenge for a title match at SummerSlam.
The Women’s Tag Team titles were on the line, but Peyton Royce & Billie Kay got themselves counted out against Asuka & Kairi Sane. Asuka & Sane laid out The IIconics after.
Shane McMahon hosted a town hall meeting in the opening segment. Kevin Owens was banned from the building but came back and gave Shane a stunner. That led to a show-long storyline where Owens returned to face Dolph Ziggler in the main event. Shane tried to set a trap for Owens, but Owens gave him another stunner and escaped.
The build to Kofi Kingston and Samoa Joe’s WWE Championship match continued with a face-to-face segment on last night’s SmackDown.
After going back and forth on the microphone, Joe guaranteed the safety of Kingston and everyone he holds dear up until Extreme Rules if Kingston would shake his hand. Kingston gave Joe the middle finger instead. Joe charged at Kingston, but Kingston laid him out with Trouble in Paradise.
Another team was added to the SmackDown Tag Team title match at Extreme Rules. It will now be Daniel Bryan & Rowan defending their titles against Big E & Xavier Woods and Heavy Machinery at the July 14 pay-per-view.
Heavy Machinery defeated Kevin Owens & Dolph Ziggler last night to get the title shot. Ziggler accidentally superkicked Owens at the end of the match, then Owens gave him a stunner after.
The Heavy Machinery vs. Owens & Ziggler match was set up during Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre’s appearance on the KO Show. It was also announced that a no holds barred stipulation is set for The Undertaker & Roman Reigns vs. Shane & McIntyre at Extreme Rules.
Nikki Cross hosted A Moment of Bliss and then lost a match against Bayley, and Aleister Black challenged the person who knocked at his door to face him at Extreme Rules.
In a match with implications for Extreme Rules, Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler again faced off on last night’s SmackDown.
The stipulation was that — if Ziggler defeated Kingston in their two-out-of-three falls match — he’d get added to Kingston and Samoa Joe’s WWE Championship match at Extreme Rules. Kingston won the first and third falls to keep Ziggler from getting the title shot.
Kingston retained the WWE title against Ziggler in a steel cage match at Stomping Grounds on Sunday.
There were also Extreme Rules implications for Bayley vs. Nikki Cross on last night’s SmackDown. Cross defeated Bayley, which means that Alexa Bliss will get another shot at Bayley’s SmackDown Women’s Championship at Extreme Rules.
Shinsuke Nakamura had a staredown with Finn Balor and looks to be the next challenger for Balor’s Intercontinental title. Aleister Black also finally got a knock at his door, though the person knocking wasn’t revealed.
SmackDown takes place from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon tonight.
WWE Champion Kofi Kingston will react to Samoa Joe’s attack from last night. Kingston defeated Dolph Ziggler in a steel cage at Stomping Grounds on Sunday. He followed that up by defeating Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in separate matches on Raw. After those matches, Joe jumped Kingston from behind and locked on the Coquina Clutch.
Kingston is set to defend his title against Joe at Extreme Rules on July 14.
Roman Reigns & The Undertaker will take on Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules. Undertaker made a surprise appearance last night and saved Reigns from a two-on-one situation. Tonight, McMahon and McIntyre respond to The Undertaker’s return.
SmackDown Woman’s Champion Bayley defeated Alexa Bliss at Stomping Grounds to keep her title. WWE.com is teasing that Bayley’s next challenger will be determined tonight.
SmackDown Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan & Rowan are scheduled to appear as well.

In the back, Shane McMahon addressed Roman Reigns and The Undertaker in his office. Unlike Reigns and Undertaker, McMahon can’t come and go as he pleases because he has a job to do. He warned the rest of the roster that he’s in a bad mood.
The New Day made their way down to the ring. WWE Champion Kofi Kingston noted he’d had good moments and bad/brutal moments. He talked about taking a literal leap of faith at Stomping Grounds to escape the cage. However, he didn’t have a chance to celebrate.
They showed footage of Samoa Joe attacking Kingston last night. Kingston discussed his upcoming match with Joe. Dolph Ziggler interrupted and pointed out that he did all the heavy lifting. Now somebody else is getting a title shot. He said Kingston took the coward’s way out at Stomping Grounds by jumping out of the cage door.
Ziggler talked to WWE management. He takes on Kingston in a 2 out of 3 falls match later tonight. If Ziggler wins, he’s added to WWE Championship match at Extreme Rules to make it a triple threat.
In the back, Miz approached Elias in front of Shane McMahon’s office. Elias warned Miz that McMahon’s mad about Roman Reigns and Undertaker. Miz wants Elias to send a message to McMahon. He wants another match with McMahon.
Miz walked away, and McMahon walked out of his office. Elias noted Miz was talking trash. McMahon agreed to take on Miz if he could defeat Elias in a 2 out of 3 falls match.
The New Day defeated SmackDown Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan & Rowan in a non-title match
The heels gained control by isolating Xavier Woods. Rowan dropped Woods on the top rope, and Bryan rocked him with a knee for a two count. Woods made a brief comeback, but Rowan took him out with a cross body.
Back from the break, the heels were still firmly in control and isolated Woods. Big E got the hot tag and ran wild. He attempted a splash on Bryan, but Bryan got his knees up. He then transitioned into the Lebell Lock.
On the floor, Woods rocked Rowan with a dropkick into the barricade. The finish came when The New Day hit The Midnight Hour on Bryan for the win.
After the match, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn jumped New Day. Rowan joined in on the beat down. Heavy Machinery ran out for the save. The New Day and Heavy Machinery worked together to clear the ring.

Back from the break, the match is now an eight-man tag match. The heels attacked the faces and knocked them off the apron. The heels isolated Tucker. Rowan hit a massive superplex on Tucker but New Day broke up the pin attempt.
Bryan attempted the running knee, but Tucker hit a huge clothesline. Otis got the hot tag and ran wild. He hit a splash in the corner and Caterpillar on Zayn. Owens was disgusted and walked off. The finish came when Heavy Machinery hit the compactor for the win.
They recapped the angle with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross from last night on Raw. After, Cross informed Bliss that she has a match with Bayley on SmackDown. If Cross wins, Bliss gets a rematch with Bayley at Extreme Rules. They pointed out that Bliss won’t be at SmackDown because she’s on tour in Singapore and Japan.
Elias (w/Shane McMahon) defeated The Miz in a 2 out of 3 falls match
Miz jumped Elias to start the match. He nailed a sliding dropkick and sunset flip for a near fall. Miz went for a springboard, but McMahon caused a distraction. Miz attempted the springboard again, but Elias rocked him with a knee and hit the Drift Away to win the first fall.
The second fall started after the break. Elias slowed the pace down with a chin lock, but Miz fought back and hit a DDT for a near fall. Miz stared at McMahon as he hit the it kicks. McMahon jumped on the apron and Miz knocked him down.
Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale, but McMahon jumped and attacked Miz. Miz wins the second fall by disqualification. McMahon and Elias were furious and continued to beat down Miz before the third fall. McMahon mocked Roman Reigns and speared Miz.
The third fall started, and Elias immediately hit a top rope elbow drop for the win. After the match, Elias held Miz and McMahon hit the coast-to-coast dropkick.
Kayla Braxton interviewed Intercontinental Champion Finn Bálor in the back. He discussed defeating Andrade at Super Showdown. Braxton asked about his next challenger when Shinsuke Nakamura walked in. They had a brief stare down.
Nikki Cross defeated SmackDown Woman’s Champion Bayley in a non-title match
If Cross wins, Bliss gets a rematch with Bayley at Extreme Rules.
Cross jumped Bayley to start the match and hit a cross body for a near fall. Bayley fought back and hung Cross in the tree of woe. She hit an elbow off the bottom rope for a two count.
Back from break, Bayley was still firmly in control. Cross fought back and hit a running bulldog. Bayley sent Cross to the floor but missed a suicide dive.
They traded pinfall attempts in the middle of the ring. The finish came when Cross rolled up Bayley for the win. Alexa Bliss gets a rematch with Bayley at Extreme Rules.
In the back, Carmella looked for 24/7 Champion R-Truth. She ran into Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. They argued but walked off. Truth came out of hiding, but Drake Maverick approached. He doesn’t have a referee. He has nothing and told Truth he ruined his life.
Truth hugged Maverick and called him Hornswoggle. Truth felt terrible so he agreed to let Maverick beat him. He was joking and ran off. A whole bunch of guys chased Truth and knocked down Maverick.
Sonya Deville (w/Mandy Rose) defeated Ember Moon
Deville had the early advantage, but Moon fought back. Moon was on the apron, and Rose caused a distraction. Deville then pushed Moon into the ring post and rolled her up for the win.
In the back, Aleister Black was furious that nobody had accepted his challenge. He’s starting to think that there isn’t a single person that’s man enough to pick a fight with him. Suddenly, somebody knocked on his door. Black looked in the camera and smiled.
WWE Champion Kofi Kingston defeated Dolph Ziggler in a non-title 2 out of 3 falls match
They started with some back and forth mat wrestling. Ziggler hit a standing dropkick for a near fall. He slowed down the pace and locked on a chin lock. Ziggler attempted a monkey flip, but Kingston landed on his feet. Kingston followed up with a standing dropkick for a two count.
Kingston attempted a sunset flip, but Ziggler sat down and held onto the ropes. The referee caught him, and Kingston rolled him up to win the first fall.
After the fall, Ziggler jumped Kingston and hit the Zig Zag on the floor.
The second fall started with Ziggler missing a splash in the corner. Kingston rolled him up for a near fall. Ziggler jumped to his feet and hit a superkick to win the second fall.
Ziggler slowed the pace down by applying a chin lock. Kingston rocked Ziggler with head butts to break the hold. Ziggler regained control and hit a massive elbow for a two count.
Ziggler gave Kingston a slingshot, but Kingston landed on the second turnbuckle. He hit a crossbody off the top, but Ziggler rolled through for a near fall. Ziggler jumped up and hit a DDT for another near fall. Ziggler went for the famouser, but Kingston countered into a powerbomb for a close two count.
Kingston went for trouble in paradise, but Ziggler used an inside cradle for a near fall. Ziggler sent Kingston into the ring post and hit the Zig Zag for another very close near fall. Ziggler missed superkick but avoided the trouble in paradise. Ziggler attempted the superkick again, but Kingston hit the trouble in paradise for the win.
Kofi Kingston will defend his WWE Championship against Samoa Joe at the pay-per-view. Their program began on last night’s Raw, with Joe attacking Kingston and putting him in the Coquina Clutch after Kingston defeated Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in singles matches.
WWE also posted a video where Dolph Ziggler was unhappy about Kingston vs. Joe being made for Extreme Rules.
Tonight’s SmackDown will feature Kingston responding to Joe’s attack.
Kingston retained the WWE title against Ziggler in a steel cage match at Stomping Grounds on Sunday, while Joe lost the United States Championship to Ricochet.
Extreme Rules is taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 14. Universal Champion Seth Rollins & Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will face Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans at the PPV, and Roman Reigns & The Undertaker will team against Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre.
Rollins & Lynch vs. Corbin & Evans has a winners-take-all stipulation, with both the Universal and Raw Women’s Championships on the line as part of the match.
